⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Othello Tunnels are an absolute must-visit if you’re in the Hope, BC area! This historic and scenic spot is truly one-of-a-kind—former railway tunnels carved through solid granite, connected by bridges over the breathtaking Coquihalla River. The views are stunning year-round, from rushing turquoise waters in spring to the vibrant colours of fall. The walk is easy and family-friendly, making it perfect for all ages. It’s also dog-friendly, so your four-legged friend can enjoy the adventure too. The combination of natural beauty and fascinating history makes it an unforgettable experience. Parking is convenient, and the trail is well-maintained. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful walk with a bit of history, the Othello Tunnels are worth the trip. We’ll definitely be coming back—it’s a gem you don’t want to miss!
Absolutely stunning🌟!! Beautiful mix of nature and history. It’s short walk from the parking lot (5mins). We visited over the weekend and it was pretty busy, parking gets full pretty fast but there’s plenty of parking alongside the road you can use, if you don’t mind walking a few extra meters!! Tunnels are extraordinary. Walk alongside the canyon, with rushing water - its just beautiful😍 Definitely check them out while they are still Open!!
Beautiful place. Wonderful nature with peaceful sound of the clear water. We could enter three tunnels, or actually 2,5; Halfway the last tunnel was a wall built, with a note with the message repairs are needed on the tunnels so we couldn't go further. Despite it was very worth the (15-20 minute?) stop. It was a very little walk of approximately 5 minutes. (Would have been possible/ accessible with wheelchair I guess.)
Absolutely gorgeous, it was amazing how the tunnels turn around to fabulous views. It's a nice walk towards the entrance and get dark, better to have some form touch or mobile flash would do. The bridges are quite the catch with the view. There are more tunnels and could walk down the way. Definitely a place to visit!
Made a pit stop here on route from Vancouver to Sun Peaks and I’m so glad that we did. The tunnels are incredible. I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. The views are amazing. I highly recommend visiting this place from some unique sights and amazing pictures.
This is a really pretty spot for a walk. There is lots of parking although it gets very busy on weekends. It is dog friendly and there are lots of porta potty’s near the parking lot. And there are garbage cans at and closer to the parking lot (please use them). There are educational signs throughout. The tunnels can be wet and dripping inside if it was raining recently. Flashlights can be helpful although each tunnel isn’t super long. Stay on the path and away from the water. The currents are super strong. If someone has an issue with heights it may be difficult for them in some parts. There are a couple of picnic tables and it would make for a great lunch spot if you brought something to eat. The park is closed from November until Spring. Check the site out for specific dates.
The nature here is absolutely beautiful, and it’s a very interesting historical place. This is a great destination for anyone who loves the rich history of our province. I just have a couple of small suggestions: 1. On weekends, it’s really difficult to find parking — there clearly aren’t enough spots, and there are a lot of tourists. 2. There isn’t much historical information available on-site, so I often had to use Google Search to learn more about the place. Other than that, it’s definitely worth visiting!
Finally revisited the Othello tunnels since their full re-opening, the restoration crews did a great job. It may only be a short portion of the historic kettle valley railway, but it's beautiful, the tunnels are a little spooky, and everything feels very safe. Don't forget your flashlight, or the flashlight on your phone.

Rest area and a site of a mountain slide triggered by an earthquake. There is a beautiful memorial to the victims of the slide, buried in their cars many meters under the present Highway 3. This site has toilets but no running water.
Great rest area. A lot of room can even stay overnight with self contained RV. There are toilets as well as EV charging station and a plaque that explains the history. Unfortunately, people do not put their garbage in the garbage bins so there are some areas that it is a bit of a mess
Last stop on my trip through the Kootenays! Didn't know there was an EV station here. But there are pit toilets! The info on the hope slide is very sobering. The power of nature unleashing itself is just incredible sometimes. There was a lake here????
Unexpected discovery during our roadtrip to Osoyoos this year. We stopped to get some leg rest and found this interesting historical spot. Stop by and visit this place, read about historical events happened here in 1960s. There is parking with EV charging stations, washrooms, and picknick tables with a killer view.
Not much to say here, its a big memorial of a tragic slide and also a marker for a Canadian Air Force plane crash. Thank you to all who serve.
Fascinating piece of Canadian history I knew nothing about until I went for a motorcycle ride and stopped at this place. When you actually see the volume of rock that moved with your own eyes, it is quite humbling. A single rock slide reshaped an entire valley, took out a lake and killed 4 people. Don't fight mother nature is a valid saying; she will win every battle.
Witness breathtaking mountain scenery and explore the site of one of Canada’s largest landslides. Learn about the 1965 disaster through on-site displays and enjoy a powerful reminder of nature’s strength.
Breathtakingly beautiful The stillness is eerie The wildlife is there if you look carefully We saw Yellow Belly Marmots Very cool There is electric charger stations here & washrooms And a Picnic bench There is a info plaque of what happened on this historic site on January 9, 1965 in the Nicolum Valley in the Cascade Mountains It's a 10 min drive east of Hope, BC on highway 3 Updated April 22 2022

