Park
Nature & Parks
Forsyth Park, located in the Savannah Historic District, is a 30-acre urban public park that serves as the heart of outdoor life in the city. Originally developed in the 1840s and expanded later, it features a historic fountain, Confederate and Spanish-American War memorials, fragrant gardens, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts. The park hosts various cultural events such as film screenings and sports matches.
This is a beautiful park in the historic district. Lots of lovely shade trees and new benches. Many young locals out for a walk or run. Very active large park. Several historical sites and a fountain ⛲ and a nice restaurant. Dog friendly.
David M — Google review
Beautiful place to go for a walk, have a picnic, or just chill on a bench and people- watch or read a book! The trees are absolutely amazing!!! They also have a really cool farmers’ market on Saturday mornings with fresh produce, of course, and much more - food, art, various artisan goods, and fun, quirky surprises waiting to be discovered!
Jennifer W — Google review
This is where I'd go daily if I were living here. What a fantastic park to have an afternoon stroll, relax at one of the beaches and people watch, or find a little spot on the grass to end the day. Great history too and is famous with many films featuring the park.
Hung T — Google review
Don't miss this stop. It's breath taking. Beautiful old oaks adorn this park and create an inviting place to read, nap or people watch. You could bike and run, but not this time :). Water fountain was being repaired so no water works. But beautiful non the less.
Ladeegeek G — Google review
Forsyth Park is such a beautiful and dynamic place! There’s always something going on. people having picnics, kids playing, sports, and sometimes even live music. The vibe is amazing, full of life and good energy. It’s a perfect spot for walking, relaxing, or just spending time outdoors.
Samira — Google review
Really cool park in Savannah. Very popular with travelers and locals alike. The Fountain is probably the most popular draw. But, tucked away in a corner of the park is a walled garden. I've been there about 20 times and could only access it maybe 3 or 4 times. Kind of reminds you of the secret garden. Great place to stretch your legs, take your dogs, or even just relax and read a book.
Grant F — Google review
This park is fabulous! It’s a busy place on Saturday with soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, basketball, and anything else you can imagine. It also features a wonderful market along the central, live oak-line walkway. The fountain is beautiful and there’s construction happening and it looks like maybe a new zen garden is coming. There is a stage and I’d love to come back for a concert one day. Locals and visitors should take advantage of this amazing outdoor space early and often!
Heath S — Google review
Beautiful park and it should be one of the first places to visit when you are in Savannah. There is also free parking by the tenis courts and free bus that can take you from there to the waterfront and free ferry wich is great for sightseeing the whole downtown area.

Bonaventure Cemetery, immortalized in the best-selling "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" novel, is a serene and beautiful cemetery located just east of the Historic District. Established in 1846, this Southern Gothic garden spans over 160 acres on a bluff above the Wilmington River. The cemetery's landscape is a mix of natural beauty and sculptural artistry, with tree-lined roads adding to its unique charm.
Walks through old cemeteries are always quietly thought provoking and Bonaventure is no exception. Its uniquely southern semitropical environment gives it a very different feeling, moodier than most even in the blazing hot mid morning sun of August. Beautiful stonework throughout with often poignant inscriptions and dates of historical significance. Fewer statuary than I expected but still several really pretty but weathered examples. This cemetery is well worth a visit though I’d opt for going without the ever talking guides.
Thomas G — Google review
Beautiful cemetery! Duration: 1 hour Parking: free (I recommend just parking at the entrance and roaming) There is really no need for a paid tour guide. Simply ask your AI if choice to give you a tour of the major points of interest.
Lou F — Google review
Bonaventure Cemetery is the most beautiful and unusual cemetery I’ve ever seen. The huge oak trees draped in moss give it such a mysterious atmosphere… so many beautiful sculptures… so peaceful and timeless.
Daryna D — Google review
Beautiful cemetery with a lot of history. Great place to walk around and get some exercise here. You can donate a few bucks and they will give you a map. Very nice in the summertime
Nick W — Google review
Beautiful cemetery with dramatic views of moss draped live oaks and ornate gravestones and monuments. Worth a visit if you are staying in nearby Savanah. For horror movie buffs, Lucio Fulci taped a few scenes here for his 1980 move, City of the Living Dead.
Theo H — Google review
Absolutely amazing. My partner and I travel the world focusing on famous cemeteries. This one did not disappoint. Make sure to get a map from the front office. Sections C through H are where most of the interesting internments and statues are
Devin L — Google review
I don’t know what I was expecting, we came to visit because my mother-in-law really wanted to go. I think I could’ve spent all day here, in fact we plan to come back and take a guided tour. You walk through and want to know more about the people buried here. The graves and families entombed here are incredibly thought-provoking. Lots of tragic history mixed with the Gothic southern surroundings. It’s an incredible place, I’d highly recommend doing a guided tour to get the most out of it. They even had a Revolutionary War soldier and of course the famous “Little Gracie”.
Lisa N — Google review
This cemetery is just breathtaking! Everywhere you look there is beauty, whether it's the ornate headstones and mausoleums or the moss draped trees. My wife and I were married here and most of our photos were taken in the cemetery. You can't find a bad backdrop, no matter how hard you look! We are looking forward to visiting again.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is a 19th-century Roman Catholic church known for its neo-gothic architecture, stunning stained glass, and music recitals. Situated in Savannah's Historic District, it features twin 200-foot white spires that dominate the skyline. The cathedral is one of the largest in the southern states and attracts numerous visitors who come to admire its external architecture.
This cathedral basilica was BEAUTIFUL. The member of the church who gave us the history on the cathedral was very knowledgeable, kind and non judging. I would LOVE to visit here again. I'm not religious however I would definitely love to attend a service here one day.
Kaylee G — Google review
A beautiful and grand church building. The tour is self-guided and can be completed in a relatively short time. A docent was present to speak with visitors. He was friendly and knowledgeable. If you like organ music, go early. We were told that the organist often practices during the first hour of the morning tour period. The best part: there is no admission fee! A nominal freewill offering is requested.
James G — Google review
Absolutely beautiful! I did not take an official tour. Just went in and explored. Friendly staff. The front outside was under construction, but I think it will be lovely once it is restored. This is an historical landmark, beautiful, serene and definitely worth seeing. Don't forget to leave a donation before you leave; they need this to keep the cathedral beautiful and historic.
Nicole Z — Google review
Beautiful place! It was easy to get in, and the views inside are absolutely stunning. They even share great info about the church while you’re there. I recommend checking their website for hours before you go, but we were able to walk right in and even caught a quick performance from a band — such a nice surprise!
Jennifer F — Google review
The is an absolute stunning place of worship. Definitely take the time to sit and absorb all the beauty. As a devote Catholic, it was a wonderful place to connect with my Lord Jesus Christ. However, you don't have to be religious to appreciate how special this place is..... I highly recommend stopping by if you are in town looking for a moment that matters.

Highly recommend visiting! A must-see on your trip to Savannah. It is absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. Stunning architecture inside and out. There are areas inside for prayer and candle lighting. You can come and go as you please. There are guides in there to answer questions or give more information if needed. I will be back again.
Megan — Google review
The Cathedral was beautiful. It is open to the public during certain times as listed outside the building, but does have an active congregation with masses. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged and appreciated. Guests are asked to be respectful and quiet so those around them can have a quiet prayer time. We are definitely glad we hopped off the tour bus to go inside and see the beauty inside.

Beautiful Church. The stainless is beautiful beautiful pipe organ located in the back on the upper level. They do offer tours. It is open to everyone. They are currently doing construction sonit looks closed but it is not. If in Savannah and you like checking out old churches I highly recommended visiting.

Savannah City Market is a historic four-block open-air market in Savannah's Historic District that has been around since the 1700s. It has withstood significant events throughout history and is now preserved as a landmark. The market is housed within restored warehouse buildings and offers various shopping and dining experiences, including British bakeries, seafood houses, daquiri dispensaries, and ice cream shops. Additionally, it features local artists showcasing their work in different mediums.
This was a fun stop to explore when getting off at the trolley stop. The prohibition museum was a must see and lunch at Paula Dean and Sons restaurant was wonderful.

Interesting place. Dog and adult beverages friendly. Lots of shops and places to eat. The pizza at Vinnie's was delicious. A very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours before dinner.
Adam — Google review
The flags that were on display said "Fall in Love with the City Market" and that was an easy one for us! This market was huge with most buildings having two floors loaded with unique and bougie shops, art galleries, food specialties, and much much more. Proprietors were so friendly and informative and attentive to your curiosities and we were in no pressure for time to leave any shop not visited. A must if you're ever visiting the downtown Savannah area!
Doug F — Google review
This place was an unexpected treat! Reminded me of 'The French Market' in New Orleans! More open air than the French Market. Wide pedestrian only streets made walking easy. Nice clusters of retail shops, art galleries, and restaurants of every type. Better yet, this place stays open til 10pm! Yes, It's a tourist trap but it's NOT a bunch of 'Made in China' crap! It ALL local craft persons selling well-made, functional items. Check out the gorgeous bags made of recycled sail cloth! The shoe place next door was awesome! In need of a sugar fix? FREE PRALINE SAMPLE just down half a block! While I still yearn for New Orleans, this place was a lovely substitute! I was in Savannah 2 days during which I went to VINNIE'S 3 times. It's that GOOD! IT'S ALL GOOD!!!!

Get your walking shoes on! Block after block. Great covered open market. Many wonderful artisans. Has something for everyone!!! Spices, soaps, handmade jewelry & Gullah baskets. Leather purses - wallets. So much more too!

Not a hotel. Small shopping and eating district near historic downtown Savannah. Great for a date night or a fun afternoon! The art gallery is really cool!

Check out the City Market when you are visiting Savannah. Great restaurants and shops. Played pool in one of the bars and enjoyed the square.
Suzanne B — Google review
I wish there were more shops here. It's really only a handful of stores and restaurants. I like that it's easier to find a parking spot here than going to the riverfront, but the riverfront is so much better with many stores, restaurants, and things to do and see.

River St is a historic and charming street located along the river. It is lined with landmark hotels, restaurants, and shops, offering visitors a glimpse of old-world charm. The street features 200-year-old brick streets and original steep steps, giving it an authentic feel from the past. Restored in the 1970s, walking along River St feels like stepping back in time. However, visitors should take caution as navigating the old brick streets can be tricky due to their uneven surface.

Leopold's Ice Cream is a beloved ice cream parlor that has been a staple for over 100 years. Founded by three Greek brothers, the shop is now run by their descendants and continues to draw long lines of eager customers. The parlor offers a variety of classic and seasonal flavors, including the original 1919 Tutti Fruitti rum ice cream with candied fruit and Georgia pecans.
You guys truly hit the sweet spot for our family! My kids absolutely loved their visit, and it's easy to see why this place is a local gem. The first thing that impressed us was the fantastic variety on their menu. From classic scoops to creative concoctions, there's a flavor and a treat to please every member of the family, no matter how picky their ice cream preferences might be. My personal highlight, however, was the hot fudge sundae. It was genuinely "out of this world" – the rich, warm fudge paired perfectly with the creamy ice cream, creating an indulgent and unforgettable dessert. It's the kind of sundae that makes you want to come back for more. Beyond the delicious ice cream, the atmosphere was welcoming and kid-friendly, making it a perfect spot for a treat after school or on a weekend outing. If you're in the area and looking for high-quality ice cream with plenty of choices and a truly exceptional hot fudge sundae, Leopard's Ice Cream is a must-visit!
Murali N — Google review
I will be the first to acknowledge that I am fluent in hyperbole, but Leopold's is legitimately the best ice cream I've had in my 29 years and 223 days on planet Earth. We were finishing off a couple martinis and quickly google searched "ice cream near me," and I nearly choked on an oyster when Leopold's popped up with 4.7 stars on 13,505 google reviews. Those numbers are UNPRECEDENTED... 2006 Kobe Bryant numbers. 2012 Calvin Johnson numbers. We made the short walk over on a blessed Sunday afternoon and were met with no line. I taste tested 4 different flavors, and the staff was so helpful in recommending, and more importantly, not recommending things based on my pallet. I can't remember the exact flavors I got, and for that I am sorry my dear reader. I have failed you. 1 scoop was their variation of cookies and cream, and the other was some peanut butter cookie kind of flavor that was blessed by the hand of Zeus himself. This was the perfect ice cream. It was so good that my girlfriend and I were on facetime the other night trying to see if they ship nationally, which they do but you need to buy 5 pints. Worth it tbh. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

Finished a long walking afternoon with a stop in Leopold’s with the pups (outdoor seating). Understood there would be a line so not an issue for us and it moved pretty quickly. We had a small cup of chocolate chip and another of banana. The dogs had a pup cup of whipped cream though the offer a non-dairy dog dessert. Some of the best ice cream we have had (and we have had a lot). Serving size was generous, super creamy and a had good/genuine taste.

I always enjoy going to this old fashion cream parlor. I always meet people in the line visiting Savannah from different places. The staff is always nice. The ice cream is great. I always like getting the rum bisque. There is an area where you can sit down and enjoy your ice cream. They offer a variety of flavors. There is always seasonal flavors. They always have a line for this place. I drive over an hour to get ice cream here. Some things are just worth it. The brownie sundae is one of them. .

