The Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site and Museum is a well-preserved museum that showcases the history and equipment of maritime rescue. It was once part of the historic Life Saving Service stations, which protected the Outer Banks shores and passing ships. The main building houses a museum and gift shop, while outbuildings include crews' quarters, kitchen, and original storage stocked with antique rescue equipment.
We stopped by here while visiting the Outer Banks for the first time this September. We had a wonderful experience. I wish I had gotten her name but the woman working there was so informative not only on the lifesaving station history but on the community history as well. The history is fascinating and it was nice to walk around and explore the grounds and buildings. It prompted us to go explore the nearby Oregon Inlet Station as well, which is currently closed up but beautiful. I purchased a few books there and am starting to learn more about the history of the Lifesaving Stations as well as the Coastguard and Carolina shipwrecks. Would definitely recommend a stop if you are visiting the area.

Amazing history of the Life Saving Station history. It had to take alot of moxie to get in a wooden boat and save those people. Very informative and displays were great.

This was a wonderful place to visit while vacationing on Hatteras Island. We drove 30 miles to visit, and it was worth it! There's so much history preserved and presented in a wonderful way. There is an entry fee. It's a self-guided tour starting with a video and a brochure full of facts about the different sections of the museum.
Janet S — Google review
Looks very promising. Unfortunately, they're not open on weekends. We walked around a bit and took some pictures. I looked up the history and the story's behind it, and it sounds like a good reason to come back.
Lorna C — Google review
This lifesaving station is a MUST stop! Spend 1-3 hours there depending on how deep you want to go. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and the exhibits are good. This place documents the important history of the lifesaving service along the Atlantic coast, which eventually became the US Coast Guard. the kids will entire the view from the top of the building!
Mike L — Google review
We landed up here on a whim, and ended up in a field trip with an group of 4th graders. Not only was the tour super educational and entertaining, but it felt good to feel like I was on a field trip again. Lol. This place is definitely worth checking out. I'm just bummed that I didn't pick up one of the local books!
Chrissy E — Google review
This place is beautiful and full of historical significance. We we're lucky enough to catch a drill reinactment and it was so neat! They are on Thursdays at 2pm definitely something to check out. The artifact and old life saving gear are fascinating, as well. The view from the tower is like none other. This site is $8 well spent.
Jess A — Google review
So cool. I wish I could have seen the drills they run on the beach, but I wasn't able to come back the following day. Learn about the USLSS (Life Saving Service) and the Revenue Cutter Service, predecessor to the US Coast Gaurd.

Rodanthe Pier Place is a must-visit spot in the laid-back town of Rodanthe, offering a great opportunity for fishing and leisurely walks. The pier is just a short distance from Buxton, where the famous Hatteras Island Lighthouse stands. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as surfing and kayaking in nearby Kitty Hawk. The pier provides an excellent fishing experience with no license required, and visitors can also rent fishing poles.
Great spot to fish! The staff is nice and knowledgeable and you cant beat the great view. Music on Friday nights is fun and the drink/snack prices are very reasonable.
Chris D — Google review
Really nice pier for quality fishing. Good little gift shop. Nice views. Costs 2 bucks to go out. Parking said it was 15 bucks. I didn’t see where to pay, and no one bothered us. That might have been because it was the off season, though.
Jason M — Google review
Beautiful blue water, amazingly nice locals, and views that'll be in my memory bank for a lifetime.
Brittany M — Google review
Fun pier - $2/person entry fee which was annoying. Wind and water were too crazy to enjoy it, but I can see the allure. Lots of people fishing. Store attached has a bathroom and sells the necessities, (lures, ice, beer, drinks, etc).
John B — Google review
Found this pier by accident and so glad that I did. The only pier that is very welcoming of dogs and overall had a friendly atmosphere by both the people running it and those also on the pier. The views were great and a lot of benches for both those who want to fish or just enjoy the ocean. The price to walk out on the pier was about $2, which is a lot less considering what some of the other piers cost. Only thing that I would mention is that the parking lot could use better maintenance, but overall it is a great place for a quick visit and an out of the way spot.
Esther-Rose M — Google review
Cool pier, friendly people, dog friendly. Easy parking also.
Jul T — Google review
Excellent pier was just 4 mins from the place we rented. Will be back next year when we come back to OBX again for vacation. One day of catch included sheepshead, pin fish, red drum, black drum, blow toad. Good variety. Wait for mackerels to come and they can be caught on this pier as well. Staff was nice and friendly. Side joke if he reads this review "squish". I highly recommend not skipping this pier if your in the area.
Joseph S — Google review
This is a really wonderful beach and you could walk for a long time, it's good for finding small seashells I love coming in the morning or evening just after sunrise or before sunset because you can see a lot of little crabs going across the sand. The crabs are on the beach all the time but it's the easiest to see them when you can see their shadow. Depending on when you go you'll see washed up jelly fish too. I once found a large, whole conch shell too

