Art museum
Museums
MO.C.A, Montecatini Contemporary Art, is housed on the ground floor of the Municipal Palace in Montecatini Terme. The gallery features a priceless painting by Joan Miro called 'Woman Encircled by the Flight of a Bird.' Visitors can also enjoy the local lifestyle at Piazza del Popolo, which is home to quaint cafes and bars. While some find MO.C.A small and not to their taste, others appreciate its brief but pleasant display of Chini works.
The building is of historical importance + until May 4th, with free entrance, there is a VERY interesting portrait exhibition of the florentine photographer Carlo Cantini. The people portrayed have all played an important role in the artistic, cultural or political scene both in Florence, Italy and in some cases abroad. Artists like Vedova and Rauschenberg, actors like Vittorio Gasman all taken in a light and setting which highlights their personality. At a short distance a beautiful Thermal Park from which you can spot the old Montecatini on a hill . Unfortunately I only took a photo of this last.
P F — Google review
I entered the building and could see absolutely no signage for the exhibition so missed it. I did however walk around the building which is quite fantastic despite works being done on some of it at present. I walked in and out of rooms I’m not sure I should have been in. There was no staff or security at all.
Amy B — Google review
Small gallery at the town hall mainly showing chini works. Brief but pleasant.
Tracey K — Google review
(Translated by Google) The exhibition allows you to admire some truly remarkable works and the contrast between the modernity of the paintings and the style of the town hall that hosts it is very interesting from an artistic point of view. However, when we entered the entrance hall (under renovation), we were leaving thinking that it was closed because it was absolutely unclear which way you were supposed to enter. Despite the difficulty created by the works, it should be better reported because many visitors could risk missing it.

(Translated by Google) Visited today, an environment that takes you back to years gone by, the interior of the very beautiful Town Hall with frescoed ceilings and truly beautiful stained glass windows. The current exhibition is very interesting and concerns Pinocchio but then there is a large painting by Miro and that gives it an extra touch of importance. I advise you to consider the visit worth it. If you liked the review, leave a like👍 New Exhibition 15/05/22.

Perfect for the morning before lunch or before taking the funicular up to Montecatini Alto. There is currently a photographic exhibition of portraits of illustrious people. Let's say that, in the dormant and ancient Montecatini, a place that reminds you of being in 2023 and not in the distant 90s. (Translated by Google) Moca is rather small, located within the municipality of Montecatini Terme. I admit that I didn't like it much, probably because it wasn't the right exhibition for me. However, Mirò's painting is certainly fascinating (present all year round). P.s entry is totally free (Original) Il Moca è piuttosto piccolino, situato all'interno del municipio di Montecatini Terme. Spa
Terme Tettuccio is a renowned thermal spa in Montecatini, known for its historical significance and picturesque surroundings. The building, constructed between 1779-81 and renovated in 1928, boasts an impressive garden featuring various trees and ornate structures such as colonnades, grandstands, fountains, and flower beds. The entrance is adorned with colored glass panels and a bronze pool adds to the allure of the establishment.
Stunning lost-in-time neo Roman architecture with crumbling buildings. The baths have been sealed/covered up since the 1989s so no more terme/spa facilities unfortunately. You can visit the buildings however. 6 Euro entry fee per person to visit. Not a problem. But very much lacking in kindness. You can sample the therapeutic water if you are local or if the unfriendly lady at the desk likes you. If not you are out of luck. A couple of wealthy people in front of me got cups. But most people didn’t. —- The building, built to a design by the architect Gaspero Maria Paoletti between 1779-1781, was characterized by an ashlar portal of great scenographic effect. In 1916 the Florentine architect Ugo Giovannozzi presented a renovation project for the entire complex based on the concept of the Roman baths. It was completed in 1928.

