We loved it here. The life guards were really nice, and there was quite a lot to see even within the restricted areas. We still took a guided tour to the unhabited island and it was also nice, though with restricted area so big you might be happy with just that. Nice amount of restaurants available, though beach toilets little far and only few.
The most beautiful beach I've ever seen. You can rent some snorkeling gear and go out and snorkeling. I saw lots of fish around the corral reefs. Beautiful white sand. A must see when visiting okinawa. Highly recommend.
A very beautiful beach for all tourist. You can join their snorkeling trip or diving trip( prebooking to made before going). You can rent umbrellas and sun loungers. There are some cool shop for drinks and foods. Also some swim clothes or slippers.
A really cute little cove. The diving on day one was good, not much impressive sea life and a lot of destroyed bleached coral reef but zero visibility the next day. A little over run with Chinese tourists waving their umbrellas, drenched in factor 50 & unnecessarily bellowing at the top of their lungs. But other than this… there’s beauty and silence underneath the waves
One of the best beaches in the world. A perfect balance between snorkeling and chilling. If you come here, please use coral safe sunblock. Don't leave your trash anywhere. Always be respectful of others and of nature as well.
This Beautiful beach is a hidden gem that is located on Tokashiki island in Okinawa. You have to take a 45 minute ferry ride to the island than a 15 minute bus ride the beach. The Ferry and bus are schedules are coordinated with each other. So there's always a bus. You can rent chairs, umbrella for cheap. There's showers, restrooms near by. It does it busy. There are small restaurants in the area, bring your snacks if you like.
One of the best beaches we’ve ever visited! 🏖️ The water is crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling. We recommend renting an umbrella and beach chairs (about 3,000 yen) for a comfortable day. If you’re visiting on a day trip, take the early and late speedy marine liner to make the most of your time at the beach. Highly recommended!
One of the best places in Okinawa. In October was so warm water and we swam a lot. Saw many pretty fish. I like this place

One of the kerama islands that can easily reached by ferry from Naha. This island has beautiful beaches like aharen and tokashiku. Came here on a day trip with a tour operator from Naha. Really enjoy the aharen beach and the whole experience. Okinawa has many beautiful places to explore
A peaceful island that is more nature than developed making it ideal for a true getaway. There are residents that live on the island, but not that many. There are a lot of beautiful scenic spots to check out and warm, soft sand beaches to enjoy.
I had a fantastic time at this island, as we were able to take a bus quickly to one of the most popular beaches, and everything was so well organized. Once we got to the beach itself, they were lockers, toilets, showers that you could pay to use, and so many people selling different things. You could rent a banana boat, go diving, going to snorkeling tour, or just rent a parasol umbrella for the beach and chairs. We decided to do a Snorkeling tour for ¥5400 per person, and it turned out to be absolutely amazing, as it was private. Apparently, the day before they had 20 people on the same tour, but for some reason, there was only two of us for our timeslot. We were able to snorkel in three different areas. If you snorkel on the beach, you were limited to a very small area. But if you get a tour, you can explore more areas.
Best time on this island with the most stunning beaches! Such a great experience!
The island is just a little paradise The nature and scenary is amazing and beyond words. The travel from Naha to the ispand was very nice and Wonderful. It is just like a dream and will go again and again I am sure will never stop thinking of there and going back there
We took the ferry from Naha Terminal to Tokashiki Island and then a bus to Aharen Beach — and it was absolutely stunning. Just before you arrive, there’s a convenience store where you can grab food and drinks. At the beach, there are basic facilities like showers and toilets. A tip: get off the ferry on the left side so you’re first to the bus and the beach. That way you can rent a parasol and chairs early. The water is gorgeous. The downside is that the ferry leaves at 10 PM and you have to return by 4 PM, giving you only about three hours there. I’d definitely recommend staying at least one night to make the most of it. Tokashiki Island is the largest of the Kerama Islands, which are about 30 kilometres west of Okinawa's main island. There are plenty of idyllic spots for snorkeling, diving, and sunbathing in the summer. Soak up the sun, take a dip in the sea, and watch the beautiful sunset at this pristine beach.
I loved this island. It was not too big and not small. Great snorkeling, good hiking. Pretty good night life as well. I could of spent a few months. It reminded me a lot of the Carribean. Note to travelers thou only some debit cards work on the islands only debit machine.