Came here with friends and made a core memory ! I am officially obsessed with Leopoldo Ice Cream. Like… someone please stop me from booking a flight back from NYC just for another scoop because I might actually do it 😂✈️🍦 The ice cream here is on a whole different level sooooo rich, creamy, and so full of flavor that my taste buds basically stood up and applauded. The vibe of the shop is so cute and nostalgic, and the moment you walk in, you just know you’re about to experience something special. Every scoop I tried was heavenly, but the real star? The way it made me feel. Pure happiness in cup form. Savannah, you’re lucky to have this gem… and NYC, please take notes. If you’re ever in Savannah, RUN — don’t walk — to Leopoldo’s. And if you catch me there again, just know I definitely flew down for the ice cream 😉
Tanvi D — Google review
From the moment we stepped in, the staff was incredibly attentive and gave us samples of various flavors. The ice cream was very smooth and decadent. The portion was great, too! I appreciate that they kept some of the original flavors from 1919, like their lemon custard and tutti frutti. I didn’t try either, but I could imagine the tutti frutti with the pieces of candied fruit in it being a favorite from that time. My grandfather loved rum cake with candied fruit in it, so it seems to fit the time of the store. I got the Savannah Socialite and Cookies^2. The pecans were the perfect texture: not too crunchy, not too soft. It was very rich. One scoop of that was enough. I couldn’t have eaten two because it would have been too much richness. Having the second scoop be Cookies^2 was perfect. The vanilla was made with tiny bits of cookie dough throughout (I mean super tiny. They called it their chocolate chip cookie ice cream with cookie dough in it.) I would definitely come back here regularly if I lived nearby. The vibe was very cool, too. Very old style with red everywhere. It felt like a step back in time. They even have what looked like a functioning jukebox!
Lindsey P — Google review
It was pretty awesome going here and getting a little blast from the past as well as modern ice flavor choices coupled with friendly and energetic service. I believe our servers name was Ashley and she was so amazing. I typically prefer fruit based ice creams and I didn't see much in the counter that appealed to me but Ashley said, oh we have more than just this and asked questions about what I liked and recommended the fruit sundae and even asked if we wanted it in a glass bowl, thats where the nostalgia really kicked it. I seriously want to go back to Savannah just to get this ice cream and see these awesome people. Thank you for creating an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I will never forget the kindness and that big smile Ashely greeted us with. There was also a gentleman that would check on everyone in the dining area and he was so cool and friendly, also smiling the entire time. I didnt catch his name but it was clear to me that him and Ashley truly enjoyed working there. Also, this was probably the best strawberry ice cream ive ever had in my life.

The Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters is a museum located in Savannah, Georgia. Built in 1819, this English Regency-style house was once owned by the Owens-Thomas family and later donated to become part of Savannah's Telfair Museums. The museum showcases the lives of the slaves who lived and worked in the house, including their living quarters with hand-painted ceilings in haint blue, believed to ward off evil spirits.
I'm glad we toured this place. Our kids loved the history and the very knowledgeable staff/tour guides, made the history of the house and how it was ran, very imaginable. The house is very well preserved and the story of the house itself is intriguing. Our kids were fascinated. At the end of the tour, you are able to read the captured notes from letters sent from some of the home's inhabitants. Pictures are welcomed! I wish I would've taken more, but I was REALLY intrigued.

No trip to Savannah would be complete without a guided tour of this truly incredible and historically significant home. Our tour guides' passsion and deep knowledge of the location and it's many layers of history made for a meaningful, moving, at times surprising and deeply instructive experience.
Wind S — Google review
We didn’t book in advance but were able to join a group beginning a guided tour almost immaculate. The guide was outstanding. It’s an interesting visit in terms of the unique architecture, the view of life at that time in such a home with enslaved people an integral part of the system, and the unique historical roles played by some of the inhabitants. So, a small place, a home, but an experience that’s interesting and revealing on several levels. We’re glad we stumbled onto this place.

A powerful and beautifully preserved piece of Savannah’s history. The Owens-Thomas House offers a rare blend of stunning Regency architecture and honest storytelling about both the wealthy family and the enslaved people who lived there. The restored slave quarters are especially moving. Guided tours are informative and well-paced. Highly recommend for a meaningful and educational experience.

Excellent opportunity to learn the true history of Savannah including the treatment of enslaved people. The tour was very accurate full of details of the period. The home itself is amazing and well-kept.

Must, must, must. Most significant tour in Savannah. Tickets are $30, but include two other places, not quite as spectacular. Deep look into the history of one of Savannah's most important houses. Great guides!

Wormsloe State Historic Site, located in Savannah, Georgia, is a picturesque historic landmark featuring the ruins of a Colonial estate, gardens, trails, and an oak-lined driveway. Once owned by Noble Jones, one of the original settlers of Savannah who arrived with General James Oglethorpe in 1733, this site offers visitors the chance to explore tabby ruins - known as the oldest standing structure in Savannah - and Noble Jones' original burial site.
I had just been to Bonaventure Cemetery and was completely eaten up by mosquitoes so I almost didn't get out when I pulled in. But I'm glad I did! You do have to pay to get in but they had a veteran discount for me which was nice. 😊 I chose to walk the 1.5 mile long live oak, Spanish moss, tree lined avenue. I was alone at the time, nobody was really there yet. It was peaceful and just so gorgeous. Would have loved to have spent more time hiking the trails there. Also, in my 1.5 hours there, I got only one mosquito but at the very end. I was so surprised but thankful! This beautiful place is definitely worth visiting. Completed shaded the whole time pretty much too!

Wormsloe State Historic Site is a must-see when visiting Savannah. From the moment you enter the breathtaking oak-lined drive, you know you’re in for something special. The grounds are both peaceful and full of history, with plenty of opportunities to learn and explore at your own pace. I really appreciated that visitors can choose to walk the full trail system or hop on the trolley for part of the journey—it makes the experience accessible for everyone. The weather was perfect during our visit, which made wandering through the shaded paths even more enjoyable. To top it off, there’s a charming little shop with unique gifts and keepsakes, a nice way to end a truly memorable outing.

I’m so grateful that they now have a ranger hook up seating to a tractor and took us down to the museum. They stopped letting folks in the main gate because there were too many cars on the mile and a half stretch, and it was destroying the roots of the trees, not to mention aggravation for the people who live there. They have a very informative museum as well as a trail down to the tabby ruins and Jones’s Cemetery

Beautiful oak trees with spanish moss. $12 per person for entry will get you a ride to the tourist center down the famous oak tree lined gravel drive. Once dropped off there are a few miles of available hiking in that area. Some old ruins in this area including the remnants of a fort. We chose to walk the roughly 1.5 miles back to the parking lot but rides are available every 30 minutes.

The park is always beautiful. I love the new tram going down to the museum. The staff is wonderful. There’s a lot of beautiful trails to walk and cool sites to see. Make sure you bring bug spray and sunscreen with you during the summertime. It gets hot, sunny and buggy. Also there’s lots of great photos to take.
Jay H — Google review
Very beautiful area, tickets for adults are $12 each. Waited a little more than 10 minutes for the tour tractor to pull up. Also if you love history this place has plenty, I was just to distracted by all the gorgeous trees and the squirrels.😂
Corrina W — Google review
You HAVE to visit! This place is incredible. The stunning live oak avenue is just the start. At the visitor center, you get a quick history lesson, a fascinating museum, and a great gift shop. But the real magic is outside: walk to the 1737 tabby ruins (oldest in Savannah!), explore trails with gorgeous marsh views, and catch the living history demonstrations in the Colonial Life Area (afternoons, weather permitting). Plus, five more miles of nature trails if you're up for it. For only $12 an adult, this is an absolute steal for a day of history and nature!" Parking is free

Overall it is worth the trip there for the historical significance of the site. We rode out on the tram but walked back to the visitor center afterwards. Very nice walk.

The Olde Pink House is a top choice for experiencing authentic Southern cuisine in Savannah. Housed in an elegant 18th-century Georgian mansion, the restaurant offers a sophisticated dining experience with portrait-lined walls, fireplaces, and shimmering chandeliers. The menu features inventive Southern dishes including seafood, beef, pork, and chicken options as well as classic Southern favorites like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes.
We made reservations for five at the Pink House months earlier and it was wonderful. The property is beautiful and is in a great location easy to walk to. The service was five star, they were attentive and answered all our questions. We ordered chicken pot pie, the bourbon glazed pork loin was medium rare and it paired well with the pecan glazed sweet potato and collared greens which were the best I ever had. The fried chicken looked great and the portion was generous. The interior was beautifully decorated. We sat in the green room which had a cozy fireplace and a magnificent chandelier. This was definitely a must see.

This was a fantastic dining experience from beginning to end. Our server Shaina was an absolute super star! She was tremendously welcoming and gracious and very helpful. It was obvious that she enjoys what she does and loves all the great things that The Olde Pink House brings to the table. She was extremely knowledgeable on the entire menu as well as the history of this special establishment. The food was absolutely delicious and full of great flavors that were fresh and cooked perfectly. The cocktails were excellent as well. Another nice touch was a very special woman that came around to sing a requested song or sing happy birthday. I was fortunate enough to request a tune and also sing a duet with her on Amazing Grace! Overall. It was a fantastic evening and one that will remain in my heart for a long time. Definitely worth checking out if you are in town!

Not to be missed, make a reservation. A lovely historic house with well trained staff. Food was creative and presented well. A little warm inside (they had the fires on low for some reason), - I felt it could have used a couple of fans to move the air. However a great restaurant and very popular for a reason.

Having dinner at the Olde Pink House was such a treat! Our server Issac was so sweet and knowledgeable, the food was perfect, and the atmosphere was a cozy and welcoming 10/10. We had the stuffed flounder, the fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, the southern sushi, the fried green tomatoes, and the chocolate tarte for dessert. Every item was equally delicious in its own right. We also popped downstairs to the tavern and would absolutely go back and have drinks and food there again! So cozy and historic and the live music was such a great touch.

There is a history that is celebrated here. From the basement bar to the second floor ballroom, there is a story. The staff was excellent and gave a warm welcome. The food was very good, I do not think a crumb was left behind. Definitely a place worth visiting, and if you’re on a budget just go to the basement bar for a drink and learn about the homes history.

We booked a table for lunch a month in advance. Dinner is more difficult to book. The setting is beautiful, in the historic district opposite savanna's Reynolds Square. The house dates from 1771 and it's classically appointed . The food and drinks were all tasty - classic Southern fare with creative twists. Service was attentive but a bit rushed. Worth a visit! [See also my review of Planter's Tavern in the basement.]

If your looking for some authentic fancy Southern cuisine, The Olde Pink House is the place to go! I had the shrimp and grits with collared greens. DELICIOUS!! Leave room for dessert, and get the Peanut Butter and Pralines Chocolate Bomb. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE MY TASTE BUDS WILL NEVER FORGET!! P.S. This dessert is big enough for 2 people. All in all, you will not be disappointed. ENJOY!!

I cannot express enough just how lovely our dining experience was. We went in for lunch and enjoyed it so much came back for a light dinner at the bar. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. When the host walked us to our table it wasn't quite ready yet so he gave us a quick guided tour of a few rooms while we waited. When I couldn't find the bathroom I asked a buser to point me in the right direction and he stopped what he was doing to walk me to the restroom while providing interesting facts about the house. Our bartender in the evening was TJ, it was his birthday and he had a parade of well wishers stopping by, which just added to the friendly atmosphere. We even got to enjoy a lovely performance of Happy Birthday by a member of staff. The food didn't disappoint, and the cocktails were delicious! We loved our experience fun start to finish!

With almost 20,000 square feet of indoor gallery space and expansive outdoor areas, visitors can explore the rich history and architecture of this iconic landmark.
Visiting this lovely home as mentioned in the book and seen in the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, was so intriguing. Our guide was very informative and shared very interesting details . The home and garden is so very beautiful. Picture taking inside is not permitted. There is also a delightful gift store.

Our guide was just great All original furniture and artifacts. Its at least 3 stories but since family still lives at the house you only get to enjoy a portion of the 1st floor. Its still well worth the time (30 to 45 mins) and price. The ladies seemed to enjoy the large gift shop

Very nice and informative staff. Cannot take pictures within the home. I was a bit disappointed to hear that but the tour was very nice. This is a provate residence still in use by one of Jim's nieces so I can understand the privacy concerns. Overall great home to visit in Savannah.

Beautiful house full of history the 30 minute tour only takes you through the 1st floor because the family still lives on the upper floor of the home. This house is bursting with 17th and 18th century items that the tour guide will give you the history of. The tour costs $13.50 per person and honestly is completely worth it if you’re a history buff or if you’ve seen the movie or read the book ( Midnight in the garden of good and evil) this house is a real must see!!

First African Baptist Church, established in 1773 under Reverend George Leile's leadership, is a significant landmark in Savannah. It was a crucial stop on the Underground Railroad and served as a sanctuary for slaves. The church offers guided tours where visitors can see original pews, a pipe organ, an archive room, and the former hiding place for slaves marked by ventilation holes.
A tour that you must do while in Savannah! Our tour guide, who was the associate minister, did an excellent job explaining the history behind this beautiful church and its congregation. Tours are normally at 11 am and 1 pm. The church website has more detailed information and you can purchase your tickets ahead of time online. The proceeds from the tickets go back to an amazing non profit that is associated with the church that supports job training and resources for those in need.

We had a great experience and highly recommend coming here to learn the deep history and not just of the church but of our history. The reverend that gave us the tour was exceptional and you know he is passionate about the history, the congregation and his church. Proceeds from the tickets go directly to helping the community and those in we’d.

If you’re going to do ANY tour in Savannah, do this one. The best tour I’ve been on, maybe ever, I highly, highly recommend doing the tour while you are in Savannah. Derek was awesome. very informative, personable and has a lot of wisdom. I walked away realizing how ignorant I truly am on the history of African Americans in our country, and am so grateful to learn about the people who sacrificed so much to share the word of God. Plus the money from your tickets goes to their nonprofit that helps give people the tools they need to find jobs and get the rehabilitation they need.

This was one of the best tours and learning experiences that I was blessed to have experience here in Savannah. Love the tour guide! Love the history shared and knowing what you pay is going toward a worthy cost in the local community to help uplift those in need. Remember - We are not makers of history. We are made by history... This was great and I would encourage ANYONE who likes African history and would like to know the origin of The First African Baptist Church and MORE, you must tour this place. Peace ✌🏾

This tour was historical storytelling in the best possible way. Our guide Danielle shed so much light on the church, its leaders, congregation, and so much love, history and life packed into the walls. We learned how critical it is to preserve culture and lessons learned. Our visit to First African Baptist Church was the highlight of our trip to Savannah.

