Seafood restaurant
Dylan's Criccieth is a beachside eatery located at the eastern end of Criccieth's beach, housed in the iconic Morannedd Cafe building designed by renowned architect Clough Williams-Ellis. The restaurant offers a casual, European-style menu with a focus on seafood. The stylish interior and diverse bistro menu provide a modern contrast to the building's Art Deco design.
Fantastic restaurant in a wonderful old building with great views of the castle and beach. Delicious food from an unusual menu. The Cuban calzone was very interesting and the rhubarb meringue pie was amazing. Rather expensive but it was worth it.

Visited on a Saturday night and found a last minute slot for 8.30pm so booked just beforehand. was mayhem busy when we arrived at 8pm but got a seat at the bar and waited for our table. Despite the crazy busy all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our order was taken quickly, and we had a prawn cocktail pizza and feather blade steak. Pizza was definitely different, crust was very tasty, although the middle base was quite soggy. Good tangy overall flavour. Steak was fine, although partner has had way better elsewhere. Chips were a bit overdone and dark brown for our liking. Sticky toffee pudding was very tasty, the ale and salted caramel sauce was a fab pairing, so highly recommend that! 4/5.

Great welcome and service throughout, delicious food and drinks. Initially told no draught drinks due to an issue but as they only had lager in bottles and my husband wanted beer they managed to isolate the line with a problem so they could still serve him IPA! Nicole was our server and she was so friendly and helpful, it really made our night, thank you!

WOW!! My partner and I decided to escape for a night away due to a local event that we wanted to attend and made an evening of it. Booked a table here for an 8pm sitting. Instantly that atmosphere was spot on. The staff were wonderful, very friendly, attentive but not overly so. And the food... well, it was perfect 👌 Every course presented beautifully, absolutely delicious and served wonderfully. Drink selection was also excellent with a good variety of choice. Back ground music was a perfect level, easily talk to your company and still be able to enjoy the atmosphere We highly recommend, if you're staying local or passing through, 110% worth a visit We had 3 alcoholic beverages each (2 people) and each had 3 courses

Really lovely food that is well priced and in a relaxed atmosphere. The building is also a beautiful art deco design exquisitely placed overlooking the sea. Absolutely recommend!
Amanda C — Google review
The food was nice, I had the Chicken in a basket and side of Salt & Chilli Calamari. Was hoping for Lobster but not on the menu. The sea view is great. Parking is for Disabled only.

We enjoyed Dylan’s in Menai so much recently that when we visited Criccieth we just had to book again to try out another of their tasty meals and it didn’t disappoint. The location is perfect right on the seafront, inside is light and bright with a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all lovely too. The food was delicious paired with a nice bottle of wine. I had the biggest lobster I’ve ever eaten and still found room for a pudding.
Penny W — Google review
We booked an inside table as we were dining with two dogs and they have a specific area set aside for this (but not hidden out of the way or anything!). The service was very friendly and the food was incredible. Garlic bread was one of the best my friend has ever had and I absolutely loved the gambas pil pil. We'd highly recommend!

