The trails are well-maintained, and there are plenty of spots for picnics and relaxing by the water. It’s a perfect place for families, hikers, and anyone who loves nature and a bit of prehistoric adventure. Highly recommend visiting!

If you're planning a visit, make sure to arrive early! While parking is sufficient, it can get limited as everyone arrives for the day.
The location boasts a spacious picnic area equipped with grills and tethers for your furry friends. You'll find plumbing for restrooms in the picnic area, along with portable toilets at the entrances to most trails.
The water is stunningly clear, allowing you to spot everything from dinosaur footprints to seashells. The trails are clean and well-maintained, with connections that let you choose between long treks or shorter loops. Most trails are shaded, providing a welcome break from the sun.
That said, it does get quite hot, so be sure to bring extra water and layers for sun protection. There’s also a charming little store that offers all the essentials.
Overall, this place is fantastic for everyone, from seasoned hikers to toddlers just looking to splash around in the water.
It was so peaceful once we walked down to the river. I wish the signage was a little better. The dinosaur tracks in the river are just really neat to see and think about. It was a pretty warm day, but the river was so nice and cool. My husband road his bike around some of the trails. He liked it.
It's a nice place to cool off in the water. I took my shoes off and walked across the slippery rocks to see the dinosaur tracks. I was amazed at how big they were! They offer life jackets to use for safety in the swimming area, too. It's a very clean park that offers several hiking trails, horseback riding, and picnic areas. They also have a fun souvenir store. I can wait to go again.
We were driving through Glen Rose, Texas, and noticed several dinosaur statues and signs around town. Curious, we asked Siri why—and learned about Dinosaur Valley State Park. We decided to take the short 10-mile detour, and it was absolutely worth it!
The river area is beautiful, and the dinosaur tracks are fascinating to see up close. The trails to the tracks were well marked, and parking was plentiful and convenient. All of the track sites were within a couple hundred yards of the parking areas, making them easy to reach.
We love coming here. There are some easy hikes and some hard. The river is peaceful and relaxing, and warm enough to play in. The dinosaur footprints are pretty visible and really cool!
As a child my parents took me here, so I knew I had to take my kids as well.
We stopped by the little “merch” shop (that’s my kids call it), and I got them some t shirts.
I would highly recommend bringing swim clothes for the kids and yourself, so they can swim close to the Dino tracks.
There was a high amount of algae today, so certain areas of the Dino tracks were not that visible.
Other than that we had a great time in the creek / river.
Lovely place. Drive was worth it.
Dino footprints are located in an area called Ballroom something. It's all under water. Take water shoes, water runs knee high in the summer. You'll have to cross the river.
Glen Rose is a bit of a corny town. Dino statues are everywhere Clever idea!
Nice picnic area to eat at.
Bathrooms are decent.
Best to go during the week.
It will take less time to arrive.

We had the best time for my son’s 3rd birthday!! He loved all of the different activities. Loved the two different fossil digs and the playground had stuff he’d never seen before that challenged him! He also spent a good amount of time feeding the fish. This place is just too too cute. Wish they had a 3-day pass option for those who are not local!

🦖Family Fun Day, in Glen Rose TX @Dinosaur World with My Daughter and 5 grandchildren who love everything Dinosaurs, until my 3yr old grandson got the opportunity to see them up close and in person, and he was sure that they were going to eat him 🙂🤨😂. As terrible as that sounds, we had a great time. He cried on the way in, and cried when we left because he wants to go back again 🤷🏽👌🏾✨. They have a splash park, an animated museum, a train 🚂 ride, a dinosaur trail that makes for a great learning experience, and exercise, a nice pond with fish and turtles that I'm sure you can feed, and from the looks of it, they fish and turtle knew that we could feed them as well, as you can see in the video the minute we walked up, they all came to the surface. There was so much to see, that we will definitely be going back again 🦕.
Listen , i give nothing but honest reviews so take a second and read what I have to say about this place. This place is great for your first time going, but if you live in the area and go more than once, hoping that just maybe they will come up with some more exciting ideas instead of some worn painted slightly damaged dinosaurs then you would have spent waaaayy to much money yet again and will be highly disappointed unfortunately. Although I will say, we went recently sept 9th 2025 for my son's birthday and they did have a little water park for the kids to cool off in after the short circle walk looking at the dinosaurs, oh! And they did have a pterodactyl in the museum area, a squeaky one displayed lol! I dont know if this is government funded , which would make sense for how poorly its ran. Customer service is way below average , they are worried about you stepping over the stupid ropes so you dont touch the idiotic skeletons laying all over the place smh. Do you remember the movie "land of the lost" with will Ferrell when he goes to that run down "amusement park" and he goes to another dimension? Well this place and its employees are not far off, all I was missing was his tachyon amplifier and i was set lmao! Go once but never again , in my opinion, its not worth the 100's of dollars you will spend on the tickets, train ride, gift shop and everything else they will try and charge you for .
If you like dinosaurs, you will absolutely love this place! They have life-size dinosaurs, you can walk among, an animatronic museum, a dig sight, a park and a gift shop. Its so much fun for kids of all ages! Adult kids too!
Took my 3 year old and he loved it. My only complaint is it's pretty pricey for what it is and general admission doesn't pay for some of the activities, like the train ride or fossil dig. The dinosaurs were the best we've seen at similar attractions. For general admission and the train ride it was $86 for two adults and one child. If we lived closer I think the annual pass would be a better deal.
Over priced general admission, you have to pay extra per person for a train ride, a dig and some other activity. We payed nearly $100 for 3 adults and 2 children. The splash pad is a makeshift 15x15 area with water sprinklers and an electric cord right next to it supplying electricity to some fans on the other side of the sidewalk. The dinosaur information plaques on the trail are half erased. The playground has half of its jungle gym closed off.
You're probably better off going half a mile down the road to the State Park.
This place was awesome! We stumble upon it on our way back to Austin. It was not planned, but we will most definitely plan a trip here to look at the fossil trails.
We had a good time! The grounds are well-kept and workers are kind. They had it decorated for Halloween. Overall it was a good experience. I do think it’s expensive for what it is. It’s close to the price of an amusement park ticket.

Very informative an eye opener. We go there from time to time and this time we learn about the Texas Dinosaur! So beautiful! We also learn about excavations and scientific evidence that are new. I can’t wait to see the replica of the last Jewish Temple.

So happy to see a dinosaur museum that talked about the Bible. I learned more from talking with the man Terry that does the kids' short class than walking around because my kids would barely let me look. The Noah's ark was so neat, and the things that they are doing there is amazing. Wish there was a walking path to the big dinos to talk pictures.
Attempted to visit while stopping at the nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park. Unfortunately, it is not open on Tuesdays, when we were there. I have been to the Creation Museum in Kentucky, and this appears to be smaller than that museum, from the building size. I hope that it is making a great impact on people.
This was a huge blessing to my family!!! We visited family in Waco and took the trip to see the dinosaur footprint fossils and stopped at CEM first. We spent about 2 hours here and barely scratched the surface of the amounts on information contained in this museum. It's a blessing they thoughtfully placed it just before the Dinosaur State Park. This will boost your faith in Christ and expose a non-believer to new thoughts.
Overall good experience. Creation from a Christian perspective and about as systematically scientific fact based as non religious archeological museums.
My wife and I was expecting a real museum.
But this it not a museum. It is an exhibit of mixed real and fantasy things. Not evidence based explanations.
So visit here if you want to be somewhat entertained by the non-fact based explanations or find a real museum somewhere else.
I definitely recommend this place to everyone, they gave a very detailed and entertaining fossil presentation. They also have a great selection of books and the friendliest staff to help you with anything
Great little museum! There is a lot to see with some unique and historical items. Very awesome to see and hear about scientific evidence proving creation. One of the scientists was sweet and talked to us about their current experiments and projects. Worth stopping if you have the time!!

We have passed by the big cup so many times! Stopped in last time through glen rose and was absolutely blown away! Breakfast all day. Hand battered chicken fried steak, eggs cooked medium well and the biggest biscuit I have ever seen. Food was delicious served hot and fresh. Such a great meal at the right price! Big Cup is our every time stop when in glen rose! Burger was so delicious !

