Shakespeare's Birthplace, located on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, is a restored 16th-century half-timbered house where William Shakespeare was born and spent his early years. The house features memorabilia, period furnishings, and changing exhibitions related to the Bard.
A must for fans of the famous bard as it is where he was born. There’s a small exhibition with some audiovisual elements, a small but pretty cottage garden and, of course, the house itself. It’s very popular and there are often group bookings so expect some queues and the need for a little patience.

A wonderful piece of history, perfectly preserved. Lovely, helpful staff. We were utterly delighted during our visit to have some actors performing sections from the plays. A beautiful, important and valuable place.
M K — Google review
Very interesting to see where Shakespeare grew up. You can also purchase tickets to go on a tour of his house. The town itself has lovely shops, even an all-year-round Christmas shop. Definitely walk around the town, there are so many interesting facts you can read, along your walk.
Keryn M — Google review
With not a lot of time to spare, we ran through this wonderful landmark and got a wonderful experience. Shakespeare’s birthplace felt like a familiar home even though it was our first visit there. The volunteers were incredibly helpful and friendly, went above and beyond to help and support each visitor. The tickets that we bought only covered Shakespeares birthplace but there was an option to see Anne Hathaways home which due to time constraints, we couldn’t do. I also believe that the tickets also allow you to go back over a 12 month period as many times as you want to. All in all, a wonderful place to see, visit and enjoy.
JACKIE W — Google review
This visit is so well done and it’s incredible to see the house where Shakespeare lived. There is also a beautiful garden in the interior and guides around the house to help educate you and tell you about the rooms you are visiting! There is also a rendition of Romeo and Juliette every 15 minutes. They make it very kid friendly as well with a scavenger hunt. We didn’t buy tickets in advance but were able to walk right up and enter.
Mibbie P — Google review
Very charming street with a lovely park. BUT … VERY touristic. If focused on learning about Shakespeare, then this is the place to be. If focused on the Cotswolds and charming villages, then you may wish to skip Stratford Upon Avon and venture to smaller villages that offer a more peaceful experience.
Bryan S — Google review
If you're into Shakespeare (and who isn't?), it's a must visit. The guides are knowledgeable, the exhibits fascinating, the building magnificent. I recommend purchasing the one ticket for all three sites, this one, Nash's house, and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. £30 for all three is great value. Down sides? Busy no matter what time of day it is. Lots of School and Coach groups from far and wide.
David W — Google review
I really enjoyed our visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace. We bought the 3 site pass at the door and visited here first. We started by going through and exhibit with some background and information on Shakespeare and then outside and in the queue to enter the house. There was about a 10-15 min wait to get into the house itself as we were following a school group. Inside the house there were staff in multiple rooms who provided background to the spaces and information on Shakespeare life and the home. We found it very informative. Before or after entering the house you can walk through the beautiful garden right outside it. The exit is through the bookshop/giftshop.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, located in Stratford-upon-Avon, is a striking red-brick building dedicated to showcasing Shakespearean works. The theater also features a rooftop restaurant for visitors to enjoy. The venue has received recognition for its architectural design and transformation, with London-based theatre design consultancy Charcoalblues being awarded for their work on the project.
Thoroughly enjoyed seeing "A Winter's Tale" at this charming theatre. The acting was superb and the effects were intriguing. I don't think there's a bad view in this theatre, and the seats were quite comfortable. The ushers were friendly and made check-in easy. If you get a chance, definitely attend one of their productions!
Natalie N — Google review
No matter the performance being staged, the quality and settings are superb! As a larger lady, the seating was a bit snug, but doable! All the staff there are super friendly and very helpful and have just become members, so even better deals etc!

This review is related to the behind-the-scenes tour that you can do at 10:15 AM. I’m sure the play performances are exquisite. If you are a big fan of the behind-the-scenes tour will be indispensable for you. If you have ever been backstage for a theater, you may find this to be of interest Otherwise, it really wasn’t that interesting of a tour and I wish I wouldn’t have gone on it. I do hope to see a play here sometime in the future.

🎭✨ Behind the curtain at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre A dream come true for any theatre lover — today we visited the iconic Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, home of the legendary Royal Shakespeare Company. 🎟️🌿 The highlight? The costume exhibition, where centuries of stage magic come alive through beautifully crafted gowns, crowns, swords, and velvet cloaks. 👑🗡️✨ Each piece tells a story — worn by actors who brought Shakespeare’s words to life night after night. Standing among those costumes felt like stepping straight into Hamlet or Macbeth… only with better lighting and no tragic endings this time 😅🎬 Truly a place where history, art, and imagination meet under one spotlight. 🌟🎭
Babs B — Google review
we've seen avery good play of "Cyrano de Bergerac"! Thanks to the actors 👍🙏. We had an wonderful evening in the theatre. I took a friend from Germany with me and although his English knowledge is not very good and the play is based on a lot of witty words he enjoyed the play very much. It was a truly amazing evening.

Awesome modern theatre designed to mimic the C16th stage. Called the Swan Theatre it occupies the Victorian turret. Group tour was very informative with excellent guide. Would be fulfilling to see a production here.

Great Place for Shakespeare fans Sadly we could not see a play, but we were already happy to see this historical place and the shop where we were able to purchase a few Shakespearian souvenirs. The place itself has on top of the Theater a café & a restaurant and obviously the boutique. Very close to the canal so great to visit and then go for a stroll. It was all really nice to peruse & visit. Highly recommended!

