Nestled in the heart of Grosseto, the Palazzo Aldobrandeschi stands as a stunning testament to the region's rich history and architectural beauty. This neo-Gothic masterpiece, completed in 1903 and designed by renowned Tuscan architect Lorenzo Porciatti, draws inspiration from medieval Sienese styles. Its striking asymmetrical facade showcases a blend of travertine and brick, while Renaissance-style windows adorned with marble consoles add an elegant touch.

The Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, also known as the Grosseto Cathedral, is a 13th-century Catholic place of worship located in Grosseto. The cathedral features a notable facade made of white and black marble layers, with most of it being the result of restorations in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Amazing structure in old city centre in Grosseto.

Piazza Dante in Grosseto is a tranquil, historically rich square that has preserved its authentic atmosphere. It is dominated by the 13th-century Cathedral of Saint Lawrence and the neo-Gothic Palazzo Aldobrandeschi, the seat of the province. At its center stands the statue of Grand Duke Leopold II, known as Canapone, symbolizing the reclamation of the Maremma region. The square is unassuming, lacking bustling cafés or restaurants, which enhances its peaceful character. It is an ideal spot for those seeking a quiet pause and wishing to savor the historical ambiance of the city.

Castle
Cassero Senese of Grosseto is a 14th-century defensive bulwark integrated into a military citadel by the Medici. It features storage for weapons and food, a hospital, garrison accommodation, gunboats, and a parade ground with an octagonal well. The city walls of Grosseto are well-preserved and have been continually modified since the 12th century.

The Archaeological Museum and Art of Maremma, located in Grosseto's historic center, is a stately museum showcasing archaeological exhibits from Roselle and a collection of medieval artwork with religious themes. The museum is housed in the Palazzo Corboli, a magnificent 12th-century palace that has been refurbished to accommodate the Museo d'Arte Sacra e Archeologico.
The collection of Etruscan artifacts is amazing and the visit gives a wonderful overall view of the development of Etruscan civilization in the area with many descriptions and historical references. But what is absolutely amazing is the kindness and the knowledge of all the young people in charge of the reception that do not hesitate to leave their site to come next to you and help understanding what is on exhibition. Particularly expert and kind the guy on last floor dedicated to medieval arts…. He came to help us understanding the particular importance of two masterpieces , one of them the Madonna delle ciliegie a sublime painting from Sassetta ! A joy to be welcomed there by the smile and kind attitude of young people passionate of art !
Julia S — Google review
The museum itself is really worth visiting, with fascinating exhibitions and a lot to discover. However, if Italian or English is not your first language, it can sometimes be difficult to fully follow along. Each room has only a general introduction in English, while most of the detailed information is in Italian. Even though I speak both languages fairly well, the specialized archaeological vocabulary is not always easy to understand. The English audioguide could also be improved. It was sometimes hard to stay synchronized with the content, as it often restarted or lost my place, and there was no clear numbering system to match the stories with specific objects. This made it tricky at times to know exactly which exhibit the guide was referring to. Overall, it’s a very good museum with great potential, and with a few improvements to translations and the audioguide system, the visitor experience would be even better.
Jurgita S — Google review
This museum has a stunning collection of Etruscan artifacts! The beautiful art is perfect for a visit to see 200 year old sculpture, ceramic and bronze Etruscan creations, and gorgeous life-sized Roman marble sculptures! I definitely recommend a visit!

Amazing museum if you are interested in etruschi's it is a must. Big enough to enjoy good 2 hours. At the top floor there is a good representation of sacre art even if I am not particularly in love with that it is nice to spend 30 minutes there. The staff was nice and helpful not particularly busy in a summer morning.

The Museum of Natural History of the Maremma is situated in the heart of Grosseto, specifically in Piazza della Palma. Housed in a building that was once a civil home and later transformed into a secular school named Vittorio Emanuele, this museum has been an integral part of the city since its inauguration in 1879. With three floors, including two dedicated to exhibitions, it offers an engaging experience for visitors.
Pleasant place to visit. Takes about one hour. Reasonably good English signage. Buttons to hear the songs of various birds are an interesting feature. Inexpensive.

