Absolutely AMAZING!! It was my first time, and my husband hadn't been in years. We did the self guided tour. There were so many animals to see and feed. What a fabulous experience for an animal lover like me! Kids would love it!!!
This place is definitely worth the drive. A lot of animals and you can feed them all except the rhinos and cheetahs. The giraffe will stick their heads in your car to eat the food so dont have them waiting too long lol. Customer service at the gate was great. Gift shop super expensive. 5 stars!!!!!
Cool place to go with your family, we've been 3 times now and the drive there is almost 2 hours away from home BUT its worth the drive. Id recommend driving your personal car instead of doing the tour bus. Tour bus is uncomfortable and there's rules in place for touching animals etc. Take your personal car thru and experience it at your pace. Tour guides were nice and informative but not worth the extra price for those tickets.
During my visit to the United States, one of the most memorable experiences was exploring Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The beautiful landscape, filled with rolling hills and open grasslands, created a perfect natural setting for the animals. The variety of wildlife—including giraffes, zebras, emus, deers and many other species—was truly fascinating to see up close. The self-driving safari experience made the visit even more exciting, allowing us to move at our own pace and enjoy every moment. Feeding the animals directly from the car was an unforgettable experience—their gentle interactions made us feel completely connected to nature. Overall, Fossil Rim was a wonderful combination of adventure, learning, and fun, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Was super fun and animals were great, graffes were fabulous feeding them by hand was great experience. Could have better advertised all the stuff that you can do at the halfway point, the petting area and tortoises were a bit of from the main area but once found great to see. Didn't bring proper footwear for the hikes but if we go back would do the hikes as well.
Still one of my favorite Texas adventures after 35+ years! I’ve been visiting Fossil Rim for over 35 years, and it never loses its magic! Every trip feels like a mini safari — rolling hills, curious animals, and those unforgettable giraffes that lean right into your car window to say hello (or maybe sneak a snack 🦒). It’s incredible to watch families and friends light up as they feed the animals, drive through the beautiful landscape, and take in the peaceful rhythm of nature. From the majestic rhinos lounging in the sun to the deer and antelope grazing freely, every moment feels special. Fossil Rim is such a gift to Texas — a place where conservation, education, and joy come together. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, it’s an experience that never gets old. 🌿❤️
We had a blast feeding the giraffes. The gift shop and cafe were excellent and offered several options for everyone. The hiking trail was short and sweet. Super kid friendly, would highly recommend.
Had the best time at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center! The safari tour was awesome — it’s a two-part trip, and after the first section you can chill, grab something at the café, hit the Nature Store, and check out the hiking trails. Feeding giraffes was my favorite part, hands down 🦒✨

Dinosaur Valley State Park is a true gem! The park offers a wonderful combination of natural beauty and fascinating history. Walking along the riverbeds and seeing real dinosaur tracks was an unforgettable experience. The trails are well-maintained, and there are plenty of spots for picnics and relaxing by the water. It’s a perfect place for families, hikers, and anyone who loves nature and a bit of prehistoric adventure. Highly recommend visiting!
If you're planning a visit, make sure to arrive early! While parking is sufficient, it can get limited as everyone arrives for the day. The location boasts a spacious picnic area equipped with grills and tethers for your furry friends. You'll find plumbing for restrooms in the picnic area, along with portable toilets at the entrances to most trails. The water is stunningly clear, allowing you to spot everything from dinosaur footprints to seashells. The trails are clean and well-maintained, with connections that let you choose between long treks or shorter loops. Most trails are shaded, providing a welcome break from the sun. That said, it does get quite hot, so be sure to bring extra water and layers for sun protection. There’s also a charming little store that offers all the essentials. Overall, this place is fantastic for everyone, from seasoned hikers to toddlers just looking to splash around in the water.
It was so peaceful once we walked down to the river. I wish the signage was a little better. The dinosaur tracks in the river are just really neat to see and think about. It was a pretty warm day, but the river was so nice and cool. My husband road his bike around some of the trails. He liked it.
