We had dinner at Mr D and everything looked the part. Really enjoyed the beetroot entree which was the star of the evening. Shared a few other entrees and mains, everything looked visually appealing. The flavour profile wasn’t quite up to expected standards but with a few slight tweaks it could be elevated. But overall, it was a great experience.

If you're not rating this place 5 stars, that's a "you" problem. David our host was fantastic. His knowledge and suggestions were on point. Plus some great tips on other places for the rest of our journey (Poppy says Hi 😉) The food was exceptional, and wines to amaze (always trust the local insider knowledge, not the price tag)

Beautiful vibe, amazing service. Everyone greets customers with a warm smile. The quality of food and coffee is amazing. Don't expect the regular donuts, they have a different concept and it is fun and yummy to try. Definitely a place to try, had we had another day in Napier, we would have tried a brinch or dinner.

After humming and harring where to have brunch I settled with Mister D. I ordered the smashed avocado with feta etc...and with some extras, Bacon and Tomato. And had a doughnut with custard and coffee. Wow what amazing service and food! The meal and extras do add up, but so worth it. Best brunch and service I've ever had. Wish you were in Palmy nth.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast here. All of the meals were really tasty. I had the smashed avo and added a perfectly cooked poached egg, it was delicious! Service was incredible, everyone looked busy but were super attentive. Love to see such a mixed aged group of staff doing such a good job. Having regrets that I didn't try a doughnut!

What a wonderful lunch experience, just perfect! Beautiful, friendly service with the most incredible non pretentious kai. The Kumara Lángos are crispy on the outside and light and airy in the middle, accompanied by whipped feta and pickles. We also shared a Paua pie with watercress purée. The flavours transported me back to childhood with the watercress reminiscent of dad’s boil up and memories of mincing paua on a Saturday morning. Can’t recommend Mister Ds enough

Mister D in Napier is a must-visit! The atmosphere is lively and fun, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a night out. The menu is creative and delicious, with something for everyone. Glad we found this delectable cafe before we left town. Out of everywhere we visited this week this one's was the best. Coffee was delicious , eggs Benedict with salmon and the big breakfast. Staff were attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Loved bring by the seaside and how modern this cafe is. Definitely recommend a visit. My sidekick said the gluten free bread was the best he’s ever tasted. It’s made on site and looks delicious!

Seen the advert on Facebook and place looked beautiful. We went for dinner, walked in and thought it was a café. Not much indoor seating. All day menu isn't an all day and is more of a breakfast and lunch menu. Food is priced quite high for what you get portion wise. KFC chicken are very thin and not much flavour is sauces. Dumplings were the best thing we ordered.

A lovely atmosphere with something a little different, cabinet food offered for a light evening meal and I paid for a salad that was freshly made, zingy and a taste experience. Service was exceptional and price for a meal was exceptional.

I booked a table for my parents as I am out of town. The staff went out of their way to ensure they had a great experience. They went way above and beyond with service for my parents and for me, and also took the time to send me photos. Parents thoroughly enjoyed their meal, the atmosphere and commented on how lovely all the staff were. They said. the food was very nice and that they are looking forward to going back, and when in town, I will definitely be visting too. We came here yesterday, and had such beautiful food that we drove 20 minutes to come here again today! I had the coconut bircher bowl which was refreshing and keeps me full for hours without that heavy feeling...and there were so many delicious options for all of our family. There is literally something for everyone! Lots of parking too. We will definitely be back!!

Food and coffee was of good quality, staff friendly.

Lovely interior decoration and great atmosphere, suitable for dates or family dinners. Our hostess/waitress was very accommodating and welcoming. We had the beef Wellington and the pork hock/pork belly with a side of fries and bread for starters. The portion is decent and quality is very good. The hock/pork belly was a little dry for me but it was still very good. The beef cheek Wellington was very moist and the pastry was super! It was definitely our favorite dish. The dessert was very good also. The chips and bread was a good compliment. They have a good selection of NZ wine and we got the Hopes Grove Syrah, very nice I must say. Would definitely come back next time I visit Hawkes Bay

Excellent, interesting food and attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed all courses (see pics) and good wine pairings. Given the quality of the food I think the tasting menu represented pretty good value for money. It's quite a small restaurant so reservations recommended.

If you could look for a fine dine place in a nice atmosphere and good quality food, here is your choice!! The venison is amazing. It's must order dish. Excellent service A+++++

The 3 rd experience of fine dining / degustation menu. Once again walked in and the staff were very accommodating but had to sit at bar as no space even though I arrive at 8.15 pm. The food got served in quick pace. The set menu is part of their A la carte. I got house bread with cauliflower, sashimi and chicken wing for entree. For mains beetroot risotto and mussle fish fennel powder. The fennel powder was nice n new to me. Dessert was mocha cake I think. Overall 107$ with drink which is expensive as the food didn’t contain many expensive items. Thus value for meal is 3 or less but taste definitely 4-4.5. Reading other comments indeed the food quantity is small but if u r dinning a set menu then u do have 4 to 5 dishes to go thru n that fills you up with drinks. Guess if one is in 20s or a big eater, then yes food is quantity is tiny. The small quantity probably holds true for a number of degustation menus I have been too. Once again for an occasion / one time affair.. ———————————- Visited again Apr 2021. This time I was very disappointed. I reached at 2040hrs and the staff agreed to seat me but the kitchen was really closing and I would have preferred the straight answer of not being able to dine, rather than a half hearted attempt. Steaks and anything that’s took longer than 10 mins wasn’t allowed and neither was dessert.. I prolly Shd have left myself. I had chicken wings which weren’t wings at all but crispy fried batter on top of chicken pieces. 17.25$ for piece of 4. Poor taste and felt worse than kfc to be honest. 1/5 for value n taste. Organic chicken was 29$ which was a thick piece of chicken breast with not much taste. 1/5 for value n taste unfortunately. The cocktail Sicilian 20$ Was prolly the highlight. Overall 67$. Not worth it at all..

We wanted to like this place, but sadly we would not go back. The place was pretty empty when we showed up and there were easily 20 tables available. We had to sit and wait over 10 mins for them to set our table. The food was ok, but seemed to lack seasoning over all. Plus the prices were very high for the sizes especially what were considered mains but were appetizer size. The wines list is very over priced with charging over $20+ a glass for a $38 bottle. I felt bad because there was only one chef in the kitchen and no one else, not even a dish washer. Only 2 staff total on the floor, which I am sure is a reflection of COVID red status at the moment. The staff were very nice but moved with a lackadaisical vibe.

Buzzing place. Great food options. We choose the 6 course tasting menu which is good value. Service started out good - pleasant, informative and prompt - but then it fell over with the first 2 courses coming close together and then really long delays between courses. Then we had to wait at the counter 10 minutes plus to pay the bill!

This restaurant is a fantastic choice for seafood lovers. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this dining experience. It's a must-try if you're in the area. Portion is decent but nothing too crazy.

Just fine. Some dishes were great (grilled fish, marinated fish, KF Sea) and some fell flat (scallops, prawns) while others were just okay (crayfish pasta, calamari). The atmosphere is nice and the service, although pleasant, is very slow and/or non-existent. You'll be lucky to get more than one drink as they never really stop by the tables at all except to clear dishes. They don't replace cutlery even if they've taken yours so you're often left waiting to eat. Again, takes forever so things get cold. They also don't fire courses at a reasonable pace (they wait for you to completely finish, sit there waiting for 5-10 minutes, clear your plates, then asking if you're ready for the next course). Not sure if it's because they don't tip in NZ but the service is just very apathetic compared to Europe or North America. Very slow and awkward and not personable or hospitable. Personally, I would only go back for a quick round of snacks and/or a drink while enjoying the views, definitely not a full meal.