I’m not exactly sure what has happened with this place but we go here quite often and it has steadily gone downhill. Today we were quickly seated and quickly given our drinks and quickly were able to give our food order but then it took 40 minutes for a simple omelette and club sandwich to be brought to our table. The omelette was room temperature and then our waiter disappeared until he brought the check. Two other couples in the restaurant were furious with the same service and one of those couples got up and left because it took so long for their food to be brought out. It’s really sad, we love this place, but we definitely will not be back near as often if at all.
We got to go to the Big Cup Eatery on the day we left Oakdale RV Park which lays claim to having the biggest biscuits in Texas. Well, how could I not try one of those?
I ordered the Southern Plate which incorporates said gigantic biscuit and I can attest to the sheer size of this thing. The dish includes two eggs, hash browns and country sausage gravy in a big pile of carbohydrates. And I freaking loved it. The flavor was good enough that I didn’t salt it which is saying something.
My better half had the Quesadilla burger which was about $10 and is a big burger in a tortilla. She ordered hers with seasoned fries on the side. Also very good.
The service was friendly and prompt and the food arrived in a timely fashion. I thought the place was clean and friendly and the prices were really fair for all the food we got.
Overall two thumbs up on Big Cup Eatery. Yum-o!
Was seated almost immediately when I arrived for lunch with a friend. Service was pleasant and quick. I had fried catfish with french fries and the catfish was VERY GOOD! The meal included two fillets and a generous portion of fries that were tasty. My friend had shrimp tacos which he enjoyed and our total bill was $28 but with both only had water. The atmosphere was fine, nothing upscale but very comfortable and clean. Highly recommend
Stopped in to try and find something new for breakfast (and anything actually open on Sunday morning). Drove 40 minutes to try it out, and it was worth it.

Blueberry pancakes were very tasty, and actually cooked all the way through. Batter tasted like it was homemade. Eggs tasted like they were farm fresh.
Egg enchiladas were very good. I was not sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I just wish there had been some spicy salsa or some cremosa.
Breakfast taco was huge. Much larger than I was expected. Very tasty. Again, it just needed some spicy salsa or cremosa.
Definitely a place to come back too.

Big Cup Eatery is one of those hometown gems you just have to love! Their homestyle meatloaf special is amazing — my wife absolutely loves it, and we make a point to stop in whenever it’s on the menu. The food always tastes fresh and homemade, and the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming every time. When they have that meatloaf special, do yourself a favor and go try it — you won’t regret it!

"The Promise in Glen Rose" is a captivating live outdoor musical held at the Texas Amphitheater, featuring a 150-person cast and crew, live animals, and stunning special effects. The performance narrates the life of Jesus Christ with historically accurate costumes and breathtaking lights and sound. Audience members recommend reserved seating for a better view and advise being mindful of photography etiquette during the show.
We went to the last performance of the fall season last night, which also happened to be Cowboy Night.
Parking is free, plentiful, and well-lit.
Gate access is quick - simply give the attendant your order number and you get admitted.
Concessions include usual snacks, plus nachos, loaded nachos - topped with pulled pork, and pulled pork sandwiches.
Small gift shop area with clothing available for purchase.
The program itself is the best part - you are taken on a wonderful journey through the Bible, telling the story of the life of Jesus, the Promise.
Each scene and song will captivate you.

It was the last performance of the spring season and it was absolutely amazing. First, the weather was perfect. Second, the show was a variety of acting, singing, and ballet of sort. It was top notch from start to finish. We will definitely be back for the Christmas show. Lastly a big Thank You to everyone responsible for putting it together. Jesus Lives!!!
What a show. This was the first time seeing a LIVE professional show about Jesus. The actors were amazing, singing, choreography, creative story telling.
We especially loved the back stage passes to see how they make the show happen from props, to animals and even a chance to be on this huge stage.
The food was great. The craft booths decorated like we were back 2000 years. We bought two paintings, hand carved navity that has a music box too.
The staff were warm, they greeted everyone, and were full of energy. I was so glad we came as a family to create this memory.
You don't want to miss out!!!
Absolutely uplifting! From the amphitheater under the beautiful Texas stars to the stars on stage with a cast of 160, it's a performance must see! The musical score, sets, vocalists, special effects were as good as any Broadway show! But most of all, the life story message of salvation of Jesus Christ unfolded seamlessly before your eyes, leaving you feeling like you actually walk with Jesus.
What an amazing time! This is truly texas hidden gem. Sadly, no one knows what will become of it next year. After thirty three years of production next year is uncertain. So go out and enjoy it. This one last time if you haven't enjoyed it yet. This was the first for us

Known about this years ago. The everlasting impression that me and my family will take with us. The story of the potter's clay was one that Gid used to speak to my heart. What an amazing time!
For those that like live theatre and don’t want to drive all the way to Branson to see the sight and sound productions need not go any further than Glen Rose. It is about 1.5 hours from north Dallas. Parking is free! And the show was amazing! We had eaten prior to arriving but snacks and food are available on site. I also saw many people bring in food or small picnic baskets. It is wheelchair accessible and they even have some chairs onsite for those that have a hard time negotiating stairs. When the lights go out, on a clear sky, you’re surrounded by stars. It was so beautiful! If you haven’t had a chance to check out one of their shows, do yourself a favor and get tickets! It’s a great experience!
Had a fantastic time. Yes, it was cold, just prepare for it. Took friends with us. The pageantry was outstanding. Can't wait for the Easter one.

Arrived at 10:17pm on a Saturday night. Waited at the drive through speaker for 3 min and no one answered. The lights inside and out were still on. Drove up to the window and got someone’s attention. They said they were closed. I said that the sign on their window says that they were open until 1030 and she said it was wrong. Would not let us order ice cream. The front of the store also said 1030 as well as Google. Horrible customer service. Sonic got our business instead.
i absolutely love the dairy queen in glen rose. it’s always clean and great food. i normally don’t ever enjoy dinner here, just a lunch or evening food (meaning never past 8pm), but being pregnant makes you eat at super weird times. my husband ordered the smaller blizzard, which the worker replied a mini, and my husband said great. we also order a chicken strip basket and i ordered a taco salad with chicken. the taco salad is my go to. the wait was 20 minutes in total (weird, ive never waited this long especially with little cars parked and no one behind us in the drive), they have us pull around the front to wait. while waiting, 3 young girl workers are laughing it up in the parking lot, which irritates me a little because why were we waiting so long when there were definitely able bodies to help. we receive our food with no blizzard. we ask for it and he said it wasn’t on the receipt. waited 5 minutes for them to find the receipt. the blizzard was never added and we would have to go through the drive again to reorder after the gentlemen on the speaker already confirmed we wanted a mini blizzard… said no thanks and went on with our night. while eating my food, i noticed that there was no beans on the bottom (they usually coat the taco shell in beans and add the fixings on top). NOPE. just HARD chunks of beans scooped on top of the lettuce, almost in the shape of a spoon. super gross.
They are not changing out the oil in their fryer. Purchased steak fingers & fries to go. Food was rancid and we had to throw it out. Unfortunately I ate one steak finger and a few fries. I had cramps and nausea for 2days. I won’t be able to eat DQ for a long time if ever. We stop here about 6 times a year and have seen food quality decline but I can say with confidence they have hit bottom.
This Dairy Queen is definitely a Texas classic. Very much a hometown establishment. I used to take my nail adult sons here when they were small children before or after we would go exploring the dinosaur Valley State park and the Paluxy river. It always has the vibe of a popular gathering place for people in Glen Rose. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always very friendly. Plus, if you want to blow any diet, you may be on completely out of the water, you can always get some of their frozen treats out of the freezeron a hot summers day.
I have not experienced a pleasant fast food in a very long time. This experience was absolutely amazing. The food was fresh and delicious thw staff was so very friendly thank you for the wonderful experience today!!
The problem with this DQ once served some great Tacos. The Tacos served on this visit. Where smaller with less meat,lettuce and three diced pieces of a tomato and 5 grated pieces of cheese.

A very nice Dairy Queen in the best spot for access coming from the river, Dinosaur Valley SP or Fossil Rim. Great place to get a refreshing snack.

