Nice

Nice, capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera, sits on the pebbly shores of the Baie des Anges. Founded by the Greeks and later a retreat for 19th-century European elite, the city has also long attracted artists. Former resident Henri Matisse is honored with a career-spanning collection of paintings at Musée Matisse. Musée Marc Chagall features some of its namesake's major religious works.

Prom. des Anglais is a 7-km-long beachfront promenade in Nice, France, lined with palm trees and featuring a bike path. It has been a popular spot since the 18th century when English aristocrats sought refuge from winter weather. The promenade extends from the airport to Nice's old town and is home to many hotels and cafes. Visitors can enjoy seaside walks, known locally as 'the Prom,' while taking in the sea air and lively atmosphere of Nice.
Very beautiful, scenic and lively avenue along the coast with passengers walking around in numbers even at midnight. And the avenue is exceptionally bright, of course.
Quang T — Google review
There’s nothing like witnessing the sunrise during a morning run along the promenade. Ending the run by dipping my feet in the sea and listening to the waves and birds is a truly wonderful way to begin the day. It's a perfect moment of peace and connection with nature!
Manar A — Google review
Beautiful pebble beach with public shower options
Ankur V — Google review
Great views of the bay and the city. The promenade is apparently over 7 kilometers long and offers lovely views of the water and the city. You can also get a great view of planes taking off to land and coming in at Nice airport! With so much seating available it is a fantastic spot to park up with some takeaway food and watch the world go by. It can be especially pretty at sunset. If you are visiting Nice you will probably walk along here a bunch of times
Connor G — Google review
Wide, wonderful, paved walking path between the town and the sea. Sit in one of the famous blue chairs to watch the waves and the beach scene. It's an enjoyable stroll at any time of day.
Ron S — Google review
Great for walking, jogging, people watching. Mostly crowded. Sunsets can be beautiful 🌇
Priyamvad T — Google review
Nice is a very beautiful city. I could not have enough of it. The clear blue water and the buildings are just breathe taking. Even from the airplane I could see the blue color of the sea. This city should be seen on feet, walking around is the best to see its beauty. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the long beach. It was difficult to walk with my feet in the water because it was a stone beach not sand one.

Every visitor to Nice must visit here. The sun and beach, this is Mediterranean life.

Museums
The Marc Chagall National Museum is a tribute to the works of the Russian-born French artist, showcasing his paintings and other artistic creations. The museum's architecture by Andre Hermant complements Chagall's use of color and light, with large windows illuminating lithographs, sculptures, and paintings. Visitors can explore Chagall's biblical and spiritual inspirations through free audio guides in what is the largest public collection of his works worldwide.
This national museum houses a permanent exhibit of Chagall's paintings, stained glass, and mosaics. The paintings are from his biblical cycle. A documentary film illustrates the creation of the four seasons mosaic. The museum is located in a quiet park, including a cafe and restaurant.
Beat S — Google review
Nice’s museum opened by and dedicated to Marc Chagall - primarily consisting of his ‘biblical’ works, and those related to religious themes and tropes. Interesting to see this line of his work compared to some of his other more famous pieces. Not overly big, but interesting for any art lovers.
Matt W — Google review
The Marc Chagall National Museum is located in a primarily residential neighbor situated on the hills of Nice. This museum was inaugurated while Chagall was still alive and it houses several of his paintings as well as explores his famous mosaics. There are tours available on a first come first serve basis. Guillemette, our tour guide, was extremely informative sharing insights into Chagall’s history, his collaborators, and his inspirations. We learned about the process of making mosaics too from creative inception to the actual works. What’s more, there is an outdoor cafe that’s serves sweet and savory, hot and cold snacks and beverages that is also worth checking out. Keep in mind, you will be asked to remove your water bottles and any food that you bring with you so best to avoid bringing them. Recommend bringing very small bag if any at all. Spent a delightful couple of hours at the Marc Chagall museum enjoying his art and the natural surroundings. Highly recommend
Nanita — Google review
Visiting the Chagall Museum in Nice was an absolute delight. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, it feels like stepping into a peaceful world filled with color, imagination, and poetry. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by Chagall’s luminous blues and dreamlike scenes that seem to glow from within. What I loved most was how personal and intimate the museum feels — it’s not overwhelming, and you can really take your time with each painting. The biblical message series is breathtaking, and the stained-glass windows add a special light that changes the whole atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, and the small garden outside is perfect for sitting for a few minutes to let everything sink in. It’s one of those places that leaves you both calm and inspired

The Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, France together with the Matisse Museum were my unexpected finds in a vacation that was just free flowing and no detailed itinerary. At first, I was apprehensive as it was my first time to visit a museum on my own and in another country even. However, I did not regret my decision to forego seeing Cannes in favour of the great works of Chagall and Matisse all in one day! The 75 or so Euros cost of Uber (Holiday Inn Hotel - Matisse Museum - Holiday Inn - Chagall Museum - Hotel) plus tickets in both museums was definitely worth it! The Chagall Museum was inaugurated on July 7, 1973, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. It houses a large number of artworks donated by Chagall, his wife, and his heirs to the State of France, including the 17 Biblical paintings inspired by the books of Genesis, Exodus and Songs. The museum is located in the Cimiez district with address Av. Dr Ménard, 06000 Nice, France. It stands on a vast plot of land donated by the city of Nice. The entrance to the museum is 10 euros and is opened from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM it closes on Tuesdays. I bought my ticket in the museum without hassle and entered immediately. #MarcChagallMuseum #MarcChagall #FrenchRiviera #museum

I don’t consider myself as a very artistic person and usually not sure about how to interpret modern art. But in this gallery I did enjoy simply looking at Chagall’s masterpieces and felt a beautiful soul, an innocent mind, and curious attitude toward the world.
Yulan Z — Google review
Sadly it's in need of upkeep but the art is still spectacular. The fountain around the outside mural is empty. And the museum closes for lunch. And the red room is posed off. You can only view it from it's entrance.
Marc L — Google review
Biblical Message cycle: The centerpiece, displayed over 12 walls in a distinctive rhombus configuration, delivers a striking visual narrative with intense color, spiritual depth, and dreamlike quality . Song of Songs paintings: A smaller, intimate series with red-dominated canvases blending sacred, carnal, and musical themes . Stained glass & mosaics: Notable are the stained glass in the auditorium and the Prophet Elijah mosaic overlooking a reflective pool—Chagall’s own in‑situ creations. Free parking available . Suggested visit time: At least 1 hour, more if attending an event or exploring the gardens . The Musée National Marc Chagall is a heartfelt tribute to the artist’s spiritual vision and remains one of the most authentic places to immerse in his biblical-themed art. It’s especially compelling for fans of Chagall or those seeking a serene, contemplative museum experience. For casual visitors, a one-hour visit is sufficient to appreciate its beauty and thoughtful architecture nestled in a Mediterranean garden.

Plaza
Place Masséna is a charming and historic 19th-century plaza located in the heart of Nice. It is surrounded by neoclassical buildings, cafes, and upscale shops, making it a bustling city square with plenty to offer. The square hosts various public events and is connected to the pedestrian zone, providing easy access to the Old Town and seafront.
Place Masséna is an iconic square in Nice that is located near shops and restaurants on one side and the entrance to the old town that is steps away from the seaside on another. The black and white tiles complement the brightly painted buildings on either side. What,’s more, the famous Catalan artist Jaume Plensa has a remarkable installation there in the square - just be sure to look up. There are several cafes here on the square / plaza itself. It’s a must when in Nice!
Nanita — Google review
I wandered through Place Masséna and loved its vibrant yet calm vibe. The checkerboard paving and lush palm trees make for a bright, welcoming space. Despite being a major crossroads, the square feels surprisingly open—with plenty of benches to sit and soak in the atmosphere. In the evening, the illuminated fountains and soft lighting create a peaceful, magical moment to pause amid the city’s rhythm.

Really good and entertaining place to sit and have a cold draft beer while the wife is shopping. Never boring with all the many different people passing by. Several places to sit in the shade.

You can’t go to Nice and not visit the Place Massena! Located in the city centre and very easy to find! It’s located next to lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Old town and the promenade anglais super close too! It’s a very pleasant square and I really like the colours. Looks even beautiful at nighttime with the lights!

