Museums
Frontier Texas! is a captivating 14,000-square-foot museum and visitor center located in downtown Abilene. It offers an immersive experience of the Old West and Texas frontier life through permanent and rotating exhibits, historical artifacts, interactive displays, and life-size settlements. Visitors can witness the hardships and glories of life in the American West with exhibitions featuring settlers, wildlife, card game shootouts, Indian attacks, prairie thunderstorms, stampeding buffalo, and more.
This was a very interesting tour. I was in town for training and didn't get to the museum till almost closing time. One of the employees signed me in and then took me to the theater area to make sure I seen it. It was very a cool experience.

Frontier Texas! is an absolutely fantastic museum and a definite must-visit in Abilene. It is genuinely interactive and incredibly informative, making the history of the Texas frontier engaging for all ages. The museum truly brings the past to life, especially through their innovative use of hologram characters. It feels less like reading plaques and more like meeting the people who lived this history—it’s a completely immersive and memorable experience. We found the entire visit to be great and left feeling thoroughly educated and entertained. If you want history that jumps off the page and gets you involved, make sure to stop by Frontier Texas! Highly recommended!

This place was so much fun, extremely interactive so it kept the kids attention and we learned so much! We got some really cool souvenirs to take home and we talked about and referenced the museum our whole trip. Highly recommend bringing the whole family!

Such a fantastic museum! My husband & I throughly enjoyed exploring & learning about the Frontier! The holographic scenes are amazing. Take a couple hours and check this museum out!

We had a great time on our field trip. This place is interactive and informative. Can't wait to go back and visit again, but be able to take my time. Our tour guide was very patient and had a lot of knowledge.
Josie — Google review
We came on a field trip with second and third graders. There was a lot of interactive exhibits, which kept their attention well. We had a guide and she was dressed for the part and very knowledgeable and patient. There is a really cool 360 experience at the end that the kids loved.

Had a fantastic time at the museum It was awesome to see the holograms and to learn a lot about the state of Texas and how hard it was to live back then people dying left and right killing each other war fighting over land
Carrie C — Google review
Wow! This is a destination. I was not expecting the quality and extent of exhibits. Unique holographic presentations and a 360° theater production. Jere was a very knowledgeable host. Day 30 of our current trip and this is definitely one of the highlights.

Art museum
Museums
The Grace Museum, located in a former hotel built in 1909, offers a diverse experience for art enthusiasts, history lovers, and families. With five galleries and a four-story space, the museum showcases a robust permanent collection featuring works by renowned artists such as James Surls and Andy Warhol. Visitors can also explore special exhibits like the Tools for Modern Living show and enjoy an interactive kids area. Additionally, the museum hosts programs, art classes, and special events for both adults and children.
We recently got married at the Grace and it was the best experience ever! The staff was so so sweet and so helping! The prices??? Can’t beat them! I definitely will recommend them forever for ANY event!
Chloe O — Google review
I didn't tour the 2nd floor, only the 1st and 3rd. The Grace Coffee Shop is no longer open and is now an Event Center that happened to be in use when I was there. The tour of the 3rd floor was full of memorabilia from the early to mid 1900s. Beautifully displayed antiques and room settings.

The history of Abilene is fun to learn about. If it wasn’t for the train the city wouldn’t be here! To learn about the Grace Hotel is fun to learn about too!
Irene E — Google review
What a beautiful museum! Small, but I love being able to see inside the old hotel. There are art galleries on the first two floors, a super fun kid's space on the second floor, and more local history on the third. I really enjoyed it and learning more about Abilene! The original train station is right across the street and several of the storybook character statues are in the immediate area. There is dedicated parking for the museum, "behind" the hotel (opposite from the front corner entrance), both covered and uncovered. I found plenty of street parking as well right on the corner. There's a coffee shop and restaurant nearby that looked like they were serving at 10 am.