It's a nice place to cool off in the water. I took my shoes off and walked across the slippery rocks to see the dinosaur tracks. I was amazed at how big they were! They offer life jackets to use for safety in the swimming area, too. It's a very clean park that offers several hiking trails, horseback riding, and picnic areas. They also have a fun souvenir store. I can wait to go again.
We were driving through Glen Rose, Texas, and noticed several dinosaur statues and signs around town. Curious, we asked Siri why—and learned about Dinosaur Valley State Park. We decided to take the short 10-mile detour, and it was absolutely worth it! The river area is beautiful, and the dinosaur tracks are fascinating to see up close. The trails to the tracks were well marked, and parking was plentiful and convenient. All of the track sites were within a couple hundred yards of the parking areas, making them easy to reach.
We love coming here. There are some easy hikes and some hard. The river is peaceful and relaxing, and warm enough to play in. The dinosaur footprints are pretty visible and really cool!
As a child my parents took me here, so I knew I had to take my kids as well. We stopped by the little “merch” shop (that’s my kids call it), and I got them some t shirts. I would highly recommend bringing swim clothes for the kids and yourself, so they can swim close to the Dino tracks. There was a high amount of algae today, so certain areas of the Dino tracks were not that visible. Other than that we had a great time in the creek / river.
Lovely place. Drive was worth it. Dino footprints are located in an area called Ballroom something. It's all under water. Take water shoes, water runs knee high in the summer. You'll have to cross the river. Glen Rose is a bit of a corny town. Dino statues are everywhere Clever idea! Nice picnic area to eat at. Bathrooms are decent. Best to go during the week. It will take less time to arrive. Tickets are purchased by time slots.

We had the best time for my son’s 3rd birthday!! He loved all of the different activities. Loved the two different fossil digs and the playground had stuff he’d never seen before that challenged him! He also spent a good amount of time feeding the fish. This place is just too too cute. Wish they had a 3-day pass option for those who are not local!
🦖Family Fun Day, in Glen Rose TX @Dinosaur World with My Daughter and 5 grandchildren who love everything Dinosaurs, until my 3yr old grandson got the opportunity to see them up close and in person, and he was sure that they were going to eat him 🙂🤨😂. As terrible as that sounds, we had a great time. He cried on the way in, and cried when we left because he wants to go back again 🤷🏽👌🏾✨. They have a splash park, an animated museum, a train 🚂 ride, a dinosaur trail that makes for a great learning experience, and exercise, a nice pond with fish and turtles that I'm sure you can feed, and from the looks of it, they fish and turtle knew that we could feed them as well, as you can see in the video the minute we walked up, they all came to the surface. There was so much to see, that we will definitely be going back again 🦕.
Listen , i give nothing but honest reviews so take a second and read what I have to say about this place. This place is great for your first time going, but if you live in the area and go more than once, hoping that just maybe they will come up with some more exciting ideas instead of some worn painted slightly damaged dinosaurs then you would have spent waaaayy to much money yet again and will be highly disappointed unfortunately. Although I will say, we went recently sept 9th 2025 for my son's birthday and they did have a little water park for the kids to cool off in after the short circle walk looking at the dinosaurs, oh! And they did have a pterodactyl in the museum area, a squeaky one displayed lol! I dont know if this is government funded , which would make sense for how poorly its ran. Customer service is way below average , they are worried about you stepping over the stupid ropes so you dont touch the idiotic skeletons laying all over the place smh. Do you remember the movie "land of the lost" with will Ferrell when he goes to that run down "amusement park" and he goes to another dimension? Well this place and its employees are not far off, all I was missing was his tachyon amplifier and i was set lmao! Go once but never again , in my opinion, its not worth the 100's of dollars you will spend on the tickets, train ride, gift shop and everything else they will try and charge you for .
If you like dinosaurs, you will absolutely love this place! They have life-size dinosaurs, you can walk among, an animatronic museum, a dig sight, a park and a gift shop. Its so much fun for kids of all ages! Adult kids too!