Anne Hathaway's Cottage, located just a mile outside of the city center in Shottery near Stratford-upon-Avon, is a wattle-and-daub family home that offers visitors a unique insight into the life of William Shakespeare and his wife. The cottage itself is surrounded by idyllic countryside and features original furniture.
A beautiful location and the house and grounds were lovely, especially the orchard and the sculptures. Front garden was empty which was a shame but we think they were revamping and considering the recent hot weather doesn't difficult to keep plants going. Susan the tour guide at the front of the house was excellent and friendly well work a listen to, to get the background story. the Cafe opposite was super clean and had a small but excellent menu and gardens to sit in.
Annette G — Google review
We really loved our visit to Anne’s house. Located on the outskirts of town, it’s setting with the gardens and orchard were absolutely idyllic. In the house, there were staff at different locations, explaining and demonstrating different parts of the home and how certain items (like the oven) worked. They were highly informative and added to our visit. Rooms also had many signs with background info. They sell cider from the apples on the farm (as well as many other souvenirs). I found it to be both quiet at relaxing at the time of our visit.
Alyssa B — Google review
Visited the cottage as part of the package ticket we purchased to see various Shakespeare sites. Went on a Monday afternoon in September and it was quiet, free of the tourist groups. The volunteers we interacted with were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, explaining the history and interesting facts. There is a nearby car park that you have to pay to park, and it’s a short walk to the cottage.

Absolutely charming place! 🏡✨ Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is a beautiful slice of history surrounded by peaceful gardens and flowers that look straight out of a fairy tale 🌸🌿 The house itself is full of character — you can really imagine Anne and young Shakespeare wandering around here, planning sonnets and secret dates 😄🎭 Lovely staff, well-maintained grounds, and plenty of photo spots (especially for hopeless romantics like me 💕). A must-visit when in Stratford-upon-Avon — I’d happily come back every year! 🌷📸

We were lucky to have beautiful weather which made for great outdoor photos, the guides we're very informative with the History of the cottage. It is in beautiful condition. Hopefully it'll be around for many more years to come, for the future visitors to enjoy it as we did

A lovely cottage in extensive grounds, with lots of history. Worth taking time, looking at the exhibits, and particularly listening to and conversing with the guides. All were knowledgeable, and presented in an interesting way. Recommended

Bought a ticket for my mum and I to visit all 3 of Shakespeare’s houses, this has to be my favourite, not only is it quieter that the other 2 houses because it isn’t directly in the centre of Stratford it is so much more peaceful, the gardens and orchards are stunning, the upkeep of the house is beautiful. The cafe is located on the other side of the road but you can come in and out re scanning your ticket, as a vegetarian coeliac I managed to get a lovely lunch, a gluten free toastie (using shaar paninis) they could do a gluten free toastie with any filling, and a lovely brownie to finish, the crisps were also gluten free. Lovely day out, reasonable parking too £2 for 3 hours

Located in the heart of Stratford upon Avon, The MAD Museum is a unique attraction showcasing interactive mechanical art and design. The museum's exhibits feature buttons, handles, lights, and sound effects that allow visitors to engage with kinetic art and automata. These moving sculptures are sourced from artists worldwide and offer an immersive experience for both children and adults. If you're unfamiliar with mechanical art, think of the whimsical machines seen in Wallace and Gromit or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
🎡 MAD Museum – Stratford-upon-Avon 🎡 If you ever wondered what happens when art, science and pure madness meet… welcome to The MAD Museum! 🤯💡 It’s a brilliant mix of moving sculptures, clever mechanisms, and “how on earth does this even work?!” moments. From marble runs to kinetic art – everything moves, spins, clicks, or surprises you when you least expect it! ⚙️🎨 We pressed buttons, pulled levers, and probably set off more machines than we were supposed to 😅 Perfect place for curious minds, big kids, and anyone who secretly loves pushing every single button in sight! 🚀 Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Stratford – just don’t expect to leave without saying “wow” at least ten times! 😄 #MADMuseum #StratfordUponAvon #FunDayOut #ScienceMeetsArt #CuriousMinds #WeekendAdventures #TravelWithBabs

We recently visited this place and had a wonderful experience overall. The venue features a lot of interactive contraptions and truly creative art pieces that spark curiosity and imagination. The environment is very engaging, especially for children they were genuinely excited and thoroughly enjoyed exploring everything on offer. That said, there are a couple of areas where improvements could enhance the experience. First, while the interactive installations are visually captivating, the inability to physically engage with most of them makes some exhibits feel more like animations than hands-on art. Adding more tactile or physical interaction would elevate the experience further. Secondly, a few of the major attractions, including the highly anticipated marble run, were unfortunately out of order during our visit. These are usually a big hit with kids, so it was a bit of a letdown. Despite these small drawbacks, it’s a unique and imaginative space that’s definitely worth a visit especially for families with curious young minds. Would recommend children age 5+.
Sameer P — Google review
Absolutely amazing place to visit. Especially good on either a rainy day or when it’s boiling hot outside and you need some aircon! Even just entering the museum there’s a ball contraption that I got stuck watching for 5 minutes. Don’t be fooled by the size of the museum as you genuinely could take 1-2 hours to look through everything. Every single contraption is a work of art, and you can watch them for minutes on end. They are all operated by waving your hand in front of a sensor that’s located next to each machine. It kept me and my girlfriend entertained for over an hour. There’s even a make your own marble contraption in the back of the museum where you stick wooden tracks onto a metal wall and run marbles down. We got sidetracked doing this for a very long time! The price is extremely good and well worth a visit. Highly recommended.
Alex W — Google review
Wow, what an amazing little museum, we spent just shy of 2 hours here, mainly as the exhibits can be viewed again and again. All the exhibits can be started by waving a hand so very user friendly for small children. The marble machines are mesmerising if they stuck a chair in front of them I'd have been there for hours! They have a room for kids to make their own marble runs as well. Even the toilets are worth a visit as the theme is continued into them Overall a brilliant museum to kill a couple of hours plus under 6's go free.
Sarah M — Google review
A great way to spend an hour; but, only really good value if you get a 'buy one, get one free' ticket. You can get those through the train website. Lots of animatronics to look at and some cool things in the shop. They accept the Blue Light card. A great place for kids, engineers and those who like to see something a little different or learn something new.
Mary J — Google review
This was our first visit but definitely not the last. Next time we are bringing Grandad!! A brilliant afternoon with so many interactive models and displays. The marble runs were our favourite. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Loved it!
CatherineL — Google review
Fantastic experience! Suitable for ALL ages. Interactive, educational and inspiring. The gift shop has amazing items at very reasonable prices, great to stock up for presents. Don't miss it!
Nicola N — Google review
Visited with our grandchildren on the strength of the reviews. It was well worth it. If you’ve ever wondered what can be done with bits of plywood this is for you. The cams and engineering used in some of the exhibits is quite bonkers but in a good way. The interactive marble runway for the children was our girls’ favourite bit but all the exhibits are working too - just wave your hand over the nearby sensor and watch them come to life. The outside of the building is nondescript and easy to walk past but the magic is inside. Well worth a visit.

