Mitsukejima Island, a stunning gem in Okunoto, captivates visitors with its dramatic rock formations and breathtaking coastal views. Ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway, the island offers serene walks along its picturesque shoreline. While some reminisce about fishing adventures from years past, the area has been well-preserved and remains clean and inviting. Despite recent earthquakes affecting the landscape, Mitsukejima continues to enchant travelers with its unique beauty—making it an essential stop when exploring Suzu.

To be honest I came here just for the salt ice cream and wasn’t disappointed. Only four stars because beyond the ice cream there wasn’t much to see or do, all the same I’d come back for that delicious opportunity to put salt on my ice cream without feeling weird.

(Translated by Google) I visited around 3pm on a Sunday, but due to road restrictions, there were only three visitors, including me. It's true that this place is quite far from Kanazawa... But even so, it's a place well worth a visit. One of the things is the salt they sell, made using the Agehama method. It's delicious. It's a product you'll definitely be glad you bought. The salt soft serve ice cream, as others have mentioned, is also good, and the Shiotamura Salt Ramen in the shop was even better than I expected. The museum, which costs 100 yen to enter, was also great, as you could see the large outdoor cauldron up close. The lady at the shop was also very polite... The people of Noto are really all warm-hearted. I'll definitely come back to buy some salt! A beautiful place for the perfect view of the sea of Japan. Take the ticket and go down to the blue caves. We went at night time so it was dark for us but still it was worth going. The sound of ocean is just mesmerising. They have a couple of chairs there, where you can sit and enjoy a coffee (if you bring it with you). The ticket is 1500 yen which we felt a bit overpriced.

Mitsuke Island - A Once Grand Rock in Disrepair Visiting Mitsuke Island in Suzu, Ishikawa, was a bittersweet experience. Unfortunately, since the earthquake on January 1, 2024, the island appears to be crumbling and in total disrepair. The stone path that once led to the island has been lost to the sea, the iconic red torii gate is missing, and the rock itself has crumbled significantly. It's devastating to see this once beautiful place reduced to its current state. Despite the damage, there's still a sense of the island's former grandeur, and I sincerely hope that Mitsuke Island can make a comeback one day. This once vibrant and stunning landmark deserves to be restored. 😢

It is pretty but the Tori gate ⛩️ was destroyed in the earthquake.

Mitsukejima Rock is a nice scenic spot on the coast that is supposedly great for couples. There is a bell for lovers to ring that is on land near the rock, and a cafe/souvenir shop nearby. Even though it was rainy and the tide was high, we were able to climb over some stones and get near the rock. Altogether we spent less than an hour here, on a day with nice weather I'd like to come again during low tide.

Rokkosaki Lighthouse is a charming, ivory-colored tower situated on a seaside headland. It's a well-known spot for both sunrise and sunset views, offering breathtaking scenery that captivates visitors. Finding this location can be challenging initially, as one must park their car in the large parking lot before crossing the street and entering a smaller street with no cars allowed. From there, a staircase leads to an uphill hike lasting around ten minutes to reach the lighthouse.
Splendid view. Nice houses around.

The central of Japanese peninsula! Beautiful and peaceful! Nothing much here but worth for coming! We came after a big earthquake! There are still some road and houses that got effected by earthquakes but Noto is very lovely city! I do recommend you to come!

Nice historical landmark at the edge of Noto Peninsula. You have to walk up the hill to the lighthouse; the road is closed to traffic. Park at the road rest station at the bottom of the hill. There are apparently a number of other attractions around, but we didn't have time to explore more than the lighthouse on our visit.
Theron M — Google review
Amazing view from the lighthouse. Some uphill walk from the carpark, about 15 mins to the lighthouse. Worth to have a look if you are driving.
Niko Z — Google review
It is a very beautiful place, and the sunset here is just magical. ⁣ At first, can be a little tricky to find the exactly location, you must stop your car in a large parking lot (free) and then cross the street, and enter another smaller street (no cars allowed there). ⁣ From this point, you will soon see a staircase and just go up. ⁣ It's uphill, and it takes about 10 minutes to reach the lighthouse.
Spetson S — Google review
Lovely lighthouse that is perfect to visit at all times. Close to the roadside station, just a short climb on paved road. There's also sticks that you can lend from the roadside station if you need one for the climb.

Seafood donburi restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Oku-Noto, Takimitei is a charming little restaurant that has become a must-visit for seafood lovers. After grabbing your passport for the Oku-Noto International Art Festival at Laporte Suzu, this spot is perfect for refueling before diving into the art scene. The Noto seafood bowl here is a standout dish, brimming with fresh and luxurious seafood; you can even opt for a large serving at no extra cost!

