Scolton Manor is a charming 19th-century house museum situated in the rural outskirts of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Originally built in 1842, it was home to the Higgons family and served as a hospital during WWII. The manor has been meticulously restored to showcase Victorian life and features a Visitor Centre, Sculpture Trail, and a beautifully restored Walled Garden.
Wonderful destination for families and dog walkers. Lots of woodland walks and activities like the playhouse and playgrounds for young children to engage in. The cafe offers gluten free options such as carrot cake and wheat free Welsh cakes in addition to decent coffee.

Loved our visit to this country park. The stunning walled garden lined by espaliered apple trees produces pumpkins, courgettes, colourful chard with gorgeous flowerbeds planted with so many varieties of salvias, scented roses and so much more. The woodland trail features wooden sculptures reflecting Welsh mythology and parking was easy. Plenty of space for walks with well laid paths, café and toilets.
Mary M — Google review
Lovely manor house with lots of information about all the different room. Activities for the children on special occasions - i.e. Halloween - around the manor house itself, the walled garden, and the grounds. Loads of space for walking and for children to play. Fun sculpture trail in the woods. Several play areas. Lovely tea rooms.
Alexandra B — Google review
Just pay for car parking and bring a picnic. Council run, two really good play areas. Amazing rhododendron den near the big House, lots to see. Bees, walled garden, stationary steam train and signal box. Good places in forested areas for cycling for the little ones. Coffee and ice cream available.
Georgina D — Google review
Great outdoor activities. Worth a visit with the little ones. Defo take wellies if the weather has been bade. That isn't a negative about the place. Let's face it, we all loved jumping in puddles at some point.
Mark H — Google review
We often walk our dog here when visiting the area. It's £4.00 to park for 2 hours, £4.50 upto 4 hours, £6.00 for the day or you can purchase an annual car parking ticket from the station shop which costs £35.00. There's plenty of space to walk and play. Rhododendrons are in bloom at the moment. The quiet walled garden is lovely to see as it changes with the seasons. It's a great place for picnics. Very family friendly with lots of play areas.
Louise T — Google review
Great place and free! Loads of space for kids to run around, sculpture trail, lovely park. Be sure to check out the house the inside is much more fantastic than the outside. Nice tea room too with hot and cold drinks, ice lollies and food.

Manor house and grounds are great. Brilliantly decorated for Halloween. Cafe is fine offering a limited menu though it closes at 14:00. No GF options.

Sarah Marshall's experience at The VC Gallery has been life-changing. Having faced the harshness of people and overcoming cancer, she found solace in this art gallery located in Wales. The gallery has not only restored her faith in humanity but also provided her with a purpose and platform for her artwork. Sarah believes that anyone struggling with mental health or feeling isolated should visit The VC Gallery as it offers a haven of love and community support.
I'm Sarah Marshall and The VC gallery Saved my life. In my life I have seen how cruel and harsh people can be. After beating cancer I moved to Wales to escape domestic violence and exploitation. My journey was not an easy one. I had tried to take my life several times. Then I found the VC gallery. They have supported me and restored my faith in humanity. A real pocket of love in an unkind world! The benifit to our community is never-ending. I now have a purpose and a platform for my art. I would explore anyone struggling with their mental health or feeling isolated to take a wander through our doors. You really wont regret it!!

This place saved my life! The volenteers are kind and warm and amazing, no one is ever excluded here! When i landed here i was a mess, life had knocked me for six. I had been robbed beaten and lied to, my faith in humanity was shaken. This place and its amazing people restored that faith! The work Barry John has started here will leave a legacy of kindness for generations. I am proud to call myself part of it! Artist credits (@Marshallsmarking and Sally Green)

