Great stay – the staff were all lovely and very friendly. The room was clean, and the breakfast was excellent with plenty of options to suit all tastes. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The only downside for me was the parking. While it’s good that they offer a £4 discount (making it £6 instead of £10), the number of spaces near the entrance or front area was quite limited. I personally feel that if you’re paying over £100 for a night, parking should really be included.
That said, it was still an excellent overall experience, and I’ve given them five stars. However, next time I might be swayed to look for a hotel that offers free parking, as I believe paying guests shouldn’t be charged for it - as is the case in many other places.

Location is great for working/visiting stoke. Bit disappointed to have to pay for parking, cost £18 for three days with a 40%discount code given at reception. All staff have been lovely and helpful.
Breakfast was as expected, enough choice and everything was spotless.
Rooms are dated but very clean and with all the basics, but no milk for tea/coffee in the room. Unfortunately the aircon was very noisy and I could hear other guests all night as the doors and walls are very thin.

Absolutely wonderful hotel, team, and management. As frequent travelers, this hotel is in the top tier of professionalism and care to guests. Safe, clean, and beautifully maintained hotel. Room fantastic, really comfortable and clean. Location okay, good for visiting Alton towers. Staff and service really poor. I'm a solo traveller and when I was grabbing breakfast, staff gave the table away to a couple, then when I asked about it they left me hanging whilst my food cooled because they'd run out of tables, eventually they cleaned one and gave me a table but my food has gotten cold in the 10 minutes it took to get one. And they blamed me for choosing not to leave an object out to show I was there. I only had my phone, if it got stolen who would be liable? Would you take a table from the couple to give it to a solo traveller? No because you thought you could be sneaky with me. All in all that spoiled my stay. What a way to end the holiday. Then at reception your staff justified it by claiming being busy. For £150 I at least expect a peaceful breakfast!! I don't expect to have my table snatched away and then staff scramble to find me a new one.

This was a great Holiday Inn to stay in to break up a journey from the north to tge south. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff on reception and the food area were extremely helpful. I was struggling to open a packet of cereal, a member of staff noticed, went to the kitchen to get scissors and swiftly returned to open the packet for me. I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn, it is very good value.

Stayed for one night to visit my in-laws, plentiful parking with discount available if you are staying overnight. There is a harvester next door which was good for a simple meal and you are also right next to the Stoke City Stadium.
Dove Shampoo and body wash is provided in the bathroom along with a hairdryer and an iron & ironing board.
Comfy mattress, just a bit of a shock going from a king sized bed at home to a double bed - glad the dog wasn’t with us!!

There are definitely aspects of this hotel which need an overhaul. For a start, the temperature control in our room was an archaic wall unit which only runs when the room is occupied and needs several minutes to switch from blowing cold air to warm. It made a terrible noise so we switched it off overnight to wake to a cold room. The shower water pressure is lacking, which would be fine if the water got hot enough, but the temperature control tap was locked

We held a baby shower at the Potbank this weekend, and booked out a room at the venue for 4 hours.
It was perfect! The room itself is technically already decorated so you don’t have to worry about whether or not it will look good, we just added a few extra touches but you definitely don’t need to.
Around 2 hours in we had afternoon tea for around 16 people, the service was super quick and the staff were so helpful. If I had to recommend anywhere to go, it would be here!

I’ve been here a few times now. For dinner and for breakfast and every time it’s been top notch. I love this place. It’s so quirky and unique, I love the history behind it and the decor is amazing. But the food…… the food is always a 10/10 for me. The breakfast bagel stacks are out of this world, I couldn’t eat one every day or I’d be huge 😂 but as a treat here and there it’s now my go to for a breaky treat.the other meals I’ve had there are just as gorgeous and worth every penny. Absolutely beautiful food. Possibly the nicest food I’ve had from anywhere. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are always friendly and cheerful. So if you’ve never been then definitely give this place a visit. It’s absolutely worth it. I’ll be back again in a few weeks and am even planning on going for my birthday in November. Love love love the place.

Great place!! Took our son out for his birthday while here at Uni. This is a very good and quirky restaurant and the food was excellent!! Closes at 11pm bit has bar and seating outside. next time we are down to see Joe we are going to stay here as it has rooms too and food is brilliant!! The steak I ordered was done to perfection (medium rare) and others had the Fish Medley which my son 'hoovered' up🤣🤣 Students!!