This is a place you must visit. The culture and history are engaging and humbling. Derrick, our tour guide, was impressive with his knowledge. $14 per adult and well worth it. The history of the unground railroad will leave you with a spirit of gratitude. Rich history. All pictures taken by myself.

What a lovely place to spend the day. There is a little cafe and gift shop, the exhibits themselves, and then there is a great courtyard and hangout spot outside where you can just sit and read or eat lunch. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and the exhibits were unique and beautiful. I'd come here every time I visit Savannah. It was so lovely listening to students talk to their professors about art and architecture; SCAD is the best. Pro tip: if you get into the city before check-in time like I did, they will check your luggage for you. You can hang out here and walk all around to other places without having to carry around your bags. Tickets are only $10 and worth every penny.

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING. If you're anywhere near Savannah, run, don't walk, to the SCAD Museum of Art. My recent trip was seriously mind-blowing, and the overall vibe is next-level, totally worth the price of admission. The museum's architecture is iconic, period. You walk straight into that massive, preserved railway shed—what I call the Hall of Bells dream—and it hits you immediately: this incredible collision of raw, historical Savannah gray brick and ultra-modern, super-sleek design. It's grand, yes, but zero pretension. They absolutely crushed the atmosphere. I saw every single current show, and the curation is absolutely killing it: • Rana Begum's Reflection was an absolute highlight. Her use of light, geometry, and industrial materials is pure perceptual sorcery. Seriously, the way the pieces shift and glow as you move through the space is immersive, and it legitimately stops you in your tracks. • The André Leon Talley exhibit, Style Is Forever, is a cultural event you can't miss. It’s pure, unadulterated fashion drama and a gorgeous, necessary tribute to an absolute legend. • I was equally impressed by the deeply resonant and powerful statements in Michi Meko's So Black and So Blue and the vibrant, electric cultural mashup in Tomokazu Matsuyama's Liberation Back Home. The diversity and quality across the board were simply stellar. This place isn't just showing art; it's serving an experience. Go for the mind-blowing exhibits, stay because you can't get enough of that electric vibe. You need this in your life. Thank you, Savannah!

Very interesting exhibit of contemporary art of SCAD alumni. Some exquisite; some pretty "off the wall"; one video-based exhibit was nearly epilepsy-indicing --- not enjoyable at all: trying to express his childhood traumas, but still somewhat interesting. The exhibit of hand tied fishing flies was an interesting example of functional form AND art.

I honestly had no desire to do this tour because I thought it was a tourist trap. However, the person I was traveling with really wanted to do it, so we did. It was honestly such a great tour! You learn so much history about the city and the buildings. You can also hop on and hop off as much as you'd like, which made it super convenient. We hopped on and off a lot so we had a lot of different drivers and all of them were amazing! If you're in Savannah, I definitely recommend doing this tour!

We took the Old Town Trolley Tour 8 years ago. We liked it so much that we decided to take it again. We had a fantastic time from 11AM to 5:30PM. We had three different drivers on 10/10/25. Ellis was our favorite as he provided us with a comprehensive, congenial history of the city as we traveled to 16 stops in 90+ minutes. He also recommended an excellent place for lunch, which we enjoyed. We also ate dinner there. We had perfect weather - sunny and cloudy, and no rain. It was cool as we rode from stop to stop. We went to every stop, and when it started over again, we got off at stop 10 to eat and shop. We walked to stop 11 and got on again. This time we got off at the Riverwalk. We shopped, and got back on, riding to stop 9 where our car was parked at the visitor center. There are two tours: 75 minute historical tour in an enclosed white bus and a 90 minute tour in an open air yellow bus with individual & different commentary by the driver you have. We have not tried the first one. We like being able to get on and off, and listening to different drivers' perspectives. The staff at each of the visitor centers housing the tour are friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us coupons with our map. Unfortunately we forgot to use them when we visited and shopped at five of the locations! Maybe you'll be more aware and remember to use them after your tour!

The Savannah Theatre, established in 1818, is a historic and iconic venue that offers a diverse range of musical plays and shows. The talented cast delivers high-energy performances throughout the year, featuring an array of music from different eras. Some past and upcoming performances include Jukebox Journey, Savannah Live, The Beat Goes On, and Christmas Tradition. The theater itself is housed in the Historic Savannah Theatre building on Chippewa Square, designed by British architect William Jay.
Went on a ghost hunt on Friday, June 13 2025 and it was AMAZING! I’ve been a paranormal investigator for over 15 years and the Savannah theater has been on my list for many years! The time finally arrived and I was so excited! Micah and Courtney were our hosts and gave us the deep and prolific history, how all of the equipment is used and let us go anywhere to investigate! Some things I’d like to keep to myself but it was such a meaningful experience! Thank you Micah and Courtney for being wonderful guides and good stewards of this wonderfully special place! Great experience on Halloween night. Paranormal experience. My son and I had many personal experiences. Got to interact with the umm residents through spirit box emf detectors and so much more. Micha and Courtney are obviously very passionate about what they do. Always very engaging. They give you the freedom to do your own investigation and yet are always checking in to assist you, give suggestions, or talk to the residents themselves. It was really nice to see how much they had respect for the spirits that still reside there and the history of the building. They are very open to expanding their understanding as well. My son and I can't wait to go back. IMO the theater was a five star. And Micha and Courtney were 5 star. They really bring the place to life with their passion for the theater and what they do. Thank you Micha and Courtney! With much gratitude from Beaufort!

A Must-Visit in Savannah! The Savannah Theatre is an amazing blend of history and local charm, while still delivering a true Broadway feel. Every performer on stage brings the show to life with energy and talent. The sound quality is excellent, and the seating is as comfortable as a movie theater. The lobby offers light refreshments for purchase during intermission, and balcony seating is also available. We absolutely love coming here — in fact, we make trips to Savannah just to see the shows. It’s always a highlight of our visit!

Bright my granddaughter to see Hairspray. The cast presentation was excellent. My only complaint was the lack of restrooms space during the intermission. Other than that perfect place to see a production

Little Shop of Hoorors was just the latest fun production we attended. It was very professionally done with top notch casting and transformative set design. The leads playing Audrey and Seymour have incredible voices and stage presence. Audrey 2 was monstrously good and, at the end, my question of whether it was automated or performed by a puppeteer was answered when their star puppeteer popped out of the plant! The whole cast shone bright! A++ Every show we've seen here has been a delight. But my favorite is the Christmas variety show they put on every year. We never miss it! The performance has something for everyone and never fails to get my whole family in the holiday spirit. If you're a fan of musical theatre get your tickets to any performance. You won't be disappointed!

It doesn't shy away from showcasing the harsh realities, with exhibits including the living conditions of enslaved nursemaids and documented abuse. Operated by the Coastal Heritage Society, this museum is part of a group of venues that offer combination tickets for access to multiple sites over three days.
Had a great day visiting this beautiful place. Loved hearing the stories of the Gullah women working, cleaning crabs, and oysters. The tour was fun and interesting. I bought a cookbook there and decided to go home and make Jambalaya. It's delish. 😋

It's always a treat to visit the Pin Point Heritage Museum in historical Pin Point, Savannah. My father's people are from the Gullah Geechee culture. They were enslaved from West Africa (Sierra Leone, Angola and other West African countries) forced to live/work in America. Their religion/spiritual practice is Seeking. This museum is a treasure and worth a visit. There is also a documentary entitled, Take Me To The Water and many books written about the Gullah Geechee culture. You should check them out! You will likely see a resident crawling around the museum, the Fiddler crab. The other natural beauty that is throughout Savannah are the mighty water oak trees draped with Spanish moss. They add to the charm of the city. 🫶🏽🙏🏽😊

I found this museum using ChatGPT looking for African American tours for my Ashanti Too Book Club from Memphis TN celebrating our 20 year anniversary. The club had 13 members to attending the tour. The tour was outstanding I strongly recommend this tour to everyone. The video, the tour guide and the exhibits were so enthralling that we didn’t want it to end. The tour was too short we could have listened for another hour. The cost of $15 was so inexpensive for the quality of the tour. A must see and visit when you come to Savannah.

I highly recommend visiting this museum, located in the former A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory (on the banks of the famous Moon River!), which was vital to the local economy until 1985. The exhibits vividly illustrate how Gullah Geechee families lived, showcasing tools for seafood harvesting, handmade toys, and everyday objects that highlight the community’s creativity and resourcefulness. Our guide was excellent. She shared real insights and personal stories, providing a deeper understanding of the culture, traditions, and language of the Gullah Geechee people. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. This museum offers a link to the past and ensures that the legacy of Pin Point continues to be studied and appreciated for generations to come.

Very interesting. Experience the history of the Gulla Geechees, originally from West Africa who created a shrimp and oyster industry in Pin Point. About 100 Gulla Geechees still live in the area. The Moon River, from the song, is located there. Everyone should visit.

We had a history-filled tour with Gail, who has lived in Pin Point her whole life. It included a half-hour documentary detailing the history of the community and the crab and oyster business which sustained them for more than a century. The buildings included photos of the people who had worked there and recordings of their voices talking about the work. There's a gift shop where mementos, tees, books and other memorabilia can be purchased. A unique experience. Note: Parking cannot accommodate RVs over 20 feet.

This spot was the 2nd "Must See" place on my list. It was amazing and David was an exceptional host. This guy was full of knowledge and jokes. He even gave us a pop-quiz at the end. LOL After this visit, we went on to the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and I recommended the Pin Point Heritage to EVERYONE. Hopefully, the went over there. I want to go back again because it was peaceful sitting on the dock and looking at the marsh area. Thanks David

Cool experience! Thought it was worth the $10/person entry fee. Make sure to check hours as when we went it was just open Thursday through Saturday; also sounds like the last guided tour may end at two so go earlier as the guided tour portion was worth it. There was an interesting video that we enjoyed watching. Then a passionate tour guide took us around the property explaining things along the way; he was patient with our many questions. Then afterwards we took some time to explore on our own. Overall we were there for about an hour and a half perhaps, though you could spend more or less as desired.

Colonial Park Cemetery, established in 1750, has been the final resting place for Savannah's earliest settlers and prominent figures. The cemetery holds historical significance as it houses the interments of victims from the city's yellow fever epidemic and is rumored to have been altered by Union Army soldiers during the Civil War. Despite falling into disuse in 1850, it still remains a significant site with famous burials such as Declaration of Independence signer Button Gwinnett.
Nice little historic cemetery in the middle of town. Street parking is available nearby, but it's probably more of a place you go when you're walking around anyway, rather than a destination, unless you are on a guided tour. I appreciated the plaques that provide information on some of the graves.

Colonial Park Cemetery is one of the most fascinating places I visited in Savannah! During the day, it’s a peaceful and historic site that gives you a deep sense of the city’s past — the old tombstones and moss-covered trees create a quiet, reflective atmosphere. But at night, it transforms into something else entirely! I did a haunted walking tour that included the cemetery, and it was such a thrilling experience. The stories, the legends, and the eerie atmosphere after dark made it unforgettable. You can really feel the history (and maybe a few ghosts 👻) around every corner. Highly recommended if you enjoy history, mystery, and a little bit of spooky fun!
Thiago F — Google review
I was actually disappointed at the state of this cemetery. The grounds are well taken care of as far as the grass, but the graves are in major disrepair and you can't read a lot of them. And it seemed actually pretty barren as far as the headstones. I'm assuming some have been removed, moved, etc. I also didn't like how you could only exit out of two places even though there are obvious places fates used to be open in the past. Maybe this is a place better to visit at dusk or night to get the full effect but still be respectful.
Abigail L — Google review
We met our ghost tour guide at the entrance with the eagle. Sadly we didn't get a tour of the cemetery. I wish we had. We did get there a few minutes early and was able to walk through part of it. Very old headstones. Some faded from over a 150 years of time and the elements and who knows what else. 👻 Next time in Savannah we will get the tour.

A unique walk through history with its peaceful nature and lush foliage. This was truly one of a kind experience on a beautiful day in Savannah.

Beautiful cemetery; the walking path, trees and cemetery stones are perfect. It's peaceful and reflective as you pass through.

Epic cemetery with so much history. Make sure to check out the old stones along the back wall.

My son and I walked around and took our time here. It's a nice cemetery with loads of history. I pointed out Button Gwinnett who was one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence. We went during the week during the off season so it wasn't very busy. I also took my parents and other family members here recently when they came to visit. I told them to make sure to look for the tomb stones in the walls. There are different kinds of tours, ghost tours of this place is the most popular.

The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum is a captivating destination that celebrates the legacy of the founder of the Girl Scouts. Nestled in Savannah, Georgia, this beautifully preserved Regency-style home showcases an intriguing blend of architectural styles from the 1800s. Visitors can explore its rich history through guided tours featuring original furnishings and a remarkable art collection. The museum also hosts an interactive library exhibit titled 'Girls Writing the World,' which highlights contributions by and for girls.
As a former Girl Scout (nearly 30 years ago) I've wanted to visit JGL Birthplace for a while. I ordered a ticket online just in case, but I probably could have purchased it before the tour started. Just walking into the lobby transported me to my GS days and I felt gratitude for this woman that provided an opportunity for girls that she probably had no idea would expand so far and wide. Our group was kind of small, about 9 of us. Two of which were GS (Daisy and Brownie) in their little vests. Our tour guide was really great and the pacing of the tour was perfect. The information presented was not overwhelming and I learned so much about Juliette Gordon Low. Finding out the beyond founding Girl Scouts, she was a very accomplished artist and a loved nature. I absolutely recommend any current AND former Girl Scouts (no matter how old) to visit the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum.

The tour guide was really knowledgeable. That part is awesome!! Down side is the poor AC, and you really don’t see a ton of the house. It’s just the main floor and 4-5 rooms. No upstairs and they renovated what was the original kitchen in the basement into like a guest waiting room so kinda disappointed on that front.

Being a Girl Scout myself when I was young this tour was so much fun. Our guide was great!!! Really enjoyed ourselves.

