Large recreation area with wooded hiking trails, plus a rope course, miniature railway & golfing.

Great park, lots of paths to walk with varied scenery leads to canal which you can walk and loop back round to the main park. Saw horse riders, cyclists, runners. The free park itself is well built with lots of challenges for the kids. Behind it was a small forest where the kids where making lean to shelters with the downed trees and branches. There is a paid high rope section however it's 8+ Also on site whilst visiting was a small amusement park. There is a square of various shops from chocolate to a pizzeria, deli, cafe and farm shop. The delivery we found to be great value and not too expensive. There are also ice cream vans dotted around if you are after a sweet treat. Parking is paid but reasonable at 3.50 for the day. Altogether it was a nice day out and would return.
Was disappointed to find the miniature train was all blocked off for maintenance, had all year but choose the first week of the summer holidays to do it, so, thought we'd go and look at the hall...nope, not possible as that was enveloped in a huge white screen, ok, so we went to the cafe and was charged £10 for a baked potato!! Parking is not free and you are not allowed to use a blue badge... had a little play area for kids and mini golf and Go Ape, " ornamental " pond was more like black slime and full of lily pads, totally neglected, lots of space for kids but lots of dogs off lead, so be careful, take a picnic too to save yourself some money
I've been coming to this park for several years now and honestly, I feel like it is going a bit downhill. We arrived today and the two main play frames were sectioned off for repair. The funfair had stopped even though all the kids aren't back in school until at least Thursday. The go ape climbing was shut. The little train track is NEVER running when we go. It looks like it's undergoing maintenance but never seen anyone working on it. The duck pond has blue algae in it and doesn't seem like it is being treated. The main gardens with the lovely trees have been shut now for about 2 years. No idea why! The toilets are really smelly and the soap box hasn't been fixed in at least 12 months and you could really do with putting some toilets down near the smaller wooden park as I've been caught out twice there now with my toddler who needed a number 2! Luckily had bags on me for her to do it in! On a positive note, the cafes / shops are great. There's some woodland you can walk through which is good to explore. There's a range of play equipment suitable for all ages and 2 places you can play mini golf. Plenty of sit down spaces and picnic tables. Parking is cheap and you can spend hours there on a good day. The new flower garden is really lovely. There's a great little bird watching area and the shop on the way in is selling wild bird food for you to put on the tables. Wigan council need to do a lot better! This is a well used park and would be so much better with access to all areas!
We had a lovely day here. The park caters for all ages. There are 2 crazy golf's, my nearly 4 yr old grandson loved his first time playing this. The staff in the crazy golf were really friendly guy's and at only £1 per person, it's well worth visiting. We went to the cafe for lunch and the staff there are also very helpful and friendly. Only 2 highchairs available that we could see but we managed to beg one off a lady who's child had finished eating and also passed ours on after we finished with it. We also visited the small funfair. Tokens only and each token cost £2.50. Only thing I don't agree with is that the parent on the rides with small children have to pay a token too. We will definitely be going back there.
Great place for a walk, plenty to do come along and try out the Low and High Ropes course. A few places to get food and drinks.. a couple of ice cream vans and a shop. Kids park and fairground rides at weekends and school holidays. Parkrun every Saturday good route on trails which can be muddy at times it’s down hill a loop then back up the hill.