We ordered various smalls to try lot of different items. They all were very tasty and didn’t have to wait long for it to be served. Friendly customer service. Bit expensive for portion size but worth a try.

Fantastic coffee, Great flavour. Local sourdough bread was light and fluffy, amazing taste. Recommend either the tomato or avocado.

We ordered one tomato toast and one egg and bacon toast. We waited 30 minutes to be served. The tomato toast was a single basic toast with a bit of cream cheese and 3 slices of tomato : it costed 12 dollars. Ridiculous. The other toast was a bit more consequent. However the poached eggs were both much too cooked. The food was really disappointed but the place and the view really nice. Definitely a tourist place.

Awesome coffee and service. Really great little spot on the waterfront. The legends who work here really have a passion for the business and make you feel really welcome. The ambiance is relaxed but with a touch of spice so you could stick around for a while having lunch and a hot drink. Definitely come through here if you're in town.

Visited FG Smith Eatery in Ahuriri for their power breakfast and it was an excellent choice! The ambiance is warm and inviting — a lovely place to start the morning. The meal was hearty and satisfying, definitely a heavy breakfast that keeps you full for hours. The coffee was great! Service just allright.

Had a family brunch here! Everyone was able to find something to enjoy. The Under 5s had fries and sourdough toast. Three vegan options: Fried Rice, Granola, and Coffee Roasted Beetroot with Freekah. I went for the Spinach & Cheese scroll with whipped butter. It was a really delicious bread. I also had the Tan Slice. A super smooth caramel filling and lovely walnut and biscuit topping. Family had multiple coffees and tried the Eggs Benedict with Bacon. It looked good and they scraped the plates clean.

Lovely little spot in Ahuriri. Had the Power Breakfast as I spotted it had black pudding. Pudding was not quite the same as Irish BP but was still very yummy with a nice coarse texture and balanced seasoning. Rest of the brekkie was wonderful as well- perfect poached eggs and a bacon rosette no less. Worth checking out.

Decent food and coffee, staff were very efficient and friendly and we didn't have to wait very long. Ordered a Cappuccino and the French Toast, both good and the French toast was nice and fluffy, wouldn't have minded some fruit or something, but still enjoyable.

What an oasis for people who are looking for food that’s both organic and vegan! I would highly recommend going to Napier just to go to this place (but hopefully also to explore the area). It was heaven on Earth. During my stay me and my partner tried out: - Delicious seedy buckwheat bread - Pistachio and a lemon-lime “cheese”-cake – they’ve got so many (too many) of these vegan cheesecake flavours to choose from, and the ones we tried were simply divine, probably one of the best cakes, I’ve ever had - Vegan cornbread with cashew chipotle – nice and indulgent - Vegan bounty – rich and yummy - Vegan cookies – like cookies should be

Staff wanted us to use takeaway cups, which we don’t like. They didn’t seem happy about giving us normal cups. Coffee was fine, the Afghan cookie was good. However, we didn’t feel comfortable there.

I'm vision impaired and struggled to read their menu (Very small print with fancy font). It's very busy and I found it difficult to read what they had. It also says online that they make vegan Mac n cheese etc however when I asked they only had soups and fresh sandwiches, tacos etc. The chipotle taco, soup and sandwich I had on two separate occasions were delicious and the fact they cater for vegans and vegetarians is amazing. Seems alternative eating has gone backwards everytime I visit NZ however this place is amazing.

Just ask the price before you order and grab the receipt! $15.50 for a sandwich, chicken, avo. Yum yet too expensive for me, thanks. **Edit** It wasnt labour weekend, it was about a month back. End of September. $35 for 2 chicken sammies and a flat white. I just assumed the sammies were $15 each because we know you could not have charged $9 for the flat white! Perhaps I should have said this in the 1st place. So if they were $13 each then perhaps we were over charged on the coffee!

Food here was amazing! So many vegan options and not too expensive. I got the avocado on toast, I wasn’t a fan of the seeded bread as it was very hard but that’s personal preference. The raw cakes selection was amazing and the mocha cheesecake was delicious. Staff could have been a little friendlier, they were quite aloof and standoffish but overall the place was nice.

Hapi is you Happy place ! Fantastic local organic mostly vegan cafe. Plenty of gf and vegan options of very fresh, organic food. Good selection of home made juices and drinks. Recommend vegan tofu chipotle tacos. They are rare treat ! Vegan Sammie with avocado is delicious too. Coffee best in town and plenty of delicious tea options. Cafe is inside Chantel organic store which is a great local organic shop.

I’ve been to a lot of cocktail bars, but this one genuinely sits at the top. The team working Thursday night were the definition of world-class hospitality. I train people in customer service excellence for a living, and this was the pinnacle example. They were fun, switched-on, and so naturally good at reading the room. And the food!? The lamb wontons were ridiculous. Probably the best fried wontons I’ve ever had. Crispy, flavour-packed, juicy magic that had me grinning like an idiot. The cocktails were stunning, the atmosphere was buzzing without being overwhelming, and the service was genuinely faultless. It was a masterclass in how to do hospitality right.

Cocktails are below average and last time staff were smoking outside and the smell filled the indoor space. Please don't. I will come back for the Korean chicken though, it's incredible.

There is a very good reason for this bar to be so highly rated. Gorgeous place with great vibes. All front of house staff are courteous and professional, everyone looks very classy. You feel like you are in a loft in New York or London when you are in here. I had a gin fizz which was great, but the chicken burger for only $15 highly exceeded my expectations. You will struggle to find a $30 burger better than this one. The bar itself is also gorgeous, and the mirrors around the place really complete the look. If I lived in Napier I would definitely be a regular here. Go here!!

Went there for breakfast. The service was great big smiles on their faces as they greeted us. However the pastries were meh. They didn’t really have a heater or a toaster when they display the pastries then give it to us making it cold. The chocolate danish was half chocolate and half nothing which made it half good and half slightly bland.

Nice little cafe in Napier, pretty close to the shore in the hip area of town. On a sunny day, this place is pumping... Good coffees, and not bad hot chocolate (mine).

Nice pastries and crazy good firsthand coffee. Seems the kind of place that you would find in Italy for a cuppa and walk the dogs and meet a local for a chat.

Cute coffee place in Ahuriri with consistently good coffee. I love a reliable coffee treat, and this is one of our favourite places to drop by for a take away coffee, to go walk by the sea with. Delish.

This place was good overall. They served hot coffee in a handleless glass cup, which was hard to drink from until a lovely waitress provided a napkin. The French toast was good but too sweet with the jam and syrup. Prices were a bit high. Sorry for the bad photo.

Highly disappointed. Food was not up to standard. My wife's croque monsieur was soggy and rubbery as though it was heated in microwave. Also missing ingredients. Food did not come out all at once. I was waiting while my wife was served. Dishes were not clean when served. As example milk jug We have been here twice but will not return. Not sure what is happening with this establishment.

Very industrial-looking which makes it appear a bit “cold” but food is good and so is the coffee. Smashed avocado and Eggs Benedict both available as a gluten free option and proportions were huge!

We are on our way to Taupo and stopped by the cafe for breakfast. We had coffee, blueberry muffins, a toasted bacon and egg sandwich, a chicken and spinach sandwich, and cheese scones. The food was fairly delectable. However, we felt that the toasted sandwich at $16 was quite expensive. The service provided by the wait staff was good.