SO many talented people in Hope. There are incredible works of art in this gallery. I didn't have much to spend so I purchased 3 ART cards to put on a wall. I can't remember the name of the artist but he/ she has large paintings there as well.
If you are ever in Hope, you must see this art gallery! This gallery exhibits and sells fine art and crafts created by talented local artists. Each rooms displayed different artists hand made works, including paintings, prints, decorative and functional pottery, jewelry, wood, beadwork, fabric, fibre arts and more … lovely and fine ! Gallery artists are also volunteers! You may see them creating their work while you visit. Today I happened to meet the artist Mila. She is awesome! I appreciated her works, especially her paintings, peaceful, sunshine, and inspiring…
Great local art and handicrafts at far too low prices. You can afford gifts for others and something for yourself too...hand made shawls, pottery, paintings, photography, jewelry and more. Worth a trip to Hope. Take in some history, several fantastic hikes and a world class bike park....stay for the weekend!
What a beautiful, intimate and engaging space. Everyone was kind and helpful and the art crosses many mediums to create an all around wonderful art experience. If you are ever in Hope, this should not be missed
I loved the little Art Gallery of Hope! The different rooms displayed such lovely and fine objects d'Art, I was happily surprised at the talents of each of the collections of Artisans!
This is a surprisingly large gallery for such a little town. Local artists showcase a variety of mediums, and a variety of skill levels. If you look around, you can definitely find some (affordable!) gems.
'Love this little shop. My husband is more interested in the local art, which leaves me time to look at the handmade jewellery that is amazing. The prices are excellent.
Beautiful handcraft and love the welcoming atmosphere..if you are visiting Hope that is the must see location 😊

This visitors center in Hope was easy to access and had friendly informative staff. Free parking, outhouse washrooms and maps available. Local events and festival information posted. A great place to start when visiting this area. Ask questions and enjoy visiting areas in Beautiful British Columbia. Hope Trails Challenge. #hopetrails2025 @tourismhcc @hopemountain
Really glad we popped into here before we left Hope. The man we spoke to was very knowledgeable about the area and told us about the trail to follow by the river, which we were happy we did before leaving Hope.
Visiting from Europe, I stopped by the Hope Visitor Centre and had a great experience. Amanda was absolutely wonderful – super friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. She gave me a ton of great recommendations for places to visit and things to do in the area. Definitely worth a stop if you're in town!
We were lucky to meet Shiloh at the centre and boy she knows her stuff. Full of energy. She could tell us stuff from experience. Where to camp and restaurant recommendations...and what's going on around town. She could even tell us the difference between Rambo:First Blood the book and the movie. Wow!
Stopped in during a roadtrip through the area. We met Shiloh and she was amazing. Gave tips, directions, guides and she knew everything in and around the area. If you stop in I "Hope" you're lucky and she's at the centre.
Good, you can take photo with Rambo here
My wife and I needed help with BC ferries to Vancouver Island. We arrived a few minutes before 5 pm .Marvelous Shilou spent more then half an hour with us and solved our problem!!! She was our angel!!! We are so greatful to this gorgeous lady and we'll never forget her for the great assistance she gave us! Thanks Shilou God bless you