My two children, 11 and 8, and I, had a brilliant time here yesterday. It was a little disappointing to find there's quite extensive renovation works going on at both the hall and along the miniature railway, and this is the reason for the 4☆ review - not that we minded the work at all, it's clear this is in the best interest of the hall and the miniature railway, but that there's no mention on the website or Facebook page (which I checked prior to our visit) and also that we didn't know the path passing the swan pond to complete the 1 mile circuit was closed as there was no signage until we got there. It didn't make our day any less enjoyable, as we followed the path around past the victorian kennels ruins (a huge hit), then followed the canal back to the car park, but those paths weren't suitable for pushchairs or scooters so families with younger children would've had to turn back. Our 1 mile walk turned in to a lovely 3 mile trail, which we finished off with a picnic, a few fairground rides (all very quiet, I expect due to the rides costing £2.50 each), and an ice cream from the van (£10 for 3). We did head over to the playground, but we found the equipment a bit too busy for us so we went back to find their favourite tree and had a bit of a climb before we left. £3.50 for the car park all day is a bargain when compared to other similar locations, particularly as there is so much going on here for children. We spent 4.5 hours here in total, but could easily have stayed all day, and we look forward to returning when the miniature railway re-opens as the kids would've loved this. It would just be nice to know before you travel what closures are in place, so you can plan your day accordingly.
Haigh Hall and the surrounding plantations, AKA Haigh Woodland Park are a great place for a bit of R&R. The main path through the plantations is wide and and is surfaced with tarmac making it accessible for all. It's both dog and cycle friendly with several entrances that include access from Swinley, Whelley and Haigh. As of March 2025 the main hall, a listed stately home, is currently undergoing restoration however there are many other facilities in the immediate vicinity. These include a sprawling playground for the kids, high rope adventure, mini golf, a great little bar and numerous cafes and shops. There is also a large carpark close to the facilities for those who wish to arrive by car.
Very nice , popular country park , with plenty to see and do . I went for the adventure golf , and walk around the shops , which were all close together . The shops are quite small , with plenty of eating options . They have several golfing options . Standard golf course , footgolf ( you kick the ball into a hole ) , adventure golf ,and a smaller/cheaper crazy golf course . Did the adventure golf which was very popular and reasonably priced . The theming was old school charm , and even had a moving viking ship . The holes were well presented if a little worn . The playing surface was super smooth and fast , probably because it is well trodden . This made putting out tricky , as a missed putt could travel a few feet past . Also on occasion , the ball would roll out of bounds . There are two water holes , which can slow things down , if you go in the water , there are scoops available to fish the ball out . I was alright but the groups in front of me had problems . Good course , enjoyed it , might do it again sometime . There is lots of parking , which is reasonably priced , and how no issues with the pay machines . The park is about 15 minutes off the motorway and makes for a fun stop .

This stadium had a simple yet eye-catching design. Despite being relatively small, it offered a great atmosphere. I attended the derby match against Bolton Wanderers — even though the home team lost, being in the stadium was an amazing experience.
Wrexham game with my son, so was packed in the away end with 4800 fans. Seats are very steep and bit difficult to get in and out of with so many fans there.. Plenty of bars and food areas. £8.50 for a pie and bottle of Coke. Visitors car park is only a few minutes from the ground and easy to get in and out of.
I took my 7 year old girl to her first wigan warriors match i got the tickets in the morning of the game it was a double header, the lady in the ticket office was very helpful and explained to us where we could sit and went and watched both games my daughter is now hooked on rugby league and can't wait for the next game. thanks to all staff very helpful and well educated about how to deal with the public thank you for making her first game special
First time watching a Rugby match, today i had good luck, was a presentation of Billy Boston, it was an amazing experience, good show, and the final score was awesome Warriors won 30- Giants 10! I really enjoyed it
Took my 5 year old daughter to watch the warriors v rhinos game last night. We had an amazing night, the staff were really friendly and so were the home fans. Brilliant stadium, we could see all the action from our seat, the pyrotechnic show was a nice touch! Loving the futuristic style floodlights and the laser show! We felt very safe here, food and drink was reasonable in price for a sporting event and entry/exit to the stadium was really easy and straightforward. Big thanks to all at the brick for putting on a good show! See you all again in 2026!
