Great place. A lot of things happen here throughout the day. From small bands playing, to big concerts. There are many gift shops, antique shops, cafes around. Definitely worth a visit. I'm not sure if this happens often but on the days I was at this place there was a music festival going on and I had the chance to attend the concerts for free, they were kind of a public event I believe, I didn't see anyone buying tickets anywhere, it was super fun, the concerts only happened at night. In the morning the place is tidied and less crowded.

A great variety of fish and seafood in a historical setting and absolutely shockingly unhygienic conditions. The fish on sale may be fresh but the stench and filth are so overpowering, as if no one had cleaned the place since the 16th century.

The fishermen work here is no joke. I live at the seaside right in front of a market but i wish i could get my fish and seafood in a place like this every week : variety, quality and freshness, at such a bargain it's unbelievable. Sad note : they say it's been a few years they are not able to get everything as before. Some years there's a bit less of this or that. They say 'the planet is getting hurt too much'.

A local gave us an impromtu tour of the harbour and took us into a boatyard where the fishing boats were being built. A really enjoyable hour spent looking at the harbour activities in the glorious sunshine.

The fish markets of Essaouria are amazingly busy places. Very slippery and smelly but a fantastic insight into the local industry and how it supports tourism. Lots to see

Traditional fish market with lots of fresh selection. We wanted to buy our own fish and get a local to cook them. Lots of locals offer this service, but be careful for what you sign up for. Make sure to get the sellers to explain everything including prices. They’re happy to explain. Plate of food for four cost 900 dirhams.

Avoid this place. Visiting a fish market should be a pleasant experience, but here tourists are clearly overcharged. You can get the same quality for a much better price at nearby restaurants. We asked for a small portion of shrimp and calamari, and the staff member told us we would be shown the portion before it was fried and sautéed. That never happened. Instead, we were served a large portion followed by a large bill. Poor communication and misleading service. Not recommended.

Tourist trap if you choose to have the fish cooked on site. We did this and ended up paying twice as much as in the port area where you will get the same experience, but in a much more pleasant setting.

TOURIST SCAM! DO NOT EAT HERE. Unless you are a local I would reccomend that no tourist eat here! They have you choose your fish and sit down then they give you the price. The original price for 1 small dorado fish , 1 small squid and some shrimp was almost 400 dh!! Once we told them to take out some sides and the shrimp we still paid 220dh for a very mediocre meal. I have had better fish for much cheaper. We were told by a local we were scammed and should have only paid 50dh in total. Very sad experience as we were very excited to go

Decide on a purchase with the vendors and make the exchange with them if you intend to take some fish to a restaurant and have them cook it. Beware the touts. You will almost certainly be approached by touts looking to help you with the fish and grill it for you. They WILL take a big premium for this. I recommend that you do not engage with them. MAKE THE PURCHASE YOURSELF WITH THE FISHMONGER AND TAKE IT TO A RESTAURANT OF YOUR CHOOSING FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE.

Lovely historical walls. Easy to walk around and not ticketed, just open to all public. Lovely little stalls nearby too. It was quite busy at midday on a weekday, so if you want to avoid the crowds I’d say go early morning.

The oysters were and white wine weren’t not well chilled, the vegetables that were served with the fish are definitely cooked for couscous which was a bummer the fish was well cooked but the veggies ruined it. The service was average but that’s not the staff’s fault, they’re obviously overworked, I would say the place is under staffed, the only thing I didn’t like was that they said they can’t change my beer to Casablanca because of some system, that’s a lousy excuse. I would come back. Nice place with a lot of potentials, should focus on service. The band was good. Toilet was bit dirty.

A good place to come for drinks just before Sunset, well located and spacious. If you come early enough you'll probably manage to get a good seat to chill and enjoy the view. Only 5 classic cocktails on the menu but a good choice of beers, wines and stronger beverages. We didn't get a chance to ear the live music but the guys were definitely getting ready for dinner time. At night it's a different ambience. You can ear the music blasting all around town until 2am during the week. Teenagers and young locals partying hard, half of them barely standing. Don't come if you expect the customers to be well behaved, it's like a student party in there, fun until you reach 25 y.o. Staff is very patient with drunks making a scene (pushing around, yelling, going shirtless..) 4 guys, one hour plus another half at the exit to deal with one who wouldn't cut it out. Just physically controlling him and asking him to leave. That's it. I've seen security guys smash some faces in about 5m for less than that...