Watched the opera there, on a night. Incredible building, almost like Bath in UK. The three singers were excellent, and it was packed out!
Timothy S — Google review
Very cool place we passed by on our walk into the center. Glad we stopped to check it out. $7 per person entry fee.
Simon T — Google review
Beautiful old spa! The building is amazing.. no longer in operation as a spa, but you can drink the spa water, wonder around and there is a cafe. Entrance fee, eur 6,-/person, worth it. Eur 7,- including the spa water, we choose not to. There is a decay to the premises sadly, but also pretty in it’s own way.. Recommend a visit! There are also sometimes events, could be worth visiting!
Maria J — Google review
Excellent bit of architecture in the city for soghtseeing, if you're here then definitely worth the visit. Can also visit during a rainy day, parking options plenty closeby. Note that he place closes in the afternoon at 13.00 and opens at 16.00 again. We checked the website before visiting which mentioned a full day opening for sightseeing, as we came at 12.30 we were surprised we had limited time to visit.
Xander B — Google review
Beautiful to wander around. Parts of the property are in disrepair, and it’s a little sad because you can see what it used to be. That being said, the architecture is stunning and I do still recommend paying the entrance fee. If I go back I will likely do the water drinking therapy, but it’s only at certain times (not while I happened to be there).

The Funicolare di Montecatini, also known as the Montecatini Funicular, offers a unique and enjoyable way to explore the city. This cable car system transports visitors from Montecatini Terme to Montecatini Alto, providing access to the historic village and stunning panoramic views of the area. The steep incline of 39.5% adds an exciting element to the experience.
Like a fairytale. Old coupe goes up and down every half an hour. On the hill there is a great view on Montecatini and a big number of caffes and restaurants. Very romantic and prestige.

Riding the funicolare to the top of the mountain is totally worth it!! While you are up there- explore the small medieval village! The view is fabulous! 👍❤️
Lonianne1 — Google review
Great experience—definitely recommend! The return ticket was €7 per person, and absolutely worth it. Montecatini Alto felt like stepping back in time. I absolutely loved it! 🥰
Teodora D — Google review
It was a fun, relaxing ride, you have plenty of information available on the spot regarding its history an elevation angles. And the view from Montecatini Alto is magnificent. The funicular program makes it hard to miss the experience (it is open until 24.00).
R S — Google review
The journey is gentle and slow enough to be able to enjoy the view. Staff were friendly and a return ticket is €7. We enjoyed our visit to Montecatini Alto, there are several small shops and a central square with restaurants, a bar, and Gelato shop. lots of outdoor seating and shade in a medieval village.
Anna B — Google review
If you're in Montecatini then you should visit Montecatini Alto using the Furnicular! This is the mountain Railcar that takes you up to the small town with big views! Trains run every 30mins all day and night (not overnight) and tickets cost €7.50
Sue G — Google review
This was a really nice experience. If your in this region of Italy, then you must try it
Jedaiah H — Google review
A lovely little ride up/down the mountain in a historic funicular car. The cost for a round-trip/return ticket is €7.50, and the cars run on the hour and half-hour until midnight (see the attached schedule). Walking up the Alto is quite a trek (I did it and was certainly out of breath by the top), so save yourself the trouble and take this!

Very well, nice park with good greenery and much of shadow
Der W — Google review
Tall trees, grass, birds, good for a stroll. The paths are in disrepair. Nothing to see; most historical landmarks are located on the outskirts of the park or are inaccessible due to being under restoration. Overall, needs some love and care.
Proxy U — Google review
Beautiful. This is the location of the old thermal baths. Take the time to look through the fences and locked gates to find the hidden gems. There is the baths that is open to the public which costs 6 euros but worth it. There is a cafe in the spa which was very reasonable. Various events take place here. Ensure you take a drink with you if you intend to spend some time here. Popular with the locals for dog walking but very clean, no dog mess and the main park is free. Highly recommend it if you have some time free.
Christopher R — Google review
Had a long nice walk here, fresh air, long nice trees.. alot of places to rest or enjoy the nature 🌸✨ great for picnics or reading i imagine
Eva S — Google review
Beautiful and lovely park in the Montecatini. Which is surrounded by a few ancient thermal baths. I loved the atmosphere, it's a nice place to walk and jog. The sunset view is stunning. Worth for a visit.
Seaw T — Google review
The place is beautiful, although it is not in the best condition and it is closed like a bathroom, but it is open for visitors. The ticket is 6 Eur. A beautiful place where you can see the power of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy . You have a wonderful tavern with a terrace and a view of a spacious, beautifully landscaped park. Personally, I liked the atmosphere. There you could only sense the power of the Habsburg Empire ; wherever you go in Europe you will see similar, magnificent buildings full of marble, mosaics and magnificent sculptures.

