Breakfast restaurant
Mister D Dining is a vibrant and contemporary eatery that offers a diverse menu featuring breakfast, pasta, New Zealand entrees, and an impressive selection of wines. The restaurant is known for its unique donut creations and offers a blend of country and rock & roll vibes. With two chefs who have honed their skills in innovative cuisine over nearly two decades in Auckland, the dining experience at Mister D promises to be exceptional.
The food was really delicious, especially the bread—it was amazing! I will definitely come back. It would be even better if the service could be improved a bit
Elena — Google review
We had dinner at Mr D and everything looked the part. Really enjoyed the beetroot entree which was the star of the evening. Shared a few other entrees and mains, everything looked visually appealing. The flavour profile wasn’t quite up to expected standards but with a few slight tweaks it could be elevated. But overall, it was a great experience.
Anna K — Google review
If you're not rating this place 5 stars, that's a "you" problem. David our host was fantastic. His knowledge and suggestions were on point. Plus some great tips on other places for the rest of our journey (Poppy says Hi 😉) The food was exceptional, and wines to amaze (always trust the local insider knowledge, not the price tag)
Rob B — Google review
Beautiful vibe, amazing service. Everyone greets customers with a warm smile. The quality of food and coffee is amazing. Don't expect the regular donuts, they have a different concept and it is fun and yummy to try. Definitely a place to try, had we had another day in Napier, we would have tried a brinch or dinner.
Deepthi A — Google review
After humming and harring where to have brunch I settled with Mister D. I ordered the smashed avocado with feta etc...and with some extras, Bacon and Tomato. And had a doughnut with custard and coffee. Wow what amazing service and food! The meal and extras do add up, but so worth it. Best brunch and service I've ever had. Wish you were in Palmy nth.
Ingrid A — Google review
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast here. All of the meals were really tasty. I had the smashed avo and added a perfectly cooked poached egg, it was delicious! Service was incredible, everyone looked busy but were super attentive. Love to see such a mixed aged group of staff doing such a good job. Having regrets that I didn't try a doughnut!
Amy — Google review
Excellently prepared and conceived dishes make this unassuming restaurant one of Napier’s best. Great care had been taken to organise the setting, including 2 guitars in the wall which deserved to be played. We had the Coromandel Oysters; Duck Risotto, nicely cooked duck slices presented on a mound of Risotto rice, cooked just right; lamb rack (not the bones, just the meat), house salad, really nice potato gratin, and a delicious vanilla custard dessert that defies description, a bit like a dismantled millefuille! Wines were well matched by the, rather diffident, waiter. We’d booked a table, which turned out to be unnecessary as there were very few customers - this being a Wednesday night. This detracted from the atmosphere, but meant that we could talk quietly! We would definitely return!
Eric M — Google review
Mister D in Napier is a must-visit! The atmosphere is lively and fun, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a night out. The menu is creative and delicious, with something for everyone. And of course, you can't leave without trying their famous doughnuts—they're absolutely divine! The service is friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. Highly recommend Mister D for its great food, unique atmosphere, and those irresistible doughnuts!"

Seafood restaurant
Bistro
Hunger Monger Seafood is a top destination in Napier, offering an impressive array of fresh seafood dishes that highlight the abundance of local kai moana. From delectable sashimi and oysters to crab, scallops, squid, and expertly prepared fish, this restaurant is a haven for seafood enthusiasts. Whether you choose to dine in and savor their flavorful menu or opt for a takeaway meal to enjoy by the nearby waterfront, Hunger Monger promises an exceptional culinary experience.
Perfect location to start with Oysters and Sashimi. Really high quality seafood and a great location to eat fish. The only strange thing was that the waitress had no clue about the wine.
Gerald S — Google review
This restaurant is a fantastic choice for seafood lovers. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this dining experience. It's a must-try if you're in the area. Portion is decent but nothing too crazy.
Philip W — Google review
Just fine. Some dishes were great (grilled fish, marinated fish, KF Sea) and some fell flat (scallops, prawns) while others were just okay (crayfish pasta, calamari). The atmosphere is nice and the service, although pleasant, is very slow and/or non-existent. You'll be lucky to get more than one drink as they never really stop by the tables at all except to clear dishes. They don't replace cutlery even if they've taken yours so you're often left waiting to eat. Again, takes forever so things get cold. They also don't fire courses at a reasonable pace (they wait for you to completely finish, sit there waiting for 5-10 minutes, clear your plates, then asking if you're ready for the next course). Not sure if it's because they don't tip in NZ but the service is just very apathetic compared to Europe or North America. Very slow and awkward and not personable or hospitable. Personally, I would only go back for a quick round of snacks and/or a drink while enjoying the views, definitely not a full meal.
Cory C — Google review
We ordered various smalls to try lot of different items. They all were very tasty and didn’t have to wait long for it to be served. Friendly customer service. Bit expensive for portion size but worth a try.