Massey's BBQ, located in Glen Rose, Texas, has quickly gained popularity since its opening in 2024. The spacious interior features multiple dining areas and large windows. Guests have praised the friendly and helpful staff as well as the owner's warm hospitality.
Went there a few days ago, and the outside is really attractive. They clearly put a lot into this place. The service was very good, the employees are well trained. Our food came out quickly. We chose to sit in the large room our back since it was a nice day. This place has two pickleball courts and a basketball court. There's a stage inside the huge dining area, great for gatherings like a reunion or band. A youth outing would be awesome here. There are heaters in there for when it gets cooler, too.
The husband had the ribs, and I had a sliced beef sandwich. I forgot the camera until I had ¾ of it gone

Bottom line will always be food. Brisket was dry and flavorless. You could taste smoke only. The BBQ sauce was not good. Maybe it was a bad day but the most prominent parts of any BBQ joint were not good at all. The smoked Mac and cheese had zero smoke. It was an over priced ($4.95) small side of regular Mac and cheese.
Now the ribs were decent. Not a ton of flavor but very tender and pulled off bone properly.
To the owner, check your sauce. Something was in there and it's ok to season up brisket.
Have to say I was disappointed. This place was highly recommended. First - very friendly staff& really cool atmosphere. Plenty of seating with tvs indoor & out.
However, I ordered the brisket tacos & smoked Mac & cheese. The m&c was fine. The brisket tacos were very dry. If it wasn’t for the bbq sauce- I would not have eaten them.
So I can recommend this place - but that’s only my opinion.
Our experience in this restaurant was amazing!!!! Very friendly staff and very delicious food. We were in the outdoor area and the live music was a bonus.
WOW this place is wonderful. The hospitality is over the top they make you feel like you’re eating at a friends house or family. The food was wonderful best brisket I’ve ever had the french fries are hand cut in. The onion rings are freshly made. Everything is fresh, homemade and ready for you to enjoy if you don’t stop here or try it out yourself. I went yesterday for the first time, amazing! Such a nice hide away with fantastic service and food. Jeff Burns was playing while I was there, it was a great addition to an outstanding place. I had the brisket and onion rings, the onion rings are the best I have ever had: large coated perfectly and perfectly served. I loved the brisket, and ordered a quarter pound, I couldn't eat it all, I brought some home for more deliciousness.
Jalapeño sausage was bland and served cold very slimy texture.
Burnt ends weren’t burnt at all, seemed like 4 chunks of fat sliced right off the brisket.
Green beans were ok but had hard stalks throughout.
Pinto beans had zero flavor.
Massey’s Mess (Frito Pie) has no chili just whatever meat you choose.
The Philly was lackluster.
Draft beers served in plastic mugs 😑
$80 before tip, pretty disappointed overall.
Sweet tea was good if you’re into that, but it’s not hard to make that.
Food runner took our number after bringing one item out then they couldn’t find our table to serve us for 20mins. Worst jalapeño sausage I’ve ever had. Lastly nothing was served with any BBQ sauce, and I didn’t see any on any tables or near the condiments.
Went to Massey’s Glen Rose today for dinner. My husband ordered chopped brisket, turkey, and bologna with a side of mac and cheese. I had the loaded nachos with pulled pork. Overall we thought everything tasted good. The turkey was our favorite, not dry with good flavor.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner, Todd, was there greeting everyone and shaking hands. The Glen Rose hospitality that made me fall in love with this little town.
We will definitely be going back again in the future.

Nestled conveniently off the main highway, Glen Rose Coffee Company stands out as one of the town's two charming coffee shops. With ample indoor seating, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to unwind, work remotely, or simply savor a delicious cup of coffee paired with delightful food options. While I only indulged in their homemade pop tart during my visit—an absolute treat—I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on their menu.
We all ordered the Honey Bee latte, made three ways, one-pump, iced, and hot. It was delicious. Also enjoyed avocado toast, with added hard boiled egg and a slice of bacon. The hard boiled egg is a simple protein more coffee shops should add to their menu! The service was great. We will definitely stop in next time we’re in town!!

Glen Rose Coffee Co was our first stop of the day before visiting creatures of the past and wildlife of the present.
There is a lovely mural on the side of the building and what seems to be a new logo.
Inside is very clean and modern. A nice, cool spot to chill and sip on coffees before or after you Glen Rose adventures.
I was able to chat with the owner a little bit and the service was amazing! On top of that, our coffees were delicious and quenched our caffeine needs for the day. I'll definitely be back for more!
My husband and I stopped here on our way home after camping in Dinosaur Valley State Park and our only regret is not stopping sooner. The coffees were perfectly crafted and the breakfast food items (breakfast burrito and croissant breakfast sandwich) were perfectly made. Baristas were super friendly and attentive. Would recommend to everyone passing through
We have been to lots of coffee shops in DFW, Austin, Louisiana etc, but we absolutely fell in love with the unique menu, customer service, and cozy vibe of this Glen Rose Texas Gem. A true definition of Texas hospitality. Make sure to include a space in your itinerary for a quick stop by this coffee shop!

We came to Glen Rose visiting family. My husband and I got the breakfast burritos, he got the turtle dove blended latte and I got the dark chocolate mocha latte. First off the burritos were amazing. The tots with the egg and salsa, such a great combo! We have been to many coffee shops around the country, and this one is at the top of the list! This is hands down the best mocha I have ever had, no joke. For the blended latte, we always complain that it is a milkshake in a cup but this actually tasted like coffee but had a good balance of sweet. Whenever I visit family again; I will definitely come back!
Great service, amazing food and staff is super kind. Best cinnamon rolls, no other coffee shops can come close. I’m pick AF 🤩.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Hammond's BBQ. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

It was a lot of fun. I got to see animals I've never seen before. My only feedback is make the entrance two lanes or control the traffic coming in because it was horrible. Also there was a lot of missing animals and even if there isn't enough staff just having one engaged staff is a big plus already. The animal exhibit at the far far end was lonely per say, crickets... Lots of good stuff inside. I suppose I can't blame the guy for just sitting at his desk. Overall the tour guides did a great job. Take the bus not your car, it's worth the extra money. Oh can y'all get cushion seats for the tour bus please
This place is definitely worth the drive. A lot of animals and you can feed them all except the rhinos and cheetahs. The giraffe will stick their heads in your car to eat the food so dont have them waiting too long lol. Customer service at the gate was great. Gift shop super expensive. 5 stars!!!!!
Cool place to go with your family, we've been 3 times now and the drive there is almost 2 hours away from home BUT its worth the drive. Id recommend driving your personal car instead of doing the tour bus. Tour bus is uncomfortable and there's rules in place for touching animals etc. Take your personal car thru and experience it at your pace. Tour guides were nice and informative but not worth the extra price for those tickets.
Was super fun and animals were great, graffes were fabulous feeding them by hand was great experience. Could have better advertised all the stuff that you can do at the halfway point, the petting area and tortoises were a bit of from the main area but once found great to see. Didn't bring proper footwear for the hikes but if we go back would do the hikes as well.
Awesome! Amazing! So much fun! I laughed so hard I cried. We did the self drive tour. It took almost 3 hours, with a break in the middle. Watch out for the Ostrich at the entrance he’s not afraid to get his own food from your bag.
We love going to Fossil Rim! We have been coming here for over 5 yrs and have been members for many years. It's so peaceful and a lovely getaway. The animals are so precious and friendly. I love seeing all of them. Going earlier in the day is best because the animals start to take a nap closer to closing time. We have seen lots of giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, deers, water bucks, turkeys, goats, turtles, salamanders, rhinos, emus, ostriches, and so many more animals. They have a gift shop, restaurant, & nature center when you're about halfway through the park. I would highly recommend going to Fossil Rim if you love animals.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is an absolute must-visit! 🦒🐐 From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience for the kids and adults alike. The drive-through safari was incredible — getting up close to giraffes, zebras, and so many other animals was pure magic. The kids were in awe the entire time, especially when feeding the animals right from the car.
The petting zoo was another highlight — goats, pig,turtles and other friendly critters kept the little ones smiling from ear to ear. Everything was well-maintained, staff were friendly, and the animals looked healthy and happy.
If you’re looking for a fun, educational, and interactive day with the family, Fossil Rim is the place to go. The kids are already asking when we can come back!

