Castle
History museum
Rovereto Castle stands as a majestic testament to history, perched on a rocky outcrop where the Leno River meets the city. Originally constructed in the 14th century by the Castelbarco family, it later transformed into a formidable military fortress under Venetian rule in the 15th century. The castle's impressive architecture features four robust bastions and has witnessed various dominations, including that of the Habsburgs after their victory in 1509.
A beautiful castle. It’s currently under construction, but this may impact only some of the photos you’ll take. Otherwise you can still see everything and go everywhere. There are a lot of well preserved parts. This is a combined attraction- you see both the castle and the museum of the war.
Iglika B — Google review
The castle itself is wonderful to visit, the architecture is stunning and the view of the city is incredible! (a shame that when I went there was a lot of scaffolding and many facades were covered for restoration). the staff is super kind and very helpful . The museum inside the castle is excellent, very well curated and with a huge collection and lots of interesting information, it's well worth it!
Bruno G — Google review
This was a very cool castle to visit. The museum is great lots of history from all the previous wars. With a visit and it didn't take too long to see it all.
Arthur J — Google review
It's conveniently located near the A22 motorway, making it ideal for travelers. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, comfort, and friendly staff. The hotel features modern rooms, free WiFi, and both indoor and outdoor parking. Amenities include a restaurant serving traditional cuisine, a bar, and options for a buffet or Italian-style breakfast. The location is popular among couples and business travelers, offering easy access to nearby attractions like Lake Garda.

guide was awesome and super patient with my mates and I who were SO tired and exhausted. Got to hear and see so many testimonies of WWI and reliving the place and situations was very touching. The castle has a charm that can't be replaced, definitely go visit if you have doubts

Modern art museum
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Trento and Rovereto is a building with a striking dome made of glass and steel that houses an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures. The museum offers hearing devices to help visitors fully appreciate the guide's descriptions without disturbing others. Visitors can learn about the genesis and evolution of modern art through easy-to-understand storytelling. Even those who know little about art will find the exhibits fascinating, as they showcase a wide range of intriguing works.
Totally unexpected to see such level of museum in Roveretto. By the importance of collections and architectural concepts could seem the main museum of the any big European capital. Definitely should be in your must see list.
Leyla — Google review
Great beautiful big futuristic, If you like modern art absolutely suggested to see, we were here with a group and we had a guide, entrance it’s 10 euros.. amazing experience
Luc G — Google review
A first class museum, a must visit! Showcasing stunning collections, coming from their vast archive. Offering temporary exhibition of international standing, finally curated in the magnificent interiors designed by archi star Mario Botta! Amazing fit and restaurant as well as bookstore and a variety of multimedia facilities, including Peter and areas for art workshops highly recommended
Luca G — Google review
This was a very lovely museum, the collection was very beautiful and very nicely displayed, the building itself is very beautiful. The architecture was stunning as was the works it houses inside. They have many works of art, paintings, statues, sculptures. I enjoyed my visit here and if you like art I would definitely recommend visiting this beautiful museum.
Pong L — Google review
The best museum of the Trentino-Alto Adige Region in Italy. Both it’s permanent and temporary exhibitions are fascinating. These months collector Luigi Ferri and Vincenzo Paolillo ‘ s collections are on . Both are impressive, but if you like Giorgio De Chirico ,these exhibitions will lead you to influential voyages. 1890-1960 periods of Italy and futurismo exhibitions are on too. As usual, they’re really successful. Besides Michelin guide Alfio Gezzi’ s bistro restaurant inside the museum garden is delicious and creative. Note that the museum’s architect is Mario Botta 😇
Hasret M — Google review
I must admit that I came with modest expectations, thinking it's just something to do on the road...not only I wasn't disappointed- I am very impressed. This museum has first of all an incredible collection of local art, which is beautifully exhibited in one space, with a retrospective over time plus a few focus rooms on certain artist. It is very informative and very eye opening, both to the influence of Austria and Germany on North Italian art as of the original developments. Further more, there were 3 other temporary exhibitions, all of them were humbly curated with a light hand that gives an educational perspective, but is very supportive for the observer without forcing too much information. I don't remember the last time I saw 4 exhibitions in one place, which I liked without an exception. I highly recommend a visit, although at least 3 exhibition spaces will probably change soon to others. Another little thing I liked is the design of the exhibition walls, with beautiful colours. One thing I felt was a bit a shame was that the shop didn't have a larger selection of postcards from the collection. The café is nice too BTW, and has amazing furniture, most of which I believe are of Italian renowned designers.
Amit E — Google review
The museum of modern and contemporary art in Rovereto is located in an impressive and stunning building. It is a short walk from the historical downtown area of the town. Its collection and exhibitions, however, surpass the architecture of the building. It is definitely visiting Rovereto just for this gallery.
E K — Google review
I know near to nothing about art in general, but the storytelling of the expositions was so easy that I was able to understand and learn many things. One very interesting exposition is the one showing the genesis and the evolution of modern art