Coffee shop
Six Sisters Coffee House is a charming family-owned coffee spot located on marine parade, offering unobstructed views of the water. The vintage decor and welcoming atmosphere provide the perfect setting to enjoy their carefully crafted brews. The history behind the name adds an extra layer of charm to this gem, making it a must-visit for both locals and visitors.
Busy for a cold winter morning, with space inside, however we opted for takeaway. Coffee was really nice, however I now regret picking an americano because I feel like I didn’t do the coffee justice by watering it down so much! Great vibe and awesome location, staff are friendly and the sort of people you would expect to run a cool coffee spot like this!
Trentyz — Google review
Fantastic coffee, Great flavour. Local sourdough bread was light and fluffy, amazing taste. Recommend either the tomato or avocado.
Vasos A — Google review
We ordered one tomato toast and one egg and bacon toast. We waited 30 minutes to be served. The tomato toast was a single basic toast with a bit of cream cheese and 3 slices of tomato : it costed 12 dollars. Ridiculous. The other toast was a bit more consequent. However the poached eggs were both much too cooked. The food was really disappointed but the place and the view really nice. Definitely a tourist place.
Juliette D — Google review
Awesome coffee and service. Really great little spot on the waterfront. The legends who work here really have a passion for the business and make you feel really welcome. The ambiance is relaxed but with a touch of spice so you could stick around for a while having lunch and a hot drink. Definitely come through here if you're in town.

Cafe
Crazy Good, located in the heart of Napier, is a popular cafe known for its delectable baked goods and exceptional barista-made coffee. The cafe's standout dish is the passion fruit tart, which features a delightful combination of tangy zest and creamy filling encased in flaky pastry.
A lovely relaxed and friendly place to visit and have consistently good quality coffee. 'Take the Cake' plum flan was DELICIOUS accompaniment to the coffee.
Anna S — Google review
Went there for breakfast. The service was great big smiles on their faces as they greeted us. However the pastries were meh. They didn’t really have a heater or a toaster when they display the pastries then give it to us making it cold. The chocolate danish was half chocolate and half nothing which made it half good and half slightly bland.
TheKidfoodie — Google review
Nice little cafe in Napier, pretty close to the shore in the hip area of town. On a sunny day, this place is pumping... Good coffees, and not bad hot chocolate (mine).
Stephen M — Google review
Nice pastries and crazy good firsthand coffee. Seems the kind of place that you would find in Italy for a cuppa and walk the dogs and meet a local for a chat.

Lovely greetings by friendly staff. A place to wait if you don't intend to sit at one of their tables in the sunshine but best of all fab coffee and scummy pastisere! Thanks team at Crazy Good.

Cafe
Adoro Cafe in Napier is a popular spot known for its special blend of coffee and bustling atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of options, from hearty breakfast dishes to delicious desserts like brownies and carrot cake. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a welcoming place to enjoy a meal or high tea. While the service may have room for improvement, the overall experience is delightful, with generous portions and accommodating options for dietary restrictions.
Amazing cafe with the most beautiful high tea experience for Mother’s Day!! You guys went above and beyond not just with the taste and quality of everything & the presentation of the food & cafe, but every staff member who approached us was so helpful & friendly to my family. I’ll definitely be coming back but I honestly don’t know why I haven’t been here before! Such a wide menu with delicious options and yummy coffee. I recommend the soup of the day because it’s cheap, really filling and exactly what one needs during these cold months lol.

This place was good overall. They served hot coffee in a handleless glass cup, which was hard to drink from until a lovely waitress provided a napkin. The French toast was good but too sweet with the jam and syrup. Prices were a bit high. Sorry for the bad photo.
Joel M — Google review
Amazing place lovely food and great coffee all the staff were very friendly and nice they were very genuine and quick Special mention Manish on barista who was constantly brewing the best coffee and was very focused on his work . Strongly recommend this place
ANIKET D — Google review
Highly disappointed. Food was not up to standard. My wife's croque monsieur was soggy and rubbery as though it was heated in microwave. Also missing ingredients. Food did not come out all at once. I was waiting while my wife was served. Dishes were not clean when served. As example milk jug We have been here twice but will not return. Not sure what is happening with this establishment.
Jon W — Google review
Very industrial-looking which makes it appear a bit “cold” but food is good and so is the coffee. Smashed avocado and Eggs Benedict both available as a gluten free option and proportions were huge!
Chrissy — Google review
Very solid cafe food and coffee. Would go again. Eggs and a side of bacon 🥓 😋 The bread was really good too
Russell G — Google review
We are on our way to Taupo and stopped by the cafe for breakfast. We had coffee, blueberry muffins, a toasted bacon and egg sandwich, a chicken and spinach sandwich, and cheese scones. The food was fairly delectable. However, we felt that the toasted sandwich at $16 was quite expensive. The service provided by the wait staff was good.
Rudy L — Google review
Nice atmosphere, friendly people. Very good flat white coffee with amazing latte art. Almond croissant and ginger slice were delicious. On our 3day visit to Napier we went here twice. If we ever return to Napier we will definitely visit again.

