Unique rock formation notable for its resemblance to a seated elephant & presence of ancient tombs.
Slide 1 of 8
From the right angle the rock really looks like an elephant, but if you check it around is losing its magic😂 Is an interesting rock. Honestly the view behind it was spectacular. All the green hills were wonderful. But I think that was because we visited in April - I guess the rest of the year its all yellow from the heat.
"A unique rock formation right by the road. We parked on the roadside and walked up to it easily in a short time. Very easy to access and a quick, interesting stop along the way."
So funny to see this rock shaped like an elephant, who knew there were elephants in Sardinia. There is some parking for about 10 cars by the side of the road. If you in the area its worth a look.
It's pretty cool for a short stop before Castalsardo. But be careful because sometimes it likes to dance around. 😉🐘
Worth seeing if you’re nearby, but not worth driving many kilometers just for this attraction. However, there are plenty of other sights in the area.
This was the highlight of our day. Must visit 10/10!
It is unbelivable how the likeness is this rock to an elephant! There was quite some people, but we enjoyed it!
Interesting rocky formation with pre-nuragic tombs. Could be better highlighted with more information / panels and with stricter rules for preservation / protection. Can be quite crowded for such a small POI.

Lovely beach. Clean and good for swimming. Mostly empty this time of the year ⭐️👍 Easy to get to with parking above.
Nice beach but full of rocks, check wind before you go
Had great time, black sand. Left side is calmer and right side is wilder. 🏄🏻‍♂️🌊 The shower is available what is great and you can have a snack in beach bar.
Cute beach with nice cafes and not too many tourists. We had a fun day despite the wind and high waves - on other days it’s perfectly calm!
For scuba diving and snorkeling its perfect. Swimming also great, clean water, some time its windy and it has little waves. For children its perfect as well its isnt deep at all.
Soft sand, pure water, interesting underwater life (highly recommended to take snorkelling mask with you). The only downside - enormous number of people during high season
Beautiful although ricky in spots and some sand not so nice...photo from top of path to beach area
The sea was very shallow, the beach has thin sand and there was shower very close to the exit.

Castello is marvolus sculpture on the top of small Castelsardo, which you can reach by the colurfull stairs. It has some great histiry to show, some art, the walls gives you samo shaddow and the view thru the golf, Stintino and Corsica are spectacular. And you get written Slovenian guide thru the castello..that is something😃
The castle looks good from the outside while inside only the panorama is beautiful. And there are no more attractions as for me. It is not worth the price.
Great views and rich history, just a bit touristy Castello dei Doria offers breathtaking views over Castelsardo and the sea—especially impressive on a clear day. The walk up through the old town is steep but beautiful. The castle itself is well preserved and has an interesting weaving museum inside. It can feel a bit touristy and crowded during peak times, but overall it’s a very worthwhile stop if you’re exploring the area.
Well worth the steep walk from the town park.it is possible to drive up to near tge castle or use the local shuttle bus. Well preserved and home of basket weaving .spectaclur views.
Very beautiful and worth the visit,a lot of history inside.
The Torre di Frigiano is beautifully lit at night, creating a magical and relaxing atmosphere. It would be great to extend the pedestrian walkway from Porto di Castelsardo to the Calisthenics park – it would make the evening stroll even more enjoyable
Coming from northeast you have a beautiful view towards the castello. The historic center is beautiful with its small paths and the Old buildings. We were there in February and enjoyed an almost empty area.
Nice little castle with amazing views over the colourful town and surrounding area. It's quite small but clean and tidy with a nice museum with a bit of history. Worth a look if your in the area. The town is quite nice.