Amazing vibes at Taros! Taros experience started with sunset on the roof top with great service! Continued with dinner at Cosmo with delicious food and amazing service from Karim, Khadija and warm welcomes from the best hostess Dorine. Follow up with cocktails at the club where Sana makes the best cocktails in Essaouira! And to finish going back upstairs to dance to the groovy songs from the dj! All over great atmosphere! We had the worst dining experience ever at this restaurant. The service was nothing short of terrible; the manager was extremely rude and dismissive throughout our visit. The fish we ordered was undercooked and apparentely served despite being raw in parts, which was very disappointing. It’s okay for a drink here, but definitely not for food. To make matters worse, they still charged us for the undercooked dish, which is unacceptable. Also, beware of the giant cockroaches crawling around the place — quite a disturbing sight. One more thing to watch out for is the manager with the fancy mustache; avoid any interaction with him if you don’t want to encounter more issues. Would not recommend this place for dinner at all!

We came for a quick drink and had such a nice time! The hostess was super sweet, the staff was super attentive and they even had a restaurant doggo that was adorable! We loved the live music and the lively atmosphere! We’ll definitely be back and maybe try the food as well.

Taro’s delivers a solid overall experience, mainly thanks to outstanding service. Our waiter Badar Eddine was a true standout — always smiling, proactive, and perfectly tuned in to what we needed. He recommended a great wine that elevated the whole evening. The food itself is fairly standard, very much tailored to tourists, but the quality of the service genuinely lifts the entire experience. This waiter makes the visit worth it.

The view was stunning, and I really appreciated the charm of the walls and the overall atmosphere. However, there’s still room for improvement—especially when it comes to enhancing the experience for tourists.

It's otherworldly and unspoilt, and feels like standing on a film set. In fact, the film The Lonely Planet with Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth was filmed here and, most famously, Game of Thtones. There is a strong breeze coming off the sea but it's refreshing in the heat. Research the history of Essaouira and you will find that you are standing on land with a rich and exciting history. Now a UNESCO heritage sight, it is really worth a visit.

We got a tip from the manager at the hotel where we stayed in Marrakesh to buy fresh fish here at the harbor in Essaouira and have it grilled on the spot so you can eat it right away. We did that, and it was super tasty. Not a fancy, luxurious setting, but it was amazing to watch the fresh fish being grilled right there and then enjoy it with a small salad on the side. I had a wonderful experience at this beachfront restaurant. The location is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the sea and a lovely island just across the horizon — the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. We only stopped as had seen great reviews. It’s not a beach club but a gorgeous restaurant. We only had drinks and most tables were booked up for food that looked amazing. Worth booking in advance.

I didn’t like this place at all. The service was very slow, and the staff were not friendly. The food came cold and didn’t taste good. It’s also too expensive for what you get. The restaurant looks nice, but the quality is really bad. I would not go back or recommend Ocean Vagabond to anyone.

I rarely share stuff I experienced. But this bar is exceptional. It is a place of love. A place where a patient waiter led an elderly guest to the toilet and tidied her hair like a loving grandchild. Where dads kiss their children and mums pop baloons, and surfers enjoy the end of a day, and nervous couples new together cuddle uneasingly but promisingly. Where even the cat exudes love. Staff play football in the bar between shifts. Amazing staff, great food, great music, astonishing location. Come here to be cured of cynicism.

A must go to for an Essaouira visit. Best sunset spot. Drinks are reasonably priced and pizza is a super delicious flat crust style. Definitely recommend the Kefta one. It seems this place is highly rated but one cake I got was very dry and just a simple plain sponge and the other was better and had cream inside but nothing to write home about so either I picked the two worst cakes here or it really isn’t that good.

I do understand all the vibe about this place. It opens early, it offers plenty of cakes and pastries and their breakfast menus are amazing! If you like croissants, pain au chocolat it’s perfect for you but if you want to change take the bread (Moroccan) butter and jam breakfast menu! Their semi-hidden terrace in the back is incredible.

