This ancient hilltop castle houses a history museum with exhibits on the area & the castle.
Slide 1 of 8
A large, marvellous and well-preserved castle complex right in the centre of the small town of Trencin, but at the same time high above it. Its walls and towers are intact and there are large inner grounds with several buildings. The most important one has a pretty high tower which you can climb to the very top via an increasingly narrow and steep corridor. Once you reach the top you’re almost among the clouds. There are exhibitions inside too and a small souvenir shop. If you are in the area, this castle is a mandatory stop.
A historic site with a beautiful view. It can be reached via a longer gravel forest road with a steep incline — hiking shoes are highly recommended! Much of the castle is under renovation, and many areas are closed. With the basic ticket, you can mostly explore the castle walls and visit one exhibition, where nearly all the signs are in Slovak — English translations are only available via QR codes. When we visited, the exhibition also included a retro display of strollers and children's toys, which was quite interesting.
Very nice place but should better manager. Any way Worth to visit, you can walk around it in max 2 hours. The main Tower is the Best. Nice to see the park and city too.
Trenčín Castle is stunning on the outside, but the interior and exhibitions are a bit underwhelming. When we visited, it was partly under reconstruction so there were some areas that we could not access. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful castle with amazing views.
A lovely castle to visit. You can spend up to a few hours there. The entrance fee is very fair. Amazing views open up from various vantage points of the castle. Highly recommended for a visit!
Nice big castle, worth the visit. Doable with kids, we went up with a 3 and 6 year old, but it's quite steep. We did around 5 km, visited almost every corner.
Great place with lot's of history. If you don't mind a steep climb up too the castle . In the village square there are plenty of bar restaurants at reasonable prices.
It is more a fortress then a castle. Still if you climb in the tower is a very nice feeling of freedom. Also down the center of the town is beautiful.

Nce but out of use nowdays
Beautiful building. Very historical, apparently one of the prettiest in Slovakia. It's an old Synagogue, no longer in use. Looks like it's currently undergoing renovations to be an art center. The architecture is very different from most synagogues.
The Synagogue was closed when I visited. I read that it's only opened at restrictive times. From the outside,it looked badly in need of some TLC. I also looked through one of the windows and it looked derelict.
I believe the architect must have had a lot of fun designing this building. It is so full of small details, arched windows that can be seen through arched spaces seen through actual arched entrances etc. The building is visibly in disrepair. The Jewish community is very small and demographically on a steep decline.
Still closed 5.5.2023 :(
Nice to see historic building but sad to find out it is close and changed to be a gallery
Unfortunately I didn't get to look inside, but the architecture is beautiful.

It is an amazing czech town with a very nice view of the castle above and the main square in the centre.
The Mestska veza, also called the City Gate is a six-storey Gothic style gate of the old fortifications of the town gate and built in the 15th century. It was a Sunday when I came to Trencin and the tower was closed, so I didn't get a chance to climb it. It looks okay. The current structure makes clear the original function as the gate of a fortified wall. There’s a clock now at the top of the tower, but other than that, there's not much to see.
A lovely place, with an amazing view. You can go to the top of the tower which is amazing, especially for a few pennies so an amazing view
Nice landmark of main square.
(Translated by Google) The Trenčín City Tower is a significant historical monument built in the early 15th century as part of the city fortifications. It originally served as the Lower Gate, which protected the entrance to the city. It was gradually rebuilt and raised to six floors, thus acquiring its current characteristic appearance. The tower is approximately 32 meters high and offers a magnificent view of the city center, Trenčín Castle and the surrounding countryside. It is currently open to the public during the summer season and houses an art exhibition space inside. A visit to the tower is a great way to start a tour of historic Trenčín.

If you buy ticket to Trenčín castle guide tour, then entrance is for free. Lady told us about life of executioner. There are three rooms. Two on first floor and one on second.

(Translated by Google) The Executioner's House is a Renaissance building from the early 17th century, located under the Trenčín Castle on Matúšová Street. In the past, it served as the residence of the city executioner, who lived here and prepared for the execution of sentences. In the basement there was a prison, where convicts were held before execution. In the 19th century, the house was used by the city police and later became a historical monument. Today it belongs to the Trenčín Museum and houses an exhibition on medieval justice, torture instruments and the history of punishment.

