Museum
History Museums
The Fortress of Maputo, a historic gem dating back to the early 18th century, stands as a testament to Mozambique's rich military history. Originally constructed by Portuguese colonists in 1787 for defense purposes, this impressive structure has transformed into a captivating museum that draws visitors from all over. Within its walls, you can explore the remnants of Ngungunhane, the last emperor of Gaza—a poignant reminder of pre-colonial times before Portuguese dominance.
Interesting place to explore. Especially if you’re into History.
Johann S — Google review
For 50 MT you can have a very quick visit to this place. Not that big though. I liked the view to the main street from above the walls. Also some interesting history behind each piece. You get to know part of the colonial history of Maputo. Do this if you are in the city, but don't expect much to see.
Mohsen S — Google review
It’s not bad for 50 MT. You can get a quick history of colonial time in Maputo. If you want to learn, you have to read a lot because there’s no tour guide there. You do the visit yourself. There’s a good view on top. There are descriptions of what type of armaments where used, I advise to read that. There’s the history health department.
Elle — Google review
Good to visit. Price of the ticket is more than resonable ... is true, not much to see, but is worth visiting. No souvenirs to buy, and not so much interest in the people administrating the museum to promote the place.
Pricop O — Google review
This is a museum of military history built many centuries. Suitable history enthusiasts and those wanting to learn about the history of Mozambique. It is access with small fee of 50MT per person
Kilego M — Google review
The fort is quite interesting although a bit lacking in historical detail about it all. It's now overseen by the university so I would've hoped for a bit more...... nonetheless there is a bit of history, lots of guns and some historical models. Most of all it's a nice, quiet place in the centre of town for reflection and peace. Staff are v friendly and only 50MZN entry.
Agberolistic — Google review
Quick visit to the fortress. It is indeed not big, but hardly costs anything (50 Mt pp)... so why not visit and support its maintenance. Interesting display of Mozambique's history through puppet displays/ maquettes. Of course you must not miss the old Portuguese Fortress of Maputo. It is actually quite small and can be covered in less than an hour. They've got some pretty old cannons here which are neat to look at. Not exactly the funnest part of town to visit or park in, but you've got to do it at least once! There's some really interesting and informative exhibits explaining the formation of Maputo city over the last 500 years
MEHULRAJ N — Google review
Myself and two children went to explore the fort. We paid the entry fee which would have been a good deal if the place was maintained properly. The garden was full of smashed glass, plastic bottles, plastic bags, cut offs of traditional African fabric. The youngest one went to sit on a bench for a photo and stepped on a pin that went through her sandle and into her foot. Luckily she had her tetanus. Also all the spaces inside the fort walls had been locked off. Apart from that it was quite interesting. I do recommend going but not untill it is sorted. It would only take 1 hour to clean the place up but no-one seems to be interested. We got our money back and an apology was made.