Took my 3 year old and he loved it. My only complaint is it's pretty pricey for what it is and general admission doesn't pay for some of the activities, like the train ride or fossil dig. The dinosaurs were the best we've seen at similar attractions. For general admission and the train ride it was $86 for two adults and one child. If we lived closer I think the annual pass would be a better deal.
Over priced general admission, you have to pay extra per person for a train ride, a dig and some other activity. We payed nearly $100 for 3 adults and 2 children. The splash pad is a makeshift 15x15 area with water sprinklers and an electric cord right next to it supplying electricity to some fans on the other side of the sidewalk. The dinosaur information plaques on the trail are half erased. The playground has half of its jungle gym closed off. You're probably better off going half a mile down the road to the State Park.
What a fun trip! We explored the entire park and had a blast! Gem Mining, Fossil Digging, Train Riding, and visiting the museum was all very educational and FUN! The staff is all amazing and helpful. The gift shop is extensive and has a little something for every budget. They also have two big playgrounds for kids up to 12. Definitely bring sunscreen and water because Texas is HOT! DON'T MISS THIS PARK!
We had a lot of fun! I think they offer a lot for the price point. There was hardly anyone there when we went. We walked the trail and saw the dinosaurs with our 4 year old. The trail is a little over .5 mile long with lots of shady spots. There is a stocked pond along the way. The park was large and provided fun entertainment while parents took a break. The extras aren't that expensive and are fun for the Littles!

Not being from the area and arriving after 5pm mid-week, I immediately recognized the river/dam as i passed it, but the parking lot was easy to miss for me. The entrance is right off the main road, sitting close to other fun looking local businesses with a similar large, open, gravel parking lot. Due to our later arrival the empty lots ran together and I missed the turn. **The parking lot itself is slightly sloped and quite bumpy!! It's primarily made up of dirt and embedded stones rather than loose gravel, giving a more cobblestone feeling. It was fairly level aside from a few small holes and dips from normal traffic wear. My small vehicle got in and out with no problem but do be sure to drive slowly and keep eyes on the road, especially if in a car low to the ground. The park seemed smaller than I expected but still a beautiful area! There were some bits of litter here and there that were likely carried off by the wind and got trapped between the rocks, but the park was generally clean. The surrounding nature looked nice and healthy, water was clear and clean. Fish, deer, birds/cranes, along with other little critters were out and about. It was so beautiful and relaxing, we're excited to go back and stay longer next time!
Big Rocks Park in Glen Rose is a hidden gem for a laid-back family outing. The shallow river is perfect for kids to splash around, and the massive limestone rocks make it feel like nature’s playground. The sunset views were beautiful, and the whole area felt peaceful and relaxed. One thing to be aware of: we spotted a snake in the water, so stay alert, especially with young kids. Still, it felt safe overall, and the mix of water, rocks, and open space made it a memorable stop. A great spot for a picnic, photos, and cooling off on a hot day.
The water depth is very shallow. Too shallow to really swim in if an adult. Very rocky near the river. No shade anywhere. The rocks and sand are quite hot in the summer.
The park was a very beautiful area. Love the river rock bed.
Still like I remember from my childhood in the 80s.. The water was very low, but it's still. A beautiful place. No amenities available. Bring your own chairs.
Big Rocks Park in Glen Rose, TX, is a scenic and family-friendly day trip destination known for the massive, smooth rocks lining the Paluxy River. The water is shallow and safe, making it ideal for younger kids to wade and play during the summer. It's also a great spot for dogs, provided they are strictly kept on a leash. Be aware that the parking lot is made of uneven stone, so wear appropriate shoes and drive carefully. Overall, this park is a beautiful, low-key, slice of nature perfect for a relaxed family outing.
Very beautiful Great view Great place to walk n clear your mind Amazing sunset
Fun stop in a small town. The rocks are giant boulders with a nice mileish trail near a rustic old downtown.

Very informative an eye opener. We go there from time to time and this time we learn about the Texas Dinosaur! So beautiful! We also learn about excavations and scientific evidence that are new. I can’t wait to see the replica of the last Jewish Temple.