Diner
The Barong Restaurant Indonesia offers a captivating blend of Asian and Dutch influences, reflecting its origins in late European colonialism. The interior is distinctly Indonesian, providing a stark contrast to the pastel hues outside. The highlight of the restaurant is the Rijsttafel, featuring numerous small plates resembling tapas. Guests praise the authentic taste and generous portions at fair prices, with some even feeling they received more than expected. The personal and impeccable customer service adds to the overall experience.
The Indonesian decor at this restaurant was very authentic. The beef rendang and the jackfruit rendang were simply splendid. The vegan mee goreng was cooked very well and brought back the flavours of Indonesia. The staff were very welcoming and genuine.
SBS — Google review
We were so happy to find an Indonesian restaurant in Napier, and it didn't disappoint. We had the Rijsttafel (an Indonesian elaborate meal consists of many side dishes served in small portions, accompanied by rice). Everything was very good, especially the beef rendang , lamb semur, gado-gado and corn fritter. The service was excellent. They even gave us free krupuk (cracker) and pandan drink.
Fiefie N — Google review
The Barong Indonesia Restaurant claims to be a culinary adventure, and it’s not wrong! Our party of four chose the Rusttafel supreme banquet so we could try the variety of dishes, and we were truly delighted. What a taste sensation!
It’s hard to recommend any one dish, as they were all delicious.
Two of our party required gluten-free food, and they were more than happy to accommodate, substituting some dishes. Great atmosphere, an eclectic range of gorgeous Indonesian items in the decor and exceptional service. Highly recommend visiting here. Prices are great too.
Collette F — Google review
A lovely restaurant that takes one to the heart of Indonesian cuisine. The hostess was so polite and welcoming and advised rightly to try Rijsttafel. The spinach soup was really appetising and the beef rendang, lamb semur and chicken satay were all beautifully cooked and full of flavour and taste. Collection of mild to hot sauces will satisfy any taste too. Really glad that I tried this place and will be back many times.
Qazi A — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. We loved the decor, service was stellar, and the food was so authentic and so delicious!!! What a find in Napier. We had a lovely time! We recommend ordering their Rijsttafel, as the sampler gives you a broad range of their dishes and is the perfect amount of food.

Discovering the culinary wonders of Indonesian cuisine took on a new dimension at 'Restaurant Indonesia' in Napier, nestled by the beach. Opting for the main course was an adventure in itself, with a tantalizing array of 14 different dish samples served alongside aromatic rice. For someone unfamiliar with Indonesian flavors, it was a captivating journey through a diverse and delicious palette. The staff at 'Restaurant Indonesia' in Napier exemplified hospitality at its finest. Their warmth and friendliness enhanced the overall experience, making it not just a meal but a memorable encounter. Service was prompt, with each dish arriving fresh and bursting with authentic flavors. To cap off the experience, I indulged in a coconut dessert that was nothing short of amazing. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and exceptionally fresh. This delightful treat was a fitting conclusion to an already exceptional meal. Against the backdrop of the beach, 'Restaurant Indonesia' offers a unique and delightful blend of exquisite cuisine and coastal ambiance. From the first bite to the last, the culinary voyage at this gem in Napier was truly unforgettable. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to explore more of the culinary treasures that 'Restaurant Indonesia' has to offer.

Great food, quality customer service and affordability all in one. We never regretted coming to this place after our travel from Wellington to Napier. Indeed, our quick stay was pleasant and awesome. Amazing ambience. You’ll learn Indonesian culture and other countries. You feel good about the treatment of the owner. She was on top of everything! Highly recommended when you are in Napier. 👍

Awesome Indon food in NZ! My best meal yet! We visited the resto on our first day at Napier (3A2C) and had the Ultimate Rijsttafel and the seafood one, as well as a nasi goreng and an entrée (Soto Ayam). Every dish was impressive with the level of spices (it’s the fragrance of the herbs and spices added, not so much of spicy hot). Kudos to the owners for such effort and service!

Glad we found this delectable cafe before we left town. Out of everywhere we visited this week this one's was the best. Coffee was delicious , eggs Benedict with salmon and the big breakfast. Staff were attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Loved bring by the seaside and how modern this cafe is. Definitely recommend a visit. My sidekick said the gluten free bread was the best he’s ever tasted. It’s made on site and looks delicious!

Seen the advert on Facebook and place looked beautiful. We went for dinner, walked in and thought it was a café. Not much indoor seating. All day menu isn't an all day and is more of a breakfast and lunch menu. Food is priced quite high for what you get portion wise. KFC chicken are very thin and not much flavour is sauces. Dumplings were the best thing we ordered.