We recently attended a wedding at The Grace Museum and it was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by how beautifully the historic building blended classic charm with modern elegance. The stunning architecture, art-filled walls, and warm lighting created the perfect romantic atmosphere — every corner felt like a photo opportunity! The staff at The Grace were incredibly professional and attentive. Everything ran so smoothly, from the ceremony setup to the reception. You could tell the team truly cared about making the evening special for everyone — guests and couple alike. The museum’s layout worked perfectly for the event: the ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, the cocktail hour flowed seamlessly, and the reception space was both spacious and cozy. It was such a unique and elegant venue that captured the spirit of West Texas in such a timeless way.

Stopped in Abilene for a few hours and popped into this little museum. It’s a combination of art, kid’s stuff, and history. The building was originally built to be a hotel, and the third floor has some history about it. The lady working the front desk was super nice and informative. She explained the layout of the museum since it was my first visit. I also asked for recommendations for the city, and she was very helpful with things to see and eat.

The Grave Museum is not only a showcase art gallery for current professionals but it is a legacy, a historical site, record of human expansion in the Abilene area with its cluster of galleries dedicated to honoring the past. It serves as an experiential zone for creativity that young people can freely engage. For the artist whom are impacting the world one gallery showing at a time, your artist membership and active showings are a way to execute your influence through vision, interpretation, expression.

Our family of seven visited The Grace in the morning. Our five children had an amazing time discovering all the kinds of art they could make in the play zone. The VW Bug was a huge hit for our three-year-old. Our seven-year-old loved the stage area and the Astronaut costumes. Our eight-year-old was amazed by the touchscreen draw creator. And our five-year-old and six-year-old loved the play centers. The art installations on communication and the arts were beautifully displayed and the children found them most interesting. The period rooms and the hotel room would have looked like at The Grace for was very interesting and was loved and cared for. I enjoyed the dresses and many types of hand fans. We could not have been more entertained by this outing. It was also a great place to be out of the hot sun.

Zoo
Nestled within the scenic Grover Nelson Park in east Abilene, the Abilene Zoo offers an immersive experience with over 1,000 animals representing more than 250 species. The zoo spans 16 acres and is set to expand by an additional 24 acres.
We always enjoy going to the Abilene Zoo. It's not very large but it is nicely laid out and a comfortable walk. Kids enjoyed the Autumn/Halloween event. This event is popular and the zoo is much busier than usual during this annual event. Plenty of parking, much of it updated.
Eberhard B — Google review
We've been visiting the Abilene Zoo for over 13 years now, and it’s always a family favorite. All three of my kids have grown up loving this place—there’s always something new and exciting to see with each visit. The staff is one of the highlights of the zoo experience. They're friendly, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the animals they care for. Whether it’s during a fun educational show for the little ones or just answering questions while you stroll by, they clearly love what they do. The zoo itself isn’t massive, which is actually a plus in my book. You can easily see everything without feeling exhausted by the end of your visit. It’s the perfect size for families with younger kids, and still entertaining for adults too. They are currently expanding, so the zoo will soon be growing—but even now, it’s a wonderful and charming place to spend the day. If you haven’t been to the Abilene Zoo yet, I highly recommend stopping by. You won’t be disappointed!
Jeremy T — Google review
I was originally going to give the Abilene Zoo 4 stars because while it’s a great zoo, there are definitely some areas that could use improvement. A few exhibits seemed a bit overcrowded or lacking in enrichment. However, I talked to a very friendly employee at the carousel, and after hearing about everything they have planned, I’m honestly hopeful and impressed. For example, the spider monkey exhibit felt extremely overcrowded — it looked like there were more than 10, maybe 15 or more. The employee explained that they recently seized around 9 baby spider monkeys at the border and brought them here temporarily. Once they’re old enough, they’ll be placed in other zoos. Knowing that made the overcrowding make a lot more sense, and I appreciate the role the Abilene Zoo is playing in helping them. He also mentioned that many exhibits are in the process of being updated to become more enriching and spacious, which is great to hear. Another unique detail he shared was that one of the higher-ups owns a large plot of land with his own animals and brings some to the zoo depending on the time of year. Right now, for the holidays, they have reindeer — which my son was ecstatic to see! The zoo itself has a train, a carousel, and lots of great animals. My son got to see a snapping turtle for the first time, and he was both amazed and a little scared because of the size. The animals all looked well cared for, active, and easy to see. The jaguar exhibit in particular looked amazing. Ticket prices are very affordable, and honestly, I think the experience is worth more than the cost. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would definitely recommend checking out the Abilene Zoo. I’m only passing through, but I hope that the next time I’m in the area, I’ll get to see all the improvements they’re planning.
Tiffany R — Google review
This zoo is a gem. Their exhibits are top notch. It’s not too long of walk to see everything, and each exhibit is well taken care of. And the giraffe feeding is one of the best zoo experiences someone can have.
Brandon P — Google review
Maybe it's because we had the entire zoo basically to ourselves because we were there on an off day, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The facility is beautiful, they have a great variety of animals, and they have great themes.
Senyi G — Google review
My granddaughter and I, had a great time. Not very expensive. Lots of critters. We went during Halloween time. Decorated cool Definitely, will go back often! You can feed some animals. There is also, a giant sand pit for the kids. That's when, I rested. I had brought my umbrella for the sun. Didn't really need it. Lots of trees with shade. The monarch butterflies were everywhere, too!
Cheryl A — Google review
This is such a cool smaller zoo you can spend time just strolling around the beautiful laid out property, It wasn't crowded and we so enjoyed looking at the animals. I would come back here again and again, can't wait to visit in the near future..!!!