Brick community stadium 🏟 Home to Wigan athletic football club ⚽️ Nickname Latics, Tics,,Founder in 1932, Thris colours are blue and white stripes, Although all-blue shirts have been common throughout the club history, The club regards Bolton Wanderers as its primary derby rival, Wigan lost in the league cup final in 2006 and won in the fa cup in 2013,Beating Manchester city in the final, What a fantastic stadium for all football fans to come to ⚽️
The brick community stadium in Wigan is a fantastic venue that perfectly captures the excitement of live sport. Home to both Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors, it offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for every visitor. The stadium is modern, clean, and well-maintained, with comfortable seating and excellent views of the pitch from every angle. The staff are friendly and professional, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience whether you’re attending a football or rugby match. The energy from the fans is electric, creating an unforgettable match-day buzz. A brilliant place to enjoy top-quality sport and community spirit!
Neat and tidy, but soulless because it was empty. Neat statue of Dave Whelan with the FA Cup outside. Pies not as good as I was led to believe they would be.

What a beautiful walk, the snow was still on the ground, easy to follow trail. We had a 11,10,8 year old girls with us and they loved it
Mega place for young kids, parking is limited and it's a shame it's stamped as a purely locals area, get it but, it's so so good for kids, lots of glitter in tree trunks, coins bashed in trees, at least one fairy door if you look hard enough(very tempted to discreetly add a couple more). Go with respect and leave no trace and this is a pleasant walk with a babbling stream and a few waterfalls. Lots or really nice interactions with other walkers, yake some wellies for kids and let them be a little mucky and wet it's well worth it
I visited the area with family a few weekends ago with the plan of a nice family walk and talk get-together. This is a lovely walk. Not suitable for tots or buggies. I normally prefer a loop walk but this was lovely. There is plenty of shade and cover from the elements of needed to keep you cool and dry. A few post fences to step over, includes forest, open fields and river sections with a turning point in a quaint spot for some refreshments and a comfort break. Whole walk takes about 2 hours at a steady comfortable pace.
Beautiful woodland walk around a shallow stream with hobbit style bridges and little waterfalls. There's a couple of benches to take a rest on but not advisable for either wheelchairs or people with mobility issues as there are several sets of steps and the ground can become quite boggy. We walked the dog and it's best on a weekday and in term time.
Visited fairy glen today. It was OK. But slightly disappointed especially hearing about it by others over the last few years how great it is. I've been to better places. It's just a woodland area situated in Parbold wigan with a few small waterfalls. Surrounded by residental area, fields and a busy A road. I parked on Stoneygate lane to gain access to fairy glen. Be careful as you park. I had a local resident leave a polite note on my car that I was to parked over on the Footpath. I disagree. But hey ho! Life is life. I won't be going again. It's a nice shaded place to take dogs on walks and also for little children to explore and have a splash in the running waters there. Lots of steep steps to walk up and down and uneven ground. So if not good on your feet be careful. There are a few memory benches situated around the Glenn that visitors can sit off on.
Twas good. Trees and stuff. Whimsical woodland paths with wooden bridges and some small waterfalls and streams running through with some interesting features and fairy dust. No specific parking we could find apart from in a nearby lay by next to the coffee and cake van. Probably wouldn't be great if you have accessibility needs due to steps throughout. Pathways have access to fields throughout and has a few entrance points so still maybe worth a try even if you do have accessibility needs. No public toilets or other facilities as far as I could tell. Our dog had a good time
Had a lovely walk through Fairy Glen, walked along the canal and into Parbold.
A beautiful walk, once you manage to find the entrance to the Fairy Glen!

Drift league GB did not disappoint! And neither did three sisters! What a great venue, staff was bang on, the place is tidy and well looked after! The atmosphere was great! Walking around the pits talking to the drivers and teams was great! The Facilities are good! The Portaloos were the cleanest ones I've ever been in. The cafe was ok & so was the bar - there could be a better selection of drinks i guess but other than that what a great family day out! Well be back for sure!