Ice cream shop
Brunch restaurant
Cafe
Cadwaladers is a well-known ice cream shop with 8 locations across Wales, originally founded in Criccieth in 1927 by the Cadwalader family. The company's secret formula for their delicious ice cream has evolved over the years, but it continues to attract long queues of people eager to taste its sweet treats. Despite its expansion, Cadwaladers maintains its reputation for serving high-quality ice cream that was first established in the small town of Criccieth.
We visit here a couple of times a year for the best ice cream North Wales has to offer (in our opinion) but more recently me and my son fancied eating inside and enjoying the view of Criccieth beach. The evening was drawing in and the staff appeared to be tidying up after a busy day, but they couldn’t have been more accommodating and kind to us, offering us the best seats in the house and some hot food. FYI - Cadwaladers isn’t just for great ice cream…the toasties, the milk shakes, and the coffee are equally as impressive, but the staff take the top marks! Diolch ♥️
Kate H — Google review
The ice cream, sundaes looked really good and tasty. The view of the sea is amazing. It was raining, still beautiful. I had a gluten free, dairy free cake, very disappointed, pure sugar... No good at all.
M. L — Google review
Always come here when visiting wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 usually have no problem with the food as all. Had pancake stack which usually nice and light and soft but this time they were smaller and dry as cannot even cut into some of them. Came for lunch this time and ordered a cheese toasty which again could barely cut some of it let alone break it off my teeth and is dry stuck together. Very disappointed they need to relook who’s now doing food as used be amazing
Georgina H — Google review
Oh my word what an amazing place. The ice cream is just devine. Staff are lovely and extremely helpful. Lovely views of the coast line. You can take dogs in which is a massive bonus. Well recommended and worth a visit. Can't wait to come back again.
Sarah H — Google review
Very good range of flavours of ice cream, including plant based, vegan, and gluten free. I had the plant based strawberry ice cream, double scoop in a cup was £4.75 (I think!) ... generally very nice taste, did think the scoop size was a bit on the smaller side compared to many other establishments. Very good overall, attracts huge queues in summer.
Hannah W — Google review
Lunch time. Very pretty place to have some lunch. We tried to go to Castle Criccieth, but someone forgot to check if it was open, so we went to lunch.
Debra D — Google review
Visited here yesterday for lunch with my 2 young children. Had a lovely, reasonably priced lunch which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The ice cream was fantastic! I must say the waitress was an absolute credit to your establishment. We will definitely visit again when we’re next in Wales!
Hannah H — Google review
Was pleased to find this place when walking in the hot sun. An ice-cream sundae was just what was needed. Service was good and we all enjoyed our cooling dessert. Only negative is it's on the expensive side for what you get, but isn't most things these days!

Fish and chips takeaway
Castle Fish & Chip Shop is a highly recommended takeaway spot that offers exceptional fish and chips. The fish is cooked to perfection, enveloped in a crispy and delightful batter. The accompanying portion of chips is crunchy and satisfying, complemented by the addition of mushy peas. This establishment provides excellent food at great value, making it a top choice for anyone seeking delicious fish and chips.
BEST FISH & CHIPS EVER We enjoyed the most beautiful cod and chips down at the beach. The fish is made fresh to order and the chips are perfectly cooked. If you want the tastiest fish and chips, come here and yes... You might have to wait a little while but good things take time 😜
Isabelle D — Google review
Don't go here if you're hungry. The queue was near the door when we arrived, with about 7-8 customers ahead of us. It took 50 minutes to get our pie and chips. Was it worth the wait? No, the pie was microwaved, and pastry was soggy. They are 6 people working in the chippy, and only one of the 6 people were actually serving. Everyone had a role to play, but the service was super slow. The poor people at the back of the queue as we were leaving will have to wait around 90 minutes for their chips. The staff were nice enough, very pleasant. But your setup is completely wrong. No one should have to wait more than 10 minutes tops for pie and chips. It was too nice of a day to dine in, but if we wanted to, you couldn't. Although it advertised "eat in" or "takeaway," you couldn't actually eat in as the sitting area was off limits.
Jamie S — Google review
Came here and couple of nights ago after reading a few reviews. You did not disappoint! You cook food to order and it's so worth those few minutes wait for delicious fish and chips! A good mix of locals and tourists queueing for food, very well organised with one lady taking orders, 2 gents cooking and 2 ladies packing orders. You do this so well! Thank you!
Terry H — Google review
This is a great fish n chips shop. The ladies is very lovely and welcoming The chef is super friendly and food is amazing ! Fish is freshly cooked and chips is excellent 👍 love it 🥰 Keep up the great work guys
PH P — Google review
Castle Fish & Chips are masters of their craft, and produce mighty fine fish and chips. That does mean they are rather popular and attract a large patronage, often resulting in a queue. But it is worth the wait. Their system works well, resulting in ready-to-eat cooked to order food. We've been here many times, and have never been dissapointed. The wait may be long sometimes, but the rewards are well worth it. Thank you for being open today (22nd oct 2025). Superb Cod and chips, and the fishcakes I was allowed to try by my daughter were fantastic.
Bill S — Google review
Lovely fish and chips made fresh to order, always a queue out of the shop, but the staff are efficient and will take your order whilst you queue, so by the time you get to the counter your food is ready. Staff are really friendly and accommodating, they put a lot of care into the food and providing a welcoming service to regular customers and holiday makers.
Kate H — Google review
Probably the best fish and chips I've had in the UK. Chips where very good fish was exceptional. No surprise they are popular and therefore busy with a quee stretching out the door. Its well worth the wait, had someone taking orders so by the time you reach the till it's ready which worked really well. Portion sizes where perfect prices no different from any other chippy around that are half the quality. Maybe a minute walk to the beach to eat it.
Chris B — Google review
Food is always fresh because it's cooked to order so there might be a wait, but it's always worth it. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Love coming here, a proper seaside chippy.