Seafood market
The Maputo Fish Market is a must-visit for a unique dining experience. Located on the waterfront, this lively market offers an array of fresh seafood from various stalls. Visitors can purchase fresh fish and large prawns, which can be cooked at adjacent cafes over coal fires. While vendors may try to persuade you to buy from them, take your time and ensure that your purchases are accurately weighed.
An unforgettable seafood experience the fish tastes like it was just caught from the ocean
Thabang L — Google review
For over a decade, our family has made the Maputo Fish Market a must-visit destination. We have fond memories of coming here long before it was moved to its current location, always guaranteed a delicious, fresh meal that was a highlight of our trips. Unfortunately, our most recent visits have been a different story. The experience is no longer what it once was, and the joy of a good meal has been overshadowed by the rising costs. While we understand that prices for fresh seafood fluctuate, the expenses for the entire process have become quite steep. The cost of the fish itself has gone up, as has the fee for having it cleaned. The most jarring change, however, is the price to have the fish cooked. The amount we are now charged for cooking is often higher than the price we paid for the fish itself, which seems disproportionate and unreasonable. To make matters worse, there are now additional, separate charges for starches and vegetables, which feels quite ridiculous given the overall cost. We've come to the conclusion that a local restaurant, which offers a clean, comfortable environment and a guaranteed price, is now a better option. For what we pay at the fish market, we can get a meal of similar value at a restaurant, along with the comfort of a clean toilet and proper seating. While it's sad to say, the Maputo Fish Market no longer offers the same value or experience it once did for our family.
Thobile M — Google review
With all the fresh fish coming out of Maputo Bay, I think they're going to be covered. What you're really wondering about is the freshness. On the assumption that the locals at the market are tough professionals, we switched tack without so much as a flicker and took the prawns we had bought at the market with us to the takeaway restaurant next to the market.
T. G — Google review
Be careful if you go here! The prices are a total scam, especially for tourists. At the restaurant where they prepare your seafood selection, it’s even worse — they charge way too much and aren’t upfront about the costs. On top of that, the vendors are relentless. While you’re just trying to wait, they keep hammering you to buy something, and it gets really annoying instead of enjoyable. The bathrooms are terrible, dirty, and you still have to pay to use them. Honestly, the whole experience feels like they just want to rip people off rather than give good service. If you’re planning a visit, just know what you’re getting yourself into. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it.
FNM G — Google review
Avoid. Very expensive, and, unfortunately, the people who work there have not a clue about tourism. The only target is to empty your wallet and destroy the experience. Seafood is indeed fantastic, but is better to avoid this place. It really shows the worst part of having a lunch in Maputo.
Gianpa K — Google review
Crazy but lovely fish market. Gotta keep your witts about you otherwise it becomes overwhelming. The food is great/excellent but obviously depends on which establishment you choose to prepare it. Will definitely be back for another crazy experience;)
Norine A — Google review
The people are extremely helpful, they can also get a bit overwhelming and pushy when you enter the fish market especially if you’re foreign as they all want to make a living. Negotiate with them as they are open to that, you can pay for cleaning as well. We’ve eaten at stand 16 they prepare it for you there and you pay for that. It’s honestly prepared beautifully and tastes great. Ask for Costa at stand 16 when you’re ready to eat.
Magin G — Google review
This place has fresh fish in different sizes and types. The market has two sides one that sells the fish and the restaurants that prepare the fish that you choose from the fresh market. There is plenty seating area and secure parking for 20 MZM.

Architectural Buildings
The Maputo Central Railway Station is a charming colonial-style train station that was named the third most beautiful in the world by Time magazine in 2015. Visitors can explore the building and tracks, learn about its history and that of Mozambique through various exhibits and informational displays. Outside, a bustling market has formed where buses drop off many passengers. Although lively outside, inside it is serene with occasional trains bringing life to the station.
Beautiful place and affordable trains🔥💯
Thando M — Google review
Beautiful station. Not much else going on but it is a lovely building and the toilets are clean! Has an interesting '10 most beautiful stations in the world' exhibition.
Ian P — Google review
A must visit if you’re in Maputo. Historic train station that takes you back to the bygone romance of train travel. Visit the museum and learn about the history of one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Loved the architecture. Across the station are some excellent examples of Pancho Guedes architecture.
Meruschka ( — Google review
A nice old train station built in colonial style. There are a lot of information telling the story of the building and the history of Mozambique. You can stroll around and discover the building and tracks and with a little luck a train will fill the station with life. In front of the building the busses spit out a lot of people and a small market has established. It’s full and crowded outside but quiet inside.
Contare M — Google review
A definite must to visit if/when you're in Maputo....as you walk in you may be met by Charles who will offer to be your guide, for a tip, and you can choose to accept or decline. If you accept, Charles personal stories of how he went to study economics in Cuba, sponsored by the, then, socialist government, before being called back early, before graduating and has worked as a guide at the station since then....very interesting. The station is beautiful and you can walk around and visit the historic restaurant for food or drink - a very cool place. You can also pay 100 MTZ to enter the museum, which is well worth it and walk along the interior of the old Belgian train. It's, cool and relaxed and conjures up images of a colonial past.
Agberolistic — Google review
Designed in French Beaux-Arts style and completed in 1916, Maputo's central railway station is testament to a time when the railways were at their highpoint early 1900s. Train stations in those days almost had the same prestigious status as a cathedral. Those times are clearly over. The final blow for the Mozambican railways came after independence in 1975, when an exodus of qualified personnel took place and the railway system almost collapsed. Though the station is still operational (three lines for transport of passengers remain) it is not longer a mass transportation hub. People in Mozambique prefer to take buses. The main bus station Junta is way out of town.
MEHULRAJ N — Google review
A stunning, stunning railway station filled with historical value and endless photo opportunities. Even if you aren't catching a train anywhere, this is one stop that's certainly worth a visit.
Vaughan M — Google review
What a beautiful, quaint railway station! They have preserved the history while still making it modern. Everyone is helpful here. You can buy your ticket at the station. We were there off peak a d it didn't take long to get a ticket.

