Large beach of several kilometers where it is good to walk. The color of the water changes according to the weather. Beware the sea is sometimes very rough with a lot of waves.
Lots of massage tent all along and many bars and restaurants to enjoy the view.
We weren’t sure whether to bother with this beach initially, a slight concern that it might be crazy busy and full of rubbish etc… however I’m glad we did because it’s one of the most beautiful beaches on Samui.
Sand colour on any beach can appear to change from white to yellow depending on the sun/conditions, but the few days we spent here it was white sand and calm blue waters.
Theres loads to do with bars, restaurants and sunbeds to rent. Plus jet skis etc for those that are interested. It wasn’t too busy in June and there was no hassle from beach sellers. The planes coming in and out of Samui Airport made for an interesting back drop too.

Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui’s most popular stretch, is a 7km crescent of soft, white sand with crystal-clear waters. The southern end offers serene vibes, ideal for relaxation and stunning sunrises, while the northern part buzzes with resorts, bars, and nightlife. Water sports like jet-skiing and snorkeling thrive, but strong currents and occasional litter can mar the experience. Beachside massages and dining are highlights, though crowds and noise may overwhelm some. Perfect for lively beachgoers; quieter seekers should stick south.
Nice beach with clean water and clean sands. Some areas have shallow water so we did have to walk around it and find a good side. Many water sports activities available and some vendors. There are many cafés all around.
Chaweng Beach is truly beautiful – soft white sand, clear water and a long, wide shoreline that’s perfect for swimming, walking and relaxing. It’s one of the nicest beaches on Koh Samui, with a great balance of scenery, comfort and atmosphere.
One thing to be aware of is that from around July there can sometimes be jellyfish in the water. I personally didn’t encounter any, but it’s something worth keeping in mind.
Also, don’t listen to people who claim that July is “dry season” on Koh Samui – that’s simply not true. It does rain, and the weather can be cloudy and unpredictable. While Samui is usually drier than other parts of Thailand at that time of year, it’s definitely not a guaranteed dry season.
Overall, though, Chaweng Beach is fantastic and absolutely worth visiting – just be realistic about the seasonal conditions.

Beautiful place. Personally we found that everything is much larger than it looks in the photos. The kids enjoyed exploring the area and watching the fish in the water that surrounds the temple. A calm relaxed and spiritual experience.

Wat Plai Laem – A Must-See Temple Complex in Koh Samui!
We arrived by taxi in the morning and spent a few hours exploring this incredible temple complex. Everything here is huge, colorful, and full of peaceful energy — statues, temples, and walkways surrounded by water and tropical trees.
The area is clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly quiet even with some tourists around. There are public restrooms, small shops for drinks and snacks, and plenty of shaded spots to relax and take photos.
Each section has its own unique beauty — from the 18-armed goddess statue to the smiling Buddha and the stunning interior decorations.

One of Samui's popular landmarks - also in close proximity to the Big Buddha - Wat Plai Laem is one of the island's most visited Buddhist temples. The expansive complex is situated and seems to be part of a lake - home to many fishes and turtles. There is a dispensing station where visitors purchase seeded food bowl to throw for the fishes and turtles (and birds).
A place to sightsee, take photos, immerse in Buddhist prayers (check and confirm the hours with locals), and a place to give and feed the animals in peace and serene surroundings.
Great place from sacred and spiritual perspective. Great for kids you can feed fish, turtles. A must see if you love cultural experiences. We went off season so there wasn’t a lot of people making it an enjoyable experience
It was a beautiful experience visiting this temple. The Buddha statues were impressive and the atmosphere was very peaceful. Not everything was open, possibly because of the low season, but it was still wonderful to see and feel the spiritual energy of this amazing place.
This wat is barking mad! But worth a visit.

This market offers a vibrant atmosphere and a great selection of local dishes and souvenirs, making it a pleasant place to explore during an evening on Koh Samui. It is quite popular among visitors, so it can get busy around 6:30 p.m. Those interested in a more traditional Thai street food experience may wish to explore some of the smaller local markets as well. Overall, it’s an enjoyable stop for anyone wanting to experience the island’s lively night market scene.
This continues to be the best night market in Samui. There’s an incredible variety of food stalls offering everything from authentic Thai dishes to international favourites. We’re always drawn to the banana cakes, they’re absolutely delicious and this time we also loved the chicken wraps from the vendor next to the central seating area. Any of the Pad Thai stalls are a safe bet too. We skipped the sushi and cocktails due to past experiences, but plenty of other visitors seemed to be enjoying them.
We took some time to sit in the centre and enjoy the beatboxer’s performance, he’s genuinely talented and well worth giving a small tip.
After eating, we wandered around the market stalls. There’s something for everyone, and the sellers are generally open to friendly price negotiations, as long as you’re polite. We picked up a bag last night, and the bargaining was done respectfully, leaving both sides happy.
If you’re in Samui, this market is a must-visit. Come hungry, enjoy the entertainment, and take your time exploring.