This is a historic and distinctive landmark that offers a lot of character and charm. The path leading to it is quite flat and easy to walk, making it accessible for everyone. However, I did notice that part of the area is currently undergoing maintenance, so only the front cave is open for exploration at the moment. Despite this minor setback, it’s still a destination worth visiting, as the scenery and the unique features of the landmark make it a memorable experience.
Very impressive tunnels, and also a wonderful story behind them. Well worth the almost 2 hour drive from Vancouver. Went there on Civic Holiday (Aug. 1) 2016 with my family, everyone enjoyed the trip. We arrived around 7:30-8:00 PM, so there were few people and the area was quite tranquil. I suggest going quite early or quite late in the day to avoid the large crowds. The picture was taken from the inside of a tunnel, I forgot which one. Edit: The tunnels have reopened after the floods in 2021 on August 19 2024, I went again on August 25 2024 and the tunnels are open to halfway into the second tunnel. You can see workers working on the rest of the tunnels beyond the fence.
Loved the walk-through tunnels and the surrounding area. A beautiful day made the views that much more spectacular. Some areas in the tunnel get dark, others have water dripping down and loose gravel so you shouldn't try to cycle thru. Take time to learn about the amazing history of this place. Definitely coming back with the family as it is a pretty flat walk not too long at all. Would highly recommend it for all ages, you need to see it at least once.
Beautiful scenery as well as an important part of Western history. U just feel different kind of relaxation walking through one of the best nature and man made wonders. So much greenery and the freshness of the air. The sound of the river bouncing off the canyon just makes the best no instrument music ever. I can literally spend all day there jus exploring woods and water and just listen to the water and nature's sounds. Simply just love it!!!
The Othello tunnels are worth a stop if you are coming back or heading to the interior. Great history lesson and amazing scenery. It's a short flat walk and you won't be disappointed.
Beautiful site. Always love going here. It was busy but was fairly spaced out between groups. Parking was a challenge, but still ok. It would be nice if there was a sign for the pathways after the tunnels. Would help to decide the length you want to go and if something is there you want to see.
Great park showcasing the railroad history in British Columbia. Really cool tunnels to walk through. Bring a flashlight to ensure you can see where your walking as the ground is a little uneven in the tunnels. Very cool views of the river and canyon. Very short walk from the parking lot. Definitely worth a visit. Can get very busy on a hot summer day though.
Was so beautiful and easy to get to the tunnels , something about mother nature that always relaxes me , the only things is there is alot of construction on the roads right now and really bumpy so take it slow .

Picturesque undeveloped area offering a lake for fishing & boating, campgrounds & picnic areas.

One of my favorite places is a lake with a road that's about 7 km long, but it's totally worth the journey. What I love the most is the beach there, especially the soft sand—it’s so relaxing!
I feel this lake is very secluded and quiet. No crowds. Very pleasant view to hang out.
The campground was nice, and the lake view was stunning. However, the lake wasn't safe for kids to play, there was lots of leeches in the water. Additionally, there was no tap water available, only force pump (old fashioned)
Easy access to the lake. Brought our canoe up. Just for the day. Keep in mind if it’s off season the gate will be closed to the campground. So take the road up to the left to launch kayaks or canoe. Many people just walk up to the beach access for the day.
Serene, secluded lake in the wilderness. Perfect for kayaking/paddle-boarding! The road to get there is good, the last 6kms is gravel but still very well maintained and any car with decent car can make it, don’t necessarily need a 4x4. The campgrounds are great and also well monitored. The Day Use area is relatively small but I imagine this place doesn’t get too much traffic anyways. However, if you walk by the lake, there are many day-use spots where you can have your picnic or go for a swim.
This rustic park is located about 20 minutes from Hwy 1. Follow directions from the BCParks website. The road turns to a good quality dirt road partway in. The scenery as you drive into the hills is spectacular with rushing creeks, waterfalls, and coastal forest. On the plus side this park has large private campsites that are mostly level with tables and firepits. There is a small lake surrounded by mountains with a 10hp limit and a small boat launch. Perfect for canoe and kayak. The park is small, and the lake is an easy walk. On the negative side none of the sites have power, water or sewer hookup. There are no water taps but there is are hand pumps for drinking water located in the campground area. No showers. No flush toilets just pit toilets. There is only limited hiking available and no playground for children.
It is beautiful and extremely peaceful. We were able to walk down the trail and find a private little beach area for us to lounge at. There isn't a lot of parking but wasn't busy when we went on a Monday afternoon. We went swimming in the water it was cold and so refreshing as it was 35 degrees out. I didn't like the garbage people left lying around. My daughter found some glass in the water. There is also camping there but we didn't check that out.
Gorgeous lake at a provincial Park and a boat launch. It is worth walking back down the road to the entrance where there is a beautiful stream running over the rocks. It's very serene and peaceful. The road into the park is terrible!! There are some places it's a washboard road, others when there are giant holes and some with rocks jetting out. You can just drive super slow if you decide to go.