Absolutely loved this place! The food was so nice, got the lamb tagine which is the traditional Moroccan flavour quickly becoming my favourite dish. Atmosphere was fantastic -great live music and nice rooftop setting. Malak was our server and she was lovely, and also loads of the staff interacted and were chatty and friendly. We were a bit confused at first whether there was a table as reception weren’t that clear, but so glad we went up as we had the best evening. Would highly recommend this place

The Head of Guest Relations is a young woman named Mina During my stay I had some health issues. Mina personally took me to a medical facility where I was treated in a most professional manner. Mina would not leave me alone for a minute and helped take care of every last detail. She is clearly someone who loves her job and is excellent at what she does. She is a credit to the hotel and is also a wonderful representative of her country. I cannot praise her enough! In addition, she runs a fabulous boutique hotel, with a quirky interior design, terrific rooftop terrace with a remarkable seafood restaurant. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

He would check on us periodically and make sure we had the best experience, which we did, thanks to him. I can say all the above about his hospitality as well. Truly the best of the best. Chef imad is true Top tier excellence And Mina — she is the heart of this place. She has a sixth sense for hospitality. Before we could even ask, she anticipated our needs. Her kindness, her grace, her ability to make every moment feel special… she’s the definition of world-class service. The rooftop views, the music, the atmosphere — all incredible. But what made this stay unforgettable were the people. We travel constantly. We’ve stayed in luxury hotels around the world. The sunset view is absolutely stunning and the live band added a great vibe. The décor is unique and the staff were friendly, but the service was very slow and the food disappointing. My crab starter was full of shell, the calamari / prawns and the burger were just okay. Beautiful setting, but the experience didn’t match the view.

Stunning design, location and rooftop but less comfort, quality & value for money than others here Liked · The location is amazing right in the heart of the medina and next to the ramparts adjacent to the ocean. The roof top terrace was stunning, the service was always very good and friendly and the breakfast was very delicious. The hammam at the hotel was a nice, authentic experience and recommended. The riad style building and room design is beautiful and very Instagramable! Our host/guest relations Mina was wonderful. Super friendly and kind, super attentive, helpful and efficient and helped us with everything we needed - there was nothing that was too much trouble! Disliked · We had the family room which was stunning but it isn't 49m2 as described on Booking.com but more like 30m2. It wasn't the most comfortable or convenient/practical family room we had in Essaouira but appreciate that style probably trumps comfort is this type of design-led conversion! We had a disappointing meal in the rooftop restaurant sending all the hot dishes back as it was cold and undercooked (as did the table sitting next to us) to be re-heated/cooked so that rather spoiled the otherwise nice evening of dramatic sunset and great live music! It was very busy and felt like the kitchen was perhaps overwhelmed or struggling to cope to produce everything to standard. Felt that quality was sacrificed for view / style!

I truly would not recommend this place, especially for Moroccans. From the moment I walked in with a friend, the experience was insulting. I hadn’t even made it to the restaurant area or had the chance to ask for anything, and the staff immediately said: “we don’t have hot drinks.” It didn’t feel like information it felt like they were saying: “we don’t want you here.” When we tried to sit down, we were told we couldn’t have a table with a view unless we ordered food. I agreed, but then watched tourists being seated in the best spots with only drinks and no questions asked. That double standard was impossible to ignore. The food and drinks were shockingly bad for the prices they charge tasteless, low quality, and honestly a waste of money. Even dessert, which should be simple, was disappointing. The view was the only nice thing, but how can you enjoy it when the whole experience is overshadowed by rude, dismissive, and discriminatory service? I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and like my time and money had been thrown away. Essaouira has so many other spots with beautiful views, a welcoming atmosphere, and food that actually matches the prices. Salut Maroc is the opposite overpriced, unwelcoming, and not worth it.

I went to Real Mogador without knowing what I’d find, and I was really pleased with what I discovered. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful architecture of this old riad and its colors. You can clearly see the love and dedication the owner put into its restoration and decoration. The art gallery features a vast repertoire of paintings by local artists, and if someone as profane in art as I am was able to appreciate it, that says a lot. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who comes in Essaouira!

A delightful visit - beautiful setting for a gallery in a Riad and lots of pieces from local artists to view. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. Free entry and 50DH if you wanted to take photos, which was reasonable to support the work of the gallery. Worth a visit!

The Real Mogador is an exceptional gallery. The exhibit space that was designed by the gallery owner is elegant, airy and spacious. While there we saw excellent work by a group of young local artists. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Not to be missed while in Essaouira.

"I had the opportunity to visit many art galleries in Morocco, from the Rabat Museum to those in the alleyways of Marrakech. However, in this particular gallery, it was the first time I felt intimidated by some paintings, especially 'The Demons of Said' and the pointillism exhibition. In my opinion, it is the best art gallery I have ever visited. I highly recommend it and challenge you to understand the meanings of the artworks without looking at the titles. You won't be disappointed."

