The 50 best cheap eats in Grosseto

I usually try to be very fair when evaluating restaurants and food, and I want to share my honest experience here. We ordered a burger with two patties and different cheeses (Il fantastico beef). The cheese combination was a bit heavy, but that was not the main issue. The real problem was the burger PATTIES themselves. They didn’t taste like authentic beef burgers at all. The texture was overly fine, heavily spiced, and came across as artificial. Honestly, it was one of the worst patties I’ve ever had — even a fast-food chain burger would have tasted better. The second dish we ordered was a steak (Gioiosa), requested medium. Unfortunately, it was served very rare — and while we do enjoy rare meat, this one was closer to raw and lacked flavor. We actually had to add salt just to make it more enjoyable. It’s really unfortunate, because the concept of the restaurant is good and the staff were polite and attentive. However, unless the quality of the ingredients improves, I fear many customers will be disappointed and not return.

Biggest burger I've ever had and enjoyed it completely, would gladly come back here again, it says something about a restaurant when two soccer teams and about another forty people walk in behind you to have dinner there. Maybe someday I can back again for another treat of this great place.

During our 12 day stay this was our favourite place to go. Good food, good atmposphere, prices are OK. No coperto and at the end we got a price rounding favourable for us. My favourite was Fantasia di mare (too bad I tried it last evening). There many choices from which one can choose, but in general fish and sea food dishes are good. Also the pizza was good with a thin and crusty dough.

6 out of 10 dishes weren't as ordered or didn't came. But we insited to not pay for some of them and we didnt have to. The food itself was quite good and the prices are fair. But the communication with the guests wasnt satisfying at all (none). Because we were a big group (10 people) we expected to get our food a bit later but all at the same time. Between the first (1 hour after the order) and the last dish it took another 1 hour.

The Pizza was good but the poor parrot in his cage near the kitchen made me very sad, i didn't expect such thing in 2021. I've had a little parrot myself and i know how sensitve they are. They need to rest a lot and a restaurant is really not a appropriate place for an animal like this.

Dinner here with my wife. We ordered a pasta dish for my wife (which she liked) and Florentine steak for myself. Fries to my steak served along with my wifes dish. She had finished, my fries cold when my steak arrived about 30minutes later. The absolute no-go - my steak was not medium but frozen inside. The waiter took it back immediately and asked another 15min if its ok that she cut it up now and the cook is grilling it again. What a heck of an experience...never again!