Excellent experience from start to finish. The only let down was the prices for photo packages as always I believe if they were more reasonable people would buy them but 54 pounds for 2 videos and photos they had a buy one photo for 19.99 but that's not encouraging seemed extreme if all of those customers brought them there photographers daily rate was more than a lawyer 😉 😀 but it didn't effect our day whatsoever son had the best time and we will 100% be back
Came here for first time yesterday as was looking for something to do a little different . Came across a drifting day event so went over ...entry was £5 each and was a good day . Facilities are toilets bar and cafe ...food all looked good and reasonbly priced...would come again for sure . Only advice is bring your own camp chair or blanket ...people brought there own food and drink aswell if you are on a budget
Took my son to three sisters race circuit, you have to pay £2 parking on your way in, there is a bar for drinks and food, my son had 6 laps in the bat mobile but for some reason only had 3, so I went and spoke to the lovely lady who signed us in and she sorted and he got to do 3 laps in a subaru which he absolutely loved driving. Was very busy there. You get to get pictures and videos of your driving, not cheap but worth it, to keep as memories. Highly recommend.
Cracking track for the little 125s and well looked after . Nice little bar, pits n paddock area was a little cramped due to so many competitors for our event , too many none race vehicles wanting to park next to friends who were racing . We were hemmed in on all sides , could only just get the bike through to the track, there is actually plenty of parking for none race vehicles, it just needed some sort of control who parked where. Apart from that one niggle it was spot on .
Felt a bit ripped off here, paid for 2 experiences for my daughter, and my 10 year old grandson. Done them before, but always had an option to buy the colision waiver, not here! You HAVE to buy it, or provide a credit card with a £5k limit on it. So adding to the cost of the 2 vouchers was a further £70+, then a further £10 for training. So bargain experiences, became an expensive one. They both enjoyed the well organised day and I'm glad I took my camera, to avoid the high cost of a momento. (Make sure you give the lanyards and memory card back, or there's a further £80 charge)
I still love this place the Tuesday bike track evening are brilliant. Just turn up hoof round and smile. There are always a couple of good photographers around to make you look cool.
My son had the BEST time in n the police interceptor car. I'm really glad we got there earlier, because we were only number 3 in the queue, any later and we would have been there for much longer. It was chucking it down with rain and there is limited shelter to view the person driving, so I stood in the rain. We booked using a Virgin Experiences voucher, but on the day ended up spending at extra £71!! Make sure you save up before the day in expectation of this. Overall, he had a great time, but for 3 laps of a track, over £100 including our travel and ending up really soggy, I don't think it's worth it.

We had our wedding party here after getting married abroad. We absolutely loved it! The venue is gorgeous, lovely high ceilings a traditional backdrop for any event. Michelle who runs the old courts is a very friendly and welcoming host. We will definitely be using this venue again for any future parties!
Had a wonderful experience celebrating our daughter's 18 birthday party with extended family and friends at the Old Courts this weekend. Jo, Michelle and the team were all so obliging in helping us plan all the details in advance and make the event as special as we had hoped. Nothing was too much trouble. Guests kept commenting on how gorgeous the venue was and helpful and friendly the staff were. Especially enjoyed the additional quiet space of the judge's chambers and the lovely bar. Even the loos are nicely finished. Beautiful atmosphere- an unforgettable evening.
I recently hosted my 30th birthday party at The Old Courts in Wigan and couldn’t be happier with the experience! The venue is spacious, full of character, and has a lovely quirky charm that all my guests adored. The booking process was simple and stress-free, and the pricing was very reasonable. A special shoutout to Jo and Michelle—both were absolutely amazing and made everything run smoothly. Highly recommend for any special occasion!
Held my 40th Birthday Party at the old courts last week. Everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was. It has real atmosphere. Michelle the host was super attentive and helped me sort out a bar tab for first drinks and a cocktail for the night. It was all very laid back and easy to deal with them - no drama. I was particularly pleased when they cut the cake into pieces for me - not a job I was looking forward to. The whole team were fab, friendly and helpful. It is so cheap to hire too! I’d definitely recommend.