Visited for the first time today for my daughter's 21st birthday. We were greeted by a warm and friendly welcome. There was 9 of us and catered for us with no issues. Did not need to pre-order our food. We were given plenty of time to choose our food and drinks. We did not have to wait long for our food. Food was exceptional, so much food on our plates. Some of us managed to squeeze in a pudding from a great choice. The restaurant started to get full by the time we ordered deserts but still didn't have to wait long. We took a birthday cake and they kept it safe until we needed it and they brought it out with the candles lit. We were given time to sort out the bill between us. Have to mention Beth, who was lovely. Thank you to all the staff who do a great job and looked after us as though we were the only party there. Definitely recommend to anyone.😊

Excellent museum in a lovely building with plenty of interesting items on display from the local area and information about historical local figures. Something for all ages. My 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed the Victorian street and loved the kitchen range. Friendly staff on hand. It's free but deserves a donation. Cafe and little shop on site. Outside there's an aviary, sandpit, gardens and childrens park. Plenty of available parking.

Fabulous find! I was in the are and at a loose end and stumbled upon The Brampton Museum.
Inside there's lots of local history, a well curated art gallery with an interesting mix of pieces, and a nostalgia section full of toys and games from various different eras.
There's also a Victorian street with lots of recreated shop fronts, you can peer inside and look at the ephemera. I was most fascinated by the doctors surgery and all the tools and equipment inside.
After the museum and gallery I had a bite to eat at the vintage tea room inside the building. The food was great, the service was excellent and I'd thoroughly recommend visiting for a great way to spend a couple of hours.

What a fantastic museum! Great exhibits, excellent food and cuppa from the cafe, but mostly what a thriving, friendly, reaching-out place. We went for the Black Victorians afternoon and there was so much happening that we could get involved with. Spent a very happy hour making a collage. (Why don't adults get to do this sort of thing more often?) Highly recommended and I will definitely be visiting again, even though I live an hour away in Shropshire.

IAM sure the museum is good but oh how disappointing when one has traveled the cafe is cash only . The cafe lost a sale of two lunches and resulted in disappointed customers. In this day and age it is astonishing and poor business sense. It reflects badly on the museum.
And scrabbling around for the car for £2.50 that doesn't suffice for a cup of tea.
Both museum and franchise officer need to reflect upon this poor service.
That said the food looked good and staff were pleasant.

Loved this place. Our first time there for just one night to celebrate our anniversary. Will definitely be going back as we both felt so relaxed there. Beautiful settings and garden, great for heading out on a walk. Decor and ambience just lovely. Food was excellent (and not 'messed with' as my husband would say!). Wow, just wow! We found the Upper House in 2023 recently after getting engaged. As soon as we visited this venue, we knew we didn’t need to look elsewhere, as this was THE PLACE. Throughout our engagement the venue were always on hand, welcoming with open arms and supportive all the way. We couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to get married here! Not only was the value for money absolutely incredible, nothing was too much for the venue! Our day was everything we could have wished for AND MORE! Ellie, Caitlin and the team were outstanding from start to finish. The food was incredible, our outdoor ceremony was perfect and our guests loved every second! We had a most enjoyable few days at The Upper House and would love to return in the future.
The ambience is truly relaxing and feels like a friendly country house. We were grateful to be able to bring our dog at the last minute as our sitter let us down (I believe small dogs are welcome) and when we needed an extra night this also was not a problem, with our bags being moved to the new room for us.
It is a perfect base for exploring the potteries, and luckily we didn't see everything we'd hoped to so we'll have to come back ;) but I'd have been equally happy to relax in the beautiful sitting room and gardens and walk locally.
The gardens are perfect, beautifully planted with seasonally interesting shrubs and plants, and with several linked areas which I can imagine children would love to explore.
I was particularly impressed by the absence of bossy messages so often found in hotels - it felt more like being guests in a friend's house and encouraged respect for the surroundings.
My only criticism is that there was nowhere to hang a wet coat - and it did rain a lot while we were there! A couple of hooks/coat stand in the outer porch for guests to use at their own risk would have been great. Although it would necessitate a bossy sign......

Afternoon tea. £27.50 worth the price, NO. I only ate 2 finger cheese and onion (this was a quick swap and thank goodness or else I wouldn't have eaten any) Chicken wrap tasted of fish, so these were left. I tried each of the 5 treats, éclair was the only tasty one for me. I had a 3rd of the scone, tasteless, the cream wasn't nice at all. As pretty as the afternoon tea looked, it wasn't for us.
No staff came to ask for drinks, one point we had to stop and ask. Three staff came to log the fire, which was next to us, but no offer of drinks.
We left the setting area, once in the corridor, we were asked three times by three different staff if we had finished, they were shocked at how much was left.
I would recommend other places. I love an afternoon tea, just not this one.

