September 2025, My wife and I experienced our first Michelin Star Restaurant. We only stumbled across this amazing restaurant whilst walking the streets of Giverny after seeing Monet’s Garden earlier that day. We were lucky as we didn’t book and just walked in. This restaurant has set such a high standard to our holiday I feel know one will beat. The sommelier really knew her drinks and I had the best Syrah I’ve had in years. Their food (the chef easily accommodated my wife’s allergy) and service was just amazing and we will definitely return when we are in the area next. However I will book to ensure a seat as I’m sure they are usually fully booked!
Le Jardin des Plumes is an ambitious tasting menu restaurant in a calm location half a mile from the Monet house in Giverny. Service by a young staff was lovely, and the food was very good. At the beginning of the meal we said that we'd need a taxi to get to the train station, but when we finished there had been a mistake and no taxi was available. Here is the memorable thing: a young woman on staff said "I have a car, I'll take you," and she did. This was truly extraordinary, and we will never forget her kindness (though in the crisis of the moment I forgot to get her name, which I regret.)
The rooms, food and staff were all really excellent. In the evening we had the tasting menu at the restaurant on-site, which was delicious and beautifully presented. And we opted for breakfast which was delivered to the room. We weren’t sure what to expect with the breakfast, but it was fabulous and we ate it on the little patio set.

Dining at Le Jardin des Plumes was an absolute highlight of our trip. Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The tasting menu flowed perfectly, with each dish thoughtfully balanced and paired with incredible local ingredients. It’s the kind of place where every detail, from the bread to the final bite of dessert, is done with care. A truly memorable experience! We’d return to Giverny just to eat here again!
Stupendous! A wonderful experience, it was one of the 2 best meals of my life. Artfully and beautifully presented, each course was exciting and delicious. Wonderful flavors, textures and surprising combinations made it a meal to savor.
We stayed at the O Plume Art, which is a bit outside the village limits, but easy 15 minute walk into the village and Monet's Gardens. It is quiet and sweet. The house has 5 rooms and we had a small sweet overlooking the back garden. The room was clean and easily accessible. Breakfast is served daily and is fresh and perfect. Loved our stay here and in Giverny.

Following the tour of the Monet gardens it was time for lunch. I enjoyed the vegetable quiche with salad. Their drink of the day was orange juice lemonade, with or without alcohol. If you wanted alcohol, they gave you a choice. Very refreshing and lunch was great! We loved our waitress, Eugenie.

This restaurant is located at the entrance of the Monet's garden so it's a place full of tourists.
Most of the people there, including us, had less than an hour to grab a quick bite, so the quality of the visit can be spotty and hurried.
We had a good experience there on our visit. The ham omelet was good, the accompanied green was fresh. The Monet's salad was full of seafood on top of a fresh heap of green. The basket of fries was hot and tasty.
This was not haut cuisine, but for everyday food, this place did a decent job. They forgot to give us butter for our bread, but we enjoyed it anyway.
It is a tad pricey for what it offers. But this is where tourists are more willing to pay a bit more, as they have limited options.
We stopped here for lunch during our visit to Giverny and were pleasantly surprised by this charming French café-restaurant serving simple yet delicious fare. We ordered the chicken with tartar sauce, chicken nuggets with fries, and a Lorraine quiche accompanied by a side of fresh greens. Every dish was freshly prepared, served promptly, and arrived warm and flavorful. The restaurant offers a variety of seating options—indoor, outdoor, and shaded patio—with plenty of tables available. It’s a convenient and inviting stop, perfectly located for a meal before or after visiting the Monet mansion.
Filet mignon is made with cheap pork, extremely dry and barely warm when served. 28.5€ for that nonsense is not only a rip-off but a crime.
The vegetable quiche is acceptable, but not good. You can find better quality at Walmart.

Waitresses aren't friendly and may ignore you.
Save your time, money, and energy. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

One of the best place to have lunch after visiting Monet's house; you are siting next to the garden feeling relax and well take care.
Our waitress spoke English, she was very nice and pleasant to talk.