Excellent market on 3 nights a week. A great mix of everything from street food stalls to clothes and trinkets. Live music and cocktails and a great atmosphere make a great night out. Plenty of taxis outside if you are not staying in the area. Plus a large car park for those with car or moped.

Bo Phut Beach, located in the north of Koh Samui, is a modest yet charming destination that offers a mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences. This village is known for its well-preserved elegance, with wooden Chinese shop-houses blending seamlessly with modern buildings to create a Mediterranean atmosphere. It was once the main French outpost on the island.
Very pleasant hotel. Nice beach access and rooms. The staff was helpful and very nice. Some of them even remember our names! The breakfast was excellent and they offer lots of choice. And the hotel has lots of activities planned weekly. The management staff actually walk around and speak with the guest. Which is a very old-school, but very nice touch! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Bophut beach is located on the north of the island. It is a 3km long nice crescent-shaped beach. Do not expect a crystal water with white sand on that part of the island. Water visibility is not more than 40cm, otherwise the view on Koh Phangan is nice. Beach is quiet compared to the busy Chaweng Beach. Left part (North-west) of the beach is not really good for swimming as the bottom is muddy and there are many tour boats. Some good hotels on that beach with direct access to the popular Fishermans Village (marketing name) which was called Bophut Village till late 2010 ... plenty of international and thai restaurants and shops.
Stunning location. I stayed in a beach front resort in the area. Like many places in SE Asia, plastic and debris washes into the shore. Rather than complain about it, pick it up and collect plastics from the water for the sake of the turtles and other sea creatures.
Beautiful long beach. The sand is a bit coarse-grained, but still not a problem for long barefoot walks.
The beach is not overcrowded and there is no vehicle noise. Quiet, very pleasant & relaxing atmosphere and there are some nice restaurants to stop by.

My 5th time to Koh Samui, I used to always head to chaweng beach, but now much prefer the more chilled and less busy lamai beach. Easy to find bars and restaurants, good to swim and even better to chill and take it all in.
First time back in over 12 years and I was amazed at how they've allowed beach fronted restaurants and resorts to steal so much of this beach! It used to be an excellent beach. It isn't anymore. Yesterday there was no dry section of beach you could sit on. The sea came straight up to the brick and concrete walls constructed to steal beach space. Even on the edges of Lamai where they hadn't constructed walls, they stole sand to raise a platform to place tables and chairs on, then placed ugly sandbags on the beach to stop the sea hitting their raised sand platform! I was quite shocked at how the local authorities have allowed a prime asset to be so degraded.

We had an incredible evening at Tree Tops, enjoying the Embers of Earth and Ocean tasting menu. Every course was beautifully thought out, but our highlights were the Oyster, the Tiger Prawn Ceviche, the Wagyu, and the dessert — each one a perfect balance of flavour and presentation.
The mignardises were a lovely finale, and the coconut and white chocolate one completely stole our hearts.
A huge thank you to Maya and Golf for their amazing service — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring — and to Jo, who crafted some of the best cocktails we’ve had in Thailand. The Mook and Gaitok (White Lotus inspired) were simply outstanding.

Talk about magical experience. Eating on a 120+ year old tree overlooking the beautiful Koh Samui bay. Thank you to Aom, Golf, and Aye for helping us create the most unforgettable honeymoon experience. Every bite was phenomenal. The wagyu gave me goosebumps and they are so confident in their dessert chef that they had 3 dessert courses and every single one was fantastic. Look no further than Tree Tops if you are looking for your perfect night.
Went for a solo dinner and I must say, this has to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Maya and Golf were nothing short of amazing — their attentiveness, warmth, and genuine care made the evening truly special.
The food was incredible — every dish was beautifully presented, well-balanced, and surprisingly filling for a tasting menu. The pacing between courses was perfect, allowing me to savor each bite at the right rhythm.

Tree Top Dining was one of our highlights in Koh Samui. I booked a couple of weeks ahead and we got a great private table though that day we couldn’t see the sunset- but the evening atmosphere was spectacular.
We loved our food and were super satisfied and full. Maya, Aye and Golf were great in providing excellent service with a personal touch.

Krua Bophut is a highly regarded Thai restaurant situated at the Western end of Fishermans Village in Koh Samui. The restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with the choice of dining inside a classically decorated antique Thai house, on the terrace, or directly on the beach. Known for serving good quality traditional local cuisine, Krua Bophut stands out among the many restaurants along Bophut Beach.
The dishes are good in general nothing out of the ordinary EXCEPT FOR THE SPICY FRESH RAW SHRIMPS IN FISH SAUCE!!!
It’s in the appetizers section, and it was so good that we re-ordered it throughout the meal.
If you like shrimps, and you like spicy food. PLEASE do yourself a favor and order just that.
I kid you not that this simple dish is MICHELIN WORTHY.