Picton Castle Gardens is a 12th-century castle that offers a diverse range of attractions. The meticulously planned gardens provide a year-round oasis with captivating sights and fragrances. Inside the castle, visitors can explore hidden secrets and grand interiors, including a circular library and an opulent drawing room that has hosted royalty. For authentic Spanish cuisine with Welsh influences, Maria's at Picton Castle is the place to go.
A lovely couple of hours spent here walking around the beautiful gardens and peeking into history walking around the castle. Had a delicious lunch of sandwiches made by a lovely gent on a small stall too. Saw plenty of birds, bees and butterflies 🦋
Dee S — Google review
A really lovely place to visit. The castle has a very homely feel, unlike some stately homes. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. There's a good tea shop and the gardens just go on and on. The plants are all in great condition, so if you are a garden fan or enjoy photographing interesting specimen plants, then this is a perfect place to go. You'll need at least 2-3 hours but could easily enjoy 4-5. There are both formal and informal planted areas - plus a woodland walk we didn't have time for. There's a maze plus a wild board-walk and structures to keep kids amused. Tickets are reasonable and valid for a few days if you're in the area.
John M — Google review
We visited here in September and had a lovely afternoon. We did the castle tour which was good value for money as we had a very knowledgeable guide and you get to see some rooms on the tour that are not included in with the normal admission. The tour had lots of information and was very interesting. The castle itself is beautiful and there is lots to explore. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. We didn't get to explore the gardens due to the very rainy weather, but we will definitely return in the future!
Jenna — Google review
Gorgeous gardens. Tickets are valid for a week so you can revisit free! We didn't see everything so we're going back. Amazing plantings, glasshouses and fernary. The walled garden is a delight. Lots of things to do for the kids, tree house, jungle boardwalk etc. Lovely restaurant and tea shop. We were there in early September but I'm pretty sure it would be beautiful in Spring and Summer too. There's a decent website so you can plan your day. Disabled friendly; I haven't checked the whole site but the main garden areas had good even paths for mobility scooters, prams and pushchairs. Enjoy!
Ann M — Google review
Had a great afternoon here!! Have been to many NT/RHS and other places, but Picton was way up there with the best! The castle/house had a great feel to it, you could almost live there, very homely. Garden was very well kept and we liked the general layout and especially the herb beds. Restaurant food very good as well Just wish it was closer for us to revisit!
Chris A — Google review
What an absolute gem! Actually on our “if we have time” list but so glad we did indeed have that time. What a wonderful autumnal treat. The woodlands and walled garden alone are worth a visit, so many unusual plants and shrubs. The courtyard and cosy cafe are excellent, good food and drink and reasonably priced. If you visit after 1.30 the Castle is open, unfortunately we went in the morning and couldn’t stay. If you are in this area don’t miss this. You can return on the same admission within a week too so twice the enjoyment.
Anthony H — Google review
Lovely converted castle come mansion. Ground and lower floor can be viewed whilst upstairs is closed due to ongoing restoration. Lovely wooded area and gardens to walk around in.

Nestled in the northern part of Pembrokeshire, the Preseli Hills rise majestically to 536 meters, offering a stunning contrast to the flatter landscapes of southern Wales. This wild and rugged terrain is characterized by moorland, heath, and grasslands that are home to an array of unique flora and fauna. The hills provide excellent walking opportunities away from the bustling coastline.
This, of course, is where the Stone Henge blue stones were queried. What was the motivation to take them all the way to the Salisbury plain? Would be great to know. Plenty of space here to ponder!

Don't miss the chance to visit Sweet Home Alpaca, where you can enjoy a delightful morning surrounded by lovely alpacas, amusing goats, and friendly chickens. Angela, the farm owner, provides a warm welcome and shares her vast knowledge about alpacas' personalities, breeding cycles, likes and dislikes. You can even take one of the alpacas like Alaska for a walk. Angela has many entertaining stories about her animals and encourages everyone to participate in feeding them.
My Mum was gifted this experience for her birthday and we both loved it. Angela was amazing, super friendly and welcoming whilst educating us on all things alpaca. We got to hold the chickens (our first time doing so!) and feed and interact with what felt like endless alpacas. We would both highly recommend this experience, and will definitely be back in the future. Bonus points for the dog snuggles at the end! Thank you for having us!!

Came here as a birthday treat and it was such a fun day out! Angela was so lovely and the experience was so relaxed yet entertaining!! We loved seeing all the different personalities of the alpacas and the chickens. You can tell the animals are looked after with such care & love. Wish I lived closer so I could visit again! Thank you Angela & team !

Best experience ever! My kids absolutely loved it. The animals are well looked after and loved. You can tell straight away that Angela loves what she does. She has so much passion and knowledge about her animals. We would definitely revisit, just wouldn't be late this time ;)

I visited Sweet Home Alpaca with my family in August, and it turned out to be an amazing experience, especially for the kids. They absolutely loved interacting with the alpacas, and as a bonus, there were chickens to engage with too! We first reached out to Angela after discovering the place through their website. She was prompt and friendly in her email responses, making the booking process smooth and hassle-free. During our visit, Angela's warmth and enthusiasm were truly contagious. She kept us entertained with lots of interesting information about the animals and even threw in some jokes, which added to the fun atmosphere. Sweet Home Alpaca is a fantastic family-run spot that offers a unique and enjoyable experience. We had such a great time that we’re already planning to return soon. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable day out with the family!
Kupesan K — Google review
Great experience, my daughter and I had a great time feeding and petting the alpacas - we even got to hold a baby. Plenty of time to be right in there interacting with the alpacas learning about them at the same time, a must for any animal-lover! Great outing and great host, thank you.
Karen G — Google review
What an amazing day! We’ve done a couple of alpaca experiences but this really stood out from the rest. Angela is fantastic at what she does and it’s clear she has a genuine love for it. Her alpacas are very at ease around people (if a bit food-motivated) and are definitely well looked after. The interactive feeding experience at the end of the walk seemed to be the highlight of their day, but for us it was getting to hold one of the babies! This is a fantastic little place to support, definitely worth booking a visit if you’re in the area.
Isla B — Google review
What an amazing experience. The friendly team are on a working Alpaca farm making the whole experience down to earth, informative and fun. From the initial greeting to going the extra mile to ensure we have a great time our hosts provided a professional service throughout. We booked a walk but did so much more even feeding a baby alpaca. Suitable for adults and children alike. Thank you for an unforgettable morning.