We have to say this meal is the most terrible meal for us. The lamb was very dry and seemed like they’d cooked it two days ago. The soup tasted like they forgot put salt in it. The worst part was hot chocolate. I never thought it was so difficult to make a normal hot chocolate!! I really regretted that I should’ve checked the comments before I went inside.

This quaint hotel and restaurant served as a meeting place for French and American Impressionist painters during the Belle Epoque. The restaurant offers delicious French cuisine, with its signature dish being the 'omelette Baudy' filled with duck gizzard and potatoes.
Quintessentially French cafe restaurant with an incredible history catering for the impressionist painters surrounding Monet. Great plates and a good value set menu (which I had). Tasty rustic chicken liver pate and lovely roasted salmon fillet with truffle mash. Good desserts - mine a strawberry cup with basil infused syrup and ice cream, the wife having profiteroles. A popular restaurant in the village of Giverny just away from the house & gardens.

Me and my friend picked this restaurant because it seemed like the best option near Claude Monet's house and garden to have a filling meal. We found the food to be subpar and not worth the price. Yes, we expected the restaurant to be overpriced because of its location, but we also expected the food to be better than what we got (flavor wise). Expect to pay around 30 eur for a drink and main dish.

This little place is charming... We stopped to rest and have a coffee in the afternoon. We sat outside just opposite the restaurant. This area was lovely with turquoise chairs, green trees all around and red umbrellas. The shade was really helpful on a warm day. We didn't eat but the dishes going past looked and smelled delicious.
And here's a secret... Go out back and see the garden. A treasure of a place. Rambling paths going up the hill. A little cabin that is set up as an antique art studio. As an artist, I was completely smitten. It's a magical place.
Went to this restaurant after visiting Claude Monet’s house. They have many things on the menu to choose from. It’s a popular place but it’s walk in only at lunch time. There was no wait at 1 pm. The service was efficient. The my salad very tasty.

Located in Giverny, in an old historic hotel, Hotel Baudy, which is apparently is because several American painters, and other famous French painters hung out there. The structure and character of the old building is still there. Little was changed as the kitchen is in a separate wing and the washrooms are across a gravel courtyard out back in an outbuilding.
Across the street is a quaint, gravel courtyard under trees surrounded by hedges with small café tables. We ate there.
The staff was very present, attentive, helpful and friendly and funny photo bombing us, cracking jokes and offering to take our pictures.
The Grilled King Prawns in Garlic Butter were just that - six very large King prawns in shell pan seared in a parsley, garlic butter with a little pepper blend with extra butter sauce for dipping. A large serving of tender crisp haricot verts was on the side with mashed potatoes full of more garlic butter (no vampires anywhere!) and two succulent roasted yellow tomatoes. A very pleasing, tasty meal!
Omelette Baudy was a large three egg omelette filled with duck confit and sauteed baby potatoes. Accompanied by a salad lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers) dressed in a house-made balsamic vinaigrette. Omelette and salad both very good!
A delightful meal and experience.

Sadly we arrived 3.35 p.m. so there was not even French fries to eat as a snack after all day walking around. The restroom were extremely dirty. To the point you could go. The ambiente is so adorable, but sadly nothing more. It could be an amazing experience, but was a total disaster
Stopped here in October in our way, of course, to the gardens. Really beautiful and relaxing place with great food. I just loved the relaxing vibe here.
I came for afternoon tea.
The tea tastes good. Apricot tarte tastes fine, but I beg to differ for the choux a la creme cause that's one of the best I've ever had. But the service is really slow, and the counter for patisserie doesn't have a cashier, so it's a hassle to make the payment.
The garden is good to spend some time during in nice weather.
They also have a souvenir shop. I bought the cider. There's one cider that is labeled as "medaille d'or" and the regular one with 3 euros difference on price. I asked the seller what's the difference between those two taste-wise, but she couldn't even explain. My friends agreed that the taste difference for both bottles is hardly noticeable and most likely the same tho there's 3 euros difference on price.
Perhaps I was lucky, but this worked really well for me. Food was fine, beer was excellent and people were nice. Surroundings were very enjoyable. I'm glad we stopped here for lunch
It was a quick bite to eat. Says table service but you ordered at the bar and then picked up your food. We ate in the bamboo forest and it was wonderful. The food was good.
i don’t understand why this place has such bad reviews. the food was very good and was plated nicely. we got club sandwiches, fish and chips, roasted eggplant, and deviled eggs. everything was very good. the staff was very friendly. also the shop connected to it has a really cute cat that was sleeping when we were there! very good overall in my opinion!

