Great venue for skiing with kids! The runs are great for intermediate skiers / boarders. We've been here three times in February and every time the snow has been amazing: abundant, soft and powdery. There are only a few runs, but on the plus side there's a very relaxed attitude to off-piste (and in fact, a relaxed attitude in general, which makes it a great place to unwind). Apres ski you get a dinner buffet, two hot spring baths, game rooms, bowling, etc. Everything is in the building without having to walk or drive. Japanese-style rooms comfortably fit two adults and two kids on a budget. The WiFi is reliable and fast. There's even an EV charging station. The facilities aren't the newest, but the value for money is great.
Very good price value. Room was smaller, but clean. Dinner as a buffet was delicious with available King crab claws! Children will appreciate an ice cream or chocolate fountain, too. Very cool is indoor and outdoor swimming pool, inside one is heated with two depths for even smaller kids from 2 years.. Lot’s of fun. The Onsen bath was as standard fine.
Beutiful spot. The nature aspect of this trip is what to retain. However, the hotel and amenities show their age (~1985) as if it had not been maintained well and need reno. The onsen is very small and clean. The attraction, especially the luge are great. The swimming pool is ok, cleanliness 3 out of 5, and overpriced.
I don't like the room I stayed in. It's a Japanese style room: no bath in the room you have to use the public bath which only opens in the night until midnight. Most facilities close too early. You basically can't do anything in the hotel as soon as the night closes in; just sleep. The scenery of the hotel environment is nice though.
we stayed here for one night. our room is japanese style with toilet and bath. it is gkood for 4-5 pax. the hotel is kinda old but it is nice and cozy. it has convenience and omiyage store, karaoke room, arcade. two onsen and sauna place. lobby is big and has a resting place. restaurant is big and the food is just okay (dinner and breakfast buffet) staffs are really friendly and can speak in english. there is a lantern festival when we visited here and it was awesome! if you are coming via train, make sure to reserve their free shuttle service. i do not have much photo here coz i really enjoyed my time with great friends. i hope i can visit during a non-winter season to explore the area.
It's a very big and nice place fir families wants to experience hotspring and skiing ⛷ so awesome specially their make a wish lantern events.
wonderful place, there many activities to do like onsen, ski, bolling, etc. The dinner is yummy buffet but lunch in ski area is not much and expense.
Hotel at ski slope. Lantern festival was fun. Rooms were fine. Buffet dinner and breakfast were pretty good.

(Translated by Google) 2023.11 certain day The bridge that stands out among the autumn leaves is a tourist attraction 🍁🍂 If you want to stop, you can park several cars along the large curve 😉 Many tourists walk up to the bridge from there, but be careful of the cars coming down. It is a particularly popular place during the fall foliage season, and the roads can get clogged with cars waiting to park. The bridge, which stands out in red, has an impact in all seasons! ︎You can enjoy it at any time☺️ A place where you can enjoy the nature of Akiyamago to the fullest✨ (Original) 2023.11某日 紅葉の中に映える橋は観光名所🍁🍂 停車するのなら、大きく曲がったカーブ沿いに数台停められますね😉 そこから橋まで散策していく観光客も多いのですが、下ってくる車にはご注意を〜〜 紅葉シーズンは特に人気な場所であり、停車待機の車もいて道路が詰まり気味なことも💦 赤色際立つ橋は四季折々の中でもインパクトあり‼︎いつの時期でも楽しめます☺️ 秋山郷の自然を大いに満喫できる場所✨

(Translated by Google) This is a bridge you must cross when heading south on National Route 405. Immediately after crossing, there is a hairpin curve to the left, but there is a large vacant lot on the outside of the curve. They are separated by "single pipes" rather than guardrails. I was curious, so I checked on Google Maps, and there was definitely a building there before, but I don't know what it was. On the opposite bank, you can see the spectacular columnar joint cliffs and the red arch of Maekura Bridge. It must be beautiful during the autumn leaves season.

It is also a symbolic landscape of Akiyama-go. It blends into the surrounding landscape. Across this bridge, National Route 405 continues as a narrow, winding road with a steep slope. There is a tea shop right next to the bridge, perfect for a short break. There is also a parking lot for the tea shop, so you can take your time and take photos. The view is especially beautiful during the autumn leaves. The scenery covered with snow in winter is also fantastic. There is a forest road to the east of Route 405, which is easier to drive by, but if you go that way you will not pass Maekura Bridge. This is one of the places you should definitely visit when you come to Akiyamago. (Translated by Google) Akiyamago is really wonderful. The fresh green leaves are nice, but the autumn leaves create an even better scenery☺️Especially, here at Maekura Bridge, the autumn leaves shining on the cliffs, the contrast with the white of the rocks and the vermilion of the Maekura Bridge is an outstanding beauty. Yes, it is 😃 It's truly amazing. The view of the valley and river flow from the bridge also makes the autumn leaves stand out even more. Perhaps I was attracted by such beauty, but there was a hornet's nest clinging to the edge of the cliff😅 I was impressed that they often built it in such a place. There, you don't have to worry about being exterminated by humans. It has a simple structure with one indoor bath and a sauna, and the hot water is around 42℃. If you have time, you can see the Iiyama Line from the indoor bath. The sauna starts heating up at 2:00 p.m., so it doesn't reach high temperatures until after 2:30 p.m. There is also a rest area. I use it about 4 to 6 times every year, and there is no other campground that I can enjoy without getting bored. The high-standard campsite seems to be as popular as ever, but once you come here, you'll get used to it. It will be enough as it is from now on. A little off the beaten path but a nice location. Service is great. Lots of sites to choose from. The facilities are showing their age though - you can smell the bathrooms from a long ways away. Also more expensive than your average campground.
Went there on a weekday and had a very pleasant stay :) nice and clean campsite, from small to family size sites. 100% sure that I will go again next year (maybe more than once). Also, you can eat good soba noodles at the Tsunan village nearby.