The most wonderful wedding venue, which offers a tailored and personalised wedding. Strongly recommended. The best choice for the wedding venue. The brilliant staff involved on the day of the wedding, Kristie, Nicola and Emily and Nikola did an extraordinary job. Additionally, a special personal thank you to Nikola and Michelle for their ongoing support, management, patience and professional help with any issues before the ceremony. Thank you so much for making this day special and memorable.
Visited the old courts for an engagement party. Absolutely stunning building! Such a lovely venue. The staff, all of them were amazing. So friendly and welcoming and helpful, especially Michelle and the bouncer lady that was on the door and the lady that was cleaning up at the end, but I didn’t get their names. Service was efficient and the buffet area was great too. The lighting and the sound system was good. it has made me think that the next time I have a party that requires a function I will definitely book it myself! Great place , an asset to Wigan x
Absolute ball! Michelle R was amazing and so helpful. She spent the night making sure everything was going smoothly and blew our really difficult balloons up with no problem! I honestly can’t rate this place enough it was an amazing experience. Thank you again Michelle R and all the staff that also helped.
We had an amazing wedding day thanks to Michelle, Jo and the team at The Old Courts. Michelle made the build up to our wedding more manageable and less stressful by going above and beyond. Thank you to Dani from Rock and Soul events for making the venue look magical and thank you to the amazing Zha Olu for singing and getting the vibe going. We would definitely recommend The Old Courts to anyone looking for a venue for their wedding!

The play "Spirit Level" was a delightful surprise – funny, thought-provoking, and superbly acted. It's truly a hidden gem. I hadn't considered going to the theatre before, but I was proven wrong! This venue has a rich history and boasts a beautiful interior. The range of shows is diverse and popular, and they offer a reasonably priced, inviting bar area staffed by friendly volunteers. It's an all-around welcoming place for a fantastic night out, and I'll definitely be making more frequent visits in the future. Now, the only question is, what should I watch next?
We saw Neil Simon’s play “The Odd Couple” last night at Wigan Little Theatre. It was an excellent production, really funny, well acted, costumes and sets were superb. Theatre itself was a lovely old place, comfy and clean, great bar area and place for teas coffees etc in the interval. This is a gem of a place, run and maintained entirely by volunteers. A local treasure belonging to Wigan ❤️. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Quaint place. Good performances. Staff lovely and helpful. Refreshments served and reasonably priced. Seats terrible, no leg room and I'm 4ft9in. You feel like the person next to you is sharing your seat. Very steep stairs to upper level.
Went to see the Odd Couple earlier this week. Absolutely brilliant. Took Grandson with us to his first theatre performance. He loved it and can't wait for the next time. Thanks very much.
Wonderful experience, excellent actors performing in a lovely little theatre. My wife and I enjoyed the Addams family musical performed by a cast of very talented people. We have seen many theatre performances around the country, most of them at London theatres, and can honestly say we enjoyed this performance as much as any of the others we have seen. Well done, and thank you, we will be back in the very near future.
Great local theatre with excellent shows every year
Great evening watching the railway children. Bought tickets for a friend on her birthday. What a great evening the actor's were brilliant. Will definitely be booking again for another play.🤗
A great theatre and some very fine acting. Made to feel very welcome by the informative staff at the front. Enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to going again very soon. Lastly the drinks were very reasonably price, they didn't treat you like a captive audience like other places do. Fantastic evening.