Coffee shop
Waves Coffee & Candies is a charming spot located in Rodanthe, a historic town on Hatteras Island. This area is renowned for its watersports and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The café is known for its delicious iced coffee and sweets, drawing both locals and visitors alike. Customers rave about the friendly staff who provide helpful tips on local activities and attractions.
This is a nice little place to stop. Their coffee is good and pastries are great. They have a nice gift shop with unique coffee cups for sale.
Josiah M — Google review
We stopped in specifically to try the cinnamon rolls, based on other reviews, and they did not disappoint! I also ordered an Iced Caramel Latte, and it was so good! That is one of my go-to orders, and they can start to taste the same, no matter which cafe you go to, but there was something different and unique about their latte! Definitely would stop in again!
Lydia E — Google review
Stopped here for coffee and snacks. Little cute shop just at the corner of the building. Got my chai latte which was good. Scone was amazing, soft and delicious. Muffins were good too. Shop is conveniently located next main road in a shopping center. Plenty of parking. It was a long weekend so lots of people getting their caffeine fix. One person was managing the orders and making them so it took a little longer which I expected.
Deepak P — Google review
Omg it was so good! I wish I got photos of the place. Its a candy and gift shop too. It was a great first stop to stock up on snacks before hitting the road. The bagel sandwiches were delicious and just what the doctor ordered. The coffee was fresh and tasty!
Daegan — Google review
The baked good were soooooo good and the cinnamon rolls were soo big!! Cool store also! And awesome owner !
Gabby H — Google review
This was the best coffee place we tried on our trip. The women at the counter were very attentive and kind, recommended drinks for us and were very knowledgeable. My wife and 7 year old son both had their Mermaid Matcha frozen drink more than once and loved it. I had a vanilla latte and it was fantastic. Highly recommend trying them.
Jason S — Google review
I would have given it 5 stars for the coffee. I got a cold brew and it was delicious. However I asked for a tiny bit of water in a cup for my 2 year old and they said it would cost me $1.50 for that. As a paying customer, asking for a tiny bit of water for a young child, that's ridiculous. If they had said 25¢ for the cost of the cup okay fine, but a dollar fifty for a splash of tap water, I'd call that poor customer service.
Melissa H — Google review
The owner was so kind, cheerful, and overall just great to talk with every morning while we are on vacation. Her staff was just as great!! The coffee was amazing and the pastries were delicious!!! I wish they could clone and open in MD!!

Children's camp
Rodanthe Watersports and Campground is a perfect destination for watersports enthusiasts. The soundfront campground offers stunning sunsets and easy access to warm, shallow waters, ideal for activities like windsurfing, kiteboarding, and kayaking. Visitors can bring their RV or tent and enjoy discounted rentals on watersports equipment. The campground also provides lessons for beginners at affordable rates.
Awesome family owned campground! It’s a great environment, bathrooms are kept really nice, and the outdoor showers are super relaxing. Surfboard Rentals are pretty inexpensive and you get a 20% discount if you’re staying there. The standard tent sites with a fire-pit are definitely big enough for comfort and/or two medium sized tents. The campsite is about a straight 5ish minute walk from the Atlantic, but the path goes to the pier which is a solid spot for surfing/fishing. Highly recommend we had a blast
Rhett M — Google review
Beautiful, small campground on the sound. Beautiful sunsets and lots of opportunities to have fun on the sound. Nice place for families to take small children into the shallow water to swim!
Sherry S — Google review
The site was awesome right on the water( sound side)! Danny the girl at the outdoor check in was awesome so sweet and helpful! Everyone laid back and very nice fellow campers! The camp ground is small but very nice. Has indoor and outdoor showers. The bathhouse was small but nice Had everything we needed! Thanks Rodanthe Watersports and Campground!
Ralph D — Google review
Can’t get closer to the water than the waterfront RV sites here. Plus you can rent surfboards, paddle boards, bicycles, etc. Restrooms are clean (but no AC) and outdoor showers are also available. The two hammocks hanging over the water are heavenly! The beach is a bit of a hike but worth it. This is a very laid-back, no frills place, just the way we like it! Plenty of restaurant choices nearby.
Jani P — Google review
BEST CAMPRGOUND! We had an absolutely phenomenal stay!! Beautiful views of the sound, beautiful sunsets, the bathhouse and outdoor showers were very clean and cute! Campground is right next to a pizza shop, the ocean and beach access is a quick walk down the road, as well as stores for anything you would need. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. 10/10
Sarah P — Google review
Beautiful view and amazing customer service. The owner/staff are absolutely amazing people. This is the fourth year going here. We will continue to come here year after year. I recommend everyone to come here.

