Have you ever heard the name, Ando Tadao? He is one of the greatest architects in the world. Yes, Museum SAN was designed by the master. Interesting right? It is a must see. This will be so epic experience to you. Trust me. Even though I am not familiar with the arts, I could fully acknowledge the value of Museum SAN. For your information, according to their website, the parking area can contain 196 cars.
What an amazing museum and experience. It’s a lovely place designed by an amazing architect, and the artwork is also special. I took part in a tour which I highly recommend doing in order to get an in depth explanation of the design.
One of the, if not the top museum in South Korea. It occupys an expansive area with the mountains with all round breathtaking views. Admittedly, the architecture by Taodao Ando is so impressive that it over shadows much of its interior displays (the outdoor sculptures, especially the mega sized ones doesn't get shines out). The interior architecture is also really interesting with some special corners which are great for photos. At its back is the stone garden, which is a series of curious humps with meditative spaces below. Near it's entrance building is a paid exhibition (costs extra) in an semi underground building that you descends into that is acoustic when you stand in it. The artworks are sparse as one of the main highlight is the building built semi underground that feels like a bunker. Tip: Two of the best places inside the buildings are the cafe (with an outdoor patio that overlooks the mountain) and a triangle meditative space in the middle of a building that is filled with nothingness but rocks and raw cement wall, hence great for some mediation.
Absolutely stunning and worth a trip museum! Do yourself a favour and go for the signature ticket. It costs around 69000 won, pretty much, but it covers the entire complex, lets you visit the fabulous art works of James Turrell, Tadao Ando, others and includes a meditation session. We finished the visit with the signing bowl meditation and left the museum with a beautiful feeling. The only downside is the loud and disrespectful behaviour of some customers, but it seems that it’s limited to only these areas where you’re allowed to take photos (it’s pretty sad that so many people seem to visit the art galleries only for a few snaps and a cute cafe). There’s so much more beyond it in this museum!
"Museum Mountain, the art gallery I've been meaning to visit for a year. When my lovely and adorable girlfriend suggested going, I felt so happy. We set off after enjoying some buckwheat noodles, arriving at Museum Mountain just as the rain began. I thought the museum nestled in the mountains would be even more charming in the rain, and it truly was – bustling with people yet still retaining its allure. It was simply beautiful, like a museum within mist within a highway within mist. The sound of rain mixed with the garden's water, making it feel like sheer luck brought us here. And let me tell you, the soft serve ice cream at the entrance is a must-try, even if it costs 7,000 won. You might think it's pricey, but trust me, the rich milk flavor and nutty cookie taste are worth every penny. It's unlike any ice cream I've ever had before!" -BOFF
My visit was part of a wellness conference. It is beautiful and breathtaking. A must see if you're in Wonju. Do not miss this.
Tucked away above an over priced golf course is an expensive museum with 3 incredibly maintained gardens and the best cafe experience I've had in ages. The tickets are 28 for the full exhibition and 15 for just the permanent exhibition. The special exhibition closes at 5, so we could only enjoy the permanent one but it's worth 15$ for the experience. The mountain view is spectacular. It feels so removed from the daily grind of the city. It's a great getaway. Surprisingly more families with little kids than expected. They have some interactive programs for kids if you go early, and some programs like concerts if you look at there schedule in advance. Highly recommend it. Only an hour or so from southern Seoul.
It was my first time here. but I am pretty sure not last time. This museum was so different, I have been a lot of museums but this one was the best that I have ever been. I liked each corner here , it`s so aesthetic, would like to stay here for an hours to explore each corner. I put here a lot of photos so you can feel the atmosphere of museum. If you are in Wonju make sure to go here, otherwise you will miss really the best museum ever.

