Had a wonderful walk to the fort during low tide. Can see oyster farms and walk around the fort.

Obviously check tide times..we were there and back in an hour and that included walking around the exterior of the fort.

We didn't get to visit it fully due to the tide, we will be back as it looks great for an afternoon visit followed by fresh mussels at Maison Margat, or mussels at Maison Margat while you wait for the tide to go out!!

Scenic spot
Plage Ile Madame is a charming destination perfect for those who love to explore on foot. The journey to the island takes about 1.5 hours, including the crossing, so be prepared for some sun exposure as much of the path lacks shade. Once there, you can enjoy a leisurely two-hour walk around its scenic perimeter. This tranquil spot is ideal for peaceful strolls and offers stunning views at high tide, especially during sunset when the sky transforms into a canvas of colors.
Nice walk also without ging for pêche à pied. Ferme is closed on sundays.

Nice start or finish to a walk around the island or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the scenery, car parking is available a short distance away and you should remember to check the tide times or your stay may be several hours longer than you planned, refreshments are available not far away at the local products shop and restaurant

Fort Boyard, a sea fort completed in 1859, was originally conceived by Napoleon for coastal defense. It stands as a monumental structure guarding the mouth of the Charente river and has become famous as the set for a popular TV game show. Boat trips departing from La Rochelle and nearby islands offer visitors an opportunity to witness this impressive monument rising above the waves.
Incredible Fort built on an island used for a famous french TV show. You can't really go inside but you can take a boat tour which circle the fort. The whole family really enjoyed this it was really fun !

Unforgettable impressions! I went on a catamaran trip with KAPALOUEST. Great atmosphere, friendly crew, and a really interesting trip. The excursion included an aperitif, and you can also bring your own food. Duration: 4 hours.

This place has been on my bucket list for a while and I recently visited in the last week of June. I used one of the boat tour companies and it was incredible and a must do if you're in La Rochelle. Although you can't land on the fort, it's still spectacular to circle it and admire the fort that's been on our TV in the past, and for some countries still is!

(Translated by Google) Very warm welcome from the young woman at reception. We obtained the information necessary to enjoy our visit to the island despite the fact that it is not resident there all year round. However... A post office shares the premises and there is something to complain about. As the postal agency does not have visibility on Google, I take advantage of this page to leave an opinion which I will leave to transmit. The postwoman, a permanent resident for many (too long) years, is a caricature of the jaded civil servant. Not a hello, not a smile, no possibility of choosing your collector's stamp to send our postcard from the island, derogatory comments about an elderly woman who came to chat for 3 minutes, not a response about a historic building (why the lighthouse does it have two turns? ) Answer found once back on land. It wasn't very complicated. I have deep respect for the daily work of public service agents. The case of this employee is isolated and so caricatured that it is worth seeing. Superb island by the way.

Public beach
Plage des Sables Jaunes is a superb beach located halfway around the island, offering ideal spots for picnicking in the shade. While swimming is possible, it can be challenging due to numerous rocks. The beach exudes a Caribbean island vibe with its lush vegetation and beautiful surroundings. Accessible by bike or on foot, this magnificent island boasts diverse landscapes and a tour that takes about 2.5 hours to complete.
Beautiful beach a little tough to get to buy wonderful spot to swim and play with the kids. If you are lucky you will find plenty of wildlife and hermit crabs.

Fouras Fort, located on Madame Island, is a historical landmark that served as the protector of the Naval Dockyard of Rochefort. The fort features casemates and offers superb retrospectives on the island's fauna, flora, geology, and history. Visitors can enjoy free parking and explore the hospitality inside. Additionally, a promenade nearby provides an opportunity to indulge in some ice cream while admiring the view of Fort Boyard in the distance.
Loved walking around here. Lovely old fort, free entry just on the beach. It was really cold when we went so had to wrap up. well worth a visit.

Impressive and well preserved historic fort with outstanding views over the Charente estuary l'Île-d'Aix, l'Île Madame and Île d'Oléron, Fort Boyard and Fort Enet. Entry is free although there is a fee to access the museum which was closed when we visited, also we were not able to access the top of the tower, however you still get impressive views from the terrace. We took advantage of free parking in a large car park beside the fort.

500 free parkings spots, there seems to be some hospitality inside (not verified by me). If you are Fouras it is worth to check out the promenade and get some ice cream. The view on the famous Fort Boyard is nice but be aware you are far away from it.

Fun Golf Fouras offers an exciting mini-golf experience with two distinct courses catering to varying skill levels, making it ideal for families and players of all ages. The easier course is particularly suitable for younger children, while the more challenging one provides a fun test for seasoned golfers. One unique feature is the provision of little fishnets to retrieve balls that land in water hazards, adding a playful twist to the game.
Two courses to choose from, easy and more difficult. Easy one was perfect for a 7 year old. Added bonus: if your ball falls into the water, they provide you with little fishnets to get it out again!
