However I was eager to experience the other aspect of Zostel – that is the private rooms. I was pretty skeptical initially as google reviews of the private rooms were not very encouraging. After a lot of inquiry and talking with Santosh bhai (Whom I will come to later), we booked the superdelux room. And boy we were impressed! Contrary to the reviews, the room was super clean. The bedsheets were spotless, and so was the other furniture. We stayed in room number 109. They provided a standing fan which we didnt require as Shillong is a pretty cold place. They had provided bottled water as well as electric kettle for your tea/coffee needs. There was a table with 2 chairs. The washroom was huge and very clean. There is a huge bathtub and a jacuzzi which worked partly. Towels and basic toiletries were provided. Wifi connectivity was good throughout the property. They also have an in-house cafe on the ground floor within the premises which serves some yummy food. We tried their ginger lemon honey tea and khichdi – both were delicious. The USP of the property is the huge common room on the 2nd floor. It is a pretty chilled out area with indoor as well a scenic outdoor seating area. There are sofas, chairs & tables for sitting. They have some indoor board games, books to read, a table tennis table and a TV with big speakers attached. It is a great place to meet other backpackers staying there. Also, the morning and night view of Shillong from the balcony are amazing. Another USP – Santosh Bhai. It isn't surprising that 95% of the google reviews mention him. He deserves all the praise. He is extremely helpful. He will help you plan your itinerary and suggest few good offbeat places. Our stay at Zostel was the first day of our 10 day trip to Meghalaya. And so we discussed our entire itinerary with Santosh Bhaiyya. The fact that he was impressed with our itinerary was so satisfying. Room for improvement – the wooden floor of our room was pretty noisy and squeaky. Also, since we were on a long trip, we had a lot of luggage. Hygiene was essential as we were traveling with kid. Cassiopea Guest House deserves 10 on 10 in that aspect. As we went in December, it was very cold and they gave room heater, electric kettle in the room and instant water heater was installed in bathroom to make our stay comfortable. (원문) We recently went on a holiday to Meghalaya. Due to the busy summer holiday season, we found it difficult to get an accommodation. I randomly found this home stay right in the heart of Shillong. When I spoke with Mr Suraj, the owner of the property, he was very cordial and forthcoming and he made an itinerary for us for our 3 days of stay there. The rooms were very clean. Owner not at all interested to address our problem. We decided to skip the breakfast which was complimentary by the way. Room rent is expensive compared to the rooms. We had booked for 2 nights but we left in the morning 8am as we are very much uncomfortable. We paid the whole bill and left. And the owner when called was not listening to our words and left.