I would like to thank Roger. He gives my whole family the best of the best wine tasting experience. I have been Church Road,3 /4 times. in the past experience, It was too many visitors and hard to get a quality time to learn wine, to know about Church Road. Thank you , Roger. He is passionate to wine and share the best of his knowledge with us. FYI , we booked a lunch time and got an excellent wine tasting before lunch. We tried the $45 & $35 wine tasting. The $45 is the value for money and best value to try all 5 $100 worth wine... 300% recommended.

A friend and I spent a lovely afternoon at Church Road Winery. We had lunch which was delicious, first sharing a cheese board and then opting for the pork belly and the tortellini as our mains while sharing a bottle of the Gwen rose which was very nice. Dessert was an affogato and a chocolate brulee (a must order) Danielle was our server and she was very attentive, answered all our questions easily and was very friendly. After lunch we grabbed another bottle of Gwen rose and headed out to the expansive lawn to finish the day. All the staff we came across were always so friendly and willing to help, when we enquired about the cost of a Gwen tote bag the lady who was asked (it was her first day and we forgot to ask her name) went above and beyond to find out the answer for us. Definitely recommend a visit to Church Road Winery

Great Food, But the Service Ruined It We came today for a tasting and some food — unfortunately, it was a real disappointment. The setting is stunning, both the gardens and the cellar door interior are beautiful. But from the moment we arrived, confusion began: no signage, multiple counters, and no clear direction. After waiting, we were told by a staff member, that he was too busy to do a tasting, despite the venue being only a third full. We were also told to hurry if we wanted food, as the kitchen was closing — before 3:00pm, even though the cellar door closes at 4:30pm. At the food counter, the welcome felt more like an inconvenience. We were rushed, given no explanations about the menus, and then served food without plates, cutlery, or napkins. After fetching our own, the waitress (who was kind) arrived with napkins just as a gust of wind knocked over a glass of wine onto our platter. No one offered help or even asked if we wanted to replace the glass. The food itself was excellent — beautifully made and full of flavour — and the wine was very good. But the service was among the worst I’ve experienced in 16 years as a chef, including three years working in a New Zealand winery. Even basic hospitality standards were missing. I came with fond memories of Church Road wines, but after this experience, I won’t be returning or purchasing their wine again. A real shame — it could easily be one of New Zealand’s best wineries with better service.

We started with an Inspired by the bay Tasting which Cherise looked after us for. She was very friendly and informative about the wines which made it a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. The wines themselves were absolutely delicious and for us our favourite was the syrah. After the wine tasting we ate in the restaurant which was beautiful. The tables were carefully set out amongst barrels and it gave it a very special feel. Debs looked after us for our meal and she couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We had the beef cheeks with a nice bottle of syrah and it was delicious. After we took our wine outside and sat and enjoyed the grounds which were stunning. Every member of staff we interacted with were all excellent and this is certainly somewhere we would highly recommend

Do yourself a favor and eat here while in Napier! The food is amazing. Flavorful. Portions are great. And the staff is so sweet. The bathrooms have super funny messages. Love this place!!

One of the best eating places I've ever visited. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. Simple little restaurant with quirky decorations, the atmosphere just made us feel at home. The staff were so friendly, we wouldn't hesitate to come back here next time we're in Napier, and have recommended it to friends and family. EDIT: we've returned here several times over the years and the food and the staff do not disappoint.

Foods are pretty authentic Malaysian. It's nice to have a nice Asian meal while travelling outtown. Staffs were attentive and they're proactive and sensitive with your needs. It's located in the busiest area of the whole Napier city so it was hard to find street parking around. (especially when we went on a Sunday and all street parking was free and with no time limit)

This has become our go-to “mystery visit” restaurant every time we’re in Napier! We loved it so much that we came twice in two days. My husband absolutely adores their food and service, and he insisted on celebrating his birthday dinner here. The lovely and super friendly owner even treated us to delicious durian ice cream and fried banana fritters. Highly recommended!

Has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. As well as customising for other dietary requirements. The food was fresh and varied. All tasty. The vegetarian wonton (shiitake) was delicious! Lots of yummy drinks as well. Entrance is wheelchair accessible The staff are helpful and it’s a warm friendly atmosphere

Loved the Assam Fish dish at FHL. My dining partner enjoyed the Beef Rendang. Friendly, attentive service. Reasonable prices. Good wine. First in the restaurant; by the time we left most of the tables were occupied (always a good sign). Recommended.

My partner and I were very impressed with our dinner. Our lamb and beef was very tasty and so were our dumplings and chicken satay skewers for our starters. Our waitress was very efficient and always had a smile. I am very happy to recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food. Great find for a foodie. Unassuming from the outside but the food is where the effort is. We could taste Malaysian cuisine without the long flight and the service was excellent. Very accommodating if we had requests.