(Translated by Google) And here we are. Church and crypt, and much more to see, so I recommend a combined ticket to visit everything. Again, treasures never seen before and stories never heard before. But above all, once again Martina who welcomed us in the crypt and her colleague in the church, but also Stefania from the Episcopio witchcraft and inquisition museum who fortunately redirected us at the end of the visit towards the MAP of Perfugas... All so prepared , attentive, smiling and passionate. Women Power 💕 (Original) Ed eccoci qua. A lovely place with great views. Nice castle but the museum collection is a bit non-interesting. But ok for this price good enough, also ti see the view from top.
Audio guides were good but poorly directed for the layout of the museum (no signs) so was very confused as to which places were the museum or not.
Not worth your money, there's not much to see besides the view of the sea, but there are some other places with the same view
Walking high above the sea and through the rooms of the castle was interesting, with many great views of the sea and the town below.
The small museum features handmade traps for marine animals, cooking utensils and everyday items. Everything is knitted from grass or reeds.
It is a very beautiful castle that overlooks the entire town.
Very interesting museum
The castle is a great viewpoint and the museum in the castle is well worth a visit.

Very special church on the top
This church is quite unassuming and peaceful, there is detailed information about the alters and statues.
Yeah not much to see here , though the church is old like 13th century
A lovely church with hidden surprises. If you explore the church you can really find the spirit in you. It was an intense experience on the upper floor. Jeezus is always watching.

(Translated by Google) While visiting the historic center of Castelsardo, we discovered this charming 14th-century church, which has two distinctive features: it has no façade and a side entrance. Built of limestone and trachyte, it served as a cathedral until the 16th century, before losing this title following the construction—and consecration—of the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, located a little further down the valley, on the ridge leading to the sea. However, it became the seat of the Brotherhood of Santa Croce, guardians of the "Lunissanti." Composed of a single nave, the main altar in the apse houses an "Ecce Homo"—a sculpture of Christ—placed between two niches dedicated to other saints. There is also a statue of Saint Francis and the famous "Cristu Nieddu" (Black Christ) crucifix from the 14th century, made of juniper wood, blackened by time and carried in procession during natural disasters in Castelsardo.

Great view of the Nurgat just few meters away, on the side of the road you can find a space where to park. Private property so no access.
There is no legal access to this site. There is a fence along the length of the road that keeps people out. You can still get a nice view from the street. We walked up the hill on the other side of the street and got a little better view. Don't miss the elephant rock just a short drive away as well.
Nuraghe Paddàggiu, located along the SP90 road near Castelsardo in Sardinia, Italy, is a remarkable archaeological site from the Nuragic civilization, which flourished from the Bronze Age through the Roman era. This structure is situated on a hill, providing a panoramic view of its surroundings, a strategic choice typical of Nuragic builders. Originally, it was a complex fortress featuring a main tower with a distinctive "tholos" or false dome roof, constructed by progressively narrowing rings of stones. This central tower, approximately 11 meters in base diameter and standing about 8.5 meters tall today, contained two levels linked by a winding internal staircase. Adjacent to the main tower were two lateral towers and a bastion, enclosed by a thick outer wall that also encompassed a small village made up of stone huts topped with thatched roofs. Today, only the main tower survives intact, along with a 27-meter stretch of the surrounding wall and the base of one hut, providing insight into the site's original layout. The entrance corridor of the tower is notable for its transverse stone slabs forming a roof and includes a niche with an internal staircase on its left side that ascends to the tower’s summit. Although the wooden balcony once crowning the tower no longer exists, the preservation of the tholos roof and some architectural details like the entrance corridor niche make it a genuine testament to Nuragic engineering and culture. Nuraghe Paddàggiu, meaning “haystack” in Sardinian, is closely linked to nearby prehistoric sites such as the Domus de Janas “dell’elefante,” illustrating the dense ancient heritage in this part of Sardinia. It stands less than a kilometer from this famous rock-cut tomb complex. While the site is most easily admired from the roadside given limited parking options, it remains a significant cultural landmark illustrating Sardinia’s prehistoric past. The discovery of numerous ceramic artifacts at Nuraghe Paddàggiu has been fundamental for establishing its age and understanding its function within the Nuragic civilization. This site offers a tangible connection to an ancient era when Sardinia was dotted with these monumental stone edifices, making it an essential destination for those interested in archaeology and the island’s deep historical roots. Though relatively modest in scale compared to some larger nuraghi, Nuraghe Paddàggiu stands out for its well-preserved central tower and the clarity with which it conveys the architectural sophistication of Sardinia’s Bronze Age inhabitants. Its scenic hilltop location further enhances the visitor experience, providing a glimpse into the strategic considerations of the Nuragic people and offering expansive views of the surrounding countryside.
just jump the wall from road and u will be here :)
An amazing feeling to see something so atmospheric. Ancient. It makes you question so much.
You have to park on the side of the road climb over the little bent over fence hike up to the site and Marvel at this wonder over 3000 years old
Fantastic view, amazing food.
You can see this one from the street but unfortunately there are no signs leading to it. One well conservated tower though

