The facilities are excellent, the toilets and showers are always clean and well-maintained, there’s a laundrette, a lovely swimming pool, and an incredible play park that kept our kids entertained for hours. There are also plenty of shops on site, two restaurants (the food at The Old Barn was amazing!), and even an ice cream shop that quickly became a daily stop for us. Plassey is a great site if you just want to relax and stay on-site, but it also makes a great base for exploring the area. During our stay, we visited Chester Zoo, the Ice Cream Farm, and even went fruit picking, all within easy reach. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which really added to the positive experience. A couple of things to note if you’re booking: if you don’t have a dog, I’d avoid Spring Meadow pitch 39. It’s right next to the gate to the dog field, so you’ll get quite a bit of foot traffic early in the morning and late at night. We also had people cutting through our pitch to access the gate, which wasn’t ideal. I suggested to staff that a small fence and designated path might help with this, and they were open to the idea. Over the weekend, there was a large group of families nearby and their children were using the dog field as a playground, which meant it was quite noisy at times and again involved a lot of running across pitches. If you prefer a quieter spot (especially with young kids who go to bed early), I’d recommend choosing a pitch away from that area on weekends. One last thing – all pitches are hard standing, which is great for avoiding mud, but make sure you bring proper rock pegs. We also brought foam mats for inside the tent which helped a lot. Unfortunately, when we packed up, we discovered a leftover peg from a previous camper had been buried in the pitch and had torn a hole in our tent and footprint. While the wardens were very apologetic and came out to check the pitch, it was disappointing that no goodwill gesture (like a partial refund or discount for our next trip) was offered, especially since they usually check for leftover pegs between bookings, although we do understand that these things can happen and it’s likely covered in the site’s T&Cs. Despite that, this didn’t ruin our trip. We still had a fantastic time and would 100% recommend Plassey to families looking for a clean, well-equipped, and fun site. As was the Toilet and shower blocks too. The food in the coffee shop on site was good as was the pizza we had in the bar and restaurant in the evening. Staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. No hesitation in giving this place 5 stars across the board. I’d definitely recommend it for families.

Other than that great all round. There is a 2-3 mile walk around the surrounding area starting and finishing on site, good bar, pitch and put, 9 hole golf and the best bit is for the kids. Been wanting to come here for quite a while but the cost in high season and bank holidays is too expensive, so we came out of season.... so glad we did, can now see what you get for your money. Beautiful grounds, fantastic pitches, and excellent facilities. My only critique is that there are not enough toilets and showers near to the camping area you are on. There are only 2 toilets and 3 showers, both in separate buildings for the campers on the main field to use. I would imagine in high season when the site is full it would be a problem. I had to hang around a couple of times to go to the loo and the site wasn't full. Would I come again, absolutely I would but not in high season.

(Originale) Thought we would give this a try whilst shopping locally. Its a brand new build and a new Costa with a drive through. We decided to sit in and have coffee. The shop was quiet inside although there was a steady stream of cars through the drive through. The food and drink was fine, typical Costa as you would expect. I was however quite surprised how messy the place was. Tables had not been cleared or wiped down and the floor looked like it needed a good sweep - see the photos. There were three members of staff serving. Either one of them needed to find the time to service the seating area or more staff were needed on duty. At one point my wife and I were the only people in the shop so it wasn't busy. There was no 4G reception inside on EE (full service outside the building). In fact all I got was "no service" on my phone. I am finding this is typical of most Costas I visit now. It must be something about the way their new buildings are designed. Watery gravy, crinkle cut chips that looked as beige as a Dulux paint sample (and undercooked) and an inedible pie. I didn’t want to judge on looks but when I gave it a try I couldn’t continue. It was tasteless and inedible. My partner called the lovely female waitress over who assured us further, apologised, took the food and went to see if she could assist us further which was appreciated. She returned and asked if I would like something else or a refund, I opted for the refund as by this point my family had finished eating and I rather lost my appetite. As my partner kindly went to get the refund for my mother-in-law he was then interrogated (or, so it felt like!) by a waiter behind the bar who was issuing the refund. He asked my partner what was wrong, rather than letting my partner finish he kept butting in, said we could have resolved the issue regarding the gravy (yet, they did try to resolve it as they gave me the option of a new meal or a refund, like they were trying to point the blame on us) and apparently the chips haven’t been ‘homemade’ for 9 months and hasn’t even changed the menu!