Nice atmosphere, friendly people. Very good flat white coffee with amazing latte art. Almond croissant and ginger slice were delicious. On our 3day visit to Napier we went here twice. If we ever return to Napier we will definitely visit again.

Had a most delightful dinner last night. Had the raw fish, lamb rump, gurnard and tiramisu. They were all delicious. Was a bit crowded found myself talking behind someone's head. Will be going back again with a group of friends on this coming Monday.

Really enjoyed the personalisation that restaurant did given we were celebrating anniversary and birthday. The personal touches—free bubbles, a leisurely table, impeccable service—make all the difference when celebrating something special. And that menu? Raw fish, wontons, market fish, sourdough, affogato—all was a perfectly balanced mix of flavors. The brown butter with bread and the house-made Baileys with brown butter ice cream and espresso was next-level indulgent. Bistro really knows how to craft an experience that lingers beyond the meal itself.

Dined here on Mothers Day, opting for the trust the chef menu - the perfect way to sample a bit of everything! Starting with the most divine snacks (x3), we added oysters which were so fresh and delicious, followed by a series of very generous and beautifully balanced plates (x4). Appreciated the mix of HB local and more exotic ingredients. Our waitress was lovely and personable, as well as the Maître D. Incredible value for what you get, alongside the level of service and beautiful atmosphere. Already planning our next visit!

WOW! We did Trust The Chef, with wine matching. Amazing, Unbelievable, Superb would be some words to describe. We sat where we could see the Chef's working - awesome. Staff great. Busy when we arrived, but Maitre de said he'd have a table for us if we came back in half an hour - he had it waiting. Serving staff great, had good knowledge of the food and wine. We would go back. (Sorry, no photos, we were too enchanted with the food and wine to consider photos!)

Such an incredible dining experience in Napier. The service of staff and the duty manager was exceptional. The food was out of this world. Amazing cuts of meat. Craftsmanship of each meal was amazing. Absolute favourite would have to be the housemade sourdough and burnt butter. You'll never taste anything more delicious in your life!

Absolutely wonderful lunch. I had the creamy mushrooms and my lunch companion had the corn fritter stack. The mushrooms were beautifully cooked with a huge portion of bacon, perfectly toasted bread and a poached egg which was sublime. The portions were huge and well worth the money. If you’re in Napier or Ahuriri, seek out this gem. You won’t be disappointed.

The chef is very friendly. He' has a very kind nature plus his cooking is excellent. I really enjoyed my eggs Benedict. My husband enjoyed his ahuriri chicken and beef burger. And our son demolished his burger too. Shout out to Praveen Singh Negi one of the great chef at this Cafe Ahuriri. Thanks to the beautiful waitress. Also the Fish of the Day is fresh not dried. The salad is fresh garden salad so yummy.

Another return visit to cafe Ahururi, another wonderful brunch. Cannot recommend this cafe enough. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful , well presented food. Great value 😀

Really impressed either way this restaurant and bar. They were extremely busy but acclimated our group of four. We started with a pink gin flight and moved on to other flavours like Pinot noir gin and then the duchess peach and passion fruit that was a firm favourite. Food was great, we had scallops, fish, Karage chicken and the steak special. All food was presented well and delicous. The service was amazing our waitresses were friendly and fun Nd the place was pumping so a great atmosphere. Highly recommend going here.

Went here for a work lunch. They had prepared a big table inside as well as outside so we could make a choice once we got there but since it was a beautiful day we chose outside. Great atmosphere, perfect to hang out on a sunny day. Amazing food, only took photos of two meals but all of them were amazing. Couldn't test the drinks as we were lunching on company time but I'm sure at a place called the Gin trap, their drinks would have been amazing too.

Wow! Fantastic seafood that we have enjoyed. Mussels, salmon, calamari, scallops and more with excellent sauces made by them. We highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. 👍👍👍👌👌👌

The place for lunch on a Friday. From Zero to 100 in under a minute. The waitresses were really good with surprising me with delicious Pink gins. (The options were endless so I left the decision to their expertise) food was yum. Would highly recommend.

We loved our evening. Great atmosphere. Everyone loved the food, it catered to all my children's likes, burgers, pizza, and OMG the braised lamb shank. We indulged in a bit of everything from cocktails to desert. We had the nicest evening out. Thanks gin trap. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful experience at gintrap .The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who made us feel looked after from the moment we arrived. The chicken tenders was especially delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect. We also loved the desert which was the perfect finish to our meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cosy spot with great food and service. We will definitely be back!

Just nipped in for lunch and wow, the craft beer selection here is incredible! I had a milk stout, my partner a ginger and mandarin – best drinks ever! The manager was lovely and so attentive, and the bar staff were all super helpful. The food was amazing too – the steak was cooked perfectly, so buttery and tender, it practically melted in your mouth! Can't wait to come back!

My sister and I visited Napier for the Hawke's Bay Marathon and were told this place serves good food, so we chose to dine here on our last night. The food was amazing! We had the chicken pork adobo, and it tasted just like the one back home 🥰 Their service was top-notch! We celebrated my sister’s birthday here, and they went above and beyond and even gave an on-the-house lava cake for my sister 🥰 Really appreciate the gesture. Will make sure to come back on our next visit 💕🙏

A young man named Jack helped me to my room and carried my bags for me. The service that i experienced at the Beach Inn from all of the staff was up there with the best i’ve had. Would definitely recommend for people who are wanting a lovely place to stay

2nd stay here. It was a last minute booking, they handled my lateness so well and the recent drop In pricing was definitely attractive. The staff are so lovely and engaging. I felt anxious going into the packed out restaurant/bar area by myself while the rugby was on but the staff helped by being friendly and holding genuine conversation. I ordered a meal and they offered to deliver it to my room which was so great after driving 12hrs over the last 24 hours, it will definitely be my continued choice of accomodation when visiting Napier. The rooms are nice and tidy with plenty of space and sky in the rooms is so good! Only critique is the strong smell of I assume cleaning products but given I booked at 7pm perhaps staff didn’t have time to air the room out. All in all- love it here.

This place is honestly amazing! The rooms are beautiful, the staff are beyond friendly and the food tasted define. The duty manager chocho was the lovely's girl that showed us to our room as well as notified us about all the activities we can do during our stay and the opening and closing hours for their bar and kitchen. The staff being so friendly was truly the reason why i enjoyed my stay knowing that im fully taken care of!

One of the best eating places I've ever visited. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. Simple little restaurant with quirky decorations, the atmosphere just made us feel at home. The staff were so friendly, we wouldn't hesitate to come back here next time we're in Napier, and have recommended it to friends and family. EDIT: we've returned here several times over the years and the food and the staff do not disappoint.

Foods are pretty authentic Malaysian. It's nice to have a nice Asian meal while travelling outtown. Staffs were attentive and they're proactive and sensitive with your needs. It's located in the busiest area of the whole Napier city so it was hard to find street parking around. (especially when we went on a Sunday and all street parking was free and with no time limit)

This has become our go-to “mystery visit” restaurant every time we’re in Napier! We loved it so much that we came twice in two days. My husband absolutely adores their food and service, and he insisted on celebrating his birthday dinner here. The lovely and super friendly owner even treated us to delicious durian ice cream and fried banana fritters. Highly recommended!

Has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. As well as customising for other dietary requirements. The food was fresh and varied. All tasty. The vegetarian wonton (shiitake) was delicious! Loved the Assam Fish dish at FHL. My dining partner enjoyed the Beef Rendang. Friendly, attentive service. Reasonable prices. Good wine. First in the restaurant; by the time we left most of the tables were occupied (always a good sign). Recommended.