BEADS & BEANS OBX is a laid-back, quick-service spot that offers a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, as well as smoothies and baked goods. Located in the Tri-villages of Hatteras Island, this coffee house also functions as a working studio.
We loved our quick trip to Beads & Beans! Friendly staff and their wide variety menus for coffee, pastries and other things are sure to please everyone who stops in. We loved the iced caramel macchiato and the Carmel coconut latte. But, the star of the show was the warm apple fritter. I should’ve ordered more than one!! This place also has other creations made by them, like their hand poured candles and other trinkets!
Amber M — Google review
This is the place to get coffee with sense of humor. The coffee & pastries were delicious, the prices were very reasonable (especially in a resort town), and the service was wonderful! What more can you ask from a coffee shop? Oh, you would also ask for an adorable gift shop? Well, you can have that too!
Meghan U — Google review
What a cute find! We stopped on our way out of town and grabbed a couple of chais and some pastries. The homemade poptart is CRAZY good & bigger than your hand! The staff was super friendly and we loved the little shop -- lots of cute gifts. ALSO, LOVED the LOVE and Pride flags! :)
Amy F — Google review
I recently spent a week in Rodanthe, and a lot could be said about how the town in general is such a serene setting for a relaxing and needed beach retreat. However, one stand out is this quaint little coffee shop, from their delicious morning pick me ups to the fabulous pastries they offer to pair with them, and hey if coffee isn't your thing they have many and more options for you. They also have a ton of interesting and unique souvenirs you can pick up for your friends or loved ones back home, or if you are like me grab a sticker to remember the little things from vacation that made it all the more special. In a world where we have Starbucks on every corner, except in Rodanthe, this place was not only refreshing but on par. With all that said the best aspect needs to be mentioned...the service. Not only were they friendly and polite they quickly remembered weekly once a season regulars, which added so much to the overall feel of the place. I plan to visit the Outer Banks again and one thing I will look forward to other than the sound of waves or the feel of sand is Beads & Beans.
Ryan T — Google review
Visiting the OBX for the first time and saw this place on my first day. It wasn't open for the first few days but it was posted when they open back up. I read good reviews and bad reviews with all the bad reviews saying they had issues with rudeness and staff service. Me and my husband went around 10:30 and it was already very crowde. I had a pleasant experience, the shop was pretty busy and we were met with kindness and I didn't feel rushed at all. We each got a spinach feta croissant and I got a mocha, both things were delicious. Wish I could've seen the bead portion but that didn't ruin my experience.
Chelsey H — Google review
Stopped in a couple times on our trip to Rodanthe. Coffee, pastries, and breakfast pizza that we tried were all delicious. The owner was so nice and very laid back. We had caramel macchiato, cardamom caramel latte, coffee cake, raspberry coffee cake, cinnamon rolls 🤤, and sausage gravy hash brown pizza. Menu varies and is posted daily to their Facebook.
Sarah H — Google review
I have been coming here every day of the week of my vacation and the Matcha is spectacular! I got an apple fritter today and it was so warm and delicious. The lady behind the counter is so kind and make you feel welcome! Great place and will be back next year

