Visited 7/25 on a weekday. Definitely the highlight of Tanegashima. We booked the 10:15 tour of the facility, which included the Rocket Garage, Launch Complex, and Control Room. Each location is an absolute engineering marvel to look at, and the transport buses were quite comfortable. Also, you aren't allowed to take pictures or videos of the Launch Complex or the Control Room for obvious reasons. We were handed English translated paper guides which made the tour easy to follow as well.
Small, but it's free admission and free guided tours at 10:30,13:00, 15:00. A faff trying to reserve a place on the tour via email. We turned up on the day in the morning and was able to join the 10:30 tour. We did have a guide who spoke some English. Public transport was difficult to decipher as there is a big bus and a small bus but the small bus does not run everyday.
An amazing complex, within a spectacular natural area, definitely worth a trip from overseas. Great science is carried out here and Japan's space program deserves respect! The guided tour is also good. Maybe just the shop needs some improving.
The visitor centre contains a museum introduction the background of Japan's space history. It also have a very small souvenir shop. The group tour is gathered here. It has very great view of the TNSC.
The place is beautiful. Without any schedule only Space Museum can be seen, so make sure to enroll to one of the three guided tours through the facility. They're free. Without the tour you won't be able to see the actual launch pads or the control center room.
If you like space and rockets definitely worth a visit, free entry also. They also have scheduled bus guided tour that can visit some areas that cannot be accessed publically but I strongly recommend that you reserve a spot if interested. when I went the entire day scheduled tour was already booked out. I would like to check out NASA facility too.
A must see. Japan's Space Exploration Agency has done an excellent job with this attraction. I'm definitely going back to watch a rocket launch.
Beautiful place and many things to experience. I recommend buying some space meal at the souvenir shop.

Absolutely stunning landscape. We did a kayak tour with Ja-La Sora. It was amazing. 500m off the coast there are coral reefs with heaps of fish. Great for snorkelling
Very beautiful beach. It's got the beautiful scenery and an awesome cave where you can see the sea waves in and out. Worth visiting especially if you're visiting JAXA space Center. Since it's only 15mins away from it.
Caves were interesting to explore. I would recommend visiting here once for the experience. The view is great from the beach and the caves.
Very nice beach with excellent facilities. I stop by here at least once when I am on Tanegashima
Amazing place to explore by foot or by sea.
This is probably a great place to check out except if you don't time your visit properly in terms of time of the day you can easily find it difficult to manage to explore the caves/crevices that are somewhat hidden and beautiful. Youtube video will show you that. I couldn't see because it was high tide at the moment when I was there ... Approx 12-3pm. If you can manage time we'll, it's a beautiful place. But other than that the sea and the expanse of the view/ocean is very beautiful too.
Empty beach you can shred on your bike
This beach was so beautiful. Also, as few visitors come here, it was very quiet.

(Translated by Google) The Portuguese shipwreck is one of the most famous events in Japanese history. My wish came true when I finally got to visit. In 1543, a Chinese ship washed ashore on Tanegashima, and the Portuguese on board introduced the matchlock gun. This became known as the "Tanegashima gun." There was a large sign on the highway, so it was easy to find. The monument is at the end of a flight of stairs. I went down the stairs without thinking about it on the way there, but I realized it on the way back. It's quite steep. Incidentally, most of the ruins on Tanegashima are located on the Pacific side, including this shipwreck site. I learned at the Hirota Ruins Museum that this is because the coral reefs surrounding the island make it easy for ships to approach the Pacific coast.

(Translated by Google) Eating local gourmet food is one of the joys of traveling. That's true for me too. But I'm staying at an inn that doesn't include dinner. And I don't eat out. I go to the local supermarket just before it closes and buy boxed lunches and side dishes. We have put this into practice here on Tanegashima as well. On the mainland, you can get 10-20% off even just before closing, and if you go to a good place and get 30% off, it's a bargain. However, on the islands, 40-50% discounts are common just before closing time. I once came across a bento box that was 70% off. All of our dishes are made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. There are almost no deviations. Please try it once. Quiet topic, Kyu Sakamoto! (This is not just a play on words.) The deity enshrined at Homan Shrine is Tamayorihime no Mikoto, a woman who is said to be the mother of Emperor Jimmu. It is said that she brought seeds of five grains from the shrine of the sea god and spread them to Tanegashima (apparently Tamayorihime no Mikoto is the sister of Toyotamahime no Mikoto, the deity enshrined at Watatsumi Shrine in Tsushima). Red rice, one of the five grains, is still grown at this shrine as part of the rituals. I bought red rice at Tanegashima Red Rice Museum, which is about 300 meters away. However, this cannot be used as food locally. I ate it after I got home. The rice had a slightly different taste.
