Would recommend booking as we did tonight. Lovely busy atmosphere and staff were friendly and accommodating, pizzas were delicious and the ravioli was lovely although a smaller portion than expected but still filling! We had the profiteroles and limoncini ice cream for dessert which were stunning (however at around £8 each if for example a family of 4 were to get a dessert each it would come to an extra £32 which imo wouldn’t be plausible every time for 2 profiteroles/a portion of ice cream for £8 a go!)

I must say I haven't had a good Italian for a while and this place was nice. We rang beforehand to book a table, got in just for 5:15pm. We didn't realise until we got in that this was the start time for the Pizza and Pasta Happy Hour. (Sunday- Thursday) This was great for us and they had just what we wanted on the menu. We wanted to have pasta and pizza so we ordered two pasta meals and one pizza and it was lovely. The pasta was fine for me but just a tad spicer that what I thought it would be. The pizza too had too much cheese for my liking but was still gorgeous and homemade. Staff were kind, polite and accomodating.

The portions were huge, the burritos etc all come with this rice side, with a little salad, salsa and coleslaw too. The flavours were so good too! The staff were also lovely when we were picking up. The food was extremely good quality, and there is plenty of it! If you ate before 5:30pm you got 10% off the bill too, which is great; think it worked out to about £10-15 per meal. Appeared to be one of, if not the only eating establishment open. Virtually every seat inside was spoken for. However, we were lucky enough to get one of the two tables situated on the bistro front. Only one other person in. We asked about having breakfast, informed just take a seat, and she would fetch the menu over. 8 minutes passed before the menu came over. My son, on the other hand, was baffled as to why he had an unnecessary balsamic Zigzag tainting the muffins on the plate and red powder decorating it. So he used his napkin to wipe it off. Staff were polite and just seemed to be slow on this particular morning for some reason. The back door was open, so the cafe felt chilly, perhaps with more people in, and the door shut would have been better. The ambience had character just no atmosphere. Would I eat here again. Possibly, food was nice unfortunately a lengthy time for service, cold plates, and chilly dining room would see me try elsewhere first.

Last time we visited Malton it was not Pizza on the Square, nevertheless we thought we'd try it. The service was ok, not really any atmosphere. We ordered the cesear salad, fries and a chicken and bacon sandwich with sweet potato fries. I had heard good reviews for this establishment and so it was an ideal time to give it a go and we were not disappointed . The food was tasty and the meat used in the dishes was very tender especially the beef. We chose the banquet meal for two and the sharing starter platter was excellent and was a meal in itself followed by 3 main courses with rice and noodles! We finished the chicken and beef dishes but had to leave some of the very plentiful duck dish. There is just the one chef so I would imagine when it's very busy one would have to wait a while but it's well worth the wait. We did not need a breakfast the next morning and we both felt very well afterwards possibly due to the fresh ingredients and the plentiful supply of ginger in some of the dishes. We had the privilege of meeting and speaking to the female chef/owner afterwards and she was very nice and she is very hard working. We will return in the not too distant future.

I really wished we had not bothered. We were shown to our table and handed a paper menu titled Hog Roast. The menu had 2 main courses on it. Scampi and Chips or a veg curry. At first I thought this was a specials menu and asked the waitress for the full menu, to be told, they had had a very busy weekend and this is all they could offer. At NO point prior to our arrival did the restaurant try to contact us to let us know of the limited menu and had it not been a bank holiday Monday and that I had just driven down from Scotland I would have walked straight back out. We decided to make the most of it and ordered. The mains arrived and they were acceptable. We were about to order dessert only to be told that the sticky toffee pudding was not available. As nothing else took anyones fancy we decided to order just coffee, to be told the coffee machine was broken!! How can anyone run a restaurant this bad and manage to get so many good reviews. This place is a joke, I cannot stress enough how much it should be avoided until there is new management in place. I have attached a copy of the menu to show that this was what they considered acceptable that day!

We sat in the outdoor area which had patio heaters and a nice fresh air feel, which given it was quite cold outside was refreshing. The chicken parmo was excellent and was packed full of flavour, complemented with a chilli sauce which didn’t have too much bite. The only let down was the dressing on the salad that came with the parmo was overly vinegary. You might ask why I’m giving this a 4 star over a 5? A chap working there, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, just did not seem interested at all. Also, In the tub that the condiments and cutlery came in was not one but two open packets of salt. The location is central to many places to see. We enjoyed a beautiful room with a canopy bed , sitting area and a beautiful view of the fields to the river. Stopped to get food for 15 of us. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were not fazed by our big order. They wrote done each persons order and when the food was ready they wrap them all individually including the sides. Making it was for us to dish out once back at the mini bus. While waiting for our food I decided to order some teas and vinegar, they didn’t have any salt to but we were offered a pot of salt to take with us.
