Nestled in the heart of downtown Danville, the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History is a captivating destination that invites visitors to explore both art and local heritage. Housed in the historic Sutherlin Mansion, once home to Major William T. Sutherlin, this museum offers a unique glimpse into the past with its rotating art exhibits and extensive Civil War displays.
A treasure! The house itself is an amazing piece of history. All of the other information and exhibits make it a great place to visit to learn about Danville VA and US history. The docents and volunteers were also super friendly and helpful.

The Maud Gatewood Takeover is great! I highly recommend visiting the DMFAH and viewing this collection. There is emotion - passion, anger, love, confusion, and more. The use of mixed media and techniques are wonderful.
Dana M — Google review
What a historic treasure! The house has such a significance in US history, it should not be missed. The woman from the gift shop gave me a private tour, and we were able to have some discussions on different topics of historic interest. The house is beautifully maintained, with many original furnishings, paintings and clothing of the Sutherlins. Too bad the town turned it into a library at one point and moved the stair case, but you can definitely get a feel of what it looked like when Jefferson Davis stayed there. There is a wonderful Civil War room, with artifacts, Civil Rights wing, a black opera star Camilla Williams wing and an art exhibit wing. There is also an auditorium, but it was empty. The house has a spooky feeling and is haunted by benevolent ghosts. An upstairs room is the meeting place for the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Very interesting! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Had a great collection of items from the 1800s and lots of information about the history of Danville and the house the museum is located in.

Friendly staff. A historic home with a storied past. Parking available in the rear. A great museum fo to visit for 1-2 hours. Cute gift shop with local items to purchase.

The UDC has a great disply there. Too bad that the historic President Jefferson Davis room was taken out and turned into something else. What a loss. There's plenty of room for both

Beautiful homes with amazingly unique architecture. Take the time to explore each one from a distance....youll see all kinds of neat little nooks.

Closed, we arrived about 15mins prior and since the hubby did 20yrs military, and is retired we would have had to pay $20 for the 2 of us to quickly look at a few Wendell Scott momentos, so we just went by his garage instead and enjoyed our time in Danville. History is awesome to see

The Danville Science Center is a fantastic destination for families seeking an engaging and educational outing. This interactive science museum features a seasonal butterfly center, a dome-shaped digital theater, and numerous hands-on exhibits that captivate visitors of all ages. Kids can explore the wonders of water on the lower level, complete with exciting activities like a water maze and painting station. The upper floor offers even more fun with physical challenges and creative labs where young minds can build their own rocket ships or race cars.
The best science center I've been to. They are educated, accessible, and full of diverse and fun activities. Rotating exhibits, Museums for All participant. They offer memberships and have daily dome movies, live sky cams, and a creativity lab where they do different activities for STEM learning. There is an interactive play room, water room, and many other learning opportunities including a hurricane simulator.

Surpassed our expectations! My little kids ( boy - 6 yrs and girl - 1 yrs old) absolutely loved it! This was our first time! We got in free using our ASTC membership! We spent 2 hours there ( which included visiting the train/toddler area)! Lots of fun hands on activities and educational STEm-focused exhibits! This was a great place to stop and burn off energy on our way from Charlotte NC to Williamsburg VA ( half way point)!
Ashley T — Google review
Danville Science Center was really cool. They have many interactive play areas. Foam cutouts to build tracks and structures, a train station based play area for toddlers, a dinosaur area with foam cutouts to build dinosaurs. The outside tran are with the caboose was really neat. The butterfly exhibit was also super neat. To me the best part was all of the interactive science exhibits in the alternate building. Our granddaughter(2 yr) loved all of the activities and especially the rain maze. At 9 pp with out the dome movie(12 pp for admission and movie) it was a really affordable way to get outside in the beautiful river district!

We have been before, so we mainly came this time for the Thomas and Friends exhibit before its departure. My nephew grew up loving Thomas, and my 9yr old son has become very fond of it as well. They were both in heaven here! I also enjoyed learning more about the history of how it came to be. We had a blast! Of course we then had to visit the real caboose on the back.
Kristie N — Google review
Awesome Experience 👌 Must visit with Kids. My kids are 11 and 9 years old. They loved it here 😍❤️ Lots to learn about for kids. You must not will the Dome movie show. It's 3PM show we went. Lots of Fun activity's for kids. Creative Lab Dome Movie show Exhibit Gallery Hurricane Chambers.

If I could give it 10 stars I would! My class went for a field trip today and it was wonderful! They had everything planned out perfectly for us! We will definitely go back!
Mandy — Google review
We traveled to the science center from NC specifically for the train exhibit for my son. It was definitely worth the drive. The train exhibit takes up a whole building with Thomas on one side and a big wooden train on the other for younger kids. The building also backs up to train tracks so we got to see a freight train going by. They also have a walk thru caboose outside. We didn't spend as much time in the other building that has the science stuff but we did enjoy the water section. We will be back to visit so we can go into the planetarium dome and the creativity lab. The staff are very friendly as well.
Heather D — Google review
Went on a co-op field trip with my son. They kept them moving and kept them interested. Our group leader did great giving instructions to the kids and maintaining the program. There is a place for groups to eat so we all packed a snack or lunch. They keep the lunches, as they are not allowed near the displays but then at lunch time, they deliver everything right on time. They made sure the kids had regular bathroom breaks and there were water fountains throughout. Also, the gift shop is a gem. Not a lot of choices but the ones they have are very kindly priced. There were $.50 bouncy balls so no worries.

What a great place with great ownership. The wines and brews are very well crafted with a little bit of something for everyone. The indoor space is huge and they have an outdoor patio option as well. The staff is superb and genuinely just nice hard working people. We had a great time and there was even an open mic night where anyone who wanted could sign up to sing there favorite tunes. All in all a very good feel vibe and extremely inclusive of everyone. Will being coming back when we’re in the area again! Cheers!!