A place for artists to be exposed and understood. François has an amazing eye for discovering new artists and is loyal to his old ones too... A lovely welcoming vibe to the riad which has remained authentic. A great place to visit and to enjoy. I will be back every time.😄❤️

Hands down the best art gallery in the area. There's no better place if you want to admire and buy local artists. François was really helpful and knowledgeable, he truly knows and loves the history of the place. A must-stop during your stay in Essaouira!

A well of calm and art in the bustle of Essaouira. There are a number of gallery spaces and different artists occupying them. The curator is knowledge and happy to share his knowledge of the artists and their techniques. He has also made the gallery (also his home) into a work of art in its own right. There is a nominal charge for photography (paid) though entry is free.

Beautiful gallery with tons of interesting artworks. Nice patio too. We ended up buying a painting by Essaouiran artist Erraad. Very friendly and professional service from Zak. He helped us pack the painting efficiently for our return flight. Even if you have no intention to buy anything, go visit! A wonderful commercial gallery exhibiting local artists and some who fell in love with the country and were inspired by it. It’s free to visit and is located in a beautiful piece of architecture, with a patio and also a terrace with the city’s view. The artworks are truly worth to be seen. I didn’t buy anything because I didn’t have enough time to explore all of them but will definitely go back. Zaccaria welcomed us and explained many things which enhanced our visit. Thank you!

Amazing and quiet place in the middle of Essaouira showing art from local artists. The people inside are very kind and let you browse the art by yourself but are there to help you if you have questions. Beautiful pieces from home decor to paintings to furniture, rugs and doors. Amazing! Prices differ per piece but it’s generally well priced.

Very well kept museum about the history of the Jewish community in the area. A beautiful building filled with lots of photos, information and some videos. On the second floor there's also a library and wifi is available. The door is closed so you have to wait for the security guard to let you in/out. The informational signs don't include English translations but I just used the photo feature of Google translator.

Bayt Dakira or the House of Memory is a Jewish museum from the 18th century located in the Jewish quarter "Mellah" of Essaouira's old medina in Morocco. I had such a pleasure on my visit, and felt very lucky to have been guided through the center by a very knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly guide. He was a huge part of what made the whole experience so enjoyable and meaningful. This place in itself is very powerful, and they pay respect to a rich history of Essaouira's Jewry. Bravo! 🙏🏽

Please allow not to review the Essaouira Supratours office itself (though my experience was pleasant enough). No, I want to draw your attention to this inconspicuous street vendor right outside the the office (which does not have a cafe or snack machine). The best (and by far cheapest!) coffee in Essouaria I got from this gentleman who sits there all day long and serves all bus departures. I admit I am certainly a coffee nerd and was a bit worried how on earth I would survive the bus ride to Marrakech without a good cup of the dark brew. (The bus makes a comfort stop at a bar/restaurant after about an hour and I had another cup there, however that coffee was best forgotten instantly.) But this expresso-like coffee, hot and dark and strong, was utterly delightful and bigger than a double espresso. So if you like espressos: here sits your barista and waits for you. Highly recommended. شكرا جزيلا لك، وبارك الله فيك وفي عائلتك. So thank you very much, and may God bless you and your family.

Don't even try to buy tickets from this company we paid520 Mad but its was only 320 they said you will arrive airport what if ı lost my plane. Local Company is much cheaper and trustable br carefull with the women on the desk they are behaving unrespectively she took extra money and we paid for luggages then she wanted extra extra.

Supratour is a great option to travel between Marrakech and Essaouira but if possible buy your ticket a day or two ahead of your travel day because some bus time slot book up early

Good if it works, terrible when something doesn’t. Unfortunately the customer service is not helpful at all. The booking website malfunctioned - so I paid but never received a ticket. After contacting customer service, I received a follow up question for more details (which already were included in the original request). Then I contacted them again, and again, and again - but never got a response fixing the problem. In the end, I had to pay for a ticket at the bus station because I never received a ticket - only a payment confirmation. To offer customer service and then not respond for 4 days, ignoring 4 separate requests is very bad service.

Can buy any Supratours bus or train ticket here. There was no waiting (at 3pm). I did need to use my phone to find the train I wanted tickets for. The young man behind the counter was having trouble finding it. It took a while, but I ended up with the correct ticket. Heads up: they only accept cash.

A locals eatery, mad busy when we arrived, great atmosphere and good food. We had omelette de tomatoes, served in the pan its cooked in, not like an English omelette but very tasty with nice fresh bread and olives. The orange juice was delicious. Recommended.