Art gallery
Restaurant
Centro Social & Cultural Do Núcleo De Arte is a vibrant art hub in Maputo, serving as a gallery, workshop, and educational center. It is the oldest collective of artists in the city and offers visitors the opportunity to admire local artwork and witness artists at work. The cooperative promotes up-and-coming artists through workshops and studios where painters and sculptors create their pieces. The space features contemporary art by some of Maputo's newest talents, with some pieces available for purchase.
I just happened to walk by this place, about a 5 minute walk from the Natural History Museum. Mozambique seems to have a distinctive style of art that I’ve especially enjoyed compared to other African countries I’ve seen. I really enjoyed many of the paintings & the sculptures. The prices are also quite reasonable & a great way to support local artists!

The staff was friendly and receptive, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. Ended up purchasing a few impressive pieces from the gallery. A must-visit for art enthusiasts!

Great place to visit and one of the top places in maputo to drink a beer. Food and drinks to good prices. Every Sunday the have live music. But the best of this bar that makes it stand out, is the experience of going there to drink a beer and then going to galerie to see the painting, maybe even talking to some artist.

Spanning across 3 hectares, this botanical paradise is a haven for nature enthusiasts and tourists looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Mozambique's flora and fauna. With over 300 plant species and a variety of birdlife, the gardens offer a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle.
Beautiful gardens with massive trees. It is also well worth looking for the fruit bats. The garden seems very popular for wedding photos over weekends.

What a beautiful place, lovely trees and interesting bats. We went on a Saturday and lots of people were getting married. Great to see. I had to pick up a few bottles or rubbish, keep the park clean, please, there is enough rubbish around without ruining this spot.
Brad F — Google review
Lovely botanical gardens. Many couples come there for their wedding photos. Vegetation looks great!
Jerome D — Google review
Nice spot to visit in Maputo. The place is very convenient for study, reading a book, or quiet chill with friends. The WiFi is gratis but only working in certain areas on the day we visit. The entrance is well designed with a statue of the 1st President of Mozambique. Nice spot for pics as well.
Cheryll M — Google review
It's a good place to visit and to chill & relax with your family, partner or alone 💯🔥☘️
Thando M — Google review
Since 1885 this botanical garden survived in the old center of Maputo. Massive tall tropical trees provide shade. There is a small pond and the trails through divers vegetation are well maintained. Birds and bats have chosen the garden to be their home. It is a very tranquil place, excellent for a walk in the morning. Hardly suitable for running as the garden is rather small. Small but lovely gardens - really, more of a park than a botanical garden. Well-kept, with a gateman to maintain order. Quiet, with benches and lawns. Lovely trees, flowers, and a very visible bat colony. Recommended.
MEHULRAJ N — Google review
Very beautiful park. On the weekends you can see couples celebrating their marriage, there is a place that you can see bats. You can sit and relax. There is also a tennis court.

The Casa de Ferro is a historical landmark that was imported from Belgium in 1892 to serve as the governor-general's residence. Located within the vicinity of other notable tourist attractions, this iron house may be considered a fascinating colonial relic. Although its exterior presents an interesting sight, there is not much to see inside. Nevertheless, it holds significant cultural value and is recommended for tourists seeking to immerse themselves in the local history and culture.
Antonio Macanja gave such so much information on Moçambique, he is a walking encyclopedia I could sit there the whole day learming about history from him. The place is clean and well maintained piece of history and they have beautiful local art pieces. Was worth the visit❣️
Keneuwe H — Google review
Interesting house with evidently lots of history. Unfortunately it is neither beautiful nor accessible to the public, but while you’re in the area it is well worth having a look.
Thomas M — Google review
A house made of iron prefabricated in Belgium parachuted in the capital of a Portugese colony in the tropics! It was meant to serve as a residence of the Portugese governor, but ever since 1892 the year it was erected offices went in and out. It was just too hot inside. Perhaps a good example of how ignorant the initial Portugese rulers were about local conditions. For me a surprise that Gustave Eiffel did the design. Was the man as backward as his clients or was he just not interested in far-away territories? There was an interesting exhibition of paintings in the hot house. Entrance fee 100 Meticais
MEHULRAJ N — Google review
Didn’t go inside as we were in a rush, but interesting none the less. Designed by Gustav Eiffel for the then governor of Lorenzo Marques, even though Eiffel never been to Mozambique, the Iron House is made of iron... not at all practical in the cities tropical climate. The governor never ended up living there! There’s a craft shop that’s also worth a visit and the impressive statue of Samora Machel across the traffic circle.
Meruschka ( — Google review
Interesting place to visit, in the area where the main, historic tourist attractions are. Iron house for the governor to live in.....wow! Who's crazy idea was that - another colonial mistake, but fascinating all the same.
Agberolistic — Google review
Seems like it could be a tourist trap but is actually quite an interesting building with a fascinating history. The whole area surrounding the Iron House is actually very interesting with much on offer.