Giverny was lovely in its late summer bloom and gave us the experience we were hoping for! We had previously researched a casual dining spot for lunch and decided on Au Coin du Paint’re with its high reviews in the heart of the village of Giverny. The front outside dining area was rustic and charming, but we decided to eat inside as I was a bit chilled. The restaurant does not take reservations; when we arrived early, we had our choice of seating. During our lunch, the outside garden area filled quickly with other diners. Our burger, Croque Monsieur, beer and wine choices were delicious and exactly what we wanted! The other diners’ foods looked delicious too. A perfect way to close out our day in Giverny before returning on the shuttle to the Vernon train station.

The service is mediocre; the waiter forgot the order a couple of times, and nobody seems really interested in the tourist masses.
The food is mediocre for a French lunch. A big piece of bread with almost no camembert, and very soggy fries. And touristic prices €€€€€
A really nice place. The bread was super soft! But I didn't really like the apple pie. But everything else was great.
The €10 breakfast is very good. A large croissant/pain au chocolate, a hot drink and a panneau of bread.

A beautiful location. Food was delicious. Not a million options…. A fish, vegetarian option and meat. But the fish was perfectly cooked. Appetizers of fresh eggs with homemade mayonnaise and roasted tomatoes with soft cheese drizzled with balsamic were so flavorful and satisfying. If you love flavorful, well prepared food, you will love it here.

I stopped by this restaurant before going to Monet garden. The atmosphere was great, the service was nice and friendly, and the food was exquisite ! I really want to come back here again.

This place was adorable and right outside the busy center of town so maybe not as crowded as places in the center of town. I didn’t get any pics, but the view was of a grassy field and I can envision being in the Renior painting, Luncheon of the Boating Party (but without the water)!
I got the gazpacho and salmon tartar. My guests got steak frites. They ordered it medium but I think the chef only serves it medium rare, so be prepared! Everything was good.

Definitely a relaxing environment to enjoy while sitting and observing the water bank of the Seine river. A very convenient place to go after visiting the Giverny village where art galleries and famous house of Claude Monet is just across the street.

The restaurant is located in a pleasant area with a welcoming atmosphere. However, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. The beef was significantly overcooked—served well-done and unfortunately too tough to enjoy. Additionally, the accompanying fries appeared to be of low quality, possibly over-fried or reheated multiple times, resulting in a dry and unappealing texture. Overall I do not recommend this restaurant.
Very nice terrace and overall atmosphere. Placement is also a little aside from the crowds at the museum. Food I was expecting to be top notch but was somehow good. The best from what we were served was the burata with peach sauce which was delicious. Aubergine parmigiana was good but could be better.
We got lunch after visiting Monets house. You would think since it is so close by that it would be a tourist trap and not great, but we really enjoyed it. For €50 we got onion soup (my favorite French Onion Soup from our entire time in France), stew, cheese, and beer. It was a lovely day outside on their patio. They did get busy, and I saw some people waiting to be seated when the staff got busy, but I thought the service overall was reasonable for the crowd.
We ordered two simple coffees at the counter because we had to continue our journey after visiting the house. In addition to a complete lack of empathy, we were also charged for two cover charges, even though we never sat down, as we had clearly asked to have them at the counter. In the end, we paid €5.40 for two basic coffees at the bar. When I jokingly said, “Oh, even the cover charges,” the girl just smiled without even reconsidering. Unfortunately, this kind of attitude towards tourists is counterproductive — both for them and for all the people who work hard and with dedication to keep the painter’s legacy alive.

