Fairytale villa built in 12th century much used by filmmakers including James Bond and Star Wars.

We’ve photographed several pre-wedding shoots at Villa del Balbianello, and every single time it feels like a dream. The views over Lake Como are breathtaking, and the villa itself is pure magic. In spring, the wisteria blooms beautifully across the villa, creating an even more enchanting atmosphere. Every corner is photogenic, from the iconic terrace overlooking the lake to the lush gardens. It’s truly one of the most incredible locations in Italy for a photoshoot.
A beautiful estate with a fascinating walk to and from the site. Definitely touristy but absolutely worth the visit. Be aware: Google’s “mostly flat” description is misleading—you’ll need to tackle some uphill sections, so bring good shoes.
Very beautiful and pristine villa. Everything is very manicured and clean. It is about a 2km walk from the Leno ferry terminal. Definitely some gradients so wear comfortable shoes. This villa is home to famous scenes in Star Wars and also James Bond Casino Royale.
Such an incredible place to visit if you are going to Lago di Como, I would suggest buying the tickets in advance so you can skip the wait, bring comfortable shoes, I wouldn’t recommend heels or anything like that if you do want to enjoy the most hidden places here. Very clean, it takes about 2-3 hours so see and enjoy most of the villa! Is a must!
One word – magnificent. I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid waiting. We arrived at 10 a.m. and waited about 20 minutes in line. The villa opens at 10:00 a.m. They allow only a limited number of visitors inside, which is great because it’s not overcrowded. The ticket costs €14.
Beautiful Villa... Looked stunning in Casino Royale! In person so much more!!! Tour is a must do to understand the last owner.. ended up buying the book about him. A must visit if in the area.
To reach it, you have to walk about 750-800 meters after parking your car, but believe me, it's worth it 👍I think if you came to visit Lake Como, you should definitely see this place, the entrance fee is 13€ per person, very well preserved, Italian architectural features and the magnificent Como atmosphere, wonderful 👍
Famous from Hollywood-movies this gorgeous villa and surrounding gardens are a must visit when visiting Lake Como. We took the guides tour inside the Villa which was very fascinating. It was very hot and crowded in gardens however, so would recommend to visit off-season and make sure to buy your tickets in advance.

Took the train to Varenna, then the boat and got off at Lenno. From Lenno we hiked to the villa following the lake shore (approx 4 km) This is a great hike, easy to make and not exhaustive. The only caveat is that there is a section of the hike that follows the road. Visited on Monday. Started with the gardens as there was a storm cloud on the lake and wanted to cover the gardens and move inside if the rain moved onto the place. The gardens are extensive and beautiful. The rhododendrons were in peak bloom (mid May). The Villa itself is also impressive, well curated and maintained. Overall a great small museum as a time capsule ot a different era. The cafeteria has gelato, panini and excellent beer. What else do you need beyond that. We entered the museum at 3:00 pm and left just after 6:pm. The combined ticket for the gardens and the villa is €15/p. Good value.
Nice museum with several exhibits. Also has gorgeous views of lake como. There is also a restaurant to grab some lunch. It was not crowded when we visited also there was no line to buy tickets. Worthwhile visiting the villa.
An absolute architectural, botanical and historical marvel of the last 500 years. The grounds of the villa are absolutely gorgeous - fountains sculptures, and perfectly manicured floral heaven. The garden is truly remarkable with how much variety of plants there are and also the way it's been maintained. For the building itself, nothing short of extraordinary - the design and architecture is impressive. There is so much history and craftsmanship behind this place.
Inside and out Villa Carlotta was a joy to visit. We loved the art work inside the villa. Be sure o look up as many of the rooms are adorned with frescos and or reliefs. The grounds are a botanical wonder with species brought in from around the world.
Must see! Great place to visit, beatiful inside, many sculpture, paintings few rooms with furniture with very great conditions. Amaizing garden around, it takes 2-3 hours to visit and see all villa and garden. Beautyful view from balcony for Como lake.
Beautiful villa with stunning lake views and lush gardens. The inside has some impressive art and sculptures, but the real highlight is walking through the gardens, peaceful and scenic, a perfect spot to slow down and take in the beauty of Lake Como.
Lovely visit especially enjoyed the extensive gardens, agricultural history and interactive commentary in our language about basement life at the Villa. Reasonable €15 entrance (€13 for over 65s) Luggage lockers were helpful. Bistro service for 2 hot drinks was slow on the day(20/8/25) as they seemed short-staffed.
I have no words. Grand, classy, green. Bamboo plants, very tropical. The great beauty of a sea of over 150 species of plants. All this is combined with the view of Lake Como, which is open from almost every point of Villa Carlotta. Very good restaurant.