Holy Trinity Church is a medieval church in Stratford-upon-Avon, known for being the final resting place of William Shakespeare. The church also houses his baptism and burial records. It is one of the must-see attractions in the area, along with other famous sights like Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Shakespeare's Homes, Tudor World Museum & the Falstaff Experience, and Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Shakespeare’s home church from the cradle to the grave. Worth seeing and considering Shakespeares life and impact on western civilization. He is buried inside next to his wife near the front of the church. The building itself is beautiful, appears crooked or slanted in the front but the tour guide said that the architect slanted the building on purpose to depict Christ’s head tilting on the cross. The precision and intentionality is unmatched in modern architecture. The symbolism is beautiful!

Historical & Landmark place This is where Shakespeare tomb can be found. He was born & buried in Stratford-Upon-Avon. You can come to this church walking from the town centre, it is actually a really nice walk and will take you about ten minutes. The Church is really beautiful & historical, well worth your time.
Paul V — Google review
Beautiful church, one of only half a dozen in this country with a 'weeping chancel'. Also contains Shakespeare's grave. Cost us £5 each to visit the grave and listen to a really interesting talk. Nice little gift shop. The church sits on the banks of the river its overall a lovely place to visit.
Sarah S — Google review
Such a beautiful church and grounds. Where Shakespeare was baptized, married and buried. You can walk into the church, and look around free of charge. If you would like to visit Shakespeare's resting place. As you walk up the aisle there is a lady, seated, where you pay £5 per person. Then you can walk up and view where Shakespeare was laid to rest, also, his wife Anne Hathaway, his daughter Susanna Hall and her husband Dr John Hall. Also, their son-in-law Thomas Nash. The first husband of their daughter Elizabeth Hall. At the side of the church, in the grounds there is a large Cedar tree from Gethsemane. Walk to the side of the church , outside, and you find the beautiful River Avon.

🕍✨ A moment with Shakespeare’s legacy Today we visited the beautiful Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon — the final resting place of William Shakespeare, the world’s greatest playwright. 🌿📜 Standing by his grave felt almost surreal — centuries may have passed, yet his words still echo through time, inspiring readers and dreamers around the world. ✍️💫 And there it was, his famous inscription, warning everyone not to disturb his bones... even after death, Shakespeare knew how to add a touch of drama! 🎭😄 A peaceful place filled with history, poetry, and the quiet reminder that “All the world’s a stage.” 🌸

Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon is a truly beautiful and historic place. Set by the peaceful River Avon, the church’s surroundings are picturesque and serene, making it a perfect spot for reflection and quiet moments. The interior is stunning, with intricate stained glass windows, elegant architecture, and a deep sense of history that fills the space. Visiting Shakespeare’s burial site inside the church is a remarkable experience, handled with great care and respect by the staff and volunteers. Everyone here is warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, adding to the overall charm of the visit. Whether you come for its spiritual atmosphere, its history, or its beauty, Holy Trinity Church is a must-see when in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Visiting the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon was a truly peaceful and memorable experience. The church, with its beautiful riverside setting and stunning architecture, offers a calm and reflective atmosphere. Walking through the historic interior, you can feel a deep sense of reverence and history, especially knowing that it’s the resting place of William Shakespeare. The stained glass windows and ancient stonework add to the quiet charm, making it a wonderful place to pause and take in the beauty of both faith and history. I left feeling refreshed and serene; it’s definitely worth a visit for anyone exploring Stratford-upon-Avon.

Hall's Croft, located in Stratford-upon-Avon's Old Town, is a historic Jacobean building that was once the residence of John Hall, a local physician who married William Shakespeare's daughter, Susanna. The house features Jacobean furnishings and includes displays of medical equipment, books, and an herb garden that John used for his medicinal treatments. The property has been restored to reflect the 17th-century lifestyle of a physician and his family.
Take a step back in time and visit this marvellous attraction the prices are really cheap and you can tickets for an affordable price where you can visit all the houses through out the year. I really enjoyed Hall's Croft it made me feel like I had gone through a time machine and ended up in the past. The house is kept in remarkable condition and is good for all your Shakespearian needs. Really recommend this place if you want to broaden your Shakespeare horizons.

Brilliant! Fantastic place full of history I recommend getting the full package ticket and doing all 5 places although we only managed 3 in a day! Absolutely stunning gardens friendly staff and amazing artifacts to see. Lots for children to learn, our two teenage boys really enjoyed the experience. Lots of local car parks charging around £2 an hour. All Saints church within walking distance to see Shakespeares Grave but be prepared to pay £4 an adult and £1 a child. Situated close to the town, Shakespeare birthplace and New place it is a lovely day out!

It’s a very nice museum of Shakespeare’s home. I believe it was where Shakespeare’s eldest daughter and her husband, Dr John Hall lived. There’s a fascinating collection of antiques and historical medical equipment. The architecture also offers glimpses into the past culture. There’s a nice garden out back and a cafe where you could get cream tea.

Beautiful house of Shakespeare's daughter's and her husband's house. Interesting exhibits and beautiful garden. Good value with the combined ticket.