When visiting Rovereto in winter, make sure to explore the Christmas Markets at Natale dei Popoli. Wander through the huts and enjoy the festive atmosphere on Via Roma, where you can sample a variety of international products and traditional treats. Don't miss out on a delightful breakfast at Caffe Bontadi or savoring a glass of Marzemino wine at one of the local restaurants.
2nd time we have visited and it never fails to amaze us. Great for reflection. The exhibits are constantly changing and thought provoking. Some content is graphic so keep that in mind if you have young children. Plenty to view and admire. There are storyboards along the walking trail and the area is handicap accessible. Keep hold of young children as there are steep drop-offs near the bell. Pleasant staff at the entrance. Plenty of parking near the center. We did notice a hiking path off to the side as well. Worth your time to explore the area. Has never been crowded both times we visited.
Betta R — Google review
Not easy to reach not far far from the town but you can’t walk to reach it but you can go with public transportation, they did this bell with old weapons of the wars, entrance it’s 5 euros but was free for us thanks to Ostello Rovereto they gave us tickets
Luc G — Google review
Do not recommend. I went there after reading there is a bell - one of the heaviest in the world and the heaviest which rotates when ringing. I was there at 12:00 when the bell supposed to play. And? 2 min. after 12, the sound of the bell was playing from the speakers 😒
Janusz ( — Google review
"The Peace Bell". We saw it ring at noon, not sure if that is every day. Be careful if using a GPS, our TomTom wanted to take us up a billy-goat trail.
Bruce S — Google review
We visited during the ringing of the bell at 21.30. It made a deep impression on me, thinking about the ww1 war and how this bell is ringing to remember the importance of peace. I hope we will remain peace...

Great place for peace. Its way is also interesting. If you start from Rovereto to Campana dei Caduti there is also trekking way. It takes 30 minutes by walk but you should wear sport clothes

Located in the heart of Rovereto's old town, Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra is housed in a historic castle and showcases an extensive collection of war uniforms, artillery, and vehicles spanning from the Middle Ages to modern times. The museum offers a compelling insight into the impact of war through captivating exhibits and photographs from the First World War, when Rovereto found itself directly on the Italian and Austrian-Hungarian front.
An interesting museum of you are interested in the topic/history in general. It’s suitable for children. The staff are helpful and kind
Iglika B — Google review
We were here with a school trip, absolutely to see museum especially if you are around for the trench warfare, our tour guide, a young lady with bright eyes, was very impolite with us. Absolutely suggested to go but avoid this young lady if you want a tour guide, the other guide was a young man and was very polite.
Luc G — Google review
Probably the most comprehensive and comprehensible WW1 history museum on our tour of Italy this summer. The descriptions were good, the views were good, and some of the artifacts like a canvas backpack were allowed to be touched,

Casa d'arte futurista Depero is a unique museum in Italy dedicated to futurism, housing over 3000 objects including original works, tapestries, furnishings, drawings, paintings, posters and puppets. Designed by Fortunato Depero himself, the museum showcases his entire life's collection from toys to Campari advertisements. The architecture of the museum is remarkable and respects the old while integrating with the new in an amazing way.
Delightful and quirky house of Futurist artist Fortunato DePero. Absolutely worth a visit, and the price is included in the Mart Museum ticket.

Amazing venue and collection. A true gem holding beautiful masterpieces testifying the futurist genius and the many media used. Great staff knowledgeable and friendly who care for their work and are eager to explain and providing information on Depero practice. Indeed an inspiring and colourful place. The ticket MART plus Casa d arte depero is really affordable.