Fabulous cafe in Central Napier This became our favourite cafe in our four night stay in fabulous Napier. Great coffee, fabulous cakes and a super yummy breakfast were all drunk or eaten and were easily amongst the best we have had in New Zealand. Staff were smiley and helpful!

I stopped here for a late lunch and it was still pretty busy but with ample tables inside and out. Service was quick and the food excellent. I had an iced peach tea and a toasted corned beef, halloumi and kimchi sandwich and my goodness was it delicious.

I have eaten egg sandwiches, cabinet caesar salad, hot chocolate and the pasta. They all tasted amazing! The staff are very friendly. So great atmosphere.

Honestly a restaurant or cafe that serves food this good makes you realise how average most cafe's are. We had the smashed avo with extra bacon and the smoked fish with rosti, eggs and hollandaise.... Superb! The portions are generous and the food well designed and executed with quality ingredients and care. The coffee was perfect and tge service exceptional. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

Top-notch service. Excellent selection and quality, well-presented, properly hot and melted cheese etc. Not a cheap option but a very good option… even the Oaty Caramel Slice was the best it could ever be (and $11). Nice cafe ambience, cosy with the artworks

Some really great vege options - love their samosas and this scrambled tofu with parsnip rosti was next level. Great coffee, cakes and friendly staff too.

BEST FOOD, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE EVER! I went for the first time 2 weeks ago and have been back twice already. Their burgers are big, full and tasty all for a reasonable price. And they come with chips! Which is becoming a rare thing 😒 All workers seem chill, fun and super attentive. We sat down and withing minutes they had brought us sparkling water to start us of. The cabinet food looks beautiful, I had their chicken and cranberry panini and it was to die for. It was so filling I had to get a doggie bag and ate it for lunch the next day. Everyone I've taken there had lived it! They're often busy at all times of the day, serving coffee, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, sweets. They have it all. They even have a self service till where you can order drinks and cabinet food to keep ordering quick and smooth. I will 100% going back 👏

Good is absolutely delicious and comes in big portions which makes it work the price, the customer service is top notch and the atmosphere of this place is also really good. The shortbread cookies as well as the other baked goods that they had should definitely be in your list of things to try. Thank you for your lovely service Kamal.

Absolutely wonderful lunch. I had the creamy mushrooms and my lunch companion had the corn fritter stack. The mushrooms were beautifully cooked with a huge portion of bacon, perfectly toasted bread and a poached egg which was sublime. The portions were huge and well worth the money. If you’re in Napier or Ahuriri, seek out this gem. You won’t be disappointed.

1st time here and definitely will be back. Finally found someone who knows how to cook bacon properly in Napier. Gorgeous poached egg breakfast for two with coffee this morning would highly recommend but beware of the tempting array of scrumptious baking in the cabinet hubby had to be restrained but I took a wee slice for him home

Stopped by for brunch at this cafe in Napier. The cafe was busy which is a good sign. The service was fast & friendly, and the food was very good including both sweet & savoury cabinet options for gluten free. A menu is available but we bought food from the cabinet, so can't comment on that except to say that the soup seemed popular as they sold out of both options.

The market also features live music and activities for kids, making it an enjoyable day out for everyone.
Colorful and bustling market. Made me so happy just to be strolling around. There were lots of vegetables, fruits, snacks, and local produce. What a great way to spend my Saturday morning!

So enjoy wandering in on a Saturday morning, enjoying the beautiful Clive Square atmosphere. Great spot for a crepe n coffee for breakfast. And to pick up bread, veggies and pastries
Vicki B — Google review
It was light showers as we got to the market. Both sides of the street along the park had market stalls. As we were travelling onto Wellington we could not buy any fresh produces or perishables, even if these were looking so good and fresh at the stalls. We did decide to buy from the bakery stall as we could eat these along the way. Definitely would come back and with more time to stay.
Patrick Z — Google review
Visiting Napier for few days, stopped in here to kill some time. Market very small, just the normal coffee, breads/savouries, bacon sammies, fruit/veg, wooden chopping boards & flowers. Locals very friendly. Only negative the coffee truck makes horrible coffee and extremely hot. So if you do decide to buy from here be sure to ask for 2 cups so you can at least hold your distasteful cup of coffee.
David L — Google review
Saturday mornings are beautiful here, come check it out 🙂
Abbii A — Google review
I mean the market itself is small and not much exposer for the marketeers online. You're not really sure if everyone is going to be there or not. When you have visitors from out of town, you take them there and your market is slightly empty then that's sad for everyone. They need more exposure and more stalls to make it a good market.