Historic Sites
Historic Fort Phantom Hill is a 19th-century fort site with three original stone buildings, offering self-guided tours for history enthusiasts. The park is well-maintained and has walking trails that wind through the fort ruins with labeled signs depicting an old hospital and blacksmith. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of wildflowers blooming in spring while exploring the historical site, which provides a glimpse into Texas's rich history.
This will always be one of my favorite little forts. I always stay at the Holiday Inn in Abilene, wake up before sunrise and drive out to see the sun hit the fort. It's so peaceful, beautiful, and serene.
L T — Google review
I've been to other historic forts that had amenities such as gift shops and partially- or fully-restored ruins. This site has ruins, restrooms, and a heavily spider-infested welcome area with a bit of history posted. So this is a place you come if you like the idea of walking around looking at ruins, not a museum-like ruins as you see in some other historic forts. Also FYI, there's a posted sign warning to watch out for rattlesnakes (we didn't see any; someone apparently mows the grass, which helps) and there are sticker plants, so wear long pants.
Melanie S — Google review
After visiting Frontier Texas!, we headed out to Fort Phantom Hill, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the ruins. It offers a fascinating glimpse into history, and the information booklet provided at the entrance is excellent, allowing for a fantastic, easy, self-paced walking tour of the grounds. The site itself is a beautiful, open piece of history. The only minor drawback is that because it is an open-air historical site, there are quite a few spiders and creepy crawlers around the ruins—so be prepared and maybe wear closed shoes! Despite the bugs, it's a worthwhile, informative, and highly recommended historical stop for anyone in the Abilene area.
Senyi G — Google review
What a great stop on a road trip! We grabbed sandwiches in town and ate them as we walked this site. It's a free park. In mid-May, the flowers were so beautiful! So many butterflies! Cacti were in full bloom! So many huge mosquitoes! Bring insect spray or just do what we did...move quickly and watch each other's backs! The site was great for getting a short walk in on a long drive and seeing some historical ruins.

Museums
The National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature is a delightful museum that showcases original artwork from celebrated children's book illustrators. Each quarter, the spotlight is on one artist and their work is accompanied by the corresponding storybook. The museum also features black and white photos of previously highlighted authors. Admission to this hidden gem in Abilene is by donation only, and visitors can enjoy the wonderful bookstore as well as charming children's book statues outside of the building. It's definitely worth a visit!
We loved this place. So relaxed, so just chilled out. The way this is laid out you have all the room in the world and you can just mosey around and enjoy the art. We got to see a retrospective of the centers exhibits. So amazing this is a jewel. Also the gift shop has many signed editions for sale. Highly recommended.
Jason G — Google review
Really love this place. I only have been here on Saturday mornings with my two year old. Not only is it free to get into but they do free crafts and if it’s open, a little museum featuring artists and authors and their books. They have a book/gift shop too that’s pretty big and has a lot of options. My toddler loves it and it gives us something to do Saturday mornings. Not to mention the staff are always very kind and pleasant. They have an area in the back too that has other activities for kids to do as well. Idk if it would be really crazy fun for little babies or older kids, unless they like art, but it’s pretty perfect for toddlers. It’s always clean too. I haven’t been to any of their events or anything though, but I imagine those are just as great too. Definitely recommend if you just need to burn off some toddler energy or if your child is into literature and art. If they do have special events i would recommend buying tickets in advance.