This place rocks!!! There's talent levels at all ages, the best dj, huge floor, the best cafe and an awesome shop for all your pads, wheels, skates, bits anything really😝 prices are cheaper than chips and you can do the skate hire also, the music and lighting really gives it the best atmosphere, we look forward to our next visit🌈 seeya there⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really god surface and family environment to enjoy a skating session. Lots of youngsters there so you do need to take care but that is no problem
I had an excellent experience here today. My son thoroughly enjoyed his first roller skating lesson, and the entire team was welcoming and professional. In particular, Loraine deserves special recognition for her outstanding coaching and for taking the time to assist me with my skates as well. The pricing was very reasonable, both for the skating session and the food, which exceeded our expectations in terms of value. We look forward to returning next week. Thank you for providing such a well-organized and enjoyable experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really nice staff, though there was only 3 of them they did ridiculously well. One even helped our lad skating, the others running between the bar and kitchen had the time to be nice and pleasant though extremely busy. Very big room to skate. We had a private party and would recommend for sure.
The most fun thing you can do on wheels. This place is like stepping back in time to a bygone era... Wigan Roller Rink is one of (if not the largest) indoor skating rinks in the UK. Located within an old mill workers dining hall the rink provides a party style atmosphere where you can skate and dance to club classics and party songs. The staff are so friendly and helpful assisting both adults and kids with their techniques so you can always get round the rink safely. The rink includes skate hire, a cafe, bar, and a shop so you have everything you need right there. This place just makes you feel good. Kids love the novelty of skating and adults like being kids again for a few hours.
Wow this is a fantastic old school roller skating rink, with a fantastic wooden floor, half term trip out with kids, skate hire, food and drink for young and adults, amazing 2 hours of fun filled disco, very friendly staff, will definitely be returning, 😀
We'll what a gem this place turned out to be... Despite the stoney and bumpy entrance to this place on part of an industrial unit it's a diamond in the rough. We went as part of a part package and or kids haven't skated before so this was going to be interesting. I'll be honest it first impression want great, but it's clean. That said the staff are amazing and attentive. The prices more than reasonable. The atmosphere is fantastic. I watched staff serve food and beers, others skated around with those rolling and falling, to which they we're always present when needed. They were just great. I couldn't fall to be impressed. It is what it is, it's great fun at great prices and I doubt you'll be anything less than impressed for the price! We'll done Wigan roller link
great price for a few hours of skating, skate hire is only like £1 on top of the regular price! great atmosphere and music, all levels of skaters (including complete beginners like myself) are welcome. plenty of parking. can’t speak to the quality of the food but people are there eating it so it mustn’t be bad 🤷🏼‍♀️ trying to go to the toilet in skates is a whole new kind of sport 😂 loads of parking so that’s not an issue either. can’t believe my mum didn’t even know this place existed!

I was passing Wigan on the M6 and decided to pop into town for lunch. Came across the museum by accident and what a delightful place it is. The building itself is beautiful inside and out and the displays are excellent. Everything from the Egyptians to life (the good old days) of living in and around Wigan and the UK itself. I especially loved the upstairs and the reference centre that would not look out of place at a top uni or college. The staff here have done an amazing job and the people of Wigan should be proud of this little museum with a big personality. Above all it is entirely free to mooch around for hours.
Very informative and interesting local life displays. Free to enter, helpful lady on the desk. Fantastic reference library upstsirs including national data too, accessible via a lift or stairs, could easily spend a few hours researching. I was only visiting Wigan for the day but well worth the visit.
Super yeah 😁👍! finally, it's HERE. 😇👉🌍 Shari'ah-Britain Policies - alcohol free zone. That's super cool.😎. 🙏👼🎉 God bless. what a library ✨ what a 'clean' location surrounding a Museum. id advocate that that's how all museums, library, leisure centres , bus train tram stops show be street labelled. adorable #teetotalism
A charming little museum about the history of the city. The section about George Orwell's time in the city is particularly interesting. Admission is free.