The Welsh Spitfire Museum is located in the old prison governor's house, which was part of the County Gaol built in 1779-80. It offers a unique experience for WWII aircraft enthusiasts and anyone interested in the iconic Spitfire. Visitors can get up close to the cockpit of a rare aircraft and explore a compact museum containing much of an actual Spitfire that the organization aims to restore.
Unusual and interesting to find a spitfire ( large parts of one) at the back of a town centre shop. For a small entrance fee going towards the aircraft restoration, you can closely inspect and touch some of the exhibits. We learnt about the work and ambition of the spitfire trust as well as the history of this particular aircraft from the knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer.
Steve S — Google review
Wasn't expecting the museum to be at the back of a charity shop, but the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They're clearly passionate about this project, and I would highly recommend visiting for the curiosity and to support them to see the Dorothy fly once again. I've named the spitfire Dorothy, dunno why but it feels right ☺️
Georgia W — Google review
Absolutely brilliant museum with a very interesting story behind it. Sure enough it's small but well put together and a real gem in the town. Thank you for spending time to explain how the Spitfire came to be there. I hope the dream of it flying again comes to fruition for all the hard work that is being put in to the project.

Little Haven Beach is a charming sandy retreat nestled in a picturesque fishing village, just south of Broad Haven. This delightful spot boasts stunning views from The Point and features accessible pathways for wheelchairs and buggies. With its slipway, it's perfect for boating enthusiasts, while the nearby Sheep Wash offers a safe swimming area in a sheltered cove. At low tide, adventurers can explore rock pools and even venture across to Broad Haven for an enjoyable coastal walk.
We came on a rainy July day at low tide - was such a great expanse of beach for little ones to run around, great for dogs and lovely Little Rock pools. Husband loved climbing up to the cave too! Great little village to potter around with cafe and pub etc and a decent sized car park. Worth downloading pay by phone app before going if you don’t have change!

If you want about 3 pubs and places to eat, along with a superb beach, this is for you. You can hire kayaks and boards here. It wasn't really that busy at the time I went, about 12.30. £1.50 for an hour, £3 for 3hrs stay at the carpark. This was more than enough for my needs. Other stay times are available, and are shown by the pay and display machine

What a lovely cove plenty of parking and when the tide goes out paddle boarding body surfing on hire too. Pubs get very busy in the evenings and have a great atmosphere. Some nice walks on the headland.

Really super beach at low tide with lots of rock climbing and rock pools to explore, a big cave and vast quiet sandy beach you can get across to in low tide. Good size car park but hellish drive down a steep (20%) descent to get there from Broad Haven.
Rob H — Google review
I did like the little village, the little beach and the walk along the coast , very nice area and view from cliffs
Nicolas D — Google review
Tiny little beach and no lifeguard but magical both when the tide is in, plenty of people swimming (easy to walk into the sea from the slipway without having to cross the pebbles). When the tide is out walk around to Broadhaven and see the caves.

