Parker River National Wilderness Refuge is a wildlife sanctuary on a Plum Island. You pay $5 at the entrance, and enjoy a 17 minutes serpentine car ride in wilderness. The road is paved, but at the end, the last 5 minutes you will have to drive on a not paved but gravel road. There are plenty of small parking lots along this road. Some have the restrooms too. There are also 2 - 3 floor high observing decks. At the moment (June 8th, 2024), only one trail to the beach is open, at the visitor center, all the others are closed, not to disturb the birds, during their nesting season. I must admit the beach is stunning, and water is so clear, but extremely cold, only 58F. The wilderness and marshes are amazing, tons of small birds fly above your head, and the silence is so peaceful. Perfect place for meditation, when all you hear are just bird's songs.
Beautiful place. Very quite,we didn't see a lot of animals but the trails a really nice, landscape is very pretty
Great birding location..... There are many species of birds including hawks, osprey, owls, herons, egrets.ect that are there year round as well as seasonally. Beaches here are closed through most of the summer to allow piping plovers to safely nest. I can't recommend this place more if you're a birder.
- I did the hellcat trail (boardwalk trail loop) and the stage island trail. The hellcat trail is a 1.3 mi boardwalk loop and the stage island trail loops around the top of the island - $5 park entrance fee - Bathrooms located throughout the park - Plenty of parking - Lots of bugs in some areas and the beaches are closed for parts of the year to preserve birds during their nesting season - Wheelchair friendly
Great place to walk and go bird watching year round. Wonderfully kept, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Bathrooms are open. They accept National parks Annual Passes for entry. Nominal fee if you don't have one - around $5.00 if I remember correctly.
A gem. The majority of the beach is closed for piping plover season, but visit any time and it's great. Go in the offseason and enjoy the whole thing. It's wonderful.
An amazing place! Awesome they accept National Parks Annual Pass! Because we visited 2-3 times each day for the 2.5 days we were visiting the area. Caught two incredible sunsets, tried for a sunrise but the gate wasn’t open yet so we went nearby on the beach but it was all fog anyway haha. The boardwalk was amazing. Just an absolutely gorgeous area. Lots of wildlife as well!
So beautiful walking this area of the beach. Sea snails, sand dollars, and the sound of coyotes as the sun dips behind the skyline. Absolutely breathtaking seeing nature in this undisturbed form.

We visited on Saturday, August 31, and found parking easily (paid lot). This park has become one of my favorites. It’s clean, stunning, and well-maintained, with the added benefit of requiring dogs to be leashed, which we really appreciate since our puppies don’t get along with other dogs. We took a bit of a risk and made our way to the shore—definitely be careful, as a slip could be dangerous—but it was worth it to sit by the water. I highly recommend this park! Bathrooms are available at the parking lot and were clean.
Love this park! Mass residents only pay $5 parking here. I took my mother for a Mother’s day picnic/hike on a trail and im so glad i did!! The grounds are absolutely stunning with all diff kinds of species of birds and all diff kinds of flowers in bloom. Such a beautiful relaxing day with amazing views We also got to see some horses on the trail. Deff would come here again💯☺️💞
Maudslay State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The park's expansive trails wind through lush woodlands, offering breathtaking views of the Merrimack River. Wildlife enthusiasts will be thrilled by the abundance of birds, hawks, and deer. The park's meadows are home to a variety of wildflowers, making it a haven for photographers. In the spring, the blooming rhododendrons and azaleas are a must-see. Whether you're hiking, picnicking, or just taking in the serene environment, Maudslay is the perfect escape into nature.
Beautiful forested park, restrooms, picnic tables, easy walking, lots of trail options (many are marked; see photo), incredible rhododendrons, dog-friendly. Set next to the Merrimack River, with other water features inside the park. People ride their horses there. Driving: Be careful of Google Maps -- its GPS will tell you to turn into the rock wall or pedestrian path across of the parking lot. Parking: $5 ($20 non-Mass.), but free with a Mass. Senior Parking Pass ($10 for 62+ age, good for life).
Gorgeous large estate turned state park. Many trails to explore and experience various types of plants and wildlife. We saw rhododendrons that were at least 25’ tall!! So many buildings and gardens it kept us busy for 2 hours and we didn’t see half of the park. We saw some interesting buildings that we didn’t know what they were used for so that was fun to guess!! Definitely going back in the near future!
There is a parking lot on site. Parking is $5/day or $60/season right now. Dogs on leash allowed. You have so many options for trails from the trail head. There is a map at the start of the trail head. I have seen dogs off leash, but most people seems to keep their dogs leashed. You will find people on bikes, or on foot. Really nicely taken care of. Worth coming back for to explore.
We did 5.25 miles in 2 hours and 15 minutes. A great trail, well maintained and wide but could be marked better. Lots of dog walkers. We saw two deer about 30' from us. We also saw a red squirrel, a chipmunk and a snake swimming in the pond. It was a nice breezy day with no bugs. Make sure to see the tree lined road, gardens, fountain and pet cemetery. Watch out for horse poop and dog poop bags. A nice view of the Merrimack River on top of the hill. The only downside is $5 to park for MA residents and $20 for out of state residents, however there are bathrooms in the parking area.
Very beautiful. Mosquitos can become a problem during the summer, particularly in the forested areas south of Curzon Mill Rd. Also you should check for ticks if you go in the long grass or off the trails.