Falls Lake is a truly beautiful and peaceful destination, perfect for anyone looking to escape into nature. During my visit over a long weekend, I was struck by how calm and relaxing the atmosphere was—it’s an ideal spot to unwind away from the noise of daily life. The lake itself is stunning, with scenic water views that make for excellent photo opportunities. The hiking trails, though short, are enjoyable and accessible for all levels, making it a great option for families or anyone who prefers lighter outdoor activities. What really stood out to me was the combination of serenity and natural beauty; it’s the kind of place where you can take your time, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the surroundings.
Beautiful campground. Had it all to myself. Small bridge out at beginning of trail but easily for fable without getting feet wet Two spots, toilet and bear bins. Minus one star because it was crazy buggy last weekend of July.
Beautiful short trail to the lake, maybe around 900m. Very quiet backcountry camping site. Some bugs in the summer. Water of the lake is very clear.
A beautiful and quiet place to spend some quality time, there is a bit of hiking from parking lot, maybe 1 kilometre but It’s worth it🏞️
Great little 900m hike to this beauty of a lake nestled in the mountains 🤍
Gorgeous lake to visit....hiking is worth it! I see a lot of people going here for day camping and even barbecue. Love the place! 💕

By far one of my favourite parks! The pictures attached are up Silverdaisy mountain. It has been one of my favourite hikes so far. The trail is in pretty rough shape in some spots, but it adds to the challenge and charm. The rest of the park is also really beautiful and it seems exploring the whole park would take a really long time, but I would recommend visiting it. There is a bit of everything there that would be good for a lot of different people. There is a lot of interesting historical information here and there are rhododendron patches which is quite rare for them to grow naturally in the wild. Did I mention the park is beautiful? If you go make sure you are aware of bears and bring bug spray. There is also no cell reception here, so come prepared and be aware of that in order to ensure your safety. The mosquitos and wasps are the biggest negative to this wonderful park. As long as you let people know where you are going and are prepared with enough food and water so that you can take advantage of all the exploring and different activities the park has to offer.
The site was beautiful. The only slight is the logging road drive up. I've been on much worse though. The park ranger, Issac, was wonderful. Made our time there great. New outhouses, nice playground, and lots of hiking trails.
The park is absolutely beautiful and Ross Lake is clean and refreshing. The campground at Ross lake is well kept, park operators are hard to find. I did enjoy speaking to the American and Canadian park rangers and they had great activities for kids. It seems like a party campground as it’s 60km down a gravel road. Also the mosquitos were horrible, you can’t stay outside without bug spray and in the sun or else you will be eaten alive. We left a day early because the bugs were so bad even with heavy spray.
Epic place, deer, moose, wolves, cougars all potential campsite and river visitors. Wild strawberries grow on the side of the road, and fishing the river is the most fun you’ll have
Went fishing on the lower skagit with a friend for the first time this year. Amazing trip, unfortunately the day camping area was closed but we still had easy access from the road to the water and camped on the river bank the two nights and three days we stayed! Only got into small bows but lots of fun and a beautiful place to escape!
I was working with invasive species in a large burn area in the park. The burn affected parts of the Silver Skagit and Centennial trails. This is a tremendously beautiful area; even after a significant wild fire. There are often a lot of bugs; but they do not distract much from the experience.
Great park, good drive and some awesome views! I would definitely recommend going to check it out if you have the time and a good spare tire! The stop at silver lake along the way is also pretty amazing!!
A paradise on earth. Small Brooks are flowing on the stony river bed. The whole valley is covered with green forest. Thick wood, singing river and whistling ducks will be one's company. You can walk 15 km to reach the end of the jungle trails. Time flows lazily when one holds his fishing rod without much expectations. The washrooms are closed.

Amazing hike up to yak peak! Not for the faint hearted. Hiking poles, good shoes and good fitness will make the hike less challenging.. about a 1km walk for the parking area along the coquihalla highway. And great views once you get to the top with multiple 360 view points all around you. On a clear day it’s a perfect hike to accomplish!
I did the hike up to flatiron and camped , steep incline but well worth it when you get to the top . Clean grounds and small tent spots near small lake .
Absolutely gorgeous place to visit. There are a few nice places to camp and even more great places to hike. Great place to get away from the city life and just relax.
Wow!!! Great little rest area and the information they put up about the different trips you can do around the province. Wish I seen six months ago. Spent six months up and down the Ogangan valley.. Next summer! Oh my ya make sure you bring water, can't drink the water.
Gorgeous scenery, and you will have to check out The Lunch Box at the Zopkios Break check stop . AMAZING fast food.
We did the traverse from markhore mountain to needle peak. Fun day super hot though as the picture suggests too.
Steep hike but only took us just over two hours to summit yak peak. I'd say for moderate to advanced hikers. The use of a rope is required in one spot. Could be very slippery if wet!
Amazing place ! Probably not the best time to hike it (may) due to the snow and water run off. Start trail was hard to find and flooded but over all was great to be up there

Beautiful , watch for bearz.
Completely overgrown, not sure why it is shut down. Nice spot under the trees by the river though.
Nothing much there but a short walk to the river down an old paved road.
