I met Sam long ago on facebook around 2014 and discussed my upcoming 2015 trip to Tanintharyi region of Myanmar by chatting with him every now and then. Impatiently waiting to depart to Myanmar in October 2015, I finally met him at Dawei airport after I called him to tell him my arrival time. He brought me to my hotel and we discussed a little about the following days when he was my guide. I gave him the freedom to chose himself what to show me and I did not regret any minute we were together in and around Dawei. Sam is very knowledgable about Dawei region, about the people there, their thinking, minds and souls and history. Each day, we spent together was unique. We experienced landscapes, culture, handicrafts, markets, spoke to people in villages, watched them producing goods such as cigars, cashew nuts, baskets etc. etc. Best of course are always the accidental encounters with local people and we had a lot of them. Sam is vey much able to accomodate to the clients needs, he is thoughtful, friendly, always also curious to learn about what you think and your culture. He also is very much aware of environmental issues and supports ecotourism and also tries to educate his people to act environmental friendly. If you want to be guided by a person with a big heart and soul and tons of knowledge about the Dawei region, Sam is your choice! I think, we became real friends during our time together in Dawei and I so hope to come back to Dawei soon. All the best to you and your family, Sam.
Sam took 3 friends & I on a cultural tour for a day in the town of Dawei to have a closer look (& learn) about everyday life, conditions and processes of all the things you see & buy on the street. We were lucky to have such an educated guide for this to explain to us about the architecture, ways of life and direction of future progress all while mingling with the locals and learning about their trade. We saw the cashew nuts process (& ate some), wood art, how cheroots are made, learned about the history of the town, ate many fruits I have never tried before (all delicious), saw traditional style weaving, pottery, a flower farm and where the rattan brooms come from. Every time we saw something that interested us Sam would pull over, get out and explain for us – nothing was a problem! Of course he won our hearts from the moment he arrived with plates of local fruit and drinks in a cooler that kept us nibbling all day long. We finished the day visiting traditional Daweiian snack stands on the side of the road while laughing a lot. Fully recommend this experience and this great guide!
I first met Sam in 2016 when I booked him for a day tour on Motorbikes. This time in Feb 2020 I was travelling with my partner and 81yr old mother. We booked Sam for 3 full days transferring from Myiek to Dawei, a full day around Dawei and beaches and then for Dawei to Kanchanaburi. What a terrific adventure we all had! Sam's car is spacious and comfortable with water and fruit provided. Plenty of stops for tea, food and pictures whenever we wished. Sam is a great guy, polite, friendly and considerate always. It seems that virtually everyone in Dawei knows Sam :) On our final day Sam arranged a 4x4 vehicle for the trip through the jungle to the Thai border. This was 150kms of which 100kms was dirt road. Amazing to get into such beautiful country with rivers and mountains. We were sad to bid farewell to Sam once at the Thai border. Without a doubt if you want to relax and enjoy a visit to Dawei then you must book with Sam.
Hands down one of the best Tour guides in all of Myanmar, if you are looking for an exciting, educational and socially aware and environmentally responsible experience this is it, hands down. Sam takes you on an intimate tour of locally villages, hidden paradises, and an insider view of the local customs of the Dawei, and surrounding areas. I always reccomend everyone I know to Myanmar to take time and see Dawei with Sam. Great job Sam, I cannot wait to come back and visit as soon as I can!!
Drunk on happiness ==+== There are many famous historic pagodas and beaches in Dawei. We have been travelling with Easy Travel Dawei(Sam the Man Travels & Tours) in Dawei. We were taken to the pagodas, beaches, local villages and to the mountains. It was a nice trip with Sam.
Very good customer relationships and the best service that I have experienced. This guide knows very well about Tanintharyi Region especially Dawei (history, architecture, nature of the local people). Fully recommended!!!
ထားဝယ္ အေၾကာင္းအကုန္သိဖို႔ Easy Travel Dawei ႏွင့္ခရီးသြားစို႔ It is awesome. Welcome, Sam.

I rented motorbikes at this place, everything was fine! The friendly staff gave me a lot of tips where to go around the Dawei peninsula. They also helped me to book a bungalow at the paradise beach. I can definitely recommend this place!
Hello Dawei Travel & Tours and Old House Cafe are same place. Front coffee shop and back side is Travel agency company. Place is amazing, look great and service is really perfect.