My request was chicken marsala, more than delicious. Don’t forget to ask for princess martini 😊

Picked this place by chance and am so glad we did! Went in for lunch and had the chicken salad sandwich, with the fries. I opted to upgrade to the truffle fries with aioli! So worth it!

Four of us went on a Saturday at around 12:30. I realize this is a busy time, but parking is pretty horrendous. It’s a gravel parking lot with lots of really rough areas and you have to kind of end up parking on the grass, because there’s no street parking available. We had gone down for a festival, and our relatives came from Oklahoma as well. The house is charming and the wraparound porch would be fun to sit on, but there were no tables available at all at that time of day. We were seated by the door, which wasn’t bad, And our waiter was very courteous. However, the wait for food was at least 40 minutes after we ordered. That seems a little bit long even with a busy Saturday. I ordered catfish which I expected to be excellent and it was a good piece of fish, and crispy, but the batter was way too salty. The tartar sauce tasted like mayo, just mayo. The coleslaw was blah. I would not eat either of those again. French fries were good. The guys had hamburgers and both loved them. They also enjoyed the fries. The other female at our table had the special, which was a shrimp salad with five pieces of shrimp. She enjoyed it. She also had a mimosa, which was pretty good. So, the main stars off are for the horrible wait, the not so great parking, and the food not being up to par from what you would expect when a restaurant says it’s a four-star restaurant. We would go back, but perhaps at a less busy time. And for those who do not know, they are closed between two and five, so be sure and plan accordingly. Hope this helps someone.😎
Today was our first visit and what a great place! Ariana was our server and she was awesome! She was friendly, explained all the specials and checked on us often. She was a true joy with excellent customer service. We had the blue cheese burgers and fries. They were delicious! Made perfectly! Ariana made a very good drink as well. The atmosphere is wonderful, soft lighting and soft jazz music. We hope to come back again very soon. I would suggest reservations on the weekend since they have limited seating.
What an unexpected surprise! I was traveling through the area and stumbled across this gem. I was instantly in love when I walked in due to the casual elegance of the place, which was only surpassed by the food. Having lived in NYC for 30 years I have had some amazing food. This place ranked right up there with the best of them. Good, clean simple food full of flavor but not over done. Our server, Sherry, was also terrific. She was very friendly and fun and seemed to enjoy serving us. This restaurant is perfect. I wish I could take it with me.
This was a relatively nice place to stop. We sat on the patio and even though it was a warm day, it really wasn’t bad at all, apart from the flies🪰. We liked the atmosphere here, and our server Lucy was very friendly. The place is very homey. The food wasn’t the best, and the steaks we had weren’t really seasoned. The mashed potatoes were delicious but the veggies were just ok. The portion for the price was just ok as well. There aren’t many options for kiddos, so if you have kiddos, keep that in mind (I think it was just grilled cheese, corn dog, or penne pasta). All in all, it was mid for us.
Loved this atmosphere! Unfortunately the food, not so much. The steaks are frozen, the mashed potatoes boxed, the vegetables undercooked. I was really excited to try this place and expected so much more with the food. At $35 for a steak, I didn't expect it to be frozen, I expected fresh. Saddened that I could have made the same dish at home. However, I loved the vibe, the atmosphere, the service, it made the trip well worth it.
An oasis! Great service, pleasant staff, sat on the porch, perfect.
Wasn't crazy about the squash ravioli, however. Came soaked in olive oil... didn't sit well with me at all. A friend ordered the same... same thoughts about the dish.
We'll give it another try, however, as it may have been that one item we didn't care for.
The experience makes me want to visit again.

Seen this place on instagram and had to come chit out. I loved the pickle theme everywhere. The food was amazing and Fred made to order. The service was great and everyone was on point. This will be a regular stop when we go through Glen Rose in the future.

We came here looking for a restaurant for our family dinner after hiking at dinosaur state park. Everyone loved their dinners! We started with fried pickles, you can tell the pickles were made from high qaulity cucumbers, they were thick cut and a little spicy. The kids had Chicken Tenders and Corn dog, my wife had the Chicken Pita and I had a Patty Melt. All the food was fresh and the service was great! We even treated ourselves to a brownie with a scoop of ice cream. I highly recommend this stop!

Over all the whole experience was great. Our burger tasted good, but I wish there was some seasoning on the meat and the bun wasn’t strong enough for the weight of the burger. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and attentive. No complaints. The fried pickles were hot and delicious and the ranch was especially good - thick and creamy.
PS - It did take some time for the food to arrive but as the sign says, this is not a fast food restaurant. Please be patient, it is worth it!
Went on Mothers Day after so many people saying it's a great place. Great maybe if you just got out of the Pen. after doing a life sentence. Even then I don't know. We were the 1st people in, they sit you without silverware, no big deal until you get your coffee, and have to wait for the server to come back to ask for a spoon to stir it. The server got my Mothers order wrong and then argued with her. The fries were oily and greasy, the Phili cheese steak literally was the size of a hot dog bun and flavorless without ranch. The best thing was the onion rings but they're literally a dollar piece, 10 bucks 10 onion rings.
Food was great but prices charged on bill where high than listed on the menu. (See pictures) Also they up charged for just about everything. $1 for 1000 island dressing for a salad? $1 for jalapeño toast, $5 for onion rings with a meal instead of fries? This would be fine if mention, owner/manager claimed new prices went effect Friday and new menus will be printed Monday. Today is Sunday.
I always have high expectations when it's a restaurant with the biggest SELLING POINT is their pickles. Went in and was NOT disappointed. There food combos are what I didn't think I needed. And Of Course the fried pickles that they say are a must try Are Absolutely a MUST TRY!! Amazing place will have to go again the next time I'm going through
I eat here every chance I get. My favorite is the grilled chicken sandwich. It’s always juicy and tender. The fresh cut fries are amazing! We have always had wonderful service and the facility is very clean.
Great burgers! Our group had several different burgers and the chicken fry. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was top notch. It was a very slow night for them.

While they serve Blue Bell ice cream instead of housemade, the place is definitely worth a visit for its adorable ambiance.
This is such a beautiful little place. It has old school fashioned ice cream and floats. I had a banana split and it was everything I wanted! The store reminds me of an older all in one shop. It is decorated like a malt shop from the 50’s. There is so much to look at and buy here from miniature toys to bee’s wax products to t shirts. There is a little bit of everything for everyone to see while you wait for your delicious ice cream. When we got there we saw a sign that they were understaffed but this did nothing to the quality and speed of our orders. The two ladies working there were friendly, attentive, professional and courteous. We enjoyed talking to them. This is definitely a place i highly recommend.

Order when you walk in! It takes a while to get your food, but it's good! I had the Buddy Holly on sourdough, and my kids only had the pb&j. But no one left anything on their plate. Super cute shop with stools and a couple of tables. Lots of old times, candy and toys and clothes, and so much more to look at while you wait. A wonderful stop to eat and refresh after a hot morning at Big Rocks Park!
Absolutely loved this adorable old fashioned ice cream and trinket shop! It's so cute and the homemade waffle cones were incredible! The lady that was working was wonderful (deserves a raise for sure). She was so nice and had excellent customer service skills! Sat there much longer than I had originally planned and just chatted with her. Will definitely stop by next time we come to town!

An old 1950s style shop playing music from the 50s and 60s, A sweet elder couple, runs the shop. The ice cream was off the chart good, The toys in the shop are cool, saw some candy I have not seen in 30 years there. Overall sweet atmosphere, 27$ for a banana split, 2 scoop ice cream cup, 1 banana pudding shake medium and one harmonica and one bottle water. I thought the price was reasonable. Everything was clean, neatly priced and I can see some unique Christmas ideas here too.
Friendly, ice cream(blue bell) and homemade sodas, also gift shop. We had 4 icecreams with toppings, a homemade root beer soda and toffee candy. $25.parking downtown Glen Rose.

