We saw a sea turtle just near the shore.
Smaller beach but half the area is shaded. Food trucks setup and people play local music. Beach and water are clean and beautiful looking.
Parking is limited right at the beach but the side steets have room.

The best public beach in Mauritius. No matter how crowded it is, you will not struggle to find a quiet spot. Safe place. The sand is one of the softest, i.e. you won’t be bumping on rocks/corals when walking on the beach or in the sea.

Nice mall with nice vibe. The shops mix is good. Hyper market and food court in the location
La Croisette is a decent shopping centre, but it’s not very family-friendly. There isn’t much for kids to do, which can make visits challenging for families. The prices across stores are quite high, and the shopping options are dominated by clothing stores, leaving little variety. However, the food court is a highlight, offering a good selection of eateries with a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, it’s a nice place to visit if you’re focused on shopping or dining, but it could benefit from more affordable options and activities for children.
Nice mall with great variety of foods to chose from in the big food court. Tables are very clean and you can never see a fly near you as it smells good every where you go and there are fans so you are never sweating. But overall it is very pleasant to walk around and many activities are available to do.
Not lots to do, food court great variety to choose from. Mostly for tourists again. Was convenient to get to from where we stayed in the North. Taxi and busses available all the time. Spacious mall.
It's a really big mall with a lot of shops. It is capable of giving a good shopping experience.
The architecture of the mall is nice and cool. It has a modern touch.

There is a wide area for kids to play so they are going to love this place.
There are two supermarkets in the mall in which Intermart is the biggest i think.

Has a very open feel to it and a lovely vibe. Also has a selection of stores as well as a well sized food court (majority of eateries are halal 😄)! Also has a cinema and plenty of parking. The Intermart is worthwhile shopping at if you are on holiday to get all your drinks and snacks at a very decent price.
Though there are lots of people during the weekend since it's school holidays, still Love the vibes and restos!! Nice place for family time, chillax with friends or do shopping. You can check out the animal shop there. They have puppies to adopt from time to time. The garden is so cool. Always renovating and well maintained!
Free underground parking. Recycle bins in one corner of the carpark for all types of recyclables. Lots of shops and a bank. 5ru coin needed for big shopping trolley. V helpful staff in the InterMart.

Nice place to visit,
The bazaar for tourists is quiet and clean. You can walk around, look around and buy whatever you need. Of course, you should haggle. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit.
Grand Bazaar at Grand Baie has lots to offer. Make sure that you visit before 17:00. My rating could be more if I had more time to spend there. Worthwhile going there. Parking is a bit difficult though.

As someone who has visited Mauritius many times , its better to support the Bazar than overpriced Street guys and hawkers .
Its not an air conditioned mall its a market and goods are fine as gifts .etc
Best stall for Trainers ,sun glasses,jewellery, bags is just before the main entrance and the Buddha on the right side .
Run by Anoushka so helpful and patient, we tried on several trainers etc and then bought quite a few bits .
She is a kind natured lady not like some of the stall holders .
Do support if you don't want to pay the ridiculous hotel gift shop price for the same goods .

It's a great spot to browse and shop for souvenirs! There’s a wide variety of handmade items and clothing to choose from. The people are friendly and polite, making the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for unique keepsakes.

Beautiful small beach, awesome sunset setting. Careful, there are plenty of rocks in the seemingly clearer section of the water, and the algae is normal for Jan period. Breathtaking sunsets
Great beach and fantastic food, drinks available. The Coconuts and Pineapple drinks are delicious. Food is fresh and great service.
The view of the beach is nice and the toilets are clean. But the surrounding area and the beach itself could be much cleaner. I hope that the city will deal with it.
As far as public beaches go we really enjoyed it.
Be careful by the rocks. There may be urchins.
Few little waves which excite thr children.
It is pleasant to watch the boats.
There are a few food trucks about if you get peckish. They aren't the cheapest.
We enjoyed that there were trees about for shade.
Many locals bring lunch and set up a table and chairs for themselves... Which was very cute.
Neat public toilets are there but take your own loo paper.