Restaurant
Neptune's Kitchen and Dive Bar is a dog-friendly restaurant located in Rodanthe, NC, offering a great view of the sunset and occasional live music from its outdoor deck. The menu features sautéed mussels, loaded nachos with beef, seafood platters, steamers, sandwiches, entrees, and more. Visitors can enjoy cold beer while listening to live music outdoors every week. This waterfront spot is perfect for those looking for delicious food and entertainment in a scenic setting.
We always travel to the Outer Banks in a large group. Every year, we find a restaurant and have one final night meal. This time, we ended up at Neptune's. It wasn't without an adventure though 🥴 We went to two other restaurants, neither of which were accommodating for our group (one of whom is temporarily handicapped, which sadly is why we had issues with 2 restaurants before this one). For starters, Camilla (I hope I have her name correct) was attentive right off the bat. Noticing our large table, she came right over for our drink orders. We were annoying, we were particular, and we of course had to tell her about how we were breaking up the checks. This was a non issue for her. We got our drinks quickly, and our appetizers were right behind it. The second she saw I liked the house made ranch, she brought me 3 more (with to go lids!!!!) When we got our meals, we were already dang near full from our SHARED appetizers. 4 bites from my AMAZING chicken sandwich, and I couldn't hang anymore. My husband had the fish po boy and shrimpies. My friends had the cheesesteak, burger, fish tacos, fried fish and chips (BTW the fried fish is straight up flounder), crab legs, and.... I dunno what else. But I gotta say, my snobby seafood eating friends were floored with how amazing everything was. Which, is very much a compliment. Before we left, we had to bug Camilla to take our group photo. She happily obliged, and out the door we went. Too long, didn't read: GO HERE. the staff rocks, the food rocks and the drinks are amazing. We can't wait to visit again.
Chrissy E — Google review
The food and service was great! There was some food people watching too! The Philly cheesesteak was delicious as was the brownie a la mode. Our waitress was super sweet!
Rachel C — Google review
First the positives… Nice waterfront location with outdoor seating. Decent amount of parking available. Hostess and wait/bar staff were super friendly and put forth effort. Negatives… We waited for ~45 minutes for a table (arrived 7p) which we expected. When seated we waited ~1.5 hours for food. When the food arrived just before closing time the fried oysters were squishy (even after sent back 1x), the fries were all cold, the tacos and burgers were cold and the cheesesteak sandwiches were cold and dry. Our waitress was communicative and apologetic. We learned the owner/manager WAS onsite but he never came over to apologize/assist. He got his food and was enjoying his meal while his patrons were left waiting or eating cold food. Avoid this place unless you want a beer and view only.
Jeannie G — Google review
Just got done having dinner with our 4 kids (ages 4-10). Very kid friendly! Food was absolutely amazing!!! Gotta try the cheese curds with caramel! Oh and the Bavarian pretzel is the largest I have ever seen!
Anthony M — Google review
I first off want to say I appreciate the host/bartender who tried their hardest to incorporate our group of 8 into their busy restaurant. We were given an estimate of 45minutes-1hour wait, which was okay it’s Memorial Day weekend. We were sat after 1 hour & 30ish minutes. (We got there at 6:35 and were sat near 8). We understood it would most likely be busy bc of the holiday and it being the beginning of summer, but they were totally unprepared. Our food took at least 1 hour to come, and some of it seemed to be “squishy”, which means it was probably sitting out for a little while. My cousin got the mac n cheese bites (which came out last) and they seemed to be craft Mac n cheese fried for $10. After we ordered we were then notified that they were out of tacos and wings. The chicken tenders were soft and not crispy, and came with very few fries. If I were you I’d order the mozzarella sticks or steamed shrimp, because that’s what we ended up sharing. As we were paying they then made us aware that there’s a $10 credit card fee, so remember to bring cash. Our check was $250. I’d 99.9% say that’s not worth the service or the food we received. We are pretty disappointed.
Abby P — Google review
Amazing, amazing, amazing!! If you are looking for a down home feel, friendly staff, and great food this is your stop! Great drinks and staff that makes you feel like regulars even if you're only here for a week. Shrimp were Fantastic! Steamed muscled, full of flavor! Mahi tacos, on a fresh corn tortilla, so light and filling! We will definitelybe back to visit this place anytime we are in the area!!
Cami R — Google review
We ended up here for dinner tonight after failing to get in at a couple other places. We were not disappointed. We encountered a short wait upon entering and our ears were greeted with live music with Saxophone. Overall the atmosphere was fun and enjoyable. The food was excellent and flavorful. We started with the crab soup which was fantastic. We moved on to the blackened Mahi tacos, fried shrimp and calamari, and the shrimp basket. All of the was tasty, we enjoyed every bite. Stop by and have a drink and enjoy the music. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in OBX.
Gordon L — Google review
I ordered a pound of crab legs for $40. They brought me two small clusters. I've ate crab legs many times in my life, I know the difference between a 1/2 and a pound. I asked the waitress if there was a mixup with the order and she said no that's what their pound is. The crab legs were overcooked, half of them were shriveled up when I cracked them open. The next night, I went to Good Winds down the road and ordered a pound. I received four very large clusters, perfectly cooked. Don't waste your money at Neptune's.

At Kitty Hawk Kites, Stunt Kiting Lessons offer a fantastic opportunity for couples to embark on an exciting new adventure together. You can experience the thrill of flying high-performance kites while reconnecting with nature and enjoying the fresh air. With guidance from an experienced instructor, you’ll master the techniques needed to fly kites like a pro, making it a memorable outing that combines fun and skill-building in the great outdoors.
Good little stop that’s a higher end more surf shop version of the standard beach shops. Had lots of cool things, gear, and kites. Must stop if you need anything over Super Wings, as Kitty Hawk Kites actually carried real brands, though you pay the price for it. Worth it to me though.

Good Winds Restaurant is a casual dining spot located on the second floor of a building, offering water views and serving a variety of dishes including seafood, American, and Asian specialties. The restaurant provides a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that the food arrives quickly, hot, and fresh. The spacious seating area accommodates all guests comfortably, with elevator or stair access available.
This was the highest quality restaurant experience I’ve had in many years. Came on a date with my wife for the bourbon, beer and wine festival in April. The views of course are spectacular. But the restaurant is family run and they know how to take care of you. Great recommendations and brutally honest about their dishes and what goes together. The Puerto Rican queen snapper was the tastiest bite. But the rib tips were amazing as well. So many different things worked. And the service was superb. I will be coming back and I live in Phoenix with no plans of coming to North Carolina but I want to experience that food and that service again.

My wife and I were camping at Camp Hatteras and our daughter picked Good Winds. We arrived in the early evening and were seated promptly. After a Quick Look at the menu, I ordered Fish Taco’s and Mac N Cheese and my wife ordered the Good Winds burger. We both enjoyed our meals without issue. The weather wasn’t great so we didn’t get to enjoy the patio though being seated on the patio as the sun went down would be amazing. The staff friendly and helpful without over doing it. Overall, Good Winds was an enjoyable experience that we would repeat as well as recommend.
Ralph F — Google review
We came during off season, about a week ago and have no complaints. Our server was fantastic and brought out all our food hot and drinks fresh. The sea crab soup was not creamy like what I’m used to from living in South Carolina for a bit. The fish though, fantastic and fresh! It was recommended that I get the fish tacos but honestly, the fresh fried group was much better. The coleslaw is made in house and was a nice side to have too. The patio isn’t huge so it’d be hard to sit a large group outside but for us (4 people) it was perfect This was a kid free trip so I’m not sure if they have kid meals - it was kid friendly though! Lastly, our waitress recommended Alex’s seafood market. A great recommendation! We’ll be back if we’re ever in OBX again!

