The Royal Château of Blois is a former palace featuring ornate royal chambers and a collection of paintings and sculptures spanning from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Situated in the heart of a town, it comprises several distinct buildings dating back to the 1200s through the 1600s, totaling over 560 rooms and 75 stairways. Notably, it boasts a renaissance exterior spiral staircase on the Francis wing.
Very nice location and worth the visit! It really shows well how the place was modified along the ages. Guides are fantastic and really engaging. The light show was another great highlight!

I really enjoyed the visit to this chateau, with its beautiful architecture and decorations. It also was well displayed and explained on information plates, plus the audio guides were a great help.
Adie K — Google review
We got the castle and light show combo for €22. The light show tells the history of the castle and is really impressive. The castle is bigger than it looks—it took us about 3 hours to explore. Very elegant inside, with beautiful furniture.
Alexandru L — Google review
The light and sound show was spectacular - wish I hadn't declined the English translation service as no idea what they were talking about. The night time experience was also very good. Recommend but take up the free translation

One of my favourite places in Loire Valley. So much history, so much to see inside and not busy at all. 4 different eras of buildings and super easy to navigate! Plus Blois is such a beautiful beautiful town!
Gabriela S — Google review
Beautiful Château with a long history going through different Kings and different Architecture style as well. They have a light show in the night which explain a long history -> amazing experince to listen and understand more about that😉
Quỳnh N — Google review
The various buildings abs their history is interesting and the histopad gives you the information that you would otherwise not know by just looking at them. Although inside is mostly artwork with a few pieces of furniture, again the histopad gives you that extra.

Fondation du Doute is a contemporary art center located in a vibrant space, showcasing an eclectic collection of multimedia works. The museum is dedicated to the radical Fluxus movement of the 60s and 70s, which aimed to challenge traditional perceptions of art and its place in people's lives. The museum features 300 pieces of work by 50 different artists, including a playful installation called the Wall of Words by artist Ben Vautier.
Very interesting and modern art, much of which is interactive. Fun things to do, we were able to make our own flags that will be displayed in an exposition. Really recommend!

Fantastic place. The art makes you think. Delightful. A little warm, though, despite the fans and one air conditioner.

Amanda V — Google review
It's a very different museum. You will find the concept of chaotic art in almost every artwork in the museum. The fluxux was also a new concept for me which applies to any sort of non-harmonic way of art which changes your point of view when next time you look at a painting or a photography.

The Robert-Houdin House of Magic, located in front of the Chateau Royal in the Loire Valley, is a large 19th-century house that offers an immersive experience into the history of magic and the life of local magician Eugene Robert-Houdin. The museum spans over five levels and features original exhibitions, optical illusions, and over 2000 square meters dedicated to showcasing the art of conjuring.
I hesitated at first because I'm not a big fan of magic, but the experience completely captivated me. It is so interesting to see objects that have been used in magic numbers, so much energy charge, I absolutely loved everything. The experience is delightful and I really recommend visiting, the ticket price includes a mini magic show and at the end the store offers you a multitude of extraordinary things.
Sasha — Google review
We had a fantastic time at the house of magic in Blois! My kids were absolutely amazed by the magicians performance live tricks throughout the museum. It really brought the magic to life in such a fun and interactive way! But the highlight for all of us was definitely the dragons that appear from the Windows every half hour. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever and couldn't stop talking about it! If you are in the area, this museum is definitely worth a visit. Even better: entry is free for children under 6 years old and the other ticket prices are very reasonable! Definitely a magical experience for the whole family! You don't need reservations, you can buy tickets at the entrance on the day of your visit.
Kenneth B — Google review
The museum was great.. not big, but very nice… and two great extras: the magic show is simple but very efective (mimic only … so great for non-french) and the coffeshop as very good crepes (loved the lemon curd fill) and an amazing REAL apple fruit juice … see photos
Jorge G — Google review
Amazing find, and truly enchanting addition to Blois. This is a different experience to other chateau’s and a deep dive into the history of magic and Robert-Houdin. The museum was interesting and interactive and the show was a surprising, yet fantastic extra included in the entry fee. Kept my children on the edge of the seats in amazement throughout the show (6-13 yrs)
Ben N — Google review
A great experience with two magic shows included. Every half an hour dragons appear out of the windows at the front
Stephen M — Google review
Situated just opposite the Chateau is this museum. For A relatively small fee we were able to experience both the museum and a show in the theatre at the premises. The show in the theatre was amazing with this being a great experience. My dissapointment was that the museum itself felt quite small, it could do with one or two more illusions to be installed. I would still highly recommend to go, with both children and adults enjoying this. If you manage to hit both the theatre show (this only occurs 2/3 times a day from memory) and the smaller shows in some of the rooms as well as the museum this museum does offer exceptional value, I would suggest to find out when the theatre shows are before arriving.
Nathan T — Google review
The museum is lovely, with some amazing interactive tricks and interesting displays. We went to see the magic show too, which did not disappoint. There are also some quite amazing animatronic dragons which come out of the windows A great experience!
Jonty P — Google review
Spent a rainy afternoon here and it was well worth the visit, despite not understanding the language of the close up magic shows. The show in the main theatre was great, all mime and some classic magic tricks, perfect for the whole family. The room of illusions was also lots of fun