I had an excellent foot and leg massage by Valentina, perfect after days of walking in Florence. The massage room was beautiful, and the massage was professional and effective. I was able to get an appointment about 4 hours after I made the reservation.

Locked & closed down. I could stay 21 Days in Montecatini. But I left... It's creepy desolated empty town. Hotels are completely empty. Bankrupted by corruption. Also so the Terme's are completely destroyed and empty..... ... Streets close to the train station are full of homeless people (from Africa?) ...never Come back there again.....

DO NOT GO TO THIS SPA! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt unwelcome. The front staff was a young man who was clearly overwhelmed, stressed out, and not friendly. We were directed upstairs to change and led to a room for Turkish bath and sauna. The man in the string bikini made the place feel dirty in a 'am I going to get molested' kind of way and really the entire atmosphere was the same. It was just wet and felt dirty. The showers were cold, the sauna was old, broken, and falling apart... This place has so much potential and it's clear it's in a crisis!! I opted out right away, dressed, and went downstairs for a refund. My guy stayed, uncomfortably, and had a massage as well. He said it was more like a fingertip brushing than a massage. Just terrible. We are SO unimpressed, SO disappointed, and I, disgusted by this spa. It's time to close and lock the doors or find new ownership!! And we're STILL waiting on our refund... DO NOT GO HERE!

Great town with lots of places to eat, including the mountain town of Montecatini Alto with a great square for local shopping and dining with a great view of the valley. Fantastic luxurious hotel in great location in Montecatini Terme. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient making our week's stay very enjoyable. The room was beautiful and recently refurbished to a very high standard. The beds were so comfortable and huge enabling a good night's sleep. The choices at breakfast were very varied and as our stay was in September, we ate outside in the beautiful courtyard setting. Thanks to the staff for their great welcome.

The Hotel itself is an absolute pleasure, with authentic interiors and fantastic bathrooms. It also has a beautiful bigger restaurant, from which our group has been excluded on 3 breakfasts out of 4. The smaller restaurant offered noticeably lower quality, less diverse food selection, though service was excellent there too. Our room was changed right after arrival, due to a complaint from a rather aggressive mannered guest, so we first get a nice huge 3rd floor suite, than been relocated to a small, narrow room on the 1st floor. Cannot say, this pleased us either. Overall I recommend the Hotel, but be keen on the details of your stay, as you may be the only one to do so!

Beautiful traditional hotel, great location for touring Tuscany region. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed with good quality linens. The breakfast was plentiful with many food choices and taken in the grand ballroom. Particularly like the tasty cooked apples and poached pears along with the smoked salmon in addition to hot eggs and bacon. Reception staff were friendly, gave excellent information and recommendations for sightseeing and were responsive to all our requests. The restaurant staff were excellent, attentive and very professional, a refreshing experience nowadays. Didn't get an opportunity to use the spa during our short stay but facilities looked good. Would return and recommend to our friends Thank you

We had a wonderful visit to Montecatini, and loved staying in this grand old hotel. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the gardens of this property. The bathroom was the most spacious we had anywhere in Italy. We were greeted by all staff members very warmly, especially at breakfast by Luigi. Breakfast was delicious, and plentiful, served in the beautiful grand ballroom. The concierge was very helpful with daily suggestions, and arranged a winery tour for us that was exceptional. The bartender that served cocktails was a true master of his art. All service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and am looking forward to visiting again. I would never stay anywhere else in Montecatini! This was a great location for visiting Tuscany.

The location is very convenient & a very short walk to the city center & the train station. Our room was lovely & large as well as the bathroom. L'Imperiale Food & Cocktail Experience is a charming spot with friendly staff and delicious food. The antipasto dish is a must-try, followed by the flavorful pasta dishes like tortellini with creamy burrata center and beef mince tomato sauce. The wine selection is excellent, and the service is top-notch. Despite language barriers, the accommodating staff goes above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. Locals frequent this place, which speaks volumes about its quality.
Had a wonderful experience at L’Imperiale on 10/18. The servers were kind and attentive, and the food was top notch! Highly recommend the steak and grilled seafood. My father loved dining here so much that he wished we could stay in Montecatini Terme for another night, just so we could visit again!