My partner and I were very impressed with our dinner. Our lamb and beef was very tasty and so were our dumplings and chicken satay skewers for our starters. Our waitress was very efficient and always had a smile. I am very happy to recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food. Great find for a foodie. Unassuming from the outside but the food is where the effort is. We could taste Malaysian cuisine without the long flight and the service was excellent. Very accommodating if we had requests.

I stopped here for a late lunch and it was still pretty busy but with ample tables inside and out. Service was quick and the food excellent. I had an iced peach tea and a toasted corned beef, halloumi and kimchi sandwich and my goodness was it delicious.

Honestly a restaurant or cafe that serves food this good makes you realise how average most cafe's are. We had the smashed avo with extra bacon and the smoked fish with rosti, eggs and hollandaise.... Superb! The portions are generous and the food well designed and executed with quality ingredients and care. The coffee was perfect and tge service exceptional. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

BEST FOOD, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE EVER! I went for the first time 2 weeks ago and have been back twice already. Their burgers are big, full and tasty all for a reasonable price. And they come with chips! Which is becoming a rare thing 😒 All workers seem chill, fun and super attentive. We sat down and withing minutes they had brought us sparkling water to start us of. The cabinet food looks beautiful, I had their chicken and cranberry panini and it was to die for. It was so filling I had to get a doggie bag and ate it for lunch the next day. Everyone I've taken there had lived it! They're often busy at all times of the day, serving coffee, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, sweets. They have it all. They even have a self service till where you can order drinks and cabinet food to keep ordering quick and smooth. I will 100% going back 👏

We had breakfast here every day of our recent tour to Napier, with a group of 22 people. We all loved our meals - highlight for most was the muesli! The serving sizes were great, the meals were hot and always came out on time. The coffee was consistently fab - didn't seem to matter who made it, or which day it was - it stayed delish. Sebastian made the process very easy and was a pleasure to work with. We will def be back next time we are in Napier - great job team!

We’ve been here many times as locals but this time really disappointed. I had the Vegan Stack with a poached egg. The egg was over cooked and the capsicum coulis was missing from the dish completely. When we enquired about the missing coulis the young waitress at the counter grinned and said oh it’s probably because capsicum is out of season. Considering I bought three at 89c each today I know this not to be the case! We also mentioned the eggs being overcooked on both my dish and my partners Eggs Benedict. There was no apology, no offer of anything to make it right. A real let down and won’t be venturing back anytime soon.

Had the best gluten free toasted ham and cheese toasted sandwich and its not even on the menu. Thanks to the staff member who served me who was really pleasant and the chef who was happy to make it

It’s a challenge trying to get brekkie without eggs. Without being a fuss anyway. A burger on the brekkie menu tickled my curiosity (with the fried egg removed). Honestly a surprise and delight. I couldn’t quite work myself up to picking it and eating it for breakfast, but was a good start to the day with my perfect piccolo coffee. Would get the quirky again. For the record, the dishes all around with eggs looked top notch too.

Yuuuuum, my partner and I were in Napier over the weekend for work and both mornings we headed here for breakfast. I highly recommend the hotcakes (pictured) absolutely delicious especially if you have a sweet tooth! We also tried the muesli and egg panini these were also very tasty. Great coffee being served too! Man, I’m drooling just thinking about it.

Can't put into words how good the food is. Highly recommend the hot cakes with berries, chocolate soil, and chocolate mousse of you have a sweet tooth; or the chicken katsu eggs benedict if you prefer savory. Portions are huge too!!! I'd eat everything on the menu, even if it killed me. Its in the top 5 dining experiences I've ever had!

Wonderful cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. They have an excellent breakfast menu, reasonably priced. Our omelette and poached eggs were perfect and they make the best pot of tea on the North Island.

Stopped by for brunch at this cafe in Napier. The cafe was busy which is a good sign. The service was fast & friendly, and the food was very good including both sweet & savoury cabinet options for gluten free. A menu is available but we bought food from the cabinet, so can't comment on that except to say that the soup seemed popular as they sold out of both options.

Best long black coffee around here. They have free sparkling or still water on tap. The toasted sandwiches are amazing with both meat and vege options. Inside is cozy, but I like the outside area on dry days.

Just arrived in Napier late afternoon looking for coffee. Most have an early afternoon close. We found it a bit difficult to find it is tucked into an older art deco building with out door seating. It is mainly a wine bar with coffee. The coffee is very good. Service good and out door seating comfortable

So enjoy wandering in on a Saturday morning, enjoying the beautiful Clive Square atmosphere. Great spot for a crepe n coffee for breakfast. And to pick up bread, veggies and pastries

It was light showers as we got to the market. Both sides of the street along the park had market stalls. As we were travelling onto Wellington we could not buy any fresh produces or perishables, even if these were looking so good and fresh at the stalls. We did decide to buy from the bakery stall as we could eat these along the way. Definitely would come back and with more time to stay.

Visiting Napier for few days, stopped in here to kill some time. Market very small, just the normal coffee, breads/savouries, bacon sammies, fruit/veg, wooden chopping boards & flowers. Locals very friendly. Only negative the coffee truck makes horrible coffee and extremely hot. So if you do decide to buy from here be sure to ask for 2 cups so you can at least hold your distasteful cup of coffee.

I mean the market itself is small and not much exposer for the marketeers online. You're not really sure if everyone is going to be there or not. When you have visitors from out of town, you take them there and your market is slightly empty then that's sad for everyone. They need more exposure and more stalls to make it a good market.

Love the farmers market, had the best figs stall ever, lots of variety of fresh food.

Fantastic atmosphere and fabulous fresh produce. I was especially impressed with the herbs & flower plants for sale. You do not have to buy a full punnet you can buy just one plant or make up a mixed basket of what you need. What a brilliant idea! Well worth a visit to this great Farmers Market right next to the beautiful Clive Square in Napier city centre.

Excellent pies (full of meat, not pastry) and the chips are amazing. I'm no sure of the "healthy" claim, but when they taste this good I really don't care.

Was looking forward to purchasing 3 x pies and a drink from the shop, however when it came to paying they couldn't accept my Visa card (plenty of money in it and worked the previous day in Wellington fine). As per the lady they don't accept "foreign" cards, which is strange seeing as the shop is situated in the tourist area where cruise ship passengers are dropped off!

$7 for a gluten free pie and the lady said 4-5mins, 10mins later i walk in and shes pulling them out of the microwave going "oh i forgot". If i wanted a microwave pie id go to a dairy.

Avoid this place! I asked for the vegan pie advertised in store (partly due to a dairy allergy and partly due to me not eating meat for over 2 years) but instead got given a chicken pie, which I didnt realise until I'd already eaten some of the meat and creamy sauce as I was distracted talking to my partner. Woman behind the counter shrugged, said sorry and put a vegan one in the microwave saying it would "wash away the taste" from my mouth. Got my money back and left instead. This is terrible customer service and from a food safety perspective appalling practice. I'm only grateful I didn't eat any more than I did because I don't feel particularly well now. Also for a non-vegan pie the "pastry" was shocking. Don't waste your money.

We love jester pies but our last few purchases of southernman and steak and mushroom have had too much pepper in them. Very disappointed.too hot.

Came in today for breakfast with my family and had the best cafe pancakes i’ve ever had! The food was cheap, came in large portions, served nice and hot and my pancakes were fluffy and sweet. We weren’t waiting for long and there were lots of available seats! Overall i had an amazing trip to this cafe and would definitely return for more of those pancakes!!