We highly recommend Ocean Spirit. Decided to take our PADI Open Water whilst on holiday. The entire team are a happy friendly bunch and super helpful and patient. Patrick our diving instructor had the patience of a saint, Thank you!! Giovanni our boat captain was always on hand to help and encourage, and always with a smile! I had done research before coming out on holiday and after careful consideration we chose Ocean Spirit. They did not disappoint! Knowledgeable, professional and friendly. At the end of the course we felt like part of the Ocean Spirit family.
I originally signed up for a PADI Open Water course, then once I'd completed it, Alyssa talked me into doing the Advanced course as well, not that I needed any persuading.
Bobby instructed me on both courses, and I couldn't praise his professionalism and tutelage highly enough.
The centre is large and well equipped, with a range of dive equipment for all sizes. Unlike the other local centres it also has a briefing area with charts, changing rooms, and a coffee bar for post-dive relaxing and debrief.
They have 2 boats, piloted by Jovany and Pascal, both proficient captains fully trained to deal with dive emergencies.
All the dive staff are experienced and highly qualified in multiple disciplines, making this the perfect centre for someone wanting to learn to scuba dive, or someone wanting to upgrade their existing skillset.
I can't wait to go back to get my Nitrox and Deep Diving qualifications.

I dived with Bernard, whom is a great instructor. Really patient, a lot of knowledge about underwater species and might have a scanner in the eyes because he sees everything during dives.
I can only recommend diving with Ocean Spirit regagdless of your level, you will be treated perfecly well!
Best experience ever on the Discover Scuba Diving Course! Neither my husband or I have ever scuba dived before but the initial training was fantastic and really put us at ease. Bernard was our main instructor but Nando was also on the dive instructing other divers, and both made us feel very safe and looked after. My husband and I both loved the dive and saw lots of different fish including a ribbon eel and rock fish which were both very cool!
If we had more time in Mauritius we wouldn’t hesitate to book an open water diving course with Ocean Spirit.
If you’re thinking of giving scuba diving a go, we would highly recommend Ocean Spirit!

We went scuba diving for the first time in our lives during our honeymoon in Mauritius!
After a short lesson with our PADI instructor, Nando, we went into the open sea — it was an incredible experience.
He was extremely kind and an outstanding instructor!
Thanks to him, we had one of the best moments of our honeymoon.
We thought the dive would last about 30 minutes, but he let us stay underwater until our gas was nearly depleted — which made the experience even better.
We also got some amazing photos from the dive.
Because of the Ocean Spirit team, we now really, really, really want to go scuba diving again someday!

Super warm, friendly and highly knowledgeable team at ocean spirit. They were patient and courteous at all times. Had a fantastic experience snorkeling and a few dives as well. All the instructors and the boat captain are very pro and knowledgeable.
The equipment is well maintained and nicely organised. My friend and myself went for a 6 dives package and it was a blast. Each dive was at a different spot, great way to see diverse marine life. We also learned a lot about the ecosystem.

Where should I start, I have already been in contact with various diving centers in advance. Nothing really excited me. Octopus Dive was recommended to me and communication went well. I was very lucky to do my open water directly with Ludo. He was very strict and always made safety his top priority. I ended up having a dive with almost everyone and all I can say is, the whole team is fantastic. Thanks to all of you for making my time so unforgettable! I will be definitely back.

Had a great time with Ludo and Deborah as our guide and instructor! We went to Coin du Mire island and even though the wind conditions was a bit rough but the team knew exactly the right spot to avoid currents with great visibility underwater. We saw eagle ray, turtle and many wild tuna during the dives! Wonderful experience 🤩 we regret that we didn’t go sooner with Octopus team. Definitely highly recommended!
Came here to do my open water after my brother went diving with the team and recommended them strongly. Ludo is responsive and organizes all dives well! He even sent me my material beforehand so I could complete my theory and finish my certification in 3 days (as I am on vacation in Mauritius). My instructor was Pascal and he was so calm and informative (and funny). It really made me comfortable and ready to take on any challenge. He was so patient and attentive. The whole team from the moment you arrive at 8:30 to the time you finish your dives are attentive and responsive. Even the captain of the boat came to help us jump off when I hesitated. It's a real team effort and you won't regret diving with this team! We saw gorgeous fish, turtles, all kinds of venomous and poisonous fish and a giant string ray. Extremely clear water. Will be back whenever I visit Mauritius again.

