So I went for the cheapest pairings and it wasn’t actually too bad, except that whenever they explain the wines and how it’s meant to go well with the dish, they were struggling to describe it properly with very bad diction, almost felt like they were nervous and unsure about what they were saying, asked couple of questions regarding some foods and wines, couldn’t really get clear answers from the staffs straight away as they were just mumbling? Spent almost £1,000 for 2 people, definitely not worth the money, seriously wonder how this place deserved 2 Michelin stars for 20+ years? I’ve been to few other 2 stars restaurants and by far this place has been the worst… the restaurant was awkwardly quiet so some background music would be great as when we first walked in there’s almost no one in the dining room so it felt super creepy, it’s just small details that they need to look for in order to make customers feel more comfortable and relaxed, definitely need a lot more training on staffs especially on knowledge parts so they could speak up a bit and explain things in a much better and clear way, keep the foods bit simple as well because all those hundreds of components won’t make the dish any better and rather ruin the flavour as it creates zero harmony and chemistry in between Also seems like they pay people to write a good review or make fake accounts to do that which is such a shame to the restaurant for their fame and reputation….

We had the meat 7 course taster menu. It was absolutely fantastic. Each course got better and better. We are on tour of the British Isles. Our hotel was across the canal from the Millworks and an easy 7 minute walk. Most full service restaurants in Cambridge require a reservation. We could not get in last night (Saturday) but we made an on-line 6PM for tonight. It is very easy to do so on line both from your cell phone and from a computer. We were greeted with friendliness and appreciation and seated right away. Our server, Ellie from Buenos Aires, was a real joy. Wife and I are now close to 80 and we do not eat as much as younger folks so we asked if we could split the Roast Beef menu option with a glass of wine for each, Ellie was a real considerate doll. She brought to us more than we could have possibly eaten individually and more than enough for the two of us to split, It filled us up. All was very flavorful. The beef was fork tender with great beefy flavor. The roasted potatoes were delicious. The Yorkshire Pudding was to die for. Sopping it in the gravy was a bonus. The carrots were tender and sweet. Wife enjoyed the Parsnips. The meal was well priced and lower than many of the other restaurants we checked out on line. We give this a five star rating across the board. Ellie deserve 10 stars! The food and wine were outstanding throughout the lunch. For starters, we had the pan-seared Orkney scallops and the otoro with porcini cream. We went in without a reservation and were promptly given a seat and a high chair. The service was nice and quick even though the place was very busy. The ambience was quite nice. Stumbled upon this pub whilst wandering wearily. I came to Cambridge from London for the day, and having had a whole day of walking was looking for a little refreshment before getting the train home. It's a Thai menu, what a surprise for a Green King pub. Therefore the rivals are not other pubs at all. As a pub with a Thai menu, it's very different to Giggling Squid nearby. The food was in generous portions. Everything tasted great and flavourful. The sauce for the grilled pork neck was very spicy therefore I didn't dip it. Glad the pork had basic seasoning so I could finish the dish without trouble. The pork was so juicy and tender. A good example that everything in the plate has to have basic seasoning. The pineapple fried rice was tasty but not oily. It has a generous amount of meat inside the rice. Maybe it is not as fancy as Giggling Squid physically. The care and attention by the restaurant and staff regarding allergies definitely put my mind at ease. The ambiance is inviting and draws the eyes to many special motifs throughout the place. We had squid appetizer and a plate of their sourdough bread. I’d encourage you to get the bread. My wife and I both exceptionally loved the bread and will go back if only for the bread (the bread is a clear repeat beyond anything else we had). For the entrees, we had salmon and a lobster pasta. Both were good and yet not stunning or set for a repeat. There were very large chunks of lobster in the pasta which was welcome, and the salmon was crisp on the outside with moist-soft texture in the middle, yet the flavors of both entrees were just “ok”. We were on a hunt for a great Beef Wellington and photos from this place got us on the hook. The Wellington itself was the highlight of our visit - it exceeded our expectations! It's in an old church! The architecture is wonderful. I really enjoy sitting upstairs and marvelling at the roof and the stained glass. The food is delicious. The coffees are consistently well made. The service is fast, efficient, friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of seats but it does get quite busy. Students tend to take the tables with a coffee and a laptop and work most of the day. There's a bit of outdoor seating as well but I haven't used that yet. Like I said I like to sit upstairs - the wooden spiral staircase is awesome - and just marvel at the architecture with my drink and treat of the week. Highly recommend visiting here. The prices are reasonable (£4.02 for a decent sized slice of Basque Burnt Cheesecake), the portion sizes are good, the staff are lovely, the venue is clean and tidy, and it's just a really nice place to sit and have a drink.