Enjoyed tasting the various Craft beers. When the music gets too loud, I go outside to sit.
Jonathan G — Google review
Nic easy atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I got a one of the ales - not bad but not overwhelmingly mindblowing. Price was marked around $5 so pretty good deal. I also got a hard seltzer, paid $20 cash and only got $8 back so my guess is that it's around $7. They're not open everyday nor are they open very late. 1st time here and they had a softball game going on on a Monday eve. There was a food truck outside but I didn't stop by to see what it was. Will come back again to give their other drinks a try.

Visited 2 Witches last week for a family outing. The team was super friendly and the beers tasty. I picked the sour beef and added cherry flavor, it was tart and satisfying! Will be back to see love music, they have 2 stages and it looks super inviting.

Loved finding this winery/brewery open in Danville on a Monday. Great customer service and a real family vibe. They have a huge indoor space for seating as well as a large outdoor space. It looks like they have bands come play there sometimes also. The Rosé wine I tried was clean and crisp with a good flavor profile but not too sweet. My spouse tried a beer tasting flight and loved all 4 of them. If we lived in the area this is definitely a place we would frequent. Dog friendly too!

Awesome place. Staff is so friendly!! Great craft brews. Wonderful facility. Room inside for hot days and great outdoor area as well. Put it on your "To do list"

I love 2 Witches. They have the coolest owners and great wines and beers made right there at their location. New stage area outside. Improv set are a good time to go out and Express yourself freely. The atmosphere is down to earth and welcoming. The story behind 2 Witches is very inspiring as well. Come join us tonight! Come support one of Danvilles #1 breweries.

Needed that afternoon iced coffee BAD! Found this amazing little shop near downtown Danville. The coffee was so smooth and silky, absolutely amazing! Fast, friendly service! Nice vibe! Definitely check it out. They also have food!
Kevin K — Google review
They use Monin syrup in mochas. They say it makes a better mocha as the Monin sauce is too thick. We have been using Monin sauce at home for well over a decade. It's far superior. Syrup has a nutty chemical taste.
Troy C — Google review
If you’re looking for coffee with a truly deep and authentic flavor, paired with a wonderful selection of wines from diverse origins, this is the perfect spot. Whether you’re here for good conversation or quiet moments alone, the atmosphere feels warm and safe. The staff are kind, and the owner is just as delightful.
Siriluck N — Google review
I heard people speak highly of the food here but my experience was different. This was the most disgusting Hawaiian pizza I have ever eaten. The pizza sauce is literally tomato paste and the ham that is supposed to be on the pizza was only 2 thin slices. The whole pizza was just tomato paste and hardly any cheese was on it.

Our ballet company was in town for a performance, and this place truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional, and the service was flawless—every detail was handled with care. A truly unforgettable experience.

Riverwalk Trail is a picturesque walking trail that stretches for miles along the Dan River, easily accessible from a nearby complex. The trail offers stunning views of the river and takes you across a large bridge with scenic vistas. As you walk, you can enjoy the natural beauty alongside the river and even venture into the downtown area. However, it's important to note that there are some historic elements along the trail, including views of Confederate flags on Highway 58.
It was a nice walk over the river on a very hot day.

We were in town for a brief weekend getaway and wanted to find a brunch spot before leaving. Although there weren't many options available, we chose Cotton at Riverside Mill because of its menu and ratings. We arrived with a group of four on Sunday afternoon and found the restaurant to be quiet and not crowded at all. Our waitress, Deborah, was prompt in taking our drink and food orders. The food arrived swiftly and all of our requests were met accurately.
Great spot that overlooks the Dan River. Great drink selection & the food was amazing. The staff were super friendly & attentive. Started with the crispy brussel sprouts(so good), had the shrimp & grits for the main(phenomenal), & ended with the peach cobbler (saved the best for last obviously). I attempted to take pics but ate half of everything before I got the pics because everything was so good. When I am back in Danville I'll definitely become a repeat customer at this gem of an establishment!
Joey B — Google review
The food was pretty good, pricey, but we went in expecting the cost. Our server was pleasant, but the service itself took a while, we understood it was a Saturday afternoon but they had plenty of tables available. A note for parents, they do not offer teas or sodas, our son had to get a non-alcoholic beer (which did contain 0.5% alcohol). Overall, a nice experience, but I can't say I'd recommend.
Tomi G — Google review
Good dinner. Both my wife and enjoyed our meal. The stuffed flounder was very good. Mashed potatoes lacked seasoning and were not to temp. Overall, I would try it again
Paul S — Google review
It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a very long time. The restaurant is next to the Dan River and provides great views. The food is absolutely incredible... Everything was fantastic! The service was perfect. We will be back when in Danville.

Accommodations were amazing. Food and service were absolutely excellent would highly highly recommend whenever you are in Danville, Virginia. Absolutely wonderful and could not say enough good things about the espresso martini and the truffle fries. Thank you to the staff, racist, waiter, and everyone who accommodated our party of 40 people on short notice. It was wonderful.

My husband and I are so impressed by all the restaurants and shops in Danville. This restaurant was beautiful and the food was delicious. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had salmon and that was delicious as well.