Loved this ice cream parlor! I felt like I had traveled back into time with the way everything was set up. I absolutely loved the Dr. pepper float! It was so delicious and probably the best floats I have tasted in a very long time. If you’re ever visiting Glenrose this place should be on your list!
My son and I had a fantastic time here! There were so many options at the soda fountain to choose from. The staff explained everything thoroughly and encouraged us to take our time to make a great choice. They were enjoyable to talk to and incredibly kind to my son. The ice cream was delicious, and I also found a Father’s Day gift for my husband while we were there. It has a great vibe, and I can't wait to come back!
Wonderful quaint ice cream and novelty shop in historic Glen Rose, Texas. Took grandkids in fir ice cream treat and they made the boys feel super special. Daughter bought a jar of spicy pickles and went back for more the next day. Not just a sweets shop. ALL kinds of novelty items to shop for.

Our family visited Glen Rose because the kids were eager to check out the Dinosaur Park, and of course, they were craving pizza. After some searching, we stumbled upon La Vita Pizzeria. The place itself has some charm—an old Coke factory with a bit of history behind it, which gave it character.
We placed our order and were served some rolls to start. We were hungry and couldn’t wait to dive into the meal. However, our youngest noticed something in the bread and asked us to take it off. Upon closer inspection, we were horrified to find a fly baked right into the roll. 🤢
We immediately called the waitress over and showed her. She took the bread back to the kitchen, and about 10 minutes later, she brought us a fresh batch. At that point, we were ready to walk out, but the kids were still really excited for their pizza and they were hungry, so we decided to stay.
Sadly, the food didn’t get any better. My wife ordered the shrimp Florentine , but what arrived looked more like tomato soup with some pasta and shrimp floating in it. As for the Stromboli I ordered, it was bland and lacked flavor, with barely any sausage inside.
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are plenty of other spots to try in Glen Rose.

Definitely needs a face lift and some pride! Where are the owners ? Flies , dirty tables, dirty floors etc. the kids working just need a role model they were trying! This place could be a landmark if the food was better and cleaner! Until this place learns self care, Go to pinstripes!
We have been here before but tonight was not a good experience. Table and chairs not clean, a/c not on or not working, and flies. Poor service, only one waitress. Food slow to serve, salads, and food over cooked or had been sitting a while. Waitress never came back and when we tried to get her attention she said to wait. No check delivered, we had to go to the counter. Would like a better experience for the square, unfortunately this is not it. Hopefully they will improve and update.
The pizza was great, and the garlic rolls were delicious. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t the best. It seemed like they might have been short-staffed because we waited quite a while for our drinks. I even had to go up to get a refill myself. We also had to ask for the check instead of it being brought to us, which made it take longer to leave.
The nasty restaurants I've ever been too. They had fruit Flys everywhere and tge floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in years. The food is ok, but the place is so dirty you can't enjoy anything

We stopped in for a big BBQ spread and walked away seriously impressed. The brisket and ribs were the stars—tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. Fried okra was perfectly crispy and clearly fresh, and the potato salad nailed that perfect creamy-tangy balance.
Other sides like mac & cheese and elotes were solid, but the main hits stole the show.
Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming—exactly what you hope for in a small-town BBQ joint. If you’re near Glen Rose, Hammond’s is absolutely worth the stop.

Brisket was way too lean and dry. Pulled pork was better and the pork ribs were good. The fried okra tasted like it had been cooked twice and was overcooked. Potato salad was good as were the sweet potato fries.
I've been gling here for the past 4 years..Great stop, cool venue, nice staff.... I had the baked potato loaded, with sliced brisket... They gave me slices from the point, which produced good texture, moisture and bark... A very solid BBQ spot.... If you want to be impressed, stay away from the sides, just get the brisket and ribs [not the sausage]

I'm a coffee person, but now, I might be more serious about texas bbq & brisket.
This was advertised at Fossil Rim and I was definitely hungry! Read reviews and landed in the parking lot pretty quickly.
We went at an off-peak time so there was no wait. This isn't counter service. We immediately sat at out table and got to ordering and our food was served quickly after that.
The reviews weren't wrong! The brisket was juicy! I appreciate that I got to choose if I wanted marbled or lean.
Our waitress was amazing and friendly and I can't wait to return!
Excellent BBQ! I was hoping to find some nice Texas BBQ while visiting. Open since 1966! Portions are as great as the price. I had the "child size bbq plate" for like $10 and it was a nice size unch! The ribs were so satisfying. The staff were so nice. It was very busy about 1:30p on a Saturday but worth it.

We spent $55 for our ribs and brisket to come out cold and dry. It tasted like it was made yesterday and microwaved. Even the bone was cold, so it was definitely in the fridge. The server was very friendly and attentive.
The food is great. They may focus on BBQ but they don't ignore the quality on the side dishes.
Don't pass on dessert. In fact I would go just for the desserts.

Just got done spending 3 days at The Inn for a Catholic silent retreat. This was the first time I had done anything like this and I couldn’t have asked for a better venue. Because it was a silent retreat, I didn’t really get to talk to the owners or staff but they were SO incredibly accommodating to our group and friendly throughout. I will definitely be coming back - couldn’t ask for a better place to unwind. The food was spectacular, too. The lemon tres leches cake was one of the best things I have ever eaten and will be a taste that I will spend a long time searching for. Room was extremely comfortable (bed was 1000000x more comfortable than modern hotel - even the sheets and pillows were luxurious).

Our stay at Inn on the River was just what we needed. The location is superb, right on the river (hence, the name), and the ambience was perfect. Pam's cooking was just right, and the attentiveness and hospitality of the rest of the staff that we encountered were great, especially Ryman and Ursa! The room looked out on the garden and was so peaceful, with all of the amenities that we needed. The only reason we gave it 4 stars is that it was rather small, as is to be expected in this case. We can't wait to return for another visit.
Stayed here in March for a retreat and I am completely plant based (vegan) and the owner made sure I had amazing meals. I was told they regularly serve vegans and have these items available for non organized events. The rooms were nice and the location was amazing and most importantly calm and relaxing. I would take regular walks along the river and enjoy the scenery. Traveling with my dietary restrictions is difficult and usually bland. The food here was some of the best plant based food I have had in the US. She took it as a challenge to make me amazing items. The service here was top notch.

We got the suite with two rooms and it was plenty of space for four people and two dogs. Which they were also very accommodating of; I appreciate how welcoming they are of pets as this eases the hurdles and anxiety of traveling with them.
Overall a great experience, a beautiful spot, and I will definitely recommend and come back!
We had a one night stay and really enjoyed the property! We had lunch at the tavern it was excellent. So close to all to do in town great shopping. We also enjoyed evening drinks in the tavern and a nice breakfast at the inn the next morning. Room was clean and cute service was excellent and property beautiful! Will definetely go again!

For a quiet weekend. The staff was very friendly. The location is very pretty. And walking distance to the square. It is a boutique hotel. Our room did not have a tv and that was a good thing. Snyder's tavern, It's located on the property and has excellent food and an extensive menu. You can have drinks and look out over the river.
We had a nice relaxing stay at Inn on the River, cozy comfy bed, great food at Snyder's, a sweet dog to pet, beautiful trees to relax under, quiet and pleasant! We were also glad there weren't TV's in the rooms or the lobby. We were more engaged with other patrons and the owner by not watching the tube and had some great conversations!
Walking into this place was like walking into a family reunion where you’re the ex that nobody wanted to see. We arrived with more than an hour before closing — plenty of time, right? Wrong. The owner (yes, the OWNER, not just a grumpy server having a bad day) greeted us with the kind of hospitality you’d expect at the DMV:
“I’m just going to tell you right now, it’s going to take a long time to get your food.”
Wow. Thanks, buddy. Nothing makes me want to sit down and hand you my money more than being pre-scolded before I even touch a menu. Forget “Welcome to Inn On The River!” — here it’s “Prepare to suffer.”
The vibe screamed, “You’re a burden, please leave.” Honestly, if they hated the idea of customers that much, they should’ve just hung up a sign:
CLOSED — But only to people who actually want to eat here.
We didn’t even bother staying to test the food. Maybe it’s edible, maybe it’s cardboard. Doesn’t matter — when the first impression is “you’re ruining my night,” the appetite dies faster than a mosquito in winter.
If you want to feel unwanted, go visit your in-laws. If you want dinner, go literally anywhere else.