Great local food price and quality wise. Left some to be desired regarding cleanliness but it is what is expected for that price point. We spent 90dh for 2 people.

Lovely authentic family owned cafe. The owner is really polite and speaks fluent English (plus a handful of other languages too!). They do breakfast options all served with fresh Morocco bread. And in the afternoon/evening they have dinner options such as Tajine, freshly cooked. Mint tea too of course! Always a pleasant atmosphere and the most popular with the local people by far. Ate here twice a day for a whole week :)

We went here almost every day on our trip to Essaouira. The staff is friendly and service is quick compared to other restaurants in the area. Very good food for very low prices The tea is a must-try! The place is always packed with locals, which is a testament to the quality of the restaurant! Our favorites on the menu are Bissara soup, omelette with tomatoes and batbout with honey. We didn't try the tajine because there are no vegetarian options, but we must say they looked delicious.

We were looking forward to come to this place, and it was difficult to find a parking space. Once we arrived ,all tables were full and many people were standing outside. I went inside and spoke to the waiter. He was rude and he said if you find an empty space you can sit down and walked away. The kitchen looked so dirty, I thought it was the bathrooms. We went next door to the Murex and had the moroccan breakfast and omlettes. And it was sooo good.

At low tide this immense stretch of sand is used for exercise and walking and provides a great place to take in the views of Essaouria from the Port to the dunes. Later there are camel rides, quads and many other activities including police patrols on horseback.

The beach felt overcrowded in every direction. It’s still interesting and you can surely find space but the overwhelming amount of horses and dromedary with their masters all around felt a bit too much. They are very competitive between each other to get clients and there was even quite an unpleasant and vivid fight between the “chameliers” while a young family was in their care, on the animals. April being the windy season, there were a lot of kite surfers and it added to the colorful look of the beach.

Amazing beach especially during the sunset time, you can ride, quads, camels and horses also learn to surf as there are many people who provide these services. Windy & nice beach. Very very busy in Aug. You can get cheap beds and use them all day long just be aware there are some charges for toilets. The showers on the beach were great however it seems only certain tourists were being charged to use - one to be aware of. Waves big, lots of fun.

Very wide beach with great views of crashing sea waves along the rocky beach. There are also sandy stretches for beach goers to enjoy a pleasant picnic or stroll along the beach. The castle is especially noted for the scene in Game of Thrones, so it is a popular tourist photo spot. Plenty of seagulls winging their way through the breezy wind. Locals and tourists can enjoy the seafood at stalls near the beach.

The best restaurant in Essaouira! The atmosphere is reminiscent of a posh French restaurant. The service is impeccable, and there's a great wine list to accompany the refined menu. We had a seasonal salad to start, fresh and full of flavour, followed by a top-quality John Dory fillet and a delicious millefeuille of vegetables. Don’t miss this restaurant when in town. Elegant and beautiful restaurant with great staff. Food is good without being memorable. Spider crab was the best item we ordered. The manager is very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has issues with their credit card machine so we had to walk to the hotel next door for payment.

It's quite a large restaurant ( though well designed so it didn't feel like it ) but seemed a bit understaffed so service was a bit slow .. they were more focused on several larger groups The credit card machine seems a perennial problem reading the reviews... It clearly doesn't work and didn't for us after a perfunctory effort to try it .. Given the price and quality otherwise they really should fix that. Also maybe the guy playing the same few guitar chords over and over again all night maybe could extend his repertoire a bit .. Overall it's a good place though, they're just minor articles .., You won't be disappointed (especially if you don't expect the credit card machine to work!)

Everything about this place was great. We walked in and the vibes were excellent. There was a man playing acoustic guitar & a dancer who performed intermittently throughout the meal. The decor was lovely, fine dining chic. The food was great, steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. The bill came to just over 1100dh between 3, which is on the pricier side for restaurants in Essaouira but more than worth it for La Table.

Excellent friendly service with great food in a really amazingly decorated venue! Different staff members dropped our table to chat and offered suggestions for things to do during our stay. Musicians played really good background music at a reasonable level to allow for normal conversations. Phenomenal value for a delicious meal with drinks. Very pleasant dining experience.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Essaouira both for the food, the wine, the service and the atmosphere, which is elegant-Moroccan and not touristy-Moroccan. What a pretty place, it has like 3 floors with different vibes, live music, great menu, also can order a vine or a beer. I was in the night time, but if you go there on sunset or in the day the view would be amazing, cause it’s right by the ocean.