Ballad Brewing, situated in the historic Tobacco District of Danville, Virginia, is a renowned craft brewery known for its commitment to quality. Housed in a renovated tobacco building, the brewery exudes old-world charm with original hardwood floors and brick walls. The spacious interior offers a casual vibe with various seating options and entertainment like trivia nights on Thursdays. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a good selection of 24 beers while relaxing in the small outdoor area between buildings.
Extremely friendly staff. The two male bartenders were awesome! Delicious beer in a beautiful historic building. No food on property but you can bring in your own. Great outside patio area and modern apparel and gifts. I certainly will visit when back in the area. Definitely recommend.
Ryan — Google review
Awesome space and good beers! However, we were definitely overcharged as the bartender did not honor their advertised price on a canned beer special. Also tried many times to get ahold of the manager via email only to be ghosted. Speaking of ghosts, this place was often empty. Not sure why since it's such a cool spot, but something seems to be missing.

Ballad has been open 4 years now & amazing space to brew in this old factory building in downtown Danville, VA. Wheelchair accessible - come inside and they have bar and lots of seating in a great indoor room and outside in a very nice patio area. Now, let’s talk beer. Great variety of Mild, Koelsch, Sours & IPA’s. Better bring a cooler for some take home - 4 packs available.
David D — Google review
The inside was amazing. Huge but cozy. Nice outdoor space too. The beer was excellent! Lots of styles. I can’t pick a favorite. In a great area of the city as well, the growing River District.
Kenny B — Google review
Danville has been real busy as of late refurbishing, renovating, building, and growing the community. The historic Tobacco District is beautiful, nostalgic, and generally pretty inviting, with all the happenings it now has going on. Ballad Brewing is located in one of the renovated Tobacco buildings and chock full of old-world charm. The giant, heavy barn doors, the original hardwood floors, the brick walls all bring a comfortable and friendly feeling. . My husband and I had a 'date day' exploring Danville one afternoon and it brought us to this place. We were there pretty early in the afternoon, the only two as they had just opened. The two barkeeps were super friendly, helpful, fun, and conversational. They gave us background info on many of the brews and told us of a few of the activities held there from time to time. Each month they have a different set of activities and things going on. . People also use them as a venue for celebrations like weddings and parties. And it's certainly an ideal place for a group of family and friends to spend time together.
Celena B — Google review
We had an impromptu stop early on a Friday afternoon. Ballad was such a wonderful visit! Great space indoors and out, benches, tables, couches, cornhole, shuffleboard, pinball. I loved the whole atmosphere! Beautiful brick, old school distressed wood floors. Totally worth a stop if you are in the area!

This charming eatery is dedicated to serving up delicious meals that are friendly to those with allergies and dietary restrictions. With an impressive menu featuring gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, everyone can find something delightful here—even those without special requirements!
Delightful restaurant. Service was prompt. I ordered the salmon, garden salad and homemade pickles. My food was very good. My friend ordered the catfish but he said his fish didn’t taste like catfish it tasted more like tilapia and he has been eating catfish for years. I tried it and it really didn’t taste like catfish to me either. We did not say anything to the waitress about the fish. I am still rating a 5 because the food I ordered and ate was delicious and I would recommend. I do recommend to go early because there seemed to be a wait when we left.
Debra — Google review
Got their special tonight and it was amazing fairly priced for the amount of food and I left with enough for another meal. Service was great. The greens were sooo good. The truffle tots had so much flavor. Worth the try.
Melissa B — Google review
My wife and I had heard good things about King Cropp so we thought we would try it out. Diner started out nice with a side salad and a couple of delicious mixed drinks. Our entrees came to the table and looked delicious. Three quarters of the way through my blacked catfish I noticed a long stringy thing pull out from the fillet as I prepare to take my next bite. I took a closer look and it was a worm!!! 🪱 I motioned for our waitress to come over and showed her what I found. I was quiet and descret as to not draw attention. I'm not the type to send back food, or make a fuss. When I showed her what was on the plate she at first tried to tell me it was a vein. After I assured her it was not a vein, and indeed a worm l let her take a closer look. She then exclamed that they had had this problem a couple of times before. I looked at my wife in disbelief. It made her so sick that she couldn't even finish her meal as she had also tried some of my catfish. The waitress left the table and said she would talk to the owner. She came back 10 minutes later to tell me that she wasn't charging me for the catfish but what about my wife? She left over half of her meal sitting on her plate because of being sickened by the sight of the worm. The owner, nor a manager came to the table to offer an explanation or an apology. I still left the waitress a good tip as she was as mortified as we were. I think it's safe to say we won't be going back again.
The L — Google review
While traveling in Virginia, we came upon a quaint little restaurant in Danville that made our dining a pleasure. Nicole, our server, was excellent and the food very good. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and there is outside seating. If you are ever in downtown Danville visit King Cropp Kitchen. The pinto beans are special, but unfortunately the banana pudding is not (it was not real custard and the Nilla wafers were hidden). The bathroom was really clean, too.
Aeronia P — Google review
My husband and I stopped on our way home. He got the fried chicken with bbq, mac&cheese, and waffle fries. I got the Calabasas shrimp with lemon rice and homemade pickles. The sides were good. The pickles were missing dill or something besides vinegar but weren't bad. The batter on the shrimp was bland, and it was the same batter for the fried chicken, also bland of course. The BBQ sauce was gross, too. I would dine here again in a few years though maybe, but this was a sad attempt at good Southern comfort food.
Andii L — Google review
I just want to say, the service here at King Cropp was phenomenal! My husband and I drove almost an hour away, with our anticipation GREATLY building. We were NOT disappointed. From the very beginning the staff was extremely kind and likeable, and the owner was just as friendly and reassuring as the rest. They answered all my questions, as silly as they were, they reassured me constantly that they take the utmost time and care to make sure nothing is cross contaminated. We ordered the fried pickles as the appetizer, with the alpha gal ranch, (since the five of us in my family all have alpha gal) and it was fantastic! I ordered the southern fried chicken, with coleslaw and waffle fries. My husband ordered the cauliflower nuggets with the spicy sauce, tater tots, and homemade pickles. Again, absolutely amazing and the portions were massive! Everything we ate was immaculate and tasty as could be. We still have a huge plate of leftovers, and we cannot wait to come back again. 10 out of 10, for atmosphere, service, and food!!
Faith R — Google review
Hi, this was a pleasant surprise in Danville. Fresh, gluten-free food prepared carefully and served efficiently and with warmth. The mac and cheese dish I had exceeded my expectations for flavor throughout the course, and the waffle fries seemed to have been prepared with thoughtfulness unusual with deep-fried food. It is almost as if they were hand cut and fried carefully. The resulting balance of flavors was outstanding. The service was excellent despite there being a dining rush on a Friday evening. The atmosphere is good, but only lacks one star because while everything is clean and everyone is friendly, the dining room is a bit utilitarian. Not a bad thing in an otherwise excellent restaurant.