I wanted to treat my friend to a nice meal for his birthday. But what a disappointment!!!! We had to wait over 25 minutes before someone came to ask if we wanted a drink. We both decided on a steak. My friend couldn’t eat his meal, the steak was full of gristle, it was tough and chewy. The staff especially the blond young lady was rude, she threw the menu on the table and turn her back on us, you could see she didn’t want to be there. I never experienced such a rude waitress in my life. She definitely needs some training in customer service. Such a terrible experience.

EDL thank you so much for your review ❤️thanks to you we have ordered steak on bone and it was absolutely amazing and delicious - worth every single cent! Pizza was very nice as well. The staff were kind and attentive 😊 Only one thing we were not very happy. After dinner we have asked about dessert menu and was only in Italian language.

Great offer of meat and seafood dishes as well as pizza and pasta. We had the Tuscan beef slices and the grilled octopus. Our son loved the pizza Ruffola. Very friendly service from everybody on a beautiful terrace. That's how you imagine a great dinner in Italy.

Delicious pasta, I ordered the tortellini which I found was very well balanced between a creamy buratta centre and a wonderful beef mince tomato sauce. It was extremely delicious and reasonably priced. The waiter offered useful information on wine which really helped! Thanks for a great dinner and a great time…

The restaurant has a wide selection of Italian cuisine, and there's even a gourmet food menu. There are 2 private bathrooms available, each with an adjustable shower head and handy hairdryer.
we stayed here for 3 nights last year while visiting Italy for the first time. room was spacious and clean and the staff very nice. the breakfast was also very good selection and fresh. very nice hotel. we are returning next month and will use the hotel restaurant this time as our young daughter who was with us will only eat chicken nuggets lol.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ercolini & Savi and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Montecatini. The location alone is worth five stars—situated right in the heart of town (also near the train station), everything I wanted to see and do was easily accessible. Crucially, despite being centrally located, the rooms offered quiet comfort. They were impeccably clean and felt very safe, giving me the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating from check-in to check-out. And you definitely won't leave hungry: the breakfast spread was delicious with plenty of options to choose from every morning. This hotel delivered exactly what I hoped for and provided a perfect base for our trip. Great value, great people, and great location!

The hotel is lovely! Being retired from the hospitality industry, I understand the workings of a property such as this. Two items: the hairdryers in the guest rooms need to be updated. And, the half screen in the tub/shower is modern, but I never liked them as water does splash onto the floor & if not careful can flood the room below.

Very mice hotel in the centre of town. Very good restaurant. The only complaint is the lack of wallsockets near the bed. And it is time to think about redecoration/uipdate of the rooms. It was a nice big clean room but it is time for some new furniture etc

Beautiful hotel with a smile on everyone's face from front desk to the bar, women who clean rooms and restaurant servers. Felt welcome and enjoyed everything about Hotel Ercolini e Savi and even the owner was walking around and mingling with travelers. Also close to train station going to Pizza and Florence. I highly recommend this hotel.

Overall was pleased. The airconditioning stopped working and we got bit by either (mosquito's or bed bugs) im hoping its the former giving the benefit of doubt. Slightly tired in parts but the room service was really good, cleaners making a great effort to tidy up. Location was excellent surrounded by good quality shops and restaurant's. Shower was hot too! They compensated on the broken air conditioning by giving my family a free breakfast so that was appreciated.

We definitely will comeback here again, everything is excellent, and we thank to the guy in the reception who’s helped us during check in time. My mood was ruined by other hotel because that was not what we expected, and we ran to hotel ercolini hoping they have available room for us. And yess they do have, even tho i ask if they can show us the room because i have trust issues, and the guy with his kindness and warm smile showed the room for us. We don’t need any more time we took the room. And we have pleasant stay! See you next time!

Member of a coach trip with 40 others so breakfast buffet somewhat chaotic. Felt pressured to finish meal by staff clearing plates before everyone had finished eating.