Very pretty.relaxing.lotsof ships to look at. Dog friendly. There is alot of grass a a very nice boardwalk. Many shops and restaurants with in walking distance.
Great view and nice post dinner stroll. Parking was kind of annoying, but it really was not that bad. Just kind of cramped. Not enough parking for the restaurants, without paying.
Such a beautiful area. I spent a couple of days here on business and loved this park. Could use a bit better lighting at night but I felt totally safe. Highly recommend it.
Peaceful at night and the folks are so friendly and welcoming. For some reason I get quite a few people offering to join me in my walk offering to give me my own little private tour even all the way to the end which was nice because it gets very dark and very quiet of the beaten path. So selfless and one very polite guy offered to rub my feet because it was quite a long walk to
Absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was unbelievably fresh and stuffed with meat. Desserts and drinks were also stellar. Great views and a super friendly staff. Excellent work and wonderful atmosphere!
A great place to visit and go for a walk. Great views of the harbor! If you want to sit on the lawn and relax, you can. During the Spring 🌼, Summer 🌞 and Fall 🍂, you can hear 🙉 music 🎶. Town parking 🅿️ lots nearby. You can access it by the walking trails. Update: September-October 2025; My daughter liked the park. Enjoyable at night. Worth a visit!
We came here for a picnic while returning to MA from Salisbury beach. The park was very well maintained and the waterfront view was good. Parking was $1 per hour and also plenty of option nearby. Overall we spent an hour an d half here and enjoyed the family time here.
The Waterfront Promenade Park in Newburyport, MA, is pleasant. There is a great walkway along the waterfront with restrooms and places to sit and enjoy the delightful day. Make sure you check out the swings just a short distance from the restrooms. There are a few shops where you can pickup lunch and then enjoy your meal at the nearby picnic tables

$5 per car, or free with national parks pass. Lots of areas to walk, with benches to rest. In May some areas are closed but still plenty are open. Beware of ticks.
Great place for surf cast fishing.... many areas to try from the beach area...to the reservation...I normally come here to fish for striper both morning and night time. The local bait shop is also a great place to get your gear and advice to best places to try that day.
So beautiful! Very little public parking. Miles of beach. Water never gets warm...highest temp will be below 70.
Best beaches in New England, with boardwalk hikes, as well as sandy and rocky beaches; all surrounded by dunes. Also nice marshes for bird watching.
Just left the Island after 2 week stay, we are from UK and try to get over about every 2yrs. I see the parking is getting a problem but the top end it's just as beautiful. Just such a relaxing place lucky to have relatives living there. 🏖
The beach entrance is not good. Board walk is closed. Prepare to walk a mile with all your stuff. Parking fee is $20 for nonresident.
National refugee to more than 300 bird species! In the summer it gets crowded, you need to arrive early if you want to enjoy the beach!
Beautiful and private beach but very limited parking. You need to avoid the area from mid July till mid August due to green heads. There is bird watching around the island too.