A lovely spot on the quay for our morning breakfast! Our party of three enjoyed a lemon coconut muffin with hot chocolate, the Hash Stack plate with a strawberry smoothie, and a bacon Eggs Benedict with a bottle of Homegrown raw orange juice out of the fridge. The menu fare and bakery case all looked so tempting. We are beyond pleased with our meal! The gent behind the counter, very friendly and accommodating. A lovely hideaway spot for something to nosh and start our day off right.

Called in for a Mango banana smoothie and was wowed by the range of food on offer, the size of the portions served and friendly helpful staff. Ended up adding a feta / spinach scone to my order. Tasty and filling 👍

Had the best kai here today. Massive bowl of the most delicious pork and vegetable soup. Super fresh fried bread. Hand cut chips. Yum yum yum. New fave and can’t wait to come back. Loveliest staff as well.

Everything about our time at this cafe was great. The best fries ever ! The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. My wife and I had been there before several years ago and it has only got better. We made a special trip into the city to eat there on our way past Napier and it was so worth it.

The staff were super friendly and flexible. The food was below average. The coffee was average. Toilet was a little hard to find. Cabinet food was pretty empty when I visited, tho this could be because it was a holiday. The aesthetic and vibe is lacking. Eggs on toast were very plain and on plain supermarket sliced bread which I'm not used to at cafes. The wedges were mostly fine but the bigger ones were undercooked. The panini was fine. The iced coffee was a frap instead of an iced drink, tasted good.

Poppy’s Cafe is a must visit if you’re in Napier! The food is fantastic and the service unmatched. The owner/operators were incredibly kind and funny and have created such a warm and inviting atmosphere, I’ll be smiling when I think back on this cafe for years to come. I had the fresh fruit and cream pancake stack and took a fudgy brownie to go, and both were to die for!

Greek food is hard to find, particularly at the bay. Really enjoyed our platter. Unfortunately my lamb was quite dry and hence only 4 stars. In saying that, a friend had a Moussaka and it was great!

Laminate tables were cute the service was amazing and the food delicious. The chef's were to be commended on their sensational marinated olives. I'd go back there any day!!

I have been going to the National Café for 28 years, I even ate there for my 21st. It was my favourite restaurant in the WHOLE WORLD! And yes I have travelled majority of the world. I practically grew up with Alec and Bill (Bill singing to me in the high chair and Alec smiling behind him) My family have been eating at the National for over 75 years! Never have I ever complained about my food and service there but today I must say was the worse by far 😔😔 Our steaks were DRY and the fish tasted funny. On the menu it says old favourites but they are NOT! I do realise it has been 'revamped' but the food has changed DRAMATICALLY! The salad dressing is no longer sweet and tasteful, the chips are not crunchy, bread wasn't fresh but hard, the fish isn't fresh and the steak isn't 'melt in your mouth' material. I do understand the restaurant needed updating but some of us come from a far just for that taste of home and National was that for us. Alec is the National Café without Alec and Bill there is no National so don't be saying he's 'free labour' because that's unprofessional and very down putting as he's been there since I was born he's like an uncle. Also when my son handed you his money to pay for our dinner which I must add made him feel good and you turned around and said 'And the rest' was very arrogant of you. Obviously my 3 year old son didn't have enough money but a gracious expression would have gone a fair way in that situation. I'm never one to complain but I feel tonight was a kick in the face. Alec I appreciate you! Just know that someone does.

The lady that served us was pretty average... not polite, after ordering 2 flat whites we returned 1 as it was a cappuccino.... after seeing Bridget and her workmate Cara(I'm sure) looking and swearing in our direction we were given exactly the same rubbish version of a flat white(cappuccino) we left it at that. I ordered the big breakfast, eggs are well over cooked. Now I have eaten here before and it was amazing with excellent service. All the staff are different by the looks

I hate to moan but sometimes you have to . My wife ordered a bowl of chips today. $12. Poor value for money. Not many chips in the bowl for that price. The chips were nice though.

Didn't clean a single table the entire time we were there. No clean tables available so we sat at one that just had a few plates/cups left. After 2 staff walked back from delivering coffees empty handed we moved the dishes to a neighboring table. Of the tables that did get cleared none were cleaned. Baby chair looked grubby too. And no, it wasn't a short staff thing because there were 2 girls busy chatting doing nothing behind the counter. Older couple had grabbed water glasses and I had to let them know one of the glasses was grubby as they didn't see. Was asked if I wanted chips or salad with my bagel, only to see I was charged an extra $12.50 for the chips I said yes to, when they made it seem lile it was a choice of side. Food was delicious. Shame about the cleanliness because if it's like that on the customer side I'd hate to think what the kitchen was like. Won't be returning

Today at lunch time my husband ordered french toast. The presentation and quality of what was on the plate was disgusting. It had all black burnt peices all over the toast, bacon and the banana. I always beeived clean utensils were required for each individual order. Or if using a hot grill you clean all residue between orders.. Was really not impressed this visit as usually it has always been acceptable. Service at the counter was good.

Too much hollandaise sauce - recommend asking for it on the side. Coffee was not good. There were lots of staff - so service today was fast. Although need to work on communication skills, like listening to the customers requests and advise expectations. Just a commercial chain cafe attached to Mitre10 so lacks atmosphere - does look over the garden section.

Didn’t even stay for a coffee as the service was appalling. Got a good morning from the girl behind the counter to be told someone will be with you shortly then proceeded to serve the people behind us. Unacceptable. Will never be back and take our business elsewhere….

I find this one hard to rate; whilst the setting and service were superb, the food was hit and miss for me. One thing I would definitely recommend are the potato donuts, they were unlike anything I’d ever had before and so moorish. Our mains and desserts, however, looked amazing but fell short in taste. Overall, still a lovely experience but I think I’d just stick to drinks and snacks next time!

We ate at the Mission Estate Winery for dinner, and had an incredible experience! The Mission Estate Winery is the oldest winery in New Zealand. It was founded by French missionaries who brought grape vines with them when they came in 1838. The French missionaries established a mission station in 1851 in the Hawkes Bay region, and that was the beginning of the Mission Estate Winery. The building and the surrounding landscaping are beautiful. There are also great views of the city and grapevines in the background. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside as it was a beautiful night. Service was fantastic--attentive, but not intrusive. Our waiter was very informative and able to answer all of our questions. We ordered two of their wines to accompany our dinner, a cabernet/merlot for my husband and a pinot noir for me. Both were excellent. We ended up coming back the next day to buy a bottle of the cabernet/merlot as a gift. We ordered the garlic, truffle and cheese ciabetta, which was flavorful and had a lot of cheese. I ordered the seafood chowder as my starter. We have been travelling in New Zealand for the past 5 weeks, and I have ordered seafood chowder several times--this was the BEST seafood chowder I have had in New Zealand. My husband ordered the lamb loin as his main and I ordered the Hawkes Bay Fresh fish of the day. Both were excellent--the fish was flaky and flavorful, while my husband's lamb was served with a wine jus and wonderful. We also ordered the potato doughnuts for the table, and they were SO good! We finished up our meal with the salted caramel truffles--six homemade truffles that were amazing! We would highly recommend the Mission Estate restaurant for a delicious dinner in a beautiful setting!

Highlight of my hens weekend away. Beautiful historic place. Wine tasting was delicious. Learnt a little more about flavors and tasting.

Really good food, good coffee and nice location. Unfortunately one abrupt older staff member serving brings a downer on the experience...

Food was delicious and fast to come out to us, although the cashier was new and let us know she was training she was very friendly and efficient.