Not my favourite out of the houses but well worth a visit. The garden isn't as extensive as the some of the others but if you have an inclusive ticket, it's worth the trip. Very close to the church where Shakespeare is buried and there is a lovely walk back along the river. Look at some the the lovely old houses on the walk out. It is only 10 minutes walk from New place so is a good round trip. The cafe is excellent and all freshly made

Hall’s Croft Stratford-upon-Avon is another one of the 5 places you can visit on your Full Story Ticket. This very regal house belonged to Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna and her husband. It is a place of wealth and quite spectacular. Beautifully maintained including the gardens. There was an ancient Black Mulberry tree and a Medlar Tree and a thriving vegetable garden. Very interesting place.
Valerie D — Google review
Another interesting addition to the Shakespeare learning experience! Nicely set out with what I can only assume was a mouse hunt for children running through the house! Had fun finding them all either way!
Lara W — Google review
Hall's croft is so lovely. The garden is one of the most peaceful spots I've come across (of course it depends on how busy it is when you visit!). The house is creaking with history. Part of a great day out in Stratford-upon-Avon. Loads of history to absorb, lovely locations, beautiful town. Shakespeare's New Place is a historical site in Stratford that was the last residence of William Shakespeare. The property includes a garden that was created in 1756 by Reverend Francis Gastrell, who owned the house at the time. Adjacent to New Place is Nash's House, which has been transformed into a museum showcasing the Tudor period when Shakespeare lived. Additionally, visitors can explore Anne Hathaway's cottage in Shottery and Mary Arden's house in Wilmcote nearby.
It is one of the three places you visit whilst on your Stratford upon Avon tour. I love the place and the little engagements that they keep for people of all age. The orator is very knowledgeable and quite enthusiastic. I loved that she answered all our questions and gave us a deep insight into the new place. This is located right next to the church which can also be visited.
Manjari J — Google review
Mixed views on this site as I don't think it's a great value but they have done about as well as you could give there is no house. The reality is this is the site of the house Shakespeare bought but it was demolished in the 1700s, so is currently a garden with a small exhibition in the historic house next door. They have done well with the site given this as it has beautiful gardens, an exhibition about the site's history, and interesting 20 minute talks about the site and Shakespeare's connection to it. But the upstairs exhibition was closed when we were there, so really it was one room plus 20 minutes talk plus a stroll through gardens - so a bit less to see than the other local sites. Gardens are beautiful, and have benches throughout to enjoy. I imagine in spring they are stunning. Toilets unisex, and mostly clean. Very small shop at the end.
Becky T — Google review
Spoiler alert... Shakespeare's new place was demolished over three centuries ago. However, it's still a fascinating visit. The history of the house and what replaced it is really interesting, the property next door still exists and forms part of the tour, the gardens are beautiful. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable and it's well worth engaging with them. Recommended
David W — Google review
Sadly the house itself did not survive and instead the site is a beautiful garden with access to the house next door that houses an exhibit. The best part of the experience are the talks every 20 minutes that give a funny and engaging overview of Shakespeare’s life in New Place and the history of the town. The gardens are pretty and the art installations are such fun; the garden statues represent several of Shakespeare’s plays. Worth going to as part of the story ticket.
Layla T — Google review
While very different from Shakespeare’s birthplace (because there’s no building left), this is well worth a stop in for history fans. We got a wonderful and informative 20 minute lecture, saw excellent exhibits next door, and toured the lovely gardens.
Caleb L — Google review
If you want to experience and learn more about the Shakespeare journey, buy the combination ticket of the birthplace, The New Place and Anne Hathaway Cottage. All 3 together is a complete picture. New Place only is not enough to fill the story. New Place gardens are beautiful and the guides are friendly and informative.
Nadia K — Google review
Visited Shakespeare’s New Place as part of our 3 site pass. Of the 3 sites we visited, this one felt the least historical - more of a museum of curated artefacts and commentary than a historical and preserved site. That being said, we learned things and enjoyed ourself. Unlike the other 2 sites with staff in different rooms providing education, this one just had a single person out in the garden doing scheduled talks. We missed the start and didn’t want to wait 30 min for the next one so we just explored without the preamble. The garden itself was the highlight for me, but overall we were only here about 30 minutes. I don’t think I’d pay to visit it independently, but worth a stop as part of the 3 site pass.
Alyssa B — Google review
It felt like a museum curated with artefacts. As it was rebuilt and renovated multiple times over the years, it doesn't evoke that feeling of Sherlock's home like the Birth place.

Phenomenal experience! The tour guides were so knowledgeable and kind. Fascinating facts about the educational experience dating back to the 1400's. Hands on experience in an all boys schoolroom while learning calligraphy. If you love history, it is worth every minute. King Charles attended .... HRH

We bought tickets in advance but could have bought them on arrival. The guide was very informative and the teacher was both knowledgeable and entertaining. We only did this one Shakespeare experience whilst in Stratford upon Avon and we were very happy with our choice. We enjoyed writing with the quill and ink. Good value for money too.

Tudor World, located in a charming old timbered Tudor building on Sheep Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, offers an interactive experience that brings the 16th century to life. Visitors can immerse themselves in historical settings with actors dressed in period attire as guides. The museum also provides opportunities to interact with ghostly figures and even meet a portrayal of William Shakespeare himself. Additionally, guests can join walking tours led by Shakespeare or take part in eerie ghost tours of the haunted mansion.
What a lovely little place to take your little ones, to explore how it was like back in Tudor era. It was my second time coming with my little sisters who excitedly brought our parents along this time round too. They love the interactive games and videos, there’s so many sensory activities included for an amazing price. Thank you for completing our lovely experience in Stratford Upon Avon

We came as two adults, and think it was much more suited for small kids than us. It does show differing aspects of Tudor life, like meals, bedrooms, royalty, ship life, schoolrooms, and streets across two floors - but has a fake quality to the displays whilst also feeling quite simplified (and perhaps not always 100% accurate). We spent about 25 minutes and read almost every sign, but did not do the hands on activities like riddles, dressing up, or trying quill pens. I imagine these would be quit engaging for small children though.
Becky T — Google review
As two adults, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The museum itself is slightly more kid-oriented but that didn't mean we didn't enjoy! Managed to catch Ben's crime & punishment performance and couldn't fauly it — really was a highlight of the tour 😊🌟

For the price I would say well worth the money. Need around an hour, try an go off peak hours. You can have fun dressing up, smelling different areas and learning some basics of tutor times. Not information overload which I think is good for the younger ones. It could probably do with a bit of a touch up here and there is my only criticism

Interactive museum with various activities to try including writing with a quill, sitting on a throne or watching various videos. Approx 1 hour duration if reading all the information. Late night, ghost tours available.