Although the museum is worth visiting, after our visit we found out that somebody stole our umbrellas from in front of the entrance. We would not leave it there but we were asked by the staff to do so, after all we only got an apology from them. Seriously people are so mean! Take care of your belongings!

(Translated by Google) In my opinion one of the undisputed and unmissable symbols of the city of Rovereto. In perpetual memory of all the fallen of the great war. Inside there are the funerary arks of Damiano Chiesa and Fabio Filzi as well as Italian, Austrian and Czechoslovakian fallen soldiers. (Translated by Google) Interesting World War I memorial. The church is more interesting from the outside, the interior is rather austere. In the park in front of the church there is a collection of guns and howitzers from World War I. Again, everything is underlined by the amazing panoramas of the Dolomites and Rovereto. The parking lot is in front of the memorial and free. The entrance fee is a bit high, but nothing that you can't easily get through. V parku před kostelem sbírka děl a houfnic z 1. Světové války. Opět vše podkresleno úžasnými panoramaty Dolomitů a Rovereta.

(Translated by Google) It must be visited, and visited with due respect. Alfredo, Luigi, Joseph, Alois, Svoboda... More than 20,000 souls of young Italians, Austro-Hungarians, and Czechoslovakians, united by the same tragic fate. It gives pause for thought. The memorial, reopened in September 2025 after a conservative restoration, stands on the hill above Rovereto and has ample free parking. Bicycles and dogs, even on a leash, are not permitted in the surrounding park. Children must be supervised and held by the hand (I'm including a photo because someone mistakenly wrote in a review that children are not allowed...). The visit is free. From the parking lot, a slightly uphill path leads through the woods, which quickly leads to the Maria Dolens Bell of Peace (or Bell of the Fallen). There is an admission fee to that monument, which allows access to a facility where you can view materials on the theme, visit the park, see works of art, and, of course, the Bell.

Osteria del Pettirosso, located in the Trentino region, offers a wide selection of hearty traditional dishes and an extensive wine list in a charmingly rustic yet stylish setting. The restaurant is just a short stroll from the museum and provides a relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying their delicious food and drinks. Paolo, the owner, is known for his warm hospitality and attentive service. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.
Very good food Michelin star level. Cozy place, good service. Big selection of tartare, all tasty. Prices are on a high side, but well worth it.

Fantastic food and lovely staff. This is a place where you can enjoy finely made italian food and everything from the olive oil to the main dish and desert are prepared fresh and with care. Staff are very friendly and even if we needed sth outside the menu they did their best to accomodate our needs. The wine is also good here. I specially recommend the desert and recommended wine with it (or coffee if you prefer that). The only point is that it's not quite a cheap place, but the quality makes the cost worth and more.

Very nice experience….it can be a restaurant or a place where to drink some good wine, eating good stuff… Menu was good, mixed ham and cheese, and the famous canederli. Dessert was very good with sweet canederli, with menu clearly explaining all the food. Price was not cheap but food was ok. Good local wine selection.

Great place! Lovely ambiance, especially downstairs; quick and attentive service; fantastic food and wine - try especially the traditional canederli in broth or melted butter (truly some of the best I have ever had), or any of the salads. Been there during February 2019. We came for lunch, on Sunday: the restaurant was full but they let us in, and asked us to wait. It was definitely worth the wait! High quality dishes, well prepared and with very good ingredients. Warm atmosphere, quite formal, friendly professional personnel. Perfect position, close to MART museum and city downtown. Prices are ok, compared with quality.

They could go for the Michelin star if they wanted, specially with the rabbit. Everything was perfect, just in the end a mistake with the bill and the wine was a bit less expensive in the menu. Still, very happy and we would go back again. Cognilio is the King

This large church of St. Mark's is located in the heart of the historical old town of Rovereto. It might not look like much from the outside, but don't be fooled by its drab exterior. Its interior is incredible. The interior of the church is decorated with ornate and vivid frescoes. There are also a number of beautiful renaissance paintings. You should certainly visit this church, when you are in town.

