It included lettuce, tomato, Cucumber and peppers (this is a salad 🙌) I enjoyed it and wanted more. We didn't have any other food but looking around the afternoon tea looked super cute and the waffles and sandwiches too. We skipped past the massive cakes on offer, would have them all and thought about them all night. I would recommend this place and will come again.

I understand budget cuts have had to be made but I wish they could’ve retained the original menu items and simply increased the price. If I had visited on two different days or later in the day would all staff remember every customer that has used a voucher and refused to serve me again? They will get paid by Octopus for both my coffees so I can’t see their problem. My vouchers work in Greggs too where the staff are always friendly and obliging, so I will use my vouchers there from now on. Coffee is good, Friargate staff in my opinion are awful

As many products as they can are sourced from the surrounding market stalls and local area and this shows in the quality of the food that is served. Despite seeing at least ten staff members on the floor, it felt disjointed as the staff seemed more focused on cleaning and tidying behind the bar. While we were welcomed warmly and seated by a lovely lady upon arrival, there was a clear lack of table focus. We repeatedly had to seek out staff attention: we went to the bar to ask to order (and were told it was table service), had to ask to order dessert and then for our main plates to be cleared as desserts arrived. We also noticed the water bottles were filthy, they are notoriously hard to clean being the style they are, without proper cleaning they were full of bits and grime. This is my local cafe and I’ve popped in for a morning cuppa & toasted teacake. Quite nice but quality & value for money is not as good as other cafes I have recently visited. Tea cakes lack size & fluffiness. It’s always only two small packs of butter and you have to ask for more. The tea pot will only give 1.5 cups. At over £5 it’s lagging behind the competition. The location, however, is this cafe’s ace card with very nice walks and scenery close by. See well known video channel for pictures and videos of the area around the Beach Hut. By DocksideGlyn.