So happy to see a dinosaur museum that talked about the Bible. I learned more from talking with the man Terry that does the kids' short class than walking around because my kids would barely let me look. The Noah's ark was so neat, and the things that they are doing there is amazing. Wish there was a walking path to the big dinos to talk pictures.
Attempted to visit while stopping at the nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park. Unfortunately, it is not open on Tuesdays, when we were there. I have been to the Creation Museum in Kentucky, and this appears to be smaller than that museum, from the building size. I hope that it is making a great impact on people.
This was a huge blessing to my family!!! We visited family in Waco and took the trip to see the dinosaur footprint fossils and stopped at CEM first. We spent about 2 hours here and barely scratched the surface of the amounts on information contained in this museum. It's a blessing they thoughtfully placed it just before the Dinosaur State Park. This will boost your faith in Christ and expose a non-believer to new thoughts.
Overall good experience. Creation from a Christian perspective and about as systematically scientific fact based as non religious archeological museums.
My wife and I was expecting a real museum. But this it not a museum. It is an exhibit of mixed real and fantasy things. Not evidence based explanations. So visit here if you want to be somewhat entertained by the non-fact based explanations or find a real museum somewhere else.
I definitely recommend this place to everyone, they gave a very detailed and entertaining fossil presentation. They also have a great selection of books and the friendliest staff to help you with anything
Great little museum! There is a lot to see with some unique and historical items. Very awesome to see and hear about scientific evidence proving creation. One of the scientists was sweet and talked to us about their current experiments and projects. Worth stopping if you have the time!!

Enjoyed the presentation and greatly appreciate not being pushed into a decision. Lisa was new but did a great job with the information, showing us around the property and very friendly. We had a home cooked breakfast and endless refills on coffee and drinks. Thankful for the weekend stay at Tres Rios and definitely something to think about in the next few years!
This park is really beautiful with beautiful rivers surrounding it! It has nice fishing areas and plenty of amenities! The pool area is very cool and very deep… the cabins are gorgeous and are small dream homes! And the campgrounds for campers are very nicely designed for campers! Now the kicker is the Rv sites especially near the river banks are just a site to see! It has its own little store to shop and great staff… we came in after hours to the store and they still helped us! I recommend this place to every one!
We came out to review the resort. The property is beautiful!! Staff is nice and friendly, this is a family atmosphere resort. We were visiting and all of the members and staff made our visit feel special. We will definitely be joining this family in the future. Thank You Tres Rios for showing us your beautiful property.
Room was nice, but was not very clean. (We reported it when we left.) Bed was clean and comfortable. Beware of the Bur Oak Tree acorns. Those acorns are huge! Don't park under those trees if you value your windshield. LOL!
Camped on a trial basis and took the tour. Park is wonderful with access to lots of trees and three rivers. Yvonne took us on tour with sales meeting. She was wonderful and kind. The other staff was friendly and courteous. Would recommend the park to anyone interested.
We love Tres Rios and spend as much time there as possible. The walks along the river never disappoint and offer so much beauty. peace and quiet. The staff is always very friendly and attentive to whatever needs we may have.
I love Tres Rios! The beautiful grounds are well kept and the staff are very accommodating and professional. I feel very safe here. Walking the trail around the river’s edge is very serene with all its natural beauty of flora and fauna.
This timeshare was pitched as the perfect solution for our camping adventures, but it turned into a long-term financial burden. Far from being a harmless mistake, it felt more like a deceptive trap. Here’s what happened: First, the financial strain was overwhelming. We were locked into a costly commitment with annual maintenance fees that kept rising unexpectedly. On top of that, there were additional fees that hadn’t been disclosed during the initial sales pitch. It quickly became clear this wasn’t the investment we thought it would be. Second, the sales manager was unhelpful. Initially, he seemed supportive, but once we started asking questions and realized the promises we were sold didn’t align with reality, communication became nearly impossible. It was frustrating to feel ignored when we needed help the most. Lastly, and most concerning, we discovered falsified information on our paperwork. For example, my wife’s income was inflated to secure approval, even though it was inaccurate. This kind of dishonest practice is not only unethical but deeply troubling. This experience is more than just a bad investment—it is a lesson in caution. If you’re considering a timeshare, be sure to do extensive research and ask plenty of questions before committing. We wouldn’t recommend this experience to anyone.