Slide 1 of 8
Rugged and secluded cove. From the beach you can’t see any buildings. Feels isolated and remote. A nice change from the busy white sand beaches that require bookings and payments and are so crowded you can barely find a place to sit. This beach might not be as beautiful to some, but the peaceful atmosphere is unbeatable if you want to escape the crowds. Lots of room even in August. Looks like a spot locals go to. Also the cove makes the water very calm, even with windy conditions. The first few metres of water were a bit murky at times, but clearer further from shore. Great spot for snorkelling with kids, lots of fish, starfish, sea urchins and even an octopus. Rocky though so proper water shoes would help. Limited parking but we went two days in a row and didn’t have any issues, and it’s free. A bit of a difficult walk down to the beach, especially under the hot sun with heavy bags and in sandals. But still doable.
Be sure to visit this place. From both sides, if you climb the hill, you have a beautiful view of the historical part of the city of Castelsardo. There is no infrastructure and if the sea is not calm, the water will be muddy. You also need to walk about 10 minutes from the parking lot down, and on the way back you need to climb up small stones. Families with small children will find it difficult and inconvenient. Thanks to the views that open up from the hills on the coast of Castelsardo - I definitely recommend visiting
A very nice bay with a small, mostly rocky beach. There are great views for your photos. For entering the water I recommend using shoes because it is rocky and not very comfortable. You can rent an umbrella and sun-beds ( I don't know the price) but that's it. No other services like the toilet or restaurant are there. There is not much parking space along the entry road. You can go by car only where the asphalt road ends, then you go around 15-20 minutes on walk. Overall, it is a quiet and nice place perfect rather for photos than to enjoy the sea.
Cute little cove. Slightly pebbly but lovely crystal clear water. Calm sea and doesn’t get deep fast. Safe for kids and nice calm atmosphere, not busy and if you’re staying at the resort the beds are free!
Cala Ostina in Sardinia is a coastal gem that rewards those who seek an authentic and tranquil seaside escape. Nestled in nature's embrace, this secluded cove boasts breathtaking beauty that truly shines when experienced in the early morning hours. The calmness of dawn casts a magical aura over the turquoise waters and pristine sands, making it a serene oasis for those who arrive early. To truly savor the unspoiled charm of Cala Ostina, I highly recommend planning your visit during the weekdays rather than weekends. Weekday mornings offer a chance to bask in the peaceful ambiance and relish the untouched splendor without the bustling crowds that often gather on weekends. This strategic choice ensures an intimate and personal connection with the natural wonders of this idyllic spot. As the sun gently rises, casting its golden hues across the landscape, you'll find yourself captivated by the symphony of nature's sounds and the tranquility that envelops you. Whether you're strolling along the shoreline, taking a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters, or simply unwinding with the soothing sound of lapping waves, Cala Ostina offers a rejuvenating retreat that's best enjoyed during the serene moments of early mornings and weekdays.
Since Castelsardo doesn’t have many beaches, we were hoping this one would at least be clean. Unfortunately, even though the road leading there is poorly maintained, the beach itself is even worse — with pieces of glass scattered in the sand, making it dangerous for children to run around. The water is also not very clear or inviting. I wouldn’t recommend this beach.
Nice place clear water and few people , tiring to go down the road but rewarding the tranquility and natural beauty

