Went here with a group from Taiwan! The staff was incredibly warm and inviting. There were so many quality activities arranged for us. If you're looking for a fun time with friends and less of a history lesson then this place is perfect. Samurai and kimono dress up. Archery, forced perspective displays, drum performance, fish feeding and more. I thoroughly enjoyed the forced perspective display. One particular individual from the staff was so helpful, and hilarious. Good excitement was contagious. The bathrooms were very clean. Finally they offer the sale of fresh apples. Should you require lunch there is a small cantina/cafeteria. When we left on the tour bus, the staff waved us a good journey from when we drove by them all the way to the exit. Heartwarming.
We visited during the weekday around noon, and there were very few people around. The place is large, but as it's a historical theme park, there’s not much to do beyond exploring. The ticket price, about 1,000 JPY per person, seems reasonable if you enjoy this type of attraction. The activities available include archery (which seems geared towards kids), taking 3D photos, and wearing traditional Heian clothing for photos. These activities are self-guided, and we only encountered staff at the gate and construction site—there were none near the activities themselves. A place you might enjoy if you have plenty of time to spare.
An experience of the culture of Japan and Tohoku region of 10 centuries ago. Used as a filming location for numerous TV dramas and movies. This theme park in the style of a capital city exudes a rich cultural heritage with its magnificent red buildings and exquisite landscapes gardens. The atmosphere here evokes memories of the heyday of Kyoto or Hiraizumi.
Very nice place and very good service staff and kindly to explain and introduce the facilities of the village. It can experience good old Japan dressed styles. Very enjoyable on it.
Fun and interesting place to visit. You can explore where several popular movies were filmed.
Strictly for Japanese history buffs but also good for the average tourists who want a taste of ancient Japan and the lifestyle of that time. The full course is over 2 hours but there is a shorter route of about 50 minutes which also includes a free photo in traditional costume. You get a packet of peanuts and a KAIRO (pocket size warmer) with the entrance ticket. I visited the place in winters and had the place to myself on a Saturday afternoon. It looks beautiful when covered in snow and the contrast with the blue sky/orange buildings is quite good.
Here it is possible to imagine what it was like in the era of 1100s' Japan. The rulers here tried to maintain peace and prosper. Before visiting Hiraizumi, where many spots are registered as world heritage, it is good to come here first as an introduction.
Visited there at 15:30, but the gate would close at 16:00. Better to visit this heritage park in the morning.

Beautifully carved wooden temple. So quiet. Lovely place to go and relax
The Kokusekiji temple is home to the annual sominsai. A winter water purification ceremony. Hundreds of men walk around in nothing but loincloth and douse themselves in cold water to purifying themselves. The festivities last all night. It ends with the winner taking home a somin bukuro or lucky bag. The festival is held every year around February 10th
(Translated by Google) This ancient temple is located along National Route 343, which crosses the Kitakami Mountains from east to west, and is said to have been founded in 729. The Kuroishi Temple Somin Festival, which was held every year from the 7th of the Lunar New Year to early dawn on the 8th of the following day, was famous, but due to a lack of people to carry the festival, it ended in February 2024. November 9, 2024 I visited the shrine in the evening. There were few worshipers, and the precincts were quiet. Behind the main hall (Yakushido), there are stairs leading to Myokendo. What guided the person who created the Katsura Ittobori to look like this? It must have been the teachings of Mr. Saicho, the founder of the Tendai sect, but the hotoke was placed on a Katsura tree, and the Buddhist sculptor was guided by the hotoke with a feeling of nothingness. As in Hori Susumu, the face of the Yakushi Tathagata here gave me the harshness of a saha. The National Treasure Yakushi Nyorai Seated Statue used to be opened only once every 30-odd years, but today it was as if we were getting a stamp on the Goshuin book and getting close to the National Treasure while listening to the explanation given by the guide. Wonderful Buddhist art♪ A wooden Buddha statue from the Heian period. The peaceful posture of the 12 divine generals, Nikko Bodhisattva, and Moonlight Bodhisattva is beautiful. The principal image of Yakushi Nyorai is in the fire prevention building. Apparently there have been five fires in the past, and each time the Buddha statue was saved. There are wonderful sculptures, a stately building that gives you a sense of history, and a Goma fire stand that is held during the Somin Festival before that, as well as a belfry, a pond, a snow-covered garden, and a majestic long-legged lion. A park with a very long history. Deserve to be visited by both historical buffs and anyone seeking a pleasant stroll.