(Translated by Google) Interactive natural history museum right in the center of Grosseto. Easy to reach by leaving your car just outside the city walls. The museum isn't huge, but it spans three floors with exhibits on earth and life sciences. The top floor features an interactive section with many stuffed animals whose sounds can be heard in nature. Very fun for kids. I didn't give it 5 stars because some rooms could be better utilized. You can easily explore the entire museum in an hour. The family ticket at €12 is very good value.

(Translated by Google) Very nice museum to discover many curiosities of the Maremma. My 5 year old children really liked it, they had fun discovering the different species of animals and rocks, listening to the sounds made by certain types of animals, playing with a Twister-type carpet. If you have a free hour it's a nice stop to make with the children.

(Translated by Google) Nice and well-designed. Not overly large, but with plenty of interesting displays and well-presented facts. A bit of interactivity also delighted the children. Most of the text is only in Italian, but Google Translate helps with that. Plan on about 1.5 hours maximum. Admission is inexpensive. Man sollte ca. 1.5 Stunden maximal einplanen. Der Eintritt ist günstig.

(Translated by Google) This small but comprehensive Natural History Museum is dedicated to the Maremma region, with an in-depth focus on local fauna, flora, and geology. The multimedia stations, with videos and interactive explanations, are well-designed and accessible even to elementary school children, making the visit an engaging experience for the whole family. The section dedicated to stuffed animals and dioramas is meticulously crafted and offers a compelling representation of the area's typical natural environments. Some scenic effects, such as the sound section dedicated to animal sounds (especially birds) and the dark room with a lifeline that lights up as you walk through, are particularly evocative and are a favorite with children. The only downside was finding some interactive stations not working during our visit. Nevertheless, the museum can be visited independently and can be completed in about an hour, making it an excellent choice for a pleasant family visit. We haven't had the chance to try it, but we're sure that an educational visit for schools or a guided tour with one of the museum's experts could be very interesting.

Thanks to daughter Chiara and her lovely mom and dad for a sensational experience eating the best pizza we found in Italy, especially because the father takes such effort making the finest dough, then mom bakes the pizzas in a genuine wood fired brick oven. They were so good we returned for lunch and had equally great pasta. Highly recommend this family run true Italian restaurant and if you're English speaking and lucky enough to meet Chiara, a bright college student fluent in English, all the better. This is a fabulous place with an excellent choice of pizzas. We had one innominata which comes with grilled eggplant and fresh cherry tomatoes and one specialty pizza with porcini mushrooms and creme di tartufo. Wow! Both were superb with a thin perfectly cooked crust. It was scrumptious. The interior is light and spacious though not large. Simple decor that looks modern and clean and a wonderful pillar in the center. There are white tablecloths with chocolate brown napkins. The house red wine was tasty. Our waitress Ciara was a delight and spoke perfect English! It is really worth having a pizza here. Reasonably priced, friendly and delicious. What more could you ask for!

What an amazing place in the heart of Maremma, geographically and historically. Good food. Good drinks. Wonderful scenery. Do not forget the mosquito repellent!

Hidden under the famous marble mines of the Etruscan town of Roselle. This venue is one of the highlights of summer in southern Tuscany. The concerts are well organised and the catering, staging and seating is impressive. Suggest dining before the concert with local food and wine. Very reasonably priced and a memorable summer Tuscan evening.

When visiting the charming city of Grosseto, Avis Autonoleggio stands out as a reliable choice for car rentals. Rental prices are quite reasonable, starting at around 30 per day, making it accessible for various budgets.
Pick up and drop off were quick and easy. They didn’t have the car I reserved, so gave me a free upgrade. Car was nice, no issues whatsoever.
Ryan M — Google review
Please do not rent from this agency. They provided the wrong car, paid for more than what was provided, and the car was filthy, could not see out of the windshield. In addition, the car was over priced for what I paid, and then after I dropped the car off, the company charged me for 5 more days than I had rented it for and took the money out of my account and will not speak to me about it. They say someone will call me back in 7 to 14 business days while they have fraudulently taken money out of my account when I was out of the country for those five days that they say I had the car!
Alison G — Google review
Went there more than once and the experience has always been bad. The main guy at the reception desk should definitely change job, as his ways with customers are unpleasant, to say the least. They don't clean the cars, do not even do the most basic of checks and do not care of anything. They are there just to take your money and don't bother with anything else. Plus, they absurdly close every weekday from 12:30 to 4:00 pm, so you cannot pick up or return the vehicle in those hours. And they are open only until 12:30 on Saturday and close on Sunday. If you have other choices, DON'T GO THERE!!!
JG A — Google review
Easy to book a car. Helpful staff and return of car was painless too.
Sue L — Google review
3000 years of long lunches/siesta culture means that if your train is late, and it ALWAYS is, you will spend 3 1/2 hours waiting in an ugly car park. And no entreaty by phone or email will help you. I would avoid Avis Grosseto unless you can work around their old-fashioned Italian working hours. Provincial Italy has not changed at all since I first started coming here in 1983.