My partner was chose to hold the lantern at the back and we had such a laugh about it! Really funny. John was also very knowledgeable and gave us insight in the house past in each room, enabling us to be aware of things we wouldn't know without our tour. Could not highly recommend this enough. Mary Arden's Farm, located in Wilmcote village just northwest of the River Avon and 3 miles from Stratford, is a historic Tudor-style farmhouse that offers visitors a glimpse into the rural upbringing of William Shakespeare's mother. Managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, this working Tudor farm allows guests to experience traditional archery and falconry, explore nature trails, and learn about rare breeds.
Fantastic place to take the kids. Buy a ticket for all Shakespeare's houses and you can go as many times as you like. The place is beautifully restored and has lots of people in period dress to tell you about the history. The animals are very accessible and friendly with plenty of places to wash your hands. The food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced and with good veggie options. The kids particularly liked the archery and the excellent falconry display. Will definitely go again. Highly recommended.

This is an ideal place to spend half a day with kids. There lots of animals and a playground for them, plus lots of great historical sites and information for kids and adults. It is included on the multi site Shakespeare tickets. Those tickets last for a year so are a great value. There is an adequate cafeteria. There are lots of activities and tours.

An enthralling and unique way to learn and experience the life and times of William Shakespeare. The farm has plenty of things to see and do, from chopping wood and watching falconry to seeing the set up of a traditional Tudor household. The staff are 'in character' which adds to the fun and it is highly amusing when they balk at 'obvious witchcraft' when using phones and cameras. This is a great place to visit no matter the age.

Great place for a trip out. Out of the Shakespeare locations this is definitely the child centric one but still interesting to be in and around! The staff are all very knowledgeable on the subject and clearly enjoy working there which makes for a lovely environment. There was an old person inside the chapel but I would really appreciate him that inspite of being so old he continued explaining the history of church to the tourists. He was very humble as he explained me the history and showed me various photographs as well. Beautiful history and beautiful people.

Free to enter this 600 year old one room chapel, and see the medieval wall paintings. Was expecting there would be more paintings, there was only really one main one. The explanations/guides were confusing and there was no one in there. Harvard House, also known as The Ancient House, is a stunning Grade 1 Elizabethan townhouse in Stratford upon Avon. It was rebuilt after the Great Fire in 1594 and was owned by the grandparents of Harvard University's founder. The house boasts intricate architectural features, rich furnishings, and is managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust on behalf of Harvard University. Adjacent to it is a half-timbered home that once belonged to John Harvard's mother.
I think this is where the guy who donated money to start Harvard lived maybe. It was interesting but apparently now it's closed. I think it was part of the ticket we paid somehow to see all the important parts of Stratford upon Avon in 2016. It was OK. Old house.

(Translated by Google) It is the oldest pub in Stratford, and the prettiest on the outside. Inside it has old subdivisions that keep it unique, but the decoration is that of a modern pub and not very spectacular. We ate very well, I must say. The soup of the day was delicious, and the sirloin was very delicious. The prices... the usual ones. Just one note to keep in mind... there is no cell phone reception in the dining room; And don't trust it if you see "reserved" signs on all the tables. They will remove them as soon as you say you want to sit down to eat. The Gower Memorial, located in Stratford-upon-Avon, is a historic monument unveiled in 1888. It was sculpted by Lord Ronald Gower and features various Shakespearean characters such as Hamlet, Lady Macbeth, Falstaff, and Prince Hal. The memorial was moved to its current location in Bancroft Gardens in 1933 and offers views of the canal and the RSC Swan Theatre.
Pretty quiet here today as rain was in the air, so grey skies! The memorial and statues are impressive with very high quality bronze casting. The French did do this very well, it was made in France but gifted to Stratford. It’s a great story to read, with the memorial taking 12 years to construct. It had to be moved to its current location which is also another interesting story. Check out Google. 😁

Located at 22 Southern Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6BH, The Other Place is the third theater of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford. Originally a tin shed rehearsal room, it was transformed into a studio space in 1974 and has since undergone several changes. In its current form, it serves as a space for learning, research, and rehearsal with a 200-seat studio theatre.
This is the RSC'S third theatre space. Currently being used to show a youth version of Timon of Athens. Very good, enthusiastic performance in a pleasant smaller venue. Cafe is nice but beware, card only.

Saw Macbeth here, starring Sam Heughan and Lia Williams. Our seats were amazing and we loved the intimacy of the venue. We could see every gesture and facial expression, which made for a riveting theatre experience. We’ll definitely be back.
Amanda F — Google review
Just down the road from RSC, a beautiful tree lined street runs alongside the river, directly to TOP. It's a smaller, intimate space, in the round, or rather cube, and has only two rows of seats per side upstairs, and not much more down. This made us feel like we were almost part of the play, so close were we to the action. The actors were convincing, every line was audible and the fights and murders gripping. It was accessible Shakespeare, all the meaning made clear by excellent technique. Shakespeare is like Marmite, you love it or hate it, but when it's this good, it's rivetting and stirring and current. The balcony seats, sadly, have no leg room, so it's very restricted and uncomfortable, especially if it's a long show. I asked to be moved, which they kindly did in the interval, but the new foot well was only a few inches deeper. Very uncomfortable, and painful if you have a disability. On the positive side, all access seats are only £16 each, and your carer pays the same. The show was a modern version of " That Scottish Play" and Sam Heughan was excellent in the title role. The supporting cast and special effects were very good too, the clever use of complete darkness and an eerie deep distant drum, gave a feeling of descending into evil deeds and madness. Well played! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Splendid theatre in the round with every seat within 3 rows of the stage. This gives an up-close and intimate atmosphere. Arguably the best way to experience the plays

The performance of Macbeth I went to see was brilliant. But the reason I give this theatre 5 stars is the staff. They were fantastic. My mum actually found sitting on a high chair hard as she is about to have back surgery soon and the staff went looking for a cushion for her. It was very kind of them.
Claire O — Google review
Balcony seats were uncomfortable for a 3 hour show: quirky production of Macbeth, very bare ( no kilts). Could have been about the King Mo of the Gorbals in reality; the actors were good and the pyrotechnics at the end was interesting in such a small venue!