Very good service. Had a totally enjoyable ride with a good guide. The guide was very young but surprisingly knowledgeable. The weather was a bit cold but nice.
Super efficient and friendly service. I recommend reaching out to them on WhatsApp. On-time pick up and departure. We really enjoyed riding in the gorgeous wooden vintage speed boat. Reasonably priced compared to others we got quotes from.
Our family of 5 (kids ages 20, 18 & 16) spent the day with Mattia on the water in his lovely boat! He was flexible with what we wanted to do/see and also showed us many places on Lake Como that inspired us to book another trip to Lake Como! He is knowledgeable, easy to work with, has a beautiful boat and knows the history of every single place on Lake Como!! There aren’t enough words to describe how much fun we had AND we will be booking with him when we come back to Lake Como!
This was our second trip with Lake Como Water Taxi and our second great experience. The boats are beautiful and perfectly maintained. Our driver, Jacopo was engaging, entertaining, and knowledgeable about the history of all Of the places he showed us. He was open to any requests for pictures along the way and made a great suggestion for a fun stop during our time with him. If I have the good fortune to return to Lake Como, I will not hesitate to book a trip with Lake Como Water Taxis.
We had the most wonderful experience with Lake Como Water Taxi. I surprised my mother with a 2 hour boat ride around Lake Como for her 70th birthday and she had the time of her life. From the beginning, messaging and booking with Mattia was super easy. He was so friendly and helpful. Our driver on the day, Miguel, was wonderful. He picked us up at Varenna, brought us around the lake, stopping at all the noteworthy spots and explained the history and popularity behind them, while sipping on some lovely Prosecco 🍾. He dropped us off at the end of the trip in Bellagio as requested. Overall such a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate in booking with these guys again.
Marco was fantastic. He knowledge of Lake Como and the villas was fantastic. We asked him to take us to a lunch place that was not for tourists and the place he chose was beyond belief. This is a great company with great customer service
What a wonderful experience! Igor went above and beyond for us. He is patient, reliable and the most fun you’ll have on a boat in Lake Como! Better than First Class.
We had a wonderful afternoon with our guide Marco. We booked five hours. We couldn’t believe how quickly the time went! It was everything we were hoping for plus more!

This kiosk is directly opposite the ferry stop and not inside the Villa Carlotta. If you're thinking of a ferry ride or a visit to the Villa then it's highly recommended to take a kiosk lunch box. We had a cheese and ham toastie (one is enough for two people) and a summer spritz. The lady at the kiosk was very friendly and helpful.
Very nice 'food truck' type of lunch option, reasonably priced and the best service received in Italy with a smile and kindness. You have nice benches across the street to enjoy your snacks with a nice view.
The nicest lady! LOVELY FOOD
Very friendly owner and the food was great. We ordered a panini and hotdog, the owner suggested a drink as there was a special with the hotdog. Food was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. The takeaway lunch pack looked like a great option and would be perfect for a picnic or boat excursion. The prices were very reasonable.
Delicious and refreshing summer spritzes and a very cool barista!
My teenage children both ate cheese/ham panini from this stall on 18 and 19 July 2022. Both ended up with severe food poisoning, most likely from the ham. Such a shame as the food selection and smoothies were lovely. I suspect the ham was not handled correctly (no gloves used), no visible hygiene measures (hand washing), and the ham not stored in the fridge. I’m hoping the owner will check this review and correct their practice.
We only got their cocktails, but delicious, delicious, delicious.
The freshest, tastiest food I had by far during my stay in Italy.