It was the best experience in my life visiting a Maritime Museum. This space is fantastic because you can see different kinds of old fashioned ships. In an immersion visiting a shipping world in the beginning of the foundation of Newburyport, you'll definitely love this experience that brings a fantastic history behind the exhibition.
What a great time at the Custom House last Saturday from 10-1!! A bouncy house drew my 3 year old grandson in on the back lawn which also had many child appropriate activities. A water table, fishing pond and and air hocket table turned into a sailboat racing river just to name a few!! Some great imagination went into this event which continues on Saturdays until September. The discovery room in the lower floor of the Custom House was open to explore. There you will find pirate gear, a lighthouse you can go in and operate the light and many other sea worthy adventures! Do not miss out on this hidden gem with a friendly staff.
FREE admission in the winter!!! 2 floors of 4 rooms filled with various relics, paintings, models, documents & more! Offer a scavenger hunt and boat find page, at least at this time. It made the walk through even more exciting! I wouldn't have noticed at least 1 mural and the last 2 scavenger hunt items were a fun challenge to find!! The building itself is gorgeous with history in every step!
I normally head for the "common" museums, but this caught my eye. I'm so happy I stopped in with a friend. The ship models are jaw-dropping. The detail is beyond me. There are a few places to grab a good photo too. Be sure to do that.
Very reasonable price. Museum is located right downtown so after a visit you can wander through the best part of town. Museum is well-curated and even includes a fun but educational children's area in the basement. Well worth a visit. Plan on 30 minutes.
I want to thank (and recognize) the Custom House Maritime Museum in Newburyport, MA, and especially Director Joan Whitlow and Pat Cannon for hosting the Beatrice-Ivey Wedding, June 12, 2021. These folks were more than accommodating and gracious, and the museum grounds is a magical place for a wedding or any event. I encourage you to contact either Joan or Pat for your next event. Simply amazing! Thanks again. Marty Beatrice
Had a great time with my visit! The staff was incredibly well informed, gave us a tour of the place, and helped us learn the history!
What a neat little museum! You can tell the staff is passionate about the town's history, and they're happy to answer any questions you have.

day27(27SEP2024) sanctuary55: there are no trails, but the backyard of the visitor center has some benches to enjoy the beautiful vista over the estuary. one of the tanks in the visitor center had baby horseshoe crabs the size of my pinky fingernail.
Great place to get advice on visiting the local wildlife sanctuaries in the area. While this Mass Audubon location does own coastal marshland that protects the local biodiversity, it doesn’t have walkable trails. It does have friendly and helpful staff, nice bathrooms, two marine life tanks, and wonderful programs.
Facility can be seen from the roadway. Large parking lot out front. The Event today is live sea creatures from the Atlantic ocean. Come visit and gets hands on experience with creatures from the sea. Public welcome 😁 While you are here please take a moment to listen and learn about the nature for all 2026 ballot. Must be a Massachusetts resident to participate so please come out to support. Facility is clean, well lit, and and staff extremely knowledgeable.
Quick stop, expected more. No trail to walk, contained to fenced area. Beautiful views for birdwatching on the 2nd floor. Small marine life tank as you enter in right.
They have the only known instance of the elusive Northern Hemisphere penguins, totally worth a trip just to see them! 😉🐧🐧🐧🐧
I visited this place as a field trip classroom chaperone for my son last week, beautiful weather that day, and the kids and parents all have great time. There is a beach where kids can collect the shells and also a lot of small crabs- we release them to sea afterwards. This is a place known for bird watching with many boardwalk and two watch stations. We did not visit those due to time. Definitely will come back with family.
Stopped passing through. They have everything blocked off. All the paths. Kinda a waste of time