What an amazing place! We came here on a GS trip from Utah and the guided tour was really incredible. Our tour guide was funny, thorough and informative. Our girls had a great time! My only tidbit of feedback would be that the game played upstairs be explained more/better. We were all so confused and it seemed like such a random game to play. No one knew what we were really doing. Thanks for a great time!

Nestled along the picturesque Savannah River, Old Fort Jackson stands as Georgia's oldest brick fortification and a remarkable piece of American history. This National Historic Landmark is one of only eight remaining Second System forts in the United States, originally constructed to safeguard the city during pivotal moments like the War of 1812 and later serving as a strategic base during the Civil War.
A really well curated fort with more interesting history to explore. This state-owned fort is definitely worth the visit. We self toured but saw some others getting guided tours. We did spend some time with a very friendly and super knowledgeable female employee that gave us a great presentation and answered a ton of questions. It's located on the Savannah River in a beautiful scenic location. I actually enjoyed this fort more than nearby Fort Pulaski.
Bryan W — Google review
Definitely worth visiting this old fort near the Savannah port. We most enjoyed the musket demonstration where the soldier explained how the guns, bullets, and bayonets were used in battles and skirmishes. His demonstration of how to quickly load and fire 3 rounds in about 1 minute was wonderful. We enjoyed the artifacts and displays along with walking around and exploring the fort. There’s a small fee to get in but well worth it. History buffs will love this place! Not a history buff? This fort is a great place to learn about why the US built forts in post-revolution history and the role they served through the late 1800s.

Must go and enjoy. Preferred when it's cooler months! The curator was absolutely amazing! The gift shop was overly fair priced... And if you're a history nut, it doesn't matter what the weather is.

What an amazing visit we had!! The location is beautiful, old fort Jackson sits on the Savannah river. You will meet the most friendly, informative staff. They will tell you so much information that time will pass quickly as you take it in, you may even want to go back to learn more soon! They have demonstrations of weapon firings and cannon firings. It is a real treat to witness, they provide ear and eye safety for all visitors. You may be lucky enough to see the riverboat cruising from here! If you've done that cruise it is so cool to see it from a new angle. If not, the riverboat is beautiful on its own and an added visual perk. For bird watchers we saw American Eagles and Terns during our visit. When you arrive, slow down and take in this wonderful site slowly. It is not a large fort, to me that is what made it so special. Thank you to everyone who works hard to keep these historic sites alive for generations to experience. To the 2 soldiers at the fort today you knocked it out of the park!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Experience at Old Fort Jackson! Huge thank you to Alex and Faith at the Tybee Store and Fort Jackson for making our visit absolutely unforgettable! Alex gave an incredible cannon demonstration energetic, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the history. The way he explained each step and brought the moment to life made it an experience we’ll never forget. Watching that cannon fire was epic! Faith at the Tybee Store was just as amazing, warm, helpful, and full of great information. She made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in and helped us find exactly what we wanted. Outstanding customer service from start to finish. If you’re visiting Old Fort Jackson or Tybee, make sure you meet Alex and Faith. They elevate the entire experience! Highly recommend!

The Grey is a renowned restaurant located in the former segregated Greyhound bus depot, now transformed into an Art Deco dining space. It gained national recognition after being featured on Chef's Table and receiving a prestigious James Beard Award for its chef. The menu offers a mix of seafood and seasonal dishes, such as smoked pork with hominy and purloo Carolina Gold rice with salted fish.
We sat at the bar and had an incredible meal at The Grey. The patty melt was delicious, the Sizzlin’ Smoky Pig was absolutely amazing, the chicken schnitzel was perfectly crisp, and the oysters were fresh and flavorful. Great atmosphere, attentive service, and top-notch food all around. Highly recommend!

We came here for an upscale anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The service was perfect and they were very thoughtful and wrote a happy anniversary note. The staff were helpful and answered many of our questions. They also had many vegetarian options to pick from. It’s a coursed $85 meal and I felt given the amount of food we got, it was very reasonable. The Savannah Red Rice was so good. It was definitely a great take on local food and was very flavorful and filling. I loved all the different vegetables in it - they were perfectly cooked and enhanced the sauce base. For the main, they had an okra and beans dish with bread. It also came with some salad and the salad was really fresh and had a very crispy dressing. The whole entree with its different parts went together so well. The beans were not too soft or hard but the perfect in-between. Insta: @TheShahLALand

After dining at a good number of Savannah's higher end restaurants I can enthusiastically say that The Grey was the best. And probably one of only two or three places that are worth the price. Our party of four were all impressed by the quality of The Grey's service and food. Big props to "Sooz" (Suzette) our most attentive and engaged server for her positive energy and apologizing for a delay in the serving of our main courses, before we knew there was an issue. (Comping us additional wine for the problem was high class and appreciated.) The dining room manager was also very attentive and engaged in making sure we had a first rate experience. We all ordered off the Prix Fixe menu, which I see has changed somewhat since we visited. Every dish was wonderful! We will definitely be back to The Grey.

Set in a building with a lot of history, and aligned with the changes in Savannah over time (e.g., former Jim Crow era bus station, former bakery). The food was the best culinary experience we’ve had during our stay in Savannah. It was one of the few places that lived up to the hype. The menu for brunch is small, so they’re not trying to do too much, just a few things really well. We had the duck pastrami, the omelette, the fried chicken with hoecakes, and the Bloody Mary. All great. They had live music playing, and the kitchen staff clearly too pride in their work.
Charleston E — Google review
After watching Chef's Table, we had to see if The Grey lived up to the hype. To say that it surpassed our expectations would be an understatement. The French Laundry has nothing on Chef Mashama Bailey. Chef and her partner kept the original Greyhound bus stop bones, but elevated the atmosphere. The food is incredibly fresh and passion infused. Every bite was heavenly and Chef's chillies bear palate cleanser gave us all the feels. If you're headed to Savannah, make that reservation early and be sure to ask for Ben as your server. His dedication to The Grey and outstanding service was the cherry on top of a perfect evening.
Kim P — Google review
There’s no question that The Grey has built a reputation in Savannah for its striking setting, a restored 1938 Greyhound bus terminal turned into a stylish dining space that blends Art Deco charm with Southern elegance. Unfortunately, on my recent visit, the beauty of the space far outshined the overall dining experience. I arrived early and took a seat at the bar, where the experience started off on the right note. The bartenders were friendly, the cocktails were well-balanced, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and inviting. My wife and I enjoyed our drinks and looked forward to what we hoped would be an exceptional meal. Once we were called to our table, however, the evening took a noticeable turn. We were seated at a cramped table wedged between others, close enough to hear every word of the neighboring conversations. It wasn’t a busy night, so the tight seating felt unnecessary. When we asked to be moved, the maître d’ (or possibly the manager) told us it would be a 45-minute wait, even though several open tables were visible. After a short back-and-forth, he “found” a table, one that, interestingly, remained empty around us for the entire hour and a half we were there. Then came the surprise: The Grey offers only a prix fixe menu. While that can work beautifully when executed with creativity and depth, the limited choices here fell flat. For the first course, I ordered the B&B Pickled Egg, which lacked any memorable flavor or texture. My wife’s Summer Crudité was equally uninspired. The second course offered a slight improvement, my wife’s Baba Ghanoush was flavorful and well-balanced but my Beef Carpaccio missed the mark. The edges were brown and looked partially cooked, with none of the delicate freshness that defines a great carpaccio. For the main course, we both opted for the Dayboat Catch, which happened to be grouper. It looked promising but delivered little in the way of taste. My wife took one bite and set her fork down, describing it as “completely flavorless.” I finished mine, but mostly out of obligation rather than enjoyment. The one true highlight of the evening was our server. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. Without us asking, she comped my wife’s dessert and later removed her entrée from the bill, gestures that showed professionalism and care. Her service was the saving grace of the meal. In the end, The Grey is worth visiting for its history and design, the space itself is stunning, a perfect tribute to Savannah’s past. But as for the food, it failed to live up to the restaurant’s reputation. What began as a promising evening with well-made cocktails turned into a forgettable dinner that leaned too heavily on ambiance and not enough on flavor. Final verdict: Go for the architecture and the bar experience, but temper your expectations when it comes to the food.
Ernesto E — Google review
An unforgettable dining experience at The Grey in Savannah. We did the 3-course prix fixe and every bite was outstanding—from the crisp, fresh crudité to the mouthwatering oyster trio and flavorful succotash. The lamb melted in our mouths, and the chicken Country Captain was rich and juicy. Cocktails like the Captain Sauce and Fisherman Ave were beautifully crafted. For dessert, the fig thrills took us on a nostalgic journey through the joy of growing up in Savannah—her elevated take on the classic frozen pop was both refreshing and refined. We even got to meet Executive Chef Mashama Bailey—warm, down-to-earth, and deeply passionate. Incredible food, service, and experience. 10/10 highly recommend!

What a great spot! We didn’t have a reservation, but we went early and grabbed a seat in the front room/bar. My chicken finger kiddo was starving and worried she wouldn’t like the food; it’s seemingly pretty upscale. Thankfully she loved the Smashed Potatoes and her Chicken Schnitzel. I had the Patty Melt and a dirty martini, both of which were delicious! My mother had a lamb dish that she loved and a cocktail with turmeric in it that was perfectly balanced. Our server was very sweet and patient with us as we came close to tweenage meltdown. Next time we visit we will get a reservation for the main dining room, and maybe leave the kid with a sitter.

The museum's mission is to preserve and interpret the American Federal-style house and its artifacts from the years 1820-27, aiming to educate, enrich, and inspire visitors.
I visited 11/15/24 and thought the tour was just excellent. The structure of the tour is very thoughtful and our guide did a really great job of both sharing information and engaging with us. This historic home is a must see. They have done a wonderful job of correlating the operation of the home with the history of slavery in an informative and respectful way. DELIGHTFUL!!! Visited 7/11/24 as part of our trolley ticket package. Beautifully built home that has withstood the ravages of time amazingly well. Tickets are purchased behind the home in a former pharmacy that’s now the visitor center and gift shop (ask to see the spot in the floor where the pharmacist always stood to fill prescriptions). If you’re early for your tour take time to read about Savannah in the visitors center and the amazing women who spearheaded the restoration effort of historical homes that had been headed for destruction, of which the Davenport was the first. The tour was about 90 minutes and really interesting. Park in the neighborhood street side or in a public lot/garage. Within walking distance to many other squares and homes to tour. Sunny miss this gem when visiting Savannah!

We visited on 8/6/26 and it was our first house tour of the day. Susan, our docent, was excellent - knowledgeable, and friendly and did not rush us at all. This was my 3rd time in the House (I'm a local), but the first since the basement slave quarters were added to the tour, which is a notable addition. if you're trying to decide which House Tour to take, I highly recommend you start with the Davenport House Museum which has a special place in Savannah's restoration history and unique architecture.

I recommend going to the visitor center to see the exhibitions. The self guided tour was rather short and many items are not original. And there was construction on the exterior. The staff were nice.

I've been in the Davenport house several times over the years and recently stopped in again. The home has undergone some recent updates to the basement; showing the kitchen, dining, and cleaning rooms. I do wish there were some interior design updates to the main house, as it's quite empty furniture wise, compared to other house museums. It would be nice to hear more about the Davenport family while touring instead of so much focus on the builder and yellow fever. But overall, it's a very nice depiction of the era and what the house would have looked like in the 1800s.

Lovely art museum! For $30 you get access to three locations, two right next to one another. They currently have a great mix of photography (contemporary and some presentations of older American works), sculpture, painting / printing, and a cool exhibit of performance costumes from famous movies. Well worth a visit.

I was passing by the area, saw that there was a Glenn Close costume exhibition on and made a detour off the highwsy especially. It was $30 to enter museum! Having only the option of a 3 museum 7 day pass is crazy when I'm sure most visitors to Savannah are not staying 7 days (most likely 2-3 nights). Guess I'll catch the exhibition in a more affordable location.

They also do movies in their theatre during the days. Fern Gully was playing when we were there. If you visit be ready to play and have fun. They also have food but it's not very kid friendly unless your kids like pb&j or grilled cheese. It's also expensive but you get entry to 3 places.

The Jepson Center & Telfair Children's Art Museum was the perfect outing for my 4 year old grandson. The rooms were bright and cheerful. There were so many hands-on experiences. From the large geometric shapes and the interactive wall to the spinning tops and reading room, he was engaged for the entire visit. If you have young children this is an excellent place to take them.

We skipped the children's museum but the other galleries were awesome. I'm not sure if any are permanent, but the visiting armor exhibit was top notch and the two local sculptors that were highlighted were very good too. Tickets include the Owen's house (timed) and Telfair academy.

Jepson Center & Telfair Children's Art Museum is a beautiful modern building in the heart of the historic district of downtown Savannah. It houses a vast collection of paintings, photographs, and installations that we enjoyed exploring during our visit to the city. We highly recommend this museum to art and history enthusiasts who appreciate beautiful architecture. It's worth checking out while you are in Savannah.

The Andrew Low House, a 19th-century home located in Savannah's Lafayette Square, offers tours to visitors. Built in 1848-49 for wealthy cotton merchant Andrew Low, the house showcases a blend of Grecian and Italian Villa architectural styles. Its stunning ironwork balcony overlooks a beautiful brick-walled rear garden and well-preserved front garden with hourglass-shaped flowerbeds. The interior boasts spacious rooms adorned with exquisite plaster cornices and carved woodwork.
We visited the Low House on our ghost tour last night. The hosts were absolutely fantastic! The house itself was beautiful.

The ticket lady very sweet , Frank our tour guide Very knowledgeable and friendly. Spent a hour with us & we learned a lot ! One important** Note , NO restroom available so use facilities at Forsythe Park cafe or Port a Potties . Only 5 blocks to Andrew Low House. Also there are stairs to climb !. Parking lot on Abercorn by Park & House is N on Abercorn. If walking please take a few minutes to walk Jones street blocks !! Gorgeous neighborhood

We got to tour this home after hours with the ghost and graveyard tour. Highly recommend both! Allie gave us a tour of the house! She was amazing at telling stories and definitely helped with the creep factor because she really seemed nervous herself of some areas! Plus she was dressed so cute and in character! The place was beyond beautiful and all of the historic details and furniture made you really feel like you were in that era of time.