My husband and I chose a package at the Upper House for our wedding in October of 2025. It was an absolutely stunning venue and all of the staff were phenomenal- going above and beyond in ensuring that our special day was everything we hoped it could be. As someone who struggles with mental health difficulties, planning a wedding felt overwhelming and anxiety inducing but the wedding co-ordinators at the venue were incredibly reassuring and helped make the process far more accessible for me from the moment we booked in with them. I was blown away by how hard the staff worked to make sure everything ran smoothly. The food in particular was fantastic, and the kitchen team is clearly very skilled. I was so grateful I chose the Upper House for our wedding.

On the 19th-21st of October (2025), my stay at the Upper House Hotel in Stoke-on-Trent was marred by a deeply unsettling encounter with a receptionist. As my son and I approached the front desk, the receptionist emerged from a back room with another woman, both visibly sniggering after looking directly at me. This blatant disrespect, in full view of my young son, left us both feeling humiliated and unwelcome. My son later confided that the moment felt “weird,” which no guest—let alone a child—should experience.
The receptionist’s condescending tone, treating me as if I were a child, only compounded the issue. It was clear she viewed me as the subject of some private joke, which was not only unprofessional but deeply hurtful. I restrained myself from reacting in the moment but, upon leaving, calmly expressed my disappointment to her directly. Regrettably, this did little to resolve the sting of the encounter.
It’s a shame this incident overshadowed an otherwise commendable stay. Every other staff member we encountered was courteous, attentive, and professional, making the receptionist’s behavior stand out as an unacceptable anomaly. I urge the management of Upper House Hotel to address this conduct through staff training or disciplinary measures to ensure no other guest endures such disrespect.

We recently stayed in the King Junior Suite and were truly impressed. The room is incredibly spacious and perfect for an extended stay.
The bathroom was a real highlight—large enough for my 6’3” husband to fit comfortably in the bathtub, which is rare to find! The separate walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head was excellent, and the space was so generous that two of us could bathe and shower at the same time without feeling cramped. For a hotel, the bathroom size is outstanding.
The only difficulty we experienced was with the beds. We prefer medium firmness, but the king bed was very firm, and the sofa bed was unfortunately uncomfortable. That said, the staff went above and beyond to provide mattress toppers and duvets to improve the comfort. They were genuinely concerned about our experience and made every effort to help us feel at ease, which we greatly appreciated.
The atmosphere throughout the hotel is wonderful. From reception to housekeeping and maintenance, every member of staff greeted us warmly in the hallways and lifts. It truly creates a welcoming environment, and the team’s dedication and care set this hotel apart.
Breakfast was another highlight. The selection is outstanding, always plentiful, warm, and delicious. Food was constantly replenished, even towards the end of service, so you never felt rushed. The extended breakfast hours are also a great touch for flexibility.
The leisure facilities were enjoyable as well. The pool is a little on the small side but well-managed with bookings, and the staff always tried to accommodate me if I wanted to swim. The sauna and steam room were lovely, though understandably busy at times. I didn’t use the gym myself, but it looked clean, modern, and not too crowded.
We also appreciated the manager’s attentiveness—he listened carefully to our feedback and was both understanding and reassuring.

Really great stay at the DoubleTree Stoke-on-Trent. Hotel’s in a good location with free parking, and check-in was super easy. The receptionist was lovely and even gave us a celebration voucher for a drink at the bar, which was a nice touch.
Room was spacious, clean, and nicely refurbished with a comfy bed. It was quiet too, even facing the road with the windows open. Only downside was the lack of a fridge, but it looked like reception could store things if needed.
The gym looked decent with a few weights and not just the usual treadmill and bike. You do need to book a slot for the pool area, but thankfully the receptionist slotted us in. The pool itself was smaller than I expected, but the steam room was great.
Breakfast was busy and the space felt a bit cramped for the size of the hotel, but it was well stocked and good value. The bar was really nice with reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff.
Overall, the staff were brilliant - some of the friendliest I’ve come across in a hotel. Would happily stay again, especially for the value.

The welcome at the hotel was fantastic. Jane was very friendly and diligent at check-in and the detail of the cookies was great. The room and the hotel are very clean. The rooms are modern, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good. Only that the food lacked a little more temperature in the trays where they are served. Ok so this place surpassed my expectations. I got married here 30 years ago and my city has suffered since. The hotel has changed hands a few times since and I wasn’t expecting much but it really was great. It’s a big hotel. The rooms are huge. It’s been very well redecorated throughout. 2 small complaints
1. Lift is a bit tatty.
2. Ground floor lobby is like the land that ti forgot.