Museums
Villa Masséna Musée is a lavish museum housed in a stunning villa on the Promenade des Anglais. The museum is dedicated to the Massena family, whose history intertwines with that of Nice, Napoleon, and France. Visitors can explore art, furnishings, and personal belongings of the family as well as a captivating collection of artifacts from Nice's history spanning from the 1800s to WWII.
Villa Masséna in Nice is a must! This museum is surrounded by a well kept garden that also has benches. Built in 1898, the villa became a museum some twenty plus years later. Now it showcases it architectural beauty on the ground floor - stately rooms that are beautifully decorated - and then provides a history of Nice and the Côte d’Azur on the upper floor. There are two entrances - one near the Promenade d’Anglais and another on the back side of the property. There is free WiFi and an online tour you can follow. Wonderful all around, inside and out. Highly recommend!
Nanita — Google review
Really interesting museum with lots of early historic art scenes as Nice grew from a fishing and olives town into the city it is today. Lots of interesting Napoleon items as well. Well worth a visit to this cool interior museum especially on hot summer days
David B — Google review
This is a beautiful museum. The ground floor has an alcove, a library, larger-than-life portraits of prominent people, and a hall that runs a looping slide presentation about Nice and this building. Walking up the wonderful staircase, you will find the face mask of Napoleon at one end and the bicorne hat at the other. Several exhibits of Garibaldi and the proclamation of Nice's independence are in the enormous hallway. The rooms have a sizeable collection of statues and posters of carnivals from the city's olden days. When I visited, there was an awareness exhibition about the oceans on the uppermost floor. Outside the building is a beautiful garden with benches to relax. Total time taken: 45 mins.
Debajyoti A — Google review
The gardens are free, you don't need to pay. There are benches, shades, and tropical flowering plants. The manorhouse is very well maintained and quite grand, with three floors of exhibits. It's not handicap accessible, stairs only. The content of the museum is of local interest only. The design of the house is perhaps more impressive than its exhibits, with various paintings of napoleon, queen victoria, and garibaldi. It covers customs of the city e.g. food, songs, and folksy stuff. 10 euros per person, or 15 euros for all museums of the city -- it's about fair. It took us about an hour, without reading the descriptions.
Philippe — Google review
Beautiful villa that was commissioned by Victor Masséna, Prince of Essling and Duke of Rivoli, and grandson of one of Napoleon's famous generals. It was built around 1900 in a Neoclassical style with Belle Époque influences. The ground floor is still witness of that time. The first and second floor are dedicated to the history of Nice and the region with sometimes interesting items.
Seimen B — Google review
After years of visiting museums, you eventually realize most of them are pretty much the same – nothing particularly special about them. This museum is exactly that: nothing special. If it’s raining outside and you just need a place to hide from the weather, stop by. There’s about 40 minutes of content, give or take. Just be careful with the security staff — if you slightly move a curtain to check if it’s still raining, they’ll warn you not to touch anything. Also, I get that everything is in French and I respect that, but come on — this is a tourist city, at least give us descriptions in English as well. So I had to improvise and make up my own explanations, which honestly made the whole thing more entertaining than the actual exhibition. On the bright side, they do have a beautiful garden with free entry — and honestly, it’s a million times better than the museum itself. Overall, I left disappointed.
Filip P — Google review
The splendid Museum of the History of the City of Nice: the ground floor boasts exceptionally rich interior architecture. The lush park overlooking the sea is also worth a visit.

The Promenade du Paillon, also known as the Coulee Verte, is a 2 km long park in Nice that divides the old and new towns. It features diverse plant life, fountains, a play area for children, and a reflecting pool with water jets. Designed by landscape architect Michel Pena, this green space follows the path of the subterranean river Paillon and offers art installations and unique flowerbeds from around the world.
Refreshing place with a lot going on! Paris olympics going on so lots of people, different sports, water fountains, kids playing, green spaces. Everyone is happy and having fun!
Zafar M — Google review
Walking through Promenade du Paillon felt like a breath of fresh air in the middle of Nice. The mix of fountains, green spaces, and playful areas made it feel alive and relaxing at the same time. I loved watching kids run through the mist fountains while locals lounged under the trees. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment I ended up spending much more time there than I expected.
Can M — Google review
Discovered the park with our 4 little kids , it’s pure paradise both for kids and adults to shelter you from the unbearable afternoon heat . The kids loved the numerous fountains, then moved to the wooden gym-set and lots of other attractions, there are plenty of benches for adults and you may simply rest on the soft grass. There is a lot of greenery , beautiful birds. On the downside, during the weekends the place gets very busy, even overcrowded, and some people smoke right on the grass next to the kids!!! Smoking at such a place must be prohibited!!! We also saw a huge rat passing by the bench;)
Anna K — Google review
Beautiful, refreshing pedestrian-only greenway stretching for many blocks between the main shopping areas and Old Town. Several playgrounds and water features make it fun for children. Many trees, shrubs, flower gardens, benches and tables make it a relaxing, calm spot to sit and rest, enjoy a picnic lunch or just people-watch.