Fantastic atmosphere and fabulous fresh produce. I was especially impressed with the herbs & flower plants for sale. A lovely spot on the quay for our morning breakfast! Our party of three enjoyed a lemon coconut muffin with hot chocolate, the Hash Stack plate with a strawberry smoothie, and a bacon Eggs Benedict with a bottle of Homegrown raw orange juice out of the fridge. The menu fare and bakery case all looked so tempting. We are beyond pleased with our meal! The gent behind the counter, very friendly and accommodating. Hui T — Google review
The staff were super friendly and flexible. The food was below average. The coffee was average. Toilet was a little hard to find. Cabinet food was pretty empty when I visited, tho this could be because it was a holiday. The aesthetic and vibe is lacking. Eggs on toast were very plain and on plain supermarket sliced bread which I'm not used to at cafes. The wedges were mostly fine but the bigger ones were undercooked. The panini was fine. The iced coffee was a frap instead of an iced drink, tasted good.

The lady that served us was pretty average... not polite, after ordering 2 flat whites we returned 1 as it was a cappuccino.... after seeing Bridget and her workmate Cara(I'm sure) looking and swearing in our direction we were given exactly the same rubbish version of a flat white(cappuccino) we left it at that. I ordered the big breakfast, eggs are well over cooked. Now I have eaten here before and it was amazing with excellent service. All the staff are different by the looks

I hate to moan but sometimes you have to . My wife ordered a bowl of chips today. $12. Poor value for money. Not many chips in the bowl for that price. The chips were nice though.
FootlooseMusic — Google review
Didn't clean a single table the entire time we were there. No clean tables available so we sat at one that just had a few plates/cups left. After 2 staff walked back from delivering coffees empty handed we moved the dishes to a neighboring table. Of the tables that did get cleared none were cleaned. Baby chair looked grubby too. And no, it wasn't a short staff thing because there were 2 girls busy chatting doing nothing behind the counter. Older couple had grabbed water glasses and I had to let them know one of the glasses was grubby as they didn't see. Was asked if I wanted chips or salad with my bagel, only to see I was charged an extra $12.50 for the chips I said yes to, when they made it seem lile it was a choice of side. Food was delicious. Shame about the cleanliness because if it's like that on the customer side I'd hate to think what the kitchen was like. Won't be returning
Millicent O — Google review
Today at lunch time my husband ordered french toast. The presentation and quality of what was on the plate was disgusting. It had all black burnt peices all over the toast, bacon and the banana. I always beeived clean utensils were required for each individual order. Or if using a hot grill you clean all residue between orders.. Was really not impressed this visit as usually it has always been acceptable. Service at the counter was good.
Yvonne M — Google review
Too much hollandaise sauce - recommend asking for it on the side. Coffee was not good. There were lots of staff - so service today was fast. Although need to work on communication skills, like listening to the customers requests and advise expectations. Just a commercial chain cafe attached to Mitre10 so lacks atmosphere - does look over the garden section.

Easily the best chocolates one can have. Smooth, creamy with perfect balance. Very well made and cabinets are presented beautifully. The pantry has an amazing choice of produce crafted on site. It was a joy to visit and sample their products.

Expensive chocolates, but they are hand made and every flavour you could think of, just don't expect market prices. 6 chocolates cost nearly $20 and just in a paper bag. They do have gift boxes and gift wrapping there. Cup of signature "hot" chocolate was good, but served cold. I asked them to heat for me and was much nicer. $7 for a piccolo cup which I thought was fair considering it eas literally melted chocolate 🫕 🍫 😋 pictured.

Silky Oak Chocolate museum & café is an absolute must if you’re anywhere near the area. The museum lays out the history of chocolate from the use of cocoa beans as currency in Aztec culture all the way up to modern day international chocolate making. The displays are well-maintained and interesting to look at, as well as completely unique to anything else in other museums we’ve visited. There’s even a little theatre playing vintage chocolate ads that’s fun to see! The staff are wonderful and the cafe is also really lovely with a nice selection of food and drinks (including a hot chocolate made with silky oaks very own chocolate!). We got a few chocolates from the shop on the way out and have to say the salted caramel bark is particularly tasty!

We recently had a delightful time while in Napier when we stopped for a visit at the Silky Oak Chocolate cafe. We initially stopped for a few chocolate treats and gifts while travelling but were pleasantly surprised by the amazing food we had at the cafe on site. We both had a bacon egg bene (as that is the go to for us) which was absolutely beautiful and the cherry tomatoes were a great addition to the meal! The coffee was also amazing as well as the desserts we picked to accompany our long black brews. The staff also helped to make the experience! We had a great time meeting Jean in the cafe, the ladies in the pantry and Sue in the chocolate shop were all stars! We loved our visit to Silky Oak and the ladies made it even more special with their knowledge and hospitality. Looking forward to going back to the Silky Oak when next we are down from Auckland!