It is a bit sad to see the overall condition, as the grass grew almost all the area for pedestrian, which does not happen often in the other major cities.
It's a quite place. You can find a large baseball field, trees and benches everywhere, and the Jinja inside the park was a really peaceful place. I heard that your wish will be fulfilled if you prayed at that Jinja. There are some visitors coming to pray at the jinja too. There is also a present shop inside. You can buy cards at the present shop, write your wishes on the cards, and hang it on the boards outside the Jinja. I wished foe the best next life for my dad who has passed away last week. (Translated by Google) First visit on Friday, August 2, 2024. I accessed it from the Tohoku Expressway Mizusawa Interchange, and I think it took about 10 minutes. Our company is considered to be the Rikuchu Ichinomiya Shrine, and is one of the few shrines in the Tohoku region that enshrines Amaterasu Omikami as its enshrined deity. There is a free parking lot on the grounds, so it is convenient to access by car.The shrine is surrounded by green trees that block the summer sunlight, making it easy to visit. I learned later that it was adjacent to Mizusawa Park and surrounded by lush greenery. Proceeding through the torii gate is a gravel approach to the shrine, passing through the chozubya and passing through the gate, leading to the shrine. The grounds are well-maintained and a pleasant place to visit. Since there is a regular route, I was encouraged to visit shrines within the precincts such as Yama Shrine. I could see summer pilgrimage announcements and festival preparations everywhere, giving me the feeling that summer was in full swing. I was able to enjoy a nice visit to the shrine away from the hustle and bustle, and at the end I had a commemorative goshuin stamp written on it. thank you very much.

If you walk while checking the route from the station, you will see a guide to the shrine, but please be careful as it is further ahead than the route, so it will be a long detour. Is it the biggest shrine in Mizusawa? is. Although it is an Engi-style shrine, it seems that it was enshrined here only in the Meiji era. Originally, a worship hall was built alongside Shiogama Shrine, which was previously enshrined there. There are many shrines within the precincts, and there are directions showing the route to worship. It's not often that you get a full gate with 12 horses, so you'll have a hard time against the hole parties, but even with a small number of horses, it's not super stable. The small paddock is characterized by a handwritten entry list. Lots of drink vending machines. There is a cafeteria away from the stand and a shop on the first floor inside the stand from the fourth corner. There is a 100 yen coin locker opposite the information corner just after entering the stand, but the capacity is not large so a backpack might be the limit. It is a surprisingly impregnable racecourse for train and bus users. Visited on Monday 4.28 on a weekday. The route is below. I stayed overnight at Ichinoseki, but I took the Tohoku Main Line bound for Morioka at 10:15 from Ichinoseki, arriving in Mizusawa at 10:38. The free bus departs at 10:50 and goes directly to the racecourse. About 8 minutes to the racecourse. On the day I went, the final race was at 6:15 p.m., and on the way back, I walked for about 10 minutes from the racecourse to the bridge that crosses the Kitakami River.I didn't go to the bridge, but when I crossed the pedestrian crossing, I saw the racecourse entrance bus stop on my left. Please note that the bus stop does not have chairs or a waiting area to protect you from the rain, so it may be difficult on rainy or snowy days. Take the Iwate Prefecture Kotsu Bus (SUICA can be used, but it only runs on weekdays) that leaves at 18:42 and takes the Yamabiko No. 66 bound for Tokyo, which leaves Mizusawa-Esashi Station at 19:12. (Translated by Google) Visited 3 times including the spring of 2024. I also like the road I took to get here. The second time I came, I was lucky because I got a commemorative dam card from Tank Yoshida. A majestic dam completed in 2013 that provides water to the Isawa region, which is located in an alluvial fan and has struggled with water supply since ancient times. It's worth seeing. The crest of the embankment is about 720m long, so just walking is a good exercise. Ishibuchi Dam, which was built after the war and is located 2 km upstream, is usually submerged under water due to the completion of Isawa Dam. There are materials on display inside the management office, so you can learn about its history and biology. If you drive to the Oshu Lake Observation Deck (closed in winter) that can be seen at the back of the right bank, you can enjoy the vast dam lake (Oshu Lake). It's a natural place, so there were times when I couldn't walk properly due to the fierce wind. Personally, I