French restaurant
La Merenda is a renowned establishment in Nice, known for its traditional cuisine and cozy atmosphere. Chef Dominique Le Stanc, formerly of the prestigious Negresco restaurant, left behind his Michelin stars to focus on simple dishes made from fresh local produce. The rustic dining space offers a nostalgic experience while the ever-changing menu highlights the best ingredients from the French Riviera.
Wonderful experience at La Merenda. It's a small restaurant so reservations are recommended. We got the fried zucchini flowers, stuffed sardines, tripe, and pesto pasta. Everything was delicious. The pesto pasta was definitely the standout and one of our favorite dishes in France. It's pretty cool to see how the chefs work in such a cramped place but somehow it all works out great. Highly recommend if in Nice.
James — Google review
I would really put this dining experience amongst the top I’ve ever had. I’ve eaten at a lot of Michelin starred places, and to be honest I’m a bit fatigued with the pretension and over attention to precision. Eating here made my partner and I feel like we were eating at home. Not the connection to the actual dishes, but the love and care that went in to the food. And the tables being very close to one and other also felt like home. The food was amazing. None of it was less than excellent. Washing it all down with a few glasses of local wine was the cherry on top. Great service as well. Merveilleuse
Eddy — Google review
You absolutely need a reservation The atmosphere is intimate and charming, a perfect backdrop for enjoying traditional Niçoise cooking. The pesto pasta was excellent, silky and rich, while the slow cooked beef stew was chewy though the meat itself was fairly standard. The potatoes served alongside absorbed the broth beautifully, soft and slightly mushy but full of flavor. Altogether its a place to enjoy simple, authentic cooking with care ideal for a date.
Mert E — Google review
La Merenda is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you’ve left. Small and unpretentious, it serves the most authentic Niçoise cuisine — simple dishes prepared with honesty and care. There’s no printed menu, only a handwritten board, and the space is so intimate you end up sharing the atmosphere with locals and travelers alike. The service is warm, the setting unpolished yet charming, and together it all creates an experience that feels timeless. Eating at La Merenda is more than a meal — it’s a reminder of how beautiful simplicity can be.

This little gem was recommended to us and when i couldn’t get reservations for another week I knew it couldn’t be missed! It’s a small family run place with incredible heart and tastes of héritage! The open plan kitchen is très cool - and the service was attentive and not over bearing! The seating is intimate which is actually lovely to chat to your neighbours. The food is delicious my only regret not ordering more. We started with the pasta pesto, and zucchini flowers followed by the lentils and beef stew! All equally delicious, really beautifully simple and humble dishes made incredibly well! We also branches out and got the green dessert! Something I cant explain you just have to try - tortes de blettes! Réserve your seat ahead of time and enjoy provencial Niçoise food!

One of the best restaurants in Nice. The chef and the team are true professionals. All dishes were just amazing. Especially the pasta with pesto is their signature dish.
Burak G — Google review
We were incredibly lucky to get a table for two just by walking in and asking for a seat yesterday. The food was absolutely fantastic! I especially loved the caramelised onions on the Pissaladière — so beautifully cooked and full of flavour. It was my first time trying this Niçoise dish, and it was a real treat. The pasta was hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time — rich with the flavours of pesto, garlic, and cheese. The beef stew was hearty and comforting, and the panisse as had the perfect texture to complement the tender beef. We ended the meal with a warm lemon tart that was simply divine. You could really tell how much care and effort went into every dish. What truly stood out was the thoughtful gesture of the restaurant splitting each dish for us, as I was sharing the meal with my husband. Thank you for making our visit to Nice so memorable. I look forward to coming back on my next trip to try on other dishes on your menu!