Great playground for preschool to 10yrs old. Nothing for really yound children. Buildings (historic) are in disrepair Nice paved walking paths that goes all the way to Big Rocks Park.
I googled fishing places in Glen Rose and this park came up and my mom and I went there to check it out on a Saturday. It is very nice and clean, has a small playground for kids, big pavillion area for events. A paved walkway down by the river that goes all the way to the Glen Rose dam. The fishing there is ok for bass, perch or turtles. The park has clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. There were very nice people that helped me to get up the hill from the river cause it is a bit of a walk. My mom caught a perch and we let it go back to grow some more. Overall it is a nice historical park for all to enjoy.
Great place to refuel before continuing on our day trip/adventures.
Great location for a walk and the kids to play. There is a restroom and picnic tables in the shade!
This was a really nice place to visit
We visited the park during our visit to Glen Rose. Our granddaughter enjoyed playing with friends at the playground. We also enjoyed the river walkway.
A great place for a family picnic. The kiddos had lots of fun on the playground and allenjoyed the river walk.
It was a nice park with a good-sized play area, plenty of seating and tables. Someone's dog was off leash and came up to harass mine, but other than those poor manners, the children around all played nicely with each other. There is a party that takes you closer to the water.

Super nice place, great art from local artists, and the people who work there were super nice and welcoming. Free admission and I wish I could have made a donation but we weren't carrying cash 😭 if anyone reading this goes, please make sure you make a donation!
This mill has great community and doner support. The house and grounds are a great treat to visit. There is so much artwork and showcased artists. I love the design of the house as an art gallery and an historical site. It would be a great place to have a special event.
The Barnard's Mill is a small town museum. There's an art display in most of the building. There's historical information which includes the moonshine raid by the Texas Ranger Frank Hammer. Frank Hammer was brought in to hunt down and kill Bonnie and Clyde 1934. 30 minutes or so to go through. There was a car show when I was there.
Beautiful buildings, gallery, and furnishings.
Didn't have enough time to go through everything but we will be back when we have some extra time to spend there. The tour was great (had to cut short due to time) and they even managed to keep an 8 and 11 year old mostly interested.
5-29-2024 As soon as I entered the building, I was struck by the friendly cheerful welcome of the staff. And I mean IMMEDIATELY!!! EMMA is an excellent tour guide of this art gallery, historical treasure located in Glen Rose Texas. 😊Emma is knowledgeable and presented herself in a positive professional manner! Highly highly recommend ! 👍👍 I think the hours listed on this page may need to be updated for summer 2024. 🙄I will be back because there is more to see and I want to spend more time looking at the FABULOUS art. PLEASE GO ! Admission is FREE But DONATIONS are welcomed for sure. It is a gem! You won’t be disappointed.
Great place for art and to learn about local artists I just left this place and will definitely come back with other ppl

A must see when you visit Glen Rose! It’s a FREE admission museum, it’s small but packed with so many great things to look at and learn about! The people there were so friendly and gave the kids a free fossil too! We were very impressed and very appreciative. We will definitely go again the next time we visit Glen Rose!
Cute little museum right off the town square with free admission. The gentleman working was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about talking with people, very friendly atmosphere. Lots of neat trinkets and artifacts, glad we stopped in!
Such an awesome place! So many great artifacts of the history the local area! John St. Helen who claimed to be John Wilkes Booth! Definitely come in and see this place when you're in town!
A great little museum! This place is rich in history and the treasure to the community. We were provided an overview of the museum exhibits by one off the museum directors (she was awesome!). This stop is certainly worth your time and provides lots of insight to the history of the area. The museum is free, but accepts donations.
What a wonderful museum. that lady who runs it was a wealth of information. really enjoyed it!