We stopped in for lunch with our kids and probably should have moved on. First, the nearest toilet is two blocks away. When kids tell you they need a toilet, you generally don't have time for walking. Second, the kids food arrived scalding hot. Luckily, we always check before letting them at a plate. The adult food was nice enough. All of our meals looked great, including perfectly poached eggs. However, I found my salmon bagel to be annoying as I had to deconstruct it to spread the cream cheese and reconstruct it again. I would have preferred it to either be DIY presentation or be opinionated and ready to eat. Finally, the smoothies were disappointing. I'm not sure if there was a mistake in the order, but the banana smoothie seemed to lack fruit and were very milky. Did we get milkshakes by accident?

Staff is friendly, but the environment is not that great and the espresso I had was only so-so. stopped there because I've had the all press espresso before and liked it a lot, not sure why it didn't turn out that good this time ...

Steak, cheese and bacon pie amazing! One of the best pies I've had in a very long time! Also a great cafe with a wide selection of food options.

I can see why the eggs Benedict is their signature dish. Absolutely superb and gluten free. Also loved the fact that a half serve was on offer- the perfect size. My mocha was delicious, not too sweet and with coffee art. Would return in a heartbeat.

Had an amazing breakfast there on Jan 3. The coffee was incredible and complemented the exquisite breakfast. So much so that 10 of us went back back the next day. The choice of full and half portions is a wonderful idea.

Delicious food, awesome coffee and really cool vibe. Really wish there was a place like this in Sydney. Service was friendly - but a slight mix up with our tables order was made up for with a couple of bonus ginger cakes. Thanks.

With the fires blazing on a cold November day this place was really cozy. The nice staff made us feel really welcome and explained the menu, and we both ordered a lighter bite. I enjoyed my calzone and my other half enjoyed the corn fritter although the portion was a little small. None the less we enjoyed it here.

Ate here 31-12_16. We were a large group of 15. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Food was very good with a good interesting menu. Half portions available and for some of our group that was enough while others mixed and matched. Best coffee!

We went to several places that were supposed to have the best coffee in the general Napier area, but we found it here at Groove Kitchen Espresso. This is easily some of the best coffee we've had in New Zealand! These also have an incredible salmon bennie served on a potato cake. This place is a gem and should be much busier than it is.

Excellent coffee and food as per usual. However never in my life have I had such an unpleasant customer service experience. I met my 3 friends at Fuse, one had ordered before we got there.When my friend inquired about her coffee after we had all been served our drinks except her, the new lady there with a foreign accent spoke so rudely/abrubtly "no, you didn't order coffee!" and "you havn't paid me!" and denied serving my friend, at this point my friend even offered to show her her bank statement proof and she said "yes" (this is a $4 coffee, are you kidding me) . After my friend showed her that she had indeed ordered (20 minutes beforehand) she still maintained "well I didn't serve you" and gave no apology . Her lovely co-worker was pleasant, apologetic, and gave my friend a complementary coffee, but this was not her mistake to fix. Will me and my friends be returning customers? NO, never

Overrated café. Nice architecture, decent selection but expensive and uncomfortable. I paid $24.90 for mince on toast - the menu said poached ‘eggs’ but they only serve one egg and mine was overdone. I asked for ‘no butter’ and watched the open kitchen as the chef made it as usual then had to remake it… and just let the egg sit there and get overcooked then reconstructed it and served it - I complained and they did make another egg with an acceptable yolk but it’s just a bit crap if your paying a premium. Just charge less, serve less mince and the two promised eggs cooked properly. The mince was ok - but way too much of it. I liked that they had water dispensers and the staff were very kind… but it’s just not somewhere I would want to eat again. Not that it matters, but I also despised the artwork. Trite.

Only tried the coffee here. Not a bad brew, good flavour, and strength, only problem was not hot enough . Food in the cabinet all looked fresh & delicious. Lots of seating available both inside & out.

Nice place for breakfast. I tried flat white, good with moderate strength. Wide range of food in cabinet. I have salmon panini, also good but nothing special. My friend has breakfast on tennyson, it looks good!

I enjoyed the coffee and the coffee & walnut slice. Although on a sweeter side, it was exactly what I was looking for . The service was lovely also. The bathroom is clean. The cafe is very close to the beach front.

We were told the egg bennie here is good with nice creamy hollandaise. And they were absolutely right. Both the salmon and bacon varieties were deliss. Friendly no fuss staff.

I came here with 4 people, friendly staff, decent place but we sat upstairs and it wasn’t very clean. Some of the things we had were the pasta and the squid which was enjoyed. I had the eggs Benedict which would have been good if the eggs weren’t overcooked which is very disappointing for a cafe. The last thing one of us had was the burger, this was very soggy at the bottom and “tasted like a dish cloth”. They were shocked someone could make a burger inedible.

The Artisan Cafe is a lovely spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. It has a really cute and relaxed vibe, and the decor adds a lot of charm to the space. It’s definitely a place where you can sit back and unwind. That said, the coffee itself is unfortunately quite average—it doesn’t stand out as much as the ambiance does. However, if you’re looking for a cozy and inviting place to relax, this cafe is a great choice!

I would recommend ,going to this cafe. Lovely fresh food, you can order from a menu or cabinet. Staff go above and beyond in customer service. Clean and tidy. I took a client on the 29/09/2025, who’s in a wheelchair, the staff couldn’t off been more helpful. They also had 2 entries, that was wheelchair accessible. Sorry didn’t take any photos. We will been returning. You can dine inside or outside.

This cafe possibly makes the best seafood chowder in Napier, it was so delicious. Great portion size and great value for money. The service was fantastic and the outdoor seating on a balmy Napier day is just perfect.

The Artisan Cafe Is a great cafe with great service. Walking in I am kindly greeted by a staff member who is patient and kind as I make my mind up about what to order. The music in the background and the decor of the place gives an amazing vibe, allowing for the perfect place to relax. The food and coffee are great!

Really enjoy this family owned cafe. Owners are friendly and efficient. Coffee is great and chef will change any aspect of the meals to suit the customers taste. The cabinet food looks just as great as it tastes! My new regular!

This isn’t a pretentious place, and I had no high expectations — but I was pleasantly surprised! 🥚✨ Perfectly cooked eggs and and tasty sweets from the counter 🍩☕☕.

Do not buy food here! If you, for whatever reason, happen to find yourself buying food here check for mould prior to eating. My elderly father wanted cake not blue cheese. Very dissatisfied with the service and coffees were cold. This used to be a very nice cafe to come to with my elderly parents. Such a shame that this is what we have to experience when already paying top dollar for bottom tier food and service.

This is by far the BEST Cafe in Napier! Great service, and always with a smile. Fantastic food, and a wonderful environment with Art Deco Buildings all around you. Food and drinks here are at high standard. Many fine details bring the food to the next level, herbal flavor in the tomato sauce and fragrance of the lemon actually surprised me

I stopped in for a latte that was one of the best I have had in a while. It was very strong but I love it that way. Then I had to try a lolly cake. I had read that this is a unique thing in New Zealand and wanted to try one. It is like a brownie with lollies baked inside. It is very sweet and could only eat a small portion of it but enjoyed the experience.

Nice cafe on the main strip, however the 3 star review is due to the lengthy delay between ordering our food and receiving our food. Fortunately we weren’t in a rush, however we were starving by the time the food arrived… 45 minutes later. Staff had to be asked multiple times for its status. There’s a large outdoor section which is great for sunny days. The coffee was good, nothing special and the prices were as expected.