We had Lauren as our server and she was fantastic!!! We had crab and artichoke dip. Then Mahi Mahi tacos and a butterfly shrimp in a Ceasars salad. The chef should get a raise, all cooked to perfection. Loved them all.

We stopped here unplanned with four teenage girls in tow. The wait wasn’t too long. The food was great. The service was even better. We ate outside, and the views were spectacular. Everyone had a great experience, and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.

My significant other and I traveled out of town for the weekend and decided to get takeout for dinner. We got raw Oysters Crabcake sandwich with tots, Tuna sandwich with cucumber salad, Sea Crab soup and Key Lime Pie and the bill was $101. However, let me not forget to mention they charged a $18.00 to go fee which they forgot to mention on the phone when I called. You would expect really good food right! Apparently they need lessons on Oysters, the Crab ran out of the soup. The Crabcake and Tuna were good but they could have left the bread off! Cucumber salad was delicious but the tots, well they should take those off the menu. To end on a good note the Key Lime Pie made our hearts happy! We both are foodies and felt less than satisfied! Don’t like to complain but with that bill the food should have reflected better flavor! Thanks

Good Winds, Good Views, Crappy Food, Over Priced. Like other reviewers iI was underwhelmed after my first visit years ago but tried a second time hoping things might have improved. Just as bad as the first time. Got the Seaside Cobb salad that boasted a “medley of Crab, Shrimp and Lobster” What I got was an unidentifiable ball of red goo that looked like it had been in a blender for an hour. Nothing that remotely resembled seafood, just stringy pieces of goo. The Avocado in the salad was like pieces of rock and completely inedible. I ask the waiter about getting some different pieces but he laughed and said they would all be the same. On my other regretful visit to Good Winds I got the seafood enchiladas described as “homemade shrimp and chicken enchiladas in a tasty cream sauce” I got two small chicken tortillas in a tasteless cream soupy mess with four small to medium shrimp on top of them. This is a gotcha place that just doesn’t care and feeds off of unsuspecting people because it’s one of the few restaurants left in the tri-villages. Fool me once fool me twice like another reviewer said. Do yourself a favor and skip this hole and go to Waterman’s Grill. Great food and great views and nice people that care. Joe, why did you have to retire and close Top Dog ? We miss you

Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding School, founded by hang gliding pioneer John Harris, offers thrilling experiences in the air and on the water at various Outer Banks locations. From kiteboarding and parasailing to kayaking and boat tours, they provide a range of watersports activities in the Atlantic and Pamlico Sound. Additionally, they offer equipment rentals for beach gear, bikes, jet skis, and pontoon boats.
My second trip to Cape Hatters and with Kitty Hawk, loved it so much, will be back again. Staff is so great, lessons are so much fun. Spencer was my instructor and 10/10. Steph was great at organizing the lessons.

This store has everything you need for your vacation in Outer Banks. High quality merchandise and reasonable prices. Staff is unbelievably helpful. Assistant Manager Leslie R. went out of her way to locate a pair of shoes at another store and shipped to our residence. She was very kind and efficient and is the epitome of the perfect employee. Kitty Hawk Kites is commended for having such a wonderful person working for them. Will definitely be back to shop and say hello. Thanks again Leslie!

Had a great day on the water Friday kiteboarding, thank you Kevin for two great lessons, thankful to get up so quickly and work on going up wind and a few transitions. Grateful we were able to use the jet ski in the afternoon (low water levels). Bummed the wind wasn't blowing Saturday and Sunday, only being in town 3 days stunk, thankful to get 2 of 4 lessons in. I had a great time, a great location for beginners. My other experience was in Long Beach, CA. That location was difficult with beach goers and the waves. While in Kitty Hawk, it was awesome to have the calmer and shallower waters and no other people to work around. Only issue is still waiting for a refund for the cancelled lessons (weather related).

Steph and the whole team were amazing! Welcoming, laid back, encouraging, flexible, and all around nice people. All 3 of my instructors worked hard to get me kite surfing by the end of the lessons. The 1:1 instruction lets you go at your own pace and feel safe the entire time. The gear was high quality and the walkie talkies built into the helmets were a game changer. They were super accommodating to help me get rescheduled around the weather to fit within my planned trip. Highly recommend these folks!

I lost my rubber wedding ring in the ocean so I was shop hopping looking for somthing to replace it with. I wasn't expecting the store to be so nice! So many t shirts that wouldn't be available at other typical souvenir shops like super wings. More on the pricey side but nice. I did find a simple ring there in the jewelry section.