As a wedding photographer you can’t wish something more from a church. Big, nice light, enough space for take what photos do you want. The stairs ... absolutely fantastic !!!
Nice church with a more modern interior. Stop by and visit it is worth your time.
Worst the visit (5min) as it next right next to the park « Parco Civico Teresio Olivelli »
I did not visit, but the view from the lake is so beaitiful!

The construction resumed almost a hundred years later and ended in 1894. The wall structures are made with rough-hewn blocks of a limestone typical of the Lake Como area called Moltrasio stone. It's located not far from Villa Carlotta. 📖 The Church of San Lorenzo in Tremezzo was built from 1775-1776. Construction wasn't completed until 1894, which explains the rather eclectic architectural style, somewhere between neo-Roman and neo-Gothic. (Translated by Google) The small church which stands next to the Villa Carlotta complex and of which it was once part, was built by the Marquises Clerici and dedicated to St. Francis Xavier. Maps and historical documents report its characteristics and list the assets it contains. In the early 1600s it was embellished with some canvases painted by some of the most renowned Lombard artists of the period and depicting various moments in the life of the Saint. The altarpiece was created by Legnanino, the side paintings by F. Abbiati and P. Cazzaniga respectively. They are currently on display, after restoration, at the Villa Carlotta museum which is dedicating an ad hoc exhibition to the Marquises Clerici. The ownership of the small church (oratory) subsequently passed to the Sommariva family and the last heir completely transformed it according to neoclassical taste around the middle of the 19th century, making it the burial place of her loved ones. The oratory is thus decorated with a beautiful ceiling, statues in Carrara marble are placed, as well as memorial plaques and funerary monuments dedicated to Sommariva father and son, a "Pietà" in marble by Cacciatori replaces the altarpiece by Legnanino, the The altar contains a beautiful bas-relief of the "Nativity". Over time the property still changes hands and is currently owned by the Diocese of Como which carried out the restoration a few years ago. Contact Villa Carlotta for information on openings and times.. The place is a really gem for photos. Especially if you would like to click candids or do professional wedding photography. It’s beside a beautiful row of huge trees and the atmosphere was just the kind for a book reading.
Such a beautiful place to spend a whole day/night ! Lake, facilities, shower, amazing view of the lake and the villas. I felt in love with this garden/parco
Nice park where people take their time to relax in the trees’ shadow, while the newlyweds have their photoshoots with the Como lake views ;) there’s also a fountain and a coffee shop, so you can simply spend some time watching the boats sailing.
Beautiful park and lake view. In the summer they also host music festival concerts. Day time is a bit overcrowded with teenagers sun bathing and swimming in the lake.
Free parking, perfect for enjoying the lake view! There’s a bar, restrooms available, and a staircase area that’s perfect for taking amazing photos! This Park was featured in my Budget-Friendly Guide to Lake Como! 🗺️Check my profile for more!
Lovely Lakeside grassy morning suntrap area, 100m or so from Tremezzo ferry stop. There is access from the park via steps to get in lake for a dip if you are into that. Lovely to watch across the lake and to see couples having their wedding photos taken
Beautiful park with centuries-old trees. In summer it transforms into a beach, and there’s a corner bar serving food and drinks.
Great little lakeside park with plenty of room, views and a snack bar! We spent a peaceful hour under the shade of trees with some gelato!!