We were looking for a fine dining experience to celebrate my husband's birthday, but didn't want to go into Fort Worth. I was initially surprised to hear about WhiskeyWoods when I saw it was in Glen Rose, but the picture of the restaurant and food looked great. There are different menus depending on if you sit in the dining room vs. the bar area, but I was told there are regular tables available in the bar area as well. We chose the dining room. Our server was wonderful; I felt like he was reading my mind! Every time I'd decide on an item, he'd come over to the table and recommend that same item, so I had confidence in my decision. The food was wonderful. It's a bit pricey, but we had an appetizer, two half salads, entrees, drinks, and dessert. It's a nice place to go out for a big celebration

Happy Anniversary, Mr&Mrs Hayes! And this made is complete. Jeni our server was amazing. The bootleger salad was great. Scallops cooked perfect and the sauce, Well lets say they could put that on everything!! Yum! My husband's steak was the melt in your mouth perfect! The potatoes were so light & fluffy. Great cocktails and food in a relaxed yet stylish spot. The bartender is very good and knowledgeable. The bar has a good selection. Food wise, the quail wrapped in bacon is fantastic. Must try. The raw oysters may not be in the regular menu, but the chef was kind to us and served us raw oysters.
We got the steak filet that was perfectly cooked with a wine reduce sauce. It was delicious, but could have cooked longer because it had a strong alcohol taste to it. The scallops were also delicious and cooked perfectly. The drinks were good, server was great, and the lay out was very chill. Definitely recommend this place. It would be better if they had more than 3 steak options since they’re called a steak house.

We went there on a Saturday night. They were busy, we came in a little early for our reservation, and they already had our table available and waiting on us. From the hostess, to our waiter, Jake, to the manager, they were beyond professional. The food and the presentation were incredible. Can’t wait to go back with another set of friends. Here are the items we ordered, braised short ribs, Mediterranean style Chilean Seabass, and the filet.

Edit: October of 2023… had their breakfast for the first time and it was as amazing as everything else! They had a gluten free bun which made it possible for me to enjoy a sandwich like everyone else! I APPRECIATE that so much!
This place was great. We went in for a late breakfast, the coffee was amazing, one of the best coffees I've ever had. We also ordered the club sandwich and it was delicious. The place is so cute with beautiful decor and great atmosphere.
So precious inside, with such a kind staff! I’m more of a matcha girlie, and it’s usually the hardest to find; to my very pleasant surprise, they had multiple flavors!! I opted to try my first blueberry matcha, with lavender added (a personal fav to match w matcha)— it’s delicious!! 💜

Fantastic coffee location. We frequent Glen Rose often enough that I’ve lamented their lack of a solid coffee place, so I was pleased after our visit of Grounded. Plenty of space (not evening including the study areas and meeting rooms outside the main cafe area). Solid coffee drinks with a good menu. Non-coffee drinks will rejoice with there other beverage options, and I love that they have a salad bar at lunch time—would make a great location for working an extended amount of time. Plus you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought and effort into the aesthetics of the location, as well as very professional and personable staff.
Loved this little place so much! So cute, love the Christian vibes, and the espresso was SO good! Best iced latte I’ve ever had. A little pricey (at least to me) but I enjoyed it very much and will try to go once more before we leave town. Highly recommend this local place!

The employees were nice I will say. The food and coffee might have been some of the worst I’ve gotten from a coffee shop. No exaggeration and I’ve tried a lot. The coffee had more syrup than anything that was a bitter drink- threw it away. The croissant was hard enough to ricochet off the wall and the bacon was so burnt it almost disintegrated before my eyes. Don’t know that I will give this place another try as $20 was in the trash really quick

Went on a morning trail walk and then had a picnic. Perfect weather, relaxing nature sounds, beautiful scenery, and it even felt like we had the whole place to ourselves because we went early on a Monday. It was all just perfect ❤️

Big Rocks Park in Glen Rose is a hidden gem for a laid-back family outing. The shallow river is perfect for kids to splash around, and the massive limestone rocks make it feel like nature’s playground. The sunset views were beautiful, and the whole area felt peaceful and relaxed. One thing to be aware of: we spotted a snake in the water, so stay alert, especially with young kids. Still, it felt safe overall, and the mix of water, rocks, and open space made it a memorable stop. A great spot for a picnic, photos, and cooling off on a hot day.
Not being from the area and arriving after 5pm mid-week, I immediately recognized the river/dam as i passed it, but the parking lot was easy to miss for me. The entrance is right off the main road, sitting close to other fun looking local businesses with a similar large, open, gravel parking lot. Due to our later arrival the empty lots ran together and I missed the turn.
**The parking lot itself is slightly sloped and quite bumpy!! It's primarily made up of dirt and embedded stones rather than loose gravel, giving a more cobblestone feeling. It was fairly level aside from a few small holes and dips from normal traffic wear. My small vehicle got in and out with no problem but do be sure to drive slowly and keep eyes on the road, especially if in a car low to the ground.
The park seemed smaller than I expected but still a beautiful area! There were some bits of litter here and there that were likely carried off by the wind and got trapped between the rocks, but the park was generally clean. The surrounding nature looked nice and healthy, water was clear and clean. Fish, deer, birds/cranes, along with other little critters were out and about. It was so beautiful and relaxing, we're excited to go back and stay longer next time!
The water depth is very shallow. Too shallow to really swim in if an adult. Very rocky near the river. No shade anywhere. The rocks and sand are quite hot in the summer.

Oakdale Park, established in 1925, is a popular camping and RV facility located just minutes away from Glen Rose, Texas. It serves as the official campground for various events such as the Extreme Cowboy competition. The park offers a range of accommodation options including cabins of different sizes and RV spots. Visitors can enjoy amenities like a pool and easy access to the Paluxy River.
We always have a great time at Oakdale RV Park. We have an annual Halloween campout for Sisters on the Fly called Boos & Broomsticks.
The sights are plenty long, lots of trees, and adorable pool that dates back at least to the 50s.
The staff is very friendly and courteous. So helpful to those of us experiencing issues or need help.
Every year we decorate our campers for Halloween and have a blast performing our "Witch Dance" in the parking lot. The Casino is a great place to gather and hold group meetings.

This is a great RV park around of very nice pool with a lot of other activities for the whole family. We took our new trailer here for our shakedown cruise, it's only about an hour and a half west of Dallas. Access is good, there are a lot of pull through spaces, full hookups, the power and water are good and stable. The park is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. Live music, a nice fire pit and even pancakes outside on Sunday morning, weather permitting of course.
Right across the street is Big Rocks Park and you're walking distance from downtown Glen Rose. This is truly a jewel in the heart of Texas.
This place used to be the place to go. It's under new management and has become the place where you remember better times. I was there in August '24 the water was green and most people just got in to cool off then left. They took away the diving board which was theain attraction and the simple kiddy slide. Really sad to take my fiance there and not be able to share the same great memories as only a few years ago.
Love Oakdale Park. We only stayed for a night, but we were able to walk into the quaint beautiful town of Rose Glen. In the morning we walked into town again, and we then made our way to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and then Dinosaur State Park. Definitely stop here if you can. It is lovely.
I stayed in a Casita over the weekend and they are very cute. There two full size beds, which would fit a family of four. great property, staff is very friendly! Unfortunately the extension plug blocks did not work and had to use wall plug to chg phone. The casita needs either a sm chest of drawers or something to put ur clothes in but overall a great place!!
My family has been coming to this park for 50+years. This park gives the authentic old school family vacation vibes that everyone from 0-100 years old enjoys. We usually rent a cabin which is great because I can't live without a/c, but we have tent camped as well and there's full camp site amenities. Your kids will have a blast going to big rocks park right across the street and the huge on site swimming pool. I really enjoy the new pool side bar/grill. Whatever your family needs may be you'll be really happy with the amenities provided by the park! Can't wait to come back next year!!

We have our family reunion here every year. Its probably the best place we have ever had it. Staff is friendly. Pool is great. Funky Monkey Shaved Ice right outside the gate. Plenty of RV and camper spots. Cabins are nice and the AC works unlike some places we have been. There are various sized cabins depending on family size. The Paluxy River is right across the street. Speed limit is 5 MPH. Porch lights are automated. There is the occasional food truck that pulls in from time to time. Also there is an awesome playground for kids.

