This beach faces the Bass Strait, so the ocean is rougher, wilder, more dramatic which attracts surfers or people who like waves. If you like rugged coastline, rock pools, crashing waves and strong winds now and then, this place is awesome. Access is easy enough with plenty of parking around. There's a nice café with a good selection of food and drinks. I like to just grab a coffee and watch the surf and then either go for a hike up the lookout. There are also another longer walking track which hugs along the cliffs. The rock pools are a highlight, especially at low tide. The scenery is great for photos and attracts a family with kids playing and exploring in the rock pools. The beach itself has stretches of sand but also quite a few rocks in and around the water, which means swimming is risky in places. There are life saving flags at busy times, but it does get dangerous around the rocks or when the waves are big. Crowds pick up in summer, especially on weekends, so it can feel packed at peak times and parking can be a pain then. Overall though, it’s one of my favourite ocean‑beaches near Melbourne. It’s dramatic, beautiful, and feels like a proper ocean escape. Just bring your swimmers, hat, water, and respect the surf. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and a little awed.