Brilliant stop for food and DOG friendly!!Only popped in for a drink to get out the rain. A gentleman opened the front door for us, seeing how full our hands were. We were sat upstairs by the window overlooking the sea. Ended up having some lunch in the end and a lovely lady came up and offered our dog some sausage which she absolutely appreciated. Food, drink, service and atmosphere here was brilliant from start to finish. Thank you

Absolutely adore this little place, we visited for the first time while we were on holiday at Haven Hafan-Y-Môr. We arrived just before the breakfast menu ends and the lunch time menu starts. My partner ordered a breakfast bap (two of them actually as he was very hungry) and he made changes to the contents of the bap. I ordered off of the lunch menu, I had a cheese and onion omellete. My son (aged 4) ordered sausage, chips and gravy. We had a lovely man take our order, were gutted we didn't catch his name so we could mention him properly. He sat down with us while taking our order and showed us the specials board too on the TV screen. The upstairs seating is very nice, the styling is beautiful. The food was stunning, cooked to perfection. I was amazed with the salad that came with my food, I was expecting the basic generic side salad.. but this one had peppers, beetroot with a basil/pesto style glaze. We enjoyed it that much we decided to visit a second time but this time brought my partners parents with us. They absolutely loved their food, they both ordered the pulled pork baps. The man waiting on us remembered us from previously and we had a really good conversation. All the staff are lovely there. Even the downstairs seating is beautifully styled. My partner tried the cheesecake on this visit and said it was delicious. Can't wait to visit again when were next in the area.

Stopped at this gem of a cafe to spend a few hours relaxing, playing board games and enjoying nice food and drink. All the food was lovely, but can particularly vouch for the ploughman's accompanied by a lovely cider (as shown in the pictures) 🥰 Very dog friendly and very welcoming. Thanks so much for an amazing visit.

We went there for breakfast on our way to Llŷn in the morning. It opens at 8, which is superb, as many places open at 9. Very friendly service and a great breakfast with local produce served. Delicious coffee, I call myself a coffee connoisseur. They also serve lunch. Note: This is a dog-friendly establishment.
Alicia W — Google review
Great quality and delicious food. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We were visiting the area and they gave great advice for places to visit. Very clean and tidy. Sat upstairs in the window seat with a view of the sea.
Rachel H — Google review
Visited here today on a trip to the area - breakfast was below average - cheap ingredients- sausage and bacon tasted cheap and the mushroom was especially lackluster tasteless and rubbery not to mention the microwaved beans - I could of looked past this more had the pricing been cheaper but it was fairly expensive for a regular sized breakfast and the ingredients were such low quality . On the other hand staff were kind and helpful but sadly the breakfast itself let the side down.
Callum L — Google review
Lovely food, great selection of cakes and savoury things. We just had scones and coffee and both were good. Really friendly and welcoming service. The tables outside in the sun are by the road but have lots of lovely big planters full of flowers which make it a really nice place to sit anyway, and the road isn't busy or loud.