Such a cute little lunch spot! Our family had a great time - my daughter loved her pbj, my chicken salad was amazing and the pickles were so good we got some to go.
Stopped in after a HOT day of hiking and these sandwiches hit the spot! They have gf bread and wraps available. We had the chicken salad sandwich and the triple decker club. Both tasted wonderful and were lightly toasted. It came with chips and sweet pickles. The inside is very cute like something out of a literal storybook. Incredibly kid friendly with tons of toys and kids' books. Including the outside area, there is an abundance of seating options, and the staff was super friendly. We would go back in a heartbeat. Wish we had a place like this by us!
Absolutely legit! Marvelous environment. Fantastic service and food. I had the Ruben Sandwich with Tomato Basil soup… delicious!! My wife had the Greek Chicken Wrap along with soup which she loved as well. Our 3 kiddos had a blast… tons of books to read, tons of games and toys. Highlight was the carousel and spring-horses out front which my 3 kiddos road off into the sunset!! Tons of fun!

We had our lunch in the children's room since we had our grandson with us. We played a few games and enjoyed our time here. I definitely recommend this cafe!
Gluten free bread was great! The pickles they used on the sandwich were top tier! The place was eye candy for my book loving soul! The ladies who helped us were so very sweet!

We enjoyed our stay—it was unique compared to other options, and the kids loved seeing the animals. Visiting during the off-season was great with better prices and fewer crowds.
The host was responsive and helpful online and via text, but we weren’t sure if any staff were present on-site.
*A few areas for improvement:*
- *Gate Access*: The gate was closed when we returned in the afternoon, and we had to text for the code, which was a bit inconvenient.
- *Walking Trails*: Trails were unclear. A closed gate on the road made it hard to get a stroller through, and we had to lift it over. Around the grassy area, there wasn’t a clear path to the Chapel, and we had to crawl through a fence as there was no pedestrian gate. Accessing the river was tricky—no clear path, just a rocky area unsuitable for strollers or kids. We weren’t sure if the river sidewalk was meant to be accessible from the property.
- *Playhouses*: These had some poop and wasp nests, so cleaning them up would make them safer for kids.
- *Goats*: The gate didn’t stay closed, and as first-time visitors, we were nervous about the goats roaming freely. However, the host reassured us when we reached out.
Overall, it was a fun and unique experience, but addressing these issues could make it even better.

Our stay here was amazing! We all enjoyed the farm life experience but my 7yo son absolutely loved it. He loved all the animals, especially the bunnies, he didn't want to leave them and is already asking to come back. The property is beautiful and peaceful, great for families with kids, especially animal lovers. Location is great too. We stayed at the Carriage House which was so cute and cozy and is right next to all the animals. Breakfast in the barn Saturday morning was really good. The couple that takes care of the property was so nice and sweet. Totally recommend this place if you want to unplug and enjoy time with family and nature!
We stayed in the Santa Fe rail car very cool train themed room. Kitchen full-size bathroom had everything we needed or could ask for had a cool little back patio on it to sit out on at night and it was kind of back away from the main entrance so it was very quiet. The staff is super friendly. They were on top of everything we asked they even had some animals on site that you could interact with all around. It was a very cool set up. I only stayed for a weekend, but At some point when I get a chance, I will book a whole week to stay out there. I recommend it to anybody.
Love the peaceful times we've spent there. If ya just need to get away from life and slow down this is your place. You can truly enjoy God's beautiful country and quiet. The animals make it even more special, feels like home only better. This is our second time to stay and the attention to detail in each place is just amazing, fun and interesting. The cost is more then a hotel but knowing it's quiet and so beautiful to get up to makes it worth it. Walking trails, deer, donkey and horses just wraps it all up. I highly recommend this place. We had a wonderful experience here, and we are looking forward to returning again, in the near future. Wonderful, friendly, and quiet. Our trailer was very clean, and well maintained. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a very large, and friendly cat. As we were sitting at the picnic table, we were greeted by two horses, and a donkey. Along with the livestock, a small herd of deer, was grazing in the field, across from us. It was a wonderful way, to decompress, after a very long, and stressful day.
We had the most amazing stay at Country Woods Inn! Our two boys loved all the animals and the location was perfect. We enjoyed time on the river building "damns" and splashing around. You can easily walk to the downtown area to eat and visit some of the shops. Highly recommend Baked for an amazing breakfast or lunch. I do have to say do not come expecting a luxury experience. That's not what this is. This is a farm with some really cool restored historic buildings with so much charm! It has all the basic amenities you need plus so much attention to detail in the decor. Little tip - the goats love the leaves that fall from the tree next to the farmhouse. The will eat them right out of your hand. The little brown goat had so much personality and was so sweet. We would often find him handing out in the art studio waiting for some head scratches. Thank you for the amazing memories!
The Railcar was a train-lovers paradise! The attention to detail was amazing! It was filled with model train cars, train books, and other memorabilia. Our seven-year old grandson was thrilled with our stay. Every convenience was provided including all kitchen appliances and even bath robes for every adult and child for our stay. The setting with deer and other wildlife was beautiful. We will be returning soon!
This was exactly what our family needed and hoped for: a place in nature to explore, relax, enjoy, and play together. The rooms are rustic but comfortable and full of old-timey charm.

OUTSTANDING barbecue bar! We started to kickoff our visit to Glen Rose at another restaurant but THEY WERE CLOSED without telling anyone online. Instead, we found our way to Sexton Mill. Everything here was so great that we'll never go back to that other place! Great beer, a fantastic Long Island Iced Tea, and Isaac made us feel right at home. If you are EVER in Glen Rose and you love barbecue, beer, and incredible loaded baked potatoes, you HAVE to try Sexton Mill!

This restaurant was recommended by a few people in the area. Their food menu is small (not a bad thing). It consists mostly of BBQ. My in laws loved the food. I thought it was decent. The prices were a little high for my tastes.
They have a game room, a patio, and a live stage. They are located on the Brazos River and have a great view of the river from the patio.

I went for a concert. The place is really cool... Right off the Paluxy River. Really nice breeze of the river. We really expected a better variety on the menu. Bbq needs potatoe salad!!! The place was really authentic. They made the old mills into gazebos.
What a great hidden not so little gem!!! Drinks were top notch! Service was even better! Fries were delicious (it’s the only food I ordered since we just stopped for drinks) and I love the atmosphere!!! They even had great merch!!! Nice river scenery!!! I love this place!!!!!!
Great food! Great service! The only down side is it’s not a “restaurant” in the traditional sense. It’s a bar with a food truck but they have waitresses for the tables on the bar side.
The fried pickles are amazing! We also got the bbq brisket pizza, pepperoni pizza and the brisket sandwich. All delicious!
The location on the river is nice, plenty of outside seating. Food was over priced. Drinks were small. I ordered a barbecue sandwich, the bread was soaking wet on the bottom bun and the onion rings were cold when it arrived. Had to wait several minutes, 15 or so to be served. Took 30 mins to get our food. This is really more of a bar that has a small menu, not a restaurant. I wouldn’t go back to eat.
The food and atmosphere are great! The wait staff and owners are very friendly.

We returned today to Sexton Mill and as usual, everything was remarkable! The owner was sitting out front greeting folks as they arrived and she is so friendly. We love to stop by this place when traveling through Glen Rose, however, today we drove an hour and a half to Glen Rose solely to eat at Sexton Mill!