Oh my gooodness this park and the sculpture walk was awesome. We were in town on a misty/rainy day. There were a few groups of people out enjoying the sculptures at the park and strolling the streets. Abilene downtown has a neat feel. There’s fun boutiques, hat shops and a Texas Novelty store. The Paramount Theater was playing “Its a Wonderful Life.” I mean… come on 🥰
Kanina C — Google review
A really nice little (free) museum not to be missed! It spotlights a children's book writer/artist with original art. The bookstore is wonderful too! There are also b/w photos of previous spotlighted writers. There are also really great children's book statues outside of the museum to enjoy. 👌
Amy J — Google review
We were greeted at the door. She explained the history of the museum and the original art of the book illustrators. We then were able to explore on our own and finifinished off going to the bookstore.

Ms. Kayla from NCCIL is phenomenal! Early Artists was such a great session. Our 5,3, and 2 year olds loved it. Thank you!

This was such a fun experience! It is another hidden gem in Abilene. The NCCIL features the original art work from one children's book illustrator each quarter. When possible the illustrator comes for the debut of their art work. You get the opportunity to see their art with the story book near by. We had a great time! Admission is by donation only, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Chicken restaurant
Belle's Chicken Dinner House is a charming, rustic restaurant in Abilene that offers a delightful Southern dining experience. The old building exudes a cozy, at-home atmosphere where you can enjoy hearty family-style meals. The menu features an array of classic Southern dishes such as fried chicken, catfish, and chicken fried steak, accompanied by mouthwatering sides like macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes.
RECOMMEND. Rustic, country, barn atmosphere. We were welcomed and seated right away. Our waitress, Deb, was fantastic! Our food was made fresh and was served quickly. Great playlist of music playing, fun dancing and festive birthday celebrations near our table. Comfort food served family style. Five main entrees: Fried chicken, baked chicken, country fried chicken, dumplings, and fried catfish. Four sharable sides: mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, corn, and freshly baked bread. Pie and cake are dessert options.

It’s more than food, it’s an Experience!! Such an amazing atmosphere to sit back and enjoy a family style meal. The fried chicken is absolutely delicious and we ate every bit of food on our plate!! Couldn’t recommend the Food, the service, and the atmosphere enough.

Hands down the beat meal I've had on the road so far. Not far off I20 in Abilene Texas. Highly recommend stopping by to eat and definitely bring your appetite. They serve it family style with unlimited rolls, and fours sides. Your choice of meat.
Dustie P — Google review
Today was our first time eating here. The food was amazing! We were able to share entees and the sides and bread are bottomless and shared by the whole table. The food was excellent! My friend let me try a piece of her chicken fried steak and it was soooo good. I shared the chicken tenders with house-made honey mustard dipping sauce with my son and they were really good. Our waitress was great, polite, and patient in explaining everything. Overall an awesome experience, I can see why they are always busy! We will definitely be back!
Adriana K — Google review
I was completely impressed with this place; specifically, the food taste, quality & quantity. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, and the "family style" sides are served in large servings for to the entire table to share. Sides were all great, the corn was among my favorites - creamstyle but not too creamy and tastes fresh. The Chicken fried steak with gravy was literally as big as the plate it was served on - you will not leave here hungry due to the portion sizes and unlimited sides. Last but not least, the staff was friendly and one of the owners even paid a visit to our table to check on us and thank us for coming in. I will 100% be back to Belle's again.
Trent H — Google review
This was a wonderful experience. My husband and I went with our oldest grandbaby, my dad and his mom and dad. The wait staff and hostess were awesome. The amount of food was so much. Definitely worth your time and money.