I just got into my car and opened at my pizza box to see the most gorgeous Pizza I have ever seen in a very very long time! When I say this thing was perfect I mean every detail. She did not get anything wrong. Only right. What I said she put on that pizza and I mean she put it down with love because this is exactly what my pizza and every pizza I've ever ordered should look like. So thank you Melvina K.! You make a damn good pizza and thank you for not being shy with it. I can't wait to get home and enjoy this masterpiece. My mom is even going to flip when she sees this thing. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

We know the wait times here are typically long and take that into consideration when ordering. We arrived about 5 minutes after our order was supposed to be finished. It was hot and ready. We traveled 12 miles home and opened the boxes. All looked great. But when we began to eat, we realized the dough was not cooked in two of three pizzas. We had an extra cheese round (fully cooked), a deep dish Detroit (so uncooked that it could not be eaten), and a round hawaiian(partially cooked - I salvaged it by cooking in the oven for a few extra minutes). The deep dish pizza's cheese was barely melted next to the dough. We were given a 25-minute pickup time and arrived at 30 minutes. I'm not sure what went wrong with the order, but it was a disappointment, to say the least.

Pretty amazing pizza for what I ordered. I have more patience than most so the time wasn't really too bad for me to wait. It was definitely worth the wait because the pizza was really good.

They were busy when I arrived, but I was served quickly, and they had pizza boxes! I was able to quickly get in and out! The pizza and Italian cheese bread were cooked to perfection! I would recommend this location over the Piney Forest location!

Very poor customer service at this location. I will go to another city before I ever come back to this location. My order was not correct. I ordered 3 of the new mt dew, store was out of stock. Lady with an attitude said she had no way of refunding this since they were out of stick. But was insisting on refunding the whole order without ringing my order up without the stuff they we r e out of....thought she couldn't do this, or at least that is what she was raising her voice about. Makes no sense, if the product is out of stock shoulder the store be able to put that info in so nobody can order something they don't have. Common sense says this would be a way to not have this problem from ever occurring, duh. Workers are very very rude at this store, I feel like I was pucked on because I was white, nobody else got treated this way. I guess there is racist employees working here..I absolutely love little ceasers and defend it all the way for being great for the price, but this has me not wanting to do this anymore. This location is HORRIBLE, WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION TO ANYMONE EVER!! GOOD LUCK!! For future customers don't order anything without the understanding that if it's out of stock. They say they can't and won't help you fix it, idk pretty sure distract manager could help if the workers were actually willing to try and comply. Simple solution that would have avoided this whole bad experience....if you don't have an item available then don't make it available online to order. Make it out of stock, this is something that every place that uses online ordering does when they don't have item available. Common sense, this option has to be available if they were willing to do actually do their job and help a customer out!!!

Contacted corporate. We placed the order drove 20 minutes and when we got there it wasn't ready. No big deal we thought we waited over an hour. We finally got the pizzas and drove home to find out the order was messed up. The Batman cheese CALZONE was pepperoni instead, not cut, no sauce and still doughy. The sausage pizza wasn't cut either. So we had one edible pizza.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:17 PM, I ordered food from Little Caesar's. Coming from Riverside, I arrived at the Little Caesar's location around 10:31 PM to pick up a pizza for my kids. I went through the drive-thru but noticed the lights were not working and the sign was so worn that it was unreadable. Observing another customer entering the store, I assumed the drive-thru was out of order and decided to go inside to pick up my order. I parked in front of the store, left my kids in the car, and went inside. Upon entering, I was immediately told by an employee to move my car. I explained that I was just picking up a pizza I had ordered, but the employee insisted, saying, "I don't care; I said move your car and go through the drive-thru." I replied that I had already attempted the drive-thru, but no one responded, and I saw another customer enter the store. The employee then stated, "Well, if you can read, the sign says to pull forward." I explained that the sign was too worn out to be legible. Despite my attempts to resolve the situation calmly, I was accused of being drunk. Throughout the encounter, I kept my hands visible and showed no signs of aggression. Ultimately, I requested a refund. Given the poor treatment and the negative reviews I have since seen about this location, I will not be returning. I have posted some of my transactions to demonstrate that I have consistently ordered from this location, even though I do not always pick up the orders myself, often having family members do so on my behalf.