I was looking for a new centre to do my Padi Avanced level and found out about BASE Diving Centre and decided to go with them. The team is not only extremely professional and patient, but every one is so nice and passionate about what they are doing.
I have done many dives with them now and each single one of them have been an exquisite experience!
The centre is also located near the best diving sites of the Island which gives a lot of opportunities of seeing a wide variety of species. I recently saw turtles which was really something special and magical, but also did a wreck dive that was far beyond my expectations.
I will surely keep on diving with them and I highly recommend them to anyone wishing to dive or learn how to dive in Mauritius!
Just completed 5 dives with Menon and team for my PADI advanced open sea diver certification. Exceedingly friendly, very competent and great focus on safety. I would recommend this dive center to. Ridicilously friendly crew! We are both unexperienced divers and they stayed with us all the time down. Very reassuring and relaxed, with good breathing tips so our air supply reached much longer then ever before. We did 3 dives with them. Coin de Mire is exceptionnaly beautiful, but also the reef in front of Pereybere is beautiful. Great atmosphere among the diving crew and reasonnably priced. Highly recommended! From the initial contact to the finalization of my course everything was perfect.
Emilie was my contact via email when organizing the course from home. She was helpful and informative from the very first second.
After our arrival Chris took care of me for the lessons. He was calm, precise and showed the right amount of relaxation so that the whole course became a wonderful experience.
Our dives were great. We saw turtles, lionfish, octopus and hundreds of colorful reef fishes. It was just great.
If you want to learn diving or want to go for a dive after being already certified, BASE DIVING is your place to go.
Base Diving was the best decision for our dives. The total crew is very friendly, you feel like in a family and they spread real happiness. During the dives they try to make it the most comfortable way for you.
They suddenly help you with little problems, they are very careful und they care about the underwater world.
They have a look that you don't destroy the reeves.
If we dive in Mauritius again, we will choose Base Diving of course.

Based on local (house owner) advice we picked 5 star diving center Base Diving - and we (family of four) were very happy that we did. Course director Barlen and his lovelly wife lead an enthusiastic team of dive masters who take excellent care of their clients: “we deliver a 5 star service!”. Our two children of 14 and 16 completed their Open Water dive course in 5 days - could have been 4 but we took our time. Barlen and two of his instructors Gillian and Arnauld took exceptional care in explaining the theory when reviewing the intermediary tests, as well as during the confined water (very near shore) training and during and after the open water exercises. Then we added a couple open water dives more to wonderful sites at close range (max 15 minutes by boat): Grand Baie, the Aquarium and Turtle Point. The dive equipment and the boat are in excellent condition. Prices are very reasonable. As a fairly experienced diver (>200 dives around the world) I can attest that this was among my best experiences ever. I definitely recommend it to anyone.
I decided to try out diving for the 1st time, and completed a ‘try dive’. Everyone was very welcoming and really helpful, as well as relaxed. I felt at ease and learning from them was a great experience. I would highly recommend diving with the team here as you really feel part of the family. 5⭐️