Casa Azteca is a new building with clean restrooms and friendly service. On Friday nights, they host karaoke and offer typical Tex-Mex food, including toasted peppers and fresh, delicious chips & dips. The street taco plate was good overall, but the meat was slightly overcooked. A must-try is the pina loca - a dish with shrimp, chicken, beef, chorizo, pineapple chunks, and bell pepper served in a hollowed-out pineapple.
So we went to the dinosaur park and by the time we left we were starving this was the first thing that looked appetizing on our way back home so we went in and let me tell you, this place SMACKS!!! The online menu is top notch because it has visual pictures of what your plate is gonna look like!
So they started us off with some fresh hot crispy chips and some spicy salsa that was delicious

Casa Azteca place looked great a new building. Restroom were clean. Service was nice but not very talkative. Friday night was karaoke. Food was your typical Tex-Mex. I do love the fact that you can get a toasted pepper. Chips & dips was fresh & delicious. Had street taco plate. Beans were good, pico was old, sauteed onions were good, meat was a little over cooked but not bad. Dinner was good & price is reasonable.
Driving through Glen Rose and chose this location based on the good ratings...Unfortunately I will not be one of those people giving it one....I will start by stating what I DID LIKE: It was a clean establishment, great salsa and friendly staff.
What I DIDN'T LIKE:
Our waiter was sweet, but had a small problem (SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS)...😳Nah, actually he may have been busy and just had too much to do, not sure. We had to wave down anyone else that made eye contact with us. Ordered a beer, but they were out, so we ordered water. We had to wait quite a bit for it.😐 Some of the chips were stale and our waiter replaced them. The wait time for our food was extremely long, like 30 mins or more.. We had to ask for our sliverware and napkins. Our waiter offered to bring us green salsa, but..........(short term memory loss alert!🤣) he forgot and had to remind him. The food seasoning on the carne asada and the mixed fajita was NOT GOOD. The texture of the meat was super chewy, great for anyone needing to define their jawline😁. The charro beans tasted like canned beans. Sorry to say, we will not be stopping here next time we drive through Glen Rose.
Most excellent Mexican cuisine. We have been living in area now about a year and a half. We happened to mention one day to an acquaintance that since leaving San Antonio we had not found a Mexican restaurant that met with our standards for latin flavor. That is until we dined at Casa Azteca. The pictures of the meals, the restaurant presents have ample portions and of course delivers on flavor, yum!
So everything was great inside but I did almost loose my ankle on the steps coming down specifically the last one. Again food

The server was very nice. The queso was yummy. But the guacamole and beans were literally inedible. The fajitas were over-cooked and best described as “medium rare beef jerky.”
Great service, very clean establishment. The food was excellent! We had the enchiladas and tacos. Would definitely recommend eating here after a long day of hiking!

I stopped in earlier on my bike, I've been wanting to get by here since they first opened, today was a good day to stop by for me mainly because I deal with anxiety issues and don't do well with crowded spaces, and it's hard to find a place anymore that does allow true service dogs anymore. It's nice to see that here, as I have mine for seizures and she usually travels with me.
The owners are very friendly and have a lot of great upcoming plans for their business here,
One of the best burgers I've had in a long while. I'll definitely be having to get my wife to come in to try it out. Even if she doesn't, I'll definitely be back.

Very loud (bad acoustics) inside. Nice large fan outside, keeping it from getting too hot and stagnant.
Not a bad burger, fresh and seasoned well, but decent for being in the middle of nowhere- Glenrose. The price is not bad except it comes with a bag chips or you can upgrade to potato salad or regular salad for $1.
Just buy a fryer and serve up fries and y’all have a good thing going.
Overall atmosphere is nice. Good shading with yard games setup to entertain. The worst part is the parking situation, it’s almost nonexistent.

Get by 3B for a juicy burger! I opted for the homemade potato salad, and it was excellent. My server, Victoria, was amazing. There is inside and outside dining, and games for the kids to play. Cold beer, live music, and great food!
This was a great little unexpected stop on our way to the dinosaur Valley State Park. It was a family oriented beer garden had lots of fun things for the kids to do, cornhole for the grown-ups, space for the little ones to burn off some energy. The staff was super friendly and the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. We ordered burger baskets (came with burgers and chips) for $9 and when they found out that we were new there they encouraged us to try the potato salad. We would encourage you to try it as well. It was delicious. The burgers are great -toppings were fresh-we would highly recommend. On our way out the door, we realized that they were getting ready to have an all you can eat fish fry. We’re gonna have to come back this way again soon.
We came to town and went to Dinosaur Valley State Park. We hung out all morning and then went to lunch at 3B. Food was excellent. Even my kids loved it. Live music. Yard games like corn hole and washers. Great spot. After, we went to Big Rock Park (which is less than a minute away) and let the kids play all afternoon. Great day and 3B was the perfect spot for my family of 5.
We stopped in here after visiting Fossil Rim, and I'm so glad we did. The burgers were excellent, as was the service. The kids enjoyed the outdoor games while we waited. I could have stayed for hours.
3Bs has a small clearly defined bar area/counter where you place your order, are served your drinks and given a buzzer, but it wasn't immediately obvious where you picked up your food. Through a roll-up door and across a small covered courtyard area, we could see a tiny food truck, from where we figured the food must come. Obvious enough on good weather days like the day we were there but perhaps not so on days where the roll-up door had to be shut.
The burgers we had we excellent and they had a fairly good selection of beverages. The atmosphere was very relaxed and looked like a local favorite. I was wishing we had some thing like it closer to home.

Tasty food! Service was good too. I had Bibi's Platter, a whole bunch of food for a good price. Very tasty stuff. Even the chips and salsa were great (I'm finicky when it comes to salsa, theirs is good, nice flavor and not overly hot), tasty seasoned chips too. I was glad I had brought my icebox so I could save the leftovers even though I was traveling. I greatly enjoyed the leftovers last night. Next time I'm in the area I'll go again.

From the moment we walked in we were greeted with friendly smiles. Our waitress was really nice and gave great recommendation. We had swirl mango & peach margs and they were perfect! The carne guisado was amazing so yummy. The lunch enchiladas with the verde was the perfect size and homemade tortillas are a must try.
This place is a scam!!! Was there 10/15/25 for food and drinks. The food was average, but the drinks had no alcohol in it!!! I had a regular margarita on the rock, and my boyfriend had a top shelve marg plus two separate shots of a blue drink (I don’t remember the name). When we got home an hour later he checked his alcohol level with a breathalyzer and it registered 0.00%. I was the designated driver and I checked mine and it also read 0.00%. Just to make sure, I had a sip of vodka at home and later checked the level and it read 0.03%. DO NOT CHARGE PPL FOR SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT PROVIDING! You guys are sucks!!!
This restaurant was nasty. Our family loves Mexican food. We will never come back. When they brought out the chips and salsa, it was primarily crumbs. I ordered the beef and chicken combination fajitas. The chicken had zero seasoning, and it tasted like old meat that had been reheated. The peppers and onions didn't taste like how fajitas taste at other restaurants. Our waitress did a poor job. Also, if you want a take home drink, they charge almost $4. The food was overpriced for what you get. I told the waitress the chicken tasted like old meat and they didn't offer to make things right. We were still charged the 19.99 for the fajitas. I would not recommend.
I had an amazing experience at Los Primos thanks to Jonna, who is an outstanding server! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Her great attitude and genuine care makes the visit special. On top of that, the food at Los Primos is always incredible. I love coming here and will definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Jonna if you want top-notch service!

We came in from out of town, and come here every time we visit Glen Rose, it's usually AMAZING which is why we keep coming back!! We always have a large group, somewhere around 20 of us were there Friday night. Drinks were okayish, the mix/alcohol ratio for the margaritas/rox was definitely off, too much mix and not enough liquor tasted like we almost just had straight mix! Food..... great quantity,almost too much, but according to my family quality was skimming by!! I wound up being entirely too disgusted to eat!! Our server was doing her absolute best to keep up with everything! We can't say anything bad about her!!! Our biggest problem is your ROACHES!!! SO MANY ROACHES!!!! They were EVERYWHERE in the dining room meaning they're PROBABLY in the KITCHEN as well, I didn't eat once I looked down and noticed the 1st one! Then I started paying attention and realized they were EVERYWHERE!!! In the bathroom, crawling on the floors under the tables, and then we saw them crawling up some chairs on our way out. Not sure if we will be back again, it's depending on if y'all get a PEST CONTROL COMPANY out or not! Look, YES pest control companies can be expensive, but LOSING customers is gonna be MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!! PLEASE do something about the ROACHES so we have a decent place to eat when we come out again in a couple of months!! PLEASE

We stopped by this place while visiting dinosaur valley state park. I ordered the El Sombrero fajita plate and hubby got the special steak matador. Both were not bad but not something to brag about. The flavors were good but the meat was chewy. Also the service was really slow and sparse and we had to wait a long time to get even chips and water.
Not a top end restaurant but everything about the experience was top end. Authentic food, great service, casual relaxing atmosphere. Small town gem on the highway. You will not be disappointed.