Do not rent any car from this company. I rented a car, but before i took a video. After I return de car I received a email by hertz saying that the car was damaged. I sent the video showing that the car was already damaged before i took it but any way they charged me. I went back at the store and they said they could not do anything to undo the mistake they did. Terrible attendance. Now I am trying every email from hertz without any look someone respond.

(Translated by Google) I highly do not recommend it. There was a problem with payment on site, it was impossible to pay with a debit card, or even in cash, or try to pay with a card other than that of the person listed as the driver. We spent 2 hours at the rental company trying to explain the situation as we were warned that otherwise we would have to pay a fine for not showing up to pick up the booked car, which is also absurd as we arrived and the problem was with the rental company and their terminal. Ultimately, we went to a competitor, where the car rental took 10 minutes and the payment went through without any problems. I highly do not recommend it (Original) Bardzo nie polecam. Ostatecznie poszliśmy do konkurencji, gdzie wypożyczenie auta trwało 10 minut i płatność przeszła bez problemu. Ogromnie nie polecam

(Translated by Google) In mid-April 2025, due to a problem on the railway line, I found myself forced to rent, at the last minute, a car to get to Rome Fiumicino. After having agreed by phone and in the office on the rate and the return of the car in a different place from the pick-up (among other things I had been told that "I was doing a favor" since the car would have had to return to Rome anyway for checks) I quickly signed the contracts and left for Fiumicino, perhaps with too much superficiality and trust in the Hertz operator. Once I arrived at my destination, when returning the car, the bitter surprise, the Hertz employee in Fiumicino pointed out to me that the car had to be returned to Grosseto. So for the return to a different Hertz station I would have had to add about 100 euros. I immediately contacted the Grosseto office who was not available to resolve the problem. WC closed for non-guests, even for children. Shame on you. UPDATE: Update from the owner after 2 days is a lie. I asked twice to open the bathroom for my child, proposed 1 Euro as well. But, they are ugly people, the women on the cash desk looked at me with clean eyes and just said NO, on the doors on bathroom was written- gests only. Markus K — Google review
The scenery is beautiful and there are possibly nice hiking paths (most were closed to visitors). The Maremma region is also full of points of interest and is well worth a visit. However, we were disappointed with the management of the park. We had to buy a ticket for each trail that we wanted to hike or cycle on. It was not possible to purchase a combined ticket for multiple tours. In summer, only guided tours are available. During our visit, most of these were cancelled due to horseflies, leaving us with a visit to the beach as the only viable alternative. The park is also poorly connected to the surrounding area, especially if you are planning to reach it by bike. Busy 'strade provinciali' are often the only available routes, and the few cycle paths are hardly signposted.

Rocca di Frassinello is a renowned winery in Tuscany, Italy, designed by the acclaimed architect Renzo Piano. It is a joint venture between Italian and French partners, with its vineyards evenly split between Italian and French grape varieties. The estate offers year-round visits for guests to explore its identity and enjoy wine tastings. Situated along the old Aurelia road, this chic winery seamlessly blends antique charm with contemporary elegance.
We had a great experience at Rocca di Frassinello. On the way there, we blew a tire on the very bumpy access road—just a heads-up for future visitors. The staff were incredibly helpful: they picked us up, offered to help contact a mechanic, and got us to the winery safely. Since some of our group had to stay behind with the car, they missed the full tour, but the team kindly showed them the cellar before the tasting so they could still enjoy part of it. Beautiful place, great wine, very kind people—and they speak excellent English, which made everything much easier. Thanks again!