A Culinary Gem in Nice Pesto pasta that melts on your tongue, a slow-cooked beef stew bursting with flavor, and sardines that redefine “fresh.” No fluff, just extraordinary food made by a real chef. Bistro
French restaurant
Bistrot d'Antoine, run by husband-and-wife team Armand and Sophie Crespo, offers a cozy dining experience with art-adorned walls. The restaurant serves hearty French bistro fare at affordable prices in a lively and rustic setting. The daily menu features inventive meat and seafood mains, complemented by Italian desserts. If the place is full, patrons can also consider visiting the equally charming Comptoir du Marche or Bar des Oiseaux, owned by the Crespos.
We had a lovely time at this place. It was after 21:00 on a Friday night and we had no reservations. They had us grab a drink next door as we waited for a table, they cane and got us one drink in. The service is great. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is so charming. Would definitely recommend!

We ate here in late-June and could not have picked a better meal in Nice! The steak and swordfish were cooked perfectly and the team recommended great wines for the dinner. Make sure to call ahead via the number on Instagram.
Tyler S — Google review
Spectacular. Nothing else to be said. We were walking on Rue d la Préfecture and came across Bistrot d’Antoine, looked at the menus in English and thought I sounded good. The seating in the restaurant is typical European. The waiter was direct and to the point. In my opinion it’s about food experience and dining not about the pleasantries. The food was wonderful. My favorite was the warm octopus salad and the eggplant. The flavors, textures and look were all first rate. Found out after the meal they were a Michelin rated restaurant. I can see why. If you’re in Nice France it’s a must. Bon Appetite.
J B — Google review
So we picked this restaurant because it had good reviews and it was on the Michelin guide. But we had the WORST experience ever! My boyfriend had the cod and I had the swordfish. Parts of my dish were cold and my boyfriend's entire fish waa still cold and sticky. We sent it back and the server was so rude about it, no apology or anything. Very rude and disrespectful. When it came back it was still pretty raw and the server was very rude again. When we tried to ask about the dish the server just completely ignored us and grabbed the plate and sent it back again with no apology. When the cod dish came back the third time, they removed all other parts of the dish like the "caviar de courgettes" and just left my boyfriend with a small piece of fish with some of the sauce. Ridiculous! This is the worst dining experience I've had. DON'T GO. I don't normally leave bad reviews unless it was really bad but I hope this can be helpful for someone

May 2024: A trip to Nice is not complete without a meal at Bistrôt d'Antoine. The first time we went, we were supposed to have dinner at a 3 Michelin-star restaurant in Monte Carlo that evening, to cap off our trip, but a couple of days before, we cancelled - we wanted something more chill, more local - and discovered this place instead. Best decision ever. The food was so good, the place was so right, it brought a tear to the eye. (Not sure the lovely server knew what to do with that.) We've been back a few times since and it just keeps getting better. Last time we got to introduce a couple of our kids to the restaurant and they loved it as much as we do. It's the kind of place that makes you feel so lucky to be alive and in that part of the world. May 2025: We recently had our 6th or 7th meal at Bistrot d'Antoine (at least) and this time it was a lunch with my parents who were visiting us in Nice, for a very special trip. The experience is worth an edited review (addingto my 2024 one, above), so I am adding to it. Our original plan was to dine at Bistrot d'Antoine on the night of my parents' arrival, but when I called I found out the restaurant was closed exceptionally for vacation. Alternatively, after more planning, we decided to arrange for a lunch on my parents' very last day with us. We were all excited for them to enjoy our favourite Nice restaurant (well, tied with La Merenda, which we also visit annually). On arrival, at noon, they did not have our reservation, which was puzzling and disappointing, because I plan things down to the very last detail. After some back-and-forth, we were lucky to have been given a table. I know enough that snagging a last minute table here is not something that happens every day. As we sat down, we learned that I had actually made a reservation at Bar des oiseaux (their sister restaurant where my partner and I had dined a few nights before, on arrival in Nice). The mix-up was my fault - when I was rearranging the plans because we could not book on the day they were closed, I know must have switched the numbers - both were in my phone. Their playful and confident (they were so sure they had not messed up), yet professional and service-oriented response, so that I could show my parents this special place, followed by what was probably the best meal of our entire trip to France (and we had many), is the reason I keep coming back and recommending this important place. Just go. And make sure you're calling the right number when you make your reservation. And try their other restaurants (Bar des oiseaux and Comptoir du marché) as well because they too are absolutely wonderful.