beautiful view! the creek was very satisfying to listen to while climbing up to the temple. It was a beautiful temple too. the resident cat was also very friendly and allowed us to pet it.
Still actively used by monks, this temple gets a lot of visitors. It's on the side of a mountain and is surrounded by nice hiking trails. There are some little brooks but visitors are banned from all the deep sections where one could actually swim. There is a gift shop next to the temple, which feels kind of lame but is the norm almost everywhere in the developed world, it seems. You can walk a few km or drive right up. We chose to walk and it was a nice 15 minute walk up hill. You can get coffee or refreshments at the gift shop. The temples are in great condition and pretty photogenic. I've definitely been to worse temples before. Being connected to the local mountain (chiaksan) is a big bonus. It's 4.9km from the top of the mountain.
Neat, historic temple near the northern entrance of Chiaksan National Park. Looks really beautiful set against the background of the mountains, especially in autumn. Worth starting (or ending) your hike here as it is one of the prettier and more authentic-looking temples you'll see in Korea
One of the most spectacularly painted temples I've seen in Korea! I can't compliment this temple enough, also has a cool history.
Make yourself peaceful n calm at here. Fresh air in the mountain.
Beautiful temple. Well maintained. The nearby infrastructures are well organized as well.
This is a nice peaceful temple at the park entrance.
Very beautiful Buddhist tempel in between the mountains. It exhibits the Buddhist history.

Best place to go in Wonju. Exhibit the life and works of super novel writer.

Excellent during the Hanji Festival which happens once or twice a year! It showcases a lot of beautiful lanterns. During the festival, several booths also offer some street foods. It is definitely worth going to.
A small but well displayed museum about the origins and evolution of paper, focussing on the Hanji paper of Korea. Really interesting to see the process of this traditional paper.
There is a gallary which illustrates the paper manufacturing process from handmaking to commercial process. There is also a event in which school going children can take part and learn about handmaking paper process. This is a recommended place for children. There are no entry fee into park. The exhibition hall is open to public with no entry cost.
Best place to experience making Korean traditional paper (hanji) and take a look at their history! There are free museum and hanji making class for 15,000 won! They have cafe too
At Wonju Hanji Theme Park, you can learn everything about hanji (traditional Korean paper) including its origin and history, through exhibitions, education and activity programs. The 1st floor of the theme park is the Hanji History Exhibition Hall, where you can get a glimpse of the past of hanji, such as how it was invented and spread, the history, origin and manufacturing process of hanji, and related artifacts. Visitors can imagine what the life of Korean ancestors was like and understand hanji better. Here also you can make your own hanji lamp with 15.000 Korean won, such a nice experience it was really
For good price we did our own Korean paper lamp. It was so exciting. The park shows also the history of Korean paper making. There is also cozy coffee shop
This park presents the history of paper making in korea. This park also organise lamp making activity. Good place to visit and learn about korean paper making and lamp making
This place is so amazing and the festival is always beautiful. The actual museum is inside the main building and has some neat things in it. You should definitely check it out.

A beautiful area with the amazing engineering of this long suspension bridge. The walkways connecting the bridge are also great to walk along through the trees. W1000 ticket to walk the circuit across both bridges and the Skywalk along the cliff and down the Sky Tower. Several food stalls in the area. Only problem we had was public bus transport was difficult.
Sogeumsan Grand Valley is a nice destination for a one day trip into the nature, where you are still close to the modern conveniences such as toilets and restaurants. The parking is free and if you don't wanna take the stairs up to the Sogeumsan suspension bridge (blue one, 1st on the trail, 200m) you may take the cable car there. The entry to this trail is paid and they do offer a better deal if you take the cable car to the Sogeumsan bridge. On the bridge, please, watch your belongings, because the floor has gaps just big enough for your phone to fall thru. From the bridge the trail continues to the Sky Garden (you can skip this one, if you don't mind taking the stairs), then you have to walk thru the woods to the deck and then you continue to the Sky Tower and the Sogeumsan Ulleong suspension bridge (2nd bridge, yellow one, 404m). The view from both the Sogeumsan bridge and the deck is amazing, even when the weather is cloudy or foggy. There's a lot of stairs on this trail, so you may have a problem to finish it, if you have mobility issues. There's also not many sheltered places to sit at, so if you get here when it's raining, you'll have to stand around under your umbrella.
Not one but two really cool suspension bridges, a nice walk and a very modern gondola- this is a fun day in nature! At the end there are many restaurants to eat local food or have a coffee.
Breathtaking views! Walked up 500+ stairs and came down by escalator. I love the surrounding view of greeneries too!
"Thrilling Adventure and Stunning Views at Wonju Sogeumsan Suspension Bridge" The bridge offers an exhilarating experience amidst nature. Spanning 200 meters in length and standing 100 meters high, the bridge sways gently as you walk, adding to the thrill. The surrounding attractions, including the Uleong Bridge, Sogeum Cliff Walk, and Sky Tower, make this destination perfect for trekking and sightseeing
My second time here, always good to hike, always impressive views and relaxing
Kinda cloudy but amazing various views.
Crossing the Sogeumsan Suspension Bridge is a thrilling mix of slight sways under your feet, breathtaking views of the Seomgang River far below, and crisp mountain air — a perfect blend of excitement and scenery in just a few minutes’ walk.

