Salisbury Beach State Reservation is a 521-acre park featuring 3.8 miles of Atlantic Ocean beach, a boardwalk over dunes, and campgrounds. It's a popular destination for families with its family-friendly beach, wildlife observation trails, and excellent public campgrounds. The reservation offers sand dunes, hiking trails, bird watching opportunities, picnic areas, and scenic views of Plum Island.
Absolutely love this beach! It has a great family-friendly atmosphere, and everyone does their part to keep it clean. There are multiple lifeguards on duty, which makes it feel very safe. There are three main parking lots—Lot 1 is great if you enjoy rocky areas and don’t mind a walk, but I highly recommend Lot 3. It's more centrally located and makes it easier to leave on busy days. Low tide is a big plus for families, creating little pools that are perfect for kids to play in. No reservations are needed, which is rare these days. Entry is just $14 for MA residents and $40 for non-residents—cheaper than many other beaches. Bonus: there's a rinse-off area that makes cleanup after the beach super easy. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

Terrific public beach, large with tons of parking. The beach is kept very clean, and at least so far this year the green-heads have been minimal. The water can be chilly but hey, it’s nearly New Hampshire so that’s expected. Services are minimal (restrooms with pit toilets) but otherwise I highly recommend this beach.
Sabrina R — Google review
Absolutely my favorite beache to go to in Massachusetts. The surf is good. The water is clean and the beach is big and plentiful. There's plenty to do at the pier and tons of food spots! The arcade is so much fun and the people in there are so nice. We always have to stop at Tripoli because their pizza is the best!

Our first time visiting. Clean, lovely beach. Nice restrooms, lifeguards and soft white sand. Even an ice cream truck. Lots of kites and families. We will be back next year.
Paul G — Google review
Beautiful beach with a simple but fun boardwalk. We opted for Salisbury Beach bc there was an event at Hampton and we wanted to avoid the crowd. It was the weekend after Labor Day. Everything was still open but there are no lifeguards after Labor Day. The beach has large waves and is on a slight hill. My only complaint is the event center on the beach is pretty ugly from the beach. I have eaten dinner there and it’s beautiful on the inside but the building is a sore sight for those on the beach
Christine K — Google review
Such a beautiful area. Great to walk, enjoy nature, catch the sunset, and even camp if you want to.
Dan M — Google review
One of the best beach locations near Boston. Plenty of parking for about $10 daily. A lot of space for beachgoers. Lifeguards are on duty. Public restroom with family room. Public play area. Nearby food stands were also really good.
Ruibing W — Google review
We drove up to see fireworks on the beach, it was lovely! There is a fun area with food and games near the beach and the sand was soft. Would love to go back and explore more!

Blue Ocean Music Hall is an oceanfront music venue that hosts frequent concerts and offers two full bars. The seating is flexible, and light fare is available. The venue features a new color palette that reflects the beach scene just steps away from the 13-room hotel. Accommodation options include stand-alone cottages with amenities such as a full kitchen, hot tub, and fire pit, ideal for family getaways.
I had table seats, second row, for Lotus Land Rush Tribute. I have seen them and several other shows at Blue Ocean in the past. Good venue. Doors opened at 7, the band started right at 8. Friendly wait staff provided table service for drinks.

Great venue, easy parking and seating up near the stage at a reasonable cost. ($65 a seat) Saw John Cafferty and the beaver brown band. Good time! I've also seen the Meatloaf and Queen tribute shows there. The Latin is perfect and never too crowded.

It's a great venue with beautiful views of the ocean and the fireworks during the summer. They have good food, tasty drinks, and plenty of space for sitting or standing. I personally love being on the dance floor, nice and close to the stage! Always look forward to returning!

Restaurant
Hodgie's Ice Cream is a renowned dessert destination that has been serving homemade ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt since 1984. Located just a short drive from downtown Newburyport, this spot offers a variety of delicious treats through its outdoor walk-up window. In addition to their delectable frozen delights, they also serve grilled items such as burgers. The establishment has maintained its nostalgic charm over the years and continues to provide generous serving sizes with friendly service.
Going to Hodgie’s was like a homecoming for me. I used to work down the road back in 1988 and would go to Hodgie’s with co-workers. The place hasn’t changed one iota except perhaps flowers underneath the sign. The ice cream is as delicious as ever. I had the strawberry shortcake, and they did it right using a biscuit. The workers were hard working college students who were polite and friendly. Be sure to give a tip for their collective college fund!
Elena Y — Google review
Hodgie’s Ice Cream at 71 Haverhill Rd in Amesbury, MA has been a family staple forever. Careful when you go to order by the number of scoops! They have HUGE servings! I love their wide selection of tasty treats and other menu items too. The flavor of the ice cream is very good, and the fudge and cream too, but to me it is grainy, not smooth and creamy. I wonder if it had been thawed and refrozen too many times? Not sure, but it’s definitely grainy compared to other places. It doesn’t stop me from going, but it keeps me from giving it a top score. The hubs liked his coconut chip. You can tell by the consistent line out front that people love Hodgie’s! There is also seating out back to the left, under the trees. Important to know, there are no public bathrooms there, so plan ahead!
Jan A — Google review
I've gone to Hodges quite a few times over my life and the ice cream and food has always been excellent. Ice cream portions are generous. I only wish that they were open year round. They're closing October 14th for the end of their 2025 season

My Go-To, all time favorite place ever.. Ice-cream is amazing & their food is worth trying if you haven't yet. So many menu options to choose from I find myself still trying new things & the options are endless. Customer Service is ALWAYS 💯.

On vacation in Amesbury and found this place using Google Maps. It is incredible. We got the Hoddie Cup and it was just enough. If there is a flavor you want and they don’t have it, you don’t need it. I had coconut chip and my spouse had Kahlúa Chip. Both were awesome.

This is a fun place to go for local ice-cream! Many flavors to select from and addition specialty flavors of frozen yogurt, soft serve and sorbet. Portions a very generous and it can be overwhelming to try to eat a small size but really fun!!!!! A definite place to try in the Newburyport, Salisbury or Amesbury area....
Michael N — Google review
Asked a server at a dubkin on our way home from Hampton beach for local ice cream & she sent us here...and we're so happy she did. Their size to price is amazing. You get so much ice cream. Our server, was super great. He asked me right away if knew what their sizes were as I ordered a kiddie for our 9 yr old & im thankful he did, because it would have been HUGE. My boyfriend & I shared a kiddie sundae while the 9 yr got a scoop...more like 2 haha loved it. Would 1000% go back if we're ever in the area again.

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Gatehouse is a sprawling sanctuary located less than four miles from downtown Newburyport. It spans 4,662 acres of diverse wildlife habitats including salt marshes, swamps, maritime forests, sand dunes, beaches, and salt pannes. Visitors can enjoy observing the numerous species of songbirds, waterfowl, and shorebirds that call this barrier island home throughout the year.
Parker River National Wilderness Refuge is a wildlife sanctuary on a Plum Island. You pay $5 at the entrance, and enjoy a 17 minutes serpentine car ride in wilderness. The road is paved, but at the end, the last 5 minutes you will have to drive on a not paved but gravel road. There are plenty of small parking lots along this road. Some have the restrooms too. There are also 2 - 3 floor high observing decks. At the moment (June 8th, 2024), only one trail to the beach is open, at the visitor center, all the others are closed, not to disturb the birds, during their nesting season. I must admit the beach is stunning, and water is so clear, but extremely cold, only 58F. The wilderness and marshes are amazing, tons of small birds fly above your head, and the silence is so peaceful. Perfect place for meditation, when all you hear are just bird's songs.

Beautiful place. Very quite,we didn't see a lot of animals but the trails a really nice, landscape is very pretty

Great birding location..... There are many species of birds including hawks, osprey, owls, herons, egrets.ect that are there year round as well as seasonally. Beaches here are closed through most of the summer to allow piping plovers to safely nest. I can't recommend this place more if you're a birder.

- I did the hellcat trail (boardwalk trail loop) and the stage island trail. The hellcat trail is a 1.3 mi boardwalk loop and the stage island trail loops around the top of the island - $5 park entrance fee - Bathrooms located throughout the park - Plenty of parking - Lots of bugs in some areas and the beaches are closed for parts of the year to preserve birds during their nesting season - Wheelchair friendly

Great place to walk and go bird watching year round. Wonderfully kept, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Bathrooms are open. They accept National parks Annual Passes for entry. Nominal fee if you don't have one - around $5.00 if I remember correctly.

A gem. The majority of the beach is closed for piping plover season, but visit any time and it's great. Go in the offseason and enjoy the whole thing. It's wonderful.

An amazing place! Awesome they accept National Parks Annual Pass! Because we visited 2-3 times each day for the 2.5 days we were visiting the area. Caught two incredible sunsets, tried for a sunrise but the gate wasn’t open yet so we went nearby on the beach but it was all fog anyway haha. The boardwalk was amazing. Just an absolutely gorgeous area. Lots of wildlife as well!

Seafood market
Bob Lobster is a popular seafood spot with a laid-back atmosphere and scenic river views. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes such as fried clams, fried oysters, and their specialty lobster rolls, including the indulgent Fat Lobster. The restaurant also offers outdoor dining with picturesque marsh views. While some find the onion rings a bit greasy, the generous portions and pleasant staff make for an enjoyable experience.
We really enjoyed lunch and dinner here. A good amount of outdoor picnic tables overlooking the marsh. Small indoor seating, but it wasn’t too busy when we were there so no issues with seating. They sell Pepsi products. My mom said they didn’t have cocktail sauce. We each enjoyed 1 1/4lb lobsters for dinner which came with fries and Coleslaw. The coleslaw is very good, just wish it came with more! I also got the Caesar salad but wish I didn’t because it was too much food. The salad was huge on one of those large oval paper plates. The parm on top was nice. For lunch my mom got the 1 1/4 lobster again with fries and Cole slaw + the small whole belly clam basket. She really liked them but did say they weren’t as tender as another spot in/near Kennebunkport. I got the fried oyster dinner and loved them. They were small to very small, but I honestly enjoy them more that way. Probably 30 or so of them. Tons of fries. Probably should have just gotten the oyster basket - not dinner. Would recommend this spot!
Pamela B — Google review
Lobster is my favorite food (I’ve eaten many over the years) and this was absolutely the best lobster I’ve ever had!! I ordered a whole 1 1/2 pound lobster. It was a bit on the small side but the taste and juiciness was exceptional! I didn’t even add any butter or lemon because it was so delicious. The shell was so soft and easy to crack. I grew up in Boston but have lived in France for 30+ years. Every time I travel back to Massachusetts to visit my father we go out for a few lobster meals. This was definitely a happy surprise and very memorable. I hope to come back!
Courtney G — Google review
It was my first time ever trying both lobster and fried clams. I was so excited to try a lobster roll, and seeing that I could get a "Fat Lobster" and get the best of both worlds, plus onion rings and coleslaw, my mind was made up! I was prepared to wait, knowing how esteemed this place is and how busy it can get. I arrived around five or six in the early evening on a Tuesday and it was not busy at all, so I got my food pretty quickly after I ordered! I enjoyed it outside, although there is also indoor seating, but it was a gorgeous day out. The "Fat Lobster" is a lobster roll with coleslaw topped with fried clams and onion rings that comes with a bit more coleslaw on the side. This sandwich was mindblowing! The lobster was so FRESH, perfectly dressed, and the fried clams were tender inside of the crispy breading. The onion rings were on the soggier side, but I didn't mind the texture considering how crispy the fried clams were. The prices were also amazing! I only paid around $50 with tip included for all this food! But if I lived around this area, I would be in trouble because I would want this at least three times a week! It was so delicious! I will dream about this lobster when I return to the suburbs away from the coast.

We had our first lobster and lobster roll in Massachusetts and it was delicious. It was a little dive kinda carry out, nothing fancy, but the food was good and counter service was just fine. We would definitely visit again when back up north.

Excellent lobster rolls, fried clams, fried oysters, fish and chips- clam chowder is good too. We sat outside and watched the storm roll over the water. The view is stunning.

Delicious fresh scallops!! Great service, great view. Sooo many scallops! I feel like there were over 30 fat, juicy, delicious scallops in here!!! This picture is taken after I ate about 5 already. I couldn’t wait! They were soooo good!!!
Charlene — Google review
Amazing food that is very busy place. Plan on waiting since it is a hot spot for all the locals and us Nebraska visitors stumbled across some great lobster rolls and onion rings. Recommend the avocado lobster roll!!
Debbie Z — Google review
Good lobster rolls, but definitely pricey especially considering the lobster meat comes from bags and isn't freshly picked. Wouldn't go out of our way to come here again, but would consider it if in the neighborhood.