Our fav dinner in Nice. The food was amazing and staff is very nice. They have 2 seatings - 7 and 9 and we went for the 7:00 seating. The pork cheeks were our fav super tender and fall apart. The other dishes were great too we got the tuna egg roll and steak tartare - we got 1 app and 2 mains between the 2 of us and were full. They put a lot of thought into the seasoning and make sure that the taste has depth and is well balanced. I was very impressed. Would definitely recommend coming here and making a reservation.

We only had one night in Nice in late-August and this place kept coming up in recommendations - and we were not disappointed! Very inventive dishes, beautifully presented. I had the sour soft-boiled egg, followed by the duck. The duck was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend booking as we showed up as soon as it opened and got the last table - and you don't want to miss out!!

Seafood restaurant
Le Café de Turin is a renowned seafood restaurant located at Place Garibaldi in Nice, offering a Parisian brasserie experience. For over 100 years, it has been a go-to destination for seafood lovers. The menu features an extensive selection of fresh oysters, shellfish, and other seafood delights. Visitors can enjoy sidewalk seating and a relaxed atmosphere while indulging in the excellent fresh products prepared by the fishmonger right before their eyes.
This place is a must visit. It’s actually larger than we thought. The seafood platter is exceptional. We had traditional version with the largest sized oyster (number 1). Super fresh and super creamy! The oyster is actually better than the other very fine restaurant we went to the day prior. We also got an extra order of the medium sized prawns. If you are a prawn lover, you won’t regret it! It’s very fresh, also sweet as well! Service was exceptional! We left a wallet in the toilet by accident, the waiter brought back to us. That place was busy and many passers by. Great place, great food, great service, great value. Love it!

Food 9/10 - one thing I cannot stand is to put bottom of plate on top of bread (see photo). The bread has become so dry, because it’s been cut and put outdoor in heat and wind to be ready to serve. It’s convenient to do so but the food would not stay fresh. Customer service 5/10 - The waiter we got at first was very impatient and rude to tourists. His colleagues were acting normal. I’m sorry for the chef, good food was ruined by one bad waiter. Edit: having read other comments I would like to point out that we are also East Asian, speak English (been living in Europe for many years)

The oysters were absolutely divine, fresh, briny, and perfectly presented, paired beautifully with prawns, tarama, and crisp bread. Everything tasted of the sea, simple yet exquisite. But what made the experience unforgettable was the service. Christopher, our waiter, was the highlight of the evening. He was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. His warmth and professionalism elevated the whole meal and made us feel at home. He made an exceptional wine suggestion as well. If you’re in Nice and want seafood done right, this is the place. Ask for Christopher, he will make your visit exceptional.

They are quite purely a seafood restaurant. It is not necessary to choose the pre-set platters. We chose the big oyster and big shrimp which are delicious. Their mussels are in the right taste of the french style. It may be a bit expensive but worth to try

A great place for Oysters and fresh seafood. The tables are small, but the plates are big and filled with delicious shrimp, mussels, etc. we went for a lunch and tried the degustation platter and added some more dishes. it was plenty of food and we enjoyed the staff and also the relaxed atmosphere wand conversations with the people next to us. check it out!

we were unfortunately disappointed by the food and service of this restaurant. we ordered a seafood platter which had inconsistent quality of seafood. for example the mussels, some were incredibly fishy while some were fresh. oysters (no. 3) are the salty briney kind which was decent. whelks were very fishy as well. the fish soup (19€) was pricey and average in taste. but most importantly, they were so understaffed we could hardly get anyone’s attention and had to wait long periods for small requests.

Great food, we even wanted to come back here the next day since we haven't tried everything. However, the waiters were very rude. It looked like something happened among them, but it's not visitors' fault right?, so why should we participate in it and be impacted by their bad mood? They threw cutlery on the table aggressively, ignored us, and when we paid and waited for one of ours to come back from the toilets, they pushed our chairs while we were still seating - apparently hinting that it was time for us to leave.