(Translated by Google) Impressive church with a rich history The Chiesa di San Marco is a beautiful and well-preserved church in the middle of the historic center of Rovereto. The exterior is sober. Inside it is really impressive: richly decorated altars, baroque details and a beautiful serene atmosphere. Especially the link with Mozart - who gave his first concert in Italy here - makes it special. A must for those who love art, history and silence. The Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto is a compact museum that features exhibits on fossils, archeological finds, and outdoor dinosaur sculptures. It showcases all the major archeological periods ranging from Neolithic to Medieval times in addition to a comprehensive exhibition on natural history. The temporary space exhibit is highly recommended with its amazing virtual reality moon walk, space walk, and ISS view of Earth. Other permanent exhibitions are also interesting and worth exploring.
A beautiful museum. It’s kid-friendly but also good for adults. The exhibitions are well curated and you instantly fell in love with science. It’s clear that this is based on a lot of research, passion and constant improvement. For example, the planetarium is like a star ship. It includes VR, so children can see that science is not something boring, but is high tech and modern. There are many other interesting things to see and experience. The staff is kind, friendly and welcoming. I don’t often see people who are so dedicated and willing to go the extra mile as the nice lady that welcomed me. And since this became quite long, let me wrap up and advise you: if you are nearby, don’t miss this museum.

The hermitage of San Colombano, built around the 10th century, is an ancient structure carved into the rock. Situated at a height of 120 m, this mystical site is believed to have housed a hermit in 753 AD. Exploring the nearby river valley reveals an enchanting atmosphere. Legend has it that dragons once dwelled here, but they were vanquished by an Irish monk who made this place his home in penitence.
A very interesting hermitage that is worth a visit or, if you are in a hurry at least a photo from the main road, though finding parking near the photo spot is not easy. The site, a small cave, now part of the building, was the home of hermits from 753 on, as an engraving on the rock next to the current tower indicates it. A small church dedicated to San Colombano was first built next to the cave during the turn of the 10th-11th century, utilising the rock as its roof. The "hermit's cave" was used by monks until 1782 when the practice of the hermitage was abolished by Joseph II. Since then the inhabitants of the valley take care of the place. There is no entrance fee, but donations are welcome.
Boglárka L — Google review
Looking for where the dragons lived? you have found this place. walk along the river valley and you will get the impression that it is something mystical. will you find the dragon? probably not, because an Irish monk came here and defeated him. then, in repentance, he settled in a cave, and later a church was built there. it is only open on Sunday from 14:30. interestingly, the same stories about monks fighting dragons are also found in the kingdoms of Mustang and Bhutan.

Nestled in the heart of Piazza Rosmini, Palazzo Del BENE stands as a stunning testament to Renaissance architecture and history. Originally constructed as a private residence for the Bene family, this magnificent building was expanded by the Counts of Arco in the 16th century. Over time, it transitioned through various owners, including the Clarisse nuns and eventually became property of Rovereto's Municipality.

(Translated by Google) The palace, in pure Renaissance style, deserves particular attention for its magnificent decorations. The current architectural character is the work of the architect Augusto Sezanne who, having discovered the ancient frescoes, the valuable ceilings, the slender colonnades, completed the work in 1906. The original eighteenth-century block was transformed into a Renaissance-style building of Venetian type. The paintings represent the seasons, the vaults are decorated with festoons and pomegranates. Rich and sober at the same time, the staircase leading to the upper floors, where you can admire the variously decorated coffered ceilings. The Venetian chimney pots are also interesting. Originally a private residence of the Ben family, it was enlarged in the 16th century by the Counts of Arco. It was purchased and renovated in the 17th century by the Poor Clare nuns of S. Carlo as a rental house, and subsequently became the property of the Municipality. From 1877 to 1904 it was used as a post office building, and in that year it was sold by the Municipality to the Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto, which made it its headquarters.

The acoustics of the venue were exceptional, providing an excellent sound quality. However, there was one downside - due to its small size, the air circulation wasn't great. On the bright side, they offered a variety of craft beers along with affordable tap beer priced at 3 Euros.

(Translated by Google) Excellent structure, I go there for Latin music events. The ballroom is spacious and the acoustics are very good. A sore point is the bar service: they can't even make a decent spriz (they seem watered down, without flavour), as well as being served without any type of accompaniment (2 simple chips would be enough). The prices of the drinks change depending on who gives you the receipt and in my opinion are exaggerated (e.g. 6 euros for a spriz, 1.50 euros for a coffee...). On these occasions the entrance also includes the buffet, most of the time a sticky and overcooked cold pasta is served. I don't think it takes a lot of knowledge to do it decently. Grazie

(Translated by Google) One of the oldest churches in the town of Rovereto, whose first core dates back to 1290 by order of Guglielmo di Castelbarco, was completed in 1770. Next to the church, a convent (with a pretty cloister) was built on the will of Guglielmo Castelbarco, initially intended for the Friars Minor and, subsequently, for the Carmelites who remained there until 1785, when Austria suppressed the Order.