Wow! Great locally made chocolate alternative to Bennetts and Makana. Di was so helpful in identifying the dark chocolate options. Sadly, dark chocolate and salt as a combo was unavailable. I purchased two 70% dark chocolate bars (48 g - $7.60/ea). Continuing trend of chocolate being expensive in NZ. I also visited the Pantry where I bought rhubarb gelato. Had to choose over all-time favorite raspberry chocolate chip. Also had a lovely convo with the woman working in the gift shop. Learned all about her grandmother who lives in Ottawa. Be assured the staff are customer focused and personable!

Food was delicious and fast to come out to us, although the cashier was new and let us know she was training she was very friendly and efficient.
Jordyn M — Google review
We stopped in for lunch with our kids and probably should have moved on. First, the nearest toilet is two blocks away. When kids tell you they need a toilet, you generally don't have time for walking. Second, the kids food arrived scalding hot. Luckily, we always check before letting them at a plate. The adult food was nice enough. All of our meals looked great, including perfectly poached eggs. However, I found my salmon bagel to be annoying as I had to deconstruct it to spread the cream cheese and reconstruct it again. I would have preferred it to either be DIY presentation or be opinionated and ready to eat. Finally, the smoothies were disappointing. I'm not sure if there was a mistake in the order, but the banana smoothie seemed to lack fruit and were very milky. Did we get milkshakes by accident?

Staff is friendly, but the environment is not that great and the espresso I had was only so-so. stopped there because I've had the all press espresso before and liked it a lot, not sure why it didn't turn out that good this time ...

Steak, cheese and bacon pie amazing! One of the best pies I've had in a very long time! Also a great cafe with a wide selection of food options.

Great breakfast, super location was hit and miss with some cafes over Art Deco weekend but this was excellent, looked after our coelic person, large menu range, thank you

Step into The Urban Winery, located in the historic National Tobacco Company building in Napiers docklands precinct, and experience a unique blend of art deco architecture and expertly crafted wine. This trendy spot offers a laid-back atmosphere where you can savor Tony Bish wines and indulge in delectable platters. The cellar door showcases innovative concrete and wooden egg-shaped tanks used by winemaker Tony Bish to craft exceptional chardonnay.
Walking into this place was like stepping into a grand haven! The soaring ceilings and inviting furniture create a warm, cozy atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The lovely lady behind the bar was not only incredibly helpful but also had a delightful down-to-earth charm that added to the experience. Now, let’s talk about the food—it was absolutely divine! We indulged in the scallops paired with black pudding and prosciutto, savored the succulent pork belly, and delighted in the perfectly cooked octopus. Each dish was a masterpiece, with presentation that was as exquisite as the incredible flavors. Honestly, it’s the best meal I’ve had in ages! I can't recommend this place enough—every bite is a celebration of taste! Yum!

Whether you’re a Chardonnay fan or not this is a MUST when in Napier. A great selection of wines and beverages on their list, and the food menu is fantastic. The dumplings were a standout, and we had to order a second serve. For the Chardonistas, all of Tony Bish’ wines are available by the glass. I had the Zen and it was delicious. Had to pick up a dozen Fat & Sassy while there too… Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Great spot. A lovely selection of wines and gyms. Comfortable atmosphere. Ending up buying too much wine to take away- but that’s not too much of a bad thing is it? Would definitely visit again. Is in a great Art Deco building - shame there are no original Features still inside as that would have just added to the experience

A little gem to wine and snack with friends. The tasting platter and the Tony Bish wines are wonderful and the innovation of making wine in the egg shaped barrel made from concrete and oak is such an interesting story.

Great service from Juliette and incredible prices. 4*wines and a beef steak dinner for $63 (happy hour) plus wifi and live entertainment with a guitarist singing 90s songs. Perfect!

Had not planned to stop here, but glad we did! An interesting and changing list of beers, along with a large and varied selection of wine. Staff are charming and knowledgeable. This is a lovely, charming venue and I highly recommend it!

Great night at Urban Winery. Amazing performance by HB Jazz Club Big Band, great food and wine, although they ran out of the Prosecco.
Kristin H — Google review
I really enjoyed my Tony Bish tasting experience. The Bish Chardonnay’s are outstanding and the view through the glass into the barrel room is fantastic. The grass and beanbags outside the front door ensure it’s a relaxing and comfortable place to enjoy a few glasses of vino with friends.

If you find yourself in Napier, make sure to stop by Rock my Belly Cafe, a hidden gem tucked away on the first floor of upper Emerson Street. This delightful spot is known for its friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The menu boasts a variety of mouthwatering dishes, including their famous Chicken and Waffles—a must-try for anyone visiting!
OK I'm going to tell you the best kept secret & you won't be disappointed... This place is amazballs from the awesome staff & chef who are super friendly & just bloody good people. Now the food AaaaaamaZing (If I could insert angels singing it would be now) the kiddos had the chicken waffles & my dear mate & I shared the ham, mushroom & 3 cheese & the chicken curry waffle OMG that chicken curry Out The Gate (I need that recipe in my life). So put this on the top of the list when you visit Napier. Because this will be the meal you really want to move to Napier for.....