Really enjoyed my experience here. They in the perfect location to enjoy the sunset (above the Ramparts and with a view of the rocks). But I owe everything to Wafaa for making my evening a success. She went above & beyond to correct a reservation mistake I caused. It was Saturday in October so the restaurant was full but she made it work. Also I highly recommend Geannot my server. He was patient, offered great advice re the menu, and was a pleasure to deal with. I had the sole with a side of fries and the food was very good. THANK YOU Wafaa!

I visited this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation, and I'm glad I did. Upon arrival, i was greeted with a complimentary olive and traditional bread service, which was a nice touch. The shrimp was fresh and delicious, and I also ordered a local beer, which complemented the meal perfectly. The view overlooking the ocean at sunset was absolutely breathtaking. The staff was attentive and professional, although the prices were a bit high. Nonetheless, the experience was truly unforgettable!

The sunset was spectacular. The local wine from the Essaouira area (Val d’Argan) was great, and at 540 dirham, it was a good value. The service was super friendly and attentive. They even brought white table cloths upon my request since the tables on the first-floor terrace weren't as nicely set as those on the second floor. The oysters were fresh and delicious. However, the main course, garlic shrimp and sea bream, was rather dry and disappointing for the price. Reservations are recommended!

Whole Sea bass was not good,no taste and not fresh. The view was incredible but service was just so so. The best dish was seafood spaghetti, highly recommend. Also it was the most expensive meal of my 2 weeks Morocco travel. Almost triple of other meal. Overpriced.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandala and I can honestly say it’s one of the best healthy restaurants I’ve visited in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt fresh, clean, and welcoming — a perfect reflection of the food they serve. The menu is packed with nutrient-rich, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and there’s a great balance between flavor and health. I ordered tofu salad- it was absolutely delicious and left me feeling satisfied, not stuffed. My partner had the fish burger, which was hearty and packed with flavour without being overwhelming. What really stood out was the attention to detail: fresh herbs, vibrant produce, and generous portions without excess. Even the drinks were impressive — the green juice and turmeric ginger shot gave a nice energy boost without being too sweet. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

Beautiful little cafe on the main street through the medina. This place opened earlier than a lot of other cafes so a good place to go for a vegan breakfast. I was disaplointed that they had sold out of most of their tea blends but the avocado toast was delicious.

What a beautiful place! The matcha is so good, the best i've ever had. The employees were so nice and the whole place has such a lovely atmosphere :) They have oat milk and almond milk alternatives for anyone who wants it as well, and they also serve food. Thanks for such a delicious coffee!

This synagogue was renovated in 2017, but during my visit in October 2018 it was closed. One of the 3 synagogues saved from old times of Jewish presence in this tolerant city of Essaouira.

One of 3 synagogues that survived from old times of Jewish present in city of Essaouira. House of synagogue (upper floor) was also a home of famous Rabbi Chaim Pinto - lower floors, his office. Synagogue is fully renovated, including wooden beam roof,painted blue. We got some explanation about the place and Jewish life, guard knows even a bit Hebrew, and when we finished our visit he offered us to open for us the old Jewish cemetery, which is not always open, so it was very convenient to see both main places of Jewish history of Essaouira

Last building followed by a huge demolition and recostruction site that is supposed to become the restored or rather newly built jewish quarter mellah. Informative caretaker who will show and explain everything to you. Other than the neighboring former „public“ synagoge this used to be a private synagogue mainly for the use of the family. Quiet and impressing place.

This city offers a historic city wall and the charming old town within the walls, so many soublvenir shopping places, restaurants and cafes. It is especially nice to walk around during the nighttime. The seaport offers a beautiful view of the ocean and the small village like houses.

I booked beginner’s surf lesson for myself and my son and the experience was great. The communication, the service, attention to details and accommodation to our needs were all perfect. We felt the staff was kind and the overall atmosphere at the school welcoming.

Our surf experience was absolutely amazing! The whole team is so friendly, supportive, and encouraging — you really feel welcomed from the moment you arrive. Our instructor, Houmadi, was fantastic — he explained everything clearly and taught us great techniques. I’ve surfed before in Portugal, but the teaching here was on another level. He was so attentive and even showed me a new technique for standing up on the board that made a huge difference. Couldn’t recommend this surf school more!