Nestled in the heart of Hatteras Island, Lisa's Pizzeria has been a beloved local gem since 1986. This cozy eatery is renowned for its hand-tossed pizzas and a delightful array of Italian dishes, including calzones, lasagna, manicotti, and spaghetti. The menu also features hearty submarine sandwiches, wraps, and burgers that cater to all tastes.
Such a classic in the OBX for my wife and I. We first ate here in 2009 when we first met while working at the KOA just down the road as Summershiners. Not only did we fall in love with the area but Lisa's became one of our favorites back then. We recently got to take our son and my my mom out to Rodanthe and stopped by and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was still as good as ever. The food was great, service was great and atmosphere was your good ole typical beach style surf pizza joint, just like it should be. Highly recommend! Our only disappointment was they no longer had the broccoli bites they once served but our mozzarella sticks, salad and pizza were all top notch! Be sure to stop by!

Of the 4 items I got. Buffalo Chicken pizza. Polynesian Pizza. Cheese sticks. Fried Mushrooms. I rate a 37/40. Descriptions on menu could be more detailed. The sauce on the Polynesian was lacking. Other than that everything else was over the top. It was supper rush so I didn't deduct for having to wait. Restaurant is tiny so keep that in mind. I would come back again.
Ronald B — Google review
We ordered pick up. Service was prompt, and pizza was ready quickly. Text service to let you know pizza is ready was very convenient. Service at the pick-up counter was also prompt and very friendly. The pizza itself lacked flavor, in my opinion. The crust was fairly basic with not a lot of flavor. Sausage was also fairly bland. It's not a bad pizza, but I have had others I prefer more.
Brian W — Google review
This is the first time we have been to this restaurant The pizza was very delicious and our waitress, Logan, was awesome and very kind, she answered all our questions very nicely and perfectly. And the atmosphere was very calming and even though there was a lot of people it was still kind of calming, (maybe it was cause where we were seated). And I wish we can come here again. ❤️

Good pizza. Have had better. But have had much worse. Can’t complain. Had a cheese pizza and a margarita pizza. Really like the fresh basil they put on it. Wish it had more tomato. Over all good

We ordered takeout pizza. Excellent quality and very tasty. We ordered on a very busy night being it was a Friday night. The wait was 1h 20min but the staff did tell us before ordering. Worth the wait!! We got 2 pepperoni pizzas and 1 custom - all the toppings were fresh. Prices were average and what we expected. Excellent and will be back again!

Delicious, even when they're only doing take-out. Get their pizza, it'll be so freaking good, even on your couch. We're out of town like most people around here and they were so kind to us. Give them your money!

I was driving through this area and stopped to grab pizza for family. Nice local joint/ seems family owned. I am sure they have better pizza then the one I ordered. It felt a little doughie and they put jalapenos on it with the water I thinIt's good tho. We 8 it! No real complaints but nothing exceptional either.

Our family when here while visiting OBX. Was right after the hurricane, so most waters were closed, but we had a blast! GHOST CRAB hunting was exactly as exciting as we thought it would be!! We were the ONLY ones there for ghost crabs haha. Had the entire area to ourselves! It’s says “day access” but as long as ur not IN the water, police leave u be. Also, we saw a Sea Turtle site roped off…which was on my bucket list. Was too dark to get a pic unfortunately but I have my memories! Very important that u read the signs, going in and those put up ON the beach!! They’re there for safety. I would HIGHLY recommend Pea Island for ghost crabs haha hunting at night & for daytime swimming . Beach is maybe 200 ft walking distance from the parking lot…through the sand. No surprises in there thankfully haha. 10/10, would definitely recommend this location ! And yes, that’s me screaming in the video, where my kids and husband chased some crabs over to me to scare me when I wasn’t paying attention lol

Beautiful seaside wildlife refuge to watch a variety of birds. If you are lucky you can see pelicans along with terns and other seabirds. There is a pond full with turtles including snapping turtles. But the trails are bushy and don't forget to use bug spray. The people in the visitor center are really nice. However, the bathroom was kinda dark. If you are visiting in the weekends you might have to roam around for parking. The parking lot was not that big, and people who visit the nearby beach always park there.

North pond trail is awesome. Bring your binoculars or scopes to watch birds. We saw few big fishes jump out of water. Weather was nice. At the end of the trail there is an observation deck with some old viewing scopes. We saw a deer, bunch of turtles and various birds. Parking is very limited so we had to wait a bit to find a spot. There are restrooms there. Visitor’s center also has some binoculars and scopes you can use to view the area.

Alexandria is so friendly and lovely and kind. This is one of the yummiest taco trucks I've ever visited, especially since I get vegetarian dishes - in this case, the vegetarian burrito It was absolutely lush and delicious, and I would order them a thousand times again. Esposo ordered the steak burrito and absolutely raved how delicious it was. Prices are fair for location ($30 2 burritos - one a veggie, one a steak). Food is very fresh, I wish there were more locations, but it's worth the drive to Rodanthe. Very good, que Bueno!