One of the most breathtaking villas on Lake Como, it’s always a great pleasure to work there 📸
Villa Sola Cabiati is the embodiment of Italianità—a place where heritage, artistry, and romance are seamlessly woven into its magnificent walls. While the villa itself is a masterpiece of elegance, what truly sets it apart is its impeccable staff. Their dedication to preserving and sharing the villa’s legacy is remarkable; they operate at the highest levels of luxury hospitality, yet with a warmth and passion that make every guest feel truly welcome. The Stucco Room is among the most breathtaking spaces I have ever stepped into—an exquisite showcase of intricate craftsmanship and timeless beauty. Having visited many Italian villas, I can confidently say that Villa Sola Cabiati is one of my absolute favorites. It is grand yet intimate, majestic yet deeply inviting. From the very moment you step onto the grounds, you are transported into another world—a world of refined beauty, history, and la dolce vita. Every corner of this storied villa is a tribute to artistry, heritage, luxury, and the effortless charm of Italy. Here I photographed S&D’s wedding, which was an unforgettable experience. To this day, their gallery remains one of my all-time favorites—a testament to the magic that unfolds within these walls.
I have just photographed a beautiful 3-day spring wedding here, the location is the epitome of luxury with the most incredible views of Lake Como. The venue interiors are as dreamy and as magnificent as their surroundings. This venue is a photographers delight to work in. The property has its own dock which made it easy for the bride and groom to rent a boat to go for some fun and stunning photos on the lake, which is a must when in Lake Como!
Two words to describe this villa: the villa is gorgeous and breathtaking 😍 once you are in the villa, you feel the atmosphere of the ancient aristocracy enveloping you, transporting you to a bygone era of opulence and grandeur.
Amazing historical vibes!
Imposing villa on the Lake Como.

(Translated by Google) Near the church of San Vincenzo is the entrance to Villa Silvestri, an interesting rationalist building from 1932 designed by the Tremezzo architect Pietro Lingeri (1894-1968). The residential body is composed of a square block and a rectangular addition that overlooks the lake and rests on the pre-existing stone structures of a former shipyard. The new building, structured on three levels, takes up the vertical development of the ancient coastal houses in a modern sense. On the facade, above the dock, there is a largely glazed living room, dominated by a loggia and by a terrace partially occupied at the back by a service volume, which is also terraced. There are numerous elements (parapets, ladders, portholes) that refer to naval construction. Extract from the Guide «Discovering Tremezzina» (Francesco Soletti, Edizioni New Press 2017).

(Translated by Google) Immediately afterwards, upstream from the state road, Villa Meier is the central building of the vast property established starting in 1918 by Roberto Meier, a Swiss entrepreneur who became rich from the cotton trade at the time of the First World War. The task of renovating the nineteenth-century Villa Ortensia and constructing a series of accessory buildings was entrusted to Pietro Lingeri, a twenty-year-old architect from Tremezzo, destined to become one of the masters of Rationalism. The property is now largely public and used as a municipal park. The manor house has essentially maintained its original appearance, except for the addition of two volumes facing upstream and towards the parish house. Not far away, in a private area, there are some buildings - the villa, the greenhouse and the garage. – expanded by Lingeri. At the upper border of the property, a spectacular architectural backdrop acts as a backdrop to the tennis court and allows you to mask the difference in height that marks the edge of the land. Among the smaller buildings, the circular pavilion used as a kennel is notable. The lakeside portion of the property is occupied by the park dedicated to the memory of Teresio Olivelli, gold medal for military valour, although the traditional name of Meier Park is still in current use. Extract from the Guide «Discovering Tremezzina» (Francesco Soletti, Edizioni New Press 2017). (Translated by Google) The Tower of Ossuccio known as the Barbarossa Tower is a monument of medieval origin in Moltrasio stone hidden among the vegetation 400 meters above the lake. It dates back to the Lario Lario fortified system and would have acquired further importance in the municipal period, when the structure overlooking the Zoca de l'Oli had assumed interest as a lookout point, as well as a defense point. Now owned by the FAI, it can be visited on dedicated days or by reservation. (Translated by Google) The Spurano Tower is a medieval construction erected on probable Roman foundations, dating back to the time when the underlying Comacina island was a military stronghold and its gulf a natural port for the fleet that guarded this stretch of lake. The Tower has been the property of the FAI (Italian Environment Fund) since 2011 and has a probable future as a visitor center for this natural wonder: centuries-old plants, hundreds of which dot meadows with varied blooms; ancient stone cottages and small farms; oak woods and patches of rocky vegetation; birds of prey such as the black kite and colorful migrants such as the hoopoe. The view from the upper terrace is unforgettable, extending to all the beauties that have made Tremezzina famous, with an unparalleled view of the most singular, the Comacina Island. To reach the Tower you go up from Ossuccio (via Torre) or from the ancient Via Regina which runs at the foot of the olive groves. Extract from the Guide «Discovering Tremezzina» (Francesco Soletti, Edizioni New Press 2017).