This place is so much fun! We hosting a wedding welcome event in the event space which has Bocce, shuffleboard, a mini putting green, mini basketball, and corn hole (and booked the pickleball courts too, for good measure). Our guests had a great time! We were able to set-up prepaid drink tickets and bring in outside food for catering. There was even live music in the main bar area which added a lot of energy to our celebrations. The only issue was the temperature of the event space was not well regulated, especially once people were sweating up a storm on the pickleball courts. If you are hosting an event in the summer, I would think about bringing some fans for additional comfort. Otherwise, we had the greatest time and loved creating new memories at NBPT! The staff and service was wonderful!
We came here just before closing one recent Sunday and so appreciate the kindness of the staff. We were waiting for a commuter rail train back to Boston and didn’t realize how early everyplace around the commuter rail closes on a Sunday! The amazing staff gave us our beer in a plastic glass so we could sit outside in the outdoor area. We hadn’t had time for dinner yet and some local places we tried were closed for delivery… so the kind bartender gifted us a box of crackers from her own car. We really appreciate such an act of kindness and I’ll always recommend Newburyport Brewing after our experience here. Thank you for going the extra mile and taking such good care of us!
Decent beer with a nice outside area that is uncovered. Dog friendly inside and outside. If there is a band there's a chance that there is a cover. The day we came the cover was $10/ person. If a band is playing it will be loud inside so don't go expecting to have a nice conversation with your group unless you sit outside. Birdie pilsner is pretty good if not a tad sweet and their Newburyport apa is definitely old school with some crystal malt sweetness but some aggressive hopping so it drinks like an old school lagunitas or stone beer from the early 00's. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.
Great brewery in Newburyport! Came here for a quick drink and found a wide open area to be outside, rooms with games, and a DJ playing beats through the afternoon. Terrific place to hang out in the summer, with friends and family. Would definitely recommend !
I love all their beers. They have a good selection of beers on tap something for every beer drinker. My absolute favorite beer on this visit to the brewery was the Tall Buoy IPA. It had a good hop punch, and a smooth finish. The only reason I gave four stars was because we decided to sit outside and sadly the tables did not have umbrellas which made the beer warm relatively quick.
Lovely outdoor space with food, live music, and good beer on tap. One complaint - I bought some beer to take home and saw they were selling a “hop variety” mix pack which seemed like a good deal. The other canned beers in their cooler were canned within the last few weeks, but when I got home and opened the mix pack, I came to realize all the beers in the pack were from October 2019 (it’s September 2020.) I tried one and it was gross. So basically - don’t buy the mix pack, they’re using it to hide super old beer. As long as you avoid that it’s a lovely place
Awesome spot. Super dog friendly indoors and outdoors and delicious beers added to the experience. Bring your own food if you want a snack!
This is one of the best places to see live music in the area. But MAN I wish they had beer I could stomach. The beer is just SO bad it basically isn't drinkable. I want it to be, but it is so far and away from anything out there being brewed right now.

RiverWalk Brewing in Newburyport, MA for a few pours of some delicious traditional & light beers. This is my third time here over the past few years & this trip didn't disappoint. Previously on my visits I grabbed mostly IPAs to try with a sour, cream ale & wheat beer thrown in. These guys offer a wide variety of different styles, but as the start to a day with two other breweries & a restaurant planned I decided to keep it on the lighter side. Over the past year especially, I find myself starting off with lagers or pilsners & slowly building to IPAs & stouts to end the drinking session. It's definitely helped me appreciate & get into more styles than just IPAs, plus with now being in my forties I can't drink six 8.5% juice bombs in a row anymore. 🍻🍻😥🔥 I started off this trip with CASK UNCLE BOBS ESB that was good, but I've had much better New England bitters recently. The second pour was better, ME AND MY DUNKEL Munich Dunkel was a delicious above average dark lager. The third beer was the winner in the FALCONER LIGHT Lager which was super crisp & very drinkable. I could definitely see myself throwing back a handful of these on a hot day. 🍻🍻🔥💪 All your usual seating options here with bar, tables & hightops plus a large outdoor patio area when the weather allows. We grabbed some pretzel bites to help absorb the booze, there was a donut flight option with three different donuts & tasters that I'll without a doubt be getting in the future. The service was good & the waitress was really friendly & accommodating, unfortunately I forgot to get her name. Great fun spot to check out for sure within a already massively saturated large brewery hub. 🍻🍻🔥☘✌ BEERGASM RATING - 69/98 NO VIAGRA NEEDED 🍻🍻🍆🍆🍆💦💦💤💤🔥🔥 #wildweekend #craftbeer #supportlocal #beerstagram #BeerGoals #untappd #NewHampshire #newengland #newhampshireeats #beer #brewery #brewerylife #bartender #nhbrewed #nhbrewery #food #foodporn #Massachusetts #beergasm #wildweekend
Nice airy brewery around 5 mn. drive away from Newberryport. I love their hazy. I didn't try the food but I saw many people ordering nachos and pizza. It's a dog friendly place. They have a large indoor and outdoor space with seating
What a great spot for some food and drink! The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place to drink excellent beer and has great food, try this place!! It’s located next a rail trail!!
Great beers in an awesome space. Lots of outdoor seating and plenty of indoor space too. Make sure you walk to the back! They have some food options too. The Nachos are huge and great to share!
I grabbed a quick flight and the beer was awesome! The honey ale was definitely my favorite, and I'll be back for more! Vibes/ beer/ atmosphere - 10/10.
Great place. Great service. Tasty beers. Good size menu, though we didn't try the food. Looks like a party on weekends. Cornhole boards and disc golf set ups. Worth a visit.

Rock climbing gym
Fun & Games
Slide 1 of 8
I've climbed at several gyms in Mass, NH, and Maine and this is my favorite one by far. The variety of bouldering options is unmatched. There were overhangs, a comp wall ,and even a crack line , which is rare for bouldering. I climb at V4 -5 level at best and you could tell the route setters were good because of how each route played to different styles. They don't just throw holds at the wall and attach a random grade. If I lived closer I'd definitely be a member.
Small gym, short top ropes, old slick holds, the sets are ok but nothing inspiring. Expensive for what the gym has. I also think that their no teaching belay policy is just a money grab. Staff was nice though and I was desperate to climb while travelling so it scratched that itch.
Unfortunately thanks to the condescending, socially inept human being that “helped” us today, I will never be returning here with my kids. We have been here over a dozen times with no issues, yet he managed to make both the adults and children in our group feel uncomfortable. The manager was helpful and understanding but unless the support staff learns how to appropriately interact with people, do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.
This place is amazing! I have always wanted to go rock climbing, but could never find a good place to try out. One day I decided to just roll with this one, which did not disappoint. It's very clean. The staff were nice and friendly and walked us through how to set up the auto buylaes(don't know how to spell that). Their courses change every so often. It keeps things more exciting. If you want to start rock climbing then this is a great place to start!
6 STARS!!! We had an epic family day at Sunday open climb.... This is a great place for kids and adults who are not athletic, or for a family that wants to do something together. You have to encourage each other and it really builds cohesion The equipment and walls and staff are top-notch!
Friendly staff, good variety of routes that are fairly rated. New routes pop up every three weeks or so, so if you climb often you may run out of new routes in your level. Can get crowded as there are often kids classes or group nights (would recommend avoiding "guys night" on Wednesdays). I really like this gym when it's not too crowded but I do have a similar complaint to some of the other reviewers. I've been going biweekly for probably two months now and usually there's like one or two people in the way of the top roping walls. They'll move if you ask but I shouldn't have to. However, yesterday there was a huge crowd of boulderers blocking like a fourth of the available top roping routes. Even worse, a coach/staff member was blocking a few routes in another spot having a meeting while sitting under a top rope wall! I know we are uncommon and most people autobelay or boulder, but it just comes off as really rude especially when they can clearly see us trying to climb. Wish they would enforce climbing etiquette more.
Great indoor rock climbing gym, a little small but the other chains located in massachusetts offer a much larger space and more challenging walls to climb. This location is great for friends and family to hangout at, there's also a brewery right next store! ;) The staff is very knowledgable and helpful to climbers of all experiences. Highly recommend taking the intro to climbing course as it also comes with a 10 day pass to the gyms and the course gives you a great overview of how to prepare for climbing out on your own.
I love that it's fun for me and fun for my son. In a couple times per week to climb and for yoga. There's a schedule they follow for resetting walls that always keeps it fresh, while still letting you work on a project for up to a month before a reset.

Reverend Jerry was so knowledgeable and fun!! We were there about 2.5 hours and enjoyed every moment! If you love to hear about and see American history, this place is a must see!! Thank you for an amazing tour!!
This was an amazing tour!! Jerry was extremely captivating, knowledgeable, and interactive. He answered any questions we had, kept it entertaining, and was just a pleasure! I highly recommend it to anyone, especially if your knowledge of the First Great Awakening is lacking like mine!
This is a review of the tour of the building (since I have not attended Sunday services there I cannot comment on them). The historical tour with Jerry was a true treat. We came because we had an interest in seeing the place where the famous preacher George Whitfield was buried, but the tour exceeded our expectation. We were able to learn about the building, Benjamin Franklin and Paul Revere, and (of course) George Whitfield.
Jerry gives a phenomenal tour and gave an excellent history of the church as well as so much information on Whitefield and his relationship with Benjamin Franklin.
Calling all history buffs!! Wow. What an amazing guided tour with Rev. Jerry! He took us from the 1700s to present day. This was the highlight of New England Tour. A definite stop in this beautiful seaside small town.
Rev. Mullins gave my family a tour and our friends (who were supposed to come but got sick beforehand) are so sad they missed out! One of the best historical tours I've ever been on, and my family goes on many. Rev. Mullins' enthusiasm is contagious and you can tell he knows his history. It was amazing to see one of the places Rev. Whitefield preached and where he is buried. Be sure to bring $5 cash per person for the tour. A must see if you are in the Boston/Newbury/Newburyport area!
We visited this meeting house and had a very nice tour with Mr Mullins. He took us up to the top of the bell tower and the view was amazing. It was similar to being thrown back into time to hear about George Whitfield and his enduring faith. I was sad to hear however he was a slave owner and even had a section for slaves in the back of the fellowship. It’s not mentioned a head of time but their is a $5.00 tour fee. I wouldn’t recommend attending the service however, just the tour. They have a female “Pastor” now and it’s a liberal form of Presbyterians
Incredible tour of an important historical church!

Lovely mix of small businesses, live music, food! Great spot to wander and check out. Then park and wander Newburyport, nice Sunday mid morning trip.
Farm to table. Fresh veggies 🍅 n fruits 🍎 home baked goods 🍝 , music 🎶 n the vibes. Few Art stalls as well. This place makes my Sunday Morning.. Rain or Shine, it’s open 🌞 ☔️
Nice little market that is open year-round - every weekend late spring to mid-fall, every ither weekend in winter... great selection of local farm produce (much of it organic), and other local crafts too. We shop there all the time...
A lot of my old favorites are no longer setting up shop but it's still a great opportunity for fresh veggies and some cool foods you might not otherwise discover and of course local crafts and businesses.
Sunday they have a farmers market. Organic foods fresh fruits and veg. Etc.excellent and music to listen too. It's at the Tannery from 9-1
Farm to table. Need I say more! Highly recommend stopping by. Also open in the winter. Other products and hand made items.
It is very nice but it should go to 2 instead of 1 pm on Sunday. Better yet if it was on Saturday.

If you want to get away and explore the scenic beach at Plum Island, Massachusetts, you are in for a treat.. a lovely experience
Love Plum Island! We came in August and we're able to do the lighthouse tour. The beach area is nice, tide can come in fast though! Would definitely come back here.
I wasn't able to enter the lighthouse. It was closed for the season. It is scenic, lights up with a green light and the grounds are maintained. A nice garden is off to the side. If you visit the beach ⛱️, it is a short distance from the beach entrance.
We came strictly to see the lighthouse.. The website said it was open for viewing.. After driving an hour to get here it was closed.. Never got to see the inside other then to look in the windows
The lighthouse isn’t even on the water. It’s in a fenced in yard. It probably used to be seen from the water but the town has grow up around it. The only parking near it is a paid parking garage lot. It looks like it’s on private property but we saw a photographer and a family go in for a photo shoot. Definitely not the best lighthouse. But it’s a piece of the history.
This is but a moments diversion from your beach day. It was interesting to see how many times the river and thus the lighthouse has moved. I have been to plum island before and was seeking a little more. We found the lighthouse and a couple of information signs so again about a ten minute experience. The light house was NOT open so it’s a walk around the base and read the sign and on to the next adventure
We were here in the winter and there were no tours of the interior available. Still, it is a picturesque setting and if you can go inside on a tour the views must be wonderful. For history buffs, the Plum Island Lighthouse holds stories of maritime adventures and the challenges faced by early keepers. Its presence serves as a living testament to the rich maritime heritage of the region. Informational plaques on-site provide insights into the lighthouse's history and significance.
Quiet area. Lots of information on light house. Parking was high for just a few hours 20. We could tell holiday weekend lots of beer cans and trash on beach beautiful area and views

Love this place so much. Wish it wasn't getting demolished. It's clearly an iconic landmark to many. Parker River Wildlife Refuge should be ashamed of their massive mishandling of a historic landmark. Love this place and always will, thankful for the artists that have captured this place in their paintings, illustrations, photos and more.
I'm not sure why I love the pink house so much, but many others do as well. It's a fun attraction to drive by, park the car, take some photos and wonder about the backstory. ..... Think nasty divorce and following settlement agreement........
I learned about the Pink House 🏠, or the Spite House, after watching an episode of Legal Eagles on YouTube. What the lawyer said about the house is actually based on rumors, not facts. It does make for an interesting story! To get to the end 🔚 of the driveway, there is parking 🅿️ at the Greenbelt F. William & Henry Graf, Jr. Salt Marsh. You can walk along the side of Plum Island Turnpike and get to the end of the driveway. A police 🚓 car drove by and didn't seem interested in me. Parking along the turnpike is restricted because there is a bike 🚲 path along the turnpike. The house looks abandoned but has a wire connected to it from a nearby utility pole. You can't visit the house. If you want to learn more about the history, you can visit supportthepinkhouse.com for more information ℹ️ about the history of the Pink House and it's former owners. Who knows, maybe it will become an Airbnb rental? Update: March 2025; The house is scheduled for demolition at the end 🔚 of the month. If you want to see it 🙈, you better go soon 🔜!
Iconic!!! I’ve always loved stopping by the pink house. Such a shame they will take it away soon.
I'm going to miss this landmark when they tear her down 😢 she's been standing proud for 100 years 🩷
A total "waste" of time, money and energy.... There are plenty of similar houses like this throughout the region. Big deal, its pink and its the remnants of a divorce decree. We have plenty of them too... "demolish it"! There are so many worthy causes to support such as, schools lacking supplies, children in hospitals, veterans who struggle, elderly in homes who never have a visitor or bouquet of flowers. This house is not a worthy cause of anyone's effort, time, money or any donations.
My relationship with The Pink House has evolved throughout the years. At first I didn't get it. What's the appeal of this battered down, crooked, abandoned home? Why is this such an iconic landmark in the area? But over the years, the Pink House has grown to be a constant in my life. It's kind of like the moon. I can always count on it being there, standing in the marsh in all it's glory. It glows in all it's pinkness, even through the most treacherous of Plum Island storms. I have no other choice but to give The Pink House Five (5) Stars.
A landmark that is set to be torn down due to Matt Hillman not giving a care to the community or the history of this house. #SaveThePinkHouse

St Paul's Episcopal Church gravyard has some of the most interesting pre-1800 hand carved grave stones I have seen. The graveyard surrounds the church and it is easy to explore the gravestones quickly if you are in Newburyport. These old stones are from some of newbury's earliest settlers and most of them are still in very good condition. I highly recommend exploring this graveyard when you are in town and taking the time to closely examine these wonderfully carved grave stones.
We went to a Newburyport Chamber Music concert here. The acoustics are excellent and we really like how the pews are in boxes.
My husband and I got married in Saint Anna's chapel. It was absolutely beautiful with a brass chandelier, stained glass windows, heavy wooden pews, and a good-sized pipe organ. There is a wheelchair lift on the stone steps so it is accessible. Seating for about 100 or so people. This historic venue was restored less than 10 years ago. It was like a dream!
Over 300 years of continuous worship ! Loving and welcoming congregation with a truly gifted Pastor. The buildings and grounds are attractive and historic. The burial grounds hold stories and legends to be explored. Worth a visit on any day of the year. Oh, and the Chapel is a wonderful space for various events, including weddings and concerts.
Love St. Paul's💖 and everyone who works, serves, and helps people there! I have a long history with them: I went to dancing school there in 1962!🙄🤫😏 Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were wonderful teachers.🙏💖 Also, in recent years, (not so long ago🙄), I had the good fortune to dine there, thanks to the lunch program, when I was hungry, they fed me. I'm forever grateful to all those good people!🙏💖🙏 And, most recently, immensely enjoyed watching my world-class actress,(-or..😉) sister, Kathy, direct and star in an outdoor play, 'The Wife of Bath', a tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, from the 'Canterbury Tales'! Bravo to all the actors and crew!👌👍 I think the church is almost as old as the tale! One of our most beautiful chapels in Nbpt!💖💖💖 With warm regards, Byron M. Isbell
Just looking at a great historical church.
Went for the Labyrinth, nice quiet area for prayer and reflection once you realize the post is not at the entrance
A wonderful place. People helping people. Everyone that works at ST Paul's is awesome. Thank you all.