The Prince of Wales is a traditional, dog-friendly pub in Criccieth, Wales. It offers a cozy atmosphere with wood paneling and exposed beams. The pub serves real ales and comfort food, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy some classic British fare. With its welcoming ambiance, it's an ideal place to unwind after exploring the charming town of Criccieth.
Vintage decor, dog friendly, delicious food and friendly service! I had the Minted Lamb Burger and my partner had his usual Steak and Ale Pie and considering he's practically a Steak and Ale Pie aficionado at this point, his comment was he'd never had so much meat in a pie! Meals brought out by chef/owner - giving you a great 'old fashioned service' which feels very fitting!
Jessie S — Google review
Had a lovely meal here today ☺️ The reason for the 4 stars, is I wasn’t overly overwhelmed with the fish but the rest of the diners enjoyed their meals. They do have a really good selection of food and even an exotic burgers menu for the adventurous 😊 The woman behind the bar was lovely, really good service and absolutely no complaints. The pub is super dog friendly, with treat sticks to buy at the bar and fresh water available. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Kelly G — Google review
Popped in here for a meal as no other pubs in Cricceth were doing evening meals. Pleasantly surprised at how good it was! On entry it seemed like a locals pub but it wasn't! Service was very prompt and friendly, food on offer was a nice broad selection and beers were a mix of local and national. Would visit again.
Matt G — Google review
Been one or twice while staying in the area. Very friendly pub. Staff are great and helpful. The food was freshly cooked and plentiful. We just happened to be here during a 50% off food offer so even better. Dog friendly as well so win win. Location has free to play pool table. :-)
David M — Google review
We visited The Prince of Wales pub in Criccieth for an evening meal and had a really pleasant experience. On arrival, we were welcomed warmly while ordering drinks and enjoyed the cosy, traditional feel of the pub. The menu had a good variety of dishes available and this was also complemented by a specials menu. After a short wait, a member of the friendly team took our food order at the bar, though we did notice table service was also available. Not long after, our meals arrived. We chose the steak and ale pie, which was a classic pot pie served in a ceramic dish with a flaky pastry top, chips, peas, and some extra gravy on the side. It was generously filled with tender beef and was good. Our other dish was a chicken tikka masala, which came out slightly later than the pie, but the delay was well communicated by the team. The waitress was excellent, explaining the situation and ensuring the dish was brought out promptly once ready. The curry itself was delicious, served with half chips and half rice, the best way in our opinion. Overall, it was a lovely meal made even better by the service. The waitress who looked after us (sorry, we didn’t catch her name) was a real standout, attentive, friendly, and exactly the kind of person you’d want on your team. We will definitely return when next in the area.
Matthew W — Google review
Lovely little pub with friendly staff, fast service, great food and big portions. The steak and peppercorn sauce were lovely! Would recommend.
Jodie P — Google review
Lovely original pub. I didn't have a reservation on a Sunday lunch at 1230 which I was surprised to be asked but when I was fitted in with no problem I realised why. It was busy and so it should be for the value of the Sunday roast. 12.95 for beef or chicken 2pound supplement for lamb. Service was excellent and a lot of places could take a good look at what these ladies are doing right. If I'm back in the area I will definitely be paying another visit

Lovely, well presented food. The cakes all baked daily were amazing. This is the best cafe I’ve visited in a long time and I’m a regular cafe goer. The decor was inviting, and everywhere was spotless.Staff were efficient and helpful, I felt a sense of real Welsh hospitality today, thank you.

There was a sign inside saying Bar 51 so I am unsure if this place was actually the Bar 51 across the road that had moved over. Nevertheless, staff were very friendly. Food (quiche with tomatoes and asparagus), side salad and coleslaw took some time to be served but it was really delicious and well worth the wait, mainly caused by the fact it was a busy place, a good sign. I highly recommend this place.

Specialty Museums
Amgueddfa Lloyd George Museum is a small but significant museum that commemorates the life of David Lloyd George, Britain's first modern Prime Minister. The museum includes exhibits and artifacts that tell the story of his leadership during World War I, his role in establishing the concept that became the NHS, and his negotiations for Ireland's independence. Despite its small size and lack of interactive displays, it offers a wealth of well-presented information.
Newly modernised and reinterpreted. Excellent 30 minute film about the life of David Lloyd George, plus interesting exhibits about the great man. Access to his grave from the rear of the museum.
Stuart G — Google review
We dropped by the Lloyd George museum with no particular expectations or even prior knowledge. In some respects he's just some guy from a different era who made it into the history books. So what the museum does very well is to show where he came from (very humble roots) and what he achieved (an awful lot). He clearly wasn't perfect (being a philanderer) but his actions made a difference for a lot of people. The museum itself isn't huge but is packed with many relevant objects. You can also visit his childhood home with its outdoor privy. The staff are very helpful and will open it up for you. So there's plenty to take in here if you have any interest in politics or Lloyd George.
Damian C — Google review
Started researching David Lloyd George last year and was fascinated to find how influential he was in defining the course of Britain in the 20th century. Visiting the museum and his childhood home today gave me further insight into this great man and politician. The museum is an absolute gem with plenty of original artifacts. In particular, his personal notes on the treaty of Versailles! Staff are extremely helpful and visiting his grave was a privilege. Well worth a visit into the life of Britain's greatest prime minister!
Mark D — Google review
I visited yesterday with my family as we've found a family link to David Lloyd George, very interesting and staff very helpful in showing us around, The resting place for him is in a peaceful idyllic place....a must see.