It is my to-go place in Maputo for any and all type of vegetables and fruits. The quality of fruits and vegetables are very good and fresh. The sellers are friendly and they also learnt a bit English and Hindi names for the vegetables. Varieties of legumes, nuts, piri piri sauces and spices are also available here. There is a small area for fish sellers.

Praca da Independencia, or Independence Square, is a must-visit gem nestled in the heart of Maputo, Mozambique's lively capital. This historic square is steeped in cultural significance and serves as a poignant reminder of the nation's journey to independence. At its center stands an impressive statue of Samora Machel, the first president of independent Mozambique, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash.
Renamed in 1975 after Mozambique won its independence from the Portuguese, the square is dominated by a large statue of the country’s first president, Samora Machel, who died in a mysterious plane crash. On the north side of the square, look for the neoclassical city hall. To its east, the Art Deco Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, which resembles a wedding cake and was consecrated in 1944, is impossible to miss. Nearby, the French-Mozambican Cultural Center hosts everything from jazz performances to art exhibitions, and the Tunduru Botanical Gardens, a few blocks away, are worth visiting for some shade from the African sun

Normal place, the government could make a better effort to highlight such an important moment. The Praça is not easy to access, as it is located in the middle of the road, as the Praça serves as a roundabout, so be wary of the cars as they drive in the opposite directions of the rest of the world.
Ramzi M — Google review
It's an ok site, one can just pop by the area to take photos for the gram. Not much info is posted about Samora Machel on the actual site so if you don't know him, you'll just think it's a statue.

Located in Maputo, Mozambique, Dhow Restaurant is a popular and trendy spot that offers a unique experience. It combines an art gallery with a fashionable restaurant, showcasing an array of African art and stylish furniture from various countries. The restaurant's eclectic mix of fashion and design creates a modern and hip ambiance for diners to enjoy while indulging in their meals. Additionally, visitors can explore handcrafted silver and leather jewelry as well as homeware on display at the restaurant.
Possibly the best sundowner spot in Maputo. The decor is very nice and the views unmatched. The service is not the greatest and everything is a little pricey, but that is generally a small price to pay for the experience. Well worth a visit!

Excellent cafe and restaurant in Maputo with an incredible view of the water. You must visit!! The food and coffee was exceptional, and the waiter was attentive and friendly. Let me explain the missing stars from my score: 4 stars for service is because the car park is terrible and i ground the bottom of my car getting out. Nothing to do with the internal customer service, but if they want me to keep coming back then the parking needs to better than a patch of sand next to their place. 3 stars for atmosphere: this might be a little harsh, and could have been 4 stars, but the music was too loud and too intense for a lazy coffee at 3pm in the afternoon. At night, yes. I can see the music being an important part of the ambiance. But it didn’t fit when we were there. In short… go and visit!! Excellent

The views at this place are absolutely stunning. The service was very slow in the beginning and it wasn’t too busy. This did however, improve later on. The food was average. I think the best dishes were the lobster pasta, and the apple crumble. The chicken samosas tasted very greasy and bland, the bread that came with the prawns was a little stale. I would definitely come back for the ambience. Worth a try, but don’t expect too much in as far as the food goes.

I really enjoyed this place. The stuff was great, although it was a bit hard to understand their English but as a geologist, I would get a sense of what they were trying to say. They explained so much about the geology of Mozambique (or maybe not so much but...). Oh and the sight of all the rocks and minerals they have, it was so Gneisse to see

My 5 year old loved this museum. Beautiful exhibits, with minerals from all over Moçambique. The guide was very knowledgeable and kind, a geology student at Eduardo Mondlane University. Showed us a big piece of graphite and how it is used in pencils. Showed us naturally occurring fluorescence. My child says he'd love to go back to Maputo and visit the museum again.

Very nice little museum. Ask one of the guides (usually volunteer geologists) to show you around and give you a spiel about the geology, geography and current industry of Mozambique. There are mostly mineral and fossil samples and some maps. Entry is met 20 for students, 50 for locals and 100 for tourists.