Very nice food rooms basic but acceptable staff are very friendly and approachable and speak good English. Only downside is it’s on a small road which coaches can’t go down on so if you have lots of luggage you may struggle. The negative feedback for this hotel is unjustified

So we went with Caledonian Travel September 16th to Sept 20th. There is the main hotel & then an annexed part which is where mine & my mum's room was. The room was very clean, cleaning service every day which impressed us (we even got our towels made into swans on our beds one time which was lovely) We had a good safe which is always welcomed. The only thing that bothered us was the pillows weren't plump enough, so we went to reception for one more pillow each & we were able to get another pillow each. It's only a minor issue but when you're not sleeping in your own bed, you need as much comfortableness (not sure that's even a word hahaha) as possible. The owner of the hotel was lovely. Friendly, helpful & informative. I also saw the lovely little dog there too, very sweet. I'm sure Caledonian Travel uses this hotel on the 'Taste of Italy' trip (7 days, board in France outbound & inbound) going to Florence, Rome & Pisa and I'd recommend both the holiday & the hotel.

I stayed here courtesy of Caledonian Travel and the hotel was amazing. The location is between the plaza and the alto; both are about a 15 minute walk away. The staff here are super friendly and welcoming. There’s always someone on the front desk if you have any problems. They also have a really cute dog that sits in reception later in the day! (I didn’t manage to catch the name of the dog, sadly) The owner is also amazing; recommended some great places to visit in Montecatini and thanks to him, my mother and I went to visit Montecatini Alto during the night! The food was amazing. In the morning, the breakfast was served buffet-style and had a wide range of options. The dinner was a sit down evening meal in which the food was served as courses. There was options to choose from on the menu they provided; you were given an appetiser, a main course, and a dessert. The rooms were impeccable and cleaned daily. I stayed in Room 51, just at the top of the first flight of stairs. They were very clean, everything was well stocked and you can control the aircon and heating. I know a lot of people from the coach have rated the hotel 1 star, yet these people also took the food during breakfast to make sandwiches for the return journey to the UK despite being told not to do so by both the coach company and the hotel staff.

Stayed here for three days and unfortunately me and my family had a poor experience. Firstly, the food is not very good and breakfast is limited. We had two evening meals included in our stay which did not include any water. When a member of our group tried to get a glass of water from the machine they switched it off! The only water available at dinner was bottles you needed to pay for. This however was not the worst of it. When departing we were mistaken for another person who had drinks charged to their room. This was despite the fact that our room number was different and the name on the bill was different. This we got no apology for. They insisted that we had bought a drink but we did not spend a penny yet we were shouted at and rudely spoken to. I understand a language barrier however they insisted we were different people even when we showed them our names and hotel rooms

My husband and I booked this trip through Gate1 travel. The only major issue we had- we had to open the window to cool down the room at night. It was very loud and noisy until after 230AM every night. We had to shut the window and the room got too hot to sleep. This trip was early April. The included breakfast was outstanding and the hotel was very clean. The location was great! Close to good restaurants and shopping as well as the train station-we hopped a train to Florence for the day.
Celeste R — Google review
We are currently staying at this hotel as part of a Gate 1 group tour. When we checked into our room around 3:00 p.m., we immediately discovered that both the internet and the air conditioning were not working. I reported this issue to the front desk four separate times. Each time, the receptionist assured me that the problem would be resolved. However, every time I returned to my room, neither the internet nor the AC was functioning. Eventually, the receptionist came to the room herself. I showed her firsthand that nothing was working. Her response was dismissive: she insisted that these issues had never occurred before, that it was not her fault, and that there was nothing she could do to help us. When I requested the manager’s contact information, she refused to provide it, saying she may or may not share it. This level of service is completely unacceptable. Guests should not be expected to endure a hot, uncomfortable room with no internet access, especially when staff make no effort to resolve the problem or escalate it to management. A good night’s rest under these conditions is impossible. I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel at all costs.
Eugene G — Google review
I hate to give this place a bad review. So let me preface this by saying if im rating by US standards, then this hotel is in grave need of an update. The rooms are small and dark, beds are almost on the floor, furniture is extremely worn and outdated, showers are only big enough to stand in and get wet. But maybe this is 5* for Italy because it's an old building in an older city and people are looking for that old world charm. Either way, everyone was pleasant, breakfast was always delicious, and the food at their restaurant is good. The biggest selling point is that you are in the middle of everything. FYI, if you stay there make sure you get your parking pass to include your check out date. If not then your pass will expire the night before check out, and paid parking starts at 8am. Yrs, they are out there handing out tickets at 8am. This should be a given especially since check out is 11am. The parking ticket is about $50 euros and about $65 euros after 5 days.