Great theatre with intimate feel to the performance in the round. Staff friendly. Attend a performance of Macbeth with Sam Heughan in the lead roll. It was amazing. Great atmosphere and very gripping and foreboding. A great telling and update of the Shakespeare tradgedy. Highly recommend both the theatre and the play.

Interesting historical facts about the WWll Enigma code breakers. Attention to detail was awesome. It was all set out in a way to bring the history to life with interactive videos and puzzles. If Alan Turing is not someone you're familar with it may help to watch the movie "The Imitation Game" which is based on the story of Alan Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) and other codebreakers helping Britain in the war effort. Bletchley Park helps to bring it all to life. They also have an awesome souvenir shop that is well worth a visit. They offer a nice afternoon tea if you wish to include it in your entry fee. Go see for yourself but allow about 4 hours as it has so much to see.....

Shakespeare Distillery is a must-visit in Stratford, located at Judiths on No. 1 High Street, the former home of William Shakespeare's daughter Judith. The distillery offers an exciting Cocktail Masterclass and Rum School experience in an opulent upper floor setting. Visitors can enjoy making two different cocktails - one gin and one rum - while learning about their preparation.
A lovely welcome despite we were a little late due to Uber issues. The tour was very informative and Catherine made it humorous too. The Gins and Rum we tasted were delicious. We will be back. Thank you

The history and information given is so interesting and perfectly put together, the session flows really well. The tastings were super informative but so much fun and the flavour pairings we were given worked so well together. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting a gin tour and tasting! I think we'll be back for a gin making school session in the near future!

Booked a Gin tour at Shakespeare distillery on a Saturday afternoon. Waited in their cafe/bar area until our time slot. Great selection of drinks and snacks. Sam was our tour guide for the afternoon. Sam was so knowledgeable and engaging with all of us. We learnt so much about Gin and found all the facts and the history really interesting. The end of the tour was the tasting of the Gin. Our first shot was waiting for us when we got into the tasting room. Sam knew which Tonic complimented each of their gins. We then had our free Gin and Tonic glass to enjoy before the tour finished. Great afternoon out. Would highly recommend the tour.

The distillery tour was a gift from friends combined with a stay at Billesley Manor and we enjoyed both enormously. The tour hosts were funny, friendly and engaging and the gins and rums were delicious. Fun fact: we’ve been putting far too much tonic in our gins!!
Erica F — Google review
Wow, what a fabulous experience. Really friendly, informative and interesting. Learned a lot about how rum is made and flavoured, plus some of the history to it. The talk opened our eyes to using different mixers, rather than just cola, and the tastings were delicious. There’s no pressure to purchase from the on site shop, although we couldn’t resist. There’s a wide range of products, including gins and an amazing rum cream liqueur. We’re going to go back one day to do the ‘distillery’ experience. Would highly recommend.

We were gifted the Gin tasting tour and experience by a friend, loved the family vibes. Our hosts were brilliant, full of jokes, really enjoyed it. Best distillery tour we have been to. Gin & Rum tasted amazing!!

Stratford offers a wide variety of dining options, catering to food enthusiasts. The Giggling Squid serves exceptional Thai cuisine, while Cox's Yard provides both indoor and outdoor British dining by the River Avon. El Greco offers Greek dishes, and The One Elm is known for its delicious Sunday roast. Other notable restaurants include Sabai Sabai and 33 The Scullery.
We came here about a year or 2 ago, and remembered the Garrick burgers were really nice. So popped in again today. Again they didn’t disappoint. Lovely service from all staff, And didn’t have to wait long for food to come out. The burgers are huge and so tasty, as the chips are too, with a lovely seasoning on them. There was a little background music, but nothing too loud, just at the perfect level. We Left feeling so full.

Found on line whilst away and was not disappointed. Booked a table on line, and arrived to a quite small and quiet pub. Inside was narrow but went on forever backwards. We were asked if we were booked and informed we could pick any table. The place was lovely with black beams and white walls, the cutlery and napkins in a metal tanker. Ordered drinks snd food at the bar and after a short wait the food arrived, with a look of home cooked food. I had the chicken kev with chips, so much I could not finish, but tasted lovely. My hubby had the ale and steak pie with mash which went fine a treat. We would both ho back again and would recommend to anyone visiting the area. The staff and there service was amazing.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, enhanced by attentive staff who serve with genuine smiles. Service is both prompt and gracious, making the dining experience effortless and enjoyable. The food is flavorful, with portions that strike just the right balance. A thoroughly delightful experience — highly recommended, and we look forward to returning.

Lovely old pub but we ended up visiting because we were following a treasure hunt and the final clue was cleverly hidden in this pub! A quick drink was the least we deserved for our hard work solving the clues.

What an amazing first visit to Stratford upon Avon to see this wonderful old pub. We called at peak lunch time to see if we could seat 5 and 5 or 10 together and they split us over two tables then proceeded to look after us with some of the best customer service ever. Atif and Dawn looked after our tables and were merry and kind - made sure we got a chance to win a reward and accommodated our dietary needs with fab recommendations included. Can't recommend enough - I'll be making sure that to recommend to anyone visiting this town!

This place is everything I wanted and more. I am just now finishing my desert and feeling like I just lived my 1500s dream. I feel like I’ve just come in from peddling my wares. Steak pie…10/10. Everything is divine. Great cask ale selection. Incredible ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall, built in 1769, is a historic gem located in Warwickshire, England. Adjacent to the town hall stands a statue of Shakespeare gifted by David Garrick, the renowned actor and manager of Drury Lane Theatre. Nearby is the Guild Chapel, an impressive Gothic church with a striking wall painting of the Last Judgment dating back to around 1500.
Beautiful Tudor architecture all around the town. We really enjoyed our visit here. And definitely recommended to visit.