Hands down the best chicken fried steak I have had in a long time. Greens beans seasoned well, I hate creamed corn, but they had a whole kernel in house creamed corn that was amazing. Mashes potatoes were buttery. It was so delicious. Amy our server explained to us that everything came out as family style so they bring a stack of plates, sides are refillable unlimited as long as you eat it there you can not take it to go. This place is on point. Wish I would have gotten pics of the food.

Steak house
Lytle Land & Cattle Company is a rustic chophouse in Abilene, known for its mesquite-fired steaks and seafood. The menu features a variety of dishes including tender filet mignon, heavily marbled rib-eye steak, Yellow Fin Tuna, Mesquite Grilled Catfish, and Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The restaurant offers a classic Texan decor and is perfect for dining with friends and family. Additionally, they offer lunch specials from Monday to Friday.
Great food. The sauteed mushrooms were really great. The chicken fried steak was huge! We never did get bread, but I saw other tables get some. It was Saturday night at 6, and busy, so I get it. That also accounted for 3 other folks getting served at the bar who came in after us. I had the salmon which was good, but a bit overcooked. The fried okra was good too. Chicken fried steak was fork-tender - delicious! Mixed review, I know.

Glad i came to try there steak, was juicy, flavorful, tender. Just amazing. Salad was fresh, bread was not bad fluffy soft and warm. Service was on point everyone had a smile on there face i sat at the bar and my bertender was great and recommended some steaks, and i didn't feel rushed to order. Overall steak was 81/2 out of 10 would definetley come back try other dishes and steaks for sure .

Was told by a customer service agent at the airport to check out Lytle. I was impressed upon walking in with the size and decorations. However, a lot of that ended when I sat at the bar, which was virtually empty, and received very lackluster service. I could understand if the bar and restaurant were busy, but they were not. After a lot of reflection after leaving I realized that I was ignored many times by the staff. I wasn't even asked if I wanted water, bread (which was complimentary, and after asking for it was super dry), or a bag for my leftovers. After receiving the smallest steak on earth (which was a 4 oz filet mignon for $28?!), and two sets of green beans which were salty, I had to hurry to the airport. While waiting for my food I had to swat off several flies from dropping in my old fashioned, which was actually decent. However, I would not return for a juicy steak due to the service. I hope this improves in the future.
Chandra J — Google review
This is a good, healthy meal. Service is slow, so not the place if you're in a hurry. Chicken was a bit dry, but the vinaigrette dressing fixed that. Good salsa has a bit of sweetness to it.

Probably our fav steak place. All the food items were AMAZING. I Wish we lived closer. The service was great, too.

My husband and went on a Saturday night at 8pm. I think we missed the crazy dinner rush, but it was still busy. This place is pricey but I can honestly say, 💯 worth the money. I am not sorry we splurged for a date night. The Abilenian steak was AMAZING. We ordered it medium. I was worried it would be slightly too done, but it was perfect. The loaded mashed potatoes were super tasty. The wedge salad was delicious. We ordered jalapeño poppers and they were average. The chips and queso were really just chips and melted Velveeta. The green beans were average. The drinks from the bar were outstanding. We didn’t get bread 🤷🏻‍♀️ I saw other tables get it but we didn’t. Our waitress ran her tail off the whole time we were there. So 2 appetizers and one entree with the added wedge salad was plenty for my husband and I to share. We’ll definitely be back!

Went with a large group and the sever did a great job with the large group. I had the ribeye steak tips, loaded baked potato, and salad. Their bread great, soft and warm with a great taste. My steak tips were so juicy and had great flavor.

Came here just before 5pm dinner rush. What an amazing steakhouse. The staff are respectful and knowledgeable about their cuisine. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ambience is on point for a serious steakhouse with many remnants of old Texas. I had the quail legs as an appetizer and my main was the Abilinean steak, cooked medium rare with grilled mushrooms and a loaded baked potato. Outstanding place to splurge on quality and I would highly recommend.