As my Father said, this wonderful establishment should change it's make to Stuff my Belly as its mouthwatering dishes are so generously sized. We both had the Chicken burger, and rated it as one of the best we've ever had. The chips are as good as the best fish n chip shops, and the shakes are a thick ice cream charged indulgence. 10/10 would recommend.
Giles P — Google review
Had the show stopper sub challenge, it was delicious, so much meat lol. Shakes here are good too. I've also had the chicken and waffles from here and they were fantastic. Hard to find a place that does chicken and waffles too.

Late review as the last time I visited was a few months ago but.... this is definitely the best cafe in Napier. Walk upstairs and try some delicious food 😋 🍴🍴

Highly recommend this restaurant! Tasty food with reasonable price and friendly staff. Really enjoy it. Thank you! Btw, maybe the owner can set up the profile on TripAdvisor. I can see the cafe on Google map, but it is not on TripAdvisor.

So good!!!! Generous portions and so tasty. Best banoffee waffles and chicken sammich 😁 First genuine chicken mayo in NZ in 16 years. Yum!!!! 😋

Whether you are catching up with friends for a coffee or you are needing lunch or dinner Rock My Belly has a good all day menu from the kitchen - seemed very reasonably priced for what we received! Definitely worth climbing the stairs to the first floor and trying for yourself - we particularly enjoy sitting by the window and watching people on the street ... it’s indoors so we were protected from the weather !

The Groove Kitchen Espresso is an espresso-focused cafe with a variety of coffee drinks and brunch food. The eggs Benedict and potato cakes are the most popular menus items, but they also offer latte, long black, cinnamon cappuccino, affogato. The cafe is relatively quiet on Monday morning, likely due to the fact that it's Monday. It would be great for coffee and brunch with a friend or partner.
Visit here today for brunch with my partner. They served great coffees and food. Also lovely buildings and atmosphere. Have no idea why it was so quiet. I guess because Monday. Happy to come back for coffee and food again.

Great food, amazing coffee, nice music! Staff were wonderful too! Love the options of half/full servings and extra hot or regular temp of coffee. So thoughtful!
Justine S — Google review
I can see why the eggs Benedict is their signature dish. Absolutely superb and gluten free. Also loved the fact that a half serve was on offer- the perfect size. My mocha was delicious, not too sweet and with coffee art. Would return in a heartbeat.
Robyn W — Google review
Had an amazing breakfast there on Jan 3. The coffee was incredible and complemented the exquisite breakfast. So much so that 10 of us went back back the next day. The choice of full and half portions is a wonderful idea.

Delicious food, awesome coffee and really cool vibe. Really wish there was a place like this in Sydney. Service was friendly - but a slight mix up with our tables order was made up for with a couple of bonus ginger cakes. Thanks.
Daryl M — Google review
With the fires blazing on a cold November day this place was really cozy. The nice staff made us feel really welcome and explained the menu, and we both ordered a lighter bite. I enjoyed my calzone and my other half enjoyed the corn fritter although the portion was a little small. None the less we enjoyed it here.
Joe B — Google review
Ate here 31-12_16. We were a large group of 15. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Food was very good with a good interesting menu. Half portions available and for some of our group that was enough while others mixed and matched. Best coffee!
Craig B — Google review
We went to several places that were supposed to have the best coffee in the general Napier area, but we found it here at Groove Kitchen Espresso. This is easily some of the best coffee we've had in New Zealand! These also have an incredible salmon bennie served on a potato cake. This place is a gem and should be much busier than it is.

The Fuse cafe at Carlyle Street is a great place to relax with friends and enjoy good food and excellent coffee. The atmosphere is lovely, with plenty of space to use laptops if you want, or you can get cozy too. The coffees they roast are delicious, and there's also yummy food (and cakey things too) on the menu. Highly recommended!
Good food. Excellent staff. Lovely atmosphere. Plenty of room to use a laptop if you want, or you can get cosy as well. You can get lost in the rhythms and aromas of the coffee beans as they are stirred after coming out of the roaster.
Tony W — Google review
Excellent coffee and food as per usual. However never in my life have I had such an unpleasant customer service experience. I met my 3 friends at Fuse, one had ordered before we got there. When my friend inquired about her coffee after we had all been served our drinks except her, the new lady there with a foreign accent spoke so rudely/abrubtly "no, you didn't order coffee!" and "you havn't paid me!" and denied serving my friend, at this point my friend even offered to show her her bank statement proof and she said "yes" (this is a $4 coffee, are you kidding me) . After my friend showed her that she had indeed ordered (20 minutes beforehand) she still maintained "well I didn't serve you" and gave no apology . Her lovely co-worker was pleasant, apologetic, and gave my friend a complementary coffee, but this was not her mistake to fix. Will me and my friends be returning customers? NO, never