Museums
The AAF Tank Museum in Danville is a top attraction dedicated to preserving military tanks and armored fighting vehicles from around the world. The museum boasts an extensive collection of artifacts dating back to 1509, including tanks from various countries such as Germany, Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States. Visitors are impressed by unexpected finds like an alien craft from "War of the Worlds" and enjoy exploring the well-displayed exhibits.
Just go.. Make sure you have at LEAST 2 hours to walk the 5000+ Steps we did, gawking at history. Some spend 3-4 hours which can certainly be done if you look and read every placard at every display. Overall, we were blown away. The entrance and metal detector process to get in, in my opinion was a little excessive (like walking through an airport security). Not sure what the purpose was. Nonetheless, it is what it is.. Our cost for the wife and I was $20.00 to get in. At first you're greeted with an opportunity to browse through the PX (store). Mostly Tank RC vehicles, puzzles, toy assembly kits and various military regalia. There are 2 levels for your enjoyment. There are many ways to see this place after you enter. We decided to do the second level first. We had NO IDEA how big this place was on the second level until we went through the mazes of mannequins, uniforms, patched walls each representing times in history (mostly WWII), the uniform types, head dresses, Tank Optics and scenery of a typical setup of foxhole, battle entrenchment so on. I was impressed by the German uniforms as well. VERY COOL.. The upper level alone took 45 minutes. Bottom (floor level). HOLY COW.. THIS PLACE IS HUGE.. This opened up into a warehouse style of displays. Little did we know, this was only the 1st of 3 warehouses of displays. each was double the size of a football field long and if I had to guess with a calibrated eye, maybe 200 ft wide each. AMAZING how well this place is kept. Overall, we were in awe of ALL the history, the types of tanks, halftracks, mortars, restored old vehicles that were on display. June 17th there is supposed to be a flamethrower display. Also, there are climbing tours you can take. We didn't enquire into the cost of that but from what we saw and heard, it look to be engaging with the host walking this family through and on various items. I would like to come back one day and see some progress of some of the projects they're working on. WE HIGHLY recommend this place.

Way way more thorough and impressive than I imagined. We were both somber and elated, and of course PATRIOTIC!! The boss answered all our questions and gave us real perspective on the museum contents and its rightful place in history; which must be maintained and broadly experienced by USA citizens and others of all ages! Loved it!
Steven P — Google review
This tank museum is amazing, with all types of different tanks, aircraft, cars, and other vehicles. There are also multiple different types of submarines and boats on display. There is a flea market portion of the museum, which I enjoyed as well as a separate portion to buy antique products, which was awesome! I highly recommend this museum for anybody who likes military history.

This place blew me away! I had no idea it would be this extensive and with so many tanks and unexpected cool stuff like an alien craft from the movie "War of the Worlds". It went above and beyond my expectations. Nice clean gift shop, friendly staff, great reenacters that were so friendly and you could tell we're really loving doing it. The exhibits were displayed awesomely. They put so much work into it. They have an amazing field I think is for RC cars and tanks that I would love to see or try out. We were there for Flamethrower Day and, let me tell you, you cannot describe with words how hot it is when they shoot them. Definitely will be going back
Garland R — Google review
This place is filled with military Tanks and all kinds of interesting equipment. It is a large museum dedicated to all types of of transportation that are set up like a scene out of time. They also have a wide range of weapons used throughout time. It is a place to spend your day educating not only yourself but your whole family. This is a wonderful experience

This place is huge! Well worth the trip. We tried to go for the Flamethrower Day but went on the wrong day. They have a pretty cool section of flea market items for sale as well. Great educational information here. NO AC in the facility so be aware of this before you go and prepare to sweat a bit and walk a lot.

What a great experience. Our entire family loved touring the museum. Very well worth the time. Love that they include places you can take pictures with. Lots of history lessons today in a fun way because we truly don't want to forget our history.

I got to see the very last Flamethrower Day show: the second unplanned showing because so many people showed up that they couldn't accept everyone for the posted show...or everyone left after the first unplanned show. We got about 30 total seconds of flamethrower action before they ran out of fuel, and you know what? That 30 seconds really was plenty! The heat off that...wow! The physical sensation of it sent me all the way back into the hanger, quite willing (as the photos show) to see it from behind a few people. WOW!! My partner, who admitted it was a hard-headed ego thing, like trying to muscle through the hot sauce that turns out to be too hot. It's not a 'bro' thing as much as a 'D*** I can do this!' thing if you ask him. Anyway he refused to step back from the hottest section (where the flames met targets) and wound up with what would have been a sunburn if it had been caused by the sun! I can't imagine being on the receiving end of that. Being unable to escape that extraordinary heat, being unable to escape at all. We were told that ultimately the victims of a flamethrower incident died of smoke inhalation, but my guess is you can't tell a whole lot about how the guys on the very first line of victims died. That was a LOT of heat, a LOT of fire. It made me really shocked, really sad. My images aren't going to show the museum as it was, since they're packing up and moving a great deal of the collection to other museums and, I was told, returning some of them to the military folks from whom they'd been on loan. Nearly everything at the museum that was held by the museum itself was up for sale, yes including some of the tanks! I got stuck at a display towards the front of the line through which we moved: the colored ribbons worn to denote different medals received, different ranks and honors bestowed. I kept thinking about how those little bits of insignia represent some of the proudest moments of men and women who might or might not still be alive. The medals were likely donated, some brought from elsewhere, and if any were on loan they would have been returned...but to have some of them for sale...just $12 for this piece of someone's life, a visual representation of someone's most poignant, terrible, proud, difficult, unimaginable, frightened, and/or extraordinary experiences. For sale, $12. The young woman with whom I spoke told me that any that weren't sold would likely go on to another museum, though she didn't know for sure. I wanted to bring them home like puppies, ignore the possibility that they were given to the museum because the person attached to the honorable actions & earned rewards was some form of awful in ways I could never know but perhaps his family did all too well. What kind of energy could be attached to that? Plus what was I even going to do with them, make a little shrine? We don't even have my partner's various insignia up anywhere, though in large part because of his own pain around them. Maybe these people with the orphaned stripes & stars felt similarly. Anyway, it's closing. We got to see the flamethrowers despite being there a bit late & numerous for the official "Last Show Ever". We were the Lastest Last Show. They ran out of fuel, which means to me they must have made it stretch early on and for the consideration, I am grateful. I'm sorry to say I'd never come when we planned to before there was this urgency. We had the dates on our calendar well in advance numerous times a year, but often we checked the planners to find out when it is only to discover it was the day before, or on a date we had to work, and we have been missing Flamethrower Day for three years or more. It was SO HOT! So much hotter than I ever expected! I wish I had been a better and more frequent visitor of the Tank Museum, and maybe they wouldn't have had to break it all up. Maybe they'd have had to anyway, but I feel like I could have done a little more personally to keep them local. Ah well, nothing to be done now.