The Collins Quarter is a versatile establishment that combines the elements of a bar, cafe, and restaurant. It offers an array of options including espresso drinks, beer, wine, and Australian-inspired meals. The brunch menu goes beyond the usual offerings with items like brioche French toast and CQ Bubble n Squeak. The coffee selection is diverse with choices such as Iced Mint Julep and Thai Iced Coffee in addition to standard espresso drinks.
The Collins Quarter is seriously the best spot! The atmosphere is amazing and the vibe is just on point. The food is exceptional and surprisingly affordable for how good it is. The staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome every time. I also love the little details, like how they decorate the tables with real flowers – it makes the whole place feel extra special. Definitely one of my favorite places to go! I went here twice for my trip to Savannah as it is so good compared to other places.

The competition is fierce in Savannah for restaurants! But, I would put this restaurant up against any other. Rose, our server was a model for all. The variety of menu options set the expectation levels very high. And, they come through and knock it out of the park! I’m one that loves to try new flavours. This restaurant just piles them on. And in a way that is very balanced. Loved every bite!

Our waitress was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the steak tartare and it arrived maybe five minutes afterwards. The steak was amazing with great flavor and texture. The entrees arrived about 25 minutes after we ordered. I got the swordfish and my husband got the roasted chicken. These are phenomenal. The proteins were tender and juicy. The seasoning on the chicken was perfect and it was a lot of food. The pistachios were a lot of fun on the swordfish. There was music playing that wasn’t too loud and the lighting was low. My only two complaints is my knife wasn’t very sharp and the tables were a bit too close together but neither bothered me too much. Overall a great dinner!

Wow, what an experience. The food was amazing. Be prepared: they are busy but once you get seated. They are attentive and your service is there priority, quick, accurate and attentive. I suggest if it is just you or a couple sit at the bar. I got to see them make the most amazing drinks from spicy cocktails, exotic teas, and beautiful coffee's. The employees are lovely and a delight. Sheer brilliance 🌞...soooo worth it💕🎸🎶🐝🌻

The BEST experience I’ve had in a restaurant in a very long time! We mentioned to our server that we have some food allergies and had some questions if they could accommodate us. She confidently said the chef would be right over and Max Barbee, the chef, came over immediately. He discussed allergies, likes/dislikes, explained his mostly Mediterranean style of cooking, and how dishes on the menu could be modified to meet both our wants. I had the gnocchi verde and my sister had Max’s creation. He also sat and talked with us for a bit about his history, taught us about the foods that were on our plates, and how he strives to make sure everyone leaves happy. And we did indeed. We will definitely go back when we are passing through again. Knowing they have such an exceptional Chef that makes sure he and his kitchen only put out quality food is refreshing; plus it could’ve saved us the hour of trying to decide and calling places that we could eat. The service also Great! Never an empty glass and very prompt.

Nick was awesome. We had a large group for a bachelorette group. He was fun, made jokes, and provided excellent service. He split up checks right off the bat so we didn’t have to worry about it. He made suggestions for other places to go to in Savannah. The espresso martini was so good. Very strong but a good balance between creamy and coffee flavored. Smothered burrito was delicious with light spice. Fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly.

The food is very good. Fast service. Their cocktails are not what they are not the greatest but the staples are perfect. If you don’t get the pistachio French toast you did not get the full experience. They are the best! Servers are very nice too!

The American Prohibition Museum in Savannah, GA is a captivating attraction that delves into the era of alcohol prohibition in the United States from 1920 to 1933. Situated near River Street, this unique museum offers an immersive experience through interactive exhibits and a collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Visitors can explore the impact of prohibition on American society while encountering live actors, lifelike wax figures, and vintage cars throughout the museum.
I thought I knew about Prohibition, and this museum proved there was more to the story. It is very well done, in a time period that I find haunting that as a country, we could approve a dramatic change to our constitution. It took 14 years to get back our freedom. It also was the basis to start income taxes to replace all the revenue government made off alcohol. There is so much to learn here. At the end, push the button in the door to enter the Speak Easy, where you will find some great drink selections. We all could learn a lesson here not to repeat in our country. When extreme views take charge, it takes a long time to correct!

I purchased my ticket to the museum as part of the city of Savannah’s HOHO trolley (at a reduced cost). The museum is right in the middle of downtown and is conveniently located at one of the trolley stops. There are many cute photo opps throughout the museum and it’s quite fun to go through. Would be a cool break from a hot, summer day walking around the city. You could probably spend 30-45 min in the museum (reading exhibits and viewing memorabilia), followed by 15 min having at drink at the speakeasy before exiting (extra cost for drinks). A cool little escape, just not something I’d go to Savannah specifically to do.

I had an amazing experience on this tour, and it was well worth the money. Victoria, our tour guide, was absolutely exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly interactive. She made every part of the tour come to life and kept things interesting from start to finish. The way she explained the history, especially how the end of Prohibition played a surprising role in supporting federal income tax, was both fascinating and easy to follow. I walked away having learned so much more than I expected. If you’re considering this tour, I highly recommend it. The combination of great storytelling, interactive elements, and Victoria’s outstanding guidance makes it a fantastic experience.

An amazing museum. Really dedicated to the history, lots of attention to detail. Loved the original items and the recreations. I deeply wish they had a better gift shop with things from the museum (replica pins, stickers with slogans, cool replica covert flasks, books on the topic etc) and not just coffee cups, decanters, and basic and not museum-oriented items.

Exploring this location was truly fascinating, offering a deep dive into a significant period. The exhibits provided an excellent understanding of the events surrounding the era. It also highlighted the various factors that contributed to its rise and eventual conclusion. Furthermore, the presentation effectively examined both the positive and negative consequences that followed. Overall, it was a very insightful and educational experience.

I really enjoyed seeing proabition brought to life in this fun wax museum. The history of this period of time really set the stage for gangsters and illegal activity. I find it interesting how society figured out that the spirit industry really affected the economy. There is big money to be maid by the production and assumption of alcohol.

The Telfair Museums is a historic art gallery in downtown Savannah, GA. It houses a variety of American and European paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative arts from its permanent collection. Highlights include seeing the old mansion where the Governors once lived and viewing the impressive permanent collections.
Good for kids, hands on experience with the open art studio. Tickets are valid for a week (if you stay at Savannah longer, and the old museum near by). The cafe is ok, the roasted mushroom dish is very very salty with a lot of soy sauce. Ice cream (chocolate and pecan topping) is good, the chocolate flavor is very strong!

As a first-time visitor to Savannah, discovering the Telfair Museums with their 7-day, three-museum pass was a fantastic introduction to the city's culture and history. The ability to visit the Jepson Center (modern/children's), the Telfair Academy (classic art), and the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters (history/architecture) at our own pace over a week was invaluable. Each site offered a completely different but equally enriching experience, catering to varied interests from contemporary art to historical insights. It’s a brilliant way to explore Savannah’s diverse heritage.

The new building has sweeping modern architecture, but the points of interest are in the nearby Academy building. See the bird girl statue everyone talks about and impressively large and beautifully made paintings there.
Kaeti M — Google review
A Bit Pricey, but Worth Supporting Local Art The museum offers a decent experience, though I found the admission fee to be on the high side. The exhibits are well-presented, but the overall collection feels somewhat limited for the cost. However, the focus on local artists and community support makes it a meaningful place to visit if you're looking to engage with Savannah’s cultural scene.
Soroush A — Google review
Sophisticated and enjoyable museum experience. The Newcomb College pottery exhibit and the William Golding exhibit are worthwhile to see and enjoy. Calm and peaceful experience to enjoy in Savannah, highly recommended.

A mix of old and new under one umbrella — the Jepson Center’s sleek galleries contrast with the historic Telfair Academy. I enjoyed the Owens-Thomas House tour the most; it’s layered with history and context. Some exhibits felt small, but overall it’s enriching and memorable.
Jim K — Google review
Overpriced, Poor Experience, and Rude Staff My husband and I paid $30 each (a total of $60) for tickets, and it was a complete disappointment. At the entrance of the first museum (Jepson Center), we were told very clearly that the ticket was valid for all three museums — which is why we decided to buy it, planning to visit them all. Unfortunately, we did not get what we were promised. The staff at the Jepson Center were polite, but they failed to explain that the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters would be closing early and remain closed for several days. That meant our $60 tickets were never truly valid, and we were charged full price without disclosure. We should have received a discount upfront. When we arrived at the Owens-Thomas House at 4 p.m., we were met at the door with rude and dismissive treatment. The staff told us the museum was already closed, that we could not enter, and that they were shutting everything down. They made it clear they were leaving, even though the posted schedule says closing is at 5 p.m. and online it states the last tour is at 4. We were on time for that last tour, but they still refused to let us in. When we asked if there was any solution or adjustment since one museum was closed for days, they told us to “go back to the first museum” for a refund. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. On top of that, the galleries we did see (Jepson Center and Telfair Academy) were extremely poor in content and quality, with almost nothing to look at and very little meaning or inspiration in the exhibits. To put this in perspective: the Art Institute of Chicago costs only $14 and is massive, with world-class collections, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York costs $30 and is absolutely immense. Compared to those, charging $30 here is absolutely unjustified.

It's the heart of the city, boasting top attractions, hotels, restaurants, and well-preserved streets adorned with live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Loved the Savannah Historic District! It's a beautiful and charming area that truly feels like stepping back in time. The architecture is stunning, with cobblestone streets, historic homes, and moss-draped oak trees creating a picturesque atmosphere around every corner. Forsyth Park is absolutely gorgeous! Simply stated, it’s one of the most beautiful cities you can visit. This time of year the weather is perfect for touring the town. Take the Trolley tour. There are 16 stops and the drivers are very knowledgeable about all the history and the buildings/homes. The selection of restaurants is incredible, ranging from burgers to fresh seafood. It’s also very walkable, within reason. Parking can be very difficult to find in the Garden District. Take the trolley, it’s goes to many places around the city.

Savannah is a beautiful city to explore!! Lots of history. We unfortunately only had a day, and it definitely wasn't enough time. We did the hop on hop off trolley tours. It was nice to have transportation around the area for the day while also having the freedom to just get off and explore. Which I highly recommend you do! The cemetery was very neat to see. Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room is a long-standing family-owned Southern diner in Savannah, serving up generous portions of traditional Southern cuisine at communal tables since 1943. This popular spot has attracted attention from notable figures like President Obama and continues to draw crowds with its family-style meals featuring fried chicken, butter beans, red rice, collard greens, mac and cheese, and candied yams.
We had the chance to visit Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room while in Savannah, and let me tell you, it was 100% worth the wait! The family-style setup was such a unique and special experience. I think there were 22 or 23 bowls of food on the table. Everything from fried chicken to collard greens, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, and more. Every bite tasted like it came straight from someone’s home kitchen. Even though the day was very hot, the staff was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. They made sure everyone was taken care of, offering water, shade, and kind words to help us through the wait. Their warmth and care made it all the more enjoyable. If you’re in Savannah and want a real taste of Southern cooking and hospitality, don’t miss Mrs. Wilkes. It’s more than a meal, it’s a memorable experience. If there was ever a place that deserves 5 stars, this is it. Literally a perfect dining experience for my wife and I. Believe the hype. Get in line an hour before it opens if you want to be sat in the first seating. Make friends with the people around you in line, as that is who you will likely be sitting with for your meal. Cash only, but they have an ATM. Every employee we met was kind and welcoming like you would expect in the south. Our lunch had 3 meat choices, fried chicken, pulled pork and beef stew. Every one of them was amazing. 24 side dishes also and the coleslaw was best I have ever tasted. An experience I will never forget.

This was a super fun and delicious dining experience that you must try at least once when coming to Savanna, Georgia! Our family gathered here for a meal none of us will soon forget! when the mash potatoes hit my mouth, followed by fried chicken and okra, sweet potato soufflé and creamed corn I was transported to my own mother’s kitchen and all the flavors that reminded me of home! What a treat to share with family! Plan on waiting in line and bring your best attitude and biggest appetite for a memorable time!

Delicious classic southern cooking served family style. Every dish was amazing, so come hungry! The fried chicken and greens were some of the best I've ever had. Fair warning, it's first come first serve and they're open until they run out of food. You will wait in line outside, but once you're seated you eat immediately. Cash Only!

Have to go at least once. A Savanah institution. Went on a Monday. Line already formed at 11:15. One group was inside for first seating. Waited an hour. Tables of ten... you and whoever. Dishes passed family-style. Most everything you'd want cooked southern style. Collard greens, creamed corn, black eye peas, red rice, mashed potatoes, biscuits, cornbread, chicken, pulled pork bbq. Dishes are refilled. Only option is sweet iced tea (but you can request unsweetened). Dessert was banana pudding or peach conner cobbler. All very good. Not especially exceptional, but the food is definitely good. This is the south. Don't expect anything al dente. We COOK food. When you are finished, leave when you want (not dismissed as a table), take your plates, utensils and glass to the kitchen door. Someone in the family tells the story of the restaurant while you wait in line outside. Mrs. Wilkes is no longer living (1906-2001). Her family is carrying on the tradition. Small gift shop inside. Tees, aprons, cook books (signed by family member, stamped with Mrs. Wilkes' signature $20.) All-in-all a fun experience. You certainly don't leave hungry.