This was a lovely restaurant to eat at after a trip to Monet’s Garden. There were many great options for everyone. After a hot day this was a great place to refuel for the rest of the day! The staff were helpful to order the dishes that were seen at other tables. They were on top of service, would recommend to anyone who needs sustainable in Giverny!

I'm really shocked by the bad reviews - the food was delicious! This restaurant was so lovely and delicious, the host was very friendly and accommodating, and the patio and gardens were really delightful. It was a beautiful serine atmosphere and perfect for a leisurely dinner in the heart of the town of Giverny. The service was really excellent (SO much better than the restaurant across the street - La Parenthèse - where the service was just terrible). All the food at this restaurant was delicious and the kids menu (grilled chicken or fish croquet with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies) was very yummy - the kids ate nearly everything.
We had a lovely evening and meal but, in retrospect, we probably shouldn't have gone to this upscale restaurant with our kids. French children seem to be (universally) impeccably well-behaved - they could eat at any restaurant no matter how quiet or how fancy and have no problems. French kids sit still for hours, quietly, politely and eat everything and anything they are offered without complaint and that’s just what is expected of children at meal times in France. In Canada, if you went to a restaurant in the summer with a patio surrounded by gardens, it would not at all be uncommon for a bunch of kids to be running around in the surrounding fields and gardens playing games and laughing and having fun while parents enjoyed a leisurely meal. Kids doing anything but sitting quietly at meal times highly inappropriate in France – so needless to say we felt quite embarrassed. The staff brought our kids a few garden games to play with while they were in the field so that was very thoughtful and kind.
We'd definitely recommend this restaurant and would eat there again but would probably not recommending going with young kids (unless of course yours are super wonderfully-behaved like French kids are!)

This isn't just a place to stay—it's an escape. Nestled just a few blocks from Monet's famous gardens, it offers a refined experience with delicious meals and breathtaking grounds. It's a tranquil retreat where time seems to slow down, perfect for unwinding. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating.

We had a mixed experience at La Musardiere. The room was excellent, the location perfect and the food very good indeed. The service was in part dreadful. The woman who checked us in and the man who brought us drinks before dinner were great - all smiles and warmth. However, the main server at dinner and the person who served us breakfast clearly didn't want to be there and gave us the very strong impression they didn't want us to be there either. You know you're going to be in for a long night when the waitress brings you completely the wrong bottle of wine - different producer, appellation, vintage and even appearance - after persuading you to choose it! - and when that is pointed out, changes it without apology or explanation, a smile or indeed a word. Such a shame because the food and the setting were so good, but when you feel unwelcome, it affects the whole experience.
The room was very nice. We ate both nights in the restaurant - the food was outstanding - the best meals we had on our entire trip in France!

The room was very nice, comfortable, and quiet. The cost was very reasonable, and the breakfast they offered was quite lovely! And, their customer service was excellent, too. Next time I'm in Paris, I plan to stay with them again.

Tried the chef’s tasting menu. The appetizer was a bowl of cold mushrooms. The two mains were both 3 bites, and the second appeared to literally be deli sliced turkey. Dessert was good but overall the experience was very unsatisfying and definitely not worth the money. Staff were great but there are better and/or cheaper options in Giverny.

Took the in-laws here while showing them Giverny and Monet’s gardens. Was a hot, but wonderful lunch in the outdoor dining area. Open with beautiful flowers around, tranquil, and the food was proper. Had a filet myself and we shared a bottle of white. If you’re looking for a bite to eat while exploring, you won’t be disappointed.