The Beehive Restaurant is a renowned dining destination in Abilene, Texas, known for its aged Angus beef steaks and seafood. With an upscale setting featuring Old West flair, it offers a menu filled with rich marbled steaks, generous seafood portions, hearty sandwiches, and appetizers that could easily pass for entrees. The restaurant has received accolades from publications like Texas Monthly and Southern Living for its exceptional cuisine.
I had the Chicken Cesar salad and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. The chocolate cake was yum and we devoured it. Our server, Preston, was attentive and gave us honest feedback to our questions. The Long Island Ice Tea was very good and definitely recommend you trying it.

Wow!!! What a gem! This place is an absolute must-visit. The filet was one of the best I've ever had. Prepared simply, nothing crazy but handled, treated, prepared, and cooked well. Every bite was tender, delicious, and had that melt-in-your-mouth struggle that's so craved. The crust was perfect from a proper sear, and it was cooked correctly to my doneness (medium rare) from end to end. What an absolute treat! The service was top notch as well... We were greeted mere moments after being seated. Drinks never ran dry, recommendations were spot on, the wait staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and informative. They also had multiple team members stopping by to help out - the mark of a fine dining establishment. The atmosphere really worked well too. Nothing overstated, but clean, traditional, and playing to the history of the saloon. While at the same time classy. I can't say enough about how wonderful Beehive Restaurant is - if you've already been then you know, but if you haven't then you've gotta go!

This has been my go to restaurant for years and I’ve always recommended it to others for steak. I moved to FL 16 months ago and came back for a visit. I splurged on the $51 ribeye steak for lunch (my fav). The steak I bought was cooked just right (med). However, the steak was flavorless and chewy. I had a sneaking suspicion it wasn’t a ribeye at all but a NY strip. Either way it was one of the least enjoyable steak I’ve had in a restaurant in years. It was busy and had an appointment to go to so ate it for my dose of protein. Whether you call it a ribeye or NY strip, it was a regrettable choice yesterday. Left my favorite restaurant very disappointed.

Nice spot for a date night or family dinner. Not a large menu short and sweet with special off the menu items. Service was friendly, our server kept close and served with a smile. My wife's steak was a little less than medium as she had liked, it was more red than pink but it still tasted great, especially with the delicious crab ontop. I had the special which was Mahi Mahi with capers over rice and black beans with slices of Avocado, at first bite I was listening for the ocean because it really brought me back to the Islands. The soup of the day was a steak n rice soup IKR, but it was tasty filled with flavor. Perfect spot for a quiet dinner, tonnes of flavor. If you're going for dinner you can park across the street in the bank's parking lot but dont do it for lunch.

Top restaurant in Abilene. Tablecloths restaurant with generous servings that are consistently outstanding! Get there early and have everyone in your party present to get seated. Worth the wait! Easily spend way more than $20 per plate but well worth it. And they have some items that are budget friendly. I got the special, house salad, unsweet tea and got away for $20 plus tip.
Pam L — Google review
My wife and I recently visited The Beehive after hearing mixed reviews, and unfortunately, my experience leaned more toward the disappointing side. From the start, the service left much to be desired. Our server seemed distracted and took quite a while to take our order, despite the bar top being only half full. Drink refills were inconsistent, and we had to ask twice for basic things like utensils and napkins. While the staff wasn’t outright rude, there was a noticeable lack of attentiveness and warmth that made the meal feel rushed and impersonal. The food itself didn’t do much to redeem the evening. Our ribeye came out dry and over-seasoned, and the accompanying sides were cold and overcooked. For the price point, we expected something fresher and more thoughtfully prepared. On the positive side, the ambiance was pleasant enough — dim lighting and comfortable seating made for a nice setting. But unfortunately, the atmosphere couldn’t make up for the underwhelming meal and lackluster service.

The atmosphere here is nice. Food selection is very minimal. I had the Beef Oscar which in my opinion needs work. The sauce didn't quite bring the dish together with the crab meat. The crab meat had a very fishy taste like it was served out of a can. Not saying that it was yet very possible. As I said the dish needs work in my opinion. The filet was cooked properly to order. As for the sides, the baked potato was very dry & $6 asparagus side taste like burnt celery. All in all if you are a local I'd say try different dishes to suit your pallet. All in all this place is nice & service is top notch.