Sea front view area where you can do shopping and have a brunch with your friends and family if you want to go to the beach or something like that I would highly recommend ❤️❤️
Good afternoon fox, me as a Mauritian people this is a place for tourists and a place for stuff. But I don't say for them too. Nice and cool environment but about a bit noisy. You have choices amongst choices what to do and what to buy. A place never stop for people on day time and afternoon. Yes you have to be vigilant too. This is a wonderful open shopping with direct summer holiday. Well is your choice what to ware or not. Pay attention thus place is not like European one but you have to ware properly and not to do provocation to others people please. Be respectful. A place not to be naked but all the religious visiting this environment so be human not dogs.
We did a fishing cruise today. Unfortunately we only caught one fish but we had a great time. Crew was amazing! Just: if you are out for 5h at least, they could serve a small Snack
Nice place in Grand Baie with private parking. Excellent Sauterel restaurant from french cuisine. Unfortunately, not all stores opened after Covid. And so the place appears deserted at the moment. I hope and wish this place and all the business in Grand Baie a speedy recovery from Covid.
Nice beach , beautiful sunset view. Pretty good options to shop, eat and look around.

The crew on the boat definitely tried to put us on the fish chasing several flocks of feeding birds, but it wasn't to be. My reason for an average rating is that it is quite costly to charter such a boat and on the boat is a sign saying the fish remains the property of the company, usually one gets to keep a fish to eat if you so wish. There was nothing said of this and it put a negative start on the trip but other than that the trip was fine.

On the initially scheduled day, we couldn’t embark due to a malfunctioning boat. After rescheduling, we finally went out to sea, but returned with just a single small fish to show for over six hours of effort. Despite the skipper’s efforts, the lack of catch was disappointing.
While the ocean setting was beautiful, the experience left much to be desired. I cannot recommend this company and suggest exploring other fishing companies on the island for a more fulfilling fishing excursion during your visit.”
Went on a fishing trip with them in December. Nimalen picked us up at the hotel and gave us a ride to where their boat was. Surprisingly enough, he said he wasn't able to join us since he had other business to do or needed to do another trip and left us with his two young employees. While one of them was quite friendly, both didn't talk at all or explain anything and as soon as we caught some tuna, they were all about getting the fish in as quickly as they could and not letting you enjoy the fight with the fish. When I got seasick and asked them to return, you could tell they weren't too happy to help but after some discussion (which I think is ridiculous in such a situation) we turned around and drove back. Their overall not very customer-friendly behavior all made sense when they sold the 6 tunas we caught right after we got off the boat, with the owner's wife yelling at them for whatever reason. Not a great, relaxing experience at all when you get the feeling that all they care about is additional money-and the charter of the boat is actually not for free so one could think it should be more about customer satisfaction rather than getting as much as they can out of selling the fish their customer caught. Not recommended.
Good day. If you need a nice experience then please don't go with these guys. You pay for the diesel and their time and they have the experience only. Sadly they don't care what you think, especially the owners wife. We were the vehicle that pays for there catch. We wanted to take a photo on the boat with the fish but he spoke to us in such a rude horrible disrespectful way that we just sat down and prayed the trip can come to an end. Elvino, the Captain was only friendly when he spoke on the radio. Major babalas, I think. Not worth to risk your life at sea. He will never be my skipper again, and sadly he has talent but needs to learn to look after his clients. His party of the previous night was still clearly visible in his eyes. Don't waist your money. And yes I did take it up with them first, an absolute no care attitude. They don't like South Africans especially. Fabricate stories. Even threatened us via Facebook that they will teach us to swim.
Nice and friendly staff - I recommend to everyone - even if not always a lot of fishes.
We only caught 5 Bonito, 1 Wahoo and 1 Blue Marlin... No, seriously: a perfect day, thank you very much for the great experience!
Equipment was good, boat is a bit old but still very serviceable. Crew were friendly but didnt really talk and half pulled the fish in for you. Caught some great fish but as soon as we got back to shore they came and whisked them all away. We asked if we could have one (we caught 8) and they grudgingly left us a piddly small mackerel. Really soured the whole experience and left us feeling like we basically just paid for the fuel so they could go get their daily catch

We communicated with James in advance letting him know that we we were interested in going to Coin de Mire, and agreeing that it will be dependent on sea conditions. However, when we arrived it seemed like it was not just the sea conditions but more like lack of customers so they would not go just with the 2 of us. We went to Coin de Mire with Tec Diving eventually.