(Translated by Google) A small restaurant in Oku-Noto. It is famous for its Noto bowl, which is filled with luxurious seafood. A large serving is free for 2200 yen. It has a local atmosphere like a popular restaurant, but the seafood dishes are very good. Notodon is also as delicious as it looks. However, speaking from my personal taste, the rice is not very tasty. Since it's Noto-don, I think it's rice from the local Noto area, but for example, the rice from Mikohara had really nice grains and was delicious, but the rice here was a little crushed or chewy, probably due to the way it was cooked. Maybe it's a shame. That was the only disappointing part. Payment is basically in cash, and there is no free Wi-Fi. In the summer, the waterfall was so trickling that it looked like a water supply. I recommend going in winter if possible. We ordered Negitorodon and Tempura Soba. I think the seafood is good here. Soba tastes like udon, so I can't say I'm good at soba. The tempura was crunchy and delicious. If you're exploring the Noto Peninsula, a visit to Shōya-no-Yakata is an absolute must! This charming eatery captures the essence of traditional Japanese dining with its nostalgic ambiance reminiscent of days gone by. Nestled near the coast, it offers stunning views that enhance your meal experience. The menu features delightful options like the Noto beef steak bowl, which melts in your mouth, and fresh seafood bowls that showcase local flavors.
Loved the chill, laid back but authentic Japanese roadside eating house vibe. Had the sashimi set meal with chawanmushi, and the seafood was really fresh and full of flavour.. Overall ambience was good too, with staff quite attentive, but not excessively so. Bonus tip #1: for English speakers, you'll want to ask for Wadakiyomi-san, who speaks amazingly well enough to hold a conversation. She's really chatty too, and a joy to talk to, especially when she's free! Bonus tip #2: as you leave the place, cross the road to the other side and look to the left. There's a really nice waterfall (Tarumi Waterfall) that you can walk over to. I loved that the water just cascades right to your feet (before flowing further on to the beach just below you). On a hot day, the cold water is a godsend. On a cooler day, just standing back and admiring the falls is a sheer pleasure!

Udon noodle restaurant
Menya Sanuki NONCHI is a must-visit destination for udon lovers. On a recent Friday afternoon, I found the place buzzing with energy, as patrons eagerly awaited their turn to indulge in delicious dishes. After a brief 10-minute wait post-ticket purchase, I was treated to chilled bukkake udon adorned with crispy kakiage. The homemade noodles were not only visually appealing but also delightfully chewy and flavorful.
(Translated by Google) Visited the store for the first time in a while. This is the fifth time. The sweetness of the soup stock seems to have become less sweet than the last time I ate it. It was very delicious. We recommend the kakiage udon and chicken tempura. The kakiage is crispy and you can really taste the sweetness of the vegetables. The chicken tempura is well seasoned and has a refreshing taste that won't cause heartburn. The udon noodles are chewy and smooth. The clerk was very friendly and nice! I got in at 12:30 on a weekday with a wait of about 20 minutes. Due to road damage caused by the earthquake, it took longer than before to arrive, but it's still a store I'd like to visit again and support. I hope everyone will try it.

(Translated by Google) Visited during lunch time. I happened to be able to get in right away, but after me, the number of people coming to the store suddenly increased and a line formed. The cold udon noodles were firm and chewy. It was delicious and matched well with the seasonings. The warm udon noodles were soft. Both had their own deliciousness. Cash only is accepted as meal tickets can be purchased from the ticket vending machine. (Translated by Google) I visited just before lunchtime, and the counter seats were about half full. Apparently, your order is already transmitted to the kitchen when you purchase your ticket at the entrance, so I just sat down and waited. Soon, an announcement was made that the udon was ready, and I started eating. Knowing it was Sanuki, I was excited to see what it would taste like. This time, I ordered the warm udon, which was chewy, sticky, and easy to swallow. 🙆 The clear broth had a complex, refined flavor, and I drank it all.

Chilled bukkake udon topped with kakiage. The homemade noodles were soaked in cold water and were shiny and beautiful. It was chewy and delicious. The kakiage was also very satisfying and delicious. By the time I finished eating and left, there were about 10 people waiting outside. This is a recommended store. (Translated by Google) I was expecting chewy noodles, but they were soft and chewy. The price is a little high at 700 yen for a kamaage (pot-fried) noodle, since it's the Noto Peninsula, but seeing how the owner keeps track of everything with a kitchen timer shows how serious he is ^ ^ (Original) 思っていたコシの強い麺かと思ったら モチモチ系の柔らか麺でした。 値段は能登半島なので釜揚げ700円と少々割高ですが、キッチンタイマーで全て時間管理しているのを見てご主人の真面目さが伝わります^ ^

(Translated by Google) I had great customer service and a delicious seafood bowl. As for customer service, the staff welcomed me with a smile and provided courteous customer service. Then, the seafood bowl I ordered was brought to me, and it looked bright and filled with lots of fresh and delicious-looking seafood. When I put it in my mouth, the thick red meat of the tuna was very soft and had a rich flavor. The combination of salmon and salmon roe was delicious, and the balance of the ingredients was so good that I wanted to eat it again and again. Since I had no choice, I made breakfast using the bread and coffee maker I had brought with me in the shared kitchen. I understand that the management policy is to reform for survival, but I would like to have a proper breakfast.