In reality, it is necessary to distinguish the construction of the cloister in the 16th century from that of the church which began in 1400, in place of a private chapel actually built in 1290 but given to the cathedral of Rovereto in 1319. The work was completed in 1759 with the construction of the bell tower. The overall style is 17th century, with a clear influence of Jesuit Baroque, as evidenced by the ceiling paintings. The church is definitely worth a visit.

The Monumento all'Alpino stands tall on a symbolic mountain of stones, honoring those who bravely fought in the Alps during past wars. It serves as a poignant reminder and reflection point for visitors. This monument pays tribute to the fallen soldiers and is dedicated to the Glorious body of the Alpini. The 2015 pure Cabernet Franc that I had the pleasure of tasting is a varietal wine but with a world-class complexity and structure. I let it oxygenate for about twenty minutes, in a Bordeaux glass, with a nose with balsamic but also vegetal notes. Red fruit but the reliance highlights the tertiary notes more. The entry into the mouth is coherent, satisfying, important. The ending is appropriately long. Excellent wine! (Translated by Google) This is a lovely city with many medieval features. There are many good places to eat and interesting museums, but the only drawback is that there isn't enough parking. All the parking lots in the city are full, and the large ones are far apart. Those with mobility issues can find it very difficult to reach the attractions.

Winery
Azienda Agricola SIMONCELLI Armando is a hidden gem in the wine world, celebrated for its exceptional offerings. Visitors often rave about their exquisite Navesel wine, which has garnered numerous compliments for its delightful taste. The experience of purchasing directly from the winery adds to the charm; guests are welcomed warmly and can enjoy tastings that showcase the quality of their wines.
What an experience, to actually buy the wine at the winery. I was a little apprehensive to ring the bell as the gates were all closed, but we had come so far that I was not going to let anything deter me. Anyway, I rang and was buzzed in at the main gate. A kind young lady told me where I could park the car and waited for me to go and get my wife. We went straight into the store/tasting area. We tasted a couple of wines, but actually already knew that we wanted the Navesel as it is an absolutely delicious wine. The daughter of the house also convinced us to buy a box of the red Cabernet Franc wine, which also is a terribly goo wine. I do have one regret, actually two regrets. The first regret is that we did not buy any of the white pinot wine when we had the opportunity. Our hostess was pleasant and graceful enough to let us have a bottle of the Pinot which we had last night and were so very impressed by how good it was. It is so smooth, silky, gentle and refreshing. My other regret is that our car was to small to buy more wine, but we will definitely go back next year or any time we are in the area of Trento...

Availability, simplicity, but above all the quality of the wines, made us spend a very interesting hour, both we parents and the children were fascinated, from the history of the birth of the company in 1977, up to the successes and satisfactions obtained to date, thanks also to a lot of dedication and passion from those who work there. To return and spread the word of mouth to friends, as we are already doing, tasting with them some of the numerous bottles purchased that evening (Original) Cantina interessante a 360 gradi.

Special recognition goes to the Navesel and the excellent Metodo Classico. One of the best wineries for its excellent quality/price ratio. (Translated by Google) Studio 53 is the last art gallery left in Rovereto, a city that hosts a large museum of contemporary art but which has seen its art galleries decimated over the years. Studio 53 resists, also thanks to the collections available in its assets with very important works ranging from Melotti and Depero and very interesting small themed exhibitions. The one I visited was dedicated to the Trentino artist Maurizio Giongo, painter, sculptor and graphic designer. Born in 1947, Giongo brought his research and abstractions on the theme of color to the essential space of Studio53 Arte with pieces of painting that resemble musical sequences. The works are pure abstraction but always on the border with figuration: in some forms you may see waves, in others bodies immersed in color, in still others the flow of air or the penetration of light. The works are characterized by an elegant chromaticism, which hypnotizes and facilitates contemplation. Precisely what art must do if only we stopped to give it a little space in our distracted daily rushes.