Stopped in Cappadonna for breakfast, place was packed so knew they made good food and coffee. I had big breakfast (minus the sausage & bacon) substituted with mushrooms and x2 extra hash browns, and my wife had BLT breakfast. Was a delicious,filling meal. We sat outside plenty of tables available, inside they had about 4 or 5 seating tables. They are bit pricey than other spots we’ve eaten at but the food and prompt service made it worthwhile. Highly recommended.

Great value for sandwiches, pastries and meat pies! Also we agree with another review that they had the best meat pies so far on our NZ road trip. We got the mini minced pie, curry chicken pie and cranberry salad sandwich. The sandwich was good. The coffee was just ok but I liked the amount of options. There's also a full menu of egg dishes as well. Pies and sandwiches range from $3-$7 NZD. I would recommend and visit again!

My oh my! What a fabulous little coffee shop on the corner of Clive Square. Absolutely marvelous food and such kind of service, especially by the FOH tall white girl, she is absolutely lovely and helped me decide between meal choices. The muffins are absolutely superb! Definitely worth a stop on your morning walk

After parking the camper we wanted a walk into town, very easy from campsite only 25 mins found Bay coffee hub although we had a tea and a savoury muffin both very nice and tasty

Nice hidden gem with spreading drinks, amazing baked goods and full breakfast/lunch options. Lots of outdoor seating. Easy walk to the beach. We had soy flat whites, eggs Benedict, a salmon gluten-free crepe, and a biscoff slice. All excellent. We enjoyed sitting outdoors under an umbrella.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient, made it a joy to eat there. The surroundings were very clean and well set out and the food was sensational with a great range to choose between.

Small entrance tucked in beside Top 10 Holiday Park reception. Narrow room with displays, counter. Walk thru slider opp counter, outside is as big as a garden bar! IE large! Nice toilets at the rear of the inside room.

Nice little coffee shop, creative muffins. Kitchen is closdd Mon-Tues for a la carte meals, but their cabinet food is fresh & delicious.

Visiting Napier and thought we would call in for breakfast before heading off for a tiki tour. Food was pretty good but unfortunately the service I received wasn’t. As I handed over my money for payment, the young lady commented “Is this money even real?” to which I replied , Pardon, why wouldn’t it be?. She wouldn’t make eye contact or comment further when I questioned her, which was very off putting, so Im puzzled as to why she made the comment in the first place. If she had have really thought that, I believe she should have done it in a more professional manner. First impressions last. We definitely wont be back.

In the heart of ahuriri is a well located cafe that had great food and great service. - Noshanator all day breakfast 8.9/10 Had everything you need for a decent brunch. Love how they toast the cibatta, it goes well with everything on the plate. Would perfer the mushroom sauce as opposed to the onions and mushrooms that were on the plate. It's still very good. - Creamy mushroom and bacon on cibatta. 9.5/10 They don't spare on the mushroom sauce and have amazing smell when served. It's not a heavy dish but the right size for brunch.

Great little cafe. I like their big breakfast - The Noshinator, really good portions. Smoothies are delicious as well. The host and servers are friendly. Only downside is having no restroom, but that's not necessarily a deal-breaker. Would recommend.

Visited Café Nosh for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. What impressed us was that, even though they were two staff down, the food and coffee arrived hot and in good time! The staff didn’t stop serving and clearing tables to make sure the customers were happy. The food and coffee were delicious too!

The food was appalling. I ordered the Salmon Bagel. The salmon came in an oily, overcooked block. It tasted bad. The meal supposedly came with capers and cream cheese but neither was anywhere to be found. The onion rings tasted like it had been cooked in the forbidden ancient oil from 1999. The garnish and seasoning for some reason was on the side of the plate?? My friends big breakfast was oily, underwhelming and over priced too. And to top it all off the coffee was bad aswell. Not a nice experience to spend $55 on and by the end of it still have not eaten anything. Please don’t come here, you will regret it.

Normally I enjoy coming for a coffee and something to eat. Mushrooms on toast is awesome. There are pictures of dogs covering one wall. So today I thought I would take my new puppy for a walk and get a coffee. I stood inside the cafe in the queue for several minutes waiting to order my coffee when I got to order the lady behind said sorry we have strict policy of no dogs. I said I wanted a takeaway coffee and she said sorry no dogs. Now I can understand if there was a sign at the door, saying no dogs or the second I went inside someone came and said something but to wait inside and talk for over 5mins. Where's the common sense?

Yesterday, I purchased a coffee from a bakery in town. It was like warm milk! So I drove out to Taradale to get on from your Cafe. I asked for a small size but double shot. It was as bad, if not worse than the previous one! Weak and milky. The lady serving was lovely, bright and bubbly but the guy making the coffee was as grumpy as hell. After 2 disappointments, I went home and made a Nescafe Expresso!

Bay Espresso Taradale is the best bay espresso location in Hawkes Bay. Been a solid coffee shop for years now, when in Taradale this is probably the only place to go to!

We are regular to this cafe and try a different dish each time. I must say it was slightly overpriced for loaded fries at $24 but was tasty. We had the one with pulled pork. Mango smoothie was to die for.

Loaded Fries are to DIE for!!!! Staff are amazing and the indoor/ outdoor seating is so nice x would love to sit in for a Kai and drink next time ❤️ Much love team. Keep up the good work x

The best Avo on toast in Napier, and perfect coffee; it’s in the centre of town and only two minutes to the beach!

We had a few excellent coffees here. It seems a busy place with indoor and outdoor seating. Specially on a nice day it’s great to soak up the vibrancy of downtown Emeron Street. Hans is their main barista guy and makes most likely the best coffee in town. And he is a local personality. Some interesting cabinet food items available. Highly recommended!

Our cruise ship brought us to Napier. We went on a Gannet Safari in the morning and found this place for lunch. I had the beef burger and my wife had the loaded fries, both were excellent! I highly recommend this place for a meal or they do have coffee and some other pastries.

A nice cafe to go to for breakfast, but there are better options around. Cafe was minimalistic in terms of decorationing, but not unpleasant, just nothing exciting. The food was nice, and looked great, but the eggs we had for breakfast were slightly overdone, so not overly runny on both the eggs Benedict and the big breakfast. That was the only complaint about the food though, as everything else was great. The service was good, and managed to negotiate around our errant toddlers who seemed to like playing musical chairs while waiting for food.

I got a pumpkin soup yet it was yellow and didn’t taste good at all. I don’t even think there was pumpkin in it. So whether it was mixed up or simply just wrong. It tasted like the hospital and I was very disappointed

My wife and I enjoyed one of the best chunky steak & pepper pies that we have ever eaten and they also make a very good cup of coffee. All for a very reasonable price. Very popular, so always take that as a sign of good food. Highly recommend to all locals and tourists alike

The pie is good and generous. The tasting temperature is perfect. The strong point of this Bakery is the wide choice of flavours. Prices are reasonable (around 6$)

Chicken, cranberry and cream cheese pie was amazing. My partner got the mince and cheese pie and he loved it. Went at it with his hands like a heathen he like it so much. They have a huge selection, pies, sandwiches, slices and baking. I'm definitely going back. Great location, not too far from my work, so might become a regular 😄

I ordered mince on toast 12/09/2025 with a poached egg. And the mince was literally the mince you use to make your pies!!! Had this been told to me when I asked about it I would have chose to buy another meal instead. I feel that you need to be more specific about the food you are selling because I actually expected proper mince on toast not sluggy mince that you make your pies with. I usually come to your bakery weekly and this was disappointing. And then we didn't even get butter for our toast until we asked for it. How disappointing!