Stopped by Krua Bophut for some drinks and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It’s right on the beach, with calm background music and a great view—super chill. We even caught a fireworks show from the venue next door, which made it extra special.
The food and drinks were well presented and reasonably priced, and the service was friendly without being over the top. A great place to unwind in the evening—would definitely come back.
A wonderful restaurant right on the beach, and if you'd like, you can even sit right there. The restaurant's dark wood decor is reminiscent of colonial-era interiors. Otherwise, our food was once again excellent, and the friendly service made our evening at this restaurant unforgettable. So if you want a really good meal, you should definitely visit Krua Bophut. We had a wonderful dinner at Krua Bophut last night. My husband really love stir fried Cashews nut with duck and Tom Yum kung. He preferred less spicy for foreigners,It was very delicious and big portion. My favourite menu is Steam sea bass in lime,chilli and garlic dressing .It was very fresh and delicious.
The restaurant decoration was stunning with Thai style and atmosphere was very good with sea view.

Really good place, at first we hesitated since the rating wasn't off the charts, but I'm really glad we came in. The atmosphere is great nothing beats the beach vibe. Service was really good, we were greeted and immediately seated, the waitresses were very nice, attentive and helpful. And the food, wow really really good, we had the green curry, steamed fish with chilli and lime and the fried fish salad. Every dish was better than the last.
Well-prepared Thai staples are on the menu here. The portions are generous, definitely not over-spiced, and all served with a smile. What makes this place special are the three dining areas: inside (traditional teak), outside (chilled, yet feel the buzz from the market) and best of all..beach! That Singha really slides down when you are bathed by the setting sun, and with sand between your toes.
The experience at Krua Bophut was one of the absolute best dining experiences in all of Thailand. After hearing from many others that the food at this restaurant is delicious and refined, we experienced something that surpassed our high expectations. After my meals here, I look forward to my next meal at this delicious restaurant.
Absolutely walk in seating , we were told the only seats left were on the beach ! Jackpot as they had to be the best seats in the house. Sat with wonderful breeze blowing three the trees from the sea . Food was absolutely lovely and would definitely recommend to anyone.

The best Thai restaurant on Koh Samui! We've been 12 times on the island and only this year we found this cafe and kept eating there the whole vacation. You will never find such a variety of dishes anywhere on Koh Samui, every traditional dish can be cooked a dozen ways and it always tastes great. My favourites are curry seafood of all the kinds (panaeng, massaman, green, etc), pineapple rice is also great, my husband's pleasure was fish cooked in different ways (sweet and sour/in panaeng curry). The portions are great, shrimps are really big and make you feel full and satisfied! The owners speak English pretty well, and are really kind and nice, the woman is so active and energetic and always makes you smile with her energy and drive. We'll be missing you and your food so much! Good luck to your cafe and see you!

I've been to the restaurant for quite a few years. Especially on rainy days when i need some hearty foods, e.g. great curry, excellent tom ka gai (chicken in coconut milk soup). They have a readily available English menu. Even though i spoke very little Thai, it's been easy to order.
Great spot! We ate here twice and would have gone more if we had more time. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. The staff was so kind and friendly to our family. The massaman curry and seafood options were delicious. Made spicy to your preference and smoothie or cold beer go just nicely. Highly recommended you check it out!

Coco Tam’s is a popular open-air beach bar situated on the picturesque Bophut Beach in Koh Samui, Thailand. It offers a relaxed tropical atmosphere with beanbags on the sand, swing seats at the bar, cabanas, and shisha. Visitors can enjoy chilled out tunes and stunning sunset views over the ocean while sipping on refreshing drinks.
This place is overpriced (in comparison to other restaurants in the area) but its truly worth it. The pizzas are to die for. I actually really enjoyed the freshness and the high quality of the ingredients, I believe the pizza served here is way better than many many pizzas I have eaten before at italian restaurants in europe (& including Italy). The pastas are also delicious, portions are very generous and its very fresh! the entertainment at night and just the atmosphere of the place is amazing & fun. We ended up coming to Coco Tams 3 times during our stay, all those times we had a wonderful experience. The fire show was very cool. The dj was amazing.