This is well laid out Museum dedicated to the life and times of David Lloyd George. He was raised in this small Welsh village and is buried near the Museum. At times a controversial politician. Historically thought he is now considered one of the most effective and transformational politicians of the last two centuries. Well worth a visit. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable.
Graham R — Google review
This was a really well laid out museum. There was a clear explanation and good narrative regarding his life so I came away with a much better understanding of DLG. A lot of museums nowadays I find don't have that clear narrative thread. This means I leave them and don't really feel that I've learned a great deal. In this case I left feeling I had really learned something. Don't forget to go next door to the cottage and to DLG's grave which is the other side of the car park.
Rich L — Google review
Very interesting museum focused on the personal and political life of Prime Minister David Lloyd George. It sensitively balances different sides of the stories. Lots of interesting objects have been donated and are on display to bring the stories to life, along with photographs, film and audio. The cottage and workshop where he grew up is next door and has been recreated inside based on writings about the family home. Lloyd George's grave is a short walk to the river.
Mark C — Google review
Very interesting museum. Some good exhibits and they show the flaws of the great man as well as his undoubted talents. Well worth a visit. The staff were very helpful.

Sweet place. Dog friendly, didnt even mind when one of our dogs was annoyingly barking or when the other one went into the pub for a nosey!

Ice cream shop
Cariad Gelato Piaggio is a charming ice cream cart located in the beautiful town of Criccieth. Visitors rave about the delicious flavors, with favorites like Pistachio Cheesecake and Elderflower Ripple. The friendly owner serves up these delectable treats from a tiny tricycle truck, adding to the delightful experience. Customers enjoy their cones while taking in scenic views of the sea and are eager to return to try more flavors before their holiday ends.
I had a very moreish chunky cherry gelato in a cone and my husband had an elderflower ripple - elderflower ice cream with elderberries. Served from a tiny little ice cream tricycle truck by the friendly owner. Both flavours were delicious and we enjoyed our cones sitting on the grass overlooking the sea in the sun. An excellent ice cream experience. We are keen to return again to try some of the other flavours before our holiday ends!

David is awesome, eternally cheerful, super friendly and humorous service and the best ice creams I have ever tasted. A few years ago our son had a peanut allergy which he thankfully grew out of. David was so good he gave us all the information we needed on allergies and his homemade ice creams and the ingredients and then said ,"The most important thing is this little man here" ill never forget that. He recently said our boys were polite. He does have a very good sense of humour!

Had an amazing raspberry ripple. Very friendly staff! Tasty ice cream. Recommendable xxx
Rafael S — Google review
This is by far and wide the best ice cream I have had in the UK, maybe anywhere. The two scoops deal is definitely worth it and the vegan Mango was like eating a juicy piece of the fruit. Not over sweetened at all. Nothing could be better on a hot day by the water. The locals obviously coming by regularly speak for themselves. Go treat yourself, you won't regret it.
Ama — Google review
The most tastiest icecream. The owner is very nice, and will speak to you about how it's homemade and isn't packed with artificial ingredients etc. The way it is presented is a work of art, what you get for your money is definitely very fair and the choices of flavours is great too. Even the locals were saying how great it tastes and they look forward to coming down to the beach for an icecream. We visited Criccieth in two occasions and visited this little cart twice, we highly recommend the chocolate icecream, the strawberry and the cherry bake well.
Adele J — Google review
Amazing gelato, made by the owner! We had 3 different flavours today and were delicious! Owner was super friendly and funny. Portion was big, especially considering the responsable price. Absolutely recommend :)
Julia K — Google review
Fantastic! We asked whether the ice cream was gluten free - the gentleman serving us understood the need for coeliacs to avoid even crumbs containing gluten. He served us with freshly washed scoops and cut away the surface of the ice cream in the metal tubs so that there was no risk of crumbs from wafer cones. Two delicious scoops of honeycomb and raspberry ripple gelato in a tub :)
Gabriel B — Google review
Absolutely the best frozen treat we could have asked for on a sunny day by the beach. Between us all we had 6 flavours, including the locally picked mountain billberry flavour and each was incredible!! Beyond delicious. Perfect service by the loveliest guy and amazing gelato 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Love the brummies 😘