Nestled along the banks of the Dan River, Anglers Park is a lush retreat that beckons outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Just a short drive from the Mansion on Main, this park features a convenient boat ramp for those looking to enjoy some time on the water. For land adventurers, there are well-maintained walking and biking trails that meander through picturesque landscapes, offering stunning views of both the river and its natural surroundings.
Amazing trails and views, but be cautious about getting lost. The trail markers aren't very good, and if you don't pay attention, you could get lost if you are unfamiliar. Being from Florida, this was an amazing change in scenery, and I had an absolute blast by myself running the trails.

Great variety of trail, rugged goodness. Red trail is pretty tough, and I rode green and blue the days before and that helped a bunch getting the lay of the land first. Took a couple times to understand the signage. Would recommend if you’re into some technical mountain biking!

Great place to hike, mountain bike, or just stroll with your dog! There are no playgrounds but there is a nice picnic shelter that can be rented out for events. There is a boat dock that grants access to the Dan River. Restrooms are provided but they're a bit "rugged."

My brother and i ALWAYS have a blast here at Anglers. The trails are well maintained, the new rock garden is amazing as well! Just wish there was maybe a jump line and some smaller drops than the "Leap of faith" (which we will hit some day)! Thanks for everything and all the hard work that goes into them! So nice to have some local trails!

Anglers Park is definitely the holy grail for local biking, hiking, jogging and walking. There are so many trails to explore. The trails are labeled well and are well taking care of. There is also a paved trail which provides an amazing scenic bike ride or walk. Anglers Park also has a nice soccer field and picnic area!

This park was nice. It was clean. We were a little disappointed that outside of the boat ramp area we could not get a very good view of the river as the brush was so overgrown. We did walk the trail a few miles and came across this little guy. We think it may have been an Otter but not sure.

Paved paths for bikers, hikers, and horses. When my wife and I went it was muddy. The Dan river must over flow quite often. The path was paved, but covered with mud in many places. It goes along the river, passes The Danville Braves baseball stadium, the Veterans Memorial and goes under a highway. The concrete bridge had been washed away. We had to turn around. It is in a urban slightly run down area of Danville VA.

Well-maintained and paved trail that's around 10 miles long. Mostly flat, but at each end there's an optional 100 ft hill to climb - on the east-side just past Anglers Park and on the west-side climbing into Ballou Park. Good navigation signs and maps, so it's hard to get lost. For some odd reason (property-rights issue, I'm guessing), near the west end there's a short, narrow dirt portion that goes behind one industrial lot. Just west of that section, take a right on Commerce St, then quick left on Trade St to re-join the trail in a few blocks (otherwise, the main trail appears to dead-end a few blocks west of Commerce St). Along the way, there are lots of great views of the Dan River, two dams, parks, Ghost Tree Island, former textile mills and tobacco warehouses. If you start south of the river in the downtown warehouse district, you can cross the river to the north side on an old train bridge. Then, after your ride/walk you can catch a meal or drink at one of several downtown restaurants or pubs.

Poorly maintained trail system, although they've got the right idea. Mountain bike trail system is nice to have in a City park, but trails do nothing but double back on themselves. They really jammed some mileage into a tiny space. Tires and trash in all of the drainage areas.

Casino
Caesars Virginia in Danville is making waves as a fresh addition to the casino scene, particularly with its impressive World Series of Poker Poker Room. Spanning 4,900 square feet and featuring 21 custom poker tables, it promises an exceptional experience for players. The staff at Caesars Virginia truly elevate the visit; they are not only attentive but also remember guests' names and preferences after just one introduction. This personal touch creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes visitors feel valued.
It was my first time there and it was great. A couple of friends surprised me with a spa day and it was so nice, I would highly recommend the whole package. Its a very nice hotel, and the rooms are well equipped with everything you need and the beds slept so good. The casino is really nice and there's multiple places to get food. Everyone we had contact with was friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The only thing I can rate not great was the burgers at three stacks, they definitely didn't look like they do on the pictures and I would have to compare them to basically a regular fast food burger, which is not what we were expecting and for the money. But overall it's a great place and we had a wonderful time and I really enjoyed my birthday there.
CRMc — Google review
My wife and I went for the first time and stayed overnight as it is a four hour ride for us. The hotel and casino is beautiful and very clean. There is not much in the area to see or do. The disappointment we had was there is only one restaurant to sit in and have a nice meal (Gordon Ramsey), the other choices are basically fast food in a some what food court. There is absolutely no shopping like in Cherokee. The casino is a smoking casino, we did not see a non-smoking area. They claim to have an ultra ventilation system, but the smell of smoke is still there. Every slot machine had an ash tray on it. There is a variety of slots however, the max bet on most machines is $6 and more, going through your money quickly. In Cherokee there are slots with max bets of $1.50, $3.00 and above to choose from. Very few machines around the casino area to cash your ticket out. Cherokee is a 6 hour ride for us and I would rather travel the 6 hours, as for my money Cherokee is far more superior. Although we enjoyed ourselves, we will not be going back.