Capri Seaside Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria is a stylish and warmly-lit restaurant that offers the comforting ambiance of cozy fireplaces. With weekend accordion music and a kids' menu, it's perfect for relaxation, socializing, and enjoying the delightful aromas and flavors of an authentic Italian family kitchen. Situated on Salisbury Beach, it provides a taste of Italy with its own parking lot for convenience.
Always delicious!!! We had charcuterie, chicken saltibucca, eggplant rollups, pulled pork sandwich, huge pork chop, salted caramels, and some yummy drinks. Matt was a great server. He was ruuning around.

My Wife and I went to the Capri Seaside Italian Kitchen for a date night. Our waitress Stacey was very friendly and accommodating. We started with a beverage, My wife had a Ruby Red Cosmo and I was driving soooo ginger ale. Stacey told us to relax, enjoy our drinks and take our time ordering. We took her advice and started with the white mussels. They came out excellent!! No grit all shells open with a fat mussel in each one! Nice light lemon garlic white wine sauce with crostinni on top. Also coming before the meal was a small basket of fresh bread w sun dried tomato dip..yummy!! For our main courses my wife had shrimp scampi w linguine. 6 huge well seasoned butterfly shrimp in a delicious garlic shallot lemon wine sauce. I had the veal francaise with a lemon white wine butter cream sauce over lemon parmesan risotto. It came with sauted broccolini. Both meals were excellently prepared. We were impressed with the quality of the ingredients, service and most importantly taste. Shrimp were tender. Risotto was creamy and smooth. My wife finished her meal.Stacey jokingly asked if she wanted a box for the 6 strands on linguine. I took home a nice piece of veal and some risotto. Saved room for dessert. They have a nice variety of cakes and Italian pastries. We chose a piece of tuxedo cake. It was a chocolate cake with milk chocolate frosting and some white thin lines of frosting in the layers, paired that with a nice cup of coffee. Dining experience was a little over 2 hours. Nice and relaxed. Bill came to $112 w25%tip so $140 soup to nuts Would highly recommend this restaurant and staff. They are Open Weds though Saturday4 to 9pm. Sunday 4 to 8 pm

Sat at the bar and had a very tasty dinner. The bread and sauce they gave us first was outstanding! Chicken parm was really good and my husband enjoyed his chicken piccata. I wanted to try the risotto, so got that instead of pasta with my meal; unfortunately, it was bland so I would not recommend it. The lemon chiffon cake was a perfect finish. Will definitely go again.

This restaurant was an unexpected delight. We were going to the Blue Ocean Music Hall for a performance that night and we made reservations for dinner at the restaurant which is right across the parking lot. Our performance was at 8 pm and we got reservations for 5:30 pm. The dining room was spacious and bright. That said, our meal was outstanding which included signature cocktails, appetizers, garden dinner salad, entrees and a homemade bread service that included and amazing cheesy marinara EVO concoction. My signature cocktail was the Berries and Cream Whoopie which had a mini lemon Whoopie pie garnish on the rim and very much tasted like dessert. We ordered the Burrata Caprese and Antipasto as appetizers and both were excellent. The Antipasto came with a perfect selection of cheese and meats and accompaniment which included fig jam and olives. My entree was the Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta which was cooked perfectly. The three of us were too full to try the desserts on display when you walk in but they look delicious as well. Our server, Emily was amazing and provided great descriptions and recommendations for our dining experience. This restaurant would be a great choice at any time and you need to go to the music hall to give it a try. I highly recommend it.

Capri Seaside Italian Grille remains my go to spot for great Italian food along the seacoast. The chicken parmigiana is always delicious, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. I often pair it with a side meatball and plain bread, which they are always happy to provide. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, great for couples or family dinners, and the service is consistently friendly and quick without feeling rushed. In our recent visit, after being away for a while, the taste and quality of the food were exactly as we remembered, excellent. Takeout service was fast, easy, and just as good as dining in. The parking situation can still be difficult during the summer since the lot is not always monitored and people use it for other nearby businesses, but that is a small drawback compared to the consistently great food and service year round. When I am in the mood for Italian, this is always the place I choose.
Thomas F — Google review
BEWARE ordering takeout. They try cutting corners and will purposely get your order wrong if you ask for substitutions. They forgot my bread as well as my side of sauce. I ordered two veal parms with sauce on side since I had a drive and did not want my food soggy. When I checked the bag there was no sauce to be found so I asked for two sides of sauce. I was giving two cups filled 1/3 of the way. My bread that I paid for was also forgotten and when I asked for some i was given three ripped up pieces. My veal is also burnt. I don’t know if they were angry about the substitutions or just too busy but if that is the case do not offer takeout. I order here often and won’t be back

They were on the busy side. We did have a reservation. Service was very slow. There were 3 in our party. Bolognese was delicious. Chicken parm was okay. Chicken on the chicken scampi was good. The scampi sauce was not good to me, not enough garlic and butter it was very heavy on the lemon. Cocktails were great and their desserts looked fabulous

Arrived for our reservation 5 minutes early and was promptly seated at a high top table right by the door. The waitress eventually showed up dropped the menus and left. She seemed rushed and didn’t explain any of the specials. The waitress returned and took our drink and meal order. The drinks showed up and we waited for our meals. Meanwhile another table was set up next to us, a couple was seated and promptly their waiter took their order they received drinks and bread. We were still waiting for our meals and never got any bread. Our food eventually showed up and we asked for some bread that showed up after we had our food dropped off. My wife ordered the prime rib and baked stuffed shrimp with a baked potato. Everything on her meal was excellent, perfectly cooked tasted delicious. I ordered the chicken parm with angel hair. It was ok at best, the chicken was awesome, most and tasty, perfectly cooked. The pasta was slightly overcooked but the issue was the sauce. It tasted like it came out of a can, literally a metallic taste. The waitress never came back to ask about our meals and I’m very disappointed with the sauce that did a disservice to the dish. Chicken parm is a basic staple and is hard to screw up but it is possible. In this case it did. This is the second time in a row I go to this restaurant and the meal or service are subpar. I’m not sure if I’m gonna drop another $175.00 on a subpar restaurant for a meal or service that is meh at best. Extra disappointing because the prior 8 times I have gone here and it was excellent. Not sure what has changed but it’s a gamble at best if you’re going to get a good meal and good service at the same time.

The Joy Nest is a charming diner in Newburyport that offers a unique dining experience. The ambiance is reminiscent of a 1920s supper club, with plush velvet couches, cozy fireplaces, and the soothing sounds of jazz music filling the air. The decor includes elegant chandeliers adorned with white feathers that add to the vintage atmosphere.
Omg! What an awesome place. I don't know where to start, if did not have reservations and showed up 1h before kitchen close buy they found me a table and gave exceptional service. My friend and I are both Vegan and they had few amazing options, we were really impressed. The mixed drinks were delicious. The place itself is cute, cozy, clean and the highlight was the live jazz band. Loved everything about it. Can't wait to go back

We had five appetizers and a main course. Of the appetizers, the beef bao bun and the shrimp and pork dumpling were our favorites, the shrimp in a fried skin was also good. The golden bags and the fresh rolls were disappointing, they would have been better with shrimp instead of chicken. I had a duck noodle soup which was very good but too much after all of the appetizers, next time just two appetizers. The service leaves much to be desired. There was no attempt at pacing, all of the appetizers came out at once and then they tried to bring out our main courses before we had even started the appetizers. The tables are tiny so there was no chance that everything could fit at the same time. They did remake our main courses when we were ready instead of serving us cold dishes so they did fix their mistake but it would have been better if they just paced the dishes.

This gem of a restaurant has been open for a year, but this was our first visit. We love The Tannery Marketplace setting and the welcoming reel of this district at night. Located right on Water Street, the lights and warm decor welcomed and we decided to give it a try. The decor is full of nooks and cozy touches in a glamorous speakeasy style decor. We were tucked into a corner, surrounded by pillows, with a view of the bar and dining room. Our server was friendly and professional and welcomed us to the restaurant as well as made suggestions every step of the way, ensuring a wonderful visit. We started with the Thai Lettuce Wraps which was a spicy herb chicken salad that we scooped into the stack of lettuce leaves. A very warming starting on a cool evening. We followed that with Kha - Nom - Jeep, round steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, served with a ginger sauce. Very flavorful. We then enjoyed bowls of Spicy Ramen with Chashu (homemade pork belly) and Guay Teow with Beef and Rice Noodles, all based on our server's recommendations. Both were incredibly tasty and the perfect layer of flavor combos. An incredible meal in an elegant, but relaxed setting, where a week night dinner out felt special. We both said that this place would be especially lovely and cozy on a snowy, winter night, looking out the windows onto the Tannery lights. I highly recommend this place and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Newburyport. This is a perfect romantic date night restaurant, but also a nice setting for small groups. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars

Love visiting The Joy Nest! Love the vibe & food. It's not cheap but the food is great, never had a bad dish

What a gorgeous place. Super well decorated and curated. It's cozy, inviting, colorful, restful yet fun. Service was friendly and well paced. But don't go fornthe food. Mango salad was terrible, salmon had been boiled w no seasoning to the point of being inedible. Noodle soup was tasteless and chicken in there chewy and flavorless. Neither of us could finish our dishes. Maybe they do great cocktails? The space is great but the food horrible.

The Kha-Nom-Jeep at Joy Nest in Newburyport is a must for dumpling lovers—perfectly steamed pork and shrimp wrapped in delicate skins, topped with scallions, and served with gingery dipping sauce. Pair it with a zero-proof Orchard Oriole for a sweet-spiced finish! 🥟🍹 #joynest #newburyporteats

Stopped in on the Friday afternoon of memorial weekend and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too busy. Was quickly seated on the comfy couches. The decor in the dining room immediately catches you eye with the bright colors, wood paneling pared with the exposed brick. Service was quick and the server was happy to jump in with recs if needed. They are known for their gin cocktails and man they don't disappoint. Went for the tapas. The pork skewers are to die for followed by the beef strip. Both were cooked to perfection. Just the right abt of char and meat so tender and flavorful. The shrimp and pork dumplings with them were immaculate as well. Veggie rolls were not memorable. Would definitely come back

First time at The Joy Nest and we will definitely be coming back! Truly excellent dining experience! Joy Nest has great food, great service, and great vibes. The decor is adorable and makes you feel so cozy. The cocktails were all delicious and well balanced. And the food was superb - very flavorful and great portions for the price. We got the Golden Bags and pork skewer tapas appetizers which both hit the spot. Then our party got the beef and broccoli, minced chicken, crispy Basil duck, and spicy ramen entrees. Everyone loved their meals. There was jazz music upstairs, we didn’t get the chance to see it but we could hear it and it sounded it lovely!

Seafood restaurant
Tuscan Sea Grill & Bar is a charming coastal restaurant located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. It offers a unique dining experience with a blend of Tuscan flavors and fresh seafood. The luxurious four-season deck overlooks the Merrimack River and is beautifully appointed with stylish furniture and comfortable couches. The deck features a clear roof and railings, providing great views from every seat. Inside, the cozy interior also offers similar vistas.
My wife and I have been coming here at least once a week since we moved to the area a few years ago, and we absolutely love it! The food is always fantastic, and the staff makes every visit feel special. The bartenders—Melissa, Josie, Dan, and Nick—are truly top-notch. They go above and beyond every time and create such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. And we have to shout out the $10 burger special on Wednesdays—easily the best deal in Newburyport! Delicious, high-quality, and an unbeatable price. It’s a weekly tradition for us!

The Tuscan sea grill has a beautiful location, especially the glass enclosed porch. It was rather noisy, and hard to hear the person talking across the table. The clam chowder was outstanding, rich and flavorful. Unfortunately, from there it went down hill. The fried calamari were okay, not the best and the worst. And then came the big disappointment of lobster flat bread. The dough was undercooked and soggy, the lobster dry and overcooked, the corn did not go with it in flavor. We both looked forward to trying out, and ordered one each. Without discussing it, we picked out the lobster meat and left the rest with the exception of the initial bite. Leaving most of the food on the plate is not something we do, but really that was the only option. It was that bad. The service was attentive, the location was beautiful, but the food was a disappointment.

Our second time in this place and it was so disappointing to learn that they’ve changed so much in a year or so. The changes for worse starts from the menu available choices to the quality of the food and service. The best wines we ordered they’re never available. The service didn’t deserve full tips. It’s was inattentive and careless. With so many other nice places around the corner you should consider visiting other restaurants when you around here just as we will. Not to forget, they’ve pushed us out very badly. We’re sitting in an 12+ tables area with two tables taken, around 10pm in the evening and still, we’re giving the bill without any ask. That’s rude!

Overall a great meal and good options. We did have a reservation so we’re seated quickly. It was a busy Saturday night but got our food in a timely manner.