(Translated by Google) It's included in the castle tour, so that's obviously a very positive point. However, I don't think I'll be very receptive. The works follow one another, with a lot of reading material. The setting is pleasant, but the rooms aren't intended to be historical recreations like the rest of the castle; they're simply an exhibition space. I admit I was bored, but the museum is quite beautiful. I'll leave some photos to give you an idea of what you might find there.

Catholic church
St. Saturnin's Church, one of the oldest in Blois, has a rich history dating back to a pre-Roman chapel. Reconstructed in the 16th century with support from Anne de Bretagne, it suffered damage during religious conflicts but was restored later on. Offering stunning views of Blois and the chateau, this church was once a significant pilgrimage site. It houses NOTRE DAME des Aydes and is where Joan of Arc had her soldiers confess before battle.
(Translated by Google) Opposite the atre stands this astonishing church. Inside, I discovered a volunteer who was as talkative as he was interesting and passionate, who gave a lot of information about the church itself but also about the works exhibited there. Absolutely worth seeing and discovering even if it seems that it is not so easy to find an open door.

(Translated by Google) A church with Carolingian origins, destroyed and rebuilt several times, in part or almost entirely, fires, storms and destruction linked to different conflicts have marked its history. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the projects started were not completed. The charm of the building lies in this mixture of styles and its strange exterior and/or interior appearance. Beautiful stained glass windows light up this church, whose original wooden vault was replaced in the 16th century by a stone vault. The chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame des Aydes is remarkable. The statue of the virgin, originally recovered by the sailors, and object of a particular cult, having disappeared during the revolution of 1789, was replaced by a statue of the Virgin and Child. The chapel dedicated to Saint-Pierre, patron saint of mariners, is equipped with spectacular stained glass windows. This church was located in the Vienne district, this district was that of freshwater sailors, "the chalandoux", who navigated the Loire, a complicated river. On the west side, opposite the gate, on the other side of the street, is a strange building, the Aître Saint-Saturnin. Today a lapidary museum, this old gallery cemetery from the 16th century escaped the wars of religion.

La Tour Beauvoir is a historic square tower in Blois, dating back to the 1100s. Originally part of a fortress belonging to the Lords Seigneurs of Beauvoir, it was later incorporated into the city's defensive ramparts in the 13th century. The tower also served as a prison after the Chateau de Blois prison was relocated here. This ancient structure offers insight into the region's medieval history and architectural heritage.

Blois City Hall is a welcoming place where the employees are always available and friendly. The city itself is described as superb, with kind and nice people. Visitors appreciate the historical significance of the city and its convenient transportation options. Additionally, there are heartwarming stories about a youth association helping elderly and isolated individuals in the area. However, there are also concerns about accessibility to the mayor for ordinary citizens.

(Translated by Google) One sign among others that the town hall doesn't care about complaints: at the top of rue Porte-Côté, just opposite the church, a pedestrian light is only green for 7 seconds, before remaining red for 2 minutes 30 seconds; when you point out this anomaly (encouraging exasperated pedestrians to cross on the red light, risking their lives because of the brutality of motorists): 1) you don't get an answer; 2) after years you get a mocking answer "this intersection is a STRATEGIC intersection" (yes, be careful: "STRATEGIC"!), and "there are push buttons, you just have to press them"... However, these push buttons are what we call PLACEBO BUTTONS: they are there to make pedestrians believe that they have control, but they are deliberately disconnected (we're making fun of the world). The most naive believe it when, by chance, the green light turns on within seconds. The futile complaints also apply to the absurd one-way streets and a thousand details of daily life. Aside from that, only Saturday mornings are pleasant, thanks to the market... but only until 1 p.m., after which the atmosphere changes radically: the historic city center is deserted, and "to compensate," the ZUP (local urban development zone) pours in, parades, and makes a racket (the drug dealers are rich and have big cars). After six years, I finally moved and left this small, decaying town, where (between the ages of 64 and 70) I had endured 95% of the nighttime and daytime noise of my entire life.
