My boyfriend and I just completed our second trip to Selkirk and couldn't have been more thrilled! We traveled from New York, he ski's and I snowboard. For anyone who is not familiar with snowcat skiing/boarding, the experience starts with a trip up the mountain in a brand new, very comfortable and warm snow cat, where the guides are happy to answer any questions. Once you get to the top, the views are unmatched, with no signs of civilization in sight, snow trees and mountains everywhere you look. From there, the lead guide will find you the best untracked powder as you make your way down the mountain, through the trees and back to the snowcat. An average run is about 45 minutes, then you will get back into the snowcat to travel back up the mountain, while eating a nice lunch, drinking some warm tea, and listening to some music if you like. After a long and very fun day on the mountain, you will come back to the lodge where you will find apres ski in full swing, you can have a drink at the bar and enjoy a dip in the hot tub until dinner. The food is always on point, extremely tasty and healthy, so you always feel great for the next day on the mountain. Selkirk truly provides a once in a lifetime experience. From the owner, to the guides and snowcat drivers, to the masseuse, photographer and kitchen staff, and of course the the most epic snow you will ever find, this place is the best of the best. We can't wait for next year and many more to come!
I think we can all agree that Selkirk Cat Skiing is in one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The snow must be experienced, you might find it’s equal but there is nothing better. What you may not know is the staff. Paul and Megan have put together a fantastic group of people. Guides, drivers, chefs, lodge staff. Everyone is motivated to make this the best experience you have ever had. My Dad has the distinction of being the oldest first time cat skier ever to hit the slopes at 84. This would not have been possible if it were not for the coordinated efforts of Paul, Liam,Adam, Rebecca, Clayton and Steve. I also have to put a special shout out to Lyndsay, who’s massages kept him going. I was a little nervous about this adventure and I cannot thank all of you enough for everything you did. We will remember this day. Much love to all the staff at Selkirk Jory Bocknek
Great guides, huge tenure with all terrain types, solid program and facilities
I have skied at Selkirk Wilderness 3 times before and had a great time. However, I am extremely disappointed in the current management and the way they handled the covid-19 situation. They refused to follow their own written cancelation policies. I totally understand the need to cancel tours in 2019 and 2020 due to covid-19 but not to give their clients a 100% credit for the tours that SWS canceled was totally wrong! Their own policy reads that if the client cancels the tour there is no refund. But if Selkirk Wilderness Skiing cancels the tour, that the client is entitled to a 100% refund or credit. They need to adhere to their own policy.
I had an awesome time here. One of the Best skiing experiences of my Life. Every skier needs to try Cat skiing at Least Once. However Selkirk Snowcat/Wilderness skiing is a family run place, and Family run places always offer the best customer service and they treat you like part of the family here. Best skiing of my Life... Thank You SWS!!!
This was a massive scam...we had a trip booked with them and due to Covid they cancelled. Totally understandable. However, unlike others, instead of refunding us our money...they gave us two options: 1) Get a 75% credit towards next year (WHAT!? they wouldn't even give us a full credit towards a trip in 2021) 2) Get 50% our money money back THEN, after our whole group agreed to take 75% and do a booking in 2021 at ADDITIONAL cost, they sent a followup saying that the credit would only be available to us for the 2022 season. So our options are: 1) Pay more to get a reservation in 2022 or 2) Only get 50% of the $5500 we paid back Terrible way to conduct business and was a real bummer. Untrustworthy and just not OK. I would not do business with this company unless you are willing to pay for rock solid trip insurance.
The most spectacular scenery near Nelson, BC.
Beautiful location and lodge. Great terrain and guides!

Our group had a fantastic trip with the crew from White Grizzly. The hospitality and guiding was top notch along with breathtaking and diverse ski terrain. The food is on par with a high end restaurant. We had the opportunity to ski with a few of the owners and their passion for the whole experience is genuine. It’s hard to find a fully private cat skiing option in BC, we’ve already rebooked for next season. Thank you to the White Grizzly team for the trip of a lifetime.
Our time with the White Grizzly crew was nothing but exceptional!! The terrain and experience in the backcountry was phenomenal and tailored well to our group. Their ability to asses and make adjustments on the fly was excellent and greatly appreciated. The food and lodge experience was unreal, we felt very at home and comfortable. We can't wait to be back next year!!!!
Attended to the White Grizzly Resort as a part of a 3 day Gravel Bike Camp (Birthday gift). The area is located in a remote part of the Interior of British Columbia; in a stunning Valley accessed by a gorgeous drive from Kaslo, BC (north). Immediately upon arrival I was welcomed into the rustic main building and from that point on had a fabulous stay. All of the Staff were phenomenal; from the host, chef and ride guides (of which Svein Tuft is a Canadian cycling Legend). The terrain was stunning and quite challenging but only added to the experience; from high sub alpine, lakeside, river cruising to bush trails I loved every moment of earning the views and the memories. Food selection by the Chef was fitting/awesome for each person; as were the accommodations. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone seeking an adventurous outing. Thanks Svein and Team.
Our stay at White Grizzly was an unforgettable adventure . We loved the quiet surroundings of the lodge, the hot tub , outside fires , and the meals were absolutely delicious! ( thanks Laura ) The entire staff was exceptional. Gravel Biking with Svein and the group was a perfect fall day in the Kootenays. The views were breathtaking .
The White Grizzly Lodge completely exceeded my expectations! The lodge itself is beautifully rustic and very clean. The bedrooms are well laid out, each with its own bathroom ensuite. The beds were very comfortable, and linens were fresh and clean. The lodge manager Christa was so helpful, kind and accommodating. She was very friendly and welcoming to our large group. She went above and beyond stocking the fridge with some cold drinks that we requested. Her offer of catering was the best decision our group made. Laura, the Lodge Chef absolutely delivered on our dinners. She is an exceptional chef and fed 15 hungry fellas easily with an incredible menu. I highly recommend the White Grizzly Lodge for any group that is travelling through the area. While they specialize in Cat Skiing in the winter, they have the ability to host any group in the off season. You won't be disappointed!
We just finished a gravel cycling weekend at White Grizzly. We are still buzzing from the epic weekend. Lodge life was beautifully managed. Rooms were clean, comfy beds, nice hot water. Krista the lodge manager was extremely helpful and accommodating. On the big day, Svein Tuft guided us to a spectacular route up to the alpine. For a former pro rider, somehow he knew how to accommodate our group with mixed abilities. His positivity and excitement for the rides was infectious. Judson and Roxanne used a van and off-road vehicle to get food and drinks right up to the alpine, and leave cold drinks in the river when needed. We felt supported and spoilt the whole trip. Thank you!
Rustic Lodge for quick access to back country gravel rides. The camp at White Grizzly with Svein Tuft was amazing! Great crew of people, and fantastic (tough) terrain with some spectacular views--even though there was some smoke in the air.
Superb weekend of guided gravel riding from the White Grizzly team. The hospitality and food were amazing, the routes, guide and support were outstanding. An unforgettable (and challenging!) experience!