I'm old and found the idea of climbing a mountain, albeit with steps quite daunting. I am so glad I did. Wonderful views, exciting walks on suspension bridges, being close to nature and knowing that you have achieved something. It's definitely worth doing if you can.
Omg , that is one of the most beautiful places i've been in Korea . Every one have to visit rhis place . Every side you turn its a great spot for photos or just a great memorie .
Really fun place to visit, 578 steps to the suspension bridge, just the first stop on your way to the sky bridge. The little village below is full of food and snacks so plenty to eat and drink. It’s plenty of parking but on the weekend there was a lot of people. I would plan for at least half a day of activity. 9,000 won for adults.
There are plenty of choices of restaurants and some entertainment when you get there. Tickets per person to hike are 9,000KRW each. The trip across two bridges and observatory takes approximately 2 hours. There is a cable car under construction, possibly a year or so to go... just a guess.
What a place, I have to say. It's not free and far away from Seoul but it's worth to visit. There are two long swinging bridges to cross if you want to complete the walking course and the decks off the cliff as well as the the tall observation decks were amazing. To maximize the scare factor, most decks are grills and some glasses so you can see through 100m down when you walk on tall courses. I don't know how busy it is over weekend but it was slow in the middle of week. I highly recommend it.
Good walk with 2 suspension bridge to conquer. Takes arpuns 1.5hr. It's worth a visit.
Great experience. Visit on a working day to avoid all the tourists. Better to drive there as buses from the Korail Station is a bit trickey as most buses run a limited service. Or you can take a tour bus which leaves Wonju City every 1.5 Hours for W5.000.
Visit to Wonju suspension bridge and hike to SUGUM-SAN or Salt mountain literally translated..small hill that you can climb from the bottom in about an hour. The bridge as mentioned in the news was supposed to be entrance free till the end of the year 2018..however they already started to charge 3000₩ per person.

Hiked to the peak through Guryongsa Temple route in November. For first timers and not expert hikers it will take around 6-8 hours (it took us 8) to reach the peak (Birobong peak). The view is spectacular but it is not an easy hike. It is highly recommended to prepare before the hike. There are two routes on the way to the peak. Via staircase or the rocky route.
Great hike but challenging as after the waterfall its is 2.7km of steep steps all the way to the top. Going down will be hard but we walked onwards. To get there take bus 31, 34-1, 34 or 2-1 to Samhan station (just a bus stand) and change to bus 41 to the end at the car park.
Thank you to the very helpful agent of the National Park at 26, Musoejeom 2-gil, Socho-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do. (English spoken). We enjoyed the walking in autumn to Guryoungsa temple : quiet, well signaled, beautiful.
Being one of the major national parks in the country, Chiak emits the graciousness presenting the scale and depth from the inner side of the peninsula.
A beautiful National Park. Hiking trails follow a river with excellent photo opportunities. The hiking becomes rather difficult the second half. There are many stairs so be prepared.
Fantastic during the fall season
Good for feeling Korean nature... But... try me if you kill yourself^^ Just kidding... Really wonderful places... little bit hard to get onto top of mountain.