What a fun atmosphere to enjoy a great family style meal. We got in line around 10AM and waited an hour for opening. Lots of fun standing in line engaging with strangers sharing stories of where they are from and how they came about Mrs Wilkes Dining Room. We entered to a welcoming staff and after the blessing we started to dig in. The table is filled with now less than 20 side dishes. The chicken was some of the best we have ever had. All the food was delicious. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and prompt. I believe Mrs Wilkes Dining Room is a 'must do' when visiting Savannah. Restaurant is cash only but there is an ATM inside. We will be back! A++

The Georgia State Railroad Museum is a must-visit for train enthusiasts and families with kids who love locomotives. It's the largest antebellum railroad repair facility still in existence, offering beautifully restored antique locomotives, model trains, and a working roundhouse and repair shop. Visitors can tour luxurious presidential cars, ride vintage steam and diesel locomotives, and even operate a handcar.
I have always enjoyed coming here and love hearing about the history of this particular Railroad Station and seeing the restoration that continues to take place. This time, I was able to share it with my husband and not 30 students (former educator who loved bringing her students to the Georgia State Railroad Museum). We ended up on a semi private tour of the facility and were able to walk the steps of those who had gone before us and see what remains (and is being restored). Our guide was amazing and gave us lots to talk about. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were a little surprised at how small and dilapidated this museum is being that it’s the Georgia State Museum. With that said, it’s still a place to see a few locomotives, rail cars and passenger cars. There is a blacksmith shop and the machine shop to view. We walked the entire ground, seeing everything too to bottom and were done in about 30 minutes… We try to see all state train museums and we’ve been to more than 40 states, some are huge!! This is just ok. Probably pretty fun for younger kids.

We visited on a school field trip. The kids had a great time. This visit was very informative and interactive. Staff were very pleasant and great with the kids. I only wish the kids had the opportunity to explore the inside of the trains.

The preservation work they are doing here is great. There are a couple dozen locomotives and various rail cars in their collection. That is the majority of what you will see here- the train cars. There are a few exhibits with signage explaining things, but that element is very limited. There is also a box car you can sit in to view three short videos. Some of the train cars you can walk inside. There are train rides on weekends, unfortunately we were there on a weekday so couldn’t do that. There was a volunteer tour guide that was a little odd, we didn’t do the free guided tour, but we could hear him literally yelling what he was saying multiple times at the guests he was showing around. There was no loud noises in the area so no need to do this, it was really strange. It would be hard to spend more than about 2 hours here seeing everything. 90 minutes is probably about all it would take to see it all.

I enjoyed learning about the history of the railroad system, and appreciated how well everything has been preserved over the years. I came at a time when there was no guided tours available, so I did not get the full story out of all of the exhibits. Also, most of this museum is outdoors which was an issue during my visit when it was extremely hot.

The guided tour thing makes sense, but they don't have anything posted on the website about when the guided tours begin or even that they existed. The only guided tour the website mentions is the Train Ride. You need to do the Guided tour to: - See the inside of the Executive Rail Cars - To do the Handcar - To see the Steam Engine demonstration Most of the buildings are pretty empty sans a few old machines which are cool. They had a few neat locomotives. You can go in the cab of some of them. The architecture was cool to walk through!

Took our 2 boys to this. We got the tickets to ride the real life train.. short ride but a great experience for the young kids (3.5 &1.5). They have a wonderful giftshop for activities or toys. The children's museum is there as well and had a great activity going on. Good to plan on 2- 3 hrs worth of activity. My son was able to be on his balance bike the whole time other than the train ride so that kept him engaged. We will be back

History museum
The Savannah History Museum is housed in a 19th-century railway shed and showcases the city's local history, including military, industry, art, and culture. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring cultural artifacts such as clothing, military items, and agricultural history. The museum provides insights into Savannah's experience during the Civil War and its genealogical makeup. Group tours are available with staff dressed in historical outfits.
I took my son in late January and we really enjoyed ourselves. The tour guide, Patrick, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We really appreciated the time he took to discuss the diorama for the Revolutionary War battle that took place on the site of the present day museum. I would recommend the museum to anyone looking for a rainy day activity or if you want to learn more about the rich history of Savannah.

There were so many informative displays and even a film being shown in a theater. We learned so much in one visit. The staff were wonderful and took time to fully answer any questions we had. I didn't know the park bench from the Forest Gump movie was here.

My husband loves history and so do I so when we visited Savannah we definitely wanted to make sure we visited this museum. There was a man dress as a soldier who was extremely informative of the war and everything that happened with the history of Savannah as well as a theater set up with a movie to watch about the history as well. The museum is handicap accessible, which is really nice.

Novel museum ! They have the actual bench from the Forest Gump movie. Also, they have a great section on Julia Gordon Lowe. You can cover the museum in about 45 minutes to an hour. Great local history information.

Museum is small and displays many historic feats by the army. If you are into history you would enjoy reading them.

Nice museum in an old transportation center. Well laid out exhibits. Like a walk through the centuries, with explanations, all self guided. Lovely extra exhibit room on Girl Scouts history. Also a Jazz exhibit. Not sure if that was permanent. All non profit, so we did not mind paying to get in.
Sunny S — Google review
This museum provides a good overview of the history of Savannah, from pre-Columbian times through the Jazz era. It helps you get your bearings and appreciate local attractions. Interactive exhibits for the kids. Nice gift shop as well. Parking at the visitor center. Location of the actual Forest Gump park bench.
LR P — Google review
Lots of history located inside including a jazz history section and a historical movie playing. The entrance was a bit confusing as it’s just the back of the visitors center and leads into the visitors center where there are three gift shops, one in the history museum, one in the visitors center, and one in between.

Chippewa Square, located in Savannah, Georgia, is a historic and picturesque destination that holds significant architectural and historical value. Established in 1815 to honor the Battle of Chippewa from the War of 1812, this square features stunning buildings like the Savannah Theatre and First Baptist Church. Visitors can appreciate its lush green spaces while exploring the statue dedicated to James Oglethorpe at its center.
Chippewa Square is a charming spot in Savannah, easily recognizable for its connection to Forrest Gump. While the iconic bench from the movie isn't here (it's housed in the Savannah History Museum), the square itself is lovely and worth a visit. It's a perfect place to sit, relax under the oaks, and soak in the Savannah atmosphere, imagining Forrest waiting for his bus. A cute piece of cinematic history in a beautiful setting.

this truly was an unexpected find. we had a afternoon to hold us till dinner time so the wife got tickets for this play at this old theater which really was unique. add the park just across the street which was incredibly beautiful even on a 90° day.

Great place for a walk. Beautiful gardens and flowers. Unfortunately the Forrest Gump bench is no longer there. Locals stated it has been moved to a museum.
Nicolas R — Google review
Nice little park, you can walk all the way around it. It barely resembles "Forrest Gump" anymore but still iconic. Vendors tak up alot of the picture space on the weekends so try coming during the week. Enjoy the surrounding shops as well.

Chippewa Square – Savannah, Georgia A peaceful and historic spot in the heart of Savannah. The oak trees draped with Spanish moss create a calm, shaded retreat from the busy streets. The statue of General James Oglethorpe stands proudly in the center, a reminder of the city’s beginnings. The nearby Savannah Theatre adds a touch of vintage charm, and it’s easy to see why this area is so often photographed. This is also the square made famous by the Forrest Gump bus bench scene, though the bench itself now rests in a museum. We enjoyed a slow walk under the trees and stopped to take in the quiet beauty of the place. It’s a perfect spot to pause, relax, and appreciate what makes Savannah special.
Rudy G — Google review
Beautiful trees, plenty of seats to relax and enjoy the view. The major attraction here is that Forrest Gump bus stop scene was filmed here. The bench was a prop and no longer in place but at the Savannah History Museum.
Guy J — Google review
Each of the squares in Savannah are unique. This one is no different, and happens to be the back drop from the famous scene in Forest Gump. There did not appear to be any visible signs of the actual bench in the scene but can visualize it along the street, looking at the backside of the statue in the middle of the park.

Very neat and historic square. Where Forrest Gump sat to tell his story. Unfortunately, his bench is gone. However, I believe it was relocated to an indoor location and can be viewed there.

Savannah's Waterfront, located along the Savannah River, has a rich history dating back 200 years when it was lined with warehouses during the peak of the cotton trade. After being abandoned for over a century due to a yellow-fever epidemic, the area was revitalized in the 1970s. Today, it offers stunning views and is a hub of entertainment, music, dining, and excitement while preserving its historic charm.
It's beautiful out there!! The atmosphere was great and it was crowded but you can walk and take photos anywhere!

If you are planning to visit Savannah, this is the place to go! It's really nice place to walk around. The old buildings are unique and stunning and the scenery is so beautiful. Whether you go with friends, lovers, or family, I'm sure you'll love this place! Oh, and it's definitely a pet-friendly area. Take dog for a walk besides river, and it's easy to find a restaurant with a patio where you can dine with your dog.

This is one of our favorite places to go. Great food, shopping, art. Nightlife is great also! Always a lot of walking, so wear comfy shoes. Sightseeing is absolutely beautiful, you can go many times and still not see everything there is to offer plus Tybee is a short drive from River Street!

First place we went to after checking in to our hotel. It’s a long waterfront and you can spend couple of hours there easily. The walk at the waterfront is calming. You can see the blend of history and modern architecture. The globe, the bridge, the historical steps. Dozens of shops there. Candies to antiques to bargain clothes. It has all. Add to it multiple food joints, rooftop bars. It is wholesome package. You will not get bored.

Very disappointed to see all the old shops that sold soaps, candles, spices from India, flavored olive oils, items from other countries. Everything is cheap tourist junk from China. They do have nice restaurants and the architecture is beautiful. So sad.

Congregation Mickve Israel, established in 1733, is a stunning example of neo-Gothic architecture and is recognized as one of the 'Most Beautiful Synagogues in the World.' This historic site offers guided tours that showcase its rich heritage and the Lawrence & Nancy Gutstein Museum, which houses remarkable artifacts dating back to its founding. Visitors can view North America's two oldest Torah scrolls and explore letters from notable figures like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
A beautiful Gothic synagogue. Originally the 3rd congregations in America created in 1734, after Newport and New York. The first immigrants where jews originated from Portugal through England. This edifice was built in 1870 and became officially a reform synagogue in 1904.

Congregation Mickve Israel is one of several religious communities in Savannah that offers a guided tour of its facility. The tour lasts about an hour and is informative about the history of the congregation and its building. The guide also shared a narrative about Jewish immigration to Georgia and the other colonies. The tour includes a visit to the congregation's museum. Among the featured items is a 15th century Torah, the oldest one in America. You may reserve a place for the tour on the congregation's website. We did not do this, but had no problem joining the tour. There is a charge for the tour.

Gorgeous synagogue!! It's a work of meaningful art everywhere you glance! Definitely worth the time and money for a tour!! They also have a small museum on the second level with many things to see, not to mention, two very old Torah scrolls on deerskin. Their treasured possessions!

This is such a beautiful synagogue. If I'm not mistaken, it is the third oldest congregation in America. I took an 11am tour that is also scheduled a few more times during the day, and I'm glad I did. I learned a lot about its history and saw a small museum on the 2nd floor that has 2 Torah Scrolls dating back to the 15th century. I highly recommend taking the tour.

Telfair Academy is a historic mansion turned museum that dates back to 1819 and is part of the oldest public art museum in the South. It houses an extensive collection of 19th- and 20th-century American and European art, including paintings, architecture, sculpture, and printmaking. The museum also features period furniture from the Telfair family and renowned works such as the Venus de Milo.
Thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful space with sculptures, paintings, and other pieces. The rooms are open and airy, not overstuffed with too many pieces to look at. Also a lovely size, it’d be hard to lose yourself in this space compared to other larger museums. A perfect mid-day getaway!

Fine art and sculpture throughout the Tel fair Academy. Beautiful paintings from a wide variety of genres. This site includes the famous "bird girl" statue, kept safe and protected for proper viewing. Enjoy your time here, highly recommended.

Another great art museum — has some pretty amazing famous older pieces that really pair well with the more modern work at the other center. A good range from classical to 20th century, and some contemporary work in other mediums. They also do a good job of contextualizing the role of slavery and race in the artwork and construction of Savannah, I think.

Logical visit when you buy tickets for the Owens-Thomas house when visiting Savannah. Nice, calm, quiet. Not spectacular. Definitely needs a bit more background stories that it currently does not have, such as the story of the house. But, ChatGPT is your friend and can build you a tour through the house on-demand
Wolfgang G — Google review
The art was impressive, and you could really tell how each piece tells a story. The museum offers a narrated tour by Mike or another assigned guide, and they made the experience so much better. He answered all our questions, super impressive and knowledgeable. The art is very well preserved, with a mix of antique and modern paintings. I definitely recommend asking for the narrators; they make a huge difference and help you learn more in a fun, engaging way.
Francisco G — Google review
Interesting museum, but no major arts paintings or sculptures. Note a portrait of Khalil Gibran and also two paintings from him
Bernard D — Google review
Worth it just to see Bird Girl, which, let's face it, is their prized piece of art. The rest is an interesting/eclectic mix of European period art, local folk art and of course, a bit of local history thrown in. The building is a house donated by a wealthy widow of a local family, which is kind of cool to learn about and see. Don't miss the gift shop if you love Bird Girl as much as I do!

The park boasts a picturesque lowcountry landscape of forests and salt marshes teeming with birdlife. Visitors can explore the boardwalk for an up-close view of the marsh or venture along nature trails that lead to historic sites such as Prohibition-era liquor stills and remnants of Civil War fortifications.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly with the booking process and the campsites are tucked into the woods and are very cozy. The hiking trails are beautiful, especially early in the morning and we would happily stay again. Stayed in a class B 21 foot camper van.

The premium sites were the most level. They were considered premium because they had 50 amp service and sewer hookups. Our first night we were scheduled to be in site 77 which was so unlevel we absolutely could not set up with our 30 foot travel trailer. We moved to site one and stayed five more nights. They have nice laundry rooms and showers throughout the park. The Ranger station/store/education center is very new and nice.