recommend visiting the Tokusuien Cylindrical Diversion Aqua Park, which I passed along the way, in spring, when water enters the cylindrical diversion and the flowers bloom. However, the road is lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees, so please be careful when driving. In addition, there is a colony of skunk cabbage nearby, which is soothing. The way it flows down from the spillway is also known as the ``White Snow Falls''. The view from below is also wonderful. The discharge water is very clean, but please be careful not to get too close. As I visited neighboring areas, I realized how much this region was struggling with water shortages. Considering the history of Ishibuchi Dam and the cylindrical water diversion downstream, it seemed that people's feelings toward Isawa Dam were conveyed. On the Akita side, the slope is steep from the junction of R397 and R342 to the park golf course. After that, it becomes a little gentler. Each curve is numbered, starting from number 2 and ending halfway. I think it goes up to 16. The tunnel at the pass is about 800m above sea level. On the Iwate side, the elevation gradually increases and there are no steep slopes. Finally, you cross two large bridges and the slope ends. You can see Mt. Yakeishi in the middle of the pass. There are two lanes and little traffic, so it's good for bicycles. When I visited, there were many people picking wild vegetables. If you happen to find yourself driving through Iwate and feel like needing a rest from the drive; why not stop by the Cattle Museum for a bit. As I was driving down the road, I found myself needing a stop and on a whim choose to stop by and rest my legs. What I found was a very nice Muesum with lots of information about cattle. Lots of love for Cattle can be felt going through the Muesum with sections dedicated to cows around the world and historical traditions with cows. It was an enjoyable 1.5 hr trip through and was worth stop.
Popped in because I've never heard of a cattle museum. All exhibits are explained in Japanese so you'll have to use a translation app. Rather educational in deed. Outdoors of the museum is a picturesque view of rice fields. Peaceful and quiet surroundings.
You can learn about cattle in Japan from the aspects of food, rituals, and growth.

Although it is located away from the popular World Heritage Site of Hiraizumi (Chusonji Temple and Motsuji Temple), it is a museum worth visiting at least once. The first floor features videos about cattle around the world, as well as an introduction to Maezawa Beef and its livestock farmers. There's also a whale bone discovered in Maezawa. The second floor is spacious and filled with materials related to cattle. Domestic cattle around the world can be broadly divided into European and Indian breeds, and Wagyu's DNA is European. Therefore, Japanese cattle are resistant to cold but weak to heat. There were many interesting things, such as: It was very educational. However, there were a lot of explanatory notes, which was difficult to read, so it would be nice if there was an explanatory video on the second floor as well. Also, the view of the Kitakami River from the second floor was beautiful. There was a signboard and a banner at the entrance, and a hina doll exhibition was being held in the annex on the left as you entered. It was a bit small since they were all displayed in one room, but it was a refreshing experience to see the Kukuri Hina dolls, which were different from the Hina dolls I had seen before. According to the pamphlet, ``Kukuri Hina'' is a name unique to this region, and is thought to come from the word ``kukuru'', which means wrapping cloth in cotton. In addition, Kukuri Hina was different from other festivals in that it featured a wide range of subjects, including dolls such as Dairi Hina, actors from Kabuki and Joruri, lucky charms, characters from fairy tales, historical figures, and historical facts. Furthermore, Kukuri Hina dolls are different from general Hina dolls in that they have a flat structure, making them convenient for storage and storage, which is unique to Kukuri Hina dolls, which I thought was interesting. It seems that both the Yakuin gate and the main building belonged to the Uchida family, vassals of the Mizusawa Date family. The family status of senior vassals was ``Nibanza Summon'', which was modeled after the Sendai Domain's hierarchy system. Even though he was a senior vassal, he was only a vassal of the Mizusawa Date family (a vassal from the Sendai domain), so his stipend was less than 100 koku. Presumably, the structure and grounds of the mansion followed the laws and regulations of the Sendai domain (the Sendai domain regulated the size of the residences of vassals in great detail, depending on the stone height). It’s very interesting place to visit. Personally i liked the calligraphy! He wrote very well in Chinese character!