Wiston Castle is a well-preserved example of a motte and bailey castle in Wales. It sits atop a hillside and has been used by English and Welsh forces over the centuries. It is a great place to visit if you're interested in medieval castles, and there are several scenic walks nearby.
Absolutely loved this discovery as we drove around. A fantastic Motte and Bailey castle wonderfully preserved and nestled amongst large trees framing it to perfection. The history of Wizo draws you in to visualise a life lived in this place and to further research this historic place. A short walk from the limited parking area and free to enter. Enjoy.
Allgoodthyngs — Google review
A pretty view from the top of the castle area. A lovely moat area with some of the most gorgeous old trees. I think there is a walking path from the castle but we didn't have time. Driving directions seem to want to take you down a private road. Park at the church, which is worth a visit, and walk through the small gate to the left of the driveway.
Eileen P — Google review
Free parking is available not too far from the castle itself, there's a metal swing gate to the entrance of the field and a board which explains the history of the castle. It's a beautiful quiet place, there were only two other people visiting when I was there. Steps lead up to the castle mound and once on top you can enter the ruins. It's a really nice example of a motte and Bailey castle as you don't see many of these. The grounds are nice to walk in and are surrounded by lush greenery and big trees to offer shade in the hotter months. Unfortunately this place is not wheelchair friendly due to the narrow gated entrance.
Laura I — Google review
Very fine example of a Motte and Bailey castle, a little hidden away from the road. Parking straightforward close to the nearby church, but then it was a muddy field to cross to get to the steps up to the castle. No cattle on the day we visited. Charming ruin, very pleased we visited.
Roy S — Google review
This is a seriously impressive example of a wonderful mote and bailey! Yes it’s not intact and there is a lot of damage, but this is real history! Definitely worth a visit!
Robert S — Google review
Ruins are great for a brief look. Notice board informative and steps good to climb up. We parked by the church which had a little space. However, we had our dog with us and the field to get to the castle was full of bullocks with no warning or signs.. so we didn’t truly enjoy our experience as they were so interested in us!
Hannah B — Google review
An interesting place to visit, not a lot left, the moat can be seen with the remains of the keep, you can park by the church which is about 2/3 mins walk away.
Pete H — Google review
The best example of a motte and bailey castle that we've seen in Wales. There's not a ton left to see, but after visiting several other ruins of motte and bailey castles, this was the most complete and most illustrative of what those types of constructions looked like. Definitely worth a visit!

Really lovely, quiet location to stay in and a really unique building! We've stayed here four times now and I imagine we will be back in the future! There is a lovely walk down to the bay and it is great for stargazing, watching boats and the sunset

I didn’t understand it was an accommodation at first so I went there with a car and wanted to explore the castle. But it is marked as a private road. I think if you want to visit it, you have to book a night. I’m not sure. But I think it is an important information as seeing this on Google Maps and being displayed as opened 24 hours a day it views a different impression at first.

Fantastic place to spend a few days away, set on a cliff edge overlooking the mouth of the estuary and shipping lane to Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock, as well as views around the coast to St Anne's Head. The fort is extremely interesting, steeped in history, with lots of space to explore, and a comfortable place to stay. It boasts some great views, and is set right on the coastal path, and within close proximity to a nice sheltered sandy beach.

Fantastic view and really nice walk from the lighthouse by the coast path

Stayed here three nights using Landmark Trust. Atmospheric and sensitively restored. Eight of us. Comfortable beds and lounge area.

Stayed with family here. Wonderful so much fun. Great family time laughing and raising flag.

Beautifully converted Victorian fort run by Landmark Trust. Superb sea views from the terraces on the south and east sides, from where you can watch shipping coming in and out of Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock. Small windows mean few views from inside, but it's an excellent spot for walks along the coast path and around the Dale peninsula.

Even if you just do it once. Spend Christmas here. We did and loved it. Might take a year to recover financially but the memories will last a lifetime.

Historical landmark
Formerly known as Royal Air Force St David's, St David's Airfield has been transformed into a stunning wildlife haven with meadows and scrubland. The old runways and taxiways have been repurposed into foot and bridle paths, making it a perfect spot for walking or running. Visitors can enjoy the sight of ponies grazing in the fields alongside the path, while being mindful of native wildlife that need to be protected.
Visited this ex RAF airbase on a cold November day. Plenty of free parking at the entrance to the airfield, but directions are non existent, so best set a Google pin before you set out, so you can find it. There's nothing left in terms of buildings, other than the memorial. The Runway is showing signs of neglect, with vegetation starting to take root. We got lucky, but on the way back there were dogs running free off lead, who were plainly reactive to each other, and the owners having no recall, so be aware if you, or you have dogs who are nervous of dogs. It's a good place to go when it's muddy elsewhere, as its all hard standing surfacing. The views are stunning, with landmark hills to one side and the Pembrokeshire coast to the other.

It’s an old airfield being repurposed as a wildlife haven, with meadows and scrubland. There are small parking areas on the edge, and is right on a quiet cycle route from St David’s. The runways are still visible, and the taxiways have been turned into foot and bridle paths around the perimeter. For us it was a very cloudy day, but the skylarks still filled the sky. Meadow Pipits, Linnets and Whitethroats were all around and easy to see. It was popular with locals and dog walkers but didn’t feel busy - it is easy to find quiet spaces. A different side of Pembrokeshire.

Nice peaceful place to walk or run. No structures to explore but the runway is still intact and lots of path's to walk around.

Lovely to walk or ride around this nature reserve . Now birds replace WW2 planes .

A nice walk and a bit of World Wat two history to experience.

Dog poo everywhere. Tread carefully. On the verges and the concrete. Absolute disgrace.

RAF Brawdy is now a corn field.

Great place to walk your dog or run not really much of a historical attraction