Despite the south-east Asian name, this is the most European-Kiwi food you can find. I grew up in New Zealand in the 1970s/80s, and whenever I visit, I crave a pie, a sausage roll, a sandwich, a milkshake, or any of my childhood favourite cakes or biscuits. Angkor Wat is the first place I go after getting off the plane, except for baggage claim of course. I wish they’d open a shop in Canada.

Visited last week when on holiday in Napier. Their array of food is absolutely stunning with multitudes of fresh sandwiches, filled rolls, hot pies etc. They even had my old time flavoured steak and kidney pies, yummy 😋. I pre ordered ten prior to leaving Napier 😋 and they are now safe in my freezer. There are many varieties of pies all very full. The service was outstanding 👏 with was great to see. I would certainly recommend Angkor Wat bakery to you. Ps, it's situated in an old movie theater that was called The State. I saw many movies there when I grew up in Napier.

Good cafe with tasty food and pleasant staff. Has your standard cafe breakfast options and what we had was executed well. Good quality chorizo on the chilli scramble gives a really nice exciting twist on scrambled eggs. Smoothies were a little hit and miss, snickers smoothie was delicious, but the very berry smoothie was a little bit bland and watery. Creamy mushrooms were good, nothing wrong with them but didn't quite excite us as much as other creamy mushrooms have. Very enjoyable breakfast and would return when in Napier again. Nice bit of outside seating space. Street parking straight outside the cafe where you can park for 2 hours

The cafe is very charming and has a cosy atmosphere, but I'm not a fan of the unfriendly staff. I gave it two chances, but it just doesn't feel too welcoming. Food is mostly good, with the exception of their stodgy, underbaked yoghurt cake. When I commented on it, I was told that's what yoghurt cake was supposed to be like. I guess the lady assumed I had never baked and that I didn't know what it's supposed to taste like. Not fan of being talked down to either.

felt unwelcome and awkward.. was told to take a seat at a dirty table but nobody came to clear it? so cleared up the plates and handed to the girl at the front.. “I’m busy” she says then rudely grabs the plates from my hands. Same attitude when giving our food. Unfortunately it wasn’t just us that received the same kind of treatment.. food & coffee was nice but the blonde waitress let the experience down.

Source is one of our local coffee stops. The team there is so friendly, and has made the effort to learn our names, and our coffee orders. They check in with us about our week and miss us when we don't stop in. The coffee is good, but the team is best. Let's be honest, when someone puts the effort in to be truly hospitable, it really makes the experience. Thanks to the team for being so wonderful.

I've been coming 😁 here for sometime over the decade I've lived here in the Hawkes Bay. Change of ownership a few times. The wholefood focus has dropped somewhat away. You can still get a gd choice of alternative milks. 80c extra. The sandwiches are made with store bought bread But still healthy and fresh. Some salads are available. Smoothies Otherwise standard Nz diet Bakery/Lunch bar/ Café fare You can also order meals Reasonably priced Recommended Kiwi classic cafe playlist for improving vibe. It is a large cafe in Taradale be good to see it bustling again.

Had very poor service here today. Barista felt she was too important to bring a jug of hot water to a 90 year old woman for her coffee. I thought a little jug of hot water was normal to get with a strong black coffee ☕. Manager and rest of staff and food very good. If you don't want to help people don't work in a service industry. Have just read your reply below maybe listen to problems and improve instead of blaming the person who came to you with an issue. The vast number of my reviews have high star ratings and positive comments even with your property I gave an honest review with positive comments for the food and most people. But one person with one act made our meal very uncomfortable

This is a super convenient cafe for a quick visit or to get some work done. There is a great miix of table sizes and even some nice big sofas to relax on. The serve the best coffee in the bay and have a great selection of cabinet food to support their menu. They are pet friendly, so a great stop if you are travelling with your doggo

Lovely little cafe set in a business hub with cool food. If you have dairy allergies and want something different to drink, then try here where they offer superfood lattes. I had a delicious Turmeric Latte with almond milk. There is a choice of cabinet food and blackboard menu. The seating was really quirky and parking is available at the back of the building if there's none out front. So why not stop here while doing business in Ahuriri, or just want something nice in a modern setting.

Very filling 3 egg omelet, cheese, bacon, mushrooms.. would Def recommend. If I was being super picky it was only that my coffee was Luke warm.. but the place was very busy and short staffed so understandable..

Great range for keto ! But I was a bit disappointed I got a butter chicken pie it was yummy and the pastry was great, but it was a bit soggy because of microwaving I work in a cafe in Wellington and I recommend an air fryer. your food will be heated and crispy in under 2 minutes! But lovely staff and I will be trying new options again :)

Very convenient but the owner or girl at service desk with the Pink hair is not a very friendly person. She obviously were not having a good day and sorry to say this reflects very badly on her bussiness. She treated me and my friend very abruptly when we asked for more butter on the very dry savoury muffin. Some tasty food but very expensive.. I will really think again before I support that cafe again.

This place is Totally amazing. Keto heaven. My friend was up from Wellington and we went for lunch and were blown away by the fantastic range of products and everything looked stunning. Beca and her team were extremely helpful and took the time to answer all our questions. It was hard to make up our mind so we tried several times between us. My favourite savoury item was the chicken and cheese pie. I even took one home and 4mins in the Air fryer the next day for lunch and I'd challenge anyone to pick it was a keto pie. My favourite sweet sugarfree product was a draw between the bounty bar slice and the raspberry chocolate slice. Napier's best kept secret for sure.

I was recommended trying urban deli on a recent trip to Napier. It was so good I went back most days! This is hands down the best keto food I have found. Lovely staff also. Keep up the great work guys! PS please start couriering your keto savoury muffins to Auckland please!

Great exceptionally amazing fresh food, friendly service. Came out super fast and hot every time. The head chef is always looking like he's out in the cafe wanting to take away plates so new people can be seated or he's lacking in spare plates though which on the up side is fun to watch. Highly recommend this amazing place witch has awesome coffee also

Had an iced coffee, sadly tasted like milk only. The French toast itself was tasty, bacon awesome but the whole plate came soaked in maple syrup. Wayyy too sweet my teeth hurt. Kind of disappointed for that price. Might be good for a takeaway flat white and a cabin muffin.

A very welcome place for having coffee on a rainy day. Lovely atmosphere. Small coffee 5,50$, large coffee 6$. 😊

What a pity! I thought I’d found the perfect little café to sit and work for a while. I even asked if it was ok. I ordered brunch and three XL coffees, and was planning to stick around for lunch too. But after just two hours the owner came over, was super rude, and basically chased me out. Honestly, such a shame, because the staff were lovely, the food was great, and the coffee was spot-on. But the owner completely ruined the vibe, and I won’t be going back.

Really nice place. Went here during a short visit to see family. Had a really nice open steak sandwich. I'm used to my steak a bit rarer than this but I'm no expert on steak sandwiches so it might be the norm. Very great portion of chips with it too. Really enjoyed the chocolate milkshake!

Absolutely amazing service and exceptional food! The coffee was made perfect even though was quite complicated. And the breakfast is the best tasting food i have ever had. The bubble and squeak better than my grandmas!!!

I must say I keep coming back for your salads because they tastes so goooood. I love it when you let me mix and match different salads on one plate. Quite reasonable prices. Very generous portions too. Tasty. Great service and the amazing coffee I had in ages 👌 I love the ambience too. Cozy inside and has a option to sit outside if you feel like watching the world go by while sipping the coffee. I will surely be back again.