Although it is rather shocking to see the clothes of Mr and Mrs Saito with bloods, which they wore at the time of assassination, the place is quite interesting, especially due to the fact that the same street is also famous for the birth place of another well known administrator Goto Shimpei.

He started out as a private in the Navy and rose to the top of the Navy, then served as Governor-General of Korea and became Prime Minister after Takeshi Inukai, who was killed by a bullet in the May 15th Incident, but amidst the wave of Japan's move towards militarism. He himself was killed by a bullet in the February 26 incident. I was moved by the story of how Mrs. Haruko sacrificed herself to protect Saito. I think it has the most extensive facilities among the three greats. Near the memorial hall, the library and old house donated by Saito for his hometown are preserved and can be viewed together. The memorial museum parking lot has plenty of space, both paved and unpaved, and there are not many visitors, so I don't think it would be a problem on a normal Saturday or Sunday. You have to pay 200 yen at the entrance to the museum and take off your shoes at the entrance to wear slippers. You can even visit the mansion where Mrs. Haruko lived in your slippers. First-time visitors to the museum were guided from the right-hand side of the first floor of the museum, looking to the left, going up, coming down, and being guided through a door next to the office toward the mansion. The memorial hall has large windows on the left and right, but the inside of the facility is closed with blackout curtains, perhaps to prevent UV rays, so you don't get the best of the building. It's true that I want to protect the exhibits, but it feels really disappointing. You can tour the mansion, including the warehouse where the bookcases are kept and the residence of the wife. The storehouse is solid and has a very nice feel with the brick walls outside and the solid feel inside. A mansion, a Japanese-style room with an alcove from the dirt floor, and a Western-style room. You can see the bathroom and kitchen. The place that seems to be a dirt floor has been slightly renovated. The light fixtures, transom, and ceiling are all wonderful. Garden from the verandah, floor specifications of Western-style room. There is a lot to see, such as the size of the bathroom with a Goemon bath and the patterned glass. It's a good facility not only for history buffs and great people, but also for people who like buildings. At this time of year, in mid-November, the autumn leaves had just finished turning, and while the dead leaves were flying around, I visited the memorial hall of a great man who was killed in the turbulent turmoil. Unfortunately...the person in charge doesn't come out. After ringing the bell several times at the reception desk for about 3 minutes, no one answered, so I called out loud and finally they appeared. It looked like he was eating. Around noon on a weekday...there are no visitors and the place is reserved for about two hours. To save electricity, the lights and heating are turned off inside the building, making it pitch black and cool. While the Takano Choei Memorial Museum had almost no materials or artifacts, the Saito Minoru Memorial Museum is well stocked with materials and artifacts and is worth seeing. Among other things, there are exhibits of vivid materials from the February 26 Incident, such as blood-stained pillows and futons, bullets, and other materials that are rarely seen in the public eye. What surprised me the most was how wonderful the courage of a Meiji woman was to see Mrs. Haruko stand in front of a violent officer who was holding a gun and firing shots to protect her husband. There was a time when marriages were arranged or recommended by relatives rather than love. I think the bond between husband and wife was stronger than it is today. I look at the materials related to the February 26 Incident on the second floor exhibit, and then review the materials on Mrs. Haruko on the first floor...I would be happy if I had a wife like this. I guess I won't be able to balance that unless I become a man of my own... The Saito Minoru Memorial Hall, where he worked until the time of Prime Minister, has a lot of materials, and although you can't see the archives, it is just like the library of the time. It houses a wide variety of books and newspapers from the time, including bundles of English newspapers. There are even razors and toothbrushes from those days on display, so it's fun to stop by and take a look even if you're not interested. The Saito Minoru Memorial Hall is reserved for private use...I wish it would get more attention. (Translated by Google) January 13th. Today is the Donto Festival at Hidaka Shrine ⛩️ In the morning, my wife and I visited the shrine bringing lucky charms (New Year's decorations, gifts, etc.) 