The Museu de Historia Natural is a museum showcasing taxidermy animals and videos on local eco-systems in a grand, Portuguese-style hall from 1911. Despite being an interesting attraction to visit, the exhibits are not well-maintained nor restored, with many of the taxidermy animals decaying due to the lack of proper care. The admission fee is 100MZN (R25) pp as of February 2022.
Excellent Museum for all age groups. Very well maintained and extremely detailed. All foreigners above the age of 11 must pay 300 metical each to enter. All nationals above the age of 11 have to pay 100 metical each to enter. Children below 11 (foreigner or national) have no entrance fee.

The building itself is beautiful. The collections are what you would see in a Natural History Museum elsewhere with the exception of the elephant foetuses preserved in formaldehyde which are fascinating.
Rafael R — Google review
I used to come here as a child all the time; it had been a few years since my last visit, and I wasn't dissapointed. Everything was exactly as I remembered it, which isn't really the best thing, as some information was outdated (the evolutionary tree, that sort of thing), but it is a magical place, and truly somewhere one must visit when in Maputo. The building is beautiful, but sadly, there is no wheelchair accessibility; a flight of stairs inside, too. Some of the taxidermy is a little funny, but a lot of effort and care went into the placement of the animals.
Lari H — Google review
The museum is a nice attraction to visit. It's very sad that the exhibits are not being maintained and restored. Many of the taxidermy animals are decaying. The museum is very hot side as there is no aircons that is working. Entrance is 100MZN (R25) pp - February 2022 price. The gardens outside is not being maintained is has lots of rubbish. There are some dinosaur replicas with info plates next to them. I would recommend for anyone visiting Maputo for the first time.

The building itself is beautiful. The collections are what you would see in a Natural History Museum elsewhere with the exception of the elephant foetuses preserved in formaldehyde which are fascinating. However they were cultivated when the colonial government decided to clear the forested area South of Maputo and in the process slaughtered about two thousand elephants.

This is a great museum, although very small - more like a large gallery. There are a number of paintings and sculptures across two levels. The art is very varied and interesting. As far as I could tell, all the artists are Mozambican. The lighting was decent and the space very clean and quiet. The pieces did not have descriptions and the titles were only in Portuguese. The receptionist did not speak English but was very friendly and helpful through hand gestures. Entry was 100 mt, a very low price for an abundance of great art. Be aware that the walk from the other tourist sites to the south is uphill when going towards the museum.

I was surprised when I visited on a weekend to find the museum open when I arrived at 1:30 pm (posted hours are only 2-4 pm on weekends). The worker was asleep, but happy to greet me when he woke up. I was already a big fan of Malangatana’s works as I’d actually seen his exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. Highly recommend!! Mozambique has a lot of talented artists though & a unique style, so I greatly appreciated the other exhibits as well! (& highly recommend the Nucleo de Arte in downtown to but directly from current artists also).

Small art museum with Mozambican art. Most pieces appear to date from the 1980's and 90's. Art is a window into a nation's psyche, so this is well worth the time. Over a month plus stay i found myself visiting atleast once a week to feed my cravings. The daily specials always hit the spot, from shrimp and rice to meatballs and salads it was all a fresh experience. If you find yourself in Maputo go visit ✨

Nice place with a nice atmosphere and some local dishes. The food is not that bad and the prices are nice. Although I liked their food better some time ago. The meat and chicken aren’t as soft (well prepared) as it used to be. Overall a place I would recommend! Follow them on social media for some activities they plan from time to time.

Nice place with great food, which is quite affordable (well, relatively). Language was not a barrier for an anglophone like myself, since manager could speak English. The problem had to do with the lead time between order and actual food service. Also, the fact that one has to suffer from secondary smoking as other customers easily smoke on the same premises. Could be better if a designated smoking area is provided, particularly for those who'd prefer to smoke. On a whole, I'd visit there again if I get the chance

We heard good things about this place but must say we weren't overly impressed. Must say the food was very good we had the Masai beef curry ...problem is of the 5 dishes we really wanted to try they only had one... basically in the end we just asked them to point at what they actually have on menu instead of them say no. Service wasn't the best ...there's laid back and there's not really caring ... overall it was just OK

The Fundação Fernando Leite Couto, established by the renowned local writer and editor Fernando Leite Couto, is a vibrant celebration of Mozambican literature and creative arts. This cultural hub hosts weekly exhibitions, live music events, and dramatic performances to make art accessible to all. Visitors can immerse themselves in a diverse range of cultural gems showcased at the venue. The space also offers a delightful restaurant with an enticing ambiance. Patrons can enjoy quality food while being exposed to various cultural events.
I visited Fundação Fernando Leite Couto recently, and the experience was delightful. Although I couldn't try the restaurant, its enticing ambiance made me wish I had more time. The expo was fascinating, showcasing an impressive array of cultural gems. The cultural place featured a showcase of five talented artists during my visit. Each artist brought a unique perspective, contributing to the overall richness of the experience. It was a captivating blend of creativity, making the visit even more memorable. The cleanliness and coziness, coupled with the presence of a library, added to the charm of this cultural spot. It’s definitely a nice place to read, to study, work and have fun with friends. Definitely worth a visit!