Forth ⭐️ and the most important the food. I’ve had a lot of sushi over the years this has been by far the best, mounts watering and fresh.
Fifth ⭐️ over all winer and definitely the restaurant to eat at if your ever in the north of Mauritius.
Hotel staff are very friendly and very professional. Welcoming with professionalism and very pleasant staff.

This review is regarding the B Restaurant, nothing to do with the rooms. As residents of Mauritius we used to dine at this place at least twice a month. It is with great regret that, in our last visit (28/02/2020), the quality of service and food fell down from what we considered a 5-star experience to a 1-star. We were heart-broken to find that the B Restaurant had changed management, chef and service staff - all for the bad!! The menu went from an original, varied and seasonal offer to "yet another boring menu" trying to sell everything and not being good at anything. The offer for vegetarians (forget about vegans) is inexistent. The palm heart salad I was offered was simply tasteless and untrascendental. The calamari tandoori of my husband tasted/felt like just out of the freezer. It was paella night that day and, as foodies well acquainted with paella, we can tell you that the seafood fried rice we were served that night could never pretend to be a "paella". And the service - the reason why we used to visit this place, is now below zero. Waiters haven't been trained on menu items or customer service (let aside etiquette!).
I write this review hoping that the management of the Hotel wakes-up and takes action more than to discourage future clients. You've lost a couple of recurrent customers that used to recommend you at every opportunity. Now I do not think we'll step there again, not even for a 2nd chance. Good luck.
We had the pleasure of having lunch at this fantastic hotel. From when we entered and left, the staff were attentive and polite. Best experience from Mauritius. Can definitely recommend this place. Absolutely stunning rooms and spa area.
Pros:
- Staff at this hotel are 5*, nothing is too much trouble, they genuinely take an interest in you and your day, they are very knowledgeable and polite.
- The hotel is small and not a big commercial resort.
- Good range of free watersports equipment and free boat shuttles across the bay (set times), free bikes to use.
- Spa is excellent value for money.
- Free parking available.
- Food is good quality and tasty/gourmet. The sushi restaurant and chef are excellent! The food is pricey if you're not all inclusive though.
- The hotel is located on the quieter, windier side of the bay, nice if you want to be out of the busy town center, not ideal if you haven't got a car, the hotel can arrange taxis for you though.
Cons:
- This hotel is not a 5* in my opinion, maybe 4*, having travelled from the 3* Veranda Tamarin hotel, I felt they provided better facilities and a better room despite being of a lower rating.
- The sea view suites are the only rooms in the main part of the hotel, all the others are in a separate building on the other side of the road.
- The gym is not part of the hotel but is an independent one 5 mins walk down the road.
- I had numerous issues with my room (upgraded sea view suite) most of which were rectified, but I shouldn't have had to keep having and I stopped reporting in the end. The room felt well used and a bit tired, the overall finish although looking good on the hotel pictures is not of a 5* quality.
- My room was on the side of the hotel with the resteraunt and cleaners office, this made it extremely noisy - try to get a room on the other side of the hotel or 2nd floor.
- Overall this hotel is not very good value for money, I stayed in the Veranda Tamarin and Solena Beach, Belle Mare both lower rated and cheaper but 10 times better.
Great hotel to stay. Clean spacious rooms, friendly staff. Everything is here you can wish for. Excellent restaurant with breakfast and diner. 3 times a day a free shuttle boat to Grand Baie. We sure will come again to this fabulous hotel. Top
When we arrived at the hotel they greeted us very nicely.
After that when we went in the room there were ants all over the place so we asked them to come and clean it up.
The very next day we complained again and again once more to clean it up, on the third day we got really mad because the room was very expensive so they moved us to the sweet but I’m fortunately there were ants there too.
All we wanted was the vacation to End, I have everything videoed and photographs and I’m considering filing a complaint at the website booking
A cute little hotel, with a tranquil atmosphere, not buzzing with huge amounts of tourists. Has a beautiful view of the sea, where you can enjoy good food without any noise. AH THE FOOD. The food is honestly delicious, the burger is excellent, but the real star is the sushi. It's hard to find good quality sushi in Mauritius but this one meets all my expectations. The salmon belly is too DIE FOR. The sushi chef trained in Singapore and knows his freaking stuff. The only critic I have, is that its not cheap, but atleast you know you're getting good quality food. Btw, if you're going to have sushi, make sure the sushi chef is there, or else the quality is way lower.