When we got there it was closed so we could not go inside but definitely 5 stars for their cute garden and diniassor track. We will check it out next time we drive by Glen Rose! Lovely town to visit for sure🦖🦕

Happen to be camping about 10 minutes from here and the locals said it was a great place to go for fishing. With the wind and cold front, it was not the best day to fish, but we did get to enjoy some wonderful scenery! This park is neatly kept and manicured down to the waters edge for a good portion of the lake. There is a good number of shelters with picnic tables and charcoal grills for lunch retreats and weekend getaways. The restrooms were neat and clean and for a state park, this is a huge plus! There is a place to launch a kayak or any other legal boat for this park. No gas motors so make sure you are aware if that before you go. Overall a great park, was just a little pricey for entrance in my opinion. $30 for a family of four to go here. However it is pet friendly as long as they are leashed! There is an awesome walking trail that goes around the lake as well so that you can get some good exercise with your pets! They also have a good swimming area with a dock you can swim out to and jump off of!
We randomly found this place and decided to check it out on a Thursday (very empty), and ended up staying 7 hours!! 😅😆 What a gem this place is and my kids couldn’t get enough of it. You can go fishing (kids caught their biggest bass yet!), kayaking (we brought our own), swimming (with the fish!), and just enjoy the beautiful view! Loved that the water was soooo clear and clean, they had built-in overhangs that saved us from the heat and tables, convenient and clean bathrooms, free life vests to borrow, and really friendly staff! It wasn’t too far from the highway and was just the perfect family day that we needed! We’ll be back for sure, well worth the visitor fee!! (The only thing you got to watch out for, is duck poop everywhere but hey, it’s nature! 😅)
This place is absolutely amazing! The water is very clean and the park is very well kept! So needless to say, do your part to keep this place enjoyable for everyone!
Let me start off by saying how CLEAN Wheeler Branch Park is. LETS LEAVE THIS PLACE THAT WAY ! The water is super clear, seaweeds here and there but is doesn’t harm anybody. The best part is the flooding board, kids had a blast jumping all day. Fishes swimming all around it’s BEAUTIFUL - They provide lifejackets from toddlers to adults FREE Adults $10 Kids 13 and under $5 If I could give 10 stars I would ! Dallas resident (:
Wheeler Branch is a well-kept, scenic park that offers a solid setup for scuba training and casual outings. Underwater visibility typically ranges from 10 to 20 feet, so while conditions can be a bit rough, it’s still a reliable spot for practice and skill-building. The grounds are impressively clean—tables, restrooms, and common areas are all well-maintained, which adds to the overall comfort. The gatekeeper woman is consistently polite and welcoming, setting a positive tone right from entry. On the flip side, the male attendant could stand to ease up—taking payment without unnecessary hassle would go a long way in improving the guest experience. Visitors tend to be friendly and respectful, which helps make each trip enjoyable. All in all, it’s a decent place to train, relax, and spend time outdoors.
We had the most perfect birthday for son Krue!! This location is truly the greatest. We rented the pavilion for the party and it was just awesome! Tony the park manager is the true MVP he went above and beyond to accommodate us while we were there. Anything and everything we needed was taken care of before we even asked. I will forever have our sons birthdays here as long as they let us ❤️ Thank you Mr. Tony for everything, you truly blessed me and my family. Love Raul & Amanda Martinez
It is the best place to de-stress and have a nice family day, very clean, the water very clear🤙🏼
Wheeler Branch Park is a nice sized park and lake. Entry is off of a small farm road (paved) and there is an entry fee for the park (I believe it was $7 per person?). We were there for my Daughters' SCUBA lessons which is a perfect use for this lake as there is no motorboat traffic (only kayaks and/or open hulled boats - small electric trolling type motors are allowed). The park is clean and well maintained. There are on-site restrooms with changing facilities and these too are kept clean. There are several covered picnic areas with built-in BBQ grills available which I think are first come first serve. The diving here is quite good, all things considered... with marked underwater features (platforms, an old bus, poker table, etc.). The water is easy to wade into even when loaded down with dive equipment on.