I need to thank security guards of this mall for their help because they literally saved my and my mother's life. We've been stalked by a very strange person and the security guards not only defended us, but even drove us home so we will feel safe. If I could give 10⭐️ I would, because I'm really thankful for their help
Amazing shopping centrum with lot of variety. Also food stations and many coffes shops. Petfriendly (any behave dog is welcome)
Good selection of shops in here.
Biggest mall in Trancin, but not close to the size of those in Bratislava. Some shops are also around, but quite far to carry the things. So movement by car still required. Big parking - definitely free slot can be found here. And it is free of charge almost everywhere. Some obvious minuses: traffic jam each business day in afternoon hours, police monitor specific part of parking quite frequently (there is not too obvious sign, which gives possibility to collect some fines), toilets only in one part of the building.
Boring as heck. I can hardly ever buy anything. The selection of brands is very poor here. Furthemore, the sales assistants avoid any eye contact and are oftentimes unwilling to help. I have had a few really really bizarre encounters; once the sales person suddenly squatted down behind her little counter to become invisible and to avoid any interaction with me and my partner and then she emerged and proceeded to play with her cell phone, still completely ignoring us and pretending we didn't exist. We were standing almost next to her but she just wouldn't acknowledge us. Elsewhere, there was a young lady whom I had to chase down throughout the entire store, and once I managed to catch her I found her filing her nails between the aisles. She gave me the deer in the headlights look and almost fainted out in shock that a customer wanted something from her. I could mention a few other ludicrous stories but suit yourselves and find out for yourselves.
I like here to go with my wife. We always find here beautiful clothes and shoes. And after couple of hours of shopping, you can enjoy a coffee ☕ time in the nearest restaurant or take some quick bites. The children can enjoy a playground in the shopping mall.
Very nice environment and shopping experience. Don't forget to check the restaurant directly towards escalators. Their coffee cooked on sand, with cardamon and excellent tomyum soup need to be tasted!
The biggest shopping centre in the region comprising of mainly European high street brands, complete with a centrally located food court. Convenient for finding clothing items under one roof, but a rather average experience overall. Parking is more complicated than it needs to be.

In the 16th century, during a fire that engulfed the city, the church and the castle itself, it burned down and the building continued to be used as an armory. It played an important role especially during the Turkish invasions. It is currently being renovated and houses a collection of sacred art - several sculptures from the 16th -18th centuries. Parking is possible in the city center, for example on Palackého Street or free of charge in marked places in Brezina. (Translated by Google) At the very end of our trip, we stopped at the St. Michael's Carcase – and although it is an inconspicuous building next to the church, it has an inimitable depth and a special peace. The poster by the door invited you to the ossuary, which naturally set a certain type of expectation. Downstairs, you can feel the strong atmosphere of a place where the dead have been laid out for centuries, but when you think of the word "ossuary" you usually imagine a large number of bones arranged in shelves or vaults. In this case, however, all that awaits the visitor is a graphic on the back wall and a few skulls placed below it. From this point of view, it was a bit of a disappointment compared to what the poster at the entrance suggested. If this expectation had not been created in advance, the overall impression would have been very positive. The premises are quiet, the darkness has a dignified effect and here you can stop not only your body but also your thoughts for a moment. On the other hand, it is questionable whether I would have even entered here without the sign about the "ossuary". In any case, it is a place worth visiting - especially if you are attracted by quiet and historically strong corners outside the main tourist traffic. Just enter with an open mind, not with the idea of Sedlec or Kutná Hora. Note: If you have already paid for the castle tour, they will accept your ticket here as well. Michala – a hoci ide o nenápadnú stavbu vedľa kostola, má v sebe neopakovateľnú hĺbku a zvláštny pokoj.

After them, the Congregation of the Poor School Sisters of Notre Dame took over the church. Until 1929, the church was without a tower, which was added in 1928-1929. Since this period, nothing significant has been built in this part of the street. 3 bells were installed on the tower, which are still there today. The tower is not accessible to the public. The church is not big, but it is cozy and has had a very good effect on me since childhood. It is connected by a corridor with today's high school next door (Original) Kostol z roku 1909 postavený v neorománskom historizujúcom slohu. Do roku 1918 patril Kongregácií sestier sv.