No one attending at front desk going back and changing whatsoever, no choice of therapist advice only one person but how to reserve for couple massages if you tell me you have availability for one therapist. Always booked for 2 weeks but spa always empty. Choosing specific clients 🤔 priority. Not local friendly?
The massage was very good and they staff were professional, you could definitely tell the quality of the massages were high.
However, we booked a 1,5 hours massage (90 min) but we checked the clock when the massage was done and the ladies stopped 10-15 min before. We were disappointed as we payed for 90 min massage.
I had an ayurvedic massage with Veena, and it was excellent. All my stress went away and I was completely relaxed.
This lady is one of the best therapists I came across, ever! She knows what you need just by looking at you and finds spots of tension you didn’t know you had. I was completely immersed in the massage and my mind wasn’t wandering anywhere!!
Absolutely Perfect. Veena is awesome and during the week we stayed nearby, the family and I had multiple massages. Veena was able to work out lower back pain as well as provide relaxing massages for the other members of the family. Only regret is that I didn't find her earlier in my vacation!
Very professional massage, Veena was scanning through my body with her hands finding every problematic spot in my tissue and she was working through every of it with good pressure and incredible movements.
Every minute of the massage was relaxing and enjoyable, I felt so much better after it. Next time I will go to Mauritius, I will go straight to Harmony Spa!

This casino is by far the worst casino for poker.
What makes is terrible is 2 things. Absolutly worthless florman which cannot even confirm a reservation or answer a message. He would reply for a few messages but later will ignore your followup questions. See attached history chat. Once i made a reservation he didnt confirm and when i came it was there but not for the table i ordered so i left. Time wasted, is that really that hard to answer or confirm a reservation?
Second thing the tables. I have never seen such filthy and old tables. Its a casino, they make money on cash tables, how can they be like this? The chips are so sticky when u lift them they stick together like overcooked pasta.
They have only 2 tables for cash that are normal hight. The rest of the tables when there are more people are like bar stools and my back was killing me after 2 hours. Most casinoes have their best tables for the cash games with better chairs and usb chargers… not here. Yet they have super new tables for tournaments. 😳
Playerswise its not bad. Alot of bad local players who just gamble. Money changes hands quick. Some tourists on vacation making it rain. On a good night u could forget all the negative.
The dealers count the pot for rakes after showdown which i find crazy. Normaly they count in their head mid game. This make the hands longer…
I came out to Mauritius specifically for their African Series Of Poker event, a festival they appear to be holding in various guises some 2-3 times each year.
The event itself was well run though there’s a few unusual practices I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world at poker events. There’s around 20 tables so they can cope with a reasonable amount of players too.
But most importantly the dealers knew what they were doing and didn’t get flustered (apart from one solitary incident), the floor managers were accurate in decisions, the service staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good quality and relatively cheap.
The other players were mostly quite friendly and quick to give advice regarding things to do/see in Mauritius and seemed surprised that I had flown here from England just for the poker event.
All in all I’d recommend coming out here for any ASOP event in the future if you want to combine poker with a beautiful island holiday. I believe they also hold events on the nearby Reunion island too but I can’t seem to find information on that.
Lots of stores and services. Including food court with restaurants and fast food. Car wash, ATM machines, grocery store, pharmacy, tattoo, hairdresser, etc. You will definitely found services you need there. Lots of parking facilities and even kids playground. Its very close to the beach and Grand Baie center as well.

Good supermarket. Has a very large selection of fresh and packaged produce. About as well stocked as any supermarket I've been to. Despite its size, it wasn't too busy when I went, so it was a comfortable experience.