We had heard a lot about Coco Tams and we were very excited to visit and celebrate a birthday. We got there early to spend the whole evening there. The staff were attentive and even when it got busier there was still a good level of service and we were never rushed. The fire show was very good and entertaining, if you intend on just visiting for this alone then ensure you arrive no later than 6pm to get a table. The venue itself is very clean and visually very beautiful and right on the beach.
The reason for the four stars is because the food was the biggest disappointment. It was very expensive for what it was especially in comparison to very nearby restaurants in the same tourist hotspot. It was only Italian choices which I was surprised at and I would have preferred Thai food options but understandably they are catering for tourists from all destinations. The food was good but it is hard to go wrong with pizza and pasta. There were a good selection of drinks, including cocktails, which were well made but again were more expensive than other nearby places.
It is worth a visit as it has a great atmosphere.
A very happening place, the pork dish I wanted to order was sold out. So we ordered the pork ribs instead , which is very good and big portion, could not finish so we packed it, the next day we eat still very nice . The onion soup, pizza rolls, and dessert tiramisu was very nice. To top it off, we saw the spectacular fire show!
Coco Tam's is located in the heart of Koh Samui's Fisherman Village.
It's a great place to come for a drink or dinner and in the meantime watch the fire show, while sitting on large cushions placed directly on the beach.
Every evening there are two shows: the first at 19:15 and the second at 21:15.
We were here in August and arrived just before 7pm. They brought us into a kind of waiting room upstairs, where we could order our first drink.
After about 10 minutes, they took us down to the beach before the show started and we took our drinks with us.
The show lasts about half an hour and it is a good experience to start an evening in a different way.
Admiring the show has no cost, but consumption is requested.

No charge for fireshow.. just relax drink eat and be ready. Local street vendors will offer products between shows but don't press you to buy if you don't want.
An oasis of cool air and cold drinks on any hot and humid day in Thailand awaits at Coco Tam's. Uninterrupted views out over the water, as the boats come and go and you enjoy your cocktail or anything else from their extensive drinks list. The menu has a good range too, with the wood fired pizza a personal favourite. The staff were all very friendly and happy to look after us as we went through preliminary drinks, lunch and one of the best coffees we had whilst in Thailand. A great place to stop as you travel through The Fisherman's Market.
We visited Coco Tams to watch the fire show and sat on the comfy bean bags right on the beach — such a great setup! We arrived early to join the queue, which was definitely worth it to get a good spot. The fire show itself was incredible — really entertaining and interactive, with the performers getting the crowd involved throughout.
The only downside was that the service could be a little slow at times, and it was sometimes hard to get someone’s attention for another drink. The menu was also a bit on the expensive side compared to other nearby places.
Overall though, it’s a beautiful spot with a fantastic atmosphere and an amazing fire show — well worth visiting while in Thailand. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hard to imagine a better place to watch the fireshow than Coco Tam's. Not only can you access the full menu while overlooking the beach, but at the bar next door they will actually serve you (a more limited menu) on the beach. And the food itself - while pricey for Thailand - is delicious. One of the only places we've found Western-style salads so far (the Caesar salad was really good) and the pasta is also tasty and well-made. Definitely the best Western food we've had in Thailand.

it is worthy coming to Samui just to eat here. the place it self is stunning, the waitresses are professional and kind, and the food... wow! not sure if it's more tasty or beautiful. i am vegan and i got the highest level of dishes. make a visit even if you are not staying in the hotel.
One of the restaurant options at Six Senses Ko Samui. You need to speak to your GEM when you are there to book in advance and it's slightly more expensive than dining on the hill but it's a great restaurant with either a set menu or A La Carte.

We got the vegan tasting menu and were shocked at how awful it was. One of the dishes was just a head of broccoli, grilled. Our main course was some potato in curry sauce. Another dish was skinned cherry tomatoes and yet another raw grated zucchini. Nothing special was done to these ingredients to bring out the flavors or make them interesting in any way. Everything tasted like baby food. It was super disappointing as we had heard great things about this restaurant and were looking forward to a nice, creative, plant-based meal. Avoid at all costs. The ambiance was a dud too. The views are nothing to write home about. It's a hill, and you see the sea. The service was good though. Thank you to the staff for their attentiveness and kindness.

What a beautiful setting for dinner. Perched on the cliff, with beautiful Six Senses decor and setting, going there just for the view, setting and ambience made it worthwhile. We were lucky that it was only a few tables occupied during our seating that we had almost the entire setting for ourselves which made it even more special. It is definitely better to start your dinner early to catch the sunset as you do get amazing views and sunset shades.
Service was another aspect which was special. Service by the six senses team was personal, authentic, warm, friendly and professional. Having stated in a few six senses property I would rate this team as one of their best and kudos to the management team for such good training and development.
Food wise, we thought it was 4 out of 5 for us. All the dishes were perfectly seasoned, cooking style was fresh and kept it simple, letting the produce do the talking and overall was good and we didn't have any complaints.
Overall we had a special dinner in a beautiful setting with some amazing views.