Nazim , the cheese guy from Maison Perrert recommended this place stating “the seafood is the freshest you will find”. He was not wrong, the octopus carpaccio was so tender and flavorful mere words can not describe it. The prawns and langoustines were sweet and tender. We also had the lobster pasta, which we ordered while seated after reading another review. Amazing. Great meal, good staff, prompt service. Cant say enough!

Restaurant
Chez Davia is a charming French bistro located in a bustling area between the main train station and the Promenade des Anglais. This family-owned institution has been serving sophisticated Niçois cuisine with a modern twist for three generations. Chef Pierre Altobelli has infused traditional recipes with a touch of modernity and sometimes exotic flavors, presenting classic dishes with particular care. The restaurant's warm and comfortable atmosphere, complete with red gingham tablecloths and vintage furniture, adds to its appeal.
My husband and I had lunch here on a Saturday and it was fantastic. The service was friendly and helpful, the food was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the wines were delicious. A friend recommended it and I will recommend it to others and come back whenever I'm in the area. Everything was fresh and delicious!

Refined, elegantly prepared local food. An absolute delight from start to finish. Portions suitable for 3 courses which was perfect for us. The produce is local, fresh and prepared in a delicate and very tasty manner. Wine recommendation was superb. The dining room is small creating an authentic atmosphere. Price fair for the quality and execution. We can’t wait to return - thank you 🥰

Yesterday we had a very unique dining experience at Chez Davia! We wanted to sit without reservation but had to wait 30 minutes for a table and I’ll just say it was definetly worth the wait. The atmosphere is quite cozy and authentic, inside aswell as outside. However the star of the show truely was the food! We had the Calamars, thon de Mediterrane, Daube de boeuf and as desert the tarte citron and claufontis. All dishes that I highly recommend trying. Apart from the high quality and excellent taste I also found the dishes inventive. For example the Daube de boeuf was garnished with pickled grapefruit (something I didn’t know I needed to taste. Overall we had a very nice dining experience and want to give a special thanks to Sylvain who was our waiter aided to this nice experience. Definitely a must visit!!

I chose Chez Davia for a special dinner while visiting Nice, based on its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. While the food was solid, the service left us genuinely disappointed. Early in the meal, our server asked where we were from. After learning we were American, he made an unexpected political remark — which felt inappropriate and unprofessional in a hospitality setting. From that moment on, he noticeably disengaged, and other staff ended up handling our table. It left the evening feeling cold and unwelcoming. There were other issues as well: a €50 bottle of red wine was served overly warm with no acknowledgment, and the dessert we’d looked forward to (crème brûlée) was unavailable. Instead, the only option was a lemon tart that had been sitting out in the open on a warm evening — not ideal for a restaurant at this price point. For a €200 meal for two, I expected a more gracious and attentive experience. Unfortunately, the hospitality didn’t match the promise of the kitchen — or the price.

A nice, traditional artisan restaurant. The place feels very intimate. The waiters are a bit rushed, which makes it feel uncomfortable. We had a cold rabbit terrine for starters. It was truly delicious. The red wine was also very good.

The lemon pie is divine—definitely save room for it. We only had starters; the fried courgette flowers were our favorite (though a bit pricey), with a light batter. The pickled ratatouille was refreshing, but the barbajuans were quite dry—maybe that’s how they’re meant to be. The linguine pistou are good but too Al dente (and they taste better at Le Merenda). They forgot our order but made up for it with a free digestif. The acoustics are terrible, so sit outside if you can.

I chose this restaurant for a special lunch based on its status as a Michelin Bib Gourmand and was moderately disappointed in the meal. The food was “good” but not great, and the value is questionable. I had a reservation and arrived spot on time but waited in the doorway for almost 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging my presence. As a result I stepped inside thinking they had not seen me and I needed to approach the host’s station or something, at which time I was harshly told to wait outside. One waiter, who seemed to be in charge, took my order. I chose the set menu. My starter was delivered by another server, and when I finished the starter a third server picked up my plate and asked if I wanted dessert. Perplexed, I informed him I had ordered the set menu and he just walked away. The main and the dessert were delivered without issue. The standout was the Clafoutis for dessert. Overall this was a memorable experience, but for the wrong reasons. It feels overly crowded with tables, possibly more than the staff can handle. The other diners appeared to be a mix of locals and tourists, but has more of a touristy vibe. The service was just clumsy, rushed, and unprofessional. Over my past visits to restaurants in France I have visited many that were as busy and bustling as Chez Davia, but none with service delivered in quite this manner. As a note, I was able to book my reservation the morning of my lunch, unlike the other restaurants on the Bib Gourmand list. I think that is/should be an indicator of where this restaurant compares to those establishments.