Lovely friendly cafe with a great choice of food. Great location. It was full outside on our visit but we found a table inside. It was nice and spacious which was a bonus as our dog is quite big and we could easily keep out of the way of other diners. Will definitely visit regularly.

Stopped here yesterday for lunch . Opted for the Welsh Rarebit with 2 x slices of grilled bacon and Welsh onion marmalade. Served on granary bread accompanying by a flat white coffee. Absolutely first class. Cooked to perfection. Never had this dish offered with the optional bacon and onion marmalade. These two simple extras transformed it for me. This is a lovely friendly cafe, is doggie friendly. Large outside elevated seating area overlooking the sea. We will definitely visit again on our next visit to Criccieth. I suggest you do as well. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Brian B — Google review
Stumbled across this cafe on our way out for the day. The cheese scones were delicious and huge!! The Welsh butter served with it was perfectly spreadable and salty. Decaf tea was available and served in a pot. Coffee was also good. The banana and salted caramel cake was also divine. The toilets are very unique! We will definitely come back next time we are in Wales!
Laura — Google review
Great little Cafe with amazing views if the weather holds out sat looking out across the sea the Welsh dragon cider in hand, bacon. Rarebit freshly made followed by a lemon .....not many things can beat that moment.....and the sun keeping you warm as the seating area keeps you fairly safe from wind from the mainland. #welshbliss. Staff super attentive, food simply good, nothing fancy just good food done well. Keep an eye out for seagulls
Joe K — Google review
This place could be so much more, one of the best views in the town but so worn and dated. In desperate need of some TLC especially outside. Absolutely awful toilets. Four of us had coffee and cake and the cake was bone dry and crumbly. Difficult to score the service as you order at the counter and it’s brought out to the table.
Hayley S — Google review
I stopped here because everywhere else was either not open until late afternoon or hugely overpriced. I just wanted a quick lunch without any drama. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit baguette and a can of coca cola. What I got was a Welsh Rarebit on two slices of bread (not a baguette) and a can of Pepsi. None of these things were explained to me by the server when they took the order. If you have very specific dietary requirements this place might make you sick. Oh, they also charged me nearly £15 into the bargain. The only good point about this place is location.
Andrew M — Google review
This is an excellent little cafe that makes beautiful light lunches. The warm baguettes are superb and the scones are to die for. Five stars and a thorough recommendation from me.
Andrew D — Google review
This review is just for the scorn. I have tried the plain scorn from here 7 years ago. At that time it blew my mind! just enough sweetness and crumble goodness, not so heavy even though it was quite a big size. I have been longing for it for 7 years!!! This time was exactly the same, a happy crumble goodness! Sadly disappeared in a second ... Highly recommended

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Castell Criccieth was erected during the late 13th century by Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great, and has undergone various transformations throughout its history. Originally a Motte and Bailey castle, it was later reconstructed as a masonry castle. The site served as a prison until 1404 before becoming an inspiration to writers and painters including Joseph Mallord William Turner.
Criccieth Castle might not be the biggest, but the location is unbeatable—perched right on a headland with panoramic views over the sea and town. It’s got that perfect mix of ruins and atmosphere, and walking around the site feels peaceful and a little magical. Great photo ops, a bit of history, and some seriously stunning scenery. Loved it!
K E — Google review
Great castle to explore, lots of chances for some photos. Lots of steps up to get to the castle but is it worth it for the views. Nice shop at the bottom of the castle. There are a few places where little kids may fall, as there are some parts with no barrier, so take care. Free parking on the side of the road near the castle. entrance.
Jack — Google review
A small castle, perched above a beautiful Welsh seaside town. The views from the top are fantastic and there are plenty of benches and rocky outcrops to sit down and soak up some of that trademarked Welsh seaside town air. It’s around £8.50 for an adult to enter, slightly less for seniors and less than that for children.
Jeremy A — Google review
What an amazing place, you can't go wrong with a castle and this one is no different. It's full of history, the staff where amazing, the place is really well kept, I would recommend anyone to visit, the view's on the way up and at the top are incredible. I will definitely visit again.
Nitram N — Google review
Criccieth Castle is perched upon a craggy cliff affording stunning panoramic views over the bay. A small ruin but worth a visit. Care must be taken as there are some sharp drops without any barriers. Seating dotted about to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Shop, toilets and information centre on site. Parking is free on the roadside.
Paula T — Google review
The castle is very ruined but the views are breathtaking and are well worth it. Some explanatory exhibits in the shop area then it a good but steep walk around the site.
David P — Google review
If you are in the area, Criccieth is a lovely traditional Welsh holiday resort with spectacular views of the Mountains. Easy parking close to the beach with some nice shops and a great Fish & Chip shop.