The team were very friendly and spoke perfect English. They spent time giving us accurate and useful information on how to get to Sin Thauk beach, booked us a beach bungalow as well as booking us a bus to Yangon upon our return. Had we more time, we would have loved to have done the snorkelling and river tour too as the staff gave us an authentic and memorable experience of Dawei. Also, the bikes we used were the best we had ridden on our whole backpacking trip, which was crucial to us as the roads were not always fully paved. It was also very considerate that the team at hello Dawei ensured our safety and well being by always available on call had we any problems. Thank you so much!!
Hello Dawei along with their cafe and restaurant was an excellent source of information to aid my planning for the days I had in the area! I also rented a motorbike from them and took their advice to ride to the amazing long and secluded Grandfather Beach (about 2 hours away). With them I was able to get transport to my next destination (across the border to Kanchanaburi). And the pizza and sangria were great too!
We spent 6 nights around Dawei during the water festival and the staff at Hello Dawei helped us make the most out of our time. They helped us book our accommodations at last minute while everything was nearly fully booked during the festival. They also found us seats in a VIP bus to continue our journey after the celebrations in Dawei. We were given many good tips (restaurants, beaches, celebrations, sightseeing, transports ...) and they also provided with us a good motorbike to visit the peninsula over a few days. There is WiFi and shower available at the office for guests. All staff members speak English here. We highly recommend Hello Dawei to organize your stay around Dawei.
We rented motorbikes from Hello Dawei, and received excellent help. They even went out and bought brand new helmets in order to find some that fit our children. Also had great advice for traveling South from Dawei, airport connections, etc.
We rented a motorbike For a day, but after their advices and their reccomendation we wouldn't leave anymore. The motorbike was a really good one, their english was great and they helped us a lot For anything we needed! Thank you For Your job!
it's really a good guy, despite the many adventures like the trip change (the boat company changed the route) but the agency refunded us because we did not want to do it. we rented scooters to go to maunmagan at good prices. After we left on myalamine to take a boat for hPa an unfortunately it seems that the information is not good there is no more government boat but just "special tourist boats" and since we were only two we could not take it. Otherwise the agency is perfect and do as it can with the Burmese mood.

*Myaw Yit Pagoda* It is located just over the Maungmagan Beach. The way from main road to the pagoda is narrow but not so bad. It is not a very busy place. It is a good sightseeing place to take the photos. The sea water around the pagoda is clear and blue. It also has a white sand beach. People like to take the photos among the rocks. The nature around the pagoda will give you fresh, happy and peaceful.
Myaw Yit Pagoda (မျှော်ရစ်ဆံတော်ရှင်စေတီတော်) in Dawei, Myanmar, is a stunning seaside gem that blends spiritual serenity with breathtaking natural beauty. Perched at the end of the Dawei peninsula, this working temple is home to resident monks and offers panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. The pagoda’s elevated location requires a bit of a trek—comfortable shoes are a must—but the reward is worth it. Its peaceful ambiance and relatively untouched surroundings make it feel like a secret retreat, often free of tourist crowds. The architecture reflects traditional Myanmar design, and the ocean backdrop is simply mesmerizing, especially at sunrise or sunset. A perfect spot for those seeking tranquility and a taste of authentic coastal Myanmar culture—don’t miss it!
The scenery is stunning and place is not crowded. The road to there is not so good, a small country road with many sagments ruined but it is a beautiful route overall
Super amazing Pagoda. Everyone should see it if stay in Dawei. It's about 15 km from Maungmagan
It has a natural sight-seeing view ,blue beach and the natural stones. It is really the place in which the natural beauty and the good deeds are combined.Myaw Yit Pagoda is a good place to visit not only for pilgrimages but also for travellers who seek nature.
Very pretty place 😍 I always enjoy to visit there.
It is 27 kilometers from Dawei and about 60 minutes drive by car. It really worth it. This pagoda is very popular for it's view. You can say this pagoda has the most beautiful view among pagoda. It is built on the rocky shore. So may rocks big and small can be seen around pagoda. You can also hear the sound of waves hitting the rock. Recommend to go there before sun rise. It is amazing to see sun rising.
Very Beautiful Beach Pagoda🤗🙏