This is an experience not to be missed! The food was incredible (the Daube de Beouf and Tarte au Citron were real highlights!), the atmosphere was very authentic (not touristy at all) and we can’t wait to go back! Make sure you book in advance. There were people queuing at 22:00 trying to get a table.

Chez Acchiardo is a family-run restaurant located in the old town of Nice, serving traditional Italian cuisine for over 90 years. The cozy stone-walled dining room offers a charming atmosphere where locals and tourists alike can enjoy classic Niçoise salad, carpaccio, grilled meat dishes, and traditional favorites such as petits farcis nicois and salade nicoise.
We found this spot on the Michelin guide and I cannot recommend this authentic Nice restaurant enough. I mixed up the reservation and the staff was so kind and accommodating to us. They were able to find a spot for us quickly and am so grateful to have had lunch here. We had the signature beef stew with raviolis and the red mullet with green gnocchi. The spritzes were delicious (which we discovered not all spritzes are created equal).

Lovely lunch at Chez Acchiardo. We went specifically to try the Daube Nicoise, and were tempted as well by the duck breast. Both were delicious albeit heavy dishes. The Daube Nicoise is a hearty ravioli with beef stew, and it was tender and flavorful. The duck breast was perfectly cooked. This must be a great place yo try more Nicoise dishes.

Make a reservation!! – that’s the golden rule for this restaurant! This family-run spot, now in its 4th/5th generation, is one of the most well-known restaurants in Nice. You can immediately sense how beloved it is, with the owner warmly greeting many regulars like old friends. Each day, they feature a “special of the day,” which quickly became our favorite part of the menu. The daily special changes every day, so there’s always something new to try – and mine was absolutely delicious. We had a noon reservation, and even before the doors opened, there was already a crowd gathered outside. Most of them had reservations too, so don’t risk it – if you want to eat here, be sure to book ahead! Overall, the food was excellent for a family-run restaurant – very authentic flavors, hearty portions, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended if you’re in Nice!

You can understand why this restaurant is so well established. There was a warm welcome, the service was excellent throughout as we enjoyed dishes such as farcis nicois, cotes agneau, filet de bouef and two mouth watering desserts. Compared with some of its apparent peers, it is excellent value for money. Our only regret is that we hadn’t discovered it on one of our many previous visits to Nice.

Dined here today, arrived 5 minutes before opening and was seated straight away for lunch. We were a party of 3 adults, 3yo and a newborn. The service was faultless, they were so accomodating and we felt so welcome with our kids. They even brought out some colouring and a booster cushion for my eldest. The atmosphere in the restaurant had an old world charm and the food and prices for Nice was great. We ordered the lamb, plat du jour which was a fish and a salad nicoise. Highly recommend the establishment, it was very deserving of its great reviews.

The atmosphere and service here are outstanding. Kind servers, attentive to fill your bread basket up again without you even noticing that it's empty. We tried the Daube with gnocchi, ravioli with pistou, and duck breast with fig sauce. I am not used to a powerful red wine flavour in my food, so the beef in the daube was a little too strong for my liking. The duck was delicious and so was the ravioli. Overall an amazing family restaurant, I can see why people speak so highly of it

From the beginning to the end everything was excellent. We had a reservation for dinner and were promptly seated. In no time at all, we had our drinks served and fantastic bread on the table. After taking our dinner orders, food was served, probably within 10-15 minutes—very good. In addition, our server was outstanding—very personable. Without a doubt, when back in Nice we will eat here again.

Great atmosphere and wonderful service. We tried ravioli with pistou sauce, the daube, and the duck breast. All three were quite good but I preferred the duck breast and ravioli dishes. The duck breast also came with a side and we got the Panisse Maison (chickpea fries). These were good and tasted similar to socca.