10/1/2025 While making our way across the main level parking deck, a man was urinating about 40 feet from the casino entrance. I told one of the security people and he mumbled something then went on with his job (whatever that is). I then reported the incident to the desk person who said security can't leave their post. So, if you have an issue outside the casino who do you call-Ghost Busters? Completely ruined the start of our visit. The players aren't much better. They look and talk like locals that straggled in because it's better than going to a mall. One person was on a Dragon Link slot for (4) hrs doing a one dollar bet. If more people like him did the same thing then the slots would be taken over by squatters. Been going to Cherokee for years but it's 3.5 hours vs one hour to Danville. I'm (71) years old and the drive through the mountains is a little much. But, we usually stay for (2) days so it makes the trip up and back more tolerable. We had a room booked @ Danville this time for (2) days and requested that we be on a floor as close to the game room as possible because my (90) year old Mom has to use a walker, we were put on the 9th floor. The carpet didn't look like it had been vacuumed either. We played (15) different slots with max bets on most and won $400 with an investment of $2,000. Cherokee blows this place away.
Ned W — Google review
Been here twice now. Once for a concert and a little slot machine fun and 2nd time for an overnight stay, dessert at GR and casino time. The smoke was noticeable, but not super bad. Ultimately I give the 4 stars because this was the only issue. The dealers at the tables were so much fun! Definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay here! 🤩 🤞🏻It’s kinda in the middle of no where, so don’t be too excited to explore anything other then the casino lol… once the town builds up from the casino being here hopefully it will improve. The hotel is NEW and sparkling ✨ clean areas! AMAZING STAFF! All so kinda and polite! 🥰 A great selection of games - slots, poker, table games🎰♠️♥️♣️♦️ Concise restaurant choices!🍔🍜🥩☕️ Gordon Ramsey being the best option! 🏊🏻‍♀️Pool is small and could be better… like if I had a bar and a mirror image of another pool on the opposite side! Beds are comfy and have amble pillows!🛌🥱 Overall a wonderful experience but I might be picky because, I wish they had more shops inside like most Cesar’s locations have… (only one small gift shop)…I’m just used to and was excited to see a fancy shop or two as well as a gelato or something! 🛍️🍨

Went here for a concert. Looked into a room for the night, super expensive! Didn't stay here. Nice and new casino, on the smaller side. Had Ramsey Kitchen there and a few other places to eat. Concert venue: Pantheon, you CANNOT BUY TICKETS AT BOX OFFICE. We looked into info about buying tickets day of, Google AI said opens at 10am. Tried calling, i believe and message said the same thing. Anyways, don't go there thinking your going to buy a ticket for event. Because you can't, only thru ticketmaster. Seating at Pantheon, floor seating, not staggered, or stadium. However the seats on risers in back were great, padded on risers. Really good seats and view was good! There are some cute places to eat in town, nice walking path by the river.
Karen R — Google review
I don’t know anything about the gambling, rooms or real amenities besides the Pantheon. I went to see JBLZE play. Which the venue is great. Comfortable seating. Great sound. You can bring food and drinks within the venue. I loved the size because it made it feel like a private concert instead of in an arena or stadium with thousands of fans. The casino is almost in the middle of nowhere but it brings jobs to the local community. You can obviously smoke in the casino but not the venue. I will definitely be back to see more shows.
Jason G — Google review
The interior is beautiful! The hotel is very nice. The casino is pretty, but unless you are a smoker it can be overwhelming. There are ash trays on every machine. Not a lot of food options. No self serve drinks, however you can order them from your machine if you are willing to wait up to 30 minutes for it to be served.

Nice playground for the kids to play with obstacles, swings and rock climbing. The restrooms were open for weekday but little dirty and no hand soap. Plenty of parking space and many other amenities from skating area to fields. Did a nice walk around the fields with my baby on stroller. It was a great find to stretch ourselves and kids to enjoy the playground.

This is a fun playground. It's big, it has 2 sections separated by a climable rock wall, one section is for the little kids, easier to maneuver and lower to the ground. The other is for the bigger kids, most of the pics I've posted are from the big kids side. During school hours it's not busy and your little ones get a chance to really explore without getting bowled over by excited bigger kids. They have a few sensory pieces here, but Ballou Park playground is much better for that sort of thing. All the sports field surround this playground. There is parking on both sides of the playground.

It's a beautiful, scenic park with a very nice riverwalk path. The park is well-maintained, although it seems warmer weather is bringing out the litterbugs as well as other insects. Birding is great here, with benches all along the riverwalk to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of warblers and others flitting through the trees. I haven't really had time to explore the more wooded areas but overall, this is a wonderful park!

Yes I highly recommend Dan Daniels memorial Park the number one reason is because my wife and I have a great grandbaby and we like to use shelter number 17 cuz it's very close to the restrooms and it's kind of hard for both of us to walk long distances. And it is only $50 a day and if you clean up like a normal human being you get your $50 back you can't beat that in the park has a baseball stadium a skateboard and it has a whole playground for children it has a walk around for people that likes to walk a lot if you have never been I suggest you come on down 😁 we love EVERYONE heck our STATE SIGN SAYS "VIRGINIA IS FOR LOVERS"

Spur of the moment decision to attend an Otterbots game. Got there about 45 minutes early and parking was already more than half full. Park was nice. Seats do not have much legroom. Entertainment was good during the game. Food choices were pretty good for a smaller venue. Scotter Dog was nice, fries were a little heavy on the spices. Noticed they had "runners" available who would go get food orders for you - at least for the reserved seating. Definitely a good value for a fun night out.