Nice town, good Shakespeare stuff. Parking situation is not fair. No machines take card, most places don't take cash so to exchange cash for coins is almost impossible, and the app to park won't accept an international phone number. All this means that in the time it takes to get some coins We got a parking fine. I get that it's a historical town. But in this day and age it's a bit behind, and unfair to tourists. It shouldn't be so hard to do the right thing.

In Stratford-upon-Avon, visitors can explore the hometown of William Shakespeare, the renowned playwright believed to have been born in 1564. One of the newest attractions is the William Shakespeare Statue unveiled in 2020 near his Birthplace. This impressive bronze statue by James Butler offers a great photo opportunity and overlooks Henley Street. The town itself exudes history, with Georgian buildings for shopping and dining and half-timbered Tudor houses for enjoying afternoon tea.
Stratford upon Avon, located in England, is the hometown of William Shakespeare. it is believed that William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and spent his childhood years in here. Shakespeare's former residence is located on the north side of Henry Street in the town. It is a two-story residence with an attic. It has a simple half-timbered structure, a sloped tile roof. The original-color exterior walls, protruding windows and door frames make this 16th-century old house very conspicuous among the surrounding buildings.

The Old Thatch Tavern is a historic 15th-century pub nestled in the heart of the city, making it a convenient stop for visitors exploring Shakespeare sites. With its classic pub grub and real ales, this landmark establishment offers a cozy courtyard garden and an iconic thatched roof. The tavern's rich history includes ghost stories dating back to 1795, adding to its allure.
Best meal thus far on the 6 days we’ve been in the country. Highly recommend the pies (meat) for dinner, but wife had the goat cheese salad with chicken (additional cost not listed on menu but they accommodated the request) which was as good as the pie.

A very quaint Tavern, We went on a Sunday for dinner, 6 of us. We got 1 table and asked for another table to be placed beside us, It's a small area but the staff obliged and as it was almost time for the kitchen to close, they took our order and we were served very promptly.. The food was fantastic and decent portions, The staff were young. very friendly and very helpful.

Ate here last night after booking earlier in the day, which was recommended for a Friday night. Good pub food, and smaller portion of the daily roast available. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Genevieve. Excellent customer service and good value for money. Roast Pork, Steak and the Chicken Pie plus desserts of sundae and cheesecake all enjoyed! 😋

Just arrived to town and we just had a great dinner of pie and chips and a pork roast dinner. Fantastic cider on tap and delicious sticky toffee pudding to finish. Highly recommend!

Roast dinner is very good but we had a 50 minute wait to get our food. Booking states 1 HR 30 time slot, good job no one asked us if we wanted a pudding as time was running out. Had McFlurry's from a well known burger restaurant instead 😋 Service was hit & miss went to bar to order 2 drinks & when asked by lady behind bar she just walked away 🤔 very weird. Food excellent & the gravy was amazing.

Pleasant Sunday lunch. Plenty of tender beef, my partner had plenty of turkey. The vegetables were good. May be just my preference, but the roast potatoes weren't done enough, the stuffing not cooked, the Yorkshire pudding was more like shop bought and the gravy tasteless. With small tweaks, it would be very good :)

The minute we walked into the Old Thatch Tavern, we were greeted by super friendly Emma. The main courses were delicious, as were the desserts. The apple crumble was excellent and believe me, I'm a connoisseur of crumbles!! The birthday candle on my husband's sundae was a lovely touch too. Compliments to the chef and to Emma too.  We look forward to a return visit when we're next in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Everyman Stratford-upon-Avon is a new movie theater that has opened in the redeveloped shopping courtyard Bell Court. The theater features a selection of classic and indie films, as well as events like live music concerts.
Enjoyed a film with my daughter on her birthday. It was quite busy. The seats are sofas with a side table, there are variations depending what you book. The auditoriums are not huge but just the right size and comfortable. Food and drinks are delivered to your seat. Friendly and helpful staff.
Steve W — Google review
An Unforgettable Experience Everyman Cinema Stratford isn't just a cinema; it's a complete experience that truly redefines movie-going. I took the whole family, and honestly, we've never had a cinema trip quite like it. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is just different. It's welcoming, stylish, and feels miles away from the usual bustling multiplex. What really sets it apart is the comfort. Forget cramped seats and sticky floors; here, you're sinking into plush sofas and armchairs, making it feel more like a cozy night in than a public screening. And then there's the food and drink. This isn't your average soggy hotdog and lukewarm soda. Everyman delivers high-quality food and drink directly to your seat, and it's genuinely delicious. We were all pleasantly surprised by the range and freshness – it's certainly not what you expect from a cinema chain. The fact that the screens are slightly smaller actually enhances the experience. It creates a more personal and intimate setting, making you feel more immersed in the film. This, combined with the incredible comfort and top-notch service, made the entire film so much more enjoyable. Everyman Cinema Stratford has truly elevated the cinema experience for my family. We're already planning our next visit!
Marc S — Google review
This really is a beautiful cinema, great food and service. The seats weren't as spacious as we expected, I'm not sure how much it changes between screens. They focus on catering high end food but you only have a tiny table you share with the probably stranger next to you. We sat in the first row in a smaller screening room, booking only a few hours before the movie, there werent many spaces left this Sunday afternoon. It was way too close to the screen, at this price I would expect to see the movie well from any seat. Definitely go for row 3 and further. We've recently joined Everyman cinemas members. The 10% off food hasn't worked for us at this venue (or the other one we visited) but it was honoured when we went out to order in person. They need to get a good developer and make a proper website and app, you need it to book your ticket (they can fill up fast) and order your food to your seat... neither worked as it should with membership perks.