Nice place. Good size stage. Long queues for drinks and toilet. Asked staff about buying a mug out the display cabinet at the start of the evening. As they have no shop to buy memorabilia. They were to busy so I left it until the end of the night and asked again. To be told it was to late we,re closed. There loss of around £50. As I always by more than I should. Disappointed in that. But the show was amazing! Believe the hype.

We had a brilliant visit to the MAC Panto. A last minute decision on a rainy day. Quick phone call to sort tickets and lunch. Greeted by name on arrival. Had lunch in the child friendly cafe and watched a truly super Cinderella. The staff at Mitchell Arts Centre were all welcoming and helpful. Our grandchildren aged 3 and 5 asked on the way out if they could come back every day! p.s. there are a host of child workshops and other activities AND parking is free in the Tesco next door if you fill out your reg number in the foyer.

As Australian retirees we were already stressed about finding our way around Britain in a rental car. That all changed when we met Abbie and Bridie. Their friendliness was infectious. They welcomed us with a no-nonsense check-in, easy parking on site, an appetising restaurant breakfast menu and clear explanations about our stay. Nothing was too much for them. We chose a Standard room which was well appointed, spacious, very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Later we walked to other eating places and shops nearby. Our stay here was a delight. MAIN REASON, the rooms windows do not open , i cannot believe this growing trend in premier Inn!! also turned out that the bathroom extractor wasn't working, and the heating, set on 24 C was blowing out cold air all night. Car park is a good size and easy to navigate. No trouble finding a space.
Check in was quick, but the welcome felt lacking. It looked like one staff member was being trained, and they were talking to each other rather than greeting guests. I gave my surname and was handed a key card. Efficient, but very little interaction. The self service check in beside them would have offered a similar experience.
The walk to the room felt like stepping back in time. Green walls, dim lighting and very dated carpet.
The room itself is well designed. Plenty of storage hooks, a prep area with mirror and hairdryer, a decent desk, large comfortable bed, fridge, coffee machine and useful USB ports beside the bed. A lot of thought has gone into the layout.
However, the cleanliness let it down. Skirting boards and walls had tea marks, the window frame was peeling and mouldy, there was spilled juice left in the fridge, hair in the sink and mould in the bathroom corners. This suggests housekeeping checks are not thorough.
After showering it was clear the extractor fan was not working, which explains the mould. The hairdryer made a terrible sound, produced no airflow and started to smell burnt. The PAT test label was three years out of date, and the iron had the same issue. Maintenance appears to be neglected.
The Wi Fi was unfortunately down during our stay, which was a key reason for choosing a Premier Plus room, so I had to use my own data.
The location is convenient for Stoke and the room layout is very good, but the lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance and unreliable Wi Fi would make me hesitant to book again if planning to work from the room.

The friendly and helpful staff make this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very customer focused. We had a two night stay here last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable, plenty of variety at breakfast and a nice relaxed atmosphere around the bar area in the evenings. We also made use of the pool which, for a fee, was a bonus after a long day at Alton Towers, which is a short drive away. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic quality hotel for an unbelievable price. May be a 3 star hotel but they run it like a 5 star hotel. My room was so clean, not to mention spacious and very comfortable. Complete with TV and kettle and lots of plump pillows. Couldn't believe I was getting all that for the price I was paying. The staff down at reception are very sweet and friendly. I love that they've for their own pool and jacuzzi (though sadly didn't get the chance to try it). Came here to visit Alton Towers and I will definitely be back again at some point.

My 10 year old son and I had to live in this hotel due to an unfortunate private rental housing issue (bad landlord, poor and dangerous state of rented property)
We were sent to a different hotel at first but it was completely horrendous and inappropriate so were relocated here and immediately, as soon as we walked through the door at around 8pm we were made to feel welcome & comfortable which was extremely important to me considering the situation we were in and the previous hotel we'd come from!
We were given the key and shown to the room. The staff couldn't do enough for us!
The room was lovely and clean, with all of the amenities you'd want! (All of which were absent in the first hotel we stayed in) the ensuite bathroom/shower was an impressive size ! & was again, lovely and clean! very well lit with help from the large mirror which had bulbs all around it.
There's lifts that actually work! to help those who can't manage the stairs or just as a safety aspect for carrying your luggage.
There's 24 hour reception assistance and there's also an in-house restaurant serving breakfast and dinner and there's a separate room which I believe serves alcohol (I didn't use this room so I'm not entirely sure)
The hotel is directly opposite Stoke train station and you're in close proximity to many of the Cities towns, so it's in a really good location for 'getting around' .. the University is just around the corner, literally the next street.. and the college is also nearby!
We were here for approximately 6 weeks and the service never wavered!