I would definitely recommend this place if you want something easy and filling! Perfect beach day burrito🌯

Good beach access near a campground. Lots of parking space, restrooms and several showers (one on the ramp to the beach). Howeverm the sandy beach part is rather small compared to other beaches on the Outer Banks. Still worth going there. If going on the beach and taking long walks is what you like then I wouldn't recommend this beach. The sand is soft and the beach is steep which makes it mire difficult. Ocean Gourmet & Gifts/Sea Treasures is a delightful establishment that stands out as a favorite among visitors. The enticing aroma of freshly baked goods and delectable fudge permeates the air, making it difficult to resist purchasing some. The mouthwatering treats, such as homemade cinnamon buns and various flavors of ice cream, are undeniably delicious and leave patrons eager to return for more.
We came in and purchased fudge for a little treat after lunch one day on vacation. The store was so cute and clean, but we stayed on track with getting our treats and heading back to meet the rest of the family where we enjoyed a little tasting of six kinds of fudge! Chocolate Cheesecake: a lot less sweet than most - big win in my opinion Birthday Cake: the kids loved it but the sweetness level was too much for the adults. Flavor was on point though! Cookies & Cream: huge hit with the family! Exactly what you would expect of it. Butterfinger: should’ve asked for extra, this went QUICK. Snickers: seemed like classic chocolate fudge with peanuts and caramel on top. This was one of my favorites because it was simple and delicious. Peanut Butter: you can never go wrong with the classics. This was made perfectly! The fudge was excellent and great quality. I don’t recall the name of the person I spoke with, but she seemed to be the owner and quite invested in this work. She made excellent suggestions and her sweets were made perfectly.

This place is an absolute scam. I came in for a shade tent for my INFANT for a beach day and explained that to the man working. He rudely pointed me to the back where there was one selection for $120. Of course I have to have shade for my infant, so I purchased it. I explained that my last one, a different brand from a different store, broke immediately and he reassured me the one I was getting was good and no one had problems. Funny, because it broke immediately as well, they don’t allow returns, and this is a common issue with the same shade tent. They know what they’re doing, selling terrible products for high prices and not allowing returns. Horrible business practice and I cannot urge people enough to NOT shop here. Close this place down.

This place is an absolute scam! They literally robbed me. Didn’t give me my sunscreen that I PAID FOR. I was waiting at the cashier for almost 30 minutes to buy one bottle of sunscreen and no one came by. Shop was a ghost town. After a series of events the employee harassed me while i tried to purchase my sunscreen. They called me broke and before i took out my payment method asked if i even had a debit card. Which now makes me skeptical that they are stealing card info. I paid THIRTY DOLLARS for one singular bottle of sunscreen, which is a rip-off. After seeing other reviews of this place i now am wondering if was even real sunscreen. After i paid for it the lady working didn’t give me my sunscreen and threatened to call the cops on me. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Please read other reviews. terrible customer service and overpriced garbage they are selling.

I usually dislike leaving bad reviews, but in this case I’ll make an exception. This company does not refund your money if your product breaks during use. We spent $90 plus tax on a beach shelter and it broke during regular use. We’re talking about a tear that made the device unusable. We went back the same day we bought it, asked for a refund and were denied because of their “policy”. Merchants that do not stand by their products do not deserve your money. Save yourself the hassle during your vacation and go elsewhere. For example Super Wings had a similar shelter for less money, a 24 hour return window and way more customer friendly. Hope this helps.

Absolutely horrible. I was verbally accosted by a man who worked there because my kids rang a little bell they sold in the store. He marched up to them and told them to cool it or leave his store very rudely. I reprimanded them and made them stop ringing the bell. We put our items back said we would spend our money elsewhere and began to walk away. It wasn’t worth it. That seemed to set the employee off, he began arguing with me and proceeded to pickup a bell off the shelf and ring it repeatedly in my face while blocking my path. Once he finally stopped I was able to get to my husband and tell him what happened. When confronted by my husband he hid in the back of the store and shouted over the counter in front of all the customers and blamed me for the incident because I was “rude to him first” which is totally not true. My kids are all shook up over this experience, DO NOT recommend.

Bought a vape here only to realize that all the capes they are selling are fakes!! Never heard of a fake vape but I guess they exist. None of the 3 vapes they gave me worked either. TOTAL SCAM!!!

$23 bathing suit ripped the 2nd day wearing it. Everything bought was under racks that said mix and match 50% off. Only 2 items rang as 50% off. Can't use dressing rooms I guess because of covid but the employee running the front doesn't wear a mask the entire time we are shopping. Several customers were not wearing masks and absolutely no social distancing/organization for register line. And the business is politically biased selling a wall of only Trump merchandise. I find it unprofessional. Everything is expensive. Not shopping here again.

The area offers a variety of beach towns with diverse atmospheres, from lively areas with oceanside crab shacks to remote nature-filled spots. Jason was awesome. My son was having chafing problems while body boarding and he didn’t try to upsell me on anything he said some belly jelly and some compression shorts should solve it. My son didn’t have anymore problems after that. Solid dude and great shop.

Great shop. I think we stopped at least 4 times between myself and my family during our 7 day stay in Rodanthe. There aren’t a lot of places that sell “Rodanthe” anything, and this shop did it right. Small and authentic. Great concept, awesome owner who is down to earth. I dont feel the least bit upset for giving this store most of our money during the week. This guy has done it right and deserves every penny. My only request- put more of your clothing on your online store please! We’ll be back regardless.

