Parc de Monthesinho is a superb place for long long walks in nature. Chances are, if you're there in December, that you will never meet another human. Lots of beautiful birds and apiary's. Nice national park, with amazing views and fmgood roads for motorcycles. Not much traffic and tourist. In the smal villages among the road there are nice small cafe's with very tasty coffee. And so friendly staff and people. Even if they don't speak English.

Outstanding park! This region is nearly deserted in the spring and the weather is incredible. In three days and 40km of trail hiking in the mountains we only met one other group. The hills are covered in flowering bush and host to all kinds of wildlife.

Stunning scenery - The most beautiful countryside I have seen anywhere in Portugal, even more lovely than the Douro Valley. Absolutely loved driving through these flower covered hills and dales of chestnut and cherry plantations and historic villages.

Found this Museum with an empty gallery right at the entrance (yet the bare walls were illuminated for some reason), the lady at the desk was not able to provide usinformation regarding other local museums (she seemed uncaring) and there was a man following our entourage around, without proper ID nor attire, stalking us for a while. Eventually the man told us who he was - an official from the museum - only patronize us about the masks (which we could not criticise, because he was also the artist) and how paintings should be lit. We felt uneasy throught the entire visit... The museum does have an interesting collection but I feel that staff needs training on how to receive the visitor... We didn't have a terrible experience but it was not a good one either...

Lovely little museum charting Portugal's history over the last 600 years. Fantastic map of Portugal from the peninsular war era for Sharpe fans. All distances in miles! And the time to walk those miles. Loads of armaments through the ages on display. Adults 3 euros, seniors only 1 euro! The castle itself is free but if you want to go to the top of the keep, that's part of the museum. Lots of places where you could fall a long way if you're not careful eg walls without rails. The place has free parking, easy access and the prices are more than fair. You can eat at around 12€ per person. The restaurant is usually full and the queues can be long, but even with that you can always enjoy a good wine while waiting, so try to arrive early as possible. It is one of those restaurants that I won't surely forget. Don't miss it!