Absolutely AMAZING SNORKELING! The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is top tier. You can snorkel with your own gear in a roped off area close to the beach (which there isn't much to see). I highly recommend booking a tour that will take you out further so that you can explore the gorgeous fan coral and possibly spot sea turtles. The snorkeling tour we booked took us out on a banana boat by jet ski. It was a BLAST! Highly recommend. You can rent gear or bring your own like we did. They do require a life vest when snorkeling on tours.
Tricky.. We stayd at the hotel and thought we would swim here a lot. However the life guards are really strict and there is not much life to see within the restricted area (and I mean already the extended area where you are only allowed with lifevest on, not just the smaller swim area). Truly, almost only broken coral aside some patches with fishes. They are probably trying to make people buy the guided packages which allow you to see the better parts but you could just go to Aharen then and enjoy that free. Only if the tortoises are the main thing for you, Tokashiku is better. Though we saw one on Aharen too, but multiple on Tokashiku. I still would recommend staying at the hotel because they have amazing shuttle bus service to Aharen and nice other services as well! Sunset is really beautiful here.
Beautiful beach. Perfect place to spend a beach day with various activities around. Lots of snorkelling spots, clear water and fishes all around. You can buy seats with umbrella upon entering, which I would recommend as it gets very hot and sunny but remember to bring cash.
Took about an hour boat ride to the island and then another 10 shuttle ride to the beach. The beach has different activities avaliable for the hole family and is also shared by hotel guests but the beach is not crowded at all. 10/10
The place where you can see many sea turtles. Please snorkel on the right side of the beach (near rocky shore) outside the roped area as many fishs can be seen there. Unfortunately the water wasn't very clear on the day I visited. Not many colourful corals though. Simply beautiful ❤️
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in my life. And I’ve been to the Maldives, Philippines, Caribbean etc etc. It’s like swimming in spring water
the most beautiful island in japan Is nearly okinawa by boat 1 hours small island here people are so kind i love here water is so clean.
(October 2025) The beach itself is amazing. Not too crowded, stunning blue water, white sand. One of the best beaches I have ever been. However, due to many restrictions snorkeling is not as fun as it could be. The reefs in the allowed snorkeling areas are mostly destroyed. Not much wildlife anymore. No wonder if you see how people nowadays behave around reefs. The lively reafs are further out in "protected/restricted" areas and lifeguards monitor it. If it would be for nature protection reason, I would understand and even support it but as they still provide snorkeling trips in these areas, it's obviously all about money. For snorkeling experience I prefer Aharen beach. This beach must have been a dream several years back. So sad.

It is certainly located in a place where you can clearly see the main island on a clear day. Until I get there, I'm afraid of getting stuck in FF 2WD unless I get out of the car halfway. However, if you choose to walk, the undergrowth is neatly trimmed, so you can walk without worrying about habu. You can also see a concrete land embankment that prevents Habu from entering the area, approaching very close. Mountain Hill Coffee…. Great coffee and delicious scones. Opens inside Tokashiki Ferry Terminal an hour before ferry departures.
Tokashiki port is the gateway for our trip to the beautiful aharen beach. We boarded the ferry from tonami port in Okinawa main island
Fast, clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The bathrooms are new and overall this is a nicer port than the one in Naha! Please take my advice, take motion sickness medicine BEFORE you get on any of the ferries. The waves were bad today and nearly every person threw up today.
Very high on cleanliness. Not crowded. Large waiting hall. And as always, all ferries are dot on time.
There are some shops in this terminal and you can buy souvenirs and local products such as tuna jerky, miso made with locally grown black rice, preserves, fruit jello, sun dried fishes etc. I saw a sign of cafe but I didnt have time to check.
Amazing ferry ride.