And thanks Karim for the great lessons! Super clear and glad I am able to go on my own now a bit with the kite after the 12 hours! We loved the kite lessons of Youssef so much! The vibe, the tips, the equipment, everything was perfectly arranged! Due to the falling wind conditions, we were fairly handled.The organisation was TOP TOP TOP, we really recommended to go & have some nice sessions! ENJOY!

The spa was a serene and tranquil oasis, the perfect place to unwind and recharge. We found it easy to relax and let go of our worries. I highly recommend the traditional Hamam - it was a truly rejuvenating experience!

There were three of us getting massages. Two of us had a pretty good experience, but the third person did not enjoy her experience at all as the masseuse lady was constantly on her phone, scrolling/texting and trying to massage with one hand!! Unacceptable. We will NOT be returning.

No, personally I would say, don't go here for a massage. I think they do good Hamman but not massage. It just felt like someone rubbing oil into your skin. The people that work here do not look happy, there were a couple with attitude. Wouldn't recommend. Definitely NOT better than Thailand 😅

Very nice spa with a wide variety of massages and Hammam. Would absolutely recommend for a relaxing activity after a long day of exploring.

This was my first ever hammam so I can't compare with anywhere else but I felt very satisfied. I paid 230 dhm for one hour, with the black soap and scrub. I think I lost half a kilo in dead skin cells!! It was very relaxing, a bit rough but that's how it works, and a lovely mint tea relaxing in my robe afterwards. The place is spotlessly clean. I would repeat again if staying longer. You don't need to take anything - flip-flops, disposable underwear etc is all provided.

I originally planned to find a public hammam to experience a traditional bath. I'm so happy I decided to book here instead. The experience is wonderful. Beautiful atmosphere and lovely staff. For those who have never experienced this, I highly recommend. They provide a robe, paper underwear, slippers and a locker for your belongings. After changing, you are served tea while waiting for your turn. First lovely room was a steam room where you are drenched with water and applied black Moroccan soap and lay for approximately 15 minutes to soak in the heat and moisture. Next room has a beautiful black pedestal table you lay on while you are scrubbed from head to toe. The amount of dead skin removed is incredible. Best experience. I wish I could bring this home with me.

The tonic massage is definitely worth its price. The better Thai massage than in Thailand.

This is an absolutely fantastic place a bit of a labyrinth but so enjoyable with winding streets and multiple marketplaces and plenty of cafes and eating spots. Great atmosphere and one of the streets will take you down to the beach. We spent hours just wandering around and it’s up there with any marketplace in Morocco.

Caravane Café has been recommended to us and we decided to give it a go. After no one replied to our email for a booking we needed to go in person and make one. Service was OK, nothing extraordinary. There was no toilet paper or soap in the bathroom, which we thought was pretty strange for such an expensive place. The food was nicely cooked and delicious, a little bit on the gourmet side and overpriced – no doubt. The atmosphere was really nice and arty. There was entertainment, we had a magician, previously there were people playing with fire, which seems to be changing on a regular base, but you have to pay for it, which no one has mentioned to us. So, all in all mixed feelings and not very impressed!

We were in Essaouira for two full weeks and ate in about 10 different restaurants, and this was the best. Beautiful interior decor, professional service, polite, they know their menu inside out. They have a wine list. I am mentioning this because less than 5 % of the restaurant has alcohol in this city, probably in this country. Some of the sauces used to could have easily been jarred or store bought. The only notable flavours in the cauliflower were tomato, salt and cream. Unfortunately for the price point of the food I was hoping for something more exciting. There was nothing 'wrong' with the food. It tasted OK and I didn't have any issue with portion sizes, just expected a little better. After we had eaten the starter we left the cutlery on the plates (we are English and this may have been our mistake) but when the waiter collected the plates, poorly wiped off the cutlery and placed the dirty cutlery on the table causing a mess on the table. It felt a little careless and could have been executed better if it was necessary for us to keep it for the mains. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the main as it was a little to 'same-y' all the way through. The decor is nice, small restaurant and good presentation - overall I didn't feel prices were justified by taste.

Having gone through other 1-3 star reviews from the last 3 months, a disturbing pattern emerges. One can conclude my experience wasn't a one off. Note the prices on the menu when placing the order. Then scrutinize your bill. Prices have a mysterious tendency to inflate between the menu and your bill! If you order a small size, check if you've been charged for a larger portion instead (especially water!) If you'll point out the discrepancy in price, the manager will pretend it's a system glitch. Really? How come other people have complained of the same issue over the last few months?! The food here is average yet pricier. The chocolate fondant was mediocrity decorated with rose petals. Menu said tagines came with rice. But had to ask for it. When I did, pretty sure, the waiter muttered a scornful remark in Arabic. My advice: if you can, skip this restaurant entirely. I stayed a month in the medina. Others in the vicinity like M'Riste Jouhar, Restaurant Berber, Amira, Dar Dasha offer WAAAYYYY better food and service. For such dishonest businesses, there should be an option of leaving a negative rating.

