ニューヨークから北に300kmほど。車で3時間半ほど掛かりますが、WBCの余韻もあってこちらを訪れてみました。 展示はアメリカ人の選手が多いのですが、イチローさんのユニフォームなども展示されていました。 何でも独立戦争の際に陸軍の訓練としてこちらで初めて野球の試合が行われたとのこと。 いわば野球の聖地です。 展示は色々と工夫されてますので、館内を休憩しつつ2時間ほど掛けて堪能させてもらいました。 大谷選手はまだ登場していませんが、きっとベーブ・ルースコーナー並みのスペースを確保してくれることを期待したいものです。

長時間 駐車する場合、"Doubleday field lot"の利用をオススメします。博物館周辺には野球関連の商品を扱う店が多く点在しており、欲しい商品を見て回るには多くの時間が必要になります。