Hamburger restaurant
Lucy's Big Burgers is a charming, family-owned spot in Hub City that serves up Texas-sized burgers, all-beef chili-dogs, Frito pie, and a variety of delicious sides like hand-cut sweet potato fries and hand-battered onion rings. Don't miss out on their homemade ice cream served in cups or made-from-scratch waffle cones. The restaurant also offers unique fried pickles with a spicy twist.
The burgers are amazing6. It was a good-sized juicy burger on a sweet sourdough bunqoth all the fixings. The fries are hand cut and cooked in beef fat, another big pluse. The chill cheese tots were very good. Nice mild, flavorful chill with a good amount of cheese. Th ice cream is homemade, creamy flavorful, and not overly sweet. This is a very welcoming place. The servers were friendly and fast. We were welcomed on the way in and thanked on our way out. The America First flag flying out front along with the pro 2A signage and decor are another big pluse. This is the kind of American small business you want to support. We will definitely be coming back for more.

I got sat down, and it took 45 min to get my food. Service was slow it took a while to get my drink I ordered. There was another guy that came in after I did beside me and ordered after me, and he still got his food before me. My burger was good, and the chili cheese fries weren't bad, but there were several hard, crunchy ones in it. To me, it's not worth the wait for the service you get and the time waiting.

I paid almost $20 for a cheeseburger, fries, and drink. The fries tasted stale, when I bit into the burger I felt something hard which ended up being the toothpick. Like someone literally just placed or hid the toothpick in between the lettuce and tomato parallel not vertically sticking through the meat to keep everything intact. This could have turned out badly, especially if I were a child. I could have choked on a big food wooden toothpick that was placed parallel to everything inside burger as if it were edible. It was a horrible unsafe mistake and I have no reason to lie about my experience. I certainly didn’t deserve that. I know it’s fast food, but damn. Y’all need to slow down a bit in regards to food safety. Trust me, it’s not about not getting a discount. It’s really about my bad customer experience here. I’ve been to this burger joint several times and will never go back. I got one small container of ranch and almost didn’t get dressing condiments to put on the bread. I also didn’t receive any napkins. Whether that was intentional or not, I won’t be back and don’t recommend this place if you are military or veteran. It’s overpriced and you have to ask for the basic complementary items which should already be included without you having to ask. After asking for medium on the amount of ice, I got half a cup of ice and barely any soda. I guess they didn’t care about giving me my money’s worth. It’s okay because I won’t be back. I just hope that it wasn’t because I’m a non white person. I wouldn’t trust eating food here. Hopefully this review motivates them to improve their food quality services and customer satisfaction. Love, Peace, Happiness, Kindness, Blessings, Respect, Compassion, Care No weapon formed against me shall prosper.

I read some of the other reviews before going here. I arrived and was greeted and shown to a table in the corner. I was very pleased as no one would be stepping on my service dog. The waitress arrived and took my order. Within 10 minutes I had my food. It was wonderful! The atmosphere was wonderful as well. I will recommend Lucy's to everyone.

Lucy’s big burgers - Did they switch owners? The food doesn’t taste the same at all. Flavorless, they switched soda vendors and they don’t wear those cute old fashioned outfits. They no longer keep mayo on the tables. The fries taste different. The whole vibe is off now. I used to come here for the buns! They tasted so good. Now they are just DIFFERENT

Here’s a polished version of your Google review: --- Big Burger had great flavor! The poppers were absolutely delicious and the chili cheese tots were amazing. We were greeted immediately with a smile, and our carry-out order was 100% accurate. Highly recommend!