The small chapel of Purgatory overlooks the narrow street that leads to the Cathedral of Sant'Antonio Abate. Castelsardo is a very beautiful town . It is divided in two, the old town on the top of the hill with the castle, then the modern side of the town on the sea level ... absolutely you must have a walk in the old town, be careful lot of stairs but you are going to enjoy it, in special way the beautiful view of the sea from the top of the castle . In the old town you also will find lot of nice restaurants, bar and shops . Definitely recommended !
If you enjoy swimming in plastic soup, this is it! It's a nice place for sunset walk.., but I won't be swimming there again. Thousands of small and larger pieces of plastic float in the water. I wonder why the authorities haven't cleaned up the beach and the bay.
Nice beach. Fine shingle. Clear waters and not too steep a drop after the shoreline. Shop at the back of the beach had minimal ice creams on sale. Watch out for local kids playing football during the school holidays (June-August).
Beautiful cliff top village
Nice small city beach. Pretty clean, but can be crowded in weekends. Cliffs offer nice opportunity for snorkeling and diving. Parking can be tricky to find free spot.
Quite good for a city beach. Little people, clean, easy access. On the beach bar, shower. You can jump into the water from the rock, kids love it.
Not worth the long arduous drive inland ( do not do this route. Not very pretty) then when you get there it is in my opinion very characterless, scruffy and old fashioned the lower half , so boring we didn't bother with the top half ( maybe we missed out but anyway...) My opinion- go to Saint Teresa gullura. Much much nicer!! Character, pretty, lots of nice cafes, nice vibe.
Cool little village with outdoor concert venues- a real taste of Italian culture is very predominant (try to learn a little Italian before you go )it’s polite and the locals appreciate any attempt; they are all friendly so if you don’t no worries!!

This museum is very very cool. Obviously skip through all the bits on the weirdo bishop who lived there. Just get to the bits on witchcraft and the Spanish Inquisition. Truly terrifying. As if that’s not enough you head downstairs to a display of morbidly fascinating torture devices that were used in by the horrible people in the church to make sure no one was friends with the devil. Fascinating.
It’s ok. Not special, but ok

(Translated by Google) In the low season there were many tourists who visited the historic center, few who visited the "Spalti di Manganella", even fewer who took the pleasant walk on paths that descend from these towards the sea and then go up again arriving at Via Nazionale. It takes a bit of effort but it takes about forty minutes to do it, the images refer to this entire journey. The fortifications were built by the Genoese at the beginning of 1100 AD. and for this reason the original name of the town was Castel Genovese, after being conquered it became Castel Aragonese and in 1448 it assumed its current name.

(Translated by Google) At the time of my visit (mid-June 2023), the area was somewhat neglected, giving the idea of disorder and abandonment. I understand that it is challenging to manage the place, but a little more attention from the municipality wouldn't have gone amiss... instead, in addition to the badly trimmed grass, and the very battered wooden structures that represent historical pieces accompanying the bastion, we found little to be happy with. A beautiful spot from which to enjoy the sunset, but not much more, given that the same sunset can be admired further up inside the village which looks much better. It remains a good place to take a few steps away from the crowds of people (in fact it remains little frequented), thinking about what these views of the castle heard and saw in the past, when they were beaten by prominent, well-known and powerful figures in history of Sardinia..

Beautiful view! 😍
Small town and suitable for stopping for a few hours.
Simple lighthouse, could be beautiful in the right lighting On the beach, so good for a small walk altough the beach is very polluted with plastic. Shame that the locals don't clean their own beaches
Nice view from the port

(Translated by Google) The Frigiano Tower, dating back to the second half of the 16th century, was built by the Aragonese to protect the port of Castel Aragonese. Two soldiers were stationed inside the tower, ready to alert the nearby castle in case of emergency. Today, the dark basalt tower, 7 meters in diameter and 13 meters high, stands in the middle of the Castelsardo port and can be admired thanks to a restoration that took place last century.