Went for dinner while in town. Drinks were lovely, however they served my dad, who is really allergic to salmon, the salmon starter. Despite us making it very clear to the TWO people who took our order that he wanted the swordfish. So if you value your father's life, maybe skip this one.

Hotel Parma e Oriente is an elegant 1920s property located in Montecatini Terme, offering upscale rooms and suites. The spacious and elegantly furnished rooms are equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, and en suite bathrooms.
We had a very peaceful and enjoyable two weeks on half board. Our room was in the Villa rather than the hotel. It was rather dated but very clean with ample hot water. The Villa has its own lounge area to relax in. We took a travel kettle and coffee sachets as the room does not have one as standard. The safe key deposit was 20Euros which was refunded on return. Very comfortable beds. The hotel is centrally located just off Via Verde, conveniently positioned for Terme Tettuccio, the Funicular to Alto and only 10-15 minutes walk to the two railway stations which give you access to Florence, Pistoia, Lucca and Pisa. Want a nice friendly cafe for coffee, wine, pastries or lunch… head for 54 Via Verde. You need to understand that Montecatini has many closed hotels and spas but retains its upmarket feel.

We were a little apprehensive about our stay here as could see it was dated and not the kind of place we would usually choose, but the room was clean and comfortable and we had a really stay here. The pool was nice, plenty of loungers and the bar was good. Breakfast was solid but hit and miss. Parking available just before hotel for 15€/night. Only one iron in the whole hotel and no filtered water available so spent a lot of small bottles at the bar. Quite a lot of noise in the morning from other guests/the restaurant/other rooms/plumbing but not noisy generally.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ We recently stayed at the hotel and overall had a pleasant experience, but there were a couple of hiccups worth mentioning. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was incredibly warm and welcoming — truly going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. It was clear she cared about our stay and did everything she could to assist us, which we really appreciated. However, one thing that caught us off guard was the parking situation. We were informed that parking was payable on-site, but the hotel only accepted cash. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any cash on me at the time, which meant I had to take a 20-minute walk to and from an ATM just to pay for parking. This was quite inconvenient, and it would have made the check-in process much smoother if this cash-only policy had been communicated beforehand. The other issue we encountered was with the night porter. We often like to unwind in the evenings with a bottle of wine back at the hotel, but it felt like asking the night porter for a drink was an imposition. His customer service left a lot to be desired — he rarely engaged with us in a friendly manner and, on several occasions, was quite sharp and even rude. This was disappointing, as it detracted from what was otherwise a comfortable stay. That said, these were the only real problems we faced. Aside from these points, everything else about the hotel and the staff was great. The rooms were comfortable, the facilities were good, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. With a little improvement in communication about parking and some customer service training for the night porter, this hotel could easily offer a five-star experience. We hope our feedback is helpful and that the hotel takes it on board to enhance future guests’ stays.

I would have given this hotel an overall five stars, but the food presentation wasn't the best I've encountered. Just seemed to be lacking something and shutting off of coffee machines etc was very time restrictive, i.e. everyone expected to vacate dining room at 10am or 9pm. (That said the staff were under pressure to clear and present tables for next meal session.)

Guests can unwind by the seasonal rooftop pool while soaking up breathtaking views of the picturesque Tuscan hills. The hotel’s prime location makes it easy to explore nearby attractions like the renowned thermal spas and local eateries within just a short stroll.
Had a lovely stay at the Hotel Da Vinci. The room (a superior double with balcony) was very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and, although we were staying on B & B basis, we ate dinner in the hotel twice. This is a set price of 29 Euros for 3 courses including bread and (side) salad. The food was delicious and excellent value. All staff were friendly and approachable - particularly the restaurant staff. The pool and sunbathing area is on the top of a nearby building, access to this is easy and the pool was a welcome respite from the heat! The train station is easily accessed from the hotel (less than 10 minutes walk) and good train connections to Florence, Lucca etc. - cheap trains!! There are plenty of good places to eat close by too. Within the town itself a visit to the thermal spa Tettucio is well worth the 6 euro entrance fee, as is the funicular up to the pretty (but no cooler!) Montecatini Alto.