Lucy’s Big Burgers is big on flavor! From the juicy burgers to the homemade ice cream, Lucy’s Big Burgers is a must when in Abilene. The food is worth a visit alone, however the service deserves extra recognition. An elderly couple using mobility assistance devices entered the restaurant. When the owner Amy saw them and recognized that the next table to be seated was at a high table on another side of the restaurant, the owner directed the couple to a large table close to the entrance. I approached the owner after this as knowing others with mobility challenges would have wanted the same treatment for them. The owner then explained how she makes all the ice cream there and that chocolate is her favorite. The burgers we ordered were grilled to perfection - well seasoned without being overbearing. Their homemade ketchup packed a punch and went well with their fresh cut fries. We were less enthusiastic about their chicken bites but everything else beat our expectations. Highly recommend for the food and for the service. Note the opening hours: Monday to Thursday 11 am - 2 pm, Friday & Saturday 11 am - 9 pm, closed on Sundays

Just came here for MIL birthday dinner spent $101 for a hamburger steak, a Mac bowl,a hot ham and cheese, and a pb&j and 1 more person meal and every bit of it belonged in the trash can instead of being edible. We ate it anyways because we were to tired and hungry to deal but come on for $101 and it all to be nasty!!!! I will never be back to this place, wish I could get the money back, a kindergarten child could make better food than this.

Restaurant
Cypress Street Station is a popular hangout spot located in a historic Downtown building in Abilene, TX. It offers upscale dining with a comfortable ambiance and features fireplaces for colder days. The well-stocked bar serves local brews on tap, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The menu includes classic American comfort food such as burgers, sandwiches, fried green tomatoes, and Caesar salad. Additionally, they offer an extensive selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wines.
We came here for lunch on a Friday and were seated immediately. We ordered the sweet chili calamari as an appetizer - the sauce was great! But the calamari was rather thick for our preference, closer to the size of a fish stick. I ordered the stuffed avocado as my main and it was fantastic! I would definitely order it again. Very tasty.

This has been on my list of must tries in town and they didnt disappoint. You feel welcomed the moment you enter, the cozy atmosphere takes you away. The food was absolutely delicious, the flavors were on point creating a nice flavor party on your pallete. Truly devine one of the best flavors in Abilene. My wife had the bacon wrapped quail with honey sauce, and I had the crusted veal which was tender and loaded with juicy flavors, actually still tasting it 🤣. My Entre was off the regular menu so it might not be there when you go, just ask your server. Everyone in town seems to do calamari but theirs is different its not deep fried and hard crusted but seeming lightly fried and served in a sweet chillie sauce absolutely devine. Our server was amazing, she made great suggestions, and kept checking on us. The floor manager was also amazing she actually brought our entrees which is not something you see very often. Great atmosphere, great service and awesome flavors will definitely be back. Side note if there is still construction ongoing on the street, park behind the grace buulding and walk around to the front. Definitely give them a try.

We wanted to try this out while we were in town and my goodness we were blown away! Trey gave the best service I’ve ever had in any restaurant and that includes some of the finest dining restaurants in Texas! We recommend the Farmhouse Pasta and Bayou Chicken Pasta which was perfectly cooked. The flavors of the dishes came together so well that we could help but leave a great review! The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere has a high end but old town feel. Please come give this place a shot if you are in town.

Great waiter and waitress! The potatoes were most flavorful part of the meal and really tasty. The lack of seasoning on the NY strip leaves a lot to be desired. It was, however, cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested and the quality of the beef seemed fairly high. From this limited experience, I cannot recommend a steak for dinner.

Our waitress was so nice! The meat they serve is so tender that we probably wouldn’t have needed a steak knife to cut it. Great atmosphere, and the chefs made our food quickly! Everyone should definitely go here when in Abilene!

Katie was an absolutely great Waitress, she was very kind and did not bother us every second. She kept a smile on her face throughout the experience. The food was fantastic, I had the New York Strip Med Rare and it melted in my mouth. The best Anniversary Dinner I have had yet.

We always enjoy our trip to Cypress Street. As we find our way to our table, the art and decor is enjoyable on the vintage walls of the antique building. I am so impressed with the specialty drink menu, that I can never decide but I have enjoyed all of the ones I tried. We often choose the special because it's always something we never see on any other menu. Some of our favorites is their fish dishes. We usually start off with the calimari appetizer because it is amazing! The staff is the most friendly that you'll find in Texas.