What a shame they haven't looked after this beautiful old building. Our room was basic with broken furniture and a lot of mould around the rotting windows. My husband had to fix the TV to get it working There was a problem with thick dust, even in the mattress which housed a moth infestation. There was no non slip mat for a very slippery bath and no bath mat for a tiled bathroom floor. Although advertised as dog friendly the only place for the dog to spend a penny was a rubbish strewn overgrown car park with nowhere to dispose of the poo bag.
The female receptionists didn't even acknowledge me for some time whilst I stood in front of them. One was on the phone to someone, repeated her message several times before pulling a face and hanging up, the other simply ignored me. I was then forced to pay even though I said I'd already paid. This was immediately refunded. No directions offered to locate the lift or our rooms. Happily the subsequent male receptionists were both lovely.
The location was central , with free car parking but would I stay again? Absolutely not as I value my health.

Reasonably priced. Room and toilet was clean. Reception was poor, the women at the desk is not interested in helping me check in at all. Hallways and other communal areas stink. If you had to buy breakfast separately it’s 11 pounds and the breakfast was ok at best the coffee was instant coffee. The breakfast is not worth more than 4 pounds in my opinion.

We stayed for 2 nights to visit Alton Towers this weekend. It was a bargain price and I wasn't expecting great things. But it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Yes the hotel rooms are a bit dated and worn in places, but the place was spotlessly cleaned with immaculate bedding and towels. The beds were firm and comfy and the room was relatively quiet. The staff were friendly and courteous. For a short stay it was ideal and if I had to fault anything it would be that the wifi in the rooms isn't free. Apart from that I'd definitely stay here again. 👍

In its day it would have been a lovely place to stay. Its very tired but you can tell the owners are doing their best. The staff were friendly and helpful but would have proved useful when checking in, was to be reminded to pay the £5 parking charge! The rooms were clean and tidy again decor a bit tired but for £58 for a night, have had a lot worse.. The restaurant was not open , bar menu only. Lots of takeaways nearby couldn't find a dining restaurant within walking distance and didn't want to risk moving the car in fear of not having to pay for parking somewhere else.

Room was very spacious and very comfortable.
Bar and restaurant was great, and breakfast was plentiful, even having dairy free options.
Car park was opposite the hotel and registration was required at check in as a hotel guest.

Amazing Showers and rooms for short stays. Not to expensive either. Beds were comfy and room had nice big TV.
Showers were the best bit, if i recall, they where fountain showers with spacious room. Plenty of towels and toiletries as well.
We stayed here to visit Alton Towers nearby for the weekend and there's a bus to the site every 30-60mins. If you have a car, even easier.
Only negative was some of the food. The all you can eat breakfast was amazing with both savory and sweet/healthy options but the standard lunch/dinner menu felt very weatherspoons quality ect.
Overall would recommend to stay but get lunch/dinner else were.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Standards Have Dropped Significantly !!!
As Hilton Honors members, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Stoke-on-Trent for three nights, booking two rooms. While the hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious enough for 2 to 3 people for a short stay, our overall experience was extremely disappointing — especially for a hotel of this supposed standing.
First and foremost, the lack of basic amenities in the rooms is shocking. No complimentary bottled water, an empty mini-fridge, and not even the most essential bathroom items like cotton buds, makeup remover pads, or hygiene kits. This is simply unacceptable for a Hilton-branded hotel and not something we’ve encountered elsewhere in the chain.
What’s even more frustrating is that I had already stayed here in April 2024, and I’ve clearly noticed a decline — particularly in staff attitude. The level of hospitality and friendliness is severely lacking. The staff were indifferent at best, and their general approach to customer service leaves a lot to be desired. For a brand that claims to value loyalty and service, this was a major letdown.
We expected better, and quite frankly, we deserved better.

We only stayed for a short layover before travelling further. The room was clean and quiet, mattress comfortable.
Parking was free on the side of the building. There is some wear visible, like broken blinds and wobbly fittings, but this didn't affect our stay, as there were blackout curtains on the windows.
My only suggestion is to get smaller mugs for a coffee machine, even though the provided ones were beautiful they were too big to fit properly.
Overall good for short stays and we would use this again if we visit Stoke on Trent.