With time on my hands in Wigan for a morning, I sought out the only museum listed in the town centre (the excellent Wigan pier museum from my childhood is no more apparently) so I followed maps and discovered the low key entrance on a side road. First off, it is small. If you're hoping to kill a few hours here, heck an hour, you'll probably be disappointed (unless you're researching family history/genealogy in the excellent library part). In a room the size of a standard McDonald's, over half of the display space is given over to Wigan musical heritage, particularly Northern soul. If you are a fan, and Wigan Casino is/was your mecca, then you will find a lot of material and exhibits here to bring back memories. It is a fascinating peep into this facet of the local story. The rest of the small space quickly runs through several other subjects, Egypt - fascinating but brief, the civil war (which I found interesting) and feels all to brief and rushed as an afterthought to the northern soul. The staff are warm and friendly, knowledgeable and are probably the best thing about the museum. If you have half an hour to spare or if you are a fan of Northern soul, definitely pop in.
Museum is OK but a little small , but the archives upstairs are much more interesting. Free use of Ancestry too. Helpfull staff and loads of historical records to look at.
Good museum lots of goof stuff inside would recommend a visit
Lovely friendly people who work at this place , The museum was built by the same person who built the town hall in Manchester and the natural history museum as a library

Such a beautiful place. There are three lakes with trails all the way round. Particularly beautiful in April when all the bluebells are out there is benches nicely placed for perfect view spots. At the far end of the second lake there is a trail that goes into the woods very beautiful with bluebells and a river. Very popular with dog walkers and families fishing is permitted There is a free , large carpark . Highly recommended for a day visit.
This is a beautiful walk definitely come here again paths are very thin , but have to go single file if there are other people walking ahead , parking shuts at 4pm on weekends as the gates will be locked so head down early worth a visit
Great local walk with a car park if needed. We walked here from Haigh Hall along the canal through the woods at the back of Wigan Golf Course off Arley Lane. Nice and peaceful and a few different variants of the same walk to mix it up a little and good wildlife. Unfortunately no café or anything like that for a coffee or snack but worth a trip all the same
A nice place. However it lacks sign posts. We unfortunately cycled to there and it turned that cycles are not allowed on the footpath and dam.
An oasis of calm, interspersed with marauding ducks. Great place for a short walk on the flat, although some parts of the path get muddy. Picnic tables are available at a couple of locations, as are benches. Look out for the horseshoes on trees along the path!
Lovely little circuit to go running or walking. There are some offshoot paths leading elsewhere that I've yet to explore and ple ty of picnic and fishing spots to park up at. Beautiful sunsets can be seen all throughout the year with plenty of photogenic sites dotted along the walk. It's also a good spot for bird watchers as the lakes and local fauna attracts all species, especially swans and geese. Beware of huge piles of geese poo on the top half as that stuff sticks to shoes and bike treads like chewing gum ina little girls hair. Bad memories of a brilliant place! Official stance on dogs is NOT ALLOWED. Unofficial stance is clean up after it and keep it under control near the birds and runners or you'll be swimming next.
Great for a short walk. Good free parking.
Love it when i am the first to review a place. Like the first person to walk on the moon, i feel i have made history. Well the lakes are very nice, occasionally you get a murderous fisherman there that tries to lure innocent little fish to their death, but you don't see them much. If you like ducks you will be jumping for joy. Plenty of ducks to throw your bread at. I just hope the murderous fishermen never get a taste for those poor ducklings and that those ducks never end up on some restaurants menu

Absolutely amazing place, so much to see and learn. Interesting enthusiastic knowledgeable volunteers. So important to visit and support here!!! Lovely little tearoom. We got to see the winding engine working and wow.... So incredible, what a beautiful machine. Definitely visiting again
I brought my 3 children aged 5-11 here. We had a lovely talk with a gentleman called Stewart who told us all about his time working in the mines. I could listen to him for hours. It was amazing to see what sort of machinery was used to cultivate the coal and how little room they had down there. They have a tribute to 5 miners that died which was emotional to see. I would recommend visiting on the last Sunday of the month as they have the engine running. It's free to enter but donations are welcome
Staffed by very friendly and helpful volunteers, it's an interesting place to visit. You can wander around as you choose, although better signage may be needed...I'll go again sometime, if only explore the places I missed. I was advised that the best time to visit is the last Sunday of every month, when the winding engine is operational and the pit railway does passenger runs on the site's narrow gauge railway. There is an on-site car park and plenty of picnic tables scattered around.