Great for a budget stay in Italy! Rooms were very clean and our room was very modern with excellent air conditioning. Cleaned to a great standard every day, and towels refreshed etc. However, there are no clothes irons in the room or at reception, so bear this in mind if you think you may need one. We didn't stay for breakfast or dinner, so can't comment on that. Private car park at the hotel too which was 8 euro per night - cheaper than other parking and I thought it was reasonable for a secure car park for a hire car. Service was great and staff were helpful. Would stay again.

Overall it was nice, but it’s not a 4.5 star hotel. The rooms are ok- a bit outdated but I don’t mind that. The bathroom was mainly clean, but the shower could have been better (grout needed better clean and shower door a bit dirty/ stained. Bed was clean but a bit hard. Breakfast was nice with fresh honeycomb and bakes which was a nice touch. Area was ok but men were a bit odd with us. Near train station, but a while to get to Florence and other places. A lady at reception was lovely and helpful, but when we were leaving it was a guy that didn’t really know what he was doing and we were in a rush.

From the moment we arrived at the Grand Hotel Bellavista Palace, we were captivated by its grand elegance and impeccable style. The décor throughout the hotel is truly breathtaking — an exquisite blend of luxurious furnishings, tasteful color palettes, and beautiful accent details that exude classic charm and sophistication. Each morning, the breakfast exceeded all expectations. The buffet included a delightful assortment of fresh pastries, seasonal fruits, premium local cheeses, cold cuts, and a selection of hot items like eggs and pancakes. The quality of the coffee and fresh juices was exceptional — it consistently provided a delightful start to our day. The pool area felt like a private oasis amidst the hotel’s lush surroundings. The water was perfectly clear, the loungers were plush and plentiful, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Whether taking a refreshing morning dip or enjoying an afternoon lounge, it was the perfect spot to rest and rejuvenate. Hospitality was as refined as the ambiance — the staff was attentive, friendly, and always eager to assist with a warm, gracious smile. In short, the Grand Hotel Bellavista Palace offers a flawless combination of luxurious décor, superb breakfast, and an inviting pool setting. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Montecatini Terme for a truly memorable and relaxing experience. I can’t wait to return!

We arrived a lil bit after check in time, and waited 25mins at the reception desk before someone came to finally help us. One of our rooms was not ready and still dirty. They said they’re going clean it right away and 15min later it was „done.“ It’s hard to believe that 1 guy could disinfect at least the bathroom, change the bedsheets, the ‚blanket‘ which seemed like a couch blanket, vacuum etc. The rooms themselves were outdated, spiderwebs everywhere, lamps/furniture broken, wall outlets were falling off, flooring was cracked, our toilet was leaking and creating a puddle , not to mention the bad old smell in not only the room but the whole hotel. The terrace behind the rooms had old feces everywhere and was overall dirty, even old smoked cigarettes were in the ashtray and on the ground. Walking past the dining hall/spa, pool area, the hallway is not ventilating at all creating moisture and humid air which you could see on the windows. Moving on the first morning, as we sat down on the table some of the silverware was dirty and rusty. We proceeded to get some food, only to realize that the for example eggs and bacon were FRIDGE cold, not cooling off cold, it was literally cold, even tho they were on a ‚heater‘. There were options to get some ‚fresh‘ eggs and bacon which for a 5 star hotel you wouldn’t think of needing to pay for overpriced. After experiencing all of that we ended up both having breakfast at all, since the coffee was from a outdated Machine as well which was not drinkable. It seemed very understaffed, there was no bartender on New Year’s Eve. We had to ask the front staff personnel for help and he ended up giving us our drinks. The staff was somewhat nice, whenever we confronted them about the issues they were somewhat nice about it but they also kept saying that this was the style of the hotel. I don’t how being unsanitary is a style. I would NOT recommend this hotel at all, the only thing that was good about it is the location, that’s it. The free parking on the other side of the hotel is just a public parking for everybody.

An amazing and romantic hotel with a very friendly staff. The outside pool area is the best feature of the property with sun all day. It is the best place to relax. The food is really good and the breakfast is lovely, especially to be enjoyed outside. It’s the fourth year in a row that we have visited in the summer and certainly not the last

Great facilities, terrible and rude waitress at the dining room that ruined the good impression of the hotel.