🔥One theory is that this Donto Festival originates from a court event during the Heian period, where people burn lucky charms and pray for a rich harvest, family safety, good health, and business prosperity.😔I used to spend my school days here. I remember seeing the naked Donto Festival at Osaki Hachiman Shrine in Sendai on the night of Mutsuki 14th😳The Somin Festival at the local Kuroishi Temple will end this year. The origin, meaning, and purpose of naked worship are different, but they are all the same in praying for good health and a good harvest🤔I decided to continue visiting the Hidaka Shrine Donto Festival next year🕴️ I pray to the flame that rises in the year of the dragon I guess I'm praying for peace of mind 2024, New Year's Day of Reiwa 6. On New Year's Day of 2026, which is a day that is both conspicuous and wise, my husband and I and two of our grandchildren who were returning home visited the shrine for the first time in our lives⛩️There was already a huge line of people waiting to bow and pass through the torii gate, but we did not rush or rush and had peace of mind. Visiting the shrine 😔 I wanted to show my dignity as an old man by telling my grandchildren a bow and giving them an offering 😮‍💨 I drew a fortune after visiting the shrine 😚 This year is the 30th lucky day 🧧 Health, illness, treatment, changes in physical condition "Don't worry, but it's important to let go of the attachments in your heart." I took this as God's teaching and warned myself 🙇 Both the shrine visit and the place where lucky charms were given were very crowded with people queuing and crowded 😮 Even better than on a calm day. It was a peaceful start to early spring as I was able to visit the New Year's visit with my grandchildren while returning home 😊 Thank you for your continued support this year 🕴️ October 16th. Usually, the main reviews are about soba noodles, udon and ramen, and day trips and hot spring stays.😔It usually ends with subjective, self-centered crap without any special information😧However, this time, I'll be a little more human. I would like to write about Hidaka Shrine 🕴️ Every year, I visit the shrine on New Year's Day, and I don't miss it ⛩️ I keep a shrine talisman from Hidaka Shrine on my altar at home, and every morning I give water and bow twice and clap once 👏 🙏Many people have written about the history and rituals of this shrine in detail, so I won't go into it, but the two cedar trees called Ubagusugi, which are designated as natural monuments of Oshu City, are magnificent.😔This is a bit of an old document. However, according to the 2006 Environmental Agency's ``Japan's Giant Trees and Giant Forests, Hokkaido Tohoku Edition,'' the tree is 24m tall and the trunk circumference is 5.8m.😮I think it has grown even further by now🕺There was a period of anxiety and restlessness in my life a long time ago. , I visited the shrine almost every day as a request to the gods 😔 There was a notebook next to the offering box, and when I opened it, I saw multiple people who had recorded their visits almost every day 🫂 I quite like shrines and temples 🕴️ Izumo Taisha, Itsukushima Shrine, Ise Jingu, etc. I go sightseeing, and I also visit Shiogama Shrine and Zuiganji Temple while staying at the hotel 👋 My grandchildren's Shichi-Go-San festival was also held at Hidaka Shrine 👯 Maybe it's because it's a shrine, but it's a bit of a break from everyday life. I think you can experience the atmosphere 🙇 (Original) 1月13日。

The parking lot was spacious and I felt safe. It was a rainy day, but it started to rain lightly while we were visiting the shrine, and on the way back it started to rain, and that was the moment I felt that we were being protected today as well. Since it's July, it seems like the Tanabata Festival will be held until the end of the month🎋 It is also recommended for those who have never visited the shrine in July. (Translated by Google) 2020-2021 season I went skating for the first time. It's great that children are free and adults can get a half-day ticket for 1,200 yen. The parking lot was wide on the side, so it felt a little small. Lift tickets are cheap, and there are two lifts, allowing you to enjoy a variety of course layouts. After registering the location in my car navigation system from Sendai, I ended up passing through a mountainous area, which was difficult due to the deep snow. You can easily get to the ski resort by going sideways from Route 4. There are rumors that the ski resort will be closed, but I hope it continues to exist. The course has many gentle slopes, so it feels more like a practice course than a hard slide. Therefore, it is recommended for children and beginners. Moreover, a half-day lift ticket is an unbelievable price of 1,200 yen, so it's perfect for a little practice. (Translated by Google) This year, we were blessed with good weather and were able to fully enjoy the quality of the snow. Two children tried