My wife and I came here for our first anniversary and it was amazing. I made reservations and asked for a table with a view of the water, from past experiences at other restaurants I wasn’t expecting to get that.. but we did! They gave us a table with such a nice view it was really so nice. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I wish I remembered our servers name, she was awesome and helped us decide on our drinks. The food was beyond delicious. We got the calamari to start. The calamari with the red pepper and some of that sauce was just delicious. Then my wife got the grilled swordfish and I got the fish tacos. Her swordfish was honestly the best swordfish I’ve ever had! The fish tacos were also exceptional. I got the gin mixed drink and she got the sangria, both were fabulous in presentation and taste. All in all it was an amazing experience. We truly felt like they cared about their customers and their products and I think that makes all the difference. We weren’t alone in that feeling either, we happened to be seated next to a couple that was celebrating their 27th anniversary, when we found that out we got excited and chatted and our server even took pictures for us. Everyone was having such a good time it was refreshing. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a special night out. Only downside is the parking. We circled the lot for like 20-30 minutes before finding a spot so plan to get there early. Other than that it was truly fantastic. Thank you to the staff for giving us such a special night. We will definitely be back!

Don't be scared away by the 3/5 stars. It's worth reading through this review first, as you may go yourself and get that 5-star experience... We decided to come here on one of the nice rainy Saturdays we're sooo fortunate to have this season. I picked this one in Newburyport because it was my Fiancee birthday and i wanted her to have a little fancier of a lunch than normal. The restaurant was beautiful inside and had a really warm space on the deck with all the fireplaces. The service was top-notch and attentive right away. We started off with an incredible clam chowder. It was both rich and creamy as well as full of flavor and chunks of clams. After that, like other reviews here, it went a little sideways with the food. My fiancee had the fish tacos, which were surprisingly spicy. I had the Lobster Raviolo, and while, it had really nice chunks of lobster for the priced dish. It was a weird dish, to say the least. It was not what you'd expect for vodka sauce. It was a gritty and odd combination of flavors with corn and seemingly fake fishy filling in a giant raviolo. In my mind, I had hoped this place would've offered more for the Italian in me, but it didn't. Now I'm going to go off on a limb and say maybe it was just that dish and other food here is as good as the chowder. Try it for yourself first before writing this one off. Who knows, we may find ourselves back just for the chowder.

Definitely come here when you’re in Newburyport! Allyson was our server and she was friendly, personable and went above and beyond for us! They didn’t have honey mustard but that wasn’t a problem for Allyson. She took it upon herself to make some fresh honey mustard for me and it was delicious! Our food came out at just the right time and the presentation was amazing. She checked on us just the right amount of times where we could enjoy our meals and the view! We will definitely be coming back ◡̈ thank you Tuscan Sea Grille and Bar!

I’ve never had a bad meal here. My favorite is the cheese raviolis with meat sauce. However the last time we were here our waitress was not great! She took forever to bring out waters after we had already got the bread, I actually had to ask because I was so thirsty then she finally brought it out, ridiculous! While I was waiting for her to bring our water out I literally watched another table ask for water too and she brought it right out to them… before us… the table that was practically dying of thirst because we’ve already been eating bread she brought us for 15 minutes with no water. The creme brulee was delicious but the disappointing part was that it was probably the smallest portion i’ve ever seen served at a restaurant!

Our compliments to the chefs, and thank you all for your service 🫶😋

What a find! After a stressful day running errands in Newburyport, I wandered into Giuseppe’s for the first time and instantly felt better. A super friendly staff member welcomed me, gave me the lay of the land, and showed me their incredible market full Italian specialties including fresh pastas, sauces, heat and serve meals, deli meats, salads, cheeses, desserts, and wine. Seriously—it’s foodie heaven. I was torn on what to try from the take- out menu, but another staff member came to the rescue and recommended a pressed chicken arugula panini with apple, gorgonzola, and fig jam. While the food was being prepared, I shopped around and bought a little of this and a little of that. The staff were pleased that I enjoyed my time there. When I got home and bit into the sandwich....WOW!! Hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. And my family couldn’t have been happier with all the goodies I brought home! Giuseppe’s turned my stressful day into an amazing one. I can’t wait to go back and try even more next time!

Rib eye was amazing. I usually get the sushi because it is delicious and fresh but I decided to try something new and was not disappointed at all! They cooked it exactly to my liking (medium rare). Server was great for the most part. We let them know it was my friend’s birthday we were celebrating tonight. Waiter struggled to bring us our refills, they went missing a lot through out our dinner and made our visit almost over 2 hours. Not sure if he had too many tables or what. It was a Monday night and wasn’t that busy. He asked if we wanted dessert and we said no because we had plans to go back home and have dessert. Waiter acknowledged what we said and said he would bring us the check but he proceeded to bring a slice of cake with a candle in it. At first we thought this was a really nice gesture. We ended up eating it because we didn’t want it to go to waste and it was delicious. After 30 minutes we finally got our check and we notice the slice of cake was on the tab. It’s honestly ridiculous that he brought over something we did not ask for and proceed to charge us for it. We thought he was just trying to be nice. Not sure what kind of mistake this was but we didn’t even want to argue over it because we ate it and at this point we wanted to just get out of there as we had dessert plans with family at home.

Cute place, I like the decor and the atmosphere. The tables are a bit close together. I wish there was music or something but granted it was Labor Day. The drinks were great, very well made. We had the calamari for the table and it was really good, lightly battered and tasty sauce ( not spicy). I had the Caesar salad and it was not that good, pretty dry and didn’t have much dressing. The chicken was dry as well. Friends had the burger and salmon and they looked great. I would give them another try with an Entées next time. I had the mango Mojito and it was great. The sushi that my fiend had looked good too.

We came for lunch on a beautiful October day and sat on their street side patio. The server was attentive and friendly. We started with a crab and artichoke dip ($20) which was creamy and delicious. I’m not really an artichoke person, but I enjoyed this preparation. I also had a half beet salad ($10) and a chimichurri chicken sandwich ($20). The beet salad had four slices of beets in it, so it really should have been called an arugula salad. Also, I’m not sure where the chimichurri was on the chicken. It was covered in sort of a chipotle sauce, still good, but not what I was expecting We had a good meal and would return.

BLACK TEETH after eating here. My mother and I had the new scampi dish and my mother and I both ended up with black teeth! We were literally able to wipe it off after seeing it in the bathroom mirror. We spoke to the manager who spoke to the head chef who denied any responsibility and showed NO concern (despite me informing him that I had food allergies and undisclosed ingredients pose an extra risk to me.) I would not eat here because, in addition to this experience, my wine glass was filthy and the food was not good.

Oh gosh, another fab. and special meal for a birthday girl in July. Again as an app, we shared the two crab cakes. Again, OTW(out of this world.) The Fusilli Gambretto was generous, the smoked andouille made the sauce sing. The Vegetable Agnolotti was OK. Earlier in February and 60 deg. weather drew us into the Black Cow for lunch. Nice warm and inviting place and decor. We enjoyed the Blue and Bacon salads. A cup of clam chowder was good, from a base but with added cream and spice. The sautéed crab cake was exo, lotsa crab. Waitstaff gal was pleasant. With two wines and two Stella’s, just under a hundred bucks less tip. Bathrooms, clean as a whistle. Another lunch in October at BC with friends in a booth and our server was ‘Emma.’ The ‘Chowder Bowl’ was generous, rich, creamy. I can never resist their lump crab cakes and again, oh so good. A small side of ‘Texas salad’ was also good. The ‘Roast Mushroom’ was on a grilled panini with a small ramekin of sliced fried potatoes that everybody delved into. ‘Rodney Strong ‘Chardonnay’ complimented the meal. The finale that we shared, a 7-layer slice of ‘Chocolate Cake’ with a dollop of whipped cream on a bed of drizzled chocolate. Nirvana. We sure love Black Cow.

Just a short 50-minute drive away, Newburyport is our favorite spot for a weekend getaway. After a relaxing walk by the riverside, we love how easy it is to access Black Cow from the main parking lot. We’ve enjoyed dinner here many times, and this Sunday night was no exception. The atmosphere in the main dining area was perfect, blending views of the sunset and street lights. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The food never disappoints, with our go-to favorites being the signature burger, poke salad bowl, and sushi rolls.

After the tour, explore Newburyport's historic downtown with its charming restaurants and local shops.
Such a fun trip for me and my family!!! Saw many whales of different varieties, tho I know this can vary. Having a galley on board was huge! A nice little perk. Such a great tour, would absolutely do it again!

Had the most beautiful day out with Newburyport Whale Watch yesterday. We got to see humpbacks, a shark, seals, porpoises, rainbows…..what a trip! Our naturalist Kristin was incredibly knowledgeable, had so many wonderful stories to share, and I just loved how personable she was. Honestly, the whole entire crew was so welcoming and friendly. We were also lucky enough to get the opportunity to learn about the snotbot and all of the awesome work ocean alliance is doing out there. And as someone traveling early in the morning - I loved that they served breakfast. Had such a fun trip out and can’t wait to visit again!!!

Absolutely fantastic. 6 whales in one trip when I went, as well as some porpoises and a big school of fish. The ride wasn't that turbulent, the food was surprisingly good for it being cooked on a literal boat. Beer and spirits were also great, surprisingly selection of those as well. For a tourist boat, wouldn't say the food is overpriced. For the ticket price itself, 60 dollars is not overpriced at all in my opinion. That is an insane amount of value to see 6 whales in person (at least for me) for that price. Narration is great, the information is amazing and the staff truly know what they're doing. They even try to solve the problem of lot of people crowding to one side by turning the ship around so the other side also has an opportunity to see the whales. Great value, great staff, amd great whales sightseeing.

I took my 19 month old son and a friend. We had a blast. Thank you all so much! It is informative, they told us what they are looking for in the distance so everyone on the boat was looking for the whales. They can tell you the name of the whales you see. All in all it was a great trip. My son slept the first half and then enjoyed the second half and he and I shared a burger from the café. I am absolutely going to go again.

I had family who came to visit Massachusetts for the first time (they're from Toronto) and had expressed interest in going whale watching, which is something I haven't done since I was a kid. I was worried there wouldn't be enough tickets for all of us (esp on Labor Day weekend) but lo and behold!! THERE WAS and I'm so glad we got to go with Newburyport Whale Watch. Major shout out to Kaylee who was so hospitable, hilarious, and makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. We were so fortunate to be able to see 3 humpback whales, which felt incredibly magical. Thank you so much!! My family had a blast!!

We had a great time! The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We saw 4 humpback whales, 2 small pods of dolphins, a tuna that jumped out of the water, as well as several other fish. We also saw seals on the rocks and a small shark fin by some lobster traps. It was definitely memorable and we will be back next season!

Had a great time watching all the whales. We got lucky that multiple whales came in pairs and had beautiful dives that looked amazingly beautiful. The staffs were very friendly and knowledgeable, we even had small group Q&A on the way back. Highly recommended experience.

I’ve been coming here for over 40 years. I made many memories with my late father & now it’s my turn to carry on his legacy! It’s always a wonderful time. We rise real early, get breakfast at Charlie’s Diner getting to the boat 1/2hr prior to boarding for a good seat. If we don’t see much, the staff still provides that warm family feel making for an escape from all the lands noise. If I could afford to come every year, I would. This place has grown in so many positive ways keeping me on my toes waiting to make another memory with the ocean. Thank you friends! 🐋

I just left Agave, and I have to say, this was probably the worst Mexican food I’ve had in ages. I ordered three tacos with rice and beans, and what I got was shocking. The tacos came out with steak and cheese—cold cheese on a cold tortilla. That’s it. No cilantro, no onion, just the blandest, most tasteless tacos I’ve ever eaten. I managed to take two bites before I couldn’t take any more. When the bartender asked if I wanted to wrap it up, I said no and just asked for the bill. My friend felt the same way and sent theirs back too. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, skip Agave and head to Porta Vida instead. The food there is amazing, and the drinks are top-notch. It’s a shame how quickly things have gone downhill at Agave.

We arrived and were standing at the host stand for no more and 10 seconds before a waitress was pushing in between us to get through the door. She used a menu in front of her to basically part us like a bouncer at a club and never uttered an “excuse me” or even acknowledged us… It was a very odd first impression. We had to wait a bit for an outdoor table so we gave our number and walked down the street to some shops, grabbing a tea from another spot. We received the text that our table was ready, went back, a hostess seated us and we were immediately and aggressively approached by what we presumed to be a manager (before our butts even hit our chairs) to tell us to place the tea on the ground as to not display it on the table. This was off putting once again but we continued on looking at the menu, which we now regret. I understand not wanting to advertise another business or bring in outside food / drink, but in an extremely touristy downtown this just felt a bit unnecessary. EVERYONE is walking around with coffees and teas. The waitress then approached and asked us (and all tables in ear shot) “would you like chips and salsa?” We answer “yes” as pretty much every Mexican restaurant includes this, to later find out it’s a $6 charge. I hate restaurants that try to trick you like this - especially at a place where a plate of chicken nachos is $30. Then we got our chicken tacos to split as we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible without going into debt. The chicken was boiled and not seasoned and a sad excuse for Mexican food. We were immediately turned off by the appearance and the flavor was horrific and bland. Water was literally pouring onto the plate as we tried to eat them. Also, we found it to be very strange that many dishes that included steak or avocados did not list prices, and instead referenced “market price.” This seemed like a sketchy way to price gouge tourists on really whatever they wanted. I must assume that the positive reviews are paid actors or influencers as I’m not sure that a good experience here is possible.

First off I have zero complaints about the service. I’ve been here a number of times and have always had great servers willing to bend over backwards. Also the outdoor seating the last couple of years has been nice, and I love they accommodate my dog. But the food is…mediocre. Or has been three visits in a row now. It looks very pretty but is essentially flavorless to me. I love good authentic Mexican food. This doesn’t seem to be that. Idk what’s misfiring in the back of the house but the food is under seasoned and honestly just doesn’t seem “fresh”. Honestly, it seems like it comes from a meal kit. I hate doing reviews like this but I want this place to be better than it actually is right now. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Good place in an area full of restaurants, food is above average with very big portions. Price is on the high side, I wish they would reduce portions and prices. But I was disappointed when they charged extra for extra sour cream with the nachos. The food was expensive to start with, and one would expect sour cream to be included. Also, they have outside seating, but we prefer indoor Air Conditioned spaces. They did not have the AC on, and it was uncomfortably hot in the dining room.

Agave in Newburyport holds a special place as one of my favorite Mexican spots in the area! It's the perfect place for a satisfying, authentic meal, though you might need to build a little extra time into your visit. The Food: Absolutely Delicious The food here is consistently excellent. My personal favorites are: Guacamole: It's fresh, perfectly seasoned, and a must-order appetizer. I could honestly just eat a bowl of this! Fish Tacos: These are prepared, with a great balance of flavor and texture. Carne Asada: A fantastic, flavorful main course. The meat is always tender and well-cooked. Service Note While the cuisine is top-notch, the service can be slow, especially during busy times. It's something to be aware of if you are in a rush. If you're planning a relaxed evening out, however, it's worth the wait for the delicious food. Overall: If you love fantastic Mexican food, Agave is a definite must-try in Newburyport. Just be prepared to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere!

Agave is a small quaint Mexican bistro hidden on state st in downtown Newburyport. Comfortable setting and delightful menu. I opted for the street tacos that were absolutely phenomenal. Alongside the tacos I ordered a grilled Cesar salad with grilled veggies on top! My goodness that was one of the best salads I have EVER eaten. I highly recommend this venue if you’re a foodie like myself. Fresh ingredients that are well put together is a win win. The service is a little slow which is why I am unable to give the final star. However the satisfaction of this visit was undeniable! tDon’t take my word for it go and see for yourself!

This restaurant is amazing! We enjoyed our first date night since having our baby. The food and drinks were great. Our waitress was so sweet and all the staff were super accommodating. The Carne asada is AMAZING! We can never find Carne asada that meets our standards and this definitely HAS! The nachos were amazing as well. We will definitely return! Thank you for giving us such a great night out!

Pizza restaurant
Anchor Stone Deck Pizza is a family-friendly pizzeria located on State Street in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The restaurant is part of the city's new parklets initiative, offering outdoor dining options for patrons to enjoy their inventive pies and oven-roasted sandwiches in a simple setting. In addition to delicious pizzas with crispy crusts and great sauce, Anchor Stone Deck Pizza also provides the option to pair your meal with a glass of wine or beer.
I have always loved Anchor, great food, great service, great location. The pizza is one of my favorites in the area. Yesterday I went in for lunch with a friend of mine who has autism. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. Everyone was very helpful, accommodating and kind. It was really nice for us to enjoy some pizza together in such a welcoming, warm and accepting environment. Thank you Anchor Pizza!

My friends and I come up to Newburyport every summer. This year we tried Anchor Stone Deck Pizza. It was fabulous. I had the chicken parm sandwich, with fresh pesto and the most tender chicken. The bread was warm and oooh so good. My friends had the Buffalo chicken canzone which was large and she loved it. My other friends had a huge Ceasars salad and a slice of spinach, squash and mozzarella pizza. Also fresh and delicious. We will definitely make this a stop every year!

We stopped in early evening for pizza with our little crew—my young kids, mom, sister, and nieces—and had such a great experience! The atmosphere was welcoming from the moment we walked in, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed, even with our big group. The pizza was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked with great flavor—and enjoyed by everyone at the table (even the picky eaters!). It’s not always easy to find a spot that works for the whole family, but this place was great. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited yesterday. We ordered their cheese pizza and added chicken/mushroom. Wow! The best thin crust pizza I’ve ever had and I’m from the Merrimack Valley. The ingredients were fresh and the pizza was cooked perfectly. I would get this pizza all the time if I lived closer. We also had their Cobb salad which was good! Two things: there wasn’t enough mushrooms- not even close. Very sparse. There are two picnic tables outside but if they added smaller tables it would allow more people to enjoy their food outdoors.

My boyfriend and I recently visited Newburyport, MA. After an almost 4 hour drive and checking into our hotel, we were hungry. A block down the street from our hotel was the Anchor Pizzeria. As soon as we walked in, the aroma was mouth watering awesome! We each ordered a slice that equal to 2 slices in size. It was thin, crisp, tantalizing and heavenly in your mouth! This pizza equals to or is better than any top pizzeria In New Haven, CT. We should know, we live near New Haven. We applaud the young people who create their own dough, pizzas, calzones, stuffed breads and awesome meatballs among many other delicious items! Plan on visiting Anchor Pizzeria in Newburyport, MA You will not be disappointed ....... You'll be amazed!!!!

If you enjoy pizza with toilet paper thin crust, then this is your go to place. Just paid almost $30 for a small pizza with 4 toppings that was the same size as a frozen pizza. And the cheese counted as one of the toppings. At least the dough and sauce were included. They obviously prey on visitors and gullible locals to stay in business.

We just moved to the area and have probably ordered from here 5 times in the first month. Definitely our new go-to pizza place. Always great quality food and quick service. Update: Three years later and it’s still our go to pizza. Super fast delivery and such good quality!

The pizza was really good, we all enjoyed it a lot. We had just come back from the beach and 2 pizzas for the 4 teenagers was just enough. Definitely would recommend.

Port City Sandwich Co. is a laid-back eatery in Newburyport, known for its breakfast offerings, sandwiches, soups, and baked treats. It's a popular lunch spot with a focus on crafting delicious comfort food like sandwiches and salads. The 'Keto Salad' is highly recommended and can be ordered online with various dressing options available. The establishment also offers wraps and chili with a kick. Despite the packed atmosphere, there's a convenient pick-up line for orders.
My office got one of many last-minute lunch catering orders from Port City today and it's about time I let you all know how much we love this place. We get the BEST service, and these aren't your run of the mill cold cut sandwiches. The bread is fresh and so good! The cold cuts are excellent. The presentation is exactly what you need for a quick work lunch for a large group. I'm also a big fan of their Caesar dressing. It's a good consistency, not the really thick kind. They are always happy to accommodate us, and everyone has been talking about how good lunch was. Great local business all around.

What a great place! Stumbled across this the other day - staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. Food was tremendous and plenty of it. Such a good feeling to find these gems!

No nonsense, quick serve sandwiches. The selection is wonderful, and everything we had tasted great. No fountain drinks, just drinks from the cooler. It's pretty small with about 8 tables in the place but in good weather lots of places to eat outside if you take to go. Good place to get a quick bite in the center of Newburyport.

First of all, Tyke is a true chef and runs a tight and professional ship. He is very serious and passionate about his work. It is a wonderful family business atmosphere but even more than that. Secondly, they have an award winning sweet but spicy turkey chili that is out of this world. It’s so good in fact that I just shared with him for the first time it was the only food I could eat during my pregnancy! So basically long story short I recommend highly to try his food! His turkey chili practically saved my child’s life during my pregnancy! Only thing I could hold down and wouldn’t throw it up! lol

This is my third time here and everything is great as usual. Had the steak bomb before and was fantastic, but it seems to be a daily special item. Wish they could bring it back. We had the wraps this time and they were all filled with fresh and delicious ingredients. Highly recommend this place!

Got their "Keto Salad" & it was DELICIOUS. I couldn't even eat it all so I ate half for lunch and had the rest with dinner. I ordered online through their website. There were lots of dressing options as well. It's always packed in there but they do have a pick up line so that was awesome! I've had wraps here before that were really good. Their chili definitely has a kick to it but it's great to get rid of that stuffy nose. Parking can be tricky here though but not impossible to find a spot. I will be returning to try more!

Everything about our visit was refreshing and absolutely amazing. The food was super tasty — full of flavor and made just right. The atmosphere was perfect, and we felt so comfortable and welcomed from the moment we walked in. Huge shoutout to our server, Taylor — funny, personable, and such a joy to have at our table. They really made our first experience unforgettable. We’re definitely coming back — we love it here already!

The food was great, decently budget friendly if you are traveling, and the lobster rolls are fantastic. Very interesting combo of western seafood and oriental dishes like sushi. Calamari was amazing as well, lobster roll well balanced and buttered, and the sushi was amazing. The food was also very fresh. Would highly recommend you go if you visit Maine.

We’ve been here twice now and both times the food was excellent. The first time we ate a meal here was for an early dinner on a quiet day during the week. It was super nice outside and we asked to sit out back. They have two outdoor seating areas, one out front and one in the back overlooking the water. The view was lovely. The place wasn’t packed and we didn’t have to wait for anything. Anyway, this place has a massive menu. Besides the regular menu, they have a whole specials menu each day. (See pics for menu.) We ordered fried calamari Italian style and they were so fresh and delicious. You get used to places over frying calamari, so that was a huge winner. For the main course, I ordered the specials blackberry bbq sauce baby back ribs. They were so good! They served them with yucca fries, which I love. I wish it was a regular menu item. My husband had the haddock with crab cake crust on potatoes. It was delicious. I loved it so much, the next time we visited, that’s what I ordered. During our first visit, we kept seeing these beautiful sushi dishes delivered to other tables, so we got some of that the next visit. It was good too. My kids had the chicken skewers that came with an island sauce and the baked scallops. The chicken was tasty and not overcooked. And the scallops were baked perfectly and still tender. Overall, we were really happy with all the dishes served to us both times. The people that work here are all super nice, and the service was excellent both visits. Prices are on the higher side and portions aren’t super large. Be sure to ask for market prices if that’s something you’re concerned about. The restaurant is noisy. I don’t know why that is, but even without being packed, it was. The place is kid friendly and they do have a menu specifically tailored to them. We parked in the lot next door and walked behind the restaurant. They charge during the day, but it’s not much. Otherwise you can find parking on the street if it’s not a busy day. I see there are a few mixed reviews on here, but I would confidently suggest you visit this place and try them out for yourself. (If the restaurant reads this, please consider that blackberry baby back bbq ribs special permanently 🤞🏻 It was soooo good.)

We stopped by on Sunday just past 7PM. The wait time for seats outside on the terrace facing the park side was 20+ minutes. We decided to seat on the bar while waiting for a table. Ordered couple IPA beers. The bill was $20 for not so big 2 glasses of beer. Table was ready in about 30 minutes. Food choices were plenty, however there were some items not available for the day. Appetizers arrived quickly and were delicious. Main course meals were also great tasting and portions size were good. Tables and chairs were not matching the price list though. They felt uncomfortable and table were crammed to fit more, but when people were getting sited on the table behind they bumped into us. We ended up spending about $40 per person.

Sea Level exceeded expectations in the sushi roll department. Delicious and filling to the belly, all amid celebrations in the city that fed the need for community. The little tubes in the sushi are their house sauces to try. The only wish was for more beets in the beet salad and to catch a few pieces of lettuce that weren't at their best.

We try to make it back to Newburyport every year, and our favorite restaurant is always Sea Level. When you visit more than once, the staff recognizes you and greets you like an old friend. The service is consistently warm and friendly, and the food never disappoints. On our most recent trip, we tried a special sushi roll that was absolutely to die for, topped with baked scallops and crab, pure perfection. The lobster-stuffed ravioli was also fantastic. We can’t wait to come back!

Perfect lunch spot when visiting historic downtown Newburyport. Plenty of outside seating, ice water out for doggies, delicious overstuffed fresh lobster roll worth it @ MP $40, comes with house made potato chips and Cole slaw. Stroll the brick lined streets afterwards and don’t miss the riverfront walk with lots of boats and great people watching. Worth a day trip from Boston, or drop in on your way home from Maine.

Elizabeth was the best thing that ever happened to me. Me and my college roommate had a delicious meal and sweet Elizabeth was our waitress. Antique store in a huge barn on the historic waterfront in Newburyport. Dozens of individual vendors are represented but there is one checkout station. They have a no haggling policy but their prices are decent. They have glassware, posters, tools, magazines, decorative items, silverware, furniture, clothing, and many other things. Usually pretty busy on the weekend and lots of people in line to buy.

Very fun place to walk around, definitely some unique and interesting things in there. However, not everything's an antique really - I picked up a vintage-looking padlock only to later discover it's just a cheap thing you can pick up online for less. I'd always rather support a local shop than an online store, but something about just reselling stuff you can find on Amazon for a few dollars more feels 'off' when it's in an antique shop
Nick B — Google review
I've never been one for antique shopping, but this place brought back so many memories. I know some antique shops are built for bargaining, but this isn't the place. This store has some seriously old and hard to find items. Product like that tends to come with a "decent" price, so be aware. It's not a garage sale. I was quite impressed with the selection and wish I had kept a few of my old pieces to sell. Even if you're not going to shop, consider this a fun trip down memory lane.

Had a blast in this place, but I was also with impeccable company. Lots of fun stuff to look at and purchase at reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and ran with my terrible jokes. I bought a turquoise and silver necklace as well as a lighthouse napkin holder for a friend. I wear the necklace at least 3 times a week, so unique. My friend bought a funky ring and we are now writing a little story about it.

I've visited twice and I enjoyed browsing and having sticker shock 😲. I found a few items that caught my attention and wallet. Antiques, collectables, ornaments, books 📚, ⏺️ records, glassware, ECT, both new and old items. I even found an unopened 8 track cassette. My daughter liked it, my son was indifferent 😐 and my friend, she isn't into "old things". My experience with the associates who handled my transactions were friendly. I was told they will be open in the winter 🥶 until they can't take the cold anymore. There is a parking 🅿️ lot next door. Stop 🛑 by and see what you think 🤔. It's worth a look.

Huge Barn Full of Antiques! It was bustling with activity Sunday. Families shopping together, grandkids asking their grandparents what things are. You really could spend hours just looking at everything, and many do... It's almost a Museum Americana: Figurines, furniture, memorabilia, clothes, art, toys, any antique you could imagine, is here... Service is friendly and kind. When I apologized for not buying more, the man at the door said, "But did you have fun?" Yes yes! Absolutely :)

Nestled in the charming town of Newburyport, MA, Abraham's Bagels is a must-visit casual café that specializes in mouthwatering bagel sandwiches, flavored cream cheeses, and fresh salads. This culinary hotspot not only excels at crafting delicious bagels but also serves up delightful brick oven pizzas and an array of sandwiches made with top-quality breads. The inviting outdoor seating area enhances your dining experience, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch while soaking up the local atmosphere.
I enjoy visiting in Newburyport when I have the chance before or after work. Today I was in town early enough to stop at Abraham's for breakfast. If you're like me and love poppy seed bagels, you know they're hard to find. This is one of the two places I know of that have amazing fresh poppy seed bagels. The outdoor seating was so nice and quaint and quiet this early in the morning. What a wonderful start to my Wednesday.

Bagels are extremely good! I got them on the Too Good To Go app (basically a surprise bag of bagels that didn’t sell at the end of the day) he gave me a giant bag of 20 bagels of all sorts. They’re soft and chewy, delicious. Everything a bagel should be! Thank you! I love the bagels and we’ll be enjoying them for a while!

I love these bagels more than any fancy bagels I’ve ever had in nyc. They are as fresh as it gets and the cream cheese you could eat with a spoon. So happy this place is down the road from me ! Also the staff is wonderful and it’s super clean.

A decent bagel shop. I'm not over the moon about their bagels, but I keep going back so I like it well enough. They are nice and light on the inside, as for the outside I personally want it to be a little crisper/firmer than they currently make them. The contrast between the inside and outside is too close for me. I also am not a huge fan of their breakfast sandwiches which I know is an unpopular opinion around here. Too often I have found it to be dry, particularly the egg, the whole sandwich comes not that warm even when I ask to heat it up, and the cheese is never melted. I like to stick to the standard bagel and cream cheese. The prices have unfortunately went up, especially on the cream cheese so I'd recommend using your own whipped cream cheese from the grocery store. Then you get the good bagel experience with a similar and cost effective cream cheese. It's still a good place to grab breakfast whether on the go or eating on their patio. You can expect a decent line on the weekends, but everyone who works there is nice and they move everyone in and out quickly.

I’ve gone to Abe’s many times over the years and I haven’t had a problem in the past. I didn’t want to have to write a review but honestly I feel like I have to at this point. Today I ordered a lox bagel, for almost 18 dollars. No problem with the price but if you’re going to charge people that much then you should probably make sure it’s a decent sandwich. It’s supposed to come with salmon, cream cheese, tomato, onions. No tomatoes came on the sandwich and the onions had either gone bad or were so pickled and bitter that it left a vile taste in my throat and I had to pick them all off. The salmon had gray areas and a weird texture which tells me that it had started to go bad. It’s just disappointing to get a sandwich that is so bad after paying so much money for it so please don’t waste your money on the lox bagel.

Good Service, Good Bagels, I tried the blueberry muffins and they are not very good. They use the small blueberries, and got most of the hard parts right, there is no salt of vanilla in the muffin, and so it comes out very bland.

Oregano Pizzeria & Ristorante has been a culinary staple in Newburyport for over 11 years, offering a delightful blend of Italian and Lebanese cuisine. The restaurant is known for its gourmet pizzas with thin crusts that have gained widespread acclaim. Situated on the pedestrian-only Inn Street, the restaurant provides a charming dining experience with sidewalk seating surrounded by lush greenery.
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who’s familiar with this area and they did not disappoint! Took a seat at the bar and enjoyed the most delicious Paloma sunrise I’ve had in a while, bar staff was accommodating and friendly, it was a busier night but I even had the pleasure of speaking with the bar manager who made sure our needs were met, our drinks were as expected and our food was as we ordered. We ended up ordering a pizza which was an absolute dream to pair with our drinks and even took some home! Overall wonderful experience and will be returning next time we visit the area❤️

The service was just okay. I ordered the lobster carbonara and my friend had linguini with meatballs. She thought the sauce was too runny but I thought it was perfect. The lobster carbonara was terrible. The menu stated it had pork belly which was fine, but it was just all fat. There was corn in it, which I thought very odd. The pasta wasn’t cooked through and the lobster was very small broken apart and shredded pieces. The sauce would have been tasty except for the amount of salt in it. There was so much I couldn’t taste the flavor of the dish. Then there was a poached egg on top, which was also odd, though that was mentioned in the menu description. I won’t go back; it was just gross.

A thoroughly enjoyed experience. Not many customers as there are plenty of options to choose from that street. Hostess (Shelia if I'm not mistaken) was very nice and helpful with recommendations. My little lady enjoyed her meal and loved her side salad so much that she just had to order one to go. The pizza was thin but full of flavor. If I'm ever in the area, I'd definitely be back for more.

This was, without exception, the worst chicken piccata I have ever had. Look at the picture, these little balls of plain fried chicken was, I guess, the chicken for the dish. Even that was over cooked, the sauce was disgusting as well. My wife got mushroom risotto that didn't come with mushrooms. They brought her a side. Lol. The kids pizza and kids spaghetti and meatballs were fine says my 7 and 8 year old.

I was there on Sunday & it seemed to be very busy, the staff was super accommodating and sweet. I had the Oregano pizza and it was by far one of the best pizzas i’ve ever had! I will be back soon!!!!! Awesome place

Oregano pizzeria & ristorante Newburyport MA Great downtown location with a comfortable atmosphere. I made reservations for St Patrick day for dinner because I expected the restaurant to be busy. The menu is good and a food is very tasty! You can choose from many delicious wine. The wait staff was very polite and knowledgeable. I loved the gluten free pizza. It is hard to find such a great gluten pizza! I was planning to take home half of it but I couldn’t stop eating haha. Don’t go to this restaurant if you are on a diet because you end up cheating on yourself. We had a fantastic dinner and a very good time! I know that the restaurant supports local schools and sport groups. I appreciate businesses who gives back to the community! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Restaurant
Loretta is an upscale American restaurant in Newburyport, offering a warm and casual-chic dining experience. The menu features a variety of dishes such as pulled pork, steak, and pasta. The restaurant is part of the city's outdoor dining options with newly unveiled parklets on Pleasant and State streets, providing a more permanent way for everyone to enjoy outdoor dining in the spring and summer. This initiative aims to support local businesses recovering from the challenges of the pandemic.
I absolutely loved my dinner at Loretta’s Restaurant in downtown Newburyport! The location is convenient, with a large parking lot nearby and plenty of street parking available. Despite the restaurant being very busy, they quickly set up additional tables to accommodate guests, which was impressive. The staff was exceptional—super fast, attentive, and highly professional, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely incredible, with bold flavors and generous portion sizes. I especially appreciated that they clearly label gluten-free options on the menu, making it easy for those with dietary restrictions to find something delicious. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Loretta’s. The warm atmosphere, outstanding service, and phenomenal food make it a must-visit spot in Newburyport. I highly recommend it!

This restaurant really cares about hospitality. And quality food. The proprietor I was on site. He was pleasant and accommodating to the guests. Server was nice, efficient and attentive. We celebrated Father's Day and the experience made us all feel special.

I feel a little funny about raving about the sweet potato fries, but I’ve never had anything like these! I had the French dip special today, which is an amazing sandwich. But this is my first time ever having their sweet potato fries. They are hand-cut dredged in cornmeal (so gluten-free) and honestly the best Sweet potato fries I’ve ever had! Bonnie at the Bar was so friendly, and the Staff and food here is always SpotOn! There are many reasons why Loretta’s remains one of the great NBPT restaurant institution! Make sure you add this place to your rotation!

We were passing through for the day and came across this quaint little restaurant. We didn’t have reservations and were able to snag an outside table on the sidewalk…perfect for taking in the town and people watching during the yankee festival. I had the swordfish piccata special, and my husband had the lobster scampi, which had homemade pasta. Both were wonderful, as was Stephanie. We would recommend this little joint to all our friends and family

Superb restaurant!! Although crowded they had our table ready within 15 min of the reservation (which you really need to make). Shared a Tuscan bean and sausage soup which my wife said was better than hers! We each got the swordfish special, great quality and amount for your $$. This is on our list to go to again when we are in the area!!

Located in Newburyport, The Poynt is a stylish restaurant offering small plates and seasonal cocktails. With a patio and TVs at the bar, it's a great spot for lunch or dinner. The menu features elevated takes on classic American cuisine, including wood-fired pizza, steak frites, and fish tacos. Brunch is also a highlight with offerings like breakfast pizza, breakfast nachos, and a customizable Bloody Mary bar.
Lovely place for a date night! We enjoyed the patio seating, generous wine pours and oh so delicious food. My favorite was the dumplings appetizer, and the scallop with risotto entree was pretty great too. My husband enjoyed his lobster pasta. The service was prompt but didn't check in on us too much, which was much appreciated. The chocolate torte for dessert was the bomb!

Went on a Friday evening for dinner. Indoor seating was full but plenty of seating outdoors in a beautiful evening. Service was excellent and food was all fresh and tasty. Loved the appetizers and variety. Dessert was a bonus. Donuts had small slices of apple. Huge serving so definitely meant to be shared. We rolled out happy and full. 😋

Oof, this was rough. We had high expectations but left disappointed. Service was great, ambiance is lovely but food was not good. Ordered the kung pao roll, burger medium rare, and had hoped to split the chicken bacon pizza with my son but when we asked if they would just do half of it bacon only the server asked the chef who refused…so pretentious and lame. So instead we ordered the cheese pizza and I ordered the steak dumplings. The roll was fine enough, nothing special. Cheese pizza came out quick and was decent. The burger was overcooked and dry and for some reason they decided to put the thickest slice of onion on it, completely unappetizing. The tomato was also super thick and mushy. The steak dumplings were so basic it reminded me of Applebees and the side salad they served with it was all mushy and tasted old. Really bummed as this place seems like a great location but food def needs refining and the chef really shouldn’t refuse basic requests that are completely reasonable.

Exceptional all around. All the staff was lovely. Our server was so sweet and gave stellar service. Everything, from the meatballs and tuna poke apps, short rib, were so good and fresh. The kids meals were generous portions, not tiny and just thrown together for kids. The food all came out hot and dessert (s'mores pizza & apple cider donuts) were fantastic. Would love to return next time we're in the area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Held our rehearsal dinner at the Poynt last weekend. Group of 23. We had the Summer Room reserved. For our party, the venue had us pick a set number of items from the menu for our guest's choices. All were fantastic and plentiful. Service was top notch (had a major drink spill, and it was cleaned up within minutes. Highly recommend for a group function. It was fixed price for Apps, main course, salad, and dessert. Drinks were on consumption. They accommodated a vegan guest with a special dish.

First time visiting this restaurant and will definitely return. Went on a summer Sunday morning at 11:30, no line, ordered bloody Mary’s at the bar while we waited for friends. The bloodies came with a large pimento olive, a lemon wedge and celery stick. Sat outside on the porch in the shade. Ordered their cider donut starter which is a donut lovers dream. 6 donuts the size of meatballs served with whipped cream and a glaze. Omg. Service was efficient. All 3 meals were excellent.

American restaurant
The Grog Restaurant is a cozy, 2-story pub located in Newburyport, MA. It has a warm ambiance with dark wood interiors and offers an extensive menu of comfort food along with 32 beers on tap. The restaurant has been a local favorite for over 50 years and continues to evolve by offering gluten-free options and a rotating selection of craft beers. Whether you're craving classic pub fare or looking for live music and events, The Grog is the place to be.
I had a wonderful dinner here! I ordered the clam chowder to start; it was tasty! I was surprised that it had an orange hue rather than the creamy white color I was expecting. I wonder if it's from the seasonings they use. It doesn't matter, because it was great and the clams were nice and tender. I ordered the "OG Grog" cocktail, which seemed like a fun spin on a classic Old Fashioned. I wish it was in a smaller cup with less ice, because I'm a slow drinker, but I enjoyed it! I had the Silva Burger---and I see why this place is famous for their burger patties. I don't know if I've ever had a burger patty cooked to such perfection before. Usually I stay away from ordering burgers, because nobody seems to understand what "medium" means. They either cook it too much and it's tough and chewy, or they cook it too little and it's too pink and slimy. But The Grog knows a good medium burger. The meat was juicy and flavorful. Paired with the soft potato bun it was just pure chef's kiss. The thick-cut steak fries were really good too. The special was strawberry rhubarb pie with strawberry icecream, so I ordered that for dessert. I'm going to have dreams about this rhubarb pie. It was so phenomenal! The strawberry was thick and sweet. The ice cream was rich and creamy. The whipped cream added a nice balance to the dish. The whole plate was truly heavenly! And lastly, my server was very kind, which I really appreciated, and that helped make my night super special.

This menu has a little bit of every type of food which was surprising. Their beer menu is varied as well. Light tasting oysters, good dumplings, a nice special menu, and their burgers were bigger than I expected. Cooked to order perfectly. Good food experience. The restaurant is pretty massive as well.

We ordered burger with fries, salmon, and fish and chips. Fries there felt fresh, no salt on it but enough for us, burger was great, so juicy, salmon was also nice, and fish & chips is just as what it is. If i had just an hour for lunch, I wouldn’t come here because waiting time after we ordered was more than 35 min and waitresses never came back to the table. So I had to walk to the counter to order drinks and she brought it 10 minutes later. Maybe waitresses and chefs there are new.

My daughter wanted mac and cheese 🧀 for lunch and I wanted to visit Newburyport again. I liked the interior though the booth we sat at haf a torn cushion. Kudos to the staff to let us move to the half of the restaurant where the WiFi worked. Thanks 👍! I had the French Onion 🧅 Soup 🍲, which was good, and my daughter had the kid's Mac and Cheese 🧀 with a side of broccoli 🥦. I thought I would have to convince my daughter, like George H W Bush, to eat the broccoli. I think she liked the buttery taste and ate it quickly. I tried the mac and cheese and I thought it tasted good. My daughter devoured it! I was offered a refill on my unsweetened iced tea with lemon 🍋. But something happened with our server. She was friendly when we entered but when we finished our food, she stopped smiling and seemed a little cold. Prices are reasonable for Newburyport. Music 🎵 was played at a good volume. I recommend a visit.

Nestled just outside Newburyport, Maudslay State Park is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This expansive park, once an estate, boasts a stunning array of floral diversity and towering trees, including one of Massachusetts' largest stands of mountain laurel. Visitors can meander through miles of winding trails and carriage roads that lead to picturesque gardens and the remnants of historic stone structures.
We visited on Saturday, August 31, and found parking easily (paid lot). This park has become one of my favorites. It’s clean, stunning, and well-maintained, with the added benefit of requiring dogs to be leashed, which we really appreciate since our puppies don’t get along with other dogs. We took a bit of a risk and made our way to the shore—definitely be careful, as a slip could be dangerous—but it was worth it to sit by the water. I highly recommend this park! Bathrooms are available at the parking lot and were clean.

Love this park! Mass residents only pay $5 parking here. I took my mother for a Mother’s day picnic/hike on a trail and im so glad i did!! The grounds are absolutely stunning with all diff kinds of species of birds and all diff kinds of flowers in bloom. Such a beautiful relaxing day with amazing views We also got to see some horses on the trail. Deff would come here again💯☺️💞

Maudslay State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The park's expansive trails wind through lush woodlands, offering breathtaking views of the Merrimack River. Wildlife enthusiasts will be thrilled by the abundance of birds, hawks, and deer. The park's meadows are home to a variety of wildflowers, making it a haven for photographers. In the spring, the blooming rhododendrons and azaleas are a must-see. Whether you're hiking, picnicking, or just taking in the serene environment, Maudslay is the perfect escape into nature.

Beautiful forested park, restrooms, picnic tables, easy walking, lots of trail options (many are marked; see photo), incredible rhododendrons, dog-friendly. Set next to the Merrimack River, with other water features inside the park. People ride their horses there. Driving: Be careful of Google Maps -- its GPS will tell you to turn into the rock wall or pedestrian path across of the parking lot. Parking: $5 ($20 non-Mass.), but free with a Mass. Senior Parking Pass ($10 for 62+ age, good for life).

Gorgeous large estate turned state park. Many trails to explore and experience various types of plants and wildlife. We saw rhododendrons that were at least 25’ tall!! So many buildings and gardens it kept us busy for 2 hours and we didn’t see half of the park. We saw some interesting buildings that we didn’t know what they were used for so that was fun to guess!! Definitely going back in the near future!
Allison M — Google review
There is a parking lot on site. Parking is $5/day or $60/season right now. Dogs on leash allowed. You have so many options for trails from the trail head. There is a map at the start of the trail head. I have seen dogs off leash, but most people seems to keep their dogs leashed. You will find people on bikes, or on foot. Really nicely taken care of. Worth coming back for to explore.
T I — Google review
We did 5.25 miles in 2 hours and 15 minutes. A great trail, well maintained and wide but could be marked better. Lots of dog walkers. We saw two deer about 30' from us. We also saw a red squirrel, a chipmunk and a snake swimming in the pond. It was a nice breezy day with no bugs. Make sure to see the tree lined road, gardens, fountain and pet cemetery. Watch out for horse poop and dog poop bags. A nice view of the Merrimack River on top of the hill. The only downside is $5 to park for MA residents and $20 for out of state residents, however there are bathrooms in the parking area.

Excellent day trip a short distance outside of Boston. Lovely waterfront scenery and the perfect topography for walking and shopping. Most shoppes are upscale with a gorgeous kitchen store that rivals (and bests) Williams Sonoma. Plenty of places to sit and relax. My personal favorite are the leather embossed postcards at RedBird that can be sent through the mail and (one would hope), saved forever. We visited on a cold but bright March Sunday and it was so very pleasant. Not too crowded but not desolate either. Absolutely worth the trip!

We shared the chicken pie and the smash burger. The smash burger was tasty with a thousand island dressing that was unique. The fries were crispy. The chicken pie was good but had a few too many peas for my liking. Service was good. Atmosphere was a traditional tavern feel. Good food but more of a place to grab a drink with friends.
Mandy T — Google review
The bar and atmosphere are worth experiencing at least once. The Irish pub vibes are perfect, but that is the only appeal of The Port Tavern. The food was overly salted, and the service, while friendly, was incredibly slow. Newburyport is filled with amazing restaurants, but The Port Tavern isn't one of them.
Erica C — Google review
We've been going there for years. (Because of the convenience, because we usuallyhaveapartyof 8 or 9 people). We get something different each time. The food is usually way over cooked! But the service is very good.

We stopped in on October 29th on a stay over before heading down to Salem. Sat at the bar, greeted quickly, nice drink and food menus along with the bartender. It was a slower night in there but the place looked good overall. Tidy, cozy. We ordered the salmon appetizer that came out shaped like a rose, pretty cool. I had the pretzels which were good. Drinks were made alright, no complaints there. Even got a nod from the bartender when I ordered an Angels Envy Old Fashioned. Normally, I get the vibe no one likes making these, she was happy to oblige. Dinner was equally as good. Chicken pot pie was nuts and the Haddock was well received. All in all, good time at the Port Tavern. If we find ourselves in Newburyport again, we'll definitely stop in.

Raw burger patty. I ordered a burger and fries and selected “no pink” for the patty. Picked up my order and walked all the way home only to discover the patty was raw on the inside. Inedible. Fries were good but no one in my family would try the burger since it looked raw (and the middle was cold as if it was still thawing). I tried reaching out for a partial refund over a week ago but no response. Will not be returning.

Not handicapped accessible. Bathroom is at the top of a very steep flight of stairs so if you have mobility issues that could be very challenging. Sadly no NA beers available. Really amazing onion rings! Not greasy perfectly breaded and tasty. Would get those again for sure! Fish tacos were good they had A LOT of sauce on them almost too much and I love sauces. Very kid friendly. The counter employee was super friendly and polite and willing to let our party each pay individually.

This place is famous for their burgers “beanie” burger being my favorite , fries “Garlic aioli” being my favorite and lemonade ( regular and cucumber). Generally this place is full, however I was surprised this time no one was inside the restaurant and the layout was also leaner. The guy behind the counter was not the friendliest, also didn’t seem interested in hosting. I decided to just stick with the lemonade and have my dinner at another favorite of mine in Newburyport. Lemonade was great as always.

Joppa Fine Foods is a must-visit spot in Newburyport, offering an array of delectable treats such as wine, cheese, sandwiches, charcuterie, and pantry items. The place is known for its well-curated selection of cheese and wine from across Europe. Additionally, it's a great spot to grab some homemade frozen chicken pot pies or enjoy a pint of Jeni's ice cream. The friendly staff adds to the overall vibe of the place.
I come here with my wife and son as often as we can. We live down the street and come to Joppa to add a bright spot into our day. You can tell the owner and staff pour their hearts into this business and the community. They are always helpful, informative and knowledgeable. Whether we’re grabbing a bottle of orange wine, a slice of quiche or a coffee - Joppa is always there and we’d be lost without them!

Joppa Fine Foods has a commitment to quality, flavor, and vibe that is unmatched on the North Shore. Our family loves to eat and study in their comfortable store. Favorite spot for coffee in Newburyport. The Kimchi sandwich, Green and Grain Bowl, Mezze plate, and the breakfast sandwich are all killer. The wine club is super fun to be a part of and has introduced us to so many unique natural and organic wines. Endless praise for this NBPT institution!

I’ve been going to Joppa for 19 years and I love the Joppa family!!! The food has always been amazing and everyone has always been so helpful. The wines are fantastic - sign up for the monthly wines! - and the holiday season is extra special. Going to Joppa is always a treat and we have so many happy memories. Keep up the amazing and always s dependable work!!!

I’ve lived in Newburyport for 10 years and have been shopping at Joppa even longer. It is one of my favorite spots in town and I am so grateful to have them as part of the community. Abbie and her staff are always friendly, attentive and welcoming. They often greet customers by name and are quick to offer help or make suggestions. The cozy cafe area and leafy patio are the perfect spot to catch up with friends over a meal or coffee. During the lunch rush, I appreciate their online ordering system which always gives timely, accurate updates (in store ordering is always prompt as well!). The care the Joppa team puts into purveying and preparing quality food and drink is only outshone by the effort they put into creating a warm, welcoming environment for all who visit. The passion of their entire team is evident in all that they do.

Joppa is like a big hug. I grew up in NBPT and have seen the many iterations of this special little space. Some of my favorite food items from all over Italy and CA are right there - less than a mile from my house. The staff is friendly, they are always playing great music. I dream about their scones & cookies and am so grateful to have such a special spot with such curated selections right here in our community. We are super lucky. Don't skip the breakfast sandwich ever - arugula, red pepper jelly - all of it.

I've been stopping by Joppa Fine Foods a couple of times a month for years - they have the best Havana Latte in Newburyport -- and their made-to-order sandwiches are excellent, with great variety and fresh ingredients. I also joined their monthly wine club about a year ago, in part because I like the selection they have in the store and the way they display it (by taste, with descriptions that make it easy to get what you want). And always such great people. Highly recommend Joppa for morning coffee or for lunch or for wine to take to the beach.
Patrick H — Google review
If you want tasty food, go here! Love the vegan and gluten free options. Plus the atmosphere is great. Don't expect great quality at fast food prices, whether it's here or other small businesses & restaurants. Such a unique place, it's harder and harder to find foodspots that focus on homemade and gourmet food but Joppa does a good job.
Ilana H — Google review
I can’t seem to break up with the green and grain bowl here. It’s delicious and beautiful. I usually get it to go and when I finally slide the box open, I am always blown away by how carefully assembled this meal is. It’s a real treat - full of texture and flavor. Add pickled onions! Or pickled fennel - yum. Hard to stop, so many options. While this bowl is a bit pricier than similar local stops, it is far superior - the ingredients are different and never over-chopped or full of rice like some bowls I have had. It’s so good. I also really like the truffle chips and a chai latte, plus checking out shop offerings - there’s always something new. Abbie and her crew provide exceptional offerings - enjoy!

Indian restaurant
Restaurant
Jewel In The Crown is a casual Indian restaurant with an extensive menu and a full bar. It has a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, making it a cozy spot for a meal. The food is highly praised for its delicious flavors, especially the vegetarian options. While some find the minimum order requirement disappointing, others appreciate the variety of dishes available. Prices are considered typical for the area, and while some dishes may not suit everyone's taste, there are still plenty of enjoyable options to try.
Food is authentic and very tasty. Chanced upon this restaurant on a drizzling day. Service is 11 out of 10 very friendly staff and Bargov especially thank you for the complementary mango lassi and pudding. Will come back !!

We stopped her for dinner during our New England road trip. The restaurant is set in a charming historic town. We opted to dine outside. The food and ambience were good. We ordered the veggie appetizer sampler and the vegetarian Thaali, along with mango Lassi. The staff were friendly.

We went to Jewel in The Crown before a night out in Newburyport for our anniversary. We love Indian food and this has been one of the best in Massachusetts. We started out with a mango lassi and the meat samosa. The mango lassi was great, it's a timeless classic. The meat samosa had peas and ground lamb in it, the pastry was light, and the fillings were packed in, it went great with their mint sauce which has a hint of spice to it. For the main courses we had the keema curry, and the special biryani with garlic and basil naan. The keema curry has so much meat, there was undoubtedly enough for 3 people. I ordered it spicy, it was not spicy enough to make you sweat, but enough for you to know it was spicy. There was a good amount of peas, I love this dish and here it was a great value. The portion of rice they gave with it matched the portion of the keema. This also paired really well with the naan, the keema does not have a diverse group of spices it's fairly simple, so the addition of the basil and garlic really worked well with the dish. The naan was also one of the best cooked naan I've had, it was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, not too greasy, and it really reheats well just throw it in a pan and cook both sides for like a minute or two. The special biryani had shrimp lamb and chicken. Again I have to mention the portion size, it was like three meals. The flavors were great, though pretty standard, but the raita was really nice to cool the heat of it. We finished off the meal with a pistachio kulfi, it's not that creamy, more grainy, but it's got a nice pistachio flavor, and it was a perfect portion for the end of the meal. Our server was very helpful with recommendations and the owner was social asking about where we are from and telling us about his background. Also the decor is very nice a lot of nice pictures of Indian scenes. The meal costed a little more than 80 dollars, which for what we got was a great value. All in all I definitely would recommend this place for the value.

Tonight was my first visit but it definitely won’t be the last. The house special basil and coconut tandoori chicken was the star of our meal but everything was hot, fresh and delicious . The service was friendly and prompt, the owner was sociable and kept a close eye on all parts of the business to ensure everything went smoothly. Parking was easy and there was also a full bar!
Jessica — Google review
I have been going to this restaurant for years now, and never once have I been disappointed in the quality of the food or service here. The management is also quite friendly and there is a hospitable atmosphere. I can't recommend Jewel in the Crown enough. Not only is this place my favorite Indian restaurant, but I would say without a doubt that it is the best restaurant that I've ever been to, full stop. I have been to many other Indian restaurants over the years, and I still have yet to find one that matches the quality of the food served here. I usually order the mushroom chicken curry, and my mom loves their tikka masala. I highly recommend ordering a side of naan, as the quality is top notch. Some of my friends are vegetarian, and they also love this place as much as I do. If you like Indian food and are passing through Newburyport, eating at Jewel in the Crown is a must.

Seafood restaurant
Located in Newburyport, MA, Michael's Harborside is a laid-back riverfront restaurant known for its steak, seafood, and cocktails. The establishment features three outdoor decks and offers live music to accompany your dining experience. Overlooking the Merrimack River, this spot is celebrated for its fresh seafood offerings and an impressive selection of wine, beer, and cocktails. Visitors can enjoy a quintessential lunch destination with tantalizing seafood options while taking in serene deck views at sunset.
I had an incredible time at Michael’s. I wanted to take a quick evening trip to Newburyport and Michael’s is where I ended up for dinner. The food was incredible, 10/10. I had the lobster bake stuffed and that was probably the best lobster I’ve ever had. The lobster was cooked so well and was so easy to eat. The overall atmosphere was so beautiful. I was on the heated outdoor seated area which was perfect for the late night cool breeze. The waitress I had was also very nice and friendly. She made everything so enjoyable and always checked in to make sure things were up to my liking. I am planning on returning here for the summer.

You win some, you lose some — and this was a loss. Honestly surprised the reviews are so high; must be for the view, which is lovely. I’d recommend coming here for a beer or glass of wine at sunset, but skip the food and cocktails. We ordered the lobster roll (have had better from a truck) and the swordfish taco, which came with sweet seaweed, mango on a flour tortilla - weird combo. Also ordered an aperol spritz that lacked fizz/ spritz, beer was fine.

I stopped here for a relaxing lunch. The view was awesome. I had the fish chowder which was delicious. The fish sandwich and roasted vegetables were also incredible. The service was very friendly. It really made my afternoon enjoyable.

We came for a birthday lunch for my mom and we both really enjoyed our meals. We loved the heated outdoor area overlooking the water. I had the Caesar salad with chicken and really liked it. My mom had a pumpkin ravioli and that was great too! Will definitely be back.

I was curious about this restaurant since it is busy throughout the year. I had lunch with friends and one of them who lives in Newburyport use to come here a lot. I made reservations in advance so we could get a table right ▶️ away. A great view of the Merrimack River and the Newburyport drawbridge. We watched it open 👐 and close twice to let sailboats ⛵ go underneath. We ordered Buffalo 🐃 Style Chicken 🐔 tenders for an appetizer. Not spicy 🥵 but they tasted good. I had the Chicken Sandwich with Swiss cheese and fries. My friends ordered the Seafood Casserole 🥘 and the Combo plate 🍽️ with shrimp, scallops, fries and coleslaw. My friend who ordered the combo couldn't finish it! We were offered and given complimentary bread 🍞 while we had a short wait for our orders. The bread of my sandwich started to become mushy after a short while. My friend who ordered the combo said it was okay but he has had better. My friend who ordered the casserole liked his entree. Service was great! I had a free 🆓 refill on my unsweetened iced tea with 🍋 lemon. The prices are high but with inflation and it being Newburyport, I am not surprised 😯 or complaining. I would go back 🔙 next Spring 🌱 or Summer 🌞 so I can sit on the deck and have a meal with friends again.

What's not to enjoy about this meal experience? We had a lovely view, even without a high top table. My husband got the baked haddock and I had the sesame salmon. Both were absolutely delightful! I could eat that salmon dish every day! The staff were friendly and attentive.

I had an incredible experience at Michael’s Harborside! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with beautiful waterfront views that made the evening feel extra special. What truly stood out was our server, Sharron. She was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her professionalism and genuine kindness elevated our dining experience and made it memorable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Pair that with the great service and lively yet relaxed vibe, and you’ve got a place I’ll be returning to again and again. Thank you, Sharron, and the whole team at Michael’s Harborside, for a wonderful evening!

Jersey Mike's Subs is a New Jersey-based sandwich chain known for its jumbo subs filled with cold cuts and various toppings. A local couple brought this iconic submarine sandwich to Newburyport, offering fresh sliced or grilled subs. Customers have noted the efficient and well-dressed staff, as well as the cleanliness of the restaurant. The touchless payment option may not always work, but orders through their app for delivery have been praised for their punctuality and quality.
I ordered through the Jersey mikes app for delivery. It arrived 20 minutes early and came out great! I got the turkey mikes way and added mayo. It’s not soggy and the produce is fresh. I even got the mini and saved the other half for tomorrow.

One employee over the phone and in person acts as if you are annoying him by ordering making it very clear. Leaves an awful taste in your mouth and awful customer service. Subs are great but service made me cancel and go to local spot instead.

I walked in at lunch time and ordered a regular cheese steak. The girl on the grill heard my order and shook her head no. The girl taking my order told me I couldn’t have one because the grill was being used to make cheese steaks for a catering order. Really didn’t make any sense. I ended up going elsewhere.
Chris G — Google review
I thought the service was excellent and the food good but not much of a sandwich selection. I’d like to see more deli type: corn beef, pastrami etc. Sort of boring menu but there is no where in Newburyport for deli type food. I did want to say that the music really turned me off and I wouldn’t necessarily call it music. Just this annoying background sound to the point that I wished I had sat in my car.

Beach
Plum Island Beach, located off the coast of Newbury and Newburyport in northeastern Massachusetts, is a popular 11-mile-long stretch of sand divided into three areas: The North Point, Plum Island Center, and The Refuge. Named after the plum trees growing along its sandy dunes, this beach attracts families, friends, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
Plenty of parking lots and very near ( 20 USD); bathrooms were nice and clean, just be mindful of the schedule. You will find them closed before 7 am and after 8pm everyday. The beach was beautiful: clean not super busy, waves were coming in hot, and water icy cold, as usual.. The view of the sky at sunset was breathtaking. The day was cloudy and warm.

So I came here a few weeks ago with my husband for our first time. Get there early since there are limited spots for non residents, parking was only $25 for the day. PROS: I thought it was cool there was a light house right across from he parking lot. We liked hat the beach didn't get packed and we were literally on an island of our own however we did go in June. We enjoyed watching the many boats come in and out of the bay area. We took a nice walk away from our spot down the further spot of the beach and we enjoyed that walk and finding seaglass and seeing the view from that side. CONS: My first complaint is how far away the bathrooms are which are only 3 porta potties. You walk down this long wooden ramp and if you stop to soon you can't even see the water, so you have to lug all your beach equipment very far to the edge to see the water. The sand is really hard and isn't wracked by the way, so there was ocean and other people trash everywhere. We didn't like that right where we were sitting people walked up and started fishing, which didn't make us want to go in the water.
ELOCIN R — Google review
My absolute favorite beach in the north east. Great for fishing and beaching. If you want to go all the way to the point there is a separate fee. I suggest getting there early like 8:30-9.00 for the best parking
Dylan S — Google review
If you are looking to be seaside in the calm beauty of the New England coast, this is the place to be. There are washrooms available when parking (we paid $15 for the day) and you will have to walk a bit to get to where you can put your chair, but it is worth it. If you have mobility issues, do a bit of research to be sure you won't be disappointed. As someone with mobility concerns, I had to work hard but the views, the peace and quiet, the history and the nature all around was well worth it! Also, since the river meets the sea, you may have to keep your toes out if the bacteria is high but they will inform you via the website and when parking. This is by far a favorite spot for us!
Michelli R — Google review
This place is awesome, dog friendly on leash after 530 pm in the summer and all the time in the winter. Waves are pretty rough but plum island is an adorable tiny beach town and the town and beach are more than worth a day trip. Parking can be a pain, aim for going when crowds are not, I avoid major holidays etc.

Love Plum Island! We came in August and we're able to do the lighthouse tour. The beach area is nice, tide can come in fast though! Would definitely come back here.
Glenda W — Google review
I wasn't able to enter the lighthouse. It was closed for the season. It is scenic, lights up with a green light and the grounds are maintained. A nice garden is off to the side. If you visit the beach ⛱️, it is a short distance from the beach entrance.
Stephen P — Google review
We came strictly to see the lighthouse.. The website said it was open for viewing.. After driving an hour to get here it was closed.. Never got to see the inside other then to look in the windows
Cristina N — Google review
The lighthouse isn’t even on the water. It’s in a fenced in yard. It probably used to be seen from the water but the town has grow up around it. The only parking near it is a paid parking garage lot. It looks like it’s on private property but we saw a photographer and a family go in for a photo shoot. Definitely not the best lighthouse. But it’s a piece of the history.
Katie G — Google review
This is but a moments diversion from your beach day. It was interesting to see how many times the river and thus the lighthouse has moved. I have been to plum island before and was seeking a little more. We found the lighthouse and a couple of information signs so again about a ten minute experience. The light house was NOT open so it’s a walk around the base and read the sign and on to the next adventure
Glenn R — Google review
We were here in the winter and there were no tours of the interior available. Still, it is a picturesque setting and if you can go inside on a tour the views must be wonderful. For history buffs, the Plum Island Lighthouse holds stories of maritime adventures and the challenges faced by early keepers. Its presence serves as a living testament to the rich maritime heritage of the region. Informational plaques on-site provide insights into the lighthouse's history and significance.

Mad Martha's Cafe is a charming and cozy spot located just across from the beach on Plum Island, making it an ideal destination for breakfast and lunch lovers. Since its transformation in 2011 under the ownership of Kendall and Kyree, this delightful eatery has maintained a warm atmosphere while serving up classic American dishes. The menu features beloved items like Portuguese sweet bread, which shines in their French toast and pancakes.
Been going here for years on our beach vacations to Plum Island and MM is new and improved under new ownership! The food is as filling and delicious as ever, with generous servings and something for everyone in the family. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The new owners have already added more seating and will add more yet. Don't miss it, and definitely wait for a seat if they're bustling. Your belly will be happy you did!