This experience was amazing!!! I learnt so much from the REALLY friendly staff!!! The refreshments were cheap and really nice!!! Everyone there volunteers and is so helpful! We came across interesting people who told us so many facts that were really interesting!!! It's so sad that not enough people visit! I recommend coming here! 100000/5 ⭐
Fascinating displays including the winding room with working engines, a miners cottage reconstructed and many static exhibits. A small train runs across the site. Really good place to visit and FREE!!
If you are remotely interested in local history, engineering, and mining you must visit this place ! They have all sorts of mining engineering from pit props, wagons to underground locos . Plus a surviving pit head gantry, a working engine room (runs on last Sunday of month), a pit head area for lamps and safety gear, a miners cottage and a working railway (see timetable online). There is a tea room and shop. But the volunteers make the place! They are so helpful and knowledgeable. They make the place. There is also a very poignant display of 5 pairs of miners shoes near the pithead in memory to 5 miners who lost their lives in an explosion in 1939. The museum is free, but PLEASE donate as they need the donations to run it. Fantastic place and going back to see the engine running!
A great little museum with an amazing, running winding engine and original pit head gear. Well worth a visit if you are in the area or a direct visit on the days the engine is run.
Great place you can look closely at all the old machines and on certain days the engine is running for people to see there is a gift shop were I got some tasty honey 🍯 😋

Excellent Italian locally produced Ice Cream. Lovely setting in the park, great views from the Ist floor gallery.
A well kept public park with a fountain, café, bandstand, play area, pond, waterfall, and some sports facilities.
it’s a really big, clean park. Has playground and a super cool statue, a lake where you can feed the ducks, nice cafe shop to grab a coffee, tea or ice cream. You can do your work out, running, or riding bicycle, do a picnic as well. A relax day taking the sun
A lovely place with plenty of benches, beautiful greenery, and well kept flowers. The park is peaceful, with ducks and pigeons by the lake and lots of spots to sit and relax. There’s also a coffee house serving nice treats like ice cream, sandwiches, and biscuits. The area is wheelchair accessible, and I absolutely loved my visit.
A great park. Really well maintained. Been coming here since the 70s
A beautiful park ,which you would not expect to find in the centre of Wigan . Lovely for a stroll.Complete with Frederick's ice-cream parlour, serving snacks, drinks and of course their famous ice-cream
A park where you can spend time with your family, friendly to animals.

Lovely venue. Staff are really helpful and friendly A must visit.
a great shopping center, I recommend it. prepared very well for Christmas. on the first floor, who loves books, there is a huge bookstore, on the second floor there is a good cafe with delicious coffee and delicious food. it is now my favorite shopping center in Wigan
Amazing amd great place for shopping with the outdoor space suitable for relaxing after shopping. Many restaurants and pubs around as well. You'll not return home hungry after shopping.
Modern and bright with a variety of shops.
Site of the old Wigan Casino and home to a very good George Formby statue. Really nice Shopping Centre with free toilets and it was kept very clean.
Big shopping centre with all amenities in great shops arcades and toilets and cafes. Good size parking with reasonable prices for a town centre.
Quite sad these days with markses, H&m, Next, TopShop, Debenhams all gone. Still has new look, Clarks, Superdrug, Waterstones. For now! Even the Costa has shut. Still, it's the nearest Waterstones and the muffin break is good for a cuppa. I park here if I am going to the primark, also our nearest. Frankly if the shops mentioned opened in robin park I'd never go into wigan centre at all.
The shopping 🛒 centre is good and big enough for buying your Christmas 🎄 presents 🎁. Maybe some areas needs updating and the parking could be cheaper...... £3.10/2hr.