The only good thing about this cafe is the place where it is at Giverny. Being the only cafe restaurant near the car parking and at the entry place of Giverny, the home of Claude Monet, it's taking advantage of walk in tourists everyday. The servers are almost rude. Popped by for lunch after our visit to the Monet Gardens and Home. It was very lovely sitting in the terrace by the garden on a sunny spring day with birds chirping in the background! The servers were all polite and attentive to us. We are Asians so ignore the reviews that say they are racist - they are not. Possibly those who had a bad experience were rude to begin with. We had a lovely time eating our food and even got dessert. We recommend this place to anyone who’s in the area looking for a bite!
We sat in the shade here after visiting the Monet garden. The waitress was really on point and had a fun sass about her - a real asset to the restaurant. We had a wonderful experience at Oscar’s. The staff were helpful, kind, and friendly. The food was great, we were a party of 3. We got the 3 course meal and cocktails. Beef bourgeon , deviled eggs, tomato salad, pasta with mushrooms and spinach. Chocolate pie, lemon pie and a French specialty , praline cream puff thing. So good! The cocktails were outstanding. They helped us with our wine selection as well. We did not have a wait, as we had a reservation. Best meal and service.

The food was very good but could be better and better presented for their price. The staff always in a rush makes you feel a bit anxious and bad. They broke glasses, etc around us. The tomato salad was wonderful as it was the season. The fish crudo and deviled eggs were also nicely done. We had the duck (fantastic), the lamb(excellent) and the sardines (delicious). You pick the protein and which sauce you want and either fries or salad. We shared the fog tart and chocolate mousse (so French and chocolatey). Defiantly would come here again and again.

The meat was good so with that they got my heart, also the price was fair as you pay the same for really bad meat in most restaurants that are in way less lovely environments. The atmosphere is perfect, the view, the dishes a 10. The bread and the cheese were also very good. We stopped here because we liked the menu more then Les Nympheas down the street and it seemed more reasonably priced. We sat on the outdoor terrace which was lovely because it was beautiful weather. (Inside was less cozy).
The food was excellent. However, it did take a while to arrive and we were anxiously waiting for it as we had a deadline and needed to leave at a certain time.
So that did take away some of the joy. You know what they say in France, the longer you wait for it, the better it tastes. I think you need to allow for at least 1.5-2 hours based on the wait time.
Highly recommend the carpaccio, it was my first time trying it and really enjoyed it here.
Staff is super lazy, it takes forever for having a lunch here, but when you will finally recieve your dishes you will be super disappointed because it’s awful!!! Onion soup tastes like it was done by two years old baby from burned plastic with cheese that has no taste at all. I highly not recommend this place to eat.

I suppose the menu changes periodically, but as of our visit (October 2023) this is _NOT_ a “tourist trap”; the cuisine, atmosphere, service all “digne” of an excellent French restaurant with reasonable prices. We arrived around 2:30 PM — a bit late for lunch — but they were happy to seat us. Offered the choice, we sat on their beautiful and spacious patio. My girlfriend had a Moules-frites with a 1664. It had been quite some time since I had indulged in an Escalope de veau à la Normande, which of course implored red wine. It was all very delicious.
Me and my wife decided to have lunch in this restaurant because we liked the view of the grounds. We are glad we did so. In addition to beautiful garden outside, this place looks good inside.
The food was excellent as well. I had onion soup and seafood salad, and my wife ordered duck. Everything tasted great and the presentation of the dishes was good also. The server was very friendly.

We had lunch at the charming restaurant and was pleasantly surprise with how good the food was and their prices were very reasonable. 2 burgers, mussels with fries, starter plate of prosciutto and cheese, glass of wine and 2 lemon sodas totaling 76euro is not bad! We happened upon this little restaurant because everything on Rue Claude Monet is SO EXPENSIVE! The shop is quaint, cute, and the food was amazing! The gentleman at the counter helped translate for us and shared stories about his time he's spent in the USA. When I visited Giverny five years ago, I had a much better experience at a café just a minute away from this one. I hope the staff are trained better in the future.