Staff were friendly, food was good. A cute, very small cafe by the beach. A note for dog owners - no dogs are allowed at the outdoor picnic tables. Staff told us this was due to state laws that consider the outdoor area to be part of the restaurant. Interesting since we eat on outdoor patios with our pup all across the state and even in Newburyport.

We spend the summers on PI and have been eating here for decades. Love it, and pleased to see it’s even better under new ownership. Love the new layout and the new owners are super sweet. And it’s actually clean now! I have to admit, sometimes it was a little dirty prior to these owners. They were starting off the menu a bit lighter as they get their footing with no specials, but they will get there. Would much prefer higher quality and a smaller menu to start. I think this cozy place is going to be even more popular now. Expect a wait on weekends.

The current iteration of Mad Martha's (on the Newbury side of Plum Island) was born in 2011 when Kendall and Kyree bought the prior restaurant, kept some menu items such as Portuguese sweet bread, and they're still with it. Kendall manages the front and Kyree cooks the food. I've patronized the restaurant many times over their history, and service and comfort remain top-notch. During my latest visit on an 80-degree Saturday in July, I ordered "Messy Eggs" (a scramble with sausage and vegetables), and added a side of fruit. Kyree cooked the yummy concoction while Kendall zoomed around the tables with a smile.

The fresh rolls were scrumptious! The peanut sauce was smooth, creamy & the chopped peanuts were in a light sauce that was delightful. The spicy shrimp and mango salad was beautifully presented, sweet citrus flavor. The onions were sliced medium- I would have enjoyed them slivered. Plenty of julienne mangoes and the shrimp were perfect. The Basil Stir fry was delicious- we were told it was medium spicy- I couldn’t taste it, my partner did at the end - he had most of this dish. The chunks of mushrooms were the best part for me. The shrimp were also perfectly cooked. This dish was flavorful.

Went in for lunch on a Saturday morning. The service here was outstanding. We were able to discuss menu with staff and after making our order food came out in a timely manner. The Thai basil I ordered was a bit too saucy for my liking that and the taste.we’re different from what I’m used to which is why I gave a 5. We also ordered a salad but they forgot it. Didn’t make a fuss because well we got full from the other items. I would go back to try more menu items.

When I tell you this review gives me such a heavy heart because as of 15 year patron of this establishment and a person that loves Thai food, I feel bad that I never sung their praises before. But the decline in their quality of food has just been so notable. I don’t think I can order here from anymore. Over the past year, I have gone out to the restaurant and then still order takeout hoping that it might’ve been a fluke. I do know that we are upon hard times and the cost of food has increased, so I noticed there was a big decrease in protein and vegetables, and the portion sizes had gotten a lot smaller, which I just saw as a sign of the times but some of the food it’s not even cooked it taste old. The quality isn’t even good at all tonight I ordered and I don’t even think I can finish my meal and this is someone who has been coming to this establishment for 15 years. I love this place and it hurts me to even write this review but I’m hoping that the owner sees it because I don’t know what’s going on, but your prices have increased. The quality has gone down. It’s more of just a sign of the times and I would strongly discourage Ordering from here and maybe check out other Thai food places. I spent $70 tonight on a salad and an entrée and I probably had about six pieces of chicken two green beans in my Penang curry, and then the papaya salad was traditional at all. There was a peanut sauce? Not mentioned - 2 shrimps which wasn’t even mentioned on the menu description? Not traditional? None of this is a big deal. It feels so strange to write this review, but I was so put off by my experience at brown sugar over the past year and a half the people there are lovely. This has nothing to do with anyone that works there. I just don’t understand what’s happening

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the area. No matter what I order, I always get the most delicious meal! It's also a beautifully decorated space, and very relaxing. Highly recommend, can't wait to return!

Ordered the panang curry with fried tofu, requested the spicy option. Food was delicious but mild. Asked for chilli sauce, this was mild too. Clearly not a place that serves spicy food as indicated on the menu. However the ambience is amazing, it really is a beautiful restaurant and they had live music when we went on early Saturday evening. I also had the coconut ice-cream which was a generous portion of 3 scoops. Very tasty, well made and highly recommend. Great place to check out, but not for those who love spicy food.

I didn't want my meal to end it was so good. Had the Brown Sugar Mango Curry with chicken. It was spicy, sweet and so fresh tasting. If I were to have any complaint it would be the curry does not include any rice or noodle with it, but is a separate side order. This does not take away from the high quality and great taste of the meal I had. Would not hesitate to eat there again.

We tried this restaurant because I had a Nift gift card and was definitely not disappointed. Food was excellent tasting and staff were very friendly. I should have asked to have hotter water for my tea but it wasn't too bad at the temperature it was at when we got it. They also had someone playing piano after 6:00 pm so that was nice. I'd definitely recommend it if you like Thai food and a pleasant atmosphere. We got some pricey dishes but I think it was worth the cost.

The Paddle Inn is a vibrant coastal eatery that offers a diverse range of global cuisines in a fun midcentury surf shop-themed setting. This lively diner has been featured as one of the best lunch spots in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The city recently introduced new parklets for outdoor dining, with The Paddle Inn being one of the restaurants benefiting from this initiative.
Absolutely fantastic dinner spot with impeccable service. Definitely try the wings and steak frites! The server was outstanding (really knew his stuff when recommending drinks) and truly went above & beyond in making the dinner special. Can’t wait to return!

We enjoyed Paddle Inn twice in one week! First, for dinner we tried the pork belly ramen and the shrimp poke bowl. Then for brunch we had the shrimp and grits along with the fried chicken and scallion pancake. While dinner was delicious the star was the brunch menu! As a born and raised southerner, those shrimp and grits were by far the best I’ve ever had. Service for both meals was on point. We will be back for brunch again soon!

I wouldn't give a star. We waited 10 minutes for water, about 6 for a soda. No one took our order. We watched them bring water to dogs-- good for the dogs! Watched 3 people clear 2 small tables, we put cash on table for the soda and left. We sat there for 27 minutes and no one said Hello or made us feel welcome.

It is a pretty little restaurant and the menu is a little bizarre for the setting but I figured what the heck I’d try it. The waitress got my girl two drinks which tasted terrible. Not even tasting like alcohol but like cologne. She messed up my order forgetting something on my burger because she didn’t write anything down. Overall though the food was decent but when I saw the check my jaw dropped. 96 dollars for two badly made mixed drinks, a beer, and two entrees. The quality was really bad for being so over priced.

Love getting to come in here! Had some espresso martinis and some Thai fries for a light bite! Atmosphere is very intimate and the staff are super kind! Definitely recommend for people to come by!

Quite the interesting menu, definitely the place to go to spice up date night or drinks with friends. The whole place has such a fun vibe, add in the splashy cocktails and unique menu, and it's a recipe for a great time. I really liked their take on crab rangoons, the crab was very fresh and flavorful, and the sauce on point. The pupusas were also excellent, and honestly I can't say I've ever seen those on a menu anywhere else in the area. This is the kind of place where you want to come back just so you can try the rest of the menu!

This place is a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner. My wife and I sat at the bar and were helped by Jess who is an absolute delight. Drinks were awesome and the food was surprisingly good. We got the rangoons, garlic parm buffalo wings, chicken sammy and the cod-tsu. their wing sauce is outstanding, rangoons were crispy and hot and our sandwiches were great. prices were a tad high but i imagine rent in downtown isnt cheap.

We were the only table at 5pm and still treated like an inconvenience. Our waiter wore sunglasses indoors, didn’t smile, didn’t ask a single question, and said nothing beyond a flat “alright” after taking our order. He then laughed about it with the owner—right in front of us. I confronted the owner directly, and neither he nor the waiter said a single word. No apology, no explanation—just smug silence. Food was average at best. Given the attitude and the quality, I honestly don’t understand the good reviews. There are plenty of nice restaurants and kind people in and around Newburyport; do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Carmine is a popular restaurant in Newburyport, known for its chef and owner Luca Onofri's soulful renditions of classic Italian dishes. A MUST GO!!!! If you love Italian food this is definitely the place to go to !! The appetizers we got were eggplant parm and meatballs both incredible along with the bread and oil service ! For dinner I got the chicken parm with vodka sauce I am speechless the crispiest most flavorful chicken cutlet I’ve ever had!! I love how they do their vodka sauce as well with the meats in it as well ! Delicious wagon wheel pasta it’s the best I can’t say anything but amazing things about this place!!!! Highly recommend

I shocked this restaurant isn’t at 5 stars!!! Great spot for a delicious Italian dinner, It felt like a real treat, between the atmosphere, the great service (CJ and crew great job), and of course the food. The spaghetti with clams beat all expectations, not only was were the clams great, but the white sauce was A+. My Scallops with a spicy red sauce is giving me hugs from the inside. The Salad is well portioned! No desserts offered but with all that food who has room , Great place for a romantic dinner or couples night. Love this place and will be going back

Really liked the Garlic Shrimp in the Pan appetizer! The sauce is very flavorful. Thumbs up to the complimentary bread with the garlic infused olive oil. It’s simple but delicious. We also ordered the chicken parm which is good too.

The Good - We had a fantastic meal at Carmine. The mussels, penne vodka (although they were out of penne) and crazy Alfredo were all excellent. I had a dirty martini and it was one of the best I've ever had including their home made blue cheese stuffed olives. The Bad - we had no idea we had a 60 minute limit to eat. We were enjoying ourselves only to have the hostess come by and indicate that another reservation was waiting on our table. This didn't ruin the night but left us a little frustrated to end the experience. $200 for two people and we had 1 hour to take it all in.
Jay G — Google review
Shame on us for not reading the fine print under a reservation for two, but an hour for dinner is just a little bit rushed. Everything was great until the last 15 minutes. We had ordered espresso martinis at the 45/50 minute mark and were told that was fine. They were brought over close to the hour time limit, and from the second they were put down, we were being “cheers-ed” out. Within 10 minutes, we were “cheers-ed” 4 times before we were told there was another reservation. I’d rather have been told not to order the espresso martinis. We essentially took them like a shot as it was super uncomfortable at the end!

First, the food is good. Second, the “timed” dining at this place is the first I’ve ever encountered outside of an all you can eat buffet. Embarrassing behavior for any establishment, let alone in that location, expecting you to pay that amount of money for a meal you need to shovel in your mouth before the timer rings. Carmine, please have some class moving forward. This review has nothing to do with wait staff. All on you management.
Nicholas W — Google review
Food was great. Our server Dennis was great. We were very disappointed when we learned that we had our table for only 75 minutes. Seems rushed for a fine dining establishment. We would have had a leisurely cocktail, an appetizer, entree, a bottle of wine and dessert Instead we had a drink, entree and were gone. I guess I can think of it as I probably spent about half as much as I would have otherwise. I would have like to have been informed before I sat down at the table for dinner.

Had a perfect meal today at Carmine's. My wife had the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were soft, moist and delicious. I had veal parm and fusilli. The sauce was great a little tangy with crushed red pepper. The veal cutlet was cooked perfectly. Love this place

Wonderful lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The shrimp were battered nicely. The fries were tasty. The size of the ahi tuna sandwich was unbelievable! We also really enjoyed the clam chowder as an appetizer. I appreciate that they served their lunch menu on the weekends too.

This place is alright if you want a place to eat very good quality seafood for a large party of more than 4 people! The Fried Seafood Combo was crisp, light, and easy to digest. The chips, always delicious, but what I thought was lacking was the seasoning of the batter. Salt or something. It was a bit bland. But the fish, clams, and squid? Fresh as it can get! Make sure to ask the server for Malt Vinegar because they don't keep it table side. Coleslaw as classic and mellow. Overall, I'll leave it up for you to decide!

We made a stop here for lunch on our way through after visiting a few spots in Newburyport. We had the fish and chips, the fish sandwich deluxe, and the firecracker chicken tenders. Dominic was a wonderful server and very attentive to our table. The food was delicious and came out relatively quick! Loved the tartar sauce. We were happy to find this spot during our travels!
Hailey C — Google review
Everything we had was great! We got some lobster chowder (which the waitress said they only have on Mondays) & lobster rolls with fries. The chowder was so rich and a great starter and the portion of lobster/fries was perfect for lunch. Those fries were perfectly soft inside and crispy on the outside. Will be back :)

Nikki did a great job accommodating. Very witty with excellent sense of humor. Food was very good but baked potato was likely reheated which dried it up. Good wines and phenomenal views. Great atmosphere.

I grew up coming here it has always been my go to when i visit newburyport. My last visit my prime rib on special was extremely overcooked and so was my husbands seafood, the fries also changed which i wasnt expecting but not a huge deal. Service was slow and it just wasnt upto its usual par, very sad to see this place go down hill as its always been a family favorite.

We enjoyed appetizers, drinks and lunch here recently. Between us, we had baked haddock, broiled haddock, shrimp scampi, stuffed clams, and steamed muscles. Everyone thought everything was excellent. The service was great, and in my opinion, everything was reasonably priced given the outstanding quality.
