The oatcakes were a bit disappointing as they were from a supermarket and didn't reflect the price of £6, you can get proper oatcakes at any other cafe for half the price. Sadly, the attitude of the staff ruined the visit. The lady cleaning the tables & toilets was very passive aggressive and even asked my wife if a toilet cubicle needed cleaning - very odd. I understand affordability when making a business, however, knock off teddy bear crisps from Tesco on display are pushing it. The food itself is less in quality than the food you would buy at the supermarket. And the staff have no shame in flaunting this to you. They will go into the back and bring out cans from supermarkets and microwave the remnants into a plastic container and serve it over a jacket potato. The experience in conclusion is very disappointing. I know that capabilities tearooms has a notorious connotation for being very hit or miss, but most of the time, it has been a miss for most people. Overall, if you find yourself low on breakfast/caffeine in longton between 9am and 3.30pm with costa money and wouldn't mind sitting in a traditional stoke painting then I think you have to go there. If you don't like all the boarded up windows on the shut down local businesses, nothing to do in longton, and all the big franchises permeating the outside everywhere then support this local social space and read their website too (it's a good read!)

I visited with my mum, and it felt especially meaningful as I’ve been following Lydia almost since her lockdown days, back when she first opened the Stoke branch. While studying at uni nearby, I visited countless times—I've definitely bought more bubble teas than I can count (plus the tote bag and two reusable metal straws <3). Both stores have such a warm, cosy vibe, with the delicious smell of egg waffles drifting through the air. The server was a real credit to the business, very polite and attentive, making conversation, explaining all the options available to me, and I was served promptly and efficiently. As it was my first visit here, I indulged myself with a breakfast wrap, which was incredible, Hot fresh and super delicious. There was a decent selection of hot/cold sandwiches/baguettes/wraps, cakes, biscuits and pastries available for the sweet and savoury tooth & health intolerant and/or other personal preference. The pricing, I was expecting to be at the top end of the scale for an establishment of this quality, but I was pleasantly surprised, with my breakfast and a pot of Tea coming in at just over £6.50 There is a reward scheme in place for the die hards, but the fact you have to have a debit/credit card linked to the rewards app to collect stamps didn't sit well with me so I didn't bother. Also the free medium sized drink after collecting 10 stamps can only be redeemed as take-away which I rarely do so for me this is something that can and should be improved down the line, To cater for those who would like to sit in and relax. However I have ordered again today from my joes thinking my last experience was a one off! Today it took over 2 and half hours for my food to arrive and had the food been decent I would of waved the wait time because myself and my family were absolutely starving, yet the food came freezing cold, mushrooms and black pudding undercooked and my daughter couldn’t even eat her burger and chips as not only was it cold but it was soggy! The manager seriously needs to consider how many orders they can actually cater for before accepting them. The storage of food during transport also needs to be addressed as clearly the food was not kept warm between the cafe and the commute! I am extremely disappointed with the quality of service both on my previous order and today’s. I shall not be returning again!