Room was beautiful, but the staff that served breakfast were racist and rude to us and our group the entire 3 days we were there. They really favor Western Europeans, but show little to no hospitality to anyone outside that niche. It's quite disappointing and it ruined the experience.
Simona Z — Google review
nice rooms, every evening the whole hotel and everything around starts to stink of burnt wood and smoke so close your eyes if you have asthma it will be very difficult for you, it is not possible to open the window, the whole room will stink of smoke. I don't know why it is. it's a very bad experience, breakfast was identical all 10 days, I mean 200% the same, nothing has changed, it's hard and not pleasant. you are forced to eat because you are hungry and what you have has long been tired.

The rooms here are so spacious. We had 1 and a half bathrooms (that mean a room with a toilet and bath/shower and ine with just a toilet). The area is so beautiful, the hotel has a mineral bath (i believe it's called that). The food there was great as well as the best service we have had at hotels in Italy. Bravo Bellavista

This is probably one of the most beautiful hotels in the region if not the country, immersed in tranquil surroundings and beautiful views of the hill top castle town. The elegance of the by gone days of the Belle Époque period in Italy are well preserved in the beautiful features of the hotel and the wonderful rooms. I had a fantastic junior suite that came with two balconies offering two great vies. The large windows also had fantastic views. The bed was most comfortable and all items provided from towels to amenities were of the most high quality. The breakfast was exquisite especially when compared to Italian standards and it also comprised of small special unexpected items such as fresh fruit smoothies. The indoor pool too was a place of great relaxation. So was the out door pool in the well kept garden. Whilst such a place definitely must require great care and up keeping, and definitely some things can (or maybe cannot) be adjusted, I cannot point to anything that deserves mention and would definitely choose this hotel again when visiting the most charming spa town of Italy. A mention also to the staff who are most professional and non intrusive making this hotel a fine example of exceptional service and glamour.

Church
When exploring the charming village of Montecatini Alto, make sure to include a visit to the Chiesa di Santa Maria a Ripa. This remarkable church is part of an ancient monastic complex that dates back to the 16th century, showcasing stunning architecture and rich history. The well-preserved structure offers a glimpse into the past and complements your journey through this picturesque area filled with Baroque influences and other historical landmarks like the Church of Saints Jacopo and Filippo.
(Translated by Google) The church is well preserved and is part of the monastery. (Original) Църквата е добре запазена и е част от манастира.
Bistra K — Google review
(Translated by Google) The church is part of a larger Benedictine monastic complex, but can be visited separately. It is striking for its position, squeezed between the bulk of the monastery and the wall of the latter's garden. The layout is Romanesque, as is the staircase through which it is accessed. The gabled façade, solemn and austere, is enlivened by a single portal, a single squared window and a tympanum at the top. The interior is a Baroque-style renovation, with later, airy portions of frescoes, almost rococo in style, which are more suited to a private palace than a church. Here and there fragments of frescoes with saints survive, among which the oldest are those in the apse. The wooden organ is also very beautiful, surrounded by grates from which the cloistered nuns could attend mass. Entrance is free, but if you want advice, ring the bell at the nearby monastery, or call the numbers outside, because it is possible to visit the cloisters and go up behind the organ, which allows you to observe the church from the same perspective as the nuns in the 16th century.

Nestled in a region renowned for its therapeutic hot springs, Terme Rinfresco has been a cherished destination for centuries, with roots tracing back well before the 18th century. The current pavilion, designed by Ugo Giovannozzi in 1927, adds a modern touch to this historic site.
Terme Rinfresco. The first building was built on a design by Giuseppe Manetti in 1795 and was characterised by a loggia-terrazza. Of this survives the colonnade facade. The current building is due to Ugo Giovannozzi, who in 1927 designed a large pavilion. Characteristic is the mosaic of the paving of the square in front in which a large Florentine lily is represented.

(Translated by Google) Almost invisible to the inexperienced eyes of passers-by, it has an entrance similar to that of the nearby buildings and even the modern and renovated entrance does not suggest the beauty of the 18th century theatre, which can be admired beyond the red velvet curtain located after a few steps. One of the smallest Italian theaters, but a large theater as it presents itself: a living room with red velvet armchairs, illuminated by a beautiful central chandelier and lateral lights that highlight the graceful three tiers of boxes arranged in a beautiful oval . A theater with good acoustics where you can listen to incredibly well-produced concerts, operas and comedies. Teatro dei Resistenzati, named after the ancient family of Montecarlo.