Great park, very clean and family friendly, our dog even had a great time. The park has some sneezing views to be scene, there's even a skate park there... We enjoyed a picnic lunch under the pavilion by the children's park, the children played on the playground and I played guitar to my wife as she sang pleasantries to the passer bys... And the to cat quoth,"Nevermore..." Also you can pay respect to do the brave Virginia man and women who died and in which war...

My husband, myself and youngest son went to a magic show at the Historic North Theatre. The magician Wayne Alan is very entertaining and we really enjoyed the show. This was a great family friendly event. If you get the chance to attend , you should definitely do so.

Went to see ABBA Nova the ABBA tribute band. Had such a great time. The musicians were so talented. The owner of the theater is very kind. I could tell it was a labor of love.

This is a local treasure! A theater from 1943 that has been lovingly restored by a world renowned illusionist who fell in love with the crumbling theater and the old mill town that was her home. The most recent performance was the Moscow ballet presenting the timeless Nutcracker to a sold out crowd. Perfect combination of history and art. Well done!!

Attended Menopause the Musical at the North Theatre last night with 8 friends and had a magnificent time. The play was hysterically funny, the music and sound system outstanding and Wayne was there to greet everyone! Kudos to Wayne Alan for bringing such a great show to our smaller town. Would love to see again!

Went there recently on a trip home to visit family. The theater has been restored wonderfully to the period that I remember it from in the 60's. They are a big part of the revitalization of North Main Hill which I never thought I would see turned around in my life time. Please support the theater and what they are doing for Danville.

We went to a comedy show here with a magic a t & 3 stand up comedians... it was hilarious. Loved it to death. The short magic part was my favorite. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars was because we were parked in their parking lot and STILL managed to get hit by another car. It was a hit and run with no cameras. Not their fault but I would expect better security from this type of establishment.

It is ran by a kind man. The place was clean and they put on a wonderful show

Nice little museum about the Langhorne family. Rotating exhibits and a small gift shop. Free admission. Only open 2-5 om Saturday. In spite of the $ pin on the map, this is not a bank nor is there an admission fee.

This is an excellent place to take your children especially if you’re looking for somewhere to go locally. I’m happy that I found a gem right in the midst of Danville,Va. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself. He is 4 years old. I loved the fact that we went on a Saturday night and it wasn’t too crowded (especially with bigger kids that can sometimes play a little rough, sometimes that’s typical at places like this). It was enough kids where it was fun and not dangerous. We both left with a smile. Also I noticed that many people including my son and I actually won prizes from their game machines which is a plus (we all know how those machines can be). The food and snacks are affordable. I was skeptical about the $3 pizza, but it was actually good. Not only is the food affordable, it wasn’t costly to enter or play the games either. I highly recommend this facility.

This place is a great place to take your kids. 3 and under is $5. 4 and up is $10. Not just that the staff is very talented. Me and my family had the pleasure of watching one of the staff members restitch the bounce houses. She explained why it had to be done. She also explained that is regular maintenance for bounce houses. This happened on October 13th. It was an absolutely One of a Kind interaction on how things are done to maintain safety in this bounce house. It was absolutely fascinating for me and my children.

We really wanted this place to work for us since it’s the only place that can accommodate a decent sized birthday party. When you have children who celebrate winter birthdays, it’s tough since you can’t be outside. We felt like we needed to pour sanitizer over ourselves every 10 minutes, not to mention the poor shape of the bounce houses. One of my kids had a deep scrape on her back from a ripped piece of the big slide. Most of the game machines are outdated and work occasionally. I hope they put more effort into cleanliness and updates. It definitely has potential if they do.

What a wonderful place to bring a family! My girls love coming here! It’s always super clean and all the houses are amazingly well maintained. The staff is wonderful! Every time we go in they greet my kids and make them feel welcome and special. Great variety of bounce houses for the girls to play on and work all that energy out

This place is AMAZING. We visited with our two children and they had so much fun, we decided to plan our 8 year old's birthday party there. It ended up being such a great party. She said several times, "That was the best birthday party I've ever had." That's what every parent hopes to hear after each party planned. That their child had a good and memorable day. Now our youngest wants to have her next party there as well. Can't wait to make her day just as special. ❤

This is an excellent place, I had my son's first birthday party here they made my experience and his birthday party amazing. My kids love the screaming slide. The staff are very friendly and I would recommend this place.

Great place for kids to have fun and burn energy. We took our 6 year old Felix and he had a great time. The equipment is clean . The people are friendly.

Dirty and most of the machines in the game room are inop. Seriously, you guys should shut your doors and do a deep cleaning. I will not be bringing my kids back until then.

This is a great little spot in downtown Danville! It's located next to The Bee Hotel, but it's open to the public! It has comfortable chairs for relaxing and a few tables with chairs. There is a nice water feature. I was impressed that there is even an elevator, which makes it accessible to everyone!
N W — Google review
I was very excited to visit the Pocket Park on Union St. I'd seen a lot of pictures and it looked like a nice place to just relax and sip coffee with my husband. I knew from publicity for the park that, even though it is below street level, that is was handicap accessible by way of elevator. I was so disappointed to find the elevator locked. The park really does look like a charming place and a great use of space. I took a few pictures from the entrance but was unable to actually enter the park after driving over specifically for this purpose. I have physical limitations that do not allow me to climb many stairs. I hope whoever is maintaining the park will consider leaving the elevator unlocked so the park is truly accessible to all. I know of other localities with public, outdoor elevators that do leave them open for use.
Rebecca W — Google review
I don't understand why the lift isn't adhering to ADA laws. It must be operable by the person using it and is not allowed to require a key to be retrieved to use it.
Eric F — Google review
No grass, no publi restrooms as far as I could tell, limited sunshine, Only service animals allowed.