snowboarding (10 years old) and skiing (5 years old) for the first time. Although there are some steep slopes (for beginners), children were able to ride the lift and ski down. I was happy to have staff members who were friendly to beginners, slowing down the speed of the lift when children were getting on and off, and assisting children when getting on and off. You can ride the lift with your board in hand, so if you're worried about getting off, don't worry. The beginner's course towards the forest road is a little narrow, so you might feel scared if it's difficult to control the direction. Anyway, there was a lot of snow this year, and even if I fell or got stabbed, I felt as safe as jumping into a stuffed animal. You don't have to climb the mountain path, so if you have good snow, you can easily go there. On the way home, relax at Himekayu hot springs and have smooth skin. There are more private houses than I expected, and there is a lot of traffic. The shrine has a well-maintained parking lot and is easy to park. I accompanied my wife on her goshuin tour. I was able to write about it even though it was around the time of New Year's New Year's visit. I was surprised that there were shops on both sides of the offering (lol), but the part-time shrine maiden was working hard in the cold and was very kind. In the morning, after visiting Hiraizumi Motsuji Temple, I went to Hachimangu Shrine because I had something to think about⛩️I had stopped by here a long time ago after seeing the iris at the Irisawa Castle Ruins Iris Festival.😙It is very magnificent and solemn. It's a shrine that makes you feel good😤There was a car with an Akita license plate in the parking lot, and I thought to myself that it was probably headed for Hachiman Shrine😳I thought there were quite a few people who mainly visited shrines and temples😟 , I knew that the figure eight of Hachimangu Shrine is a dove that faces or cuddles 😔 It is said that pigeons are messengers of God 🙎 I walked on the gravel with neatly swept grains 🕴️ After visiting the main shrine I bought a health charm at the shrine office on the right 🧿 It's been a long time since I last visited Hachiman Shrine, a shrine that brings me a refreshing feeling 😊 (Original) 9月11日。

(Translated by Google) A memorial plaque commemorating the Hakkoda Mountain Snow March is dedicated at Chinjufu Hachiman Shrine in Sakuragawa, Mizusawa Ward, Oshu City. This plaque was dedicated to the shrine in his hometown by Private First Class Goto Sosuke, a survivor of the Hakkoda Mountain Snow March disaster, and is 52cm tall and 92cm wide. The inscription is now faded and difficult to read because it is hung on the outer wall of the shrine, but a clear photo and the full text are published in the Iwate Ema, compiled by Iwate Prefectural Museum. According to the book, Private First Class Goto left behind two waka poems. I walked the endless snowy mountain path, encouraging my heart for the sake of the Emperor I bow to the Emperor and pray for my life, and return to the flowers of my hometown The Hakkoda Mountain Snow March disaster (1902) was the biggest scandal since the enactment of the conscription law. However, with the Russo-Japanese War just two years away, the government and military were extremely afraid of public criticism of the military for its poor marching plans and lack of command structure, and tried to avoid criticism by using the Imperial Family as a shield. The Imperial Family repeatedly visited and inspected the area, and the Emperor bestowed a memorial service fee and a lump sum on the surviving family, and a lump sum on the survivors. In addition, the Empress bestowed prosthetic arms and legs on those seriously injured who had lost limbs. Private First Class Goto was seriously injured, with one-third of his left lower leg amputated, and the center of his right lower leg amputated, and he was forced to live with a prosthetic leg. Perhaps because of this, both of the waka poems begin with "Okimi (Emperor)." *In 1902, the 5th Aomori Infantry Regiment attempted a march through the snow on Mount Hakkoda, but it ended in a disaster with 199 of 210 soldiers dying (most of them froze to death) and the 11 survivors having to be rescued in a frozen state. Most of the 210 participants in the march through the snow were from the Tohoku region, with the largest number of soldiers (143) from Iwate Prefecture (of which 138 died, with only five survivors from the prefecture).

If you go by the car navigation system, you will go down a narrow road, but I was glad that there were not many oncoming cars. The grounds are quite spacious and the main building is large, but the most eye-catching feature is the well-swept gravel floor. When I asked the chief priest, he said that he cleans it once every two days, and I am amazed at the amount of work that goes into it. When I asked for a stamp, I was also given a small gift.