Even Headquarters, which has expanded its premises, is 150,000 tsubo, so it is probably the best in the prefecture. I get the impression that about half of the sites are empty even during the high season (Bon Festival). Because of the high altitude, the temperature can drop slightly even in midsummer. Although it is a plateau, there are many trees, so I get the impression that there are many insects. The store had a wide selection of products, including MUJI products. (Translated by Google) This is a campsite managed by Muji. There is also a fishing pond right next to the reception center house. The campground is located halfway up a small mountain, relatively close to the countryside, so the access road up to the middle of the campground is in relatively good condition. However, the road just before it deviates from the national highway is a so-called farm road standard, so you need to be careful when driving there, but it is paved. The tent sites are laid out like a maze, so first-time users are required to get a map from the center house. (You can get a map at the reception, but it can be difficult to get lost especially if there are people joining you later.) I think it's easy to use because the distance between the sites is moderate and it's hard to see what's going on next door because of the wild flowers. I used it in early October, and it was beautiful with the sunrise at dawn and what looked like a sea of clouds hanging over the village at the foot of the mountain. The other zones are about 8 minutes into bloom and are currently creating a maze. There is a shooting point. It had rained the day before, so there were puddles of water inside the maze. It is recommended that you wear shoes. I was so impressed to see so many big sunflowers🌻💓 Parking fee passenger car ¥300 (Original)

Best time for fall colors is October and the first week of November
(Translated by Google) There is not much information about the parking lot, but when I went there, there were several cars lined up on the side near the entrance, and beyond this was Sarutobi Bridge. If you cross there and turn right, there is a P mark and you can fit 2-3 cars. The bridge is narrow but possible for one car. It's easy to walk down the riverbank or view it from the bridge. If you park at the top, it will be difficult just to go back and forth.

(Translated by Google) A truly clear stream. It's so beautiful! As well as the bridge, the transparency of the river is amazing. The parking lot is small, and I wonder if it will be possible to park 4 cars in a tight space. I don't think I can swim. It's deep right away and there's no one around. The current in the rocky area is fast, so it's fine if you just sit down and put your feet on the water, but be sure to keep an eye on your children. It's a great place if you're careful.

Since it says ``Sarutobi Bridge,'' I imagined a beautiful bridge over a gorge like ``Otsuki Saru Bridge'' or ``Nikko Shin Bridge,'' but it turned out to be a sturdy concrete bridge. It is said that in the Edo period people crossed by crawling, so the safety standards are different from modern times. ``White Dragon God'' was enshrined at the foot of the bridge. They must have prayed to be able to cross the bridge safely. The image of praying for safety in the cup offered is remembered. Columnar joints can be seen in the reverse winding riverbed. This columnar joint is a basalt rock bed. What was buried underground was washed away by the river and exposed. Makiyuki Suzuki also visited and wrote the following in his ``Akiyama Kiko.'' ``When you look up, the rock towers, and when you look down, the deep water is a stagnant blue. Two long trees are crossed in a narrow place on both banks, and a bush is placed on the side. It was a shame. I crawled on my stomach halfway, and finally made it to the other side in a cold sweat. The sights on both banks are indescribable. Wonderful tree shapes and mysterious rock formations. It captivates your eyes from upstream to downstream, and you'll never get tired of looking at it.

I went to explore the traditional huts and sunflower fields! Casual setting and a lot of fun. I would love to come back for a workshop.
Najomon is a great little facility in Tsunan that tells you all about the history of the area going back to prehistoric times. There is masses of information about geology, archaeology, and the lives of people here throughout the ages. Several styles of Jomon period shelters have been built close-by.
(Translated by Google) There are many people who write incorrect information. There are no national treasures here! The National Treasure is located at the Tokamachi City Museum. It's really nice to actually touch something that has been broken. It lets you touch the real thing. It also has a Jomon-style stage, which I think would be great for a variety of events. The exhibition is only on the first floor, and if you don't take a closer look, it will end quickly. I think it's great that you can experience a lot of things if you go when you can. It was nice to see so many sunflowers blooming. There is plenty of free parking available in front of the building.