I just wanna give a huge shout out to Duck Village Outfitters Salvo for taking the best care of my mom yesterday! Absolutely amazing customer service!! Nothing but the best! I highly recommend DVO for your family surf lessons with Isaiah!!! He took our family - ages 8, 17, 19 and 50 for our first surfing ever. Isaiah was full of energy and kept everyone in a good mood (that is a feat for the 8 yr old who thought he should pick it up immediately!)! Everyone landed some waves during the 2 hours in the water! Isaiah is also a beach lifeguard and I felt very safe sending our family members with him into the surf. What was a bonus, is that you get to keep your board and wetsuit for 24 hours! Isaiah dropped them at our house and then someone picked them up the next afternoon. You will not get the nicest boards, but they are perfect for beginners! Go to DVO in Salvo and ask for Isaiah!! We definitely want to return next year!!

I just came in to buy a surfboard. I inquired with the young woman at the front desk, who barely looked up from her phone to tell me all the surfboards were having up. She could not have been more disinterested in helping customers. The complete opposite from the two other surf shops in the vicinity, Hatteras Surf Shop and Rodanthe Surf shop. Go to either of those instead!

If you live in the area, you're so lucky to have this hidden gem. Friday morning outdoor practice in the shade with Lindsy was the perfect way to finish my stay in the OBX this summer. Great class, perfect pace for the temp. Options offered to increase or decrease challenge. 28Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station

Historical landmark
The Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station, one of the 271 life-saving stations in the country, offers a glimpse into history with its well-preserved 1870s building. Situated among the dunes on the south side of Oregon Inlet, it is easily accessible from Route 12 and provides a picturesque setting for exploration. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, shell collecting, and hiking through the dunes to reach this historic site.
Really liked it down here. Very nice. Great parking, great scenery. You can see the lighthouse from the old bridge or just standing in the parking lot. Also, it's a really good place for scenery viewing and photography, also including astrophotography, which I was able to do tonight even though there was a barge parked right next to the shore with its lights on. Really annoying, but anyways, very enjoyable.
Thomas W — Google review
I spend 4 months during the summer operating my charter boat from the outer banks, NC. I traverse Oregon inlet daily and can see the lifesaving station every time I pass. So I decided to take a couple hours and walk around and get some good pictures and videos. It is an easy place to access by crossing the "Mark basnight bridge" on route 12. Heading south across the bridge you will see a turning place where you can access the life saving station as well as the Bonner bridge fishing pier. Parking is free and plentiful. Once there, you will see many beautiful trails that will lead you through a maze of sand dunes as well as a bird sanctuary. The life saving station itself was built in 1874 and stood till 1954 before it was closed. The building itself is still in very good shape yet it has an ominous presence due to Oregon inlets history of being one of the nation's most hazardous inlets. The outer Banks is known as the graveyard of the Atlantic and has over 5,000 shipwrecks off of the coast! That's more than any place in the entire world! If you're on vacation and you love the beaches then head south a little bit and check out the Oregon inlet Life saving station. Give yourself a few hours to roam around and check out the sites or collect some seashells. As a photographer, I can say there are some of the most spectacular views and sunsets available at this location. Thank you for taking the time to read my review, captain Matt!
Matthew F — Google review
Neat place to visit but to get to it is a bit difficult. Prepare for intense sand dunes. There are multiple paths. Watch for burrs. Super quiet and hauntingly beautiful.
Catherine Z — Google review
Gorgeous, lots of area to just explore without crowds. We walked the pathway to the station and also to the beach from there. Great place for watching birds and collecting shells. We may have seen one person. We also took one of our twin boys and he’s a chunkster and it was a bit of a workout carrying him to and from even on a cooler day. I even attempted a reliable beach wagon but sand isn’t packed enough so we just carried him. It was worth it! He loooved it! It’s just beautiful here!
Stephanie P — Google review
Very sad that the building is not open to the public. Hopefully, one of these days, they'll do something with it like the Chicamacomico LSS. Very beautiful building that, luckily, they have preserved and raised off the ground to further protect the building. You can not drive to the station as the road is blocked off to keep vandals away. It's worth the hike, beautiful scenery.
Rick E — Google review
This 1870’s life saving station is very well preserved and situated among the dunes on the south side of Oregon Inlet, along the Mountains to Sea Trail. You can see this majestic, historic building easily from Route 12 and can hike through the dunes up to the building from the Bonner Bridge Pier parking lot. The parking area was recently resurfaced and is equipped with port-o-potties and a trash bin, along with trail head signage. Dogs are allowed along the MST to the beach and around the life-saving station, but not along the point, due to nesting birds. I look forward to the day when this building is re-opened to the public.
LR P — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit and appreciate nature. If your looking for seashells, this is your place. You can hike around the dunes end enjoy the view of crashing waves and many types of birds. Fishing is great from this point. Recently they added a large walkway and Fishing peer, a great spot for night fishing with tons of room. Great place to just sit back and enjoy the view of moon and stars.
