Watching the late afternoon light merge into sunset made for a delightful experience. Our meal started with Shark Bay half shell scallops with candied blood orange and jamon. This turned out to be a perfect blend of flavours. The other entree was rare sliced house smoked duck breast with citrus, radicchio, cherry caramel and wattle hazelnut. It tasted delightful. Following this, the main course consisted of fresh local sword fish with spinach and ricotta ravioli in saffron pasta, saffron beurre blanc, broccoli, blistered tomato and toasted pepita. We chose the recommended wine with each course and were not disappointed. Dessert was a tasting plate for two with a sample of each desert. It still has the great panoramic views, and service is friendly enough, but the quality of the food and value for money has gone way down. Case in point was the "nasi goreng" on their menu, which was a Frankenstein monstrosity. The rice tasted like a second rate Indian Biryani, no Indonesian flavours at all. The fried chicken accompanying it was literally just some bland chopped up chicken schnitzel, the fried egg (which was asked to be a little bit runny) was in fact still sporting clear albumin gel, and it was all served with a garden salad with a tangy balsamic dressing, which was just totally out of place. Clearly the chef has never actually tasted a proper nasi goreng and doesn't understand Indonesian flavours. We were in a large group and of the dozen or so meals varying meals served up, the only ones which were passable were the basic pasta dishes. The food didn't do the location justice, and at this price point, one expects better. Avoid.

The only saving grace was the desert. We ordered the aricinni which was so tiny. 3 tiny pieces and basically spaghetti sauce on top. Staff were lovely and advised us when we were ordering that there would be an hour wait for mains as the restaurant was fully booked and we were completely understanding considering it is a popular holiday destination and the volume of patrons they were catering for. Our entrees arrived within half an hour and mains followed shortly after. Food was very nice. Lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection. Pastas were full of flavour. We have eaten here years ago at the old location but today we returned to their newest location which is a nicer place. The staff are friendly and attentive delivering water to the table quickly and taking meal orders shortly their after. The decor is great and creates a great atmosphere. We ate inside which we enjoyed but outside likes nice too it was just full when we arrived. The menu is quite large and there are vegan and gluten free options available. I had the squid ink risotto which was really tasty, they also offer fresh Parmesan to put on top which is really great it can suit everyone’s flavour. The prawns where tasty but a little messy to peel although the scallops where absolutely amazing can’t remember eating a better scallop anywhere. The pizza was really nice flavour and bases looked to be made in house. The coffee is also pleasant. The portion sizes are large also. Price wise they are reasonable and good value for money. We were informed that their top sellers were the Beef Stroganoff and Lobster, Prawn and Barramundi in coconut sauce. We ordered those and the Extra Hot Mexican Chilli Beef and Beef Sausage Roll for safe measure. The Beef Stroganoff was very creamy and well balanced with chunks of beef. The Lobster, Prawn and Barramundi was the winner with chunks of seafood and for $10, should have bought a few more to take home. Respect was given to Extra Hot Mexican Chilli Beef because it lived up to its name and was not dumbed down. We love spicy food and this hit the spot. The sausage roll was excellent too with a super light and flakey pastry unlike anything we have had before. The girl who served us was very helpful and friendly too. It's the food that's important, right? This restaurant is part of the Peninsula Motel. It has a simple but pleasant decor but the food is spectacular. The flavour was smokey and delicious. The chef even came out and spoke to us and told us how he achieves this effect but I won't share his secret. The place is run by a father and daughter who are both friendly and courteous and the daughter even gave us tips where we could have our upcoming wedding. I was quite happy that we were the only ones in the restaurant that night - covid was our friend for a change. I have had Chinese food a couple of times since then and it just doesn't measure up. This is seriously the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. I can hardly wait to visit again.