Everyman Cinema in Stratford-upon-Avon is a real gem. From the moment I walked in, the surroundings felt warm, stylish & welcoming. The service also stood out thanks to Tara who was friendly, attentive and genuinely added to the experience. The cinema itself has comfortable seating, offers service to your seat and a fantastic selection of films that makes each visit feel a little bit different. It is so much more than just “going to the cinema” - it feels like a real treat.

Never been to an Everyman before and we loved it! Really comfortable chairs and sofas, footrests and even waitress service! Staff were great and really helpful. Managed to go to a Silver Screen showing, the free hot drink and cake were lovely! Definitely recommend and will return.

All the staff in the everyman cinema, Stratford, were faultless. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM HIGHLY ENOUGH FOR THOSE WITH ACCESS NEEDS. I took my Nan who is wheelchair bound to a very full showing of the Thursday murder club. The bar staff were so accommodating and even took us into the screen before the showing to allow us to find an appropriate seat. Adam, the manager, was so kind and helpful. He went the extra mile by helping Nan in and out of her chair. Thank you everyone for your help and making our visit so great. Thanks, Jess & Nan 😄
Jess B — Google review
A posh little cinema. Comfy sofa seats or single seats with little side tables to put all your bits. The food was surprisingly good; much better than what you'd expect of a cinema with loads of options from pizzas and burgers to tapas style dishes with a wide range of drinks too. The novelty of table service was great and the staff looked after us very well. We'd have spent more time in the bar area if we'd have had time as it's a nice space to debrief after a film with glass walls and a balcony looking over the Bell Court. You obviously pay more for all these little luxuries but it's totally worth it.

The Shakespeare Distillery Gin School, established in 2015, offers small batch, high-quality gin inspired by the Tudor period. Located on the outskirts of town, visitors can explore their shop and taste top gins at the High Street location. Additionally, Judiths School of Spirits above the shop provides rum schools, cocktail masterclasses, and gin tasting experiences.
Bought this for the other half's birthday and of course I couldn't share a still. Amazing experience and brilliant fun. The guys were informative without being boring or too technical. Sam was very helpful as the other half wanted to add an unique ingredient (samphire) and he help balance the flavours. On top of a fun experience (and now a desire to change career!!l) we walked away with 4 bottles (2 x 50cl 2 x 20cl) of gin. Would highly recommend...I'm now looking at their rum distilling experience. Thank you guys

Absolutely brilliant experience. Bought for a friend’s birthday which 4 of us attended. The staff were amazing entertainers whilst clearly being incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. We were supported through the whole process resulting in us making some very drinkable gin which we brought home with us in some beautiful bottles. We were treated to a couple of large complimentary G&Ts and a number of sample gins. I discovered a gin I’d never tasted before and have been converted from a non gin drinker to a lover of the stuff! Would definitely do this again!!

Great experience and I didn’t like gin before this but the products are great! Good pace between tour stages and plenty of time for tattings.

Wow! I had been given a Gin School experience for my Birthday. I went with my bestie. What a wonderful 3 hours we had. Welcomed by David & shown in and a welcome drink of a Gin & Tonic. We sat and had a welcome chat with others & a tour of Distillery and discussion of the Origins of Gin. We learnt a lot about Gin History. We then went into Gin School. David then joined by Jack. We had our little Distillery and given a list of ingrediants, graph re different Gin styles. We had lots of help, advice & great banter from Jack & David. It was really fun to start the Gin processing off & to choose, weigh our ingrediants and name our Gin, Mortie' s Gin. In between we had another Gim & Tonic to sample. We brought a cake half way through as we were going to taste 3 Gin's too all different. We were all by now quite lively! The last Gin & Tonic was your favourite to have out of the 3 sanpled. We then were advised of our Gin's % alcohol. a 73% then we had it blended. Afterwards we labelled and bottled our Gin which we really liked the flavour of Our Gin was 44.5%. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We all enjoyed, David & Jack made everyone at ease and we all had plenty of laughs too. Id highly recommend and suggest a good hearty brunch before! Thank you. We will raise a cheer with Mortie's Gin in 2 weeks.
Jus H — Google review
Received this as a gift, and it was the best experience! We were thoroughly entertained and educated about gin, got to taste LOTS (amazing to be greeted with a huge G&T waiting for you), and thoroughly enjoyed making our own gin. You are given plenty of advice on what to add depending on what you like, while enjoying a gin cocktail, and then another G&T of your choice, and then gin tastings! We hadn't realised we'd be drinking quite so much, so definitely recommend booking a taxi (we had to leave our car overnight). Hearing how the distillery started, and their passion as a small, almost entirely, family business, is inspiring. But overall this was just so much fun. Looking forward to buying some vouchers for friends.
Elaine H — Google review
I attended a 3 hour Gin making experience with my husband. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt it was one of the best activities we had done in years! Peter and Simon and the rest of the team were excellent. They were all really knowledgeable about their craft and were fantastic hosts. We learnt all about the history of gin followed by a very hands-on, fully guided session to produce our own unique gin. It was a really well organised, fun workshop with bonus of leaving with 2 bottles of our very own gin (1 x 50cl + 1 x 20cl). We had such a good time we are definitely going to recommend to all our gin-loving friends, and we are also going to book the cocktail masterclass and gin tasting cruise in the summer. Our experience was a Christmas gift - best gift ever!

Brilliant afternoon yesterday at Shakespeare Distillery Gin School 😃 Wonderful few hours, very interesting and very helpful friendly staff. Looking forward to trying my own gin I created in a few weeks once it’s fully ready to drink. My experience was a gift for my birthday last year and my daughter couldn’t have got me a better gift, definitely recommend it as a gift for any gin lover. Thanks to all the staff for making it such a great time!
Kerstine L — Google review
Such a good experience, interesting information about their distilling process and equipment. Lots of drinks included throughout the experience and extra drinks and snacks available to buy as well. Staff were fun and informative, the gin school itself was well planned out and it was made easy to distill and support with selecting botanicals as required. A great experience and I am sure we'll be back. Very good value for the current price as well. Thanks for a great time 🥳