My pasta had something unusual for a Bolognese ragú. The garlic was the strongest taste of all, followed by a big amount of parsley and really overcooked rigatoni. The pasta with melanzane e ricotta was better but nothing special. 5stars for the olives as sides. 40€ with antipasti and drinks it’s a little bit too much for what we got.

If you want to buy a scarf or blanket, the guy selling them inside the gate entrance and around the corner to the left stacked against the wall has the best - or one of the best - prices in Essouaira. It's also nice because the prices are advertised and he didn't try to hustle us at all. However don't try to haggle. He wouldn't offer any discount to another customer who tried to get a lower price. A beautiful place where you can swim, relax and dream. Sometimes you need to collect some plastic bottles. This is the only sad thing to see in this amazing place. People, locals or turists need to learn to keep tgeir rubbish with them.

Did not make the low tide, as it would have been 5:30AM. It was pretty to watch the ocean along the shore. Climbed a few sand dunes to get here but the majority of the ruins are straight back from this spot. Still a lovely walk but INCREDIBLY WINDY.

Kitesurfing spot. Nice view , shallow wather, not to big shore break but depends on the waves direction might be 4m high. You can park on the beach entrance. Nice dunes and some ruins around to see. A few sharp rocks and coral on the beach but not to many.

If you walk from Essaoura - come at the low tide. Google the tide times and start on your walk one hour before the low tide. This is a beautiful place to make a wish, we call them The Wishing Rocks 👍🏼😃

Beautiful remains of a small building out from shore. Sometimes surrounded by water, you can climb it if you dare. Also walk inland to see more remains of (possibly) a similar structure covered in sand. A perfect adult playground.

Nice 30 minute walk from Essaouira beach. The place is fenced in partially, so if you want to leave and find a way out - take it. Walked past barb-aired fences for 15 minutes before climbing one to get out.

Lovely 2 mile walk along the beach from Essaouira, needing to paddle across the river which is very shallow at this point. The old palace is in ruins with no information about it, but still interesting to see. We walked back across the road bridge and the road - not as pleasant but ok.

Ruins in the sand. Nothing much to see there. If you're roaming nearby you should take a look but it's a little detour from the road from Essaouira to Agadir and not really worth it. Landscape looks pretty nice on the beach side behind the dunes though, maybe next time.

This is supposed to be Jimmy Hendrix house. Camel ride worth it but seeing his house a waist on my opinion. But definitely do the camel ride or 4 wheelers or both

I experienced it while on a quad. Enjoy that experience to go through the local terrain to reach the beach. It was fabulous. I’m a history lover so I enjoy seeing the ruins.

Went for a walk from Essaouira (you can go via the beach the whole way, the mouh of the river is dried up; or go via the road). Nice enough, but not much to see, after hanging around for 15 minutes I went back to town. Completely free. Not really worth the 2-hour round trip walking, would only recommend it if you're passing nearby anyway and visit it as a small detour.

You can walk around through the ruins which was once home to people and destroyed by vagabonds and sand and wind. A good opportunity to see something from the past at no cost. There is a grove of trees nearby I also enjoyed walking through. Climb over the sand dunes toward the ocean and you will see the Borj Al barad.

The view looks good from outside. I didn't go inside the fort due to the entrance fee and didn't feel like it will be a better view inside

This is the second half of the tower at the port and is a circular cannon defence, and all part of the entry fee to the Squala / tower. Great views over the fish market below. Unlike a sanitised supermarket fish counter this is a working port brining fish for local consumption, these are the ones you see on sale and the rest go straight to the freezers and cold storage for shipping. This is great spot to watch the ebb and flow in the market as people buy fish, get them cleaned by the guys who do just that for a living, and then get them grilled round the corner. It also gives a great view over the islands too.

Despite being in a city visited by many tourists, the mosque retains its authentic local spirit. The worshippers are warm and respectful, and there's a genuine feeling of unity and peace. If you’re in Essaouira and looking to attend Jumah or simply want a quiet place to pray, Mohamed Ben Youssef Mosque is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting choice.