Lots of amenities at this state park. Very accessible. Electricity and water at every site. Beautiful, shady, spacious sites. Plenty of showers with abundant, warm water. Less than 30 minutes from Historic Savannah. Groceries and restaurants close at hand. There's even a coffee truck, Overflow Coffee, in the parking lot of the church right outside the park entrance, opening at 7 am.
Merry S — Google review
The park is beautiful as in shaddy & there are deers to see every day. We have a class A 38 ft. not big rig friendly, the roads are not wide enough & they are two way roads that should be one way, the roads are erupting because of tree roots, they should have been fixed years ago. The dump station is only on one side of the road. When we were there for a week there was this loud noise like a commercial leaf blower in the morning not sure if it was in the park.
T S — Google review
Our Scout Troop stayed in the pioneer (primitive) campsite, which was perfect for our group. The rangers and park staff were very helpful with our needs, and very happy to engage in conversation. They were all knowledgeable about the park and surrounding areas, and taught us about the natural features (and some invasive species) in the Low Country.
M. B — Google review
Quiet camp ground, easy to get to, nice sites, clean and ample facilities, hiking trails, downtown Savannah only a short drive. Only complaints would be; the loop road is in bad state due to tree roots, is quite narrow, and overhung in places by some quite sturdy trees. A tall motorhome or 5th wheel would need to be extremely careful - if you are over 12ft then be cautious.

The Pirates' House is a long-standing pirate-themed restaurant housed in a historic inn that was once an experimental garden. Saved from demolition in the 1940s, it now serves hearty Southern fare such as Low Country Spring Rolls, Shrimp and Grits, and Honey Pecan Fried Chicken. The restaurant's location near River Street makes it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Such an amazing experience at The Pirate’s House in Savannah! The history alone makes it worth a visit. it’s the oldest restaurant in Savannah, dating back to the 1700s, and you can truly feel that charm and rich history throughout the space. The staff is so knowledgeable and eager to share stories about the building’s past, which makes dining here feel like stepping back in time. Tom was our waiter and did a fantastic job. Even with a packed house, he was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. The food was excellent, and came out quickly. the shrimp and grits were hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and my husband’s fried chicken was amazing (it’s literally half a chicken plus sides!). Not pictured are the Low Country spring rolls because they disappeared before we could even take a photo, they were that good. If you’re visiting Savannah, The Pirate’s House is an absolute must. Make sure to take the full tour and visit the gift shop upstairs.
Abigail S — Google review
The Pirates House is definitely more of a tourist spot than a foodie destination. The restaurant itself is neat and has a cool history. The biscuits and the she crab soup were the highlights of the meal. Unfortunately, everything else fell kind of flat. I ordered the crab melt which was loaded with red peppers even though the menu didn’t mention it, and it overpowered the dish. I had house made chips as my side and they were so stale that they were inedible. My husband had the chicken salad croissant sandwich and it didn’t taste seasoned at all. If you’re looking for a unique Savannah experience, you may like this place, but don’t expect a standout meal.

The Pirates’ House is a must-visit stop in Savannah for anyone who enjoys great Southern food with a side of history! Located just a block from River Street, this restaurant dates back to 1753 and was once an inn for sailors and, according to local legend, a gathering place for pirates. You can still feel that old-world charm in every creaky floorboard and historic room. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were excellent — plenty of flavor, the perfect portion size, and beautifully balanced with just the right amount of spice. There was also a great looking buffet with lots of options to choose from. The staff was friendly and full of fun stories about the building’s past (ask about the tunnels!). Whether you’re a foodie, a history lover, or just in search of that classic Savannah experience, The Pirates’ House delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our group of five had an exceptional experience at The Pirates’ House in Savannah. It’s one of those rare places where history, atmosphere, and fantastic food all come together to create something truly memorable. The historic charm of the building makes it a unique stop on its own, but what really sets this place apart is the warm, friendly staff and the consistently incredible dishes that keep you wanting to return. We started with the fried green tomatoes, calamari, and corn fritters, and each appetizer was a standout—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, we tried a range of options: the gumbo, the fish special, the blackened snapper, and the fried chicken. Every dish was cooked beautifully, full of rich Southern flavors and generous portions. Whether you’re drawn in by the pirate lore or simply looking for a great meal in Savannah, The Pirates’ House delivers on all fronts. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The Old Sorrel-Weed House Museum & Tours is a stunning Greek Revival mansion and museum located in Savannah, Georgia. It was built in the 1800s by renowned architect Charles B. Cluskey for Francis Sorrel, a prominent commission merchant from the West Indies. This historic landmark showcases exquisite Greek Revival and Regency Style architecture and has been designated as a state landmark since 1953. Over the years, it has welcomed notable visitors like General Robert E.
Amanda was a really cool guide. She knew alot of stuff, including which areas are most haunted. I did catch a thermal heat signature in the men’s parlor, but missed out on recording it. There were some huge temperature spikes.

Wanted to do the ghost tours for a long time. Wife and I came for a weekend trip she planned and decided to do a tour. We booked the Sorrel-Weed tour because we wanted to see the house as much as hearing the ghost tales, plus it was walking distance from where we were staying. Our original booking was changed to another slot for some reason but it worked out for us so no worries. There were about 12 other people on the tour. A little crowded but not bad. Our tour guide, Luna, was great; genuine and invested in the history, including her own stories. Wasn't the over the top acting we witnessed walking around the outside with other tour groups. Disappointed that the upstairs was not ready for touring but gives us something to come back to. The staging of the house was nice and darkened for atmosphere, of course. Wife had an auditory experience that I did not hear. Will mark this for a repeat trip. Well worth making it something to do on a night out.

My boyfriend & I came here to celebrate his 22nd birthday we did the night time paranormal investigation, not only did we have multiple encounters but we also made a few friends! Our tour guide was great (amber or aburey I’m terrible with names) ! My boyfriend got a lot of activity on the spirit box & I had a chilling conversation in the women’s parlor using dowsing rods, and to be honest I was really skeptical, really didn’t believe the responses we were getting until I was the one holding the rods. Outside of the equipment the energy radiating in the room was enough to make the experience worth the price. I really thought I would be scared & paranoid in a haunted old house but it’s like the more active it got the more excited and comfortable I got! This was an experience we will never forget & we will definitely be returning.

What a wonderful yet spooky experience!! Nora was the best tour guide! She was thorough with explaining the history and I liked how she gave the possible theories that are rumored to be the explanations of how things happened. Ny son has been researching this place for months he was so excited. Nora answered any questions that came up. She even offered to send a link to any creepy footage any guests encountered while on the tour. I will say....the hooded man's breezeway.....my son didnt see him in the breezeway but he did see him in the first floor foyer! It was funny to see the outside walking tours as we were walking up the steps to start the tour and the guides were saying "This is the Sorrel house, and look those are braver souls than I". She also goves you some extra time on each floor to explor a bit and take photos, no flash to preserve the arsuch of course. Highly recommend!!

I took the architecture tour. So worth it! Our guide, Selah, was great! Very informative, professional and made me feel welcome. The furnishings in the house are AMAZING! Please don't touch anything to preserve for the next visitors. The detail and beauty of the furniture and dining room place settings were exquisite. I recommend this tour.

Note that tours occur on the hour so it took some time before we could get in. We were the only ones on the tour. The daytime tour was fine. Our guide would have preferred to be somewhere else, that was pretty clear by the demeanor and body language. It’s an old house that is in the process of being restored (I think). It felt like it was walking a line between “Not interested in maintaining” and “letting it go, completely”. We did the Owens-Thomas tour the same day and they really aren’t comparable in any way. I suspect that the high ratings are for the ghost tours since that is one of the main draws for the area and this place, specifically. If you have the time, it’s cool to see and the price is decent. But, If you are light on time and can’t spend time at multiple locations, this is one you can skip.

Moon River Brewing Company, established in 1999, is a beloved brewery located near the river in Savannah. The brewery offers its own craft beers on tap, including popular selections like Yoga Pants and Swamp Fox. Visitors can enjoy these brews alongside hearty comfort food from the menu, with each dish conveniently paired with a recommended beer for the perfect match. The brewery is housed in one of Savannah's oldest buildings and is rumored to be haunted, adding an extra layer of intrigue to its charm.
Well we didn't see a ghost 👻. But, we did have some great adult beverages and food. Overall I think everyone had a good time and our server was very attentive and even brought us ghost tour brochures which I felt was above and beyond. Well done!

The food tasted great. We had the pecan chicken and a moon burger with fries. It was not as much food as you get at the Pirate House, but not as expensive. The waitress was very friendly and the food came out quick. My only complaint was I asked for the burger well done and it was pink in the middle.

Maybe the experience could have been better if there was more staff on duty. Long wait time with limited outdoor seating even though there was plenty of space. Was told by the hostess that we would be promptly served had we sat at the bar, which we did. Our bartender was very friendly, but you could tell she was overwhelmed with the amount of people that she had to cater to. Live intermittent musician playing outside. Outdoor spacing could have so much more potential. It was chilly that night, and they had limited heat sources outside. The food itself could have been prepared better or at least come out hot. It was obvious to us that it had been sitting around before it came out to our table.

Excellent service, easily accommodates someone with a wheelchair inside (just enter through the outside seating). We had the chips and salsa and added the Wacky Wit Queso. My son describe the queso as more of a fondue, and he's right. It's a very "full-bodied" dip, and will fill you up if you aren't careful. Definitely not the kid of dip you can just eat chip after chip. Husband had the shrimp and grits, I had the loaded tots, and son had the mac and cheese bowl with chicken. He has never had buffalo chicken before because he just never gave it a shot. Well, he enjoyed it, but could barely eat half of the serving. I'm sure that the queso played into it. I enjoyed the tots, but they might have been sitting a bit waiting for everyone else's meals. They weren't ice cold, but they weren't warm. They were very crispy, though, and that's what counts when you have something with potatoes. The balsamic reduction is awesome on it. Husband enjoys trying shrimp and grits from various places to see how they make it. He enjoyed this one, too.

We were going there to do the investigation with Truth in Evidence Haunted Tours anyway, so we decided to try the food out. We're glad we did. The hostess Savannah, & our server Katie were great. Very helpful, polite, & attentive. My wife got the Chicken Taco-Dillas, & I got the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Both of our dishes were delicious, & the prices were good. The atmosphere of the place was cool, & the investigation turned out great. Would recommend you do both while in Savannah!

I'm staying in town for a week for work and was looking for a local brewery to check out - this was the perfect spot! I sat at the bar on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather comfortably. Bradley was an excellent and attentive bartender and was great conversation! He asked every customer if they wanted to taste the beer they ordered before getting it - loved that. I had the 'taco-dillas' paired with some collard greens on the side, and they did not disappoint in the slightest 🤤 Great flavor and a unique dish. It's also a very short walk from the river, so you can walk down there for shopping and watch the ships come in. I definitely recommend this spot!

Heard good things about Moon River so the five of us plus two dogs stopped in for dinner. We chose the outdoor seating as that area is pet friendly. We ordered drinks from our server Diamond and were promptly served. Ordered Wing's and peal your own shrimp. Shrimp was plentiful at $20 and a 5 ⭐ however the small amount of wings for $12 left a lot to be desired so 3 ⭐. Mac and cheese bowl with chicken $12 was also a bit of a let down so another 3 ⭐. Bill had the Bratwurst with peppers and fries $10. Brat was over cooked as were the meager amount of peppers so again 3 ⭐. I had the Grouper with Rice and Broccoli $20 which was large and very good 5 ⭐. Another guest had the Caprese Sandwich at best a 4 ⭐. Shrimp and Grits were also good and at $20 a bit pricey but good. We also tried the 10 beer sampler $18 and as with any sampler you have some winners and some losers your call and hard to give a rating. Parking is always a challenge on Bay Street but were lucky and able to find metered handicap parking. Will we return? In all likelihood yes but will order some different items. By the way, food pictures are partly eaten so don't think we only received two wings etc.

This is a MUST for any Savannah visit. This historic building was the first hotel, post office and bank in the city and has been standing since 1821. The atmosphere is incredible. Reportedly haunted, as it has been featured on Ghost Adventures etc, but I had no encounters of my own 😊 The service was outstanding. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a beer and some food. Being a dark beer drinker, I went with the porter and was impressed. Later, I had their bourbon cocktail mule and enjoyed that as well. But somehow in a brewery where the drinks are certainly enjoyable, the food stole the show! I highly recommend their grilled chicken sandwich. I ordered it with cheddar and fries and was blown away by how delicious it was. I believe my wife ordered a burger and a light beer and she was impressed as well. The two employees who were working the bar were super attentive and friendly. The bathroom was very spacious, clean and modern. They have a patio outside and the inside seating area was much larger than I expected. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed with this establishment and will be back when I visit Savannah on my future trips. Moon River is truly one of the gems in this beautiful city.

Oatland Island Wildlife Center is a zoo-like preserve that offers an intimate wildlife experience for families. The center features natural habitats where dozens of species roam freely. Visitors can explore different exhibits, such as Predators of Georgia and Wolf Wilderness, showcasing animals like cougars, bobcats, grey wolves, and armadillos. Families can enjoy safe animal encounters and educational programs while strolling along the two-mile trail through marshes and forests.
We recently had the chance to visit the Oatland Island Wildlife Center, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, everything felt very inviting and well cared for. The staff clearly put a lot of effort into keeping the grounds, habitats, and facilities clean, safe, and enjoyable for visitors. It was especially noticeable how well-upkept everything was, which made exploring the area even more pleasant. Our two-year-old had an absolute blast, which says a lot because young kids can sometimes be hard to please when it comes to outings. He loved walking the trails, seeing the animals up close, and pointing out everything with excitement. Watching his reactions made the experience even more memorable for us as parents. There was a nice balance of shaded paths, open areas, and interactive spaces that kept him entertained without being overwhelming. The variety of animals was also impressive, and it felt like each enclosure was designed thoughtfully, both for the animals’ comfort and for the visitors’ viewing experience. Overall, Oatland Island Wildlife Center exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely recommend it to families with young children or anyone looking for a relaxing, educational, and fun day outdoors.
Josh T — Google review
The lady at the ticket booth was very friendly. If it were not for her this would be a 1 star review. The cost is very reasonable, but I was expecting to see more animals. For the length of the trail, there are very few animals. And the few they had, many were hiding, in vet care or for whatever reason the exhibit is closed. It was pretty hot when we came as well, in the mid-80’s so by the time we were halfway through we were dripping in sweat. The first half of the trail was somewhat enjoyable but after that it was just torture. Very few animals and we just wanted it to end! If you like walking a lot and sweating a lot, go for it. If you like seeing lots of animals, go somewhere else.