Caretakered by CADW sitting above the town with views over the beach lists Castell Cricieth. As English Heritage members entrance is free. Pay at the gate is £8.50 per Adult. Unfortunately I made a rookie mistake I didn't check the opening time. So we only grabbed a few pictures of the external castle. The castle is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so we will be returning on Thursday to venture inside.so this will be part 1 with part 2 to follow. Part 2 Thursday we went to look around the castle. With great views 360 degrees. Toilets and gift shop are onsite at the entrance.

The public beach Traeth Criccieth, visited in August 2021, is a charming pebble beach that offers breathtaking views of the medieval castle of Criccieth. It provides opportunities for water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking with rental options available. Parking is convenient and inexpensive, ensuring a hassle-free experience. The promenade surrounding the beach is wheelchair-friendly and offers a pleasant stroll.
Very windy overcast day at Traeth Criccieth but didn't stop a few people enjoying some boarding on the waves. Lovely location in the shadow of Castell Criccieth. Parking was roadside but I can imagine on a sunny day this could be a task to find a ideal space. There's a lifeboat gift shop and a few cafes opposite the front. Was a beautiful beach will be returning hopefully when we have a nice sunny day.

This place is beautiful❤️ worth the visit as it's very close to Haven greenacres holiday park. Parking is fine and easy. Remember to pay for parking but it's cheap and cheerful. Well worth it and plenty to see and do.

We didn't visited on the sunniest of days but we still managed to have an enjoyable walk along the beach (and promenade) plenty of parking nearby along with public toilets and eateries. Of course, what is unique to this beach compared to others in the area is the stunning ruins of the castle overlooking it. Castle is also worth visiting (admission fee applies and check opening times)

A beautiful beach - perfect for swimming and paddleboarding. Pay and display carpark (£5.50 for 12 hours today) right next to the beach and with toilet facilities close by. Limited parking prevents overcrowding. The Wales Coastal path offers great walking opportunities for walkers. Lovely little town with castle ruins to visit too.

The scenery here is magical across the estuary and the beach is lovely and clean, although it is quite stony/pebbly in certain areas. There is plenty of parking along the esplanade or at the car park.

Marine Beach is a pebble-strewn shore that features railings along the roadside. Situated below the road's elevation, access to the beach can be achieved through steps or a ramp located at either end. During low tide, numerous rockpools are formed, nurturing an abundance of marine life, although caution is advised as jellyfish often wash ashore. At high tide, the beach significantly diminishes due to the encroaching sea walls.
In this part of Wales, when you go to the beach you can feel that it is just for you. That's exactly what happened that day and we couldn't complain. A lot of stones, but for the atmosphere of the sea, the empty beach and the views around (the castle and Snowdonia) 5 stars.
Lukasz T — Google review
One of my favorite places by the sea in the UK, beautiful clean water, rocky entry to the water, but really worth it. You can feel like you're in Greece.
Natalia K — Google review
This is a shingle /pebble beach with railings at the road side. The beach is well below the height of the road so you have to use the steps or the ramp to access the beach. This means you can only get down at either end. The rocks create several rockpools at low tide that harbour lots of life, jellyfish are quite often swept into the beach so be careful. At high tide there is verry little beach as the sea comes right up to the sea walls. No toilets or shops on this side but the views out to sea and of the castle are fantastic.
