This sounds dumb and trivial but it was a little off putting since that’s really the first thing you encounter. We had reservations and were seated inside, it’s really dark (my photos were taken with night mode on) and quiet inside which was very nice. The only problem that’s come to mind with this place is that the food/steak simply isn’t worth the pricing. The service 100% is, but the steak was no better than a steak from your average steakhouse. The service was great and really was worth the experience, it was fun! But outside of the low light, fancy service and fine dining facade is the fact that this restaurant is not a small independent restaurant but instead owned by a conglomerate. That becomes noticeable by the sheer amount of people they are able to get into that building/parking lot as well as high priced meats for average quality. The prices are inflated because of the fact that it is fine dining, even though the parent group is, I’m sure, getting great prices as they are buying in bulk for several restaurants but not passing them onto the customer. The selling point of this hotel is that it is not your typical cookie cutter type restaurant and definitely has its original charm given it was erected in 1864. We received a complimentary upgrade to the Superior King room (thank you Lou) and this room is extremely spacious and lovely. It boasts a plush king size bed, ample walk area, modern tv where you can cast your phone, card less door entry, and an amazing bathroom with rainshower and ample natural sunlighting. Come morning, we received a small breakfast breakfast with muffins, OJ, and fruit. All very much touch and are complimentary, along with the bottle of Saratoga water in the room. Now we did have a chance to eat at their in-house restaurant called Swift. We were able to partake in their happy hour menu where a glass of wine is $7 and there were so many choices of food set at $10 happy hour pricing. We had shrimp cocktails which came with 5 large size shrimps, and fried calamari with capers, a Wilburburger with fries...each for $10. My wife ordered the pan seared chilean sea bass for $42. The only minor complaint food wise is the sea bass skin is too charred and the french fries is a bit too fried. But honestly, very minor complaint and everything else menu wise we had were stupendous and shout out to our bartender Katie. We definitely recommend this place and will come back.