A great way to spend a few hours outside, taking a walk and seeing animals. The wildlife trail is very pretty to walk through with a few different stops to sit. This place is also affordable at $5 for adults, I definitely recommend.

Amazing place! Spent about an hour and a half here but you could easily spend three hours here especially with kids. It's $5 a person and totally worth every single penny. The trails are beautiful. Tons of Spanish moss. There is a vending machine. There's restrooms in the visitor center and then about 40% through the trail is another. You park in the lot and then walk around or through the visitor center to get to the trails, once you're on it, it's not confusing at all.
Breonna P — Google review
This is a great location for children to learn about many different animals varying from wolves to eagles. It was hot so bring plenty of water and be sure to take breaks. The trail is about 2 miles long and offers some shade.
Matthew C — Google review
What an absolute great time, and for a low entry price! This is an absolute must if you have children and are looking to burn a couple of hours. The inside is relatively small and short, but the outside walking trail is a nice long easily 2 hour walk full of animals and experiences. We enjoyed the small aquatic display inside and the cute gift shop, but the real hit was the farm area with all the various animals, cows, donkeys, sheep, goat, chickens, pigs, turkeys, and a few others really drew the whole thing in and made it a great stop for our toddler. DOWNSIDES. The walking trail while accessible, is very rough in some spots and not the best in others so it can be challenging briefly. Come prepared with bug spray, water, and fans depending on the time of year, and you should be good to go.
Robert B — Google review
Our family had an amazing two-hour adventure exploring this wildlife refuge! The entry fee was incredibly affordable, and we were able to see several animals up close. The staff was friendly, and the trails were well-marked and easy to follow. We even rented a wagon for just $5; a lifesaver when the kids got tired. Highly recommend this place for visitors of all ages!

Through interactive exhibits, films, and memorabilia, the museum provides insight into the city's role in the struggle for civil rights.
This was a wonderful experience. The history was fascinating, and it was incredible to learn about the struggles and sacrifices our ancestors faced for education, voting, and more. It's astonishing that we still encounter challenges and reminders today. This museum exhibit was filled with rich history, and we will definitely visit again with our kids. Thank you for providing such a valuable and educational experience.

The Green-Meldrim House, located in Savannah, Georgia, is a prime example of Gothic Revival architecture and holds significant historical value. Built between 1853 and 1861 for Charles Green, a wealthy cotton merchant, the house boasts an impressive exterior with features such as a stuccoed brick facade, cast-iron porch, oriel windows, and an imposing front cast-iron fence.
I went on a guided tour here and it was awesome. The docent was very knowledgeable and engaging. He interacted well with those in attendence. He was also fully transparent as to which artifacts were to the house and which weren't. The house is well maintained. The stories accompanying the rooms were both educational and informative. I would definitely recommend coming here.

The house was beautiful. Our floor 2 tour guild has been a volunteer for over 20 years and was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. The floor 1 guide was weirdly overexcited to the point of tripping over her words (said ummm a lot). She gushed for several minutes about how a painting of a straight faced woman "has the most soulful lively eyes" ( none of us could see it) and mentioned odd personal facts like the china cups reminding her of her own china that none of her children want.

Wonderful tour full of history presented by an exceptional tour guide. I was part of the Windsor Forest Garden Club that toured the house. I phoned and contacted them for the tour ahead of time. Of the homes I toured, this one has some of the best history and beauty. I would call this one a must-see. Interestingly owned and operated by a church, it is used for certain church activities as well as guided tours. The docents were quite well informed.

This home ... now run for the Parish ... is striking. The history linked to it is astounding and our guide was so knwledgable you would have thought he lived his whole life here ... but he was from Brooklyn. HE WAS GREAT ... and the staff too. Access to the upstairs was by stairs only so there are some mobility issues ... but the staff is helpful and just seeing the 1st floor was fine for me; all the history was right their in those rooms and the great images they had. Put this on your list of homes to see.

Closed to tours for some event, looked around at junk they were selling after taking a tour of their church, asked a lady at a beverage desk if I could have a glass of water and she asked very smugly if I had bought lunch or was a vendor and refused to give me one, which was in a tiny disposable plastic cup. Looks like a beautiful building though.

Great tour today on Super museum Sunday. Each guide answered my questions fully and with great attention. Love the exquisite details throughout the house such as the crown molding around the ceilings and the gorgeous very old antiques. The Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home Museum is a restored house where the acclaimed American author lived from her birth in 1925 until 1938. The home offers regular tours and hosts community events, including a fall reception with lectures by experts discussing different aspects of O'Connor's life and work.
Flannery O’Connor, an important author of fiction set in the American South, lived in this house (built in 1856) until she was 13 years old. The tour of the house shows her life during those early years and how that experience helped shape her writing. O’Connor had a unique personality even as a child—she loved to read (the bathtub was her favorite spot!), invited her friends over and read out loud to them, and wrote critical notes on the stories she had read. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable about O’Connor, her family, and Savannah in the early 20th century. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely tour at the Flannery O’Conner Childhood Home. The docent was knowledgeable and passionate about the early years of this wonderful Southern writer. If you are a fan of hers, or just a fan of history and cool stuff, you will learn a ton on this tour.

This tour was a highlight of my week in Savannah! I love to visit literary locations when I’m in a new city, and this tour did not disappoint! The tour guide, Jo, was lively and informative. My husband went in without and prior O’Connor knowledge and really enjoyed the tour as well. Great merch! 😉 📚
Corrie K — Google review
I'm admittedly biased, as Flannery O'Connor is my absolute favorite writer, but I do think that any literature or history fan would enjoy this tour. The house is small, given that it's an actual middle-class home from the early 20th century. There are about a dozen or so, maybe fewer, original pieces owned by the O'Connor family on display; the rest of the furniture is made up of period-accurate pieces that the foundation has done an excellent job of acquiring to emulate what the house must have been like in Flannery's childhood. The entire tour will take less than an hour. What made this really special to me was connecting with Mary and Janie, our tour guide and the director of the FOCH, respectively. It's rare that I get to talk about O'Connor and her work with other folks who are genuine fans. Given my love for O'Connor's writing, my wife planned this as the first stop on our visit to the Savannah. It's always interesting to learn about the lives of other people, and it's of course especially fulfilling to flesh out one's understanding of a prominent person, particularly when it's of one's interest. Being able to talk to Mary and Janie, and see Flannery's childhood home and learn about her as a young girl that grew up to be an all-20th century writer of English prose, will add nuance and dimension to my future readings and rereadings of her work. It's also great that this wasn't a museum that served as a hagiography or tried to oversell Flannery O'Connor as a Savannah resident or American artist. It's purely educational and a simple, hearty experience that fills the soul.
Albert C — Google review
If you like Flannery O'Connor even a little bit, it's worth adding this to your itinerary. You can schedule a full guided tour or pop in during open hours to take a selfie guided tour of the first floor. A sweet and knowledgeable bosun was fun to discuss Flannery's life and writings as well as discuss the period pieces in the home. For bibliophiles, be sure to grab a copy of your favorite title from the gift shop to get it embossed.

My partner and I were fortunate to be the only ones in our tour group, so we had the opportunity to pick out your guide's brain as much as we wanted. We had previously dropped in without booking in advance, and they were sold out which is why I still recommend booking in advance to guarantee your spot. I've never read Flannery, but partner loves her work. Even without being familiar with her work, I do enjoyed learning about this remarkable lady! At the end of the your, our guide told us this was her first tour which was her surprising because she was so natural and knowledgeable! Both ladies working there were.

Do not overlook this stop. The tour guide was exceptional, knowledgeable and very interactive. I left feeling like I had gotten to know the people who lived there and the life that shaped this incredible author. I've seen many homes in Savannah and this is one I'd put at the top of the list. A sweet and funny little gem in the city.
Erica M — Google review
When I took some visiting friends to this museum late last spring, Janie gave us a great tour of the two floors and invited us to explore books that included some of O'Connor's art. When I discovered that the museum runs a book club devoted to books Flannery read, I signed up for it and thoroughly enjoyed the November meeting devoted to Iris Murdoch's The Bell. I highly recommend the museum and the book club!

Laurel Grove North Cemetery is a picturesque Victorian-era burial ground in Savannah, Georgia. The cemetery offers a glimpse into the city's history with its well-preserved gravesites and charming gazebos nestled among moss-covered trees. Unlike other tourist spots in Savannah, Laurel Grove North remains relatively undiscovered, making it a hidden gem for visitors seeking a peaceful and mesmerizing experience.
I love this cemetery dearly. You must go to find out why, and please book a tour with Shannon Scott Tours. A quick online search will reflect what everyone else is saying -- you won’t regret it! Laurel Grove North is far less trespassed than most tourist areas in Savannah, and therefore, a real gem. The decaying, sculptural and delicate beauty of it all is otherworldly and truly breathtaking. It is a peaceful, mesmerizing place. You could walk around for hours only wishing you had more time, so make it count! Take a tour with someone who can share Savannah's greatest stories, introduce you to her most charming characters, and leave you planning your next trip back! If you like to travel where few others have gone and learn from the best, look no further. Photography by Alissa Lee Nicholson.

I love that this cemetery has a grave site locator on site. You can find it on the right side right after you come through the entrance. I have ancestors buried here and wasn't quite sure where the graves were. I was able to find them on the kiosk. Beautiful cemetery. I didn't notice, but hopefully the city got cameras put up like they said they would do after some vandalism.

Excellent guide, Pascal. Beautiful and interesting cemetery. Truly a forgotten gem.
Paul B — Google review
While Bonaventure is considered the cemetery celebrity, Laurel Grove is arguably the local's favorite. Its also the only true Victorian Era cemetery as it was sold out by 1900. The array of mausoleums is unparalleled locally as well as the architectural variety of overall monuments and there is more decorative iron work here than contained in the nearby city as a whole. It seems to have more to do with the standing Historic District as well in terms of personalities buried here and surviving buildings in town. The cast includes some 1500 Civil.War soldiers, multiple Union and Confederate Officers and really all in Savannah's only Civil War Military Section. For many the best element is the solace as one is quite often the only visitor over the many acres. Be aware that on weekends there is no real bathroom and office is closed. In spite of the unfair stigma of being called unsafe 20 years ago, it has become safe, is fenced off from a suffering neighborhood, just use common sense and enjoy this hidden gem.

An enjoyable second floor taproom in a repurposed house. Each room was unique and offered seating. We enjoyed the dark Mexican lager. We’re still getting used to paying $7.00 a beer. We visited early afternoon on a Wednesday and the brewery had a great crowd. It seems to be a place visited by locals which was cool.

Discover the perfect getaway where flavor-packed beers await! This vibrant spot makes you feel right at home, inviting you to kick back and relax. Bring along your laptop and enjoy a fantastic brew while you work in a cozy, energizing atmosphere. It’s the ideal place to fuel your creativity and unwind at the same time!

Fantastic beers. Their "how much cheese is too much cheese" cheesecake series is amazing. Other sours were great as well. In a big old house with many rooms to hang out in. Awesome porch upstairs that you go out a giant window to access. Super cool.

Loved Two Tides Brewing Co. in Savannah, Georgia so much. It had a really cool vibe. They have a food truck downstairs, but the brewery is upstairs. It’s sort of looks like an old house with a lot of different rooms. They had some of the best sours I’ve ever had in my life and coming from Charlotte, North Carolina is a pretty bold statement. I tried a purple corn lager and it was good but their three sours were absolutely incredible. I’m so bummed I didn’t take any home with me. The service was absolutely incredible as well. The only negative I would have is the day we went, there were 1 million kids there. I would still go back in a heartbeat.

Fantastic NEIPA’s that can go head to head with some of the breweries I have around me (Boston). They are tough to find down there in that part of the country, but those were all awesome. My wife who is not a beer girl really loved the sours, especially the smoosh. Also, just a cool place to drink at. Great brewery.

Staff is awesome! They loved our dogs (German shepherd and Doberman). The drinks were amazing and priced well. We are not locals and it was such a neat spot to check out the different rooms. 10/10 would recommend. We will def be back to visit!

A great brewery for an IPA lover like me (they have plenty of other types too). I did something I normally don't do....bought a flight just because there were so many to try. All were great and ended up getting a pint of two of them. The service was super. The service people were very friendly and welcoming. We sat out on the balcony on a beautiful day in January and enjoyed our beers. I highly recommend this brewery!

Factor's Walk is a historic area in Savannah, known for its row of red brick buildings where cotton brokers once conducted business during the peak of the cotton trade. The unique architectural layout includes split-level streets and footbridges, reflecting the city's geography with the city sitting atop a 40-foot high bluff while warehouses and offices were built down at river level. Today, Factor's Walk is a bustling area with shops, cafes, art galleries, and historic hotels housed in former warehouses.
Amazingly enchanting place picture perfect for the whole family gray to walk around Window Shop eat relax smoke a cigar I will definitely come back

Unique area on the river front of Savannah. There are shops and restaurants of various types. The history is interesting. Tugs, a riverboat and a huge container/cargo ship came up the river the afternoon we were there.

such a beautiful town with many places to visit. And an absolutely must for me is fried green tomatoes in one of the restaurants at the river

We really enjoyed our stroll down Factor's Walk. We parked on the street, walked all the way down, then we walked back up via River Street. It's a nice way to spend a couple hours.
Jennifer N — Google review
Very enjoyable and every shop we went in, people were super nice.

Such a beautiful little spot! Plenty of shops and restaurants! Go check it out if you're nearby!

Great shops for candy, food, accessories, gifts, major and minor decor items. The Cotton Exchange Tavern had great eats.
Melinda H — Google review
Very nice clean area to enjoy time. The area seemed much more family friendly than my wife and I expected so that was a nice plus as we weren't looking to "party". The music playing from the restaurant's nearby made sitting on the bench quite enjoyable as our son ate candy from the wonderful candy store nearby.