Spiaggia Marina di Grosseto is a stunning stretch of wide golden sands, catering to both those seeking a more organized beach experience and those craving a wilder atmosphere. Visitors in October can enjoy the warm sea, light winds, and uncrowded shores, creating an incredible sense of space and tranquility. The beach offers a natural beauty that shines during winter but remains well-organized for summer tourists while preserving protected areas in their natural state.

The beach itself is lovely, very clean with warm water. There are many beach clubs with reserved spaces on the beach, but between these there are short spaces that are free for members of the public. Keep walking and you will find space. As someone else said, there are some jellyfish in the sea, but not many and we were not affected at all. There is public parking right by the beach but you have to pay. I would recommend parking for free on the roadside on the way into marina di Grosseto, where all of the trees are and then taking the short 10-minute walk to the beach.

Nice beach with clean sand and clear, warm water. As others have said, the beach, which is around 2 miles long, alternates between free sections and "private" sections where you can rent umbrellas and loungers. It's worth comparing prices for these though - the first one we asked was 22€ all day (for 2 loungers+umbrella) but just a bit further along, another place was only 12€ for the day. There are a few places to buy drinks and snacks too. See the photos for parking prices - paid parking was not unreasonable but you can park for free on the road which is only 2-3 minutes walk. A great place to relax and on a weekday in mid-September, not very busy.

(Translated by Google) Lovely cozy beach. Plenty of choice for chair rental, but we took the public beach without chairs. This can be reached directly via the parking lot. In June there was plenty of room, especially during the week. Pleasant crowds, no antisocial behavior. Everything is quiet. We only heard Italians, almost no Northern Europeans. There are a number of nice beach bars for meals, cocktails, etc., without it becoming too commercial. Parking 10m from the beach! €5 for a day ticket or €1 per hour. So great. This was an absolute fantastic experience! We had the best time. Matteo provided us with great indications on how to get to the winery. He was polite and the best part of the experience! Great level of languages as he spoke to us both in perfect Spanish and English. The vineyards were mesmerizing and beautiful scenery and we got to go around and learn about the history and properties of the land and production of the wine. We then enjoyed the 6 wine tasting which was fantastic. Matteo brought out a great variety of Italian products to accompany the wine which was to die for. We enjoyed the wine so much we bought a whole bunch of them to bring back home. 10/10 experience, super recommended!! Thank you for everything, we loved our time and it was a key memory of our trip to Tuscany!

On the morning of September 29th, we, three friends from Vienna, Austria (no wine experts but true wine lovers), visited Tenuta Belguardo not knowing, not expecting that this would be our most memorable visit of the 6 vineries we had on our “to do-list”. Besides the beautiful location on the top of the hill with its welcoming interior it’s the people that make the difference in service! We were truly lucky and privileged that Matteo shared with us his incredible knowledge about the various aspects of winemaking at your site and in the Maremma in general. This was followed by an excellent presentation of your wines that made our tasting a wonderful experience! Thank you very much!

I could not recommend more this wine tasting experience. We had an incredible time and it was mostly thanks to the hospitality and kindness of Matteo. He spoke fluent Spanish and English which we really appreciated as group of Spanish girls. Matteo brought us a variety of wine and italian charcuterie which was absolutely delicious. He also showed us around the vineyard which was beautiful. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area and look forward to going back! Beautiful memory in tuscany!

Scenic spot
Nestled within the enchanting landscape of Diaccia Botrona, the Abbazia di San Pancrazio al Fango stands as a testament to history. Once part of Lake Prile, this area is now a protected swamp that houses remnants of Isola Clodia, an ancient Roman villa believed to have served as a docking point for Etruscan vessels. The abbey itself is built atop these historical foundations and offers stunning views over the marshlands and Castiglione della Pescaia.
(Translated by Google) What remains of Lake Prile can be seen in the swamp today called Diaccia Botrona, but not only does the protected area remain, but included in the protected area is the so-called Isola Clodia, a Roman villa, perhaps also a mooring of the Etruscan port of Vetulonia, it would seem logical, the mooring rings of the ships are still walled in the foundations, stratified above a medieval monastery, a place, also beautiful for the view you can enjoy of the Botrona ice, the only flaw is the entrance it is strictly limited to Saturdays and Sundays 9; 12pm, and in the afternoon 3.18pm. Beware of the surly and ill-mannered owner of the place.