I’m a meat lover and had high expectations for the place, but was really disappointed. First of all, on the menu the cream and mushrooms beef state that it comes with a fried egg and chips. Luckily i asked but the waiter said sorry, the egg is no longer a partnof the menu if you want the fried egg it will come as an extra. After i insisted that i want the egg but would not be paying for the extra they sort it out and included the egg without charging. But then, after we ordered the food (3 people in total) we waited almost an hour until it arrived. For our disapointment the beef was cold, the chips were cold and the mushroom sauce that had come on a separate bowl had already developed a thick layer on top (indicating it was hot and stayed out for a while). When i asked about this they immediately took mine and my friends beef plate back to the kitchen and im guessing they put it back on the grill or oven or something, Because the egg came out with less runny yolk than it came initally. I hoped at least they would bring a new steak properly done. In hopes that the meat would save the day, but it didnt. For the price paid the meat was not tender. The fat didnt render properly, it was extremely chewy and hard to cut even with a serrated knife, so in both plates we had to leave the fat out, and even some pieces of the meat we couldnt tear it a part in our mouths so we had to take it out. Didnt finish the plate. We raised the concern with the waiter, the information we got back was that they would pass on the information back to the kitchen, and nothing else. We had our cup of espresso and left, but i’m definitely not coming back. Not worth the price point.

Best known for its restaurant, but the place also comprises a nice galleria and the library of Mia Couto (writer). The galleria features a very intimate exhibition of Claudia Freitas (until November 30, 2021): Lights of absence, see also the translation of the introductory text attached hereto. Absolutely worth your while to go up the stairs and to visit the exhibition.

The place is not what it used to be. It is very clear that the management are incompetent and unable to manage the upkeep. I was very embarrassed to bring my friends and family who traveled from another country to the place. The toilet is repulsive. The cocktails are the worst I’ve had in Maputo. It had reputation of best pastel de natas, but would never recommend the place to anyone ever again. Very dirty, couches terrible. The menus are so overused and rotated, I was disgusted just touching them. This place is a run down gem. Change management urgently.

A nice place to hangout for breakfast or a quick bite, the sea view is relaxing and calm, but during windy days it becomes chill pretty quick. Nice service and also has live music during weekend evening. Also has some nice sushi. I don't eat cheese, but I was told by my wife that the pizza dough is very soft and it makes taverna's pizza unique. The only issue is that your food might delay let's say 30 to 60 minutes, if you don't ask for the regulars. So that's why 3 star instead of 4 stars.

I love the concept and the variety of products. Their menu and meals are very well composed. They just need to synchronize and standard the recipes and practices on presentation and quantities. Sometimes you go to a certain taverna and you ask for a cheese toast and you have the right amount of cheese on a correct temperature (melted), and if you go to other taverna, they won’t serve you the same way. The promotional menus are very practical and life saving (jokes). I’m a big fan. ✨

The Mafalala Walking Tour in Maputo offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods. This area is steeped in history, known for its role in anti-colonial resistance and as the birthplace or former residence of influential figures in Mozambique. The tour provides insight into the deep racial and socioeconomic divides that characterized the city under Portuguese colonialism.
Excellent tour by Nedy! Cost 1200 MT (Mozambique). Highly recommend it!! I have visited over 25 countries and this is one of the best walking tours. It is an old/original neighborhood that highlights the deep racial and socioeconomic divides this city has experienced under Portuguese colonialism. This neighborhood has not been mapped out on Google so hard to explore by yourself if you are a tourist / traveller. My tour ended with a traditional dance by local women who did the dance with the whole outfit and everything. We had a fantastic tour with Nedy. We learned lots about the history and culture of Mafalala which we never would have appreciated walking through the area in our own. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Highly recommend!

An overwhelming visit. Nery was such a professional with a great articulated speech and knowledge that made much more than a mere tour. It was an eye-opener experience. This should be an obligation not only for the portuguese as well for those who thinks we live in a developed and concerned